OK, I live in Texas so I get a LOT of good Mexican to choose from. That being said, I still prefer Tex-Mex over authentic, so my reviews will be skewed in that way. The place was about 80% full when we went, and it was pretty busy, with lots of traffic in and out, including call-in orders. So, the speed of the kitchen was a little slow, but not so bad that I got annoyed. While we waited, we had great warm tortilla chips and salsa that was surprisingly good. I love cilantro and this salsa had it, yum! I only got the Quesadilla Azteca, so not really a hard dish to prepare - but it was great., gotta say it was alot better than I expected. I LOVE the cheese they used, definitely wasn't Mozarella or Jack - much creamier, and YUM. Would definitely order those again. My dad got the Enchiladas Vallarta and cleaned his plate. My mom and aunt both got the Chimichangas, their regular order - both reported it was very good, as usual. All in all, a surprising treat of Mexican in small-town Iowa - don't hesitate to try it, I think you'll be happy you went.

My taco salad was a blob of bland hamburger meat with few pinch of lettuce shreds. My son's Carnitas was bland and tough to chew.

Typical American Mexican food joint. Nothing flashy, comparable to pretty much every small town Mexican restaurant in the USA. Not a mind blower. Just a solid choice in a town with few.

This place used to be Dynomite, Granted the service has always been and still is. The food is now becoming subpar. It's like they quit cooking with salt. The food is now bland. Pretty sure they still are under the same managment. It is always packed for lunch. I don't know why anymore. I have been eating here for years and just now starting to see a change. Still, the service is excellent. Chips are good but the salsa has turned into a red soupy flavorless mess. I will only give this place one more try.

Decent food. Had a patio. Was nice to sit outside. We brought our dog and he sat on the opposite side of the fence. Nobody seemed to mind.

Very standard "American" Mexican food. Large menu, quick service, and the quality of the food was 3/5 stars. I'd make the suggestion that they offer the food a bit spicier. I asked for mine to be extra spicy, and it came out mild at best. For Boone, on a Sunday when there are not many options, this is a solid choice.

Have had way better Mexican before but still really good! The shrimp quesadilla is awesome. So are carne asada tacos!!

We will eat here once a month. We've got two wiggly kids and appreciate the fast service. I like the enchiladas and the cheese dip for the chips. The churros are better here than most places in Ames even... Always order them with ice cream!

Very good food and service. We asked for something with a little more kick to it than the standard salsa that came with the very crispy thin chips... And ... Be careful what you ask for! It was very hot, and very good. Three of us each had a different version of enchiladas, and no one was disappointed. Looking forward to the next time.

Stopped for a quick lunch. Food was okay. Nothing special, but nothing bad either. If your wanting something with a Mexican flare to it, then this seems like your best option in this town. Guacamole was good, but could have been a little hotter.

Very good Mexican food that stands out as an excellent option amongst the several restaurants, fast food joints and pizza places in Boone. Service is fast and friendly and food comes out quickly and hot! Try the enchiladas verdes tapatias and/or don't be afraid to customize any of the dishes...they will try to make your food to your liking if they can! Beware Sunday lunch time and any time there are 2-3 large groups being served...service can get a bit inconsistent, tho the food and friendliness remains quite good at all times.

Mexican Cuisine

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.
