We arrived early for lunch (11 am) for the buffet. They had a great assortment of meats, and the fried chicken was especially delicious. They also had fried fish, pork chops, beef stroganoff, meatballs, liver, potatoes, veggies, salad bar, and desserts. My hubby and I sampled all the meats, except for the liver. It was all good. They also serve breakfast all day.

I had the buffet is alright . I give the buffet a 3.....the steak dinners look really really good though have to try one of those out that might bump it up to a 4 maybe 4 and a half

Food good. Got a brown salad though. Lettuce only. They feed you here. Prepare to get a to-go container. The cash only thing is annoying though. I'll stop here anytime across the area. Better than any of the corporate crap.

In the land of cornfields and truck stops, this is a pretty decent place to eat if you want tons of options for food, and a lot of it. We stopped and ordered a broad range; a burger, breakfast, sandwich, etc. Everything was good. Each order came with about 3 sides, so we didn't get much of it eaten. The atmosphere isn't great, but the food is good and our waitress was attentive and helpful. On that long journey where you just need food, stop in Brooklyn for a cute little meal.

This place had SUCH potential! It's always the small, hidden little diners that always have the best food, but this place was a horrible exception. Mind you, I would have eaten anything after not eating for almost 16 hours, but I won't be returning. We started off with the "loaded fries" for the appetizer. This consisted of oven baked fries with melted shredded cheese and small bacon pieces. It was extremely bland. I assume the fact that they only offer 3 appetizers is because they just don't know how to do it. My husband had the "corned beef hash omelet" which he actually enjoyed (even with me gagging at the corned beef part across the table). It was a huge portion. I had the BBQ sandwich with fries. The BBQ patties were awful and the bun was too small for the meat. I had to cut it up into little pieces. I was absolutely not impressed. Ate half of it and let me husband finish it for me. Our waitress was extremely rude and unwelcoming. I guess it was because it was later in the day and she had to have been tired, but why would you take that out on the customers who are going to be tipping you? So not impressed. Not the worst, absolutely not the best.

Loved this place. Staff was very attentive and my breakfast was huge and tasty. Highly recommend. Be sure to brimg cash though. Cash only. They also have an ATM if you need it. Will definitely return.

Nice place to grab some quick comfort food. I'm a truck driver and am accustomed to not great food and service. As such I always approach a new place with skepticism. That said I found the food good. Service was fine. I will be back. Not the best cuisine but definitely far from the worst. It's the type of place where of you stopped there it was probably unintentional. So you probably want be disappointed.

Let me first say that we stopped here because it was the closest and only thing open on a bad weather night. The reviews, a 2 and a 4 looked more positive than negative. It's a truck stop, and truck stops CAN have excellent food, so I walked in with the utmost optimism. That being said, I do not believe they could pass a health inspection. Nearly all the plates and silverware we picked up were dirty. My business traveling companion took one bite of some sort of cake, made a terrified face followed buy a huge drink of water. I asked him what was wrong and he said something was in the cake that wasn't supposed to be and 'we weren't going to talk about it'. Bottom line, keep on driving, it was pretty bad.

Wow. This is an unexpected find! We dropped in for a bite on our way home. It's part of a truck stop along interstate 80. It's on the other side of the interstate from a "Sleep Inn." It is a truck stop diner with breakfast 24 hours. Very good food, generous portions, and home cooked style. It wasn't like a chain place at all. They have fresh homemade pies and even those are sliced huge! The only downfall was country music (OLD country music like funny face). But if you didn't focus on it you didn't notice it. It was just loud enough to be heard if you wanted to listen or you could ignore it with ease!! The wait was extremely short and the wait staff was kind and polite! Really worth your time to stop if you're travelling on 80 between Iowa City and Des Moines.
