The $1 drinks and $.50 water was a big draw for me. When I visited them this past Saturday, I got a rude awakening when I was charged $1 for the water. I was told that the store was a franchise and that's why the water was $1. My point is, all McDonald's offer complimentary water at no charge, why be greedy and raise your price for water from $.50 to $1. This was a total turn off. Waipio McDonald's was a regular stop on our way to the country; we may now have to rethink our fast food stop

Prices here are great and food taste exactly like McDonalds is supposed to taste. Ever check out prices at some of the other McDonalds across the state, it's higher than Waipio Gentry... Thanks again!

I came for coffee. There were about 4 people ahead of me in line in the restaurant. It took forever because they neglected the customers inside the restaurant for the drive through. Unacceptable. On the whole, the staff here was generally retarded. Bad McDonald's but it gets 2 stars for getting my large iced mocha right.

I am very upset with my recent visit to this McDonalds drive-thru. I went to McDonalds to get milk for my 2 year old daughter. I didn't think to check the expiration date and she drank some of the milk that I had bought. About a half an hour later when we got home, she began to throw up. Come to find out that the milk that I had recently purchased was spoiled and had an expiration date of the afternoon before. My daughter threw up a total of 5 times between he hours of 3:45-6:00pm and my husband and I ended up taking her to the emergency room. Which is pretty traumatic for a 2 year old. I did go back to the McDonalds to complain and just to let them know that they were selling expired milk. The manager offered me another bottle of milk, however I didn't want another milk since the damage had already been done. Again I would like to express my disappointment with the service that I received yesterday at McDonalds. Although i know as a parent I should check expiration dates before giving food to my child, I did not expect that I would receive expired food from one of the largest fast food chain restaurants in the world.

Incompetent people working here. Came here @8:00 pm on January 7, 2015, spent more than 30 dollars, they forgot our large fries, and when we brought it up to then, they proceeded to argue with us, I don't care if you didn't charge us, just charge us and get us what we ordered. Even though we had to correct her that it was a large and not a small fries when ordering it. Will definitely be letting their upper management know, by that I mean their regionals and not their store managers. If your customer is wrong, don't argue with them, just fix it and move on. Apology would have been great too.

The first time I went to this McDonald, they had THE BEST french fries here!! Every time we would order french fries from different McDonald, I would always compare it to this Waipahu one and non of them ever came close to how hot, crispy and delicious it was. So when we were in the area again, it was a must that we stopped by this McDonald and get their Fries to see if it was the same... or on that day they just happened to have the perfect fries. I must say it was not as good as the first time around, It was still hot and good... they just didnt have that crispiness.. just out of the frier.. im gonna burn my tongue.. yummy to it. maybe third time is the charm! Gotta go try it again

For a McDonalds, it looks nicer. This one looks like a cafe than it does a fast food restaurant. Theyve got "modern" style furniture and seats. It could pass as a low end hotel lobby. Ive read reviews for this place and a lot of it is not good. However, my visit here wasnt bad. The fries were hot and crispy and the burgers were carefully made....not slopped on like some other places. I guess the business makes a difference because I went during prime time lunch but inside was dead! The employees were motivated by their manager. Only thing is the air conditioner was either broken or not on because it did seem a little hot in there. Normally, I wouldnt give a fast food place 4 stars, but it didnt seem like a "fast food experience" to me.

I love this McDonalds. I work at waikele and prefer it here more because they have never failed me. Always giving out fresh fries. And the best thing I love about them.....is they know how to cook rice for their breakfast platters!

This has got to be one of the BEST Mcdonald's I've been to. Okay actually let me say this first. Before my whole LOVE for the farmer's market and "going green" I used to like Mcdonalds, however just didn't like their service. Seriously I don't think they train a lot of these guys right. But THIS mcdonalds was just absolutely fast, simple, seamless and rarely do I EVER have complaints with their food. They are also renovating so it's looking like it's going pretty good! And I LOVE the people.. they're so sweet and friendly, which is why I REFUSE to go anywhere but the WAIPIO mcdonalds for those reasons. OH and the $1 drinks... you really can't beat that. But in GENERAL i now give ALL mcdonalds about 1-2 stars. They need to step it up as far as the quality of food and the training of the people. And now I'm talking about IN GENERAL. Also it seems like every Mcdonalds I go to (besides Waipio, unless I just get lucky visits) they almost seem to always have crappy old fries... I like um FRESH... seriously

So today my boyfriend and I went to this place for a late snack. I was craving the new macadamia nut iced coffee because it's so onoz! When it was our turn to order, when my bf said that I wanted the new flavor, he was saying the other flavors! Making like they didn't have macadamia nut flavor at all!! Like seriously? Are you that new?!? I was so disappointed! So later on I pasted by the mcdonalds by my neighborhood and they had a big signed that was advertising the new macadamia nut flavored iced coffee! Like seriously? Ruined my night! And sad to say the mcdonalds that was close to my house was closed. And on top of that at Waipahu mcdonalds, the employees there are so unprofessional! They were horse playing around in the lobby, other employees was working on things making the tables all messy and the ground all fluttered with rubbish! Also, my boyfriend and I got our food and beverages after like 5 minutes when they had so much workers working and we just ordered something that would take less then five minutes to make or even less then 3! So disappointed!

  • Greg C.

They deserve the extra star from me...they've cleaned up nicely, they've renovated' they've even put in new landscaping! More times than not, they give me extra ice when I ask for it. The renovation has made this McDonalds pretty chic (for a McDonalds)!

We all know the quality of food from McD's. And we all know the prices. So this review is about the location, service, staff, etc. When reviewing chain restaurants, everything will be the same. So when reading other reviews, I can't see how others can say that the burger tastes "better" at such and such compared to another. Because the only thing that separates all chain locations is the staff, service, etc. Location doesn't make a great McDonalds, nor do $1 drinks. Sorry to diss and come down on Keri K.'s review of this McD's, but I just have to disagree with the majority of what was reviewed. The location of this McDonalds is NOT a prime location. I find it irrelevant regardless if it's on the thoroughfare to the H2 or if it's near the industrial area of Waipio Gentry. There are many other McDonald's with similar locations. The one off of Nimitz comes to mind. It's before you get onto the H1, and it's near warehouses, too. The reason why the location is NOT prime or even relevant is due to the fact that it shares the parking lot with Shell. People go in and out of this place like there's no tomorrow. When turning into the McDonalds from Kam Hwy to Ka Uka and then turning right again, you are often stopped right at the entrance due to a poorly timed stoplight or a backlog at the poorly designed drive thru. Parking is even worse with only a few spots to park in. There's not many seats to sit in. Which makes it roughly a drive and go type of establishment where much of the focus is the drive thru. Hence a true fact on what Keri K. stated. Staff is iffy. I go here not so often, but it's sketchy if the staff knows what you want to order. My orders were incorrect. Person did not LISTEN to my order fully and was only concerned if it was "for here or to go?" And that's what really makes me irritated. I'm not even through ordering when I get "is this for here or to go sir?" Wait until I'm FINISHED with my order, then I will tell you if it's eat in or take out. I'm a person who WANTS great customer service, and being that this is a McD's, I should have expected a lower expectation, but still.

Fast service but forgotten to give me a receipt and charged me extra for large fries saying it was charged as med. Had to go back for more food items that they didnt give me. Ripped me off.

One bad thing about McDonald's is if you don't order chicken McNuggets they will charge you for barbeque's sauce. .50 cents per sauce. So if your order a meal you pay roughly over 6.00 dollars just for the meal add .50cents for barbeque's sauce that under 7.00 dollars for a fast food meal. Now for 7.00 dollars you can and get a plate lunch at another business. Mc Donald's complete meal prices rival that of a plate lunch business. Most consumers would choose the plate lunch over a burger meal.

This McDonalds is close to home but I tend to go else where. Why didn't I go else where!?!? Well I had a Livingsocial coupon for a Big Mac, so I ordered that and large Fries. I mentioned that I had a coupon and they said to drive to the pay window for my cost (boo). Why can't they figure out the cost right then and there? I don't care for the merging of lanes. The wait is even longer! Got to the pay window and a guy (kind of creepy) was there not the woman who took my order. He charged me for the Big Mac and I mentioned that I had the coupon. He apologized and then said to go. I was like what about the fries and he said no need. I thought score!! Then I get to the pickup window. The lady was nice and said enjoy your Big Mac and fries.I grabbed the bag and it felt light. But of course, I did not check. I should have checked!! I only got my fries!!! WTH!! Stupid on my part for not checking! As mentioned in other reviews you get one napkin if you are lucky and no ketchup. They stopped asking if you need ketchup. I can understand one mess up but two?! They may have renovated the place but they need to renovate their workers!!

Whoo hoo! Monopoly is back! And although I haven't (or I've tried not to) eat too much McDonald's the Monopoly game and my favorite fries is totally my weakness. The location here is quite convenient since it is really close by my house. I can even walk if I wanted to. But in any case. I drove by the other day and noticed a whole lot of construction going on there. Imagine the relief when I saw the large sign that said: Still open during construction. Yay! So I went through the drive through to get my favorite meal- chicken nuggets with bbq and hot mustard sauce. And I got 4 game pieces! No instant win but maybe next time. The staff at this location is always so friendly and services every customer with a smile and a hello. My food is always super hot and fresh and I don't think I've ever waited very long here. Fast and efficient! Hopefully this location has my winning piece and if they do, it will be fries all around! #Yelp 365 Challenge-073/365

This is a review of the McRib... This sandwich is at most a giant oblong sausage from the breakfast menu bathed in glorious barbecue sauce... the sauce makes the sandwich of course, and it in reality looks nothing like how they portray it on tv. The sauce is a dark brown reminiscent of the KC masterpiece, as opposed to the firetruck red depicted in the commercials. It is tasty, but if it goes away again, it won't be missed since I've figured out the secret... buy a sausage McMuffin and dip it in KC masterpiece bbq sauce. The fries on the other hand are always super tasty! (hence the 3 star rating...)

You can't really go wrong with McDonald's because it's always exactly what you expect it to be. This location is always constantly packed to the brim in the drive thru and the few times I've gone inside to order (to avoid the drive thru line), I've had to deal with a bit of a wait. The fact of the matter is that the effectiveness of this restaurant has to do with their customer service. Every now and again, when the drive thru line gets absolutely insane and starts snaking around the parking lot and in through the road, they send out an extra employee to take orders of cars further back in line. So a few cars order from the take out window, and a few get their order taken by a live person with a headset who calls it in. So, if you were ordering from the person, when you get up to the place where you'd normally order, they put everything up on the screen so you can see you total. It makes everything run much quicker and smoother. All in all, this place can get their stuff done in a quick, friendly, and professional manner when it's required.

  • Nicole K.

So close to home...I'm always here in the mornings for their coffee :) Way better (and cheaper) than SB. I think it's a pretty good location. However, I wish that the drive-thru wasn't such a hassle. If the line is long, it's so hard to make that right turn into the parking lot.

    (4)
  • Kim W.

This seriously might be the fastest drive through for McDonald's on island! They even send out people when the line is backing up to manually take orders to speed the process along. Everyone is super friendly here and I have never gotten an order that wasn't perfect here (and I am on picky lady!). All the food is fresh and made correctly. They are also very good about substitutions. I order the bacon, egg, and cheese biscuit and sub a muffin for the biscuit to save calories. Never been a problem at this one :) The inside isn't huge, but it seems most people use the drive through. The parking lot is a little crowded, but the speedy service makes up for it!
