Volcano Country Cottages - This place was great. We stayed in the Artist's House and it was perfect. Every day was started with a yummy breakfast of homemade breads, eggs, fruit, juice, coffee. Sandy and Garret are wonderful people who make you feel comfortable sharing this part of paradise. Garret gave us great tips on where to go, what to see, when to see it, where to eat, how to time the day... Can't wait to go back. If you just want to chill out - No TV just you a comfortable, homey, inviting place. You have got to try this place out!

We are extremely happy our travels brought us here, especially since it's just MINUTES away from the Hawaii Volcano National Park. Owney's Bottomline: Cheap, comfy, convenient and the perfect couple's get away on Big Island. The owners are VERY helpful and enjoyed giving us local tips on how to enjoy the park and the remainder of our stay on Big Island. They were also very respectful of our time when we let them know we had to decline a tour of the property since we were on such a tight schedule. We stayed in Ohelo Berry Cottage and found it clean, warm and comfortable. No TV or internet in the unit, but we cleaned up, dressed in our bath towels, listened to hawaiian music and had our best night's sleep in Hawaii. I wasnt a big fan of the breakfast, but my girlfriend really enjoyed the fresh fruit and both of us were big fans of the fresh banana bread. I also REALLY loved the fresh cream for my coffee and OJ in the fridge. Try out the lau lau at the deli down the street. it was FANTASTIC! A general tip for seeing lava: Pay up for a helicopter ride. on foot you can only really see it at night and the weather on Big Island is a bit spastic. The night we were there it was cold and rainy. We had a blast, but wish we could have gone on a helicopter ride to complete our trip.

Great location for close access to the national park. The owners of this B&B know a lot about the island, especially different places to see within the park. Some good advice about what to do with limited time in the park. They even gave us some recommendations on things to see and do after we left the park and continued our trek through the Big Island. We stayed in the Artist's House which was fine. The bed was comfortable and the other normal elements were in find order. They had fresh fruit and homemade bread out for us for our breakfast along with eggs in the fridge if we wanted to make some eggs for ourselves. Unfortunately, it was quite rainy while we were in Volcano so we didn't get to see as much as we would have liked. I would recommend staying in Hilo and driving over to Volcano when you know the conditions will be decent for exploring the park.

Perhaps one of the best B&B type places I have ever stayed at. Sandy and Garret were just so friendly and wonderful, wanting to make sure everything was ok. Our room was well decorated, CLEAN and the bed was really comfortable. I loved it and wouldn't hesitate to stay here again. Wish I could have stayed longer!

We stayed in the Berry cottage for honeymooners during part of our honeymoon trip a couple of years ago.. It was an absolutely awesome place to stay. First of all, the innkeepers were very attentive and nice. After a day spent touring the volcano area, we were met with a large umbrella and a bottle of champagne (it was pouring rain.) After thanking them profusely, we took glasses and champagne to the hot tub in the middle of a shady grove of trees. Instead of turning on the lights, we lit the candles that were provided. It was very romantic listening to the rain on the tin-like roof as we sipped champagne while soaking in the hot tub. We also enjoyed the fresh fruit for breakfast as we sat on the lanai. When it was time to go, we hated leaving to go to another part of the island. As we drove away, we consoled ourselves that we would be back again for one of our anniversaries...

Very beautiful and comfortable cottage. Felt like a home away from home. Separate cottages are surrounded by tropical gardens. Breakfast provided, jacuzzi, wifi in an office space, and garden sitting areas. Owners Garrett and Sandy were very friendly and helpful. They were able to suggest things to do all over the big island.

Sandy was really helpful in planning our itinerary out and about the park and heading to the lava flow. They even provide flashlights. The cottage was simple, but very comfortable for four with a lovely and QUIET surrounding. Breakfast included fresh fruits, fresh coffee, milk, oj, and just about the best banana bread I ever ate (with macademia nuts ftw). The only complaint is the hot tub wasn't hot enough for me at 37C. But that's typical in the US. I need 42C+ to hit the zone. At least it wasn't as bad as the Outrigger's which should be renamed tepidtub.
