Zippy's is a staple of the local food establishments. I enjoy eating at the restaurant when I have time, but I usually phone in my orders & just pick up & go. This past weekend was extra busy since it was a long holiday weekend. I should have called in my order for a bucket of rice ($10), but I thought what the heck it's just rice it shouldn't take too long. Boy, was I wrong. I stared at my bucket of rice for 10 minutes as it waited for it to be seen by the workers. I didn't want to interrupt their system so I sat & stared at my rice until my number got called. Tip: always phone in your order unless you're just stopping by to get your dessert fix!

Always so busy. It's the same comfort food that we have known all of our lives growing up in Hawaii. I'm just glad they have a lot of parking in the town center. I can't believe the prices of certain things that they have here. The oxtail soup was outrageous in price. But it was so good that I had to buy it. I also got the spaghetti and chile chicken mix plate which I always get. Everyone that I go there it's good food at ok prices. Wish it was a little cheaper. But I will be back because it's consistent and quick to get.

Truly becoming disappointed in Zippys! I'm finding myself here less and less. Came here the other day waiting to be seated at the restaurant side for almost 10 minutes (no one waiting in front of us). No hostess? All the waitresses were busy taking care of their tables. We were about to leave until a very friendly and hardworking manager ran over to seat us, I believe her name was Liz. As we sat down we received pretty good service. Got refills when our cups weren't empty yet but my food was cold when it was served. The amount of nachos my husband got was about half the serving of what we use to get! Zippys seem to only raise their prices but their portions are less and quality have seem to go down. As we were seated and ate our meal for about an hour to an hour and a half, we found other customers were having the same problems...waiting forever to be seated. As my 2 year old daughter was finishing up, my husband went to go pay for our bill. In the mean time, our toddler had to go "potty". For all you parents with toddlers that are potty trained at a young age, you know the bathroom visits become pretty long. As we headed out to meet my husband, I found him at the take-out talking to an employee. He told me he was still waiting to pay for our bill! He thought another waitress (her name was Rachel), was going to help him but she looked at him waiting, completely ignored him, and left him waiting. I found this extremely rude! Every waitress for themselves that day I guess. The same manager, Liz, we found working hard at the take-out. I felt really sorry for her!

Half eaten or broken off hamburger steak. Check your take out orders before leaving. I got home and sat down to eat, opened my plate and saw this. Really? What happened to standards? Again, check your take out orders before leaving.

This is a hit and miss spot. We enjoy coming here after a Friday night movie tradition with the kids. One thing I can say is we haven't received bad service, the staff is very nice. The downfall here is they have a hard time turning around tables. You will see up to 12 empty tables that just need to be cleaned off in order to sit the growing wait list. The food is your average local and American food choices. Our family orders a variety of items when coming here, and so far they have been ok.

Soy garlic chicken! I've never had it! I don't know why? oh that's right I'm a creature of habit and don't try new things once I find something I like. boy am I glad this one had a big picture on the menu and was a special. everyone at the table had a piece and wished they had gotten my meal instead... guess that means this is what I'll be eating here whenever I travel back. delicious! love zippys.

Whenever I need a cake at the last minute, I head for Napoleons Bakery at Zippy's in Mililani. Napoleon's Bakery is always fully stocked with the most delectable cakes. They have many varieties of cakes such as: Chantilly Dobash Chocolate Dream Chocolate Haupia Haupia Peach Bavarian Red Velvet Guava chiffon Blueberry chiffon Or the special flavor of the month I've tried their chantilly, dobash, haupia, guava and peach bavarian. All these cakes are very delicious and scrumptious. Two thumbs up. The staff at the bakery is always friendly and helpful. I've always had great service. Yesterday, I was looking for a peach Bavarian cake for my mom's birthday. I inquired at a few bakeries around town and no one had it. I thought to myself maybe Napoleons Bakery might have it. I called and spoke to Skye ( male staff). I asked him if they had peach Bavarian cake and he replied "Yes, we have three left." I asked him if he could put one on hold for me. He replied, "Yes, do you want writing on it?" I said, "Yes, Happy Birthday Mom." I told him thank you and I was on my way to pick it up. He was very sweet and helpful on the phone. When I arrived at the bakery, Skye showed me the cake, and then he rang me up. He was very sweet and helpful throughout my visit as well. Thank you, Skye for your wonderful service. My mom will be very happy with her cake If you need a cake for any occasion, go to Napoleons Bakery. Their cakes are De...Lish! FYI : they will write on any cake free of charge. Other bakeries will charge for writing. They will not disappoint.

We come to this Zippy's all the time! The food is good, the atmosphere is comfortable, and my mom and I are both in agreement when we say that this location definitely has the friendliest staff. The waitresses are always smiling and helpful. Aside from one incident a while back, we have always had a positive experience with the Mililani Zippy's.

I really didn't want to update my review again because it looks like I'm picking on them, but I needed to make note of the service we get from Terri. Terri is a great server, we've had her several times on our late night excursions but I /never/ managed to get her name. She's in the same vein as Aaron from my prior review of the Waipio location. Fast and polite plus she remembers people that come in. Today's food was way better than last time, no burning, no oil but still no seasoning on the patty. Our original egg issue hasn't returned since my original review 500 years ago so I think I will finally lock this in as a 4 star review, making this my final Yelp! Update.

I have to say that service definitely has improved at this Zippy's. Normally we would have to wait to get a table but we got one as soon as we walked in. The server came within minutes to take our order & we got our food within 10-15 minutes which is very good considering how it used to be a few months ago. I had the Zip Min which was very good & my hubby had the Zip Pack which he liked except for the fried chicken which was kind of hard & looked what appeared to be old & not fresh. I would have given 5 stars if we had our waters filled at least once. I would visit again though!

We have been visiting this location quite a bit lately for maybe the past two months now, never a problem, until last weekend when I did a phone order. I always order a pound of spaghetti meat sauce (1-2lb, whatever is the $9.95 one is) and the woman over the phone kept telling me they do not sell it that way, it was in a lesser container and I kept telling her this is the way I've always ordered it, so why is there a problem now? Anyway, I also proceeded to order chili rice bowl and that completed my order, so I KNEW that my order should have totaled near $15-16 with tax. She said my total was $7 something so I KNEW she did not do my order right. So we arrive and yes, she did not charge me for the bigger container and ignored my request and charged me for the smaller container. I find that really unacceptable, because it is like she ignored my order since she did not want to really find out what container I was talking about, hence getting my order wrong and just did not care. I ended up having to WAIT and waste more time at the register when it should have been RIGHT the first time. I found it very unprofessional and ignorant. Too bad I didn't bother looking at her name, so I couldn't tell ya who helped me. Usually we have NO problems at this location, so I was surprised to have a problem there at our last visit.

After a pleasant experience at the Zippy's in Kahului, we figured this would be a decent option for breakfast today. Was just ok. The Zippy's omelette wasn't very flavorful and the broth in my Saimin was quite bland. The chocolate filled donut, though delicious, wasn't filled with anything...just some chip plate on top. The waitress was top notch, kept water and coffee flowing and very pleasant. My recommendation...hit the bakery counter ;-)

  • Percito D.

I love Zippys but they need to get rid of the call service center that takes your orders. They never get any of my orders right. It's seriously aggravating to the point I won't order till night time if I decide to make a phone order.

Zippy's in Mililani is going down. For the past two visits, we had the same shoddy waitress (Michelle, older woman with a bad attitude). I want to write about the positives but not sure there are any. 1) both visits the utensils came out blazing hot, lucky I felt them before the kids could touch them. 2) utensils are always dirty, as well as under the table 3) the French Fries has been arriving burnt to which I send back then comes back slightly uncooked (this is due to dirty oil!!!!!!). Bye Zippy's, going to miss you

My first time ever checking Zippy's out, and after a doctor's visit (right across the street) we were in the mood for some donuts! I was deprived from donuts for a while, not like in New York where you have Dunkin Donuts in every corner! When I started seeing the display of their pastries I was very excited to try some, especially the chocolate ones! We got more than a few donuts and some donut holes (yum yum). After we got to the car and opened up that bad boy box, it was pure deliciousness. This place has some really good pastries! I noticed they offer food too, which I will try eventually but since I didn't that is why I gave it 4 stars. Until next time Zippy's, your food better bring it the way those soft delicious chocolatey donuts did!

Service has improved quite a bit. Although busy, we did not experience a long wait as usual. One suggestion is that once the food is delivered to the table, the waitress should stop by to ask if everything is okay. Waited a bit after our meal to order dessert. Being that it's Mothers' Day, kinda busy.

This was my first time eating at this location. I like the ambience - very clean and enough space for both sides of the restaurant. Parking is easy to get in and out of. Though it was a bit trouble to find since it was on the back side of the Town Center and the only store back there is Pet Smart. Our food was placed in a quick manner and our waitress friendly in taking our orders. When one of the dishes wasn't to our liking, we called on someone since our waitress was busy and it ended up being the Hostess as she came back from seating a family. She gave us a cold look and took our dish to the kitchen, as our waitress in formed us about the dish apologetically while the Hostess continued to seat guest with a blank face. Seeing this Hostess made me wish we sat on the take out side. When you dine at other Zippy's the food will taste the same - which is one good thing. Since it was cold and raining - I had a Wun Tun Min and Small portion Chicken plate. I know that some of their food is pre-made; I just wish they didn't serve it in the shape that it comes out of. When I looked at my noodles, even though the broth was steaming hot, the noodles sat like a square and cold when I first took a bite. I had to break apart the noodles with my chopstick to get them warmed up, but that made the broth cold. So be careful what you order.

Ever have a craving for saimin or a zip pac for breakfast? Zippys is your go to restaurant. You can order anything off the menu except for the daily specials at any time of the day, whether you choose to dine in the restaurant or take out from the counter. Don't forget your desserts from Napoleons bakery while you wait!

  • Justin H.

Always excellent service, but the food portions are ridiculously small for the price. Seriously the chili, chicken mix plate is a joke. The amount of chili is less than a small chili bowl with rice. The chicken look like quail. If it weren't for being open late at night and having excellent service I'd never come back. Come on Zippy's...even L&L knows how to portion their food! And they've had price increases as well.

My family and I eat at this location at least once a week and have been doing so for the past 16 years. As I have stated in several of my reviews am VERY PICKY! My family and I will request our server EVERY SINGLE TIME. In order of request: Jeff, Terri / Paul, Jackie (sp?) If they are not working which has happened only about 2-3 times we go else where. I have to say my order isn't always PERFECT but my service is ALWAYS from the heart. My family and I feel at home here. When we have family visiting from the mainland we ALWAYS bring them here. We do not nor have we ever been employed at Zippys. Previous post by Ronald L. was him actually witnessing customer service at its finest. On that particular day Jeff was our server and I waved down Terri to say Hello she kindly asked how our 15 year old daughter was who was obviously missing and is currently abroad was doing? I said she was doing fine but we miss her very much and showed her a picture of her in Italy. My family and I sincerely apologize to you Ronald L for your children not getting their refill of soda...if we happen to see you there we will be sure to buy your children a couple of drinks. To Terri chin up love, you're the sweetest person there!

Mililani is kind of devoid of good places to eat. When you think about Late Night eating...the choices are even less spectacular. That was always why Zippy's was one of the few "go to "places in this little sleepy town. Well, not to say that Zippy's doesn't offer good service, because they do. Great service most all the time. The horrible thing about this location is that they are horribly careless when it comes to completing take out orders. I mean, how hard can it be to get a side order of mashed potatoes with gravy???? Seems at this Mililani location, the answer to this question is NEVER!!! We have ordered from here on 4 separate occasions...adding side orders of 2 scoops of mashed potatoes with gravy...First, we are told "No, sorry we can't serve it that way". Really???. They after asking to speak to another server, we get to place our order but then when we get the order home...what do we find??? YUCKY LUMPY DRY mounds of mashed potatoes with NOT A DROP OF GRAVY?? I understand if mistakes happen once...maybe even twice. BUT 4 times??? No way!! Not to say that we havent called the restaurant to let them know that they forgot our gravy after they charged us for it...because I definitely have. I even make sure to mention my previous experiences but they still get it wrong. I don't know what it is about Zippy's where mashed potatoes are served with out gravy?? OK, I've vented now...maybe the next time I will just order mashed potatoes with a bucket of gravy on the side.

The go to place, old reliable zippy's! The place to be after high school football or events and now the place to grind after the club. Casual dining with a wide variety of local food and diner type of setting. Perfect for groups and kids, gotta love the pastries and cakes

I like coming to zippys because it's usually fast and the food comes out cooked and hot. But tonight the Mililani High School is having its carnival tonight, Saturday and, Sunday. When me and my family came inside we had to wait maybe 10 minutes or less to be seated and are currently waiting for our food. Wow this place is packed and busy.

I don't understand how a restaurant can serve Asian food but not carry Sriracha. Sriracha has become a staple in almost everything now and it's just disappointing that it's not available. Tabasco sauce is just not good with fried noodles (in my opinion anyways.)

  • Taz M.

Our waitress was polite and quick with our order and kept coming back to refill our drinks and check to see how we are. The French toast combo is always spot on. The bacon is crispy and the strawberry Belgian waffle was great.

This review is from my bfs twin 7 yr old baby girls (verbatim) The bread pudding ala mode was yummy with the caramel! The french fries are good! (As she burps and excuses herself) - Selena It smells good (the food) The hamburger tastes yum and juicy! (Giggle and hiccup) - Amaya The server, Rachel, is very nice (they found her name on the check) They reccommend other people come here. Thank you!

Zippys is the place to be if you want to go safe and easy. It is a little on the pricy side, but many locals come here for a great meal. Check out their specials board before you order and after you order your meal head to nepoleon bakery for a dessert. If you got late they don't have as many pastries! My boyfriend ordered the chili chicken plate which is a favorite amongst a lot of locals and I had a oriental chicken salad! When you come late night this is a popular place for large parties to gather. Especially in Mililani so expect to wait whether it be take out or sitting in the restaurant side. Make sure you check if their are any give always because sometimes they have free trips.

The food quality has definitely gone down and the prices have gone up. I haven't been happy with a meal here in a long time. So I avoid eating here. The zip pack seems to be the only thing I can get that is consistently ok.

Currently in here. Waited 15 minutes to be seated. There are 4 small parties in zippys so it is not crowded at all. 1 waitress took our orders all together and now it has been 45 minutes total and we finally got our drinks. Probably will be another 30 minutes for our food and my son is getting impatient. They do not realize that ppl have places to be. I know this is the morning shift, but you need more enthusiastic staff working in the morning.

Best Zippys I've ate at on the island. The food at Zippy's is pretty standardized so you know the style and quality of food from one location to another. What separates this Zippy's from the others is the relatively quicker service and the quality of service from the employees. I say relatively because the wait time for the food can be quite long at all Zippys, especially if you order fries for some reason. My go to food is their chilli cheese fries and their Zip Pack. if you are craving your Zippys fix and you are in Mililani, don't hesitate to stop on by.

To the server working on July 17, 2015 at about 10 pm at the Zippy's Mililani dine in restaurant named Terri O, as a wait help you kind of suck. So the food at Zippy's is pretty much predictable. For example, if you order Zippy's chili, you know what you're going to get and how it will taste. So I'm not going to review the food but the poor service I got. The poor service was not because the restaurant was busy because they were. I can totally understand slower service because the server or kitchen is getting slammed but she wasn't. My kids had ordered large soft drinks because they come with a refill. Simple enough right? So when their drinks were out our waitress is no where in sight. Fine, maybe she's in the kitchen. She walks by our table sees my kids drinks need a refill, addresses us that she'll be right back then goes to talk with friends or co workers, not sure who they are, who have just been seated at another table. I know this is Hawaii and if you see friends or family you gotta say hi but she was there awhile. My kids were sucking down their ice melt patiently waiting. Remember, she acknowledged us earlier that our table needed service but now she starts looking at pictures on her friends phone. Tick tock, tick, tock...still waiting for our table to be serviced, drinks refilled etc. By the time she finally comes back we're done eating and she asks if we want our refillable drinks in a take out cup.....REALLY.... No, my kids wanted it with their meal! Terry O. your tip reflected your poor service. Neglecting your tables to look at your friends pictures on their phones. Auwe.

Server was nice, but really slow. Food came out way too slow waiting for about 30 minutes. People who were seated after my party of only 2 people, got food before we did. When we got our food it was cold. Refilling on drinks horrible ended up not having water while eating food.

Why are the employees always happy and smiling? It must be something in the famous Chili. I love this branch of the Zippy's chain because there are the happiest and most efficient employees there. I order a diet soda and before I finish paying,,, there it is. I ordered some Chili to bring home and less than a minute a soda and Chili appeared. It was SO ONO! I'm a happy camper having this Zippy's in my neighborhood. I'm sure to return soon.

Don't get me wrong, I love zippys.....it's the Hawaiian Denny's. But the last time I was here, I ordered the small portion mahi mahi for $8.50 & got one sad piece of mahi mahi with one scoop rice & like 4 spoon fulls worth of corn. I didn't feel like it was worth $8.50. Server was nice and checked up on us, but he took forever to receive our payment! Maybe I was already in a bummy mood cuz I didn't enjoy my meal that much. I'll eat at zippys again of course, but not the same meal ever again!

  • Brandy W.

Zippy's: the Denny's of Hawaii. However, this Zippy's disappointed me greatly. On a slow Sunday afternoon (thank you football), I stopped in for some french fries. Fifteen minutes later, I get my french fries. Normally I don't diva out for french fries, but there were 5 staff members behind the counter and at least 3 cooks serving me and one other person (Remember I ordered fries!) There was absolutely no reason for that to have taken that long. Everyone seemed more interested in talking story than doing their job. I took half that time to get me my bottle of water from the fridge under the counter. I understand it's slow. So in my opinion, you should whisk through that customer so you can go back to that interesting story. Passing 3 stars for their table service. I'm actually a big fan of their table service menu, reminding me of the days of 24 hour Denny's. I have never waited for a table, and the service has always been prompt. Conclusion: Check out a different Zippy's for counter service (probably a counter service only location) and keep this one for table service.

Zippy's Chili Moco. Always good. Or is it the hamburger steak with onions and gravy? Or is it the chicken katsu curry saimin with side order teri beef?

I've never been a big fan of Zippy's, but sometimes it is the most convenient solution to feeding our faces. Came to this store with my cousin and his wife. He was looking forward to the oxtail soup, which he declares as very tasty. I had the Portugese bean soup, and a Chili Moco. Both were solid 3-1/2 The Chili Moco is a Loco Moco with Zippy's proprietary chili on top of the burger patty, but under the eggs. Don't remember what the others had, but they were 3's. One star added for the service.

youtube.com/watch?v=0Loe… What a nice song by Counting Crows. I think I just found my song for Zippy's. Because my ultimate future reality would to slowly see each Zippy's close one............by one and put up a parking lot. The only difference: I do know what I got til it's gone, and it's going to be one glorious day when there's one less Zippy's. Bad things have been happening to me recently and as they say--the chickens come home to roost. So I had to find out why all these things were happening. I looked at everything present in my life and found nothing bad and then I looked to the future and all is well which left me with only my past. In retrospect, I did find something not quite right not quite fair. I found that I wasn't giving this Zippy's a fair rating. So in all fairness, I need to give this Zippy's one more star. This Zippy's has a feel-safe feeling to it. It's like the feeling you get when you're at Shark's Cove or Three Tables. Also, parking is plentiful except near Pet Smart and American Savings Bank but anywhere else is great. The main point that I want you to take from this review is the feel-safe feeling that you get at this Zippy's. Thanks for reading the review.

We came to just the bakery part of Zippys, Napoleons, and while it wasn't the best bakery I have been to, it wasn't terrible. My kids liked their cakes, although it did look as if they crumbled quite easy and they didn't finish it all. I got the filled Malasada with Haupia and my husband got the Cherry "turnover" can't remember what they called it but a turnover is what it was. We took them home to eat and mine was filled with vanilla cream and his was the coconut turnover. We were both disappointed but they were ok. I would only return if we were in the area with my kids.

The day after my review, I received an email from a Zippys CS rep. She apologized for their error and would pass on my review to the Mililani manager to rectify any future issues. This received a full star bumping it up to 3 for making it right.

You can never go wrong with zippys. This is my go to food when I come back from the mainland. This location has both the fast food area as well as the sit down restaurant. It also has a bakery in the middle for you to grab a pastry on the way out. Pros: There is usually ample space and even if you wait, I've never experienced more than a 5 minute wait. The waiters and waitresses are friendly when you can get a hold of them, and very accommodating. The food is standard zippys food, always good and usually a different special every week so be on the lookout! Cons: The service can be spotty at times. While the servers are nice, they can get pretty busy and it may take some time to get your food/take your order. The price. Zippys has gotten pretty expensive in the last 10 years. But I suppose that is the cost of the restaurant chain becoming a popular staple. Expert tip: I recommend the chicken and chili! Gets me every time. And don't forget to add onions and cheese on the chili for free!

So, to say that my son loves Zippys would be an understatement. We go to Zippys at least 3 times a week and 90% of the times it's the Mililani location. Normally the service is pretty good, but the last couple of times the service has been slow and the food has been coming out lukewarm. Nothing is worse than going out to eat and not getting a hot meal. Today the waitress actually took my plate back and "reheated" it. What?!?! Since when does Zippys nuke your food? Totally disappointed with the service and now knowing that they nuke your meals makes me mad. I can reheat Zippys from the frozen section of the supermarket for less than what you pay for when you dine in. If it weren't for my son I would not eat here again.

Came here after dropping the dog off this morning for his grooming appointment. Why is it that when you don't know what to eat you end up at zippys. Probably because there the best all around good restaurant Service was extremely fast. Walked in she say us and then order our drinks. The. 5 min later the food came. Amazing

  • Chad G.

This is your typical Zippy's. The dine in is typically busy on the weekends, but not overly so. The wait help is very attentive. Much better than most locations in my opinion. The food is the typical Zippy's affair.

The bakery section of Zippys is just plain sad. It is even lower quality than walmart bakery products. Not to mention how salty the soups are. I'd say skip it if you are sodium sensitive.

I usually really enjoy all the food Zippy's has to offer, but recent experiences now have me thinking otherwise. A couple months ago, I ordered the famous Zippy's Omlette. It looked, smelled, and tasted like the omlette I've always enjoyed; but half way through eating this scrumptious omlette, I began chewing on a twist tie. Yes, there was a twist tie in the omlette.

If you haven't tried Zippy's Belgium waffles yet you are missing out. My favorite on their breakfast menu.

Ok all you mainland yelpers from across the U.S.A. Everyplace has their Denny's or Applebee's or a favorite family restaurant which is usually around every street corner, but when you come to visit Hawaii, Zippy's is our place to go for food that we are familiar with and is our place of choice late at night because most of them are open 24 hours, 7 days a week. Now this specific review is geared for you mainlanders who are not familiar with Zippy's and i will give you people a little foodie education on what to order and what to expect when ordering here at Zippy's ok? So here we go....... ZIPPY'S FRIED CHICKEN: The Fried Chicken Plate is one of plate lunches to order because their Chicken as well as their Chili is what made Zippy's. The Fried Chicken here is usually nice and crunchy and must be ordered with rice and macaroni salad. Now here's my little secret to you. If you do have a little time on your hands, i suggest you ask them to cook you a fresh batch of chicken so it comes out nice and juicy. They might say it'll take a while but stand your ground and say i'll wait... yelp.com/biz_photos/hFM5… SAIMIN: Ok Yelpers from around the world, when you here the word Saimin, it is not Ramen or Chow mein, it is Saimin which has been around for ages here in Hawaii. Now Saimin has a very light broth which is usually made with Bonito Stock and is served with noodles which are very thin. Now at Zippy's they add a little fishcake,Charsiu, and green onions. Always ask for extra garnish on your Saimin for about 45 cents more. It's perfect for rainy weather and cool evening's.. yelp.com/biz_photos/hFM5… CHILI: This is what Zippy's is famous for. Their Chili is always popular and is used in many different ways. You can have it over rice, or just have a bowl with crackers on the side. But im my eyes, if you want kill two birds with one stone, i suggest you order the Chili and Chicken Mixed Plate or or order a Chili Frank which is Chili with a Hotdog on it. Always ask for cheese and onions on your chili if you wish, or if you are gassy, you can for chili with no beans as well.. yelp.com/biz_photos/hFM5… yelp.com/biz_photos/hFM5… LOCO MOCO: Zippy's actually makes a pretty decent Loco Moco. Now for those of you who don't know what a Loco Moco is, it's a Hamburger Patty served on a bed of white rice and smothered with gravy and topped off with two eggs, usually served over easy. You could also order your eggs over hard or scrambled if you desire.. yelp.com/biz_photos/hFM5… PORTUGUESE SAUSAGE,EGGS, and FRIEDRICE: Now if you're having breakfast here at Zippy's, i highly recommend you have your Breakfast of choice with friedrice instead of whiterice. The friedrice here isn't the best i've had but they make a pretty decent friedrice here. It just takes your breakfast to another level when you order your Omelet or your breakfast entree with Zippy's friedrice.. yelp.com/biz_photos/hFM5… ZIP MIN: This particular saimin can only be ordered in the restaurant and not in the takeout area. This Saimin dish is served in a stainless steel bowl and has a little of everything. It is topped off with Charsiu,Wonton,Fishcake,Mustard Cabbage,Green Onions, and a piece of Deep Fried Shrimp. It's served with a little hot mustard on the side... yelp.com/biz_photos/hFM5… ZIP PAC or SURF PAC: Ok you visiting Yelpers from around the world, now if there is something you have to do before flying back home or on your way to the airport, you have to order a Zip Pac to go to bring on the plane with you. This meal by far, will taste better than any other dogfood they serve you on the planeride back home. The Zip Pac is a Bento that is served with a piece of Zippy's Fried Chicken,Spam,Teriyaki Beef, and Fried Fish which is served on a bed of white rice sprinkled with furikake ot you can order the Surf Pac which consists of 2 pieces of Fried Chicken, 2 pieces of Teriyaki Beef and a piece of Spam served on a bed of rice. When you eat this on the plane, you will attract a lot of attention and tongues wagging... yelp.com/biz_photos/hFM5… Was that informative enough for you fellow Yelpers from around the world? Zippy's is always gonna be a part of my life for years and Zippy's is a must try, even if it's just for a one time experience. As you can see, i have over 30 check in's at this one particular location in Mililani because of one particular worker there. Her name is MAILE KEOLA, and she is the reason why me and my other half eat here everytime. To be continued...

I would have given it a three stars because i'm very 'eh...' toward Zippy's in general (I mean, it's good, but it's not WONDERFUL like how lots of locals rave to mainland people. It pains me whenever locals recommend Zippy's to newcomers and guests to Hawaii, saying how great it is and what an iconic establishment Zippy's is, only for those mainland people to come away thinking how overrated and overpriced the place is.) The thing is that Zippy's really IS an iconic establishment in Hawaii--but mainly because of the sentimental value it holds in the hearts of the locals, not necessarily because of the food itself. Zippy's has always been that go-to place for pretty much everything: after our kids' ballgames, after graduations, before we go to potlucks because we don't have anything better to get or make, whenever people get late-night munchies and every other place is closed, etc. And again, I say that Zippy's food really is fine and good in general. But I think sometimes locals can mistaken their personal affection/connection to Zippy's for it being truly, objectively good on its own merits. And it really isn't. Anyway, about this location: As mentioned earlier, I would have given it three stars, but this location deserves a four because of our waiter; it seems as though he's been working there for years, and he's super polite and attentive--always refilling our waters and/or fountain drinks, checking up on us, knows the menu like the back of his hand, keeps us informed if something is taking a little longer than expected, etc. I don't know his name, but he's asian and around his late-20s to mid-30s. He's one of the few male waiters at this location, but he's really good at what he does. If anyone from Zippy's management reads this, I hope you give him a promotion because he deserves it. Surely I can't have been the first person to say good things about him!

This review is for the food not the service. The Waitress was very nice. If your looking for a good local flavor. Not here. It's Dennys but called Zippys. Not a fan. Zippy omelet not good, coffee weak. Sorry not my cup of tea. And I know someone's going to get bent out of shape over my review. There are so many better local places to eat. Go support that.

We ate our Christmas Eve dinner here. Our server was really friendly and nice. In fact whenever we eat here the staff is consistently friendly. This zippys is always busy but some how they always seem to manage to get our food out fast and hot. I had a hamburger steak and it was juicy. This is my favorite zippys to eat at.

I have come to my wits end on the counter service with the Mililani location. Their service is terrible! Tonight I ordered (2) two, not twenty, plate lunches. It took 25 minutes before I received my meal after asking on the status of my order. This is not the first time I've experienced poor service but its due for me to critique. I asked why it took so long for my order and the counter lead said they ran out of gravy! Can u believe that! They are more than out of gravy. This location is out of control!!!

Moving from Waipio to Mililani, i was a bit sad that we werent gonna be near my beloved Zippys location. My other half and I work weird schedules so we were pretty frequent at the Waipio location (knew the workes, # on speed dial..ect. sad i know). We decided to dine in at the Mililani location one night and it was weird!! Not busy but got sat in the back with screaming children, our server wasnt really a server, i mean she took our order and dropped off our food but didnt check on us. Food was cold, cold chili is disgusting btw. It just didnt seem right. Maybe i complain too much but with zippys prices going up and their quality going down i feel that im entitled to speak my mind. We will probably be back, Mililani doesnt have much food places.

Came here with my friend who was just visiting and of all the restaurants around the town center, she chooses Zippy's. But, it's all good. Zippy's is a great place and this location is one of my FAVORITE locations to go (not that I've been very recently). Maybe it's also cause right around the corner is Menchies and the movie theatre. I half knew what I wanted as soon as we sat down. Does one ever crave salad? Well, I remember getting the Chinese Chicken salad all the time and loving it. It comes with a piece of garlic toast also, the best part. When did Zippy's start doing half sizes? I don't remember but good thing cause that was quite plenty enough for me! I also got chili cheese fries, just cause it looked good in the menu...plus I hadn't gotten them or a while. You can't go wrong with chili cheese fries...mmmm.... Well, the salad dressing came on the side and I didn't even ask for them to put it on the side (plus). My fries came out with the salad...(so-so) I would have liked to enjoy the fries a little sooner...but then again, I didn't ask for it out first. And it came with the garlic toast! (plus) I love the half size portion; it was the PERFECT size but I was a little disappointed with the size of my toast...It was a lot smaller than I remember it being.. :( sad face. Service was good and it was super busy at lunch time when we came out. I was actually a little surprised cause it was lunch on a weekday... #Yelp 365 Challenge - 136/365

It's a zippys, what else is there to say. Food is ono and this location has both a dine in and fast food section. Both sections are nice and clean. Since this location is in the Mililani Town Shopping center the parking is good. If I'm coming home late I sometimes stop by here for a snack or a drink., it's awesome that most of the zippy's are 24hrs. The only thing I think it needs now is a wifi like one of the Kaneohe locations. My original review was on 3/6/13 which is above. But I wanted to add an edit because I was impressed with the Zippy's Customer Service that messaged me here less than a day after I posted my review. They told me they will look into wifi for this location. Even if it doesn't work out, I appreciate their time reading my review and for considering my opinion. XD

Customer service SUCKS. I said excuse to the 2 ladies that was working and they both saw me, but never help me. I asked for extra korean chicken sauce & the lady said it was in the bag, got home and there was nod sauce to be found. Hire new girls zippys.

Zippys is zippys. The food is yum and the hours are good for people like me who are always working late and want some chicken katsu! The only bad thing about Zippys is that its always busy and the wait time is a good 12-20. If you don't like waiting, just call and place an order over the phone. It's simple and the food will be ready for you when you get there. Saves a lot of time because you just walk up to the phone order register and pay for your order. 3 out of 5 of the workers that have helped me are friendly and nice.

I've never been a big fan of zippys only because the ratio of serving size to price was way off. With that said, I've never had a bad meal there, left hungry maybe, but food always tasted good. So we went to mililani zippys after my sons mayday, I ordered the loco moco, my son grilled cheese and my husband the zip min, which is supposed to be one of their mainstays. My loco moco came in a bowl, which I didn't care for (husband said that was the traditional way, he's such a know it all) The patty was thick, dry and definitely previously frozen. The menu said best loco moco. It was far from it. My husbands zip min which should be a safe bet was luke warm and the cook forgot to add salt to the dashi I think; it was soooo bland. Lastly my sons fries were cold, really cold fries? Don't get me wrong when we're desperate at 2 am we'll go back I'm sure but I think we'll stick with the chili chicken plate. And so should you. That was $40 and an hour of our lives we'll never get back. Our server however, who was in training, was awesome.

Zippy is the local 24 hour diner. I grew up with the Zip Pac, so whenever I come home I get it. I love the Mahi Mahi, Fried Chicken, Spam, and Furikake on the rice... also comes with Teriyaki Beef, but I don't really care for it. I was a little disappointed this time when I got it, it wasn't hot enough and the Mahi was soggy like it had been sitting for awhile, boo! Also went back to get some take home Chili (their chili is bomb!) and mac salad... kinda pricey! The barrel prices went up, too! However, no matter what, Zippy's is a must when I'm in Hawaii. My faves are the Korean Chicken Plate, Burrito with Chili, Saimin, Fried Chicken and of course the Zip Pac. From Napoleon's bakery, their Dobache Cake is good and I love their butter rolls!

You usually can never go wrong with zippys... We came in for dinner and had a very short wait time (FYI we came during their slow time) the server was friendly and did their normal order taking. It took a while for all of our food to come out. The food tasted all right and tasted better at other locations. Their chicken nuggets had white fat mounted to their chicken nuggets and didn't look very appealing to eat. Their oxtail soup tasted okay and the fried noodles was dry like it had been sitting and was part of an old batch. The club house sandwich took forever and was the last thing brought. While eating our food the server at another table dropped a whole plate of food and it seemed as if it didn't dawn on her as there was no reaction or sense of being sorry as the pieces of the plate came flying to our table hitting our feet. The clean up crew came quick and picked up the mess so that was great. Because the food wasn't the greatest we had room for dessert. Bread pudding was great, the apple napple a' la mode hit the spot, and the banana split was huge. Overall not too bad but could have been better.... Will give them another shot to see how it goes.

Well done Zippys!!! After arriving home from eating at Zippys we realized that the lady charged us wrong on our bill. So we called and spoke to the manager and he gladly helped us. He took our address and said he would mail us a gift card for the entire price of the item. Couple weeks went by and sure enough we received the gift card. Talk about customer service. 5 stars for Zippys!!!

The Mililani location totally gets on my nerves!!! You can call in a small two plate order and still wait 15 min. I don't like to complain about the time it takes to cook food because god forbid I get sick because of under cooked food, but on a more consistent basis, Zippy's Mililani has become a very unorganized mess!! I waited for a regular Teri beef plate with brown rice for 20 min, I can understand a hamburger steak, but Teri beef. The kitchen prep should have all that stuff already prepped and ready to go, so wtf!! I need to vent since it has happened more than once. If there were more 24 hour eateries available in the area, I would totally cross Zippy's off the list, but when your hungry , this place will to do. On another note, the eating can get really loud, due over zealous kids and their need to speak over one another, just fair warning if your a person who likes calm places to sit down and relax, no such luck buddy!!

Located in the Mililani Town Shopping Center next to Pizza Hut... old reliable; Zippy's. 2 dining areas: 'fast food counter' and 'restaurant'... separated by Napoleon's Bakery. Zippy's is usually a "last resort" place to grab dinner. When everything else is closed, when you're drunk, or when I'm craving saimin... this is my go to place. I usually make a phone order so I don't have to go in and wait. During lunch and dinner this place gets pretty busy!!... for the life of me I can't understand why. Menu: Food is not "made to order" most of the time and is okay... nothing to rave about tho. They have an array of items on the menu: hamburger steak fried chicken teriyaki beef zip pac surf pac korean chicken loco moco spaghetti fried fish chili frank fresh (frozen!!) fish chicken katsu saimin wun tun min chili burgers sandwiches and 'specials' that alternate daily... stew, curry, soups, chopped steak, pork tofu, lau lau/kalua pig, etc. Price: EXPENSIVE. Zippy's used to be affordable, but now the prices are forever increasing and the portion size and quality of the food DOES NOT match it's high cost. Staff: I've actually never had an issue with the staff here. Fast, friendly, and accurate service. My favorite is the wun tun min. Especially on a rainy night when I'm too lazy to drive to get pho... it's really good! The teri beef bun is actually pretty good too. Once in a while I'll eat a zip pac. 99.9% of times 3 out of the 4 items won't be fresh... so I always request it to be made fresh. A-OK... once every other month. There are definitely cheaper places to eat with higher quality food and bigger portions.

Growing up in Hawaii, Zippy's was the highlight/gathering place after a long day out. Over the years, the portions have become much smaller and prices have tremendously increased. This particular location is ok. The service is usually great but the decor could use some updating. I rate it 2 stars due to the portion sizes and prices. I remember the days of $6 Korean Chicken plates...and now you can barely even get a mini for that price. This was not even 10 years ago. Overall, Zippy's will always be Zippy's. Nothing more and nothing less.

ts so comforting knowing such an awesome place is so close to home. I love this location. Its so clean, its always busy, HOWEVER I have NEVER waited to be seated on the dining side and that my friend is PRICELESS!!! Great service, ono food, what more is there to say?

Every time I come to visit my sister in Mililani town I got to go to Zippy's. It's not like L&L hawaiian bbq it;s more like a hawaiian style "denny's" diner. My fave oxtail soup, the surf pack plate and the zip pack plate, it has small portion of spam, chicken , terriyaki beef and battered fish fillet and steam rice. The chili fries are good too.

It's Zippy's, it's convenient, and it's close to home; should I say anything more? Ok well, this being a review site, I suppose I should. If you don't know about Zippy's by now (why wouldn't you?) it's a 'fast' food plate lunch place. 'Fast' because they occasionally take a fairly long time to complete your order, even during off hours. However, the quality of the food is usually consistent, so at least you're not waiting for nothing. And the staff has always been friendly, too. Sometimes there are duds when you get your order, though. A few times when I ordered korean chicken, it came out soggy and just not very appetizing. One teri burger I got tasted like it wasn't cooked through enough. Don't let that deter you though, because these were the only instances I can remember of the food being bad. They always have a pot of their famous chili on a burner, so a chili bowl and any associated chili plates come out fast and at consistent quality. Their loco moco is also pretty good, but then again it's hard to mess up something that simple. I try to substitute brown rice any time I order to convince myself that Zippy's isn't as unhealthy as regular fast food fried junk, and it doesn't cost anything extra as far as I know, so that's a plus. Well, those three items (chili, loco moco & korean chicken) are what I usually order, so I can't comment much on the others. As for Napoleon's Bakery, it's pretty alright. It ain't no fine couture baking, but the donuts & pumpkin pie are nice and tasty. I'd give this Zippy's a 3.5, but the occasional slow service and dud orders bring it down to a 3, which is still perfectly fine, since Zippy's is my baseline for which I judge other plate lunch places. Besides, I give too many 4 star reviews here ;].

Ate here recently for dinner. Had breakfast and felt that while it was "ok", it could have been better. My breakfast Spam was great! Hash Brown? Awesome! Tasted really great. One of the best hash brown I've ever eaten, honestly. Eggs? Bleh! I ordered scrambled and when I tried to eat it, it was a big 'ole mess of moosh and was runny. I decided not to eat it and not risk getting sick on it. Was going to send it back, but the waitress was too busy with other orders and everything else. I have no idea why Zippy's is always crowded. The prices are going up, portions stay the same or shrink. Maybe it's because the only thing open past 10pm is Taco Bell in the area. Zippy's will not have to worry, though. As long as there the same types of people who go there all the time, they'll be in business. Me, however, will only go to Zippy's when I need to. When it's late............or when I'm craving Roast Beef or want to "try" to have a good breakfast.

Service is always slow, food is never hot just warm. Tonight my mini chili chicken combo was extra mini. I think there was only 2 tablespoons of chili. We buy here often and try to boycott this place, but there aren't many restaurants in Mililani.

It never seems to fail that whenever I or anyone in my family orders take-out here, someway or another the order turns out wrong. Last night for instance: I order 4 prime cheeseburgers with extra sauce and 4 large saimins separated to go. Went shopping at longs and city mill then came back for the order. I picked up 2 prime burgers with Teri sauce and 4 large saimins not separated. Well I made them redo the order until they got it right. How is it that they hire unmeticulous employees when they are dealing with food and money? I give them chance though but each time it gets harder and harder to do so. None the less, prime cheeseburger and saimin hit the spot last night because it was like 66 degrees!

If you're new to the islands or just visiting then Zippy's would be the Cracker Barrel of the Pacific. (Know disrespect to any of my fellow locals...haole's like me need something to compare it to). I do most of my business meetings here for several reasons. The food is great and reasonably priced. They have comfortable seating and large tables. The wait staff is top notch and any time I've had a problem here they've went above and beyond to fix it. Food wise my favorite is the chili moco (loco moco but with chili instead of gravy). Also the chicken katsu is in my favorites as well. If you don't get dessert you're a fool. They have one of the best pie and cake racks anywhere. The haupia pie (according to my wife...I don't like cocunut) is awesome and I love the lemon meringue.

  • Scott M.

They need a better system in the sit down restaurant. They don't seem to have hostesses or cashiers anymore - so you're stuck waiting for your waitress or waiter to close your check. Is that really fair to the wait help? I mean they are trying to serve food - should they be seating you and cashing you out? Add in about 10-15 minutes wait for them to get everything done.

It almost seems like no one cooks in Mililani when I go to this Zippy's. It always seems to be busy! We normally get seating really quickly even if it seems like there are 10 parties ahead of you. This Zippy's is really clean and their service is really pleasant (like they actually don't mind working). I always gotta have my chili cheese fries. Ordered the mahi sandwich. Pretty good. They also made sure my niece and nephew were occupied with crayons and placemats with activities on it. Anyway, to me this is one of my favorite Zippy's on the island.

I frequent this Zippy's quite often. Well its close to my house. I love Zippy's food. Can't go wrong with the many local favorites to choose from. I usually come here after we hit the clubs/bars in town and need that late night grub. I like to dine-in and enjoy my food while it is hot, if time permits. The service is slow during the graveyard shift. Yes because it is down to 1 server. The server was Anna, she was the best! But she moved to Vegas. Lucky her. When she left they closed the dine-in side during that shift because they had no one to fill it. But when I went here Sunday morning (2 am) they opened it up! Chee-hoo. Thank you to that one guy that had to work all the table by himself. Oh and a reminder at 3am the computers shut down for like 10 minutes or so. Then it comes back on. Self cleaning/start of the new day or something. I also like that during this time (between 2a-4a), the deliveries are being made. Fresh donuts from the bakery!!! Oh so good! Staff is friendly and they are very open. I went to do take-out on night with the boyfriend and as we were waiting for our food, the staff decided to talk about their paychecks. How much they make, how many hours they worked, over time, hourly rate, and so on. I was in shock. You never talk about your money like that especially in front of the customers. And especially when you ain't even working even though you are on the clock. Hello?!? Anyways... Next Stop Zippy's!

  • Krissy M.

Zippy's is always an integral stop on a Hawaii vacation. Sure, it's not glamourous, and admittedly, I have never ever ate in the sit-down area (always the counter service) but you truly cannot beat their chili and rice. In fact, there have been a few visits, here and there that I ordered something else (like their saimin or kimchi fried rice) but other than that, ordering truly is a no-brainer; chili and rice (with cheese, please!) Also a requisite element of the Zippy's experience? A stop at the dessert counter - the Napolean's bakery portion. Oh my gosh, jello cheesecake square, lemon bar, apple turnover...heaven.

This is my least favorite Zippys. They dont even greet you when you come in. A sign says "sign in to be seated" Lame. The service is usually poor and it is always loud. Our waitress last night, Michelle was wonderful.

This is my second favorite zippy's (after the waipio one). Okay wait, maybe the third favorite if you count the ones that serve sushi. Food is decent for what it is, it's fairly clean, and service is usually good. Sometimes it's packed though because there aren't many places open late in mililani. Can be kind of expensive but it's always there if you need a late night snack.

I'm sad that I have to give Zippy's only 2 stars. As a kid my mom and I would split a saimin and order a few pieces of fried chicken, and in high school it was the place to hangout and meet up with friends. Recently though, the quality of the food has gone downhill, and the service, just as disappointing. We went to this location for dinner on a weekend and the dining room was absolutely packed. I thought, okay, I'll give Zippy's another try, it MUST be better than my recent experiences at other locations. I ordered the hot roast beef sandwich which comes with mash potatoes and gravy. My bf ordered the oxtail soup. My sandwich bread was not only stale, but the crust was hard like cardboard. Also the gravy was way too salty, I could barely finish half the plate. My bf's oxtail soup was bland, there was more fat than meat, and the meat that was visible was stuck to the bone. Needless to say, both of us were dissatisfied and bummed out. The waiter was running around like a headless chicken and didn't even bother to check on us until after we were done. He asked if everything was okay and I indicated that the bread was inedible and the oxtail soup consisted of mostly fat. He sorta giggled and said sorry, and didn't ask us if we wanted anything else. Not that we wanted to order replacements, but it would've been nice to have had that option. In any case, this is definitely my last time visiting any Zippy's restaurant. I also reviewed the Waiau/P.C. location awhile back and thought my bad experience was just a fluke. But now I'm convinced that the entire chain has sacrificed quality for profit and good service for mediocre service. It is really bitter-sweet to abandon such a nostalgic place, but it's time to move on and hopefully discover another establishment that will create warm & fuzzy memories for me.

Zippy's got good chili. Sometimes they surprize me by having roast turkey. I'm a huge stuffing fan so when its not thanksgiving and I can get some stuffing I'm happy. This zippy's has all the same local fair (hey you went one zippys you went to them all!) But for some reason this place takes really long when it takes really long to get your order. Phone orders really help spead the process

Sat on the sit down side of the restaurant with my girlfriend and had a very nice server. Don't remember her name but she was very pleasant.

My Mililani Zippy stop! Like always great food, but this one can get really busy around the lunch and dinner hours. So be mindful there can be a wait. But the staff is super nice and on top of it.

Okay, here's the thing: if you live in Hawaii, you know that Zippy's is the go-to plate lunch franchise in the state. It's been this way for years, and, despite some stiff competition (L&L/Loco Moco), Zippy's is still king of the hill. Napoleon's Bakery, the in-store bakery, is no slouch either. BUT... their favorable reputation (and perhaps, their franchise-wide restaurant renovations) have caused a considerable increase in price and decrease in plate size. Gotta pay the bills somehow. This is not good. The recipes have also undergone minor changes in the past few years; the quality, has in turn, taken a slight hit. I don't remember my hamburger steak being this slim back in the day. One huge gripe I have is the chicken cutlet plate. One would think, as it is with L&L or Loco Moco, that chicken cutlet is simply crispy golden chicken katsu with gravy on it, right? WRONG. My regular sized-plate had two kid-sized slices of tough, gray, breaded meat (which I assumed to be chicken), smothered in what I assumed to be country gravy. I don't know if this is due to a new or lazy chef, and just confined to the Mililani location, but bottom line, it sucked. The wait here is moderate, considering the amount of business this branch incurs, being one of the rare 24-hour establishments in Mililani, and unlike the Wahiawa and downtown Honolulu locations, there aren't crackheads and homeless people loitering in and around the restaurant. So, that's a plus.

All I can say is chili moco with fried rice not white or brown!!

This Zippys is always crowded. There's also a lot of high school kids because Mililani HS is right up the street. It's a good place to eat after a late movie. I always like the Korean chicken and their chili moco. It's a must have after a late night. Parking is pretty good and there's quite a bit of inside seating for both take out and dine in.

Went to order a take out order 2 bowls of chili and a basic cheeseburger meal. waiting around and thinking, wow they passed my number 10 numbers back. so i asked about the order, and they said they were working on the cheeseburger. how long should it take for a simple burger, i think they had to catch the cow for my order. anyway, chili is pre-made right, it took 20 mins to get my order. don't know if they just forgot about it but, definitely not a normal time frame to get a simple order. tip: don't order the prime burger, looks like it takes a while to get the order. i can't expect much from these kind of restaurants, but i hate waiting around, for me time = $$$ next time i'm going to the fast food drive through.

This place is wonderful. Friendly and fast service. Very clean and comfortable atmosphere. The food is really good. I love their Korean chicken especially! You can even go to Hawaiian Food Online dot com and order Zippy's... weird but cool, huh?

Honestly you can't really expect much from a chain fast food place. So don't come here with your hopes up. The difference between here and the L&L at home is that the portions are pretty small. Left still hungry.. seems like lots of locals come here though... but they do order a lot more than we did... Their meat and spaghetti tasted like chili over noodles. the mixed plate was tiny and not filling.. Not great... blahs probably only come here as a last resort if nothing else is open....

Zippy's is defintely an institution. But that doesn't mean its good. Everything on the regular menu is very consistent so if you like something, it will be good across the chain. The variation will show up on the daily specials. Even the same restaurant, same dish, the quality, even taste can vary greatly. This particular Zippy's is no different. We go there once a week on average so we've basically eaten everything multiple times. The katsu (any katsu) is generally below average, often cooked ahead and re-fried resulting in dry meat. Clam pasta should be avoided. I've had it 4 times and only 1 was good, the other 3 times the clams were evidently stashed somewhere heated because they were dried into leather. The oxtail soup is sometime inconsistent. Once in a while, there will be a very pronouced sour note. It is unsettling for people like us that go there so often. So far, the kim chee sparerib soup has been consistently good. So is the golden fried chicken, chili, and anything on the breakfast menu. The bakery is decent but not great. Not that there is any real choices in Mililani. (Supermarket bakery doesn't count.)

My mom does not like zippys that much in which I don't blame her because the meals are average. Although I love their saimin, chilli, and desserts, sometimes I don't understand why they are that popular. Sure their are a lot of them on this island, but I don't personally think their food is the best in the world. Like others have said this place is better as a last resort situation. Anyways speaking of the Mililani location, though my experiences have been rather good with the dining side, the take out side...not so much. I came here with friends one night and decided to order from the "special" menu the shoyu chicken. Took over 30 minutes to prepare! My friends had already got their food and people who were behind me started getting their food. I didn't understand why a shoyu chicken special had taken that long to cook. But I finally told the lady how long I was waiting and she went to the kitchen to get it apologizing. Um, yah was it back there this whole time!? Then when I tried the chicken I was dissapointed to find it was cold! Could have been a lot warmer had she brought it out earlier. I was so mad. My friends were mad too. This is why I seriously don't recommend coming to the take out side. The service is sloppy. Plus majority of the things on their menu are mediocre. Only come here as of last resort.

Let me tell you a story about the Mililani Zippy's: One night, I had an odd craving for garlic bread. It was late already, around 9 pm, so my choices were severely limited. Do I want to go to the grocery store and by the ingredients or do I just want to pay for it already made and enjoy it? I opted for the latter. So i called in my order to Zippy's. Over the years, I've noticed their trends. The food portions become smaller as the prices seem to rise. I've forgiven them for this because this was my late-night high school hang out. I mean, its almost state law for locals to love Zippy's. So I go to pick up the garlic bread and I don't know if you've ever been to Mililani Zippy's but like most Zippy's, they have a window between the cashiers and the kitchen where the cooks can pass the food through. So I get in there ready to pay and I see the cashier folks packing my garlic bread. As I'm standing in line, I noticed one of the cooks in the back drop a slice of garlic bread. Then I notice him pick it back up and dust it off and put it on a plate with spaghetti. Yes folks, I witnessed Zippy's employ the notorious "3 second rule." What's worse, the old japanee man in front of me ordered the spaghetti plate! I'm not sure if he saw it, but he took his plate and walked away. I tried to warn him, but he walked past me. So when it became my turn at the register, I demanded to know if the cooks did the same thing to my garlic bread. Instead of any reassurment, the moke braddah came out from behind and kitchen and gave me that standard local moke braddah ansa "Why?" Enraged, I allowed the angry samoan in me to respond and asked him to step outside, to which he immediately ran back behind the kitchen and called his manager. When the manager arrived, he tried to defuse the situation by offering me the bread for free (!?!) like that was going to totally make me less angry. Not only did his cooks use their bare hands and probably drop my garlic bread on the ground, this jackass, A MANAGER, wants me to take the bread and eat it!?! Yeah right! So i snatched the bag, opened it up, and threw it in the air, still demanding that the punk cook meet me in the parking lot. Then I asked the manager if he wanted to take the cook's place in the parking lot. Both delclined. I left before the cops came, no garlic bread, angry, and tired, and never went back there again. Why these things happen to me, I don't know. Moral of the story, Kefe Zippy's.

Mililani Zippy's is the cleanest kept Zippys out of them all. We went there for dessert after a movie and was not disappointed. The fried banana sundae is brilliant but stay away from the fake banana's foster. A bananas foster is made up bananas fried in brown sugar to create a caramel sauce...Zippys version is basically a caramel sundae with bananas. Our service was incredible, drinks never left unfilled.

Anything and everything is good here from the take-out spaghetti to their bento boxes. They really should expand to the mainland, but keeping the chain local makes coming back a better experience.

What can you say, its Zippy's, an island institution. If my son and I can't think of where we want to eat, we usually fall back on Zippy's. There's always one nearby, food quality is consistent with a good selection, and prices are pretty reasonable.

Go here most Saturday mornings with the boys for breakfast. They do pretty good with breakfast - french toast sandwich and two eggs island style are my favorites. For each of the menu items (such as the loco moco), I have other restaurants that do them better, but overall a good value.

Unfortunately, I am going to have to give their Pork Katsu a bad review. I got a TO-GO order about 4 dinners. Mine was Pork Katsu, it was really really overcooked. I wasn't going to drive back there and request a new one. Sorry Zippy, but I just didn't have a good experience there. The place was decent though. Restaurant, families, everything else was cool.

My first Zippy's ever. Nice local feel. You just feel at home. Everyone needs to go to Zippy's when they first go to Hawai'i. Think McDonald's/Denny's but Hawaiian/Asian style and minus the Denny's racism (Denny has improved though) and replace it with local love. A good place to get a sample of local food.

I like this place so much I actually wrote Zippy's HQ to bring one to San Jose, CA. To my surprise they wrote me back! I don't remember the details of the letter because after they told me that they weren't coming I almost started crying. When I first arrived in Oahu this is first place I went to, even before I dropped off my luggage. Remember one thing...Zip Pac. For all of you that can eat a whole school bus then you will want the Surf Pack. All the essentials are included Teri Beef, Fried Chicken, Fried Fish, Spam, and rice. This place can always be counted on to provide good food, fast service and open late in most locations. This is a great place to go after a long night in Waikiki. Ohh I almost forgot YOU MUST TRY THE GRILLED CORN BREAD!

While Assagio's Mililani is my favorite all time restaurant, Zippy's has that special place in my heart from when I was small. The food choices are many and consistently good. Service is always friendly and warm. One of my favorite foods is Zippy's spaghetti and garlic bread. Yum!!! (Runs out door to Zips)

You know how sometimes it's late at night, you feel like something heavy, and nothing's open, so you do a Denny's run? We are now inclined towards Zippy's runs. Went there with my husband on a Saturday night. A fair number of people, but we got our orders quickly enough, and the staff was friendly. I only give it 3 stars because it is sort of like fast food (literally, we got confused and tried to sit down, and the lady said "you want the fast food right?") but it's much better. It's more unique compared to McDonald's or something, and I do think probably healthier, although maybe not by much. They even used to have two different types of veggie burgers, although I think I only saw one kind last time we went. Also vegetarian chili, which I still need to try. I'm just impressed they *have* vegetarian chili. I was craving mac salad that weekend, and I remember it being okay, juts enough to satisfy my craving, but not absolutely fantastic. I think I had had really good mac salad elsewhere at some point earlier in the week. So, overall, good service, decent food, 24 hours, and as a bonus, Napoleon's Bakery.... mm. :)

oh how i miss you zippys and wish that you could just hop the coast and meet me in california. i always get the spaghetti plate for my plane rides home so i have delicious food in my belly. the chocolate napple is a must have for me every time i go home and it's just too bad that arbys doesnt have their chocolate turnover year round. i love their beanless chili frank plate, even though those redonodo hot dogs are so bad for you, i love every bite. it's exciting that they brought in a new mini chili frank plate for the failing economy, but it's just not enough good stuff. some places in downtown las vegas serve up the zippys chili, too, but it's not like sitting in one of those establishments back home after a few drinks with a few friends.
