I too have eaten here several times BUT they get too busy and you wait forever to get served. Short staffed? Food is good but way not worth the price. It is clean and neat but seating is wide open and you can't chat among your party due to the background racket. Locals go there because paying too much for dinner makes them feel like they are in the big city.

I ordered the 12 ounce Redwood ribeye and it was cooked to perfection. The steak was almost fork tender. As a previous posted stated there was little if no seasoning added to the steak. In the Redwoods defense some people prefer to taste the meat without it being covered up by seasoning. There were various seasonings on the table so people could season to their own taste. The relish tray was awesome and had a wide variety. Homemade salad dressing was truly a compliment to the salad. The bread was warm so the real butter melted just right. The baked potato was fresh and the seasoned sour cream was delicious. The waitress was exceptional. She kept our glasses full and brought extra butter without a request. She asked about our meal and if it was cooked as requested. The price for my ribeye was $27.00 which is fair for the quantity/quality of the meal. In a BIG city this meal would be twice as much. Definitely would come back if it wasn't 20 hours from home. Well I need to change my shirt since I have drooled all over myself.

The Redwood has been a favorite of mine for over 60 years. Whenever my family and I return to my hometown it is a "must" stop. We love the bustling atmosphere, the relish tray (standard with all meals), onion rings (best I have ever had), and the super efficient wait staff. I have eaten fancy food in some of the best restaurants in the world, but the Redwood is the real thing for me.

They advertise grilled steak. They are fried on a flat top, and are not seasoned. How much work is it to put a little salt and pepper on a piece of meat before you cook it? Prices are high for the lack of food quality and taste. The app tray comes straight from a can. Fries are frozen, and mashed potatoes are instant. Gravy comes from a powdered mix. The onlything they make fresh are the drinks, and even they are over priced!

I was visiting some friends in the area and they brought me to this great little restaurant. A wide variety of choices on the menu. Of course being in Iowa it had to be beef or pork! I chose pork.... WOW! A great 1" thick cut of boneless pork wrapped in bacon and spiced just right. Moist and tender, perfect! They also provided a relish tray to the table just loaded with great veggies and meats at no charge. If you're in the area this would be a great choice just a short distance from the freeway.

The worst experience of my adult life. I am one to never complain; this sort of review is rare for me. After being seated, we finally saw a server after 15 minutes. 75 minutes later, we still didn't have our food so we paid for the side salad and left. When we enquired about our food at 60 minutes, the server was rude and didn't seem to understand why I was bothering her. There were no apologies or explanations. I was so disappointed. We did overhear the table next to us talking about how bad the food was.
