McDonald consistency and this location is new, modern location. Be aware that for us visiting mainlanders, the term "fast food" isn't applicable at most Hawaiian establishments; so; expect the same at this place too. Ugh, slow service! Prices are a lot higher than you'll find in the mainland. Look for local island offerings you'll not find elsewhere. Enjoy the "slow food" experience.

The people working there are not the britest in the bunch, there service is pretty slow and the employees seem confused. Positives: The place is veyr clean and the food is hot and good.

This "Fast Food" joint is anything but! It takes forever to get your food! Not kidding, sometimes you can be stuck in the drive thru line on average of 30 minutes!!! Also, after all that waiting, more than half the time they don't get your order right. What are they doing in the back for them to take so long to get the food out. Obviously they're not using that time to do quality check on the food... :(

They told us that they didn't have taro pie, but my sister witnessed them giving some to another group of people. We also wanted the Macadamia Nut Iced Coffee, but the cashier, Rose, kept telling us that there's only caramel, vanilla, mocha, etc. It was absolutely obvious that we wanted the MacNut Coffee because we said it over 5 times and even pointed at the sign that she clearly looked at a couple times. Bottom line, customer service sucks here.

Came for the island breakfast and taro pie.. both were great! But the manager scolded me for trying to take a pic of their menu. lol

This is unreal, i asked for mayo and the asked me to pay $42 cents extra. This is the first time this happens to me. I spoke to the manager and I the same response. Customer service is 0

The service here is slow. Like super slow, it's kind of ridiculous just how slow. One night we swung by to get coffee, which took a little while but the coffee was watery. A few days later we came back to have lunch before heading to the airport. It took us forever to get our meals because they were paying attention to the drive through rather than the people standing in front of them. I think we waited half an hour for chicken nuggets and a taro pie. (And damnit, they had haupia pie?! That wasn't on the menu so keep an eye out for it). The taro pie was mostly just sugar which took away from the delicious taro-ness. But yeah, slow. Whether you are going through the drive through or dining in, it's slow and you can't win either way.

Every time I've visited McDonald's in Hawaii, I find a new surprise. Rice, Portugese sausage, spam and eggs for breakfast. Coconut pie. Taro pie. And this time, Saimin. Yes. The noodle dish that the Chinese blame Japan, and the Japanese blame on China, distinctly Hawaiian, is served at McDonald's in a styrofoam bowl, complete with fish cakes, cha siu, seaweed, and disposable chopsticks. What an awesome abomination. It's everything you'd expect, and everything you wouldn't expect. It's prepared right before your eyes under the coffee machine hot water dispenser like a big Cup 'o Noodles (unexpected). The soup has that distinct MSG texture associated with most instant noodles (expected). For fast food, these noodles had a good bite to them (unexpected). This bowl of noodles makes your mouth feel like a whore (expected). As for the actual restaurant, it's big, it's clean, and it's conveniently located right off Kuhio Highway. Is it worth the stop? It's fun if you have an appetite for a different kind of McDonald's taste. Otherwise, it's the same McDonald's you get back home.

I dont usually frequent McDonalds for many reasons, but this McD's is the true exception to all the rules. We had breakfast & the pancakes were yummy! not rubbery, the biscuit was soft & warm not hard & harder, the eggs were actually good, the hashbrowns were perfect not cold & greasy. I had my first Haupia pie. They still fry the pies!!! (no baked crap) It was clean, the temperature was perfect & the employees were genuinely friendly. Next time im in Kauai I will definately swing in again.

i finally got to try mcdonald's breakfast in hawaii! spam - check. portuguese sausage - check. 2 scoops of rice - check. side of scrambled eggs - check. had the local favorite, can't quite remember the name of the platter i had, but it was the first one on the local favorites. i think it was bout $5.79. it was yummy goodness in my tummy! the eggs were whatevers though, the look of it made me a little scared too. they even include soy sauce packets, salt, and pepper with the fork/knife. cant go wrong with spam and rice, and the sausage was an added plus. i also wanted to try the haupia pie, even though im not a huge fan of coconut, and it was soooo yummy as well! I felt the pie was extra deep fried, so it made it that much tastier! the coconut filling was creamy, not overly coconut-y. yummy!! this mcd's is also clean and "fancier" than other mcd's. a real treat!

First time cashier asked me what kind of sauce I want with my sausage burrito. Lots of locals. Berry cherry was not to my liking. They should not make a drink based on cherry. Very kick backed staff but order was up in no time.

hawai'i is a u.s. state, but we should agree that hawai'i has a bit of a unique culture due to its history and demographics. whenever i visit a different country (or in this case just a slightly different culture), i know i don't so much need to try out their local food because i can get pretty much any kind of international cuisine in the californian bay area; but rather i need to try out the culture/country's take on "american" food. don't you know how pizza hut is 100 times better in korea? or how mcdonald's is 100 times better in taiwan? well, here we have mcdonald's in kaua'i. it's america, but what do we have different? well, the "local breakfast" menu is _great_! you can get spam, rice, and eggs or portuguese sausage (linguica), rice, and eggs. you can (at least for a limited time) get haupia pie! woohoo! this is good stuff! also, they have some hawai'ian coffee, which is more than the local starbucks can say. (starbucks sticks to the mainland pike's place stuff.) oops, while trying to include "breakfast" as a category for this restaurant, i accidentally selected "british" in the drop.down menu. ha ha! don'tchu know? mcdonald's is irish food! well; we ordered the portuguese sasuage, rice, and egg breakfast;, the haupia pie; and some decaf coffee. that was a great breakfast! we had to blot the linguica _a_lot_ though. the sausage was a little dry. although, i don't have a whole lot great to say about oki's diner, the linguica there was at least not as dry as it was here. "dry" _and_ "greasy;" isn't that funny? the haupia pie could _not_ have been healthy (neither was the breakfast), but it was delicious. the decaf coffee was also great. furthermore, the service at this mcdonald's is probably much better than at most mcdonald's i've been to. i mean, the cashier was being trained, but she was at least nice. you know, i eat mcdonald's most often for breakfast and most often during the snow months during my morning commute from the bay area up to tahoe for snowboarding since i snowboard most weekends in those months. i really wish i could have these hawai'ian breakfast choices along the 80 or the 50 up in nor*cal!

They have haupia pie!!!!!!! Coconut filled and FRIED, not baked. like they used to before everyone got all healthy and crap. Creamy goodness with little chunks of real coconut. And the shell was FRIED!!!!! I could've had 10 of these. They were heavenly.

Despite a recent rennovation, this is THE slowest and most inept McDonalds I have ever visited anywhere. Slow service, a drive thru that backs up onto the main drag, a parking lot designed by someone who doesn't drive - the problems are numerous and something had gone wrong nearly every time I've visited. I think mainland visitors would be appalled at this place. No kids playground either. There's a lot of other nearby fast food restaurants and any would be a better choice.

Clean McD that I visited en route to Costco as my search for the fried taro pie continued. Although I was disappointed again, this was the only location where they took the time to let me know that the elusive pie was no longer in season and was replaced w the underwhelming haupia pie.

My fellow instructors and I went here since it was near the training hall--on 7/24 or 7/26 morning and ordered a big breakfast, service/food is decent.
