While on vacation in the Garden Island, I had a craving for some Filipino food. I initially went to the old location on Rice St, and I was disappointed to say the least when I realized that they had moved! Reminiscent of Harold and Kumar seeking White Castle, wifey and I were undeterred and made our way to Puhi rd. Good thing we did! I've had Filipino food in Daly City and Vallejo and this was every bit as good if not better! Ma Lucy is a very kind and generous woman! She even gave us 2 free pastries with our order! It was so good, I made 3 trips here in the week I was vacationing. The portions are enormous as well! In fact every time we came here, we would just split a 3 item combo plate lunch. The Pork adobo, diniguan and pancit were delish! I can't quite remember what I ordered the first time, but I've got pictures. A great locals spot! On our final day before we left for the airport, ma Lucy gave us free coffee and pastries! I'll definitely be back everytime I'm in Kauai!

had to hit up a Filipino restaurant to see if they had sisig or lechon. this place is pretty small and I think mama Lucy runs the cashier. they didn't have any sisig or lechon :( it was like a traditional Filipino restaurant. 1,2 or 3 choices, with rice, pancit or both. I had to try the cream puffs so at the end of the meal I asked if they had dessert and she went into the kitchen and brought out 3 creme puffs on the house! so sweet. I'd give the food a 6.5 out of 10, but the hospitality a 10!

What can I say- filipino food express! I can't cook for sh*t and when I'm craving some home cooked love I go to mama lucy's. Not a restaurant, (being that majority of their business is catering partie) where you sit to, order, and get served but like a box lunch place and you order off the line- one choice two choice and so fort. Her desserts (not too sure what they are called) but they are well known on the island and oh so scrumptious!

We stopped by Mama Lucy's for a quick and cheap eat and were certainly not disappointed. This could have been my first time really savoring Filipino food that seemed freshly made and very home cooked. I especially liked the pork soup/stew that warmed me up on a cold day. The lady behind the counter (owner? Lucy?) was exceptionally nice and helped me choose my meal by explaining how each item was prepared.

The service was great, the place was clean. The food was average. Meat was dry. I was disappointed that the menu had no meat lumpia. Average spot if you're in a hurry.

The thing is... the food doesn't look particularly appetizing, and the language barrier is pretty evident. However, the food is delicious! The ladies are very nice, but won't really explain to you in too much detail about what each dish is. If you're unfamiliar with filipino food, this may be a little difficult. I've pretty much tried a bunch of things by pointing at them haha! I haven't met a dish I didn't like yet. Check it out. One of the better deals on island. Yum!

Oh man, I don't like giving such low scores but this place wasn't as awesome as I hoped. Went inside and pointed to what I thought was adobo and was told it wasn't. The person behind the counter pointed to what she said was adobo so i purchased a container of it and brought it back to the rental. When we finally got the chance to eat it, it definitely wasn't adobo at all. I should know considering I've cooked Pork Adobo enough times to know. Sigh... So anyways, the food I ordered was just alright. People working there were nice enough. I'm just disappointed at my food. The establishment reminded me of being back in the Philippines. Nice little bare bones shop along the side of the road. I'm glad I tried the place out though. :o)

Mama Lucy's is super sweet & extra generous! We went there 3 times while in Kauai. She always gave us complimentary pastries every time we were there. The serving was so BIG that me & the fiance shared a plate every time. I can't say enough good things about the food. It was delicious. Wish I could take mama lucy & her restaurant home with me. We went there on our last day at 6am before our flight took off & discovered she didn't have any filipino food but only american breakfast food available. I was pretty bummed because I was fantasizing about her cooking all night. We ended up not buying anything. She was so sweet and gave us free pastries & coffee anyways & wished us a safe trip home. Can't wait to go back to Kauai one day and grub on some of her cooking. =)

Great fried chicken and eggplant tortang! Extra heaping portions of food!! Although my mom can cook filipino food, she comes here to pick up takeout herself when she doesn't have time to cook. I m home visiting right now, so she's brought us home some of Mama Lucy's food and its good. Some of her foods have different flavors from what I'm accustomed to (adobo, pork guisantes) but not hard to get used to. Her filipino desserts are sweet and homemade. Mama Lucy herself is a sweetheart..

I first went to Mama Lucy's at the old location on Rice St. This location is much better, its brighter, cleaner and cooler. It also seems that they are doing much better at this location. The food is almost the exact replica of my grandma's cooking. Alot of fresh vegetables. Really authentic Filipino food. Mama Lucy is really nice too! I first met her at my Lelang's funeral (RIP Lelang). My grandma went with her to cater the food. She ordered Igado, apritada, coscarone, and other Filipino delicacies. After a long day of fishing, I treated my grandparents to lunch at Mama Lucy's. Once again, Mama Lucy was very nice, as she struck up a conversation with my grandma while we ordered. I got 2 choice of pork adobo and pork guisantes. The adobo was just the way I like it, vinegar-y!!! Pork guisantes was also good. Mama Lucy also gave us some pasteries with our meal. I had to get the coscarone again. Mama Lucy's=genuine Filipino food!

The food was ok, the plate lunch comes with dessert and complimentary coffee. For the price I thought that was awesome, it's rare to get anything complimentary for this type of restaurant. Although it needs a good cleaning. There was a roach egg shell in the coffee, don't know if it was in the coffee maker or the cup. We didn't say anything, but I have to deduct points for that.
