Oh no, my Ono was (supposed to be flaky and delicate) but instead was so rubbery I did not finish the gigantic 1"x3" rectangle portion. Moreover this fish does not yoke well with eggs, in particular eggs prepared poached. Pancakes were everyday Krusteaz-like. Nevertheless, the saving grace is the beach house vibe with the serene view of the ocean. Be amused by first time long boarders wobble as they paddle across the gentle waves...

Went here August 2012 and also February 2013, both for Breakfast. The first time around we had a Lobster Benny and Banana Nut Pancakes. The pancakes were decent but the Lobster Benny was the showstopper!!! I'm a big benny fan and this ranks right up there as one of the best benny's I've ever had! We had a brunch for our 2nd visit to Maui with some guests who attended our Maui desitination wedding. My wife had Loco Moco and I had Ono Benedict. The Loco Moco was pretty good, the rice and egg were perfect but the patty tasted slightly bland. Not the best Loco Moco we've had but still very delicious. The Ono Benedict was fantastic, but I was really looking forward to having the Lobster Benny! I don't think it's a regular menu item unfortunately. The restaurant is in a nice area and the view is fantastic with an open air view of the beach. I think the restaurant could use a bit of an update but it's not too bad. Overall I think our guests enjoyed the food. Take a look at our meal photos! Thanks Betty's Beach Cafe! Looking foward to coming back on our next trip to Maui.

You get what you expect here and I expected bar food and the game. Food is just "okay" but the beer is cold, so that's what's important! The view is amazing so grab a cold beer, sit in the bar, watch some football, and relax to the gentle roar of the ocean. There aren't too many places in the world where you can do this!

Great restaurant with spectacular views of the ocean. They have an extensive breakfast menu, I recommend the veggie benedict as a healthier option. Also they have a lobster dinner feast every Wed. evening which does sell out so come early. Finally there is a luau show every night which can be seen from the dining area free of charge. Better than the $100 a head they charge for admission on the beach.

we were there on a wednesday night and enjoyed happy hour the lobster special. it was a pretty basic dinner. had to order some sides to go with the meal. kids had burgers, they were not spectacular but they were good. we stayed to watch the Luau in front of the restaurant (for free).

Betty's Beach Cafe is a great place to start your Maui vacation for your first breakfast on the islands - that's what we did! The view from the restaurant is amazing. The food was solid - I ordered a fruit plate, my man had eggs benedict and we split each. The coffee wasn't bad either. Also, at night you can eat here and watch a luau for free.

We came here to enjoy a dinner after a long day of driving to and from Hana. Don't do it! First of all The waitress were sweet. But the lobsters came cold and the Cesar salad was no better than throwing some lettuce on a plate and adding Cesar salad dressing and topping it off with croutons from a box. The lobster was very tough. The bathroom was dirty and I just didn't feel the love from the food at all!

This place has a cute little charm about it. Came here for two meals, breakfast and late night. Breakfast: Spinach omelette: yum yum yum, not dry, and good flavor Late night: ceviche, not too shabby, good citrus flavors I walked by the Luau one night, but it's a small place, not sure how the Luau is. I would go back.

Betty's is a bit secluded, further south on Front St. in a part of Lahaina that not as many people visit. If you happen to make it to this tiny shopping area of restaurants such as iO, and Pacifico, as well as many surf/scuba shops, you'll find Betty's. It's more of a bar than a cafe, but disregarding that, Betty's has a nice view of the beach and ocean overlooking Lanai. The decor is simple, poster frames plastered on the walls, and several LCD TV's throughout the restaurant showing mostly sporting events. Because of our large party of 13, we were seated by the cutesy Tiki Bar, which gave us a bit of seclusion from the rest of the diners For my entree, I ordered Betty's Fish and Chips ($15.95), lightly seasoned and breaded mahi mahi, fried crispy golden. Also served with a side of french fries and Betty's fresh slaw. The mahi mahi had a decent breading, similar to what you might expect on fried chicken. It was nice and crispy with a moist inside. The fries were standard, crispy on the outside, semi-moist on the inside with a noticeable seasoning of salt. The slaw was fresh and not too thick, complimented with a small slice of pineapple. I also split the Betty's Most Tasty Nachos (10.95) with Kalua Pork (additional $5.95, or grilled chicken can also be added for $5.95). It was freshly made with crispy tortilla chips topped with pinto chili beans, melted cheese, green onions, diced tomatoes, chilies, black olives, and jalapenos. Served on the side were a small of container of salsa and sour cream. These nachos were delicious!! The chips were not too soggy, signifying they didn't just leave it sitting around with all the toppings placed on top. The kalua pork was tender adding some flavor to an already good nacho dish. I would have easily gotten this over my Fish and Chips. Table service was the norm, our waitress was friendly and attentive to our needs. Portions were decent, but I found prices to be a little high. Betty's offers a satisfying meal that won't leave many disappointed. It's a nice place to visit and to get away from the crowds. I would definitely come back for its relaxing ambiance, but if you're in for some jaw-dropping food, I'd visit elsewhere.

I love this place! I don't usually write reviews but I have been to Betty's so many times now I feel I should let everyone know about it. Casual dinning, prices are great for a beach front restaurant. The views are amazing! Whale watch while you dine. Then at sunset you can see the luau that is on the beach out front. Best happy hour ever! $2.00 ritas $3.00 mai tais. and great ceviche. Breakfast is fantastic! I love the ahi benedict. The hollandaise was the best I've had yet. The staff is very friendly, and I have always had excellent service. Aloha, Enjoy!

Great location. Nice ocean view. Good food. Better than average cafe coffee. I had 'The Islander' breakfast which is grilled mahi mahi topped with pineapple salsa and mango aioli, served with 3 all natural, Maui fresh eggs. The mahi mahi was prepared very well. Excellent flavor, cooked just right. The pricing is very reasonable. Would definitely come back. Recommended!

Ah the Hawaiian life... Betty's is in Tourist Central, right on Front Street in Lahaina... but it has more of a local feel than that of a tourist trap. I enjoyed my breakfast, I had a basic bacon and eggs breakfast and we all shared a side of the banana nut pancakes. Some of the people around us were enjoying mimosas, I just did coffee. The restaurant was smart, there are a lot of tables facing the beautiful ocean with a great view of Lanai, the next row of tables are tall 4-tops so they have just as great an unobstructed view, then the restaurant steps up to a higher level for the people sitting behind those tables. So it is great views for everyone! Considering the location and the great views, the prices are reasonable. Expect to spend about $10 a plate for most breakfasts. As much as $17 for the Mahi Mahi Eggs Benedict. Service was slow and it took us about 30 minutes to get our breakfasts but when you are in Hawaii you shouldn't be in rush anyway. I might have been tempted to give them that fifth star if they had been a little quicker.

Been to maui many times and I just tried list place last summer, the view is to die for and the restaurant was fairly empty on a sunday morning, the food was good but nothing too special. Would go back for the view and drinks, that is probably it.

Amazing view, very nice staff, and the chicken teriyaki sandwich with grilled pineapple was a delicious way to start the Hawaiin vacation

Betty's has great! Food was good and you can't beat the view. Had breakfast. It was good nothing spectacular (eggs benny- eggs over cooked). Green chile tortilla scramble was good but I should have requested fruit in leu of potatoes as it was a lot of carbs with toast as well. Happy hour looks like the time to come $3 mai tais.

This is definitely not a cafe. I would call it bettys on the beach!!!!!! What a find! this place is a hidden gem. The food is awesome. I had the mango citrus fish and my husband had a burger. I can't understand why they aren't packed. The view is to die for on the beach and a free luau to boot.. I think the name might have something to do with it.

LOVE LOVE LOVE Betty's! Just got back from Maui (literally, plane got in at 4am) and we ate more meals there than any other restaurant in Lahaina. We were able to eat late bfasts and get in for dinner when every other restaurant was claiming 40 minute waiting times. God knows how much weight I put on with the Loko Moko which was perfect...the ceviche was bland and fish and chips a bit meh, but OMG-the Island Fever Mahi was to die for, with the mango salsa and the fresh slaw...the only slaw I've loved. As others have mentioned, the opportunity to bogart the luau without actually having to pay the price, eat the food and sit through the whole thing is a MAJOR plus during the evening. Big screens showing sports with no sound is nice too. We saw bit of the World Cup final and a Tour De France stage. I almost don't want this place to get TOO well known because of the risk of not getting in everytime next time I'm on Maui...but it probably won't be for a few years, until I pay off the bill AND get off the blubber I put on---the Mud Pie nearly killed me, but so worth it.

Great food, great atmosphere, beautiful view. Prices are comparable to other Maui eateries. $2 margarita specials during happy hour. Will definitely be back!

Betty's was a fun time! Great view of the water and delicious guava mimosas!! We ordered the ceviche, it was not the best. However the fish tacos and hot wings made up for it. Our server was very attentive and made sure to check on us often! The prices are pretty decent too. If your looking for a quick lunch spot on the water I recommend Betty's!

Good breakfast without the wait with great views of the ocean. The pancakes, loco moco and lobster omelette were good. Easy street parking.

  • Shane M.

Good food, best prices on the island, great view, and nice people! Their chili cheese fries appetizer is great as is $17 lobster night where you get the entire lobster! $2 margaritas during Happy Hour uses well tequila but it's plenty good enough - it's not as bad as most well tequilas. Also, if you time it right and get a good seat, you can even catch part of a luau while you eat. Finally, if you stay next door at the Lahaina Shores Resort, there's a fairly hidden entrance/exit just for guests there.

Great View, Great Food, Great Service!! Had the loco moco...super duper yum!! Another plus, had a table by the open window space and got to see a luau for free :) View was amazing!!

2nd time I have been here. Tried this place out last vacation and decided to try again this year with the hopes it got better. Nope, drinks are terrible and so is service. Took longer to make a single drink than it took to deliver our nachos. If it took 20 minutes to make my terrible drink I don't want to know what was in the nachos.

Not sure why people didn't like this place. We went for lunch. My blackened fish tacos were awesome. Happy hour pricing was good and the lady serving us was super nice and always had a smile on her face.

We had breakfast here twice while on vacation. We stayed right next door at Lahaina Shores so it was a no brainer to eat here for convenience. The morning view was spectacular. Panoramic ocean view with open air seating. Our food was good. There was nothing special about it but it was fine. Prices were reasonable. Our service was good both days we ate there. I would definitely eat here again.

I hate to say it, but I think Betty's has fallen on tough times. We ate here several times on our last trip to Maui, a year ago, and thoroughly enjoyed the food and ambiance. This time was different, though. For one thing, the plaza that it's located in is undergoing exterior renovations. Not the most welcoming entrance. Last time we were here, there was a hostess to greet you. Apparently that was the first cost to cut. There were only a few tables occupied, even at peak lunch hour. By the time we finished our meals, we were the only ones left (about 1:15pm). The whole place seemed kinda...dead. I mean, the decor is so hawaiian and fun, but they were playing dance music, and...I don't know, the whole place just had an "empty" vibe. The server was friendly, but very slow. Especially given how empty the place was, and what we ordered (salads). It really shouldn't take over 35 minutes to prepare three caesar salads. Speaking of the salads, they were warm, which kinda turned me off. The lettuce seemed kinda limp, and the dressing tasted like any caesar dressing you could find in Safeway. Not very impressed. Hell, I could have made a much better salad myself. For three caesar salads and two mimosa's, the bill was close to $70. That seems pretty steep for a light lunch. As much as I enjoyed my meals here in the past, I don't think I'll be back. There are so many better choices in the Lahaina area, I see no pressing reason to rush back to Betty's.

Found this place on Yelp and were so happy we did! It's a little off the main touristy part of Front Street in Lahaina, but not too far that it was out of the way. The view was FABULOUS and it wasn't too busy at lunch while we were there. Prices were reasonable and the food was good. The food wasn't anything memorable. Not great, not bad. I had grilled mahi mahi plate that was cooked well but a little bland. My wife had mahi mahi fish and chips that were just ok. My sister had a decent vegetarian sandwich. If you want a relaxing place to eat that isn't super crowded but with a FABULOUS view, then definitely try out Betty's.

Just finished a great breakfast here. The place has a much more quaint feeling than some other breakfast spots. Combine an excellent view, great food and a really friendly staff and this is tops on my list for Lahaina breakfast. Great lunch menu as well.

We're staying at the Lahaina Shores and ventured out for our first breakfast of our vacation to find Betty's a short 10 second walk from our condo. We were the first guests for the day and greeted with a warm aloha and given the pick of wherever we wanted for our seating. The view is fantastic but, that's pretty standard for an Oceanside dining experience in Maui. Betty's has a $3 mimosa drink special to start the day and we certainly took advantage of that. These are not weak, by the way. It was a glass of champagne with a splash of orange juice. The breakfast menu was diverse with some definitely creative choices, as well as standard favorites. I got the pancakes and bacon while my wife got poached eggs with lobster. The pancakes weren't the greatest I've ever had but they were respectable. They're large and fluffy but just have your standard pancake taste. The side order of bacon was a generous serving of 5 slices of your standard bacon. Again, not something unique as far as taste goes but, respectable. My wife loved her poached eggs with lobster, and of course, mimosas. Her breakfast came with a side order of home fries. I sampled some and found these to be like everything else I had, good but, not remarkable. Overall, I was very happy with our Betty's experience. The service staff was very friendly and attentive. The food isn't out of this world but, it's definitely good and will not disappoint. Pricing is moderate as well. We will venture out further for other breakfast experiences but, we'll be sure to come back to Betty's as it's the most convenient and it does provide a good breakfast.

Great breakfast! And awesome $2 mimosas! View was great! You can come back for dinner and watch the Luau for free

Location was 5 Stars...especially for the fact that we were able to see most of the acts for the Feast at Lele, which we have already seen and could care less about spending the money to see it again but the Free version from Betty's worked out just fine! We seated ourselves, as it was not all that busy. The waitress we had was very sweet, seemed to be all alone and we weren't in a hurry so it was all good. I had ordered the fish taco's and my husband and my friend ordered the Chicken Teriyaki...they were not amazing, somewhat analogous to Chilis style dining standards. We also got Nacho's with Kalua pork, they were good. Everything was great, the waitress, the atmosphere, the free show ;) but the food could use some works...still a fan. :)

You can't beat the view for breakfast and the pancakes are pretty good too! This was my third time at Betty's. We had gone for pancakes twice in April 2011 and this visit in June 2012 was not as good as I had remembered from before. The best part of the meal at Betty's is the amazing view of Lanai. If you can get a table by the window, I highly recommend it. Not only will you get the view, but a nice breeze as well. All three times here I have ordered the Banana Mac Nut Pancakes. They were good and three pancakes is too many. We found out later that we could order 1-2 or 3 pancakes. My complaint about the pancakes is that I thought it could use more banana. I had a hard time finding any slices. The pancakes were light and fluffy but a little dry, which meant either adding lots of butter (as we did) or syrup. The service was lacking. While the waitress took our order right away, it took a long time to get our food. It was not very busy when we arrived or ordered. However, we received our orders of pancakes after the couple at the table next to us received their omelets. And they ordered a good 10 minutes after we did. I am not sure what required our pancakes to take so long! Overall it is still one of the better breakfasts I have had on Maui, but there is some room for improvement. Perhaps a 4 star is too generous, but a three would be too low. Once again, I am desperately in need of 1/2 stars!

  • Erik F.

Great ambiance. Good drinks. Fair staff. Poor food. Unless you order a burger stay away from the food. Enjoy the cocktails and the view. Pretty disappointing, we visit their place in Santa Cruz but I wouldn't recommend the food here. The happy hour is pretty good but the staff is a little slow. Maybe they enjoy the luau a little too much.

    (4)
  • Ruggy J.

Their mai tais aren't much to write home about, but if you want to save over $115 on a ticket to a luau, look no further than Betty's. Call it a loophole, but when The Feast at Lele is set to begin, you can grab a seat at the back of Betty's right on the edge of the patio and enjoy the show for free. It's not the best view of the action, but if you don't mind a slightly obstructed view looking at the show through a shrub, you can see the whole shebang without having to shell out a Benjamin. This is the poor man's luau!

    (3)
  • Ali A.

The only reason anyone would come here is for the view of the free Luau show. The food is not worth a penny! The service was horrible and we had to wait 45 minutes for a salad!!!

    (1)
  • Justin P.

Food: 2.5 stars (definitely $$, typical bar food selection and quality, no draught beer) Ambiance: 2.5 stars - its an open-air bar with a kitchen View: 6 stars - pay for food at Betty's, watch the sun set over Lanai and the luau next door! Make sure to come at night so you can watch the luau. Totally makes the trip to Betty's worth it.

  • Robin R.

We went for a drink and dinner. The margarita was murky, week and like a flavored yellowy green water. The waitress did take it back but it came back the same and she said they were out of mix. The dinner was pretty rough. I hope they get it together because they have a great view and an great view of the luau. I think they need help from one of those "restaurant rescue shows".

    (2)
  • Frank S.

What a horrible experience. From the ridiculously rude waitress with her chest spilling out of her dress to the fact that we actually walked out because our food never came, it was basically the worst restaurant experience I've ever had. The worst part is how rude she was to us but then would turn around to a table full of her friends that was right next to us and be so nice and laugh with them. It was incredible. The only way places like this change is if people stop going. Don't give this place your business.

I'm not really a big fan of fish but I figured since I was in Hawaii is should partake as much as possible. Betty's was our first meal after arriving and I decided on the Mahi Mahi eggs benediction. They're basically just normal eggs benedict with the ham swapped for mahi mahi. The fish was perfectly cooked and the texture and flavor complemented the rest of the dish very well. My wife had some pancakes that were also good. The best thing is the view. You're on a patio right up against the ocean with a great view of Lanai. We were there for breakfast but I'm sure dinner at sunset would be stunning

  • Gary R.

Great view in a quiet spot. Food was very poor. My salad was on the menu as a selection of Maui greens. It was clearly something out of a bag well past its sell by. The dressing was soy sauce. Wife's fish was small piece engulfed in wonder bread bun. Thumping music in the background. Super expensive, even for Maui. The ice tea was good. Go there and enjoy the view with a drink. Dine elsewhere.

$10 bottomless mimosas on Sunday w purchase of brunch. Great for watching sports. Hostess is incompitant and can't add. We ended up here because Gazebo line was so long, they didn't even take your name until you came within a Humback's whale's length. We were a party of 8 with kids, so we knew our last minute options were low. We ordred the Cowboy (ask for hot sauce cuz it needs some kick), which was so huge it could honestly be split between 3 people, french toast, pancakes, corned beef hash (tasted like outta a can). There are TV screens at every angle so I would say this is great place to watch the game, but the food & service sucks. However, the view is amazing and you are able to find parking since you are not it the busiest part of Lahaina Town. I would only recommend this place for large groups that care more about boozing up and less about food. The guy with the hat who looked like the manager on duty was nice & checked on our table, but he needs to fire that hostess who is dumb as wood. As many of the yelpers say, I agree, bad food and bad service.

Visited Betty's Beach Cafe three times this week. Overall, the food is good but not great. It's a typical diner menu. I would compare them to a Denny's back home from a taste and quality standpoint. The view is amazing if you sit in the bar and if asked for coffee, I would reccomend you pass. It's water with a little coffee flavoring... Pro: Views of the beach, clean. Cons: Expensive, service is mediocre and the coffee is 1 star. When I complained about the coffee, I was very nice and mentioned it was very thin and didn't even taste like coffee, the waitress just said -- yeah I know, it's diner coffee.

  • Chris O.

OK----here is the "local" low down on Betty's. The view is five star all the way---and you can see the Luau show depending on the night you go. So those are the two great things about Betty's. We hear their breakfast is good---but we have not been there to write about that. Now for the not so good. Mahi wifey got was way over-cooked. Service was poor / slow and the place did not feel clean (hard to describe---like the table felt tacky, etc.). All in all, it is worth a trip for the view---but don't expect great food or service. Cheers.....................

Solid 4 star place for breakfast, wife and I both enjoyed our Omelets. Try the Messy Betty as it was spectacular. Service was great and there was no wait at 10am. Food can take a bit sometimes but enjoy the view.

  • Andrea W.

Great view, good service, mediocre food. Banana nut pancakes with coconut syrup are decent but not nearly as good or fluffy as Gazebo Restaurant. Sausage scramble was lackluster. This place is hidden in the shopping center on front street, at the back of the complex near Goofy Foot Surf School.

  • Svitlana S.

Yuck! The worst Fish tacos I've had in my entire life...the fish and chips looked like chicken strips...yeah, gross! You'd think the fish would be good since this is the islands. The only thing that made this bearable is the luau that was happening next door and we got a free show...Well, I would of rather paid $120 more and had quality food and drinks...oh...and dont ever order the Mahi ceviche. it was gross.

Food: 3 stars Luau Show: 4 stars Make a reservation for 6pm and watch the Feast at LeLe show for free. All seats in restaurant has a view of the show. Food was only ok but it's better than paying $100+ per person for a luau show. Good for kids.

We came in here for some brunch while taking in the world cup game last weekend. Our service was excellent and they didn't really hassle us too much knowing that we were going to be there for awhile. We got a sausage scramble and it was excellent! The brunch along with the rest of the menu and reasonably priced given the location on the beach in Lahaina. They have a great happy hour here with cheap drinks which we sadly didnt get to partake in. Also a quick tip if you go here for dinner you can watch the feast of Lele without paying the ridiculous price for it like we did, doh ;p

We stopped in at Betty's on an incredibly hot and humid day and really enjoyed the service, casual menu and cold drinks (although you seriously need a much better wine selection). They have some wonderful special's including Lobster Night on Wednesday and a great looking weekend brunch. A cute little place!

The food was good, we got the Benny and an omelette. The staff was super friendly and helpful. The view was awesome, it over looks the beach and you could see the people who is trying to learn how to surf.

Yes we got the $15 lobster on a Wednesday. Yes, we got to watch the luau show just outside the windows. Beautiful view. All in all a fun evening. We got there early for happy hour (4pm) and to beat the dinner crowd and get a good seat and that's how you do it.

  • Raquel B.

Came here for the free view of the Luau - which was perfect!!! The drinks were good and service was GREAT. Food not so good, which is why the rating is only 3 stars. We had the nachos w/ pork - they were OK. The mac and cheese with pork was OK and the Mahi Mahi was dry but still just OK. Given that, we would come here again for the drinks and free luau. Plus, the crowd was great too. We'll just stick to inexpensive appitizers.

The very best banana nut pancakes I've ever had! Plus a gorgeous view and wonderful service. :-) This comment was written in 2011 after two visits to Betty's. I have now eaten here three times and will continue to eat at Betty's Beach Cafe every time I visit Maui. The view of Lanai is simply amazing! Any seat offers this view, but if you can sit by the window, it is unobstructed and even better. Be prepared for a leisurely meal as there seems to be no rush in delivering your food. On this third visit we waited a very long time to get our pancakes. All we ordered were the banana nut pancakes with nothing special, but others got their meals before we did and had ordered after we had. The pancakes were still good when they arrived, but due to the slow service I am downgrading my recommendation from 5 stars to 4 stars. Sorry Betty! Work on the service and I will reconsider my ranking.

My goal on vacation is to avoid big chain restaurants (and anything that I can find within a 25-mile radius at home). So... no Cheeseburgers in Paradise... no Shrimp from Bubba. Betty's was one of the local tasty choices I made on this visit to Lahaina. For the first visit, we rolled in around 6:30p on a Tuesday evening. There was no wait for a table, but it was moderately full - a good sign. We seated ourselves at a table next to the windows, which meant we had a fantastic view of the luau dinner show next door. We sat down about 10 minutes before the Maori dancers started - fantastic timing! I had the Perfect Dish. Mac n' Cheese with kalua pork! What a tasty combo of two of my favorite things - why did I never think to combine these before?! I added a little extra shoyu sauce- ONO!!! My mom tried the kalua pork plate - which came smothered in a sweet pineapple BBQ sauce. She really enjoyed it, but I have to admit, I'm more of a kalua pork purist - I prefer it sauce-free. My step-dad sampled the blackened chicken plate and said it was a little dry, but really well-seasoned and had just the right amount of spicy heat for him. We had such a great experience, we came back for breakfast on my birthday. Loco moco was really tasty - a large, moist beef patty, two eggs perfectly cooked, and the requisite heaping serving of gravy! The portion size was truly generous for the price and sitting there enjoying the view of the morning happenings on the water was a great way to cap off a terrific breakfast. Mahalo nui loa. The Good Stuff: * ALL of us loved the side dish- I don't know what they're making their slaw with, but I need to wrangle that recipe out of someone there. SO tasty. * The house drinks were good, too - but a little pricy outside of happy hour (Planter's Punch was $9!) but a great combo of island flavors. I'd come back at happy hour to sample other drinks. * A free show! Show up around 6pm and plan to linger over drinks or dinner and you'll catch the show that the suckers next door shelled out big bucks for! The Not-So-Good Stuff: I can't really think of anything - maybe just the prices... but everything on the island runs high. The mac n' cheese was reasonable, but it was nearly $6 just to add the kalua pork- I can get a plate lunch for that! As delicious as it was, that seemed a little high. BUT - given the ambiance, and our friendly server (I forget her name, but she was from New Zealand), we had a really enjoyable evening and a relaxing, filling breakfast.

Betty's was a big surprise.... a big disappointing surprise. I was really excited about going here for breakfast when we were visiting Lahaina. The reviews of Betty's are all pretty solid, so I'm not quite sure what happened with our meals, but it was nothing to write home about. Our tab was around $80 for breakfast after tip. Granted, we each ordered 2 Mimosa's. My wife had a fresh fruit plate and granola for her breakfast and I ordered the Mahi Mahi with eggs and rice. The eggs came in a "side dish" so they weren't even presented over top of the Mahi. The rice was so bland.... which maybe is the way they cook and serve it in Hawaii, but it wasn't my thing. The Mahi Mahi tasted like a frozen piece of fish and it had absolutely no flavor. Besides it not having any flavor to speak of, it was tough as rubber. My wife was extremely disappointed with her Fruit platter..... she was expecting delicious fresh fruit being that we were in Hawaii. None of the fruit was ripe, and it was mainly filled with grapes and nasty tangerines. Test your luck and hope you had a better experience than we did, but I know I definitely will not be back to this tourist trap.

On our very last day of a week long trip to Maui, we discovered Betty's cafe for breakfast. We were a tiny bit skeptical at first. Pulling up to 505 Front St in Lahaina, there weren't many cars or people around, and several shops looked kind of dead. It had a small amount of that dying-shopping-area feel to it, and I started worrying that Betty's might be no longer. However... Keep strolling toward the ocean, and you'll eventually run into Betty's cafe, and my favorite breakfast joint on Maui! The atmosphere is completely chill. This is not the place to come if you're in a hurry. You seat yourself, and there are lots of tables with incredible views of the ocean just outside the cafe. The smells of bacon and eggs fill the air. I don't know if it's due to the few dead shops in that little plaza, or if it's just a little too far off the main drag in Lahaina, but there were very few people there, and before too long we had coffee and POG (passion, orange and guava juice in a mixture) juice in front of us, looking over some delicious breakfast options. I had a fairly standard bacon, eggs, and toast breakfast, while my girlfriend tried out the french toast. Both were absolutely fantastic, and the eggs and bacon were both cooked perfectly to order. We sat and soaked in the views for a little while before heading back out, just enjoying the uber relaxed setting and great weather. Overall, I absolutely loved it, and can't wait to come back!

Great place! If you go at sunset it's beautiful view and stay a little later see free hula with FIRE! Maine lobster WEDNESDAY NIGHTS $14 something but they are small but it's lobster in Maui. Good price on drinks during happy hour only but can't have happy hour drink price with cheap lobster or if want it I think you have to buy a salad for something like $5 but really good food and Great view! Not much seating either

We used Betty's for hosting our rehearsal dinner. Not only did they give us an amazing price, but they went above and beyond in service and food quality. People raved about the Kalua Pork, enjoyed the free Luau, and great service. For those looking for a fun and very reasonable location (without sacrificing food quality) for an event in Lahaina, Betty's is the place.

Betty's Beach Cafe was a great find! We came here for a late breakfast and enjoyed a great breakfast with a flawless view, it was a great way to start the day. We then came back on Saturday night and enjoyed dinner while watching the luau. Happy hour was super reasonable and the luau show was awesome! No need to pay hundreds of dollars for the luau dinner/show, just go to Betty's Beach Cafe. Not to mention, the staff was really friendly!

Not the greatest- u won't be poisoned but it's a bunch of smirky teens waiting tables , unaware of dirt on tables , and termite stuff falling from beams on to table continuously thru waiting for breakfast . I moved to another table , watched it continue to soil that table . The food was alright - I'm not going back . Many people there getting some serious drinks with their breakfast ....

This place is located right on the beach - great view of the water. Good food and service. We ordered the Mahi Benedict, banana nut pancakes, green chili and tortilla scramble, and classic breakfast. All good. Cheap eats with great views. Good service. I'd definitely come back.

BEAUTIFUL view, great service, delicious food.... AND a free view to a really cool LUAU party!!! what can beat that?!?!?! it wasnt even that expensive and the food was sooo good... i have a weak spot for WINGS ... and betty's wings... mmmmmmmmmmm SO SO GOOD... i honestly forgot what my husband and i had ordered for dinner, but i definitely remember the wings we got as an appetizer.. and we got to watch a $200 luau party for free :) and a beautiful view to the sunset off the beach... and the service was so friendly and sweet and fast... i was so happy with it all :) ............ i would have given it 4 stars.. the only reason i gave it 3 is because we were under the impression that the soda refills were free... but they charged like 2.50 for every single refill.. soooo if you DO go here.. make sure to save your soda ;) lol

Could have had one more waitress working, but not problematic enough to drop to four stars. View, staff, wait, and food were all excellent. Will come back on my next trip.

We just had a fabulous dinner at Betty's (along with the free view of Feast at Lele). We made reservations for 6:30- totally unnecessary as there was only three other groups there until almost 8:30. The waitress said it was unusually slow but it was a Monday. (the dancing for Feast at Lele startEd at 7:15).We had a perfect view of the beautiful ocean view and the stage at Feast of Lele was about 30 ft away. Our waitress was great, the prices were very reasonable for Maui and the food was pretty darn good. I had the Kailua pork which was delicious with a house made BBQ sauce. My husband had Mahdi, which he said was fine but not great. We ordered fancy non alcoholic drinks for the kids and splurged on dessert. The whole thing came to about $85. We ended up leaving before the end of the show b/c it was so slow.....glad we didn't pay the $115 a person for the actual luau. We will definitely return to Betty's on future trips!

Great happy hour drinks with a beautiful view of the ocean! We also came here for breakfast on a Sunday during their 8-2pm $2 mimosa special! I had just scrambled eggs and toast which was great, but my husband had their special: a lobster eggs benedict which he thought was fantastic!

Betty's has THE BEST HAPPY HOUR!! Awesome mai tai's for $2 and make it a double for $2 more. My husband and I found ourselves there several days out of our trip for the good drinks, food and lobster special on Wednesday nights. The restaurant is right on the beach so the VIEW is SPECTACULAR from anywhere in the restaurant. They also have a luau that performs right in front of their restaurant on the beach every evening. Every time we have gone to Betty's the service was fabulous. We will definitely revisit each time we are in Maui.

This restaurant is pretty new in Lahaina, HI. It is not fully known to all tourists and it's locals, hopefully this review will help change that. It's tucked in the back of the Shops located on Front Street, towards the beach. Great view of the ocean and a perfect spot to watch the LeLe Luau for free. You seat yourself, which is great because you can pick and choose where you would think would be a great view of the free show you are about to get. Great times to come is anytime after 6:30pm or half hour before the sun sets. The food is good for what you pay for and probably the only restaurant affordable in walking distance if you were staying at the Lahaina Shores Beach Resort and if you are looking to eat some place with a great ocean view. We ate twice at this restaurant, mainly because we didn't have our camera the first time to take pictures of the Luau performances. The second time we were more prepared. I am a fan of the Miss Mac and Cheese with blackened Mahi Mahi. For breakfast, I definitely recommend their Banana Nut Pancakes. If you decide to order the pancakes, you must know they are huge. So sharing is an option if you like. Perfect for two! I knocked off 1 star just because our service was so-so the first day. Our waitress forgot to bring my husbands refill on coke, but we think she was a newbie and we thought she was adorable so we didn't mind so much. She kind of reminded us of a character from the movie Blue Crush. This place is definitely a 'must' to visit, you won't regret! You will end up getting more than what you paid for.

I have to say I had one of the Best Breakfasts I have ever eaten here at Betty's. They serve breakfast until noon and I arrived at 11:50am. I had the mushroom and spinach scramble. Fantastic! The best scramble I have ever had. Great service, friendly and clean. All tables do have a view of the ocean. Prices are reasonable for Lahaina.

This is the worst restaurant experience I've ever had. From the moment I walked in with my 2 kids and asked for high chairs I received attitude. Our waitress was the rudest ever (long blonde hair). It's safe to say that this experience RUINED my last night in Maui. Our waitress rolled her eyes constantly at us, was visibly annoyed when we didn't order fast enough, asked me to move my chair several times so she could pass through, and huffed and puffed when I asked for anything. I had asked her for crayons for my 2.5 year old son 3 times. When I asked her the 4th time she said "well I had to put your order in" and then slammed the crayons down on the table. She purposely didn't put our order in. After 50 mins, we all got up and I told her we were leaving because the food had taken too long. She said "it's only been 10 minutes but do what you want." The nice bartender offered to give us our food to go (whenever it came out) for free but we were scared that our waitress would spit in it. After being treated horribly for no reason, and never receiving our food, our last night in Maui with 2 very small kids was ruined. I will never come back to this restaurant and will warn others to stay away!!

We went here to eat dinner and watch the Feast at Lele. The view of the luau is spectacular, almost as good as the folks at the back tables. I do have to say that the luau seemed very slow and almost boring to me, that is until the fire dance at the end, that was incredible. Anyways, I thought the food at Bettys was nothing to write home about. No complaints about the service. But I have has better burgers elsewhere on the island. My wife really liked her mahi mahi tacos, she said they tasted really fresh. I just thought a nearly $40 bill for the two of us was a little too expensive for what we got. Unfortunately, I felt it was an entirely forgetable meal.

My wife and I were getting bummed about the whacky prices typical in this town ($45 for a steak, $15 for a salad). This place had great prices and excellent food. Great views, right on the beach. Everyone was very friendly and the service was first rate.

I was disappointed. My boyfriend and I came here for breakfast and it was ehh. When we got there there was one family eating brunch and one couple at the bar, thats it. We decided to stay anyway because we were starving. I ordered a bacon and spinach omelette which was pretty good but nothing spectacular. My boyfriend ordered a loco moco ate the whole thing but complained that the patty was too dry and lacked flavor. We also got one order of french toast to share. I was so excited to eat french toast because I had been craving it, but dude what a let down. It was waaay too dry I left most of it on the plate. The best thing about this place was definitely the view, but even with that I wouldn't come back. Sadly, this place was nothing special for me.

Went looking for Hecocks and found Bettys instead( name/owner change?). Awesome place. Great view. Nice service. Eggs, bacon, potatoes and toast was 8 bucks. Not bad considering your on an island. My mimosa was $7 but was only colored with OJ so not to bad. Great view. I definetly seek the bargins and this place fit me perfect.

Betty's is a very low-key, great find in Lahaina. We went to 9:00 happy hour last night and had $3 Mai tais and got to catch the fire dancer perform for the Feast of Lele crowd. We went there twice in 3 days and loved the place.

My boyfriend and I loved this place! Very convenient location, especially if you're staying at the Lahaina Shores Beach Resort, but also close to downtown Lahaina. Pluses: Every table overlooks the beach, and if you go between 6:00 - 9:30 PM, you'll get a free view of the entertainment for the very expensive "Feast at Lele" luau; great variety of food, often cheaper than mainland prices, excellent Happy Hour; cute and friendly staff! We went 4 times in the week we were there, for breakfast, dinner and drinks. My favorite foods were the chicken nacho salad for dinner, and "Betty's Mess" for breakfast. Wonderful $3 Mai Tai's at Happy Hour. We highly recommend this hidden gem!

the food was OVERDONE to say the least - pretty much crispy flavorless sludge. however, like heckock's before them, the view of the sunset and feast at lele is unparallelled. i would go just for pupu's and drinks. get there at 6:45 for the sunset and show.

This is a great place in Lahaina! Brooke and Eddie are AWESOME bartenders!!! The food is above average. The pork nachos are delish as well as the mushroom burger! The service on Sunday brunch was a tad slow, but the bottlemess champagne is worth the wait! The view is amazing...you can't beat the Ocean while dining and at night you can catch the Luau next door! Great place!!!

After several days of overpriced resort food we found Betty's and stopped in for an early dinner just after 5pm. Found a nice Mahi entree for me and Nachos for my #1. Our server Kayla was friendly and knowledgeable and made sure our beer was served in cold glasses. A great beach bar with good food, cold beer, a fantastic view and great service. We will be back! Mahalo Kayla!!

Ordered crispy bacon. Waitress mistook order of crispy sausage. She insisted that she was correct that I ordered something I don't normally eat. She changed the order after all with smirk in her face. Why should a customer lie? 2 star for that. After the meal: I changed my opinion about the service.. The waitress made up from her brief moment of unprofessional attitude by giving us good service. Delivered the bacon with a smile. The smile lasted throughout the time we were in the restaurant. I now ammend the rating to 4 stars.

We went to Betty's on Saturday night-they graciously accommodated our party of 8. Great service, no rushing, fair prices (actually, very reasonable for Maui) and good food. I had the French dip-which was fabulous!! Soo yummy! And the nachos were a nice starter too! The ceviche was also good. Dh had the lobster and enjoyed it too. Beautiful sunset and also got to watch part of the feast of Lele luau!! Starts around 7:00. Go Wednesday for lobster ($16.95!!!) or Friday for prime rib ($19.95!) . Mahalo Betty's for a great night!!

  • Don S.

We absolutely loved Betty's!! Went on a Wednesday night, had a great lobster tail for $16.95 each, watched the entire Feast of Lele luau from our window seats , had multiple delicious cocktails and other food items and spent under $90 for the whole evening! Perfect!!! Wait staff was amazing(oh and beautiful to boot)! Absolute must visit in Lahaina! A+++++

After coming to Maui for many years and reading about Betty's, we finally stopped in on a Wednesday night. We were not disappointed! The hostess estimated the wait to be as long as 40 minutes and offered to call our mobile number if we wanted to take a walk. However, we were seated within 10 minutes at a table right by the open window overlooking the beach where the Feast of LeLe Lu'au was in full swing! My 3-yr-old daughter was instantly enthralled. Wednesday nights are lobster nights - $16.99 for a fresh steamed 1 lb Maine lobster with rice, lemon, and butter. Also had the spicy chicken wings, hamburger w grilled Maui onions, and Keiki chicken and fries. Everything was delicious, and a STEAL when compared to the $125 pp paid by the folks at the Lu'au less than 10 ft away! The service was friendly and well-paced, allowing us to enjoy our meal and the show. Definitely a local gem we will be visiting in the future!

Very cool place right on the beach, close to the busy downtown Lahaina. One of the best Happy hour of the city 2-5pm and 9-11pm ($2 for the margarita) !

  • Tanaya B.

If you are in Maui, you have to come here! Amazing prices and even better food! It doesn't matter if you go for breakfast, lunch, or dinner, you won't regret it. Plus their view is great! You can even watch a luau for free from the neighboring restaurant if you go on the right night. ;) We stayed a week in Maui and we went to Betty's at least 5 times during our stay possibly more simply because you couldn't beat the price especially for the quality of food. The chorizo breakfast burrito is huge and delicious and their tacos are equally delicious and feeling! Their drinks are also good and a great deal especially during happy hour.

OMG! Just revisited my review of Betty's in Lahaina and looked at my picture of the menu. Did not realize they were related to Zelda's in Capitola! Wow. I love Zelda's and it's been there for decades. No wonder I love Betty's so much.

This is the cutest Oceanside restraunt ! They have delicious banana and macadamia nut pancakes! We liked this place so much we went back for dinner and drinks! Delicious fish tacos and Kalua pork nachos ! Great service and you can also see a luau right from your table

  • Karen W.

You can reserve a table right here at Betty's and ask them to seat you so you can see the Feast of Lele and you can have a view of the show which starts about 7-7:15 pm. We started off with the chips and salsa, along with White Wine cooler and Lava Flow both delish. Then shared a side salad and main courses included the Kalua pork sandwich and grilled ono fish taco. Both tasty. The pork was alittle dry but tasty. We ended the meal with Betty's famous mango mud pie that can feed 3-4 people! All were tasty and satisfying and topping it off with the Polynesian show without having to sit through the Polynesian dinner which was from start to finish 3 hours long. If you just want a sampling of the show, you may not want to stay for 3 hours eating at Betty's because the breaks between the show at the Feast of Lele lasted between 30-45 minutes so they could serve food from different islands. Not very exciting in between the meals as they had no entertainment.

Great ocean view, great happy hour. $2 margaritas, $5 mojitos. Went with a wedding party and they reserved the entire bar for us. Very friendly staff. Ate chips and salsa which were good and all the other food that I saw looked good too. In Hawaii though where prices are high, you really can't beat that $2 margs.

  • Vic M.

A year later and nothing has changed. Still a great place to watch hula dancing for free at around 6pm. Food 3 1/2 rating. Service 4 1/2. Their prices for Hawaii are average and fair. Good service and nice selection of food.

Not impressed with Betty's at all! Walked in for a 6:30 reservation and no one else was in the restaurant....bad sign!! All of the food we ordered was sub-par. Do not have any beer on tap. Overall not a good experience. Highlight was watching part of the luau at the neighboring property. With all of the great options in Lahaina I would not recommend this place.

  • Adam C.

This place is absolute bullocks. We heard about the lobster special and decided to make this place our last dinner before leaving the next day, what an absolute mistake it was. Our waitress just seemed lost to begin with. She got the table next to us order wrong and didn't refill our drinks throughout the entire meal. Yet when it came time for the bill she kept trying to push dessert on us while completely forgetting to refill our drinks in the frist place. And it wasn't even that busy for a Friday night and they had multiple waitresses!!!! The lobster was decent at best, nothing special sadly and the fact that we had poor service only added to the mediocrity of the entire experience. Plus they used cheap rice that would be served to school children. We didn't feel bad not leaving a tip. This place can kick rocks.

  • Amber S.

Messy Betty ($13) is where it is at! Eggs, potatoes, veggies and cheese all scrambled together topped with salsa. It kept me full through the afternoon. Place is casual with trendy Hawaiian decor, full bar and tables with a beautiful beach view. Service was okay by our waitress. She was friendly and made sure we had what we needed. Only gripe is that coffee grinds were constantly being found in all of our mugs. Since the mugs are clear it was easy to notice before taking a gulp of it. The waitress apologized, switched carafes a couple of time but grinds kept making it in the mugs. I guess the coffee machine was on strike that morning.

We came for breakfast on a Monday @ 10:30. It was pretty slow so we were able to get a seat with an awesome ocean view! We ordered: Eggs Benedict - 4 stars - good solid dish. Huevos Rancheros - 3 stars - needs different beans that are more flavorful and more spice in the salsa. Mango smoothie - 3 stars - it is made with mango purée, pineapple juice and orange juice. It was a bit sweet for my taste. Service - 4 stars - very friendly and attentive. View - 4 stars - this place has a amazing view from most of the tables! Parking is a bit hard. Restraint is located at the back of a medium sized walk through outdoor plaza. I am giving this place three stars but we would definitely come back! With the amazing view and right food this place could definitely go up to four stars!!!!! Note - We heard that you can make a reservation and request a seat were you can view the Feast at Lele that starts at 7-7:15. Which is usually $125 for food and show if you do through Feast at Lele so this is a way to get to see the show for a more reasonable meal price! Happy hour here is also very reasonable and they have a $17 lobster Wednesday's when the get in fresh Lobster from Kona!

The best things about this place: great friendly service, ocean view (got to see the luau happening next door while dining), and fun ambience. I would hang out here, totally my kinda vibe. Fun, relaxed, all I could ask for. We went for the luau viewing and the Wednesday night lobster special. Can't lose there. Lobster was good, not great. Wish they'd crack the shells a little more for us because it as quite a venture to eat the whole thing. Solid place to grab a meal and hang out.

A great place in front of the beach with an happy hour starts at 2pm until 5pm AND from 9pm to 11pm. We ordered steamed Lobster and it was so gooood ( it is the special of wednesday) and the cheese burger. People are so nice and food very good. Not a lot of tourists then the place to be:)

Visit: July 2015 It was a bar setting. It was pleasant. The staff was very nice. You can view the Feast of Lele luau as you dine. I had the Mamacita's fish tacos (grilled mahimahi) and they were a generous size and very tasteful. For dessert, I ordered the one with the apples kinda like an apple pie ( I couldn't find the item on the online menu to name). It was delicious with ice cream. I would return my next time visiting Maui.

Bar food. That's it. Good side: One of the better priced places in town. Down side: Just straight up bar food. My wife had the fish n chips. over cooked. super crispy. 50% breading. i had at the lobster quesadilla. The ingredients are diced. Like you get out of a can. Enough lobster to fill a table spoon at best. Bar food. WIll most likely not go back.

There are far more expensive places to eat on the island. There are better places to eat on the island. There are cheaper places to eat on the island but we won't go there. LOL.... Honestly, this place continues to provide good eats at a more than fair price. Sure the service can be somewhat slow but the people watching and the OUTSTANDING venue more than makes up for it. We had a quick stop at Betty's for lunch. My husband had the ceviche. He doesn't eat onions. Go figure! I had a pineapple aloha burger with fries. I don't eat beef much but this hit the spot! Yummy fresh pineapple slice and a humongous beef burger. Not a frozen patty either. Fresh! The views while eating are spectacular. You can stay here and watch the sun set. It looks like they're setting up for a luau tonight.

Sad Sad Sad Went to Bettys for lunch, Waitress suggested a Lobster melt 17.99 sounds ok add iced tea 3:50 now you are in my pocket over 20 bucks and you bring two slices of toast with cheese and onions I have say there was some lobster, but to be honest I picked more lobster out of my teeth snacking on a real lobster at Sizzler. BAD,BAD,BAD, Betty's

Great view, strong drink, nice spot to see the feast at Lei Lei, but to food is nothing special. I absolutely will come back here to watch any sports or for day drinking - just pass on the food.

HORRIBLE. What a circus. Let me count the ways of how they messed up our meal. Of the 7 dinners ordered 2 were correct. They were out of many things and just confused everything else. We were then overcharged. We did get a sneak peek at the Luau next door, but that was not enough to make up for the frustration and mess of a meal. Overall the food was decent, the ambience fine, but the service was pretty awful.

The location is great! On that note....you'd think they would make the food decent too. We went for dinner & it was pretty bad. Decided to go to happy hour and give it another shot- definitely not better! Avoid the margaritas and burgers at all costs. Also, most food doesn't taste seasoned.

The food was very poor quality. The overcooked burger I sent back, I never do, but it was dry and seemed cooked from a frozen state. I had the nachos with pork instead and it was ok. Nothing to go back for. The view of the Le Le luau was the only reason it got 2 stars. The food is expensive even for Maui and the quality is horrendous.

Great breakfast + $2 mimosas on the weekends until 2pm. Also love their $16.95 lobster night every Wed. night. Always have received great service, & typically sit at a high top in the bar. Awesome view! Highly recommend.

Aside from the view, I wasn't too impressed. On a day that we weren't diving, we were told to go to Betty's for a great breakfast. Getting there was easy. We arrived pretty early, like 8-830a. We were seated immediately, which was great, especially being that there were only 5 other people in the restaurant. Then from there it went down hill. Our waitress seemed very unmotivated. It took her some time to get our drink orders. Then it took even longer to take our food order. After receiving our food, I don't recall her coming by to check to see if all was OK. If the restaurant was packed, it could slightly understand but it wasn't. But at least the food was decent. So, I would not return to this restaurant regardless of it's location. It is sad that I didn't get that Hawaiian feel/hospitality that people said it had.

Good enough food but they seem to struggle with service. We went on two consecutive days, on the first day one waitress was all alone but handled it fine and with pleasant smiles and conversation. The next day there were more servers but the level of service was really poor. We had a few requests such as tortillas on the side or changing the TV channel from an infomercial but it was too much work for our server to handle smoothly. Shame cos the location is very cool. P.S. Clean (or even renew) the carpeting. It's gross.

Location 5stars right on the beach. Happy hour great deals. Drinks 2 bucks more for double...... Sounds great but double is really about 1.5. Food is ok. We will return....in the same area is spankys sports bar better drinks

Service was very slow. Waited for our check for almost 1/2 an hour after we have finished desert. Ok, they were busy. Finally, after getting the bill which was almost $200 with tip, we sign and before we can rise from our chair the manager comes to tell us to get out she has a reservation waiting for our table. WHAT!! This is the first we've heard this and we were the ones waiting for them. Yes, a small problem in the scheme of things but so rude. It's not like we were camping. We had been trying to get out of the place for a 1/2 hour. And now, with their money collected, they tell us to get the hell out of there. I WILL NEVER GO BACK THERE. SURE MONEY MAKES THE WORLD GO ROUND BUT DID THEY HAVE TO BE RUDE TOO? WE SPEND $200 AND THEN 30 SECONDS AFTER FINALLY GETTING THE CHECK THEY TELL US TO GET THE HELL OUT.

They have adds all over Maui for specials like 16 dollar a plate for lobster, we got there at 8 pm and was told they are all out of lobster, we ended up with horrible sandwiches.

This place is a sure-bet winner pick...but not speedy. The view is great, the service is friendly, and the food is good. It seems the only flaw is the output of the kitchen. We were there on a slow day for lunch, so it was particularly surprising to have to wait so long for our order to come out.

I have had breakfast at Betty's Beach Cafe in Lahaina for the two previous years and the food was adequate for breakfast. However, I just had lunch there and found the food nearly inedible and the quality was abysmal. It is sad because the view is nice and the restaurant was relaxed, unfortunately more so in the kitchen. The hamburger meat wasof extremely low quality, tough, gristly and tasted spoiled. I had to send mine back and returned overdone and tough AGAIN! Inexcusable! I even had to send my diet coke back and I wonder when was the last time they cleaned and serviced the machine. The cost was $11-14 for hamburgers with a couple of tablespoons of mediocre coleslaw. You get what you pay for in life but at Betty's, you don't even get that. Avoid if possible .

Spectacular views and amazing restaurant! Ordered the Loco Moco and was not disappointed with the flavors, taste and presentation. Wonderful way to start the day off with a great plate. Service was friendly, attentive and prices were reasonable. Big Fan and will be back when I come back to Maui.

Great food, nice view of the bay overlooking lanai. Service was ok, have our food and forgot our utensils. Had to ask to refill water. BUT, food was to die for. Didn't have to wait too long and nice that they serve breakfast until 2 in the morn.

I've eaten here three or four times in the last couple times visiting Maui and they hands down have the friendliest service staff and the food is above average/good. the reason for my three stars is the PRICE. I always forget about this until I've already sat down. there is absolutely no reason to justify their prices. $25 for eggs Benedict and orange juice! $5 for orange juice!! If you request light pulp you'll get Sunni D! lol FYI Tropicana sells for $3 a half gallon at Safeway down the street. Most restaurants in hawaii have $6-9 breakfast specials and I've eaten at Wolfgang on Oahu For $11

Amazing! This was such a cool place! I called around 9:00am asking for a reservation and they said they don't take them on Saturday mornings, but it wasn't too busy so she said she would save something for us. When we got there 20 mins later, we had a nice table right by the beach saved. So awesome! Mimosas were $2, so naturally I had 3 of those. All were delicious, but I think I liked the guava best. I had Betty Jo's Scramble which was egg, mushroom, beef, spinach, onions and cheese and came with potatoes. Delicious! I really enjoyed it. Boyfriend had Betty's Pancake Party with Betty's pancakes, eggs, bacon strips and sausage links. He said the bacon was the best he's ever had. Pretty big deal in my opinion. He also found his new favorite beer: Kona Wailua Wheat. If I lived in Hawaii, I'd probably make this a go-to weekly spot. I really recommend if you're in the area to stop in. Cool place with an incredible view!

We stayed at te Lahaina Shores and ate here for convenience. We were pleasantly surprised. Went here on a Wednesday night and had the lobster special. We also sat overlooking the beach and got to watch the Feast of Lele luau for free! You can also eat and watch the beautiful Lahaina sunsets. The prices are decent and they have good specials and happy hour. The food is pretty tasty. The lobster was fresh and on Wednesday nights they have a special price.

Came here with my family while we were visiting Maui. It was recommended to us by a friend for their Wednesday night $16.99 lobster special. Three people at our table took advantage of that deal, so we had lobsters everywhere, complete with bibs. They were messy to consume since they deliver you an entire lobster, so you need to know how to take it apart and clean out the insides as you're eating. It was a nice open-air environment, which we loved. Although, if you aren't used to the heat of Hawaii, you may find some days to be a bit warm, especially as the setting sun is shining on you. As for the rest of the food, it was all OK. Nothing amazing, but definitely not bad. The prices were reasonable. We got a table right agains the half wall so we were able to enjoy much of the evening luau. This was a great perk for my 3 year old, who needed something to watch while the adults talked. They also created my daughter with a lei, which made her feel extra special. There was a lot of time between each set of performances, but it still made dinner a bit unique. We would return again if we happened to be in the area around the time that the Luau starts (around 6:30pm that night), but probably wouldn't make a special trip for it.

Went here for breakfast. You have to seat yourself, which I did. Took about 15 minutes before the waitress acknowledged me. The view and food was great. The waitress not so much. She was very rude, not friendly and didn't even smile once. Who needs bad service while you are on vacation??!! Not me!!

Everything about this place is just ok. In my opinion the menu is overpriced even by Maui standards, the service is average at best, the food was fine, and overall I did not love the vibe of this place. We came for dinner on a Wednesday. We had chips and salsa, each had a drink, I had the lobster special, he had a salad. Our bill was about $60 while we were eating the salsa about 10 minutes after we ordered the server asked us if we wanted to put our order in, uh yes please. We were not watching a game or anything that would imply we would not want our food right away. Nothing was terrible, just lackluster. I was not particularly inclined to go back, but I wanted to eat breakfast somewhere where I could watch football. So I ordered by favorite Eggs Benedict with homefries, my husband had some kind of scramble. With 2 coffees and a mimosa on special it was about $35. The bartender was more attentive than our server. Overall, I enjoyed breakfast more than dinner. If my hotel was not right next door I would not have returned.

Great place. Located right on the water and there are shows you can see from the restaurant. All the food we have eaten was very good. I got the fish and chips. Yum. In fact I'm craving it right now. I hear the pulled pork is amazing, they ran out when we were there. The first time we went there we had just got off a flight of 10 hours. It was late and we were tried but really enjoyed our experience.

Don't go unless you want slow service, rubbery tasteless eggs and a smell in the air described by the 7-year-old as "poopy diapers." So disappointing. Maybe we just had an "off" day, but not ever planning to go back as the view was not worth the downsides. Sorry, Betty, you need a restaurant makeover.

I headed to Betty's the first morning after my arrival in Maui, like usual. This little spot is open-air with great views of the beach and ocean. I arrived a little after 8am and seated myself immediately. I am sure that it was much busier earlier that morning - I was a little later than most of the mainland tourists. In the evenings, you can see the luau for free. My server got me started with coffee and water and took my order for the banana nut pancakes with coconut syrup. It was a matter of minutes before she returned with a hot plate of pancakes. I'm definitely sharing my picture because they were so pretty and yummy at the same time. :-) My only complaint is that they seemed light on the banana this time around. I may ask my server about that. Next time I come to Betty's, I'll likely get a Messy Betty. The Messy Betty is a scramble with a bunch of goodies thrown in - Ortega chiles, green onions, tomatoes, home fried potatoes, cheese and salsa. So, so yummy. I think my favorite thing about Betty's is that it's right next door to my hotel - Lahaina Shores. In the mornings, I can just get dressed, throw on sunglasses and head next door for breakfast.

What a great spot to grab lunch, honestly food is so-so but you get a great view of the beach, doesn't get too hot or too crowded. I stayed four a couple of hours while my family was taking surfing lessons next door. They have wifi , great service and an awesome view. Life is good. We had the loco moco, chicken wings and granola banana yogurt.

Kind of disappointment in Betty's! Service was ok, Mai Tai was good. Great view but the Loco Moco was terrible! The burger was so over done it was just about inedible. The gravy was very salty. The rice was good! Not impressed at all with my visit to Betty's. I only ate half of my order and asked for a to-go container. When the waitress asked how it was I told her that it was very dry as it was way over done! I asked for Med Rare and got super well done! Her answer was well would you like some more gravy for when you heat it up to make it better?

Good service, friendly staff. Great place to watch the laui. They have Wednesday night fresh lobster for 16.95. Lobster flown in from Kona. We eat several times as it was right next to the hotel, the staff was always friendly and personable. Tried breakfast and dinner there. The laui was a nice touch. They perform this each weekend at sunset. We watched it from the dining room area. You stop by the Cafe early and reserve a table any night except Lobster night. They have one of the best ocean views in Lahaina. It is covered and protected so if it is rainy or a bit breezy, stop by here.

Betty's... What happened??? I pumped you up so bad in my head, and when I came back to visit, you totally sucked. Maybe not totally, the mahi mahi benedict was still good. But the wait was excruciatingly long, the waitress seemed more into talking to the other server and her group of friends than she was at actually doing her job. We let her know we had a plane to catch, and it seemed to take even LONGER after we told her that. It would be one thing if they were busy, but there was only two other tables there at that time. By the time she got around to bringing out our meals, they were all cold. I don't know what could be more unappetizing than cold eggs. Yuck. But we bit the bullet and didn't complain, mainly because we did not have time for them to rectify the situation.

  • Tiffany S.

Breakfast review only: don't order the loco moco! It's the worst one I have ever had on the islands! We ordered it medium rare and it was WELL done! It was gross! Also ordered the eggs over easy and the yolks were hard! Their gravy is disgusting and was out of a packet nasty! For the price I would have been happier going to McDonald's getting it to go and sitting on the beach and eating it there! The view is amazing and the location is pretty nice so that's the only reason for a 2 star review! I will not go back and recommend if you do go to maybe try lunch or dinner you might have better luck! Just don't get anything with brown gravy it's so bad!

New and untrained bartender last night, let's just say I could do a better job. Drinks weren't good. Food was small portions average price but for 5 bucks more we could eat at pacifico. I'm gonna try the breakfast tho. Every place has it's niche. Went back for breakfast. The food was average. Servers seemed to hate working there which almost always indicates management issues. Plenty of other options, not a slave to convenience.

Betty's cafe has a fantastic view of the shoreline which makes this an attractive place for most tourists. We went for lunch and it was quite busy I could tell that the staff was a bit overwhelmed and it took some time to get our food and drinks. The Hawaiian iced tea and hula burger were delicious. After lunch we actually decided to stay on the beach which is great for kids. I'd come back but probably only for a drink or two at the bar.

Had a nice experience at Betty's. As others have posted - and a local store owner shared with us - you can watch the feast luau from Betty's restaurant - crazy huh? But it's 100% true. We weren't sure if we wanted to pay the $$$$ for the luau so we wanted to sample it. We came to Betty's at 6:45pm just in time for the luau to start. A side note, glad we didn't pay for it. Talent was good but was long and drawn out. Food looked great but we actually left Betty's before it was over. Back to Betty's.... Yes, one of the reviews for dinner not breakfast. Food was ok. Besides the salsa with chips everything else was non memorable and just ok. Had quesadilla, mac & cheese, patty melt and hawaiian pork with cabbage. Just ok. Server was nice not rude as others have posted. Not super attentive but not bad. Besides view of luau, other views were beautiful of beach ocean. Place has a great spot. Crazy the place was dead. I mean dead - 4 to 5 tables full. This is a place that is largely location as others have stated. Food is not terrible but not memorable either. It does need to be reinvented. If breakfast is it's staple serve it all day including dinner time. If it wants to be a bar - be a bar and serve only bar food & sandwiches. If you want to be like Betty's is a mama's kitchen - you need to change it up then and improve quality. I would get Robert Irvine from restaurant impossible on Food TV and have him help you guys. Or cut a deal with Leoda's owners and have them move in. Sorry to say - location with bar - restaurant looking for an identity.

Cheap drinks, and a free view of the Hawaiian dancers from the neighboring high-end restaurant, what could be better? Didn't get to try the food, but this place had insanely cheap happy hour deals. My family and I came across this place by accident, but it was a happy one at least!

  • Sara S.

Inconsistent. Bland. Over-priced. Slow service. Went twice. The first time it was fairly empty and still took awhile for service. The second time it was busier and took 30 minutes to get food from the time we ordered. Everyone was nice, but that's way too long for a simple breakfast order. Loco moco. Bland. Meat was definitely frozen. Gravy was incredibly watered down. Tastes like plain wet white rice. Not good. Visually in appealing as well. Huevos rancheros with pork was okay. Needed a lot of Tabasco and salt though as it was also bland. Benedict was okay, nothing special, but not bad. Upside: good mimosas!

Friends recommended this place, they always go to less expensive restaurants on Maui, so we stopped in for coffee and to check it out. My decaf was cold, I sent it back to have a new pot brewed. Husband's regular was hot but didn't taste good, we paid for his coffee and left. The setting is great, no doubt about it. Restaurant is shabby. Our waitress was terrible, maybe she was working on her own, I had to get up and walk over to her to ask for a hot decaf. I waited about 10 minutes and left.

My brother and I stumbled (figuratively) across this place while walking through the Whaler's Village. Great happy hour and we totally scored on the Feast of Lele luau free view - mahalo! The local group at the bar was maowing on a big plate of chili cheese fries. Not what you usually think of when on vaca in Maui, but boy howdy did it smell good. And after baking our tushes on the beach all day it was totally what the doctor ordered. For our main meal my brother got the burger - if this was all we had they would have gotten a 2, even with the view and great happy hour. It was old, hard and tasted like cardboard. I was much better off with the Teriyaki Sesame Chicken Breast plate. Decent chicken with a great sauce, grilled pineapple, rice and cole slaw. Still recommend it - great service, decent price and phenomenal views...

"Please Seat Yourself" From now on, we will take these words as a warning NOT to eat at any restaurant that has that sign. Truthfully, after walking in, we should have turned right around. This place is a tourist trap to the nth degree! The view is beautiful but the decor is super tacky (think tiki bar in FL) and the food was terrible. In my omelet, the eggs were grayish, the bacon was burnt to a crisp, and the spinach must have been old. Everything had been horribly overcooked. My husband got the pancakes. They were huge and the top one was fine, but the two beneath it were barely cooked. The poor waitress had about 5 tables to deal with on her own (the only five that were occupied), so she was hard to flag down. We joked that they should have paid us to eat there. After eating only a bit of our food, we left. It amazes me that this place has 4 stars. Yelp has never been wrong! The only thing we could think of was that you can see the luau next door from Betty's. There are better options. Avoid avoid avoid.

  • Brian J.

The waitress was very nice. Now that's out of the way... We were there for happy hour and we were obviously disappointed. The drinks were cheap but terrible. We paid $2 extra for "a double" and it was the most watered down drink I've had in a long time. The maitai tasted like it had khaluah in it. The margarita was slightly better but had no flavor except salt. Very weird. They were also out of ceviche until they suddenly "got it back". We should have seen the red light on the dashboard with that. It was the consistency of tuna out of a can but mixed with chunks of tomato and onion that had almost no actual flavor. Even for $5 this was pathetic. We went to Kimo's for a real drink and food. Much better, even though its twice the price.

5 stars just for their location! We came across yelp reviews before going on our trip to Maui of how we can watch the Luau show from the cafe (since my husband and I are vegetarian- we didn't opt for a proper Luau)...well, we didn't think we'd be able to watch soooooooo close up and clearly!!i We thought we're going to get some side view or maybe just the music, but it was the whole deal! If you decide to come for the Luau, come around 530-6 to get a good table. Order food/drinks from the menu and you're good to go!

  • Lauren E.

Betty's was a really cool place to go I highly reccamend going. They have great happy hour $2 margaritas and good quesadillas. The best feature of this restaurant is that you have a great view of the Feast of Lele( luau). I would suggest reserving a table for around 8 or 8:30 and you can catch the best parts of the show for free every night of the week. The feast of lele cost about $100 person so this is a steal!

Loved the view, loved the service, loved the pulled pork sandwich, and really really loved the Mud Pie made with the local Roselani ice cream, fudge and whipped cream. The waitress said the slice would serve four and boy was she correct! I love me some ice cream and even with my husband's help, we came nowhere near finishing our slice.

We noticed this place from our hotel balcony, we stayed at the same place last year and didn't notice it so I'm not sure if it's new or not. We were glad we found it though! We went there for breakfast two times during our trip. The first time I had the Sausage scramble, it was pretty darn tasty and good size protions.. I couldn't eat it all and had to take a doggie bag. My boyfriend had the Betty's Pancake Party (I really appreciated him having to say the name of it to our waitress,, it made me giggle). The pancakes were so fluffy and light.. awesome! Home fries were good.. 2nd time we went for breakfast, the boyfriend had .. um.. well sheesh I was so excited about my dish that I have no clue what he got. I even looked up the menu online and I still don't have a clue. Oh well.. on to my yummies! I had the special of the day which was the Loco Moco.. now if you have never had this it's absolutly a must try if you visit the island!!!!!! Gotta try it once! My LM seriously was the biggest one I have ever had. NO JOKE! It was huge! So yummy and so wrong at the same time! I couldn't finish it but oh how I wanted too. I suggest this to anyone.. I've had them other place on the island and at Betty's is was so awesome I took a picture of the before and after! The location is amazing.. right on the beach. Beautiful view and service. Our waitress looked a bit like Scarlet Johansen (maybe thats why the BF liked it there!?) Huh?!? It's a must!!

If you can find this place, you're are better and faster than a GPS. We had a fun time looking for it. When we found it, we didn't want to leave just because it took us a long time to find it. The address is correct, but it's located in a universal address that houses lots of other businesses. It's masked by a modern looking structure, but once inside, it's a maze to find it. But we did and we were happy. It's a tight, closed space, but the open windows overlooking the beach and a outdoor dinning area to the restaurant next door made it seem bigger than it was. The nicest surprise was that we were able to watch a luau for free, since the restaurant next door hosts one every two to three times a week. We got lucky. Our meal was not a fortunate. Our pull pork was dry and the hallibut was over cooked, but the staff was friendly and it more than made up for the okay food.

We had breakfast here one morning and it was AMAZING. Just the right amount of food for the price and we were sitting by a window overlooking the ocean. Our server was great! Like with all things, a little bit pricey and kitschy but still great fun!

The gravy for the loco moco was amazing. Excellent coffee and atmosphere. The wait staff was laid back and polite. Seem to be many locals coming in, as the waitress knew almost everyone who walked in. They stock Cholula, and in my opinion, that gets extra points. Prices on benedict items was a little high. $17 for a mahi mahi benedict? Seems a little pricey compared to what I've seem locally elsewhere. Sarah S. was one of the friendliest servers were had!

Found this business searching for a moderately priced breakfast on Yelp. Neat beach decor with classic pictures. Great view of the ocean. The server Sarah, was very sweet and attentive. Ordered the pancake party-2 pancakes, 2 eggs, 2 bacon & 2 sausage. I upgraded to the banana macadamia nut pancakes for an additional $2. Well worth it-best pancakes I think I've ever had! The pancake party is filling and the pancakes are huge. 2 Pancake Parties & adding the banana nut, plus coffee came to $32. Reasonably priced breakfast-hot & tasty. I think I'd like to come here for lunch or dinner. Open until 11pm, pretty cool!

Another decent breakfast spot in Lahaina. Location was great being away from the more crowded areas of Front Street. Parking was so much easier to find. We were able to seat ourselves. The views are beautiful from their windows. Service was very friendly and fast. Prices are decent and menu selection was good for breakfast.

The banana pancakes were AMAZING! Three huge, thick, fluffy pancakes topped with lots of banana slices and chopped macadamia nuts.... so filling but so worth it! My husband had a lobster omelet with huge chunks of lobster in every bite... equally delicious but hitting a different part of the palate, YUM! And the double bloody mary's were the perfect finish to start the day. We are both picky when it comes to eating out, especially in super touristy areas since the quality of the food is sometimes overlooked, but Betty's was more than worth it. If we had more time, we would have returned. The ocean view was the perfect setting for the most enjoyable meal we had on our trip. Betty's is a must if you are looking for a delicious, filling breakfast!

Went here today with my family... All 20 of us! No reservations, just showed up. They didn't have a table to accommodate us all, but they clumped us into tables near each other. The server could not have been nicer. Not a single mean stare or rushed service simply because we were in a large group that didn't make reservations. A team of girl servers quickly took our order and had our drinks out. It's Sunday so several of us had the bottomless mimosas. At $10, it seems like a good deal, except their $2 mimosas are an even better deal. There's no way that we could have drank 5 mimosas to make the deal as good as the $2 mimosas, however, it gave us an excuse to drink up ("hurry so we can get another one! They're bottomless!") But 5 of them would have had us arrested as soon as we walked outside. The food was good. I had the mahi eggs Benedict, which was perfectly done. I did not hear a single complain from anyone in our 20+ party. Everyone enjoyed their food, and the view was right in front of the beach. If you go here at night, you can even catch the popular Luau right next to it (minus the HUGE price). When the bill came, another surprise. 20 of us? In Lahaina? By the beach? That's it? I will definitely be coming back here again. I'm a Lahaina native (living away on Oahu), so coming back home and finding a good place to eat is always a treat.

Came here for breakfast one morning, as we were staying at the Lahaina Shores right next door. Nice place with a view of the ocean, saw some whales playing around in the water. Breakfast was plentiful and good, service was great as well!

Awesome view of the beach (enjoy feast at lele for free)!! Good food. Great service. Bit overpriced but worth it.

A must-visit while you're in Lahaina, and if you go only once, you go to watch the Feast at Lele. Get a seat overlooking the deck, try to catch the Feast at Lele, and try to slide in during the early happy hour (2-5pm) or during the late happy hour. (9pm-close) Of course, the Feast falls during that 4-hour window, but you'll have to figure that one out yourself or just glue yourself to one seat all night! Drinks were excellent, the food was OK, but the whole experience with the luau makes it all well worth it.

Holy crap is this brunch tasty! I got the Mahi Mahi Eggs Benedict - the fish was so fresh and perfectly cooked and the hollandaise sauce was so creamy and the perfect compliment to the gooey egg and fish combo atop that buttery, crusty English muffin. WOW! The potatoes looked inviting, but my tummy only had eyes for the Bene. Drank about 4 mimosas with my breakfast, too. You can't beat $10 bottomless Mimosas! Especially when they are only lightly colored with the faintest hint of orange. The view of the ocean and the light breeze just topped off the entire experience! I didn't go here for lunch or dinner, but apparently it's a great place to catch the pricey Luau that goes on just outside the windows FOR FREE! Mahalo!

  • Q Q.

This is where you can go have a nice dinner and check out a free luau with the great view of the ocean all in the same time they serve breakfast here but it's kind of pricey unless you're a Tourist

Walked a bit off the beaten path since there was such great reviews. We were disappointed but it is Xmas day so the food may be better other days. Authentic decor but the tacos were too plain for our California taste. Service was good & great Hawaiian view! Just don't feel it lived up to reviews- again- it was a holiday tho!

Not what we thought. If it weren't for the beautiful view, it'd get 1 star. All that really needs to be said is that "Betty's Burger" (the hamburger selection on their menu) is quite obviously a pre-packaged frozen patty. It's huge (diameter-wise; thin height-wise) and nearly perfectly cylindrical. The waitress, who was quite sweet, didn't ask me how I'd like it cooked but I called out as she was leaving for medium-rare. The burger came and there was no red/pink at all. Just soft, lukewarm mushy meat in the center, just as I'd expect from a pre-made patty. If a place like this can't do a decent burger, it's not worth your time, in my opinion. My wife got the sesame chicken salad. It had good flavor but was swimming in dressing which became overpowering and seemingly an over-sweet, sticky from-the-bottle sauce. The view is beautiful over the coast, though. May be a decent spot for drinks.

  • C. F.

The one star is only because of the view. If your really here for just the food, forget it. It sucks!!

  • U'i K.

Great view. During the day you watch the water and the islands on the horizon, and at night you get to see some of the Feast of Lele show which is right in front of the restaurant. Good breakfast menu/price/selection. NOT GOOD FOR KIDS/FAMILIES! The kids breakfast menu lists "eggs any style" and that's all my child got, 2 eggs. No meat, rice or potatoes, not even toast! (Is that supposed to be a breakfast selection??) Also, they charged me FIVE DOLLARS for "P.O.G".!!! I work in restaurant locally and that juice comes from a big BOX. Couples-great place to go. . . Familes-find someplace more "friendly".

We visited Betty's primarily because of the good reviews for breakfast on Yelp. It wasn't busy and the food was pretty decent. The omelettes are large and the service was pretty good. The food was average or a little better. I might give it 3 stars, but the location is wonderful with a good view. We'll probably go back on our next trip. I'd like to try lunch or dinner.

While in Lahaina, ate here twice and was not disappointed either time. Not especially impressed, either, but that's why I gave it a three. On Wednesday nights they serve "Maine Lobster" for $13.95. It's "Maine" in that it's ancestors orignally came from there. The offspring have been born and raised in a cold water breeding facility in Kona. Still, the lobster was good. The Ginger Margarita had a slight hint of ginger and, as far as margaritas go, not that good. The Lycheetini was sweet, but that's to be expected with Lychee. On another occasion, tried the fish taco which was good, but not the best in Lahaina. My wife had the Lobster quesadilla which was a little shy on the lobster, but otherwise your standard quesadilla.

Like everybody says, the view & service was nice. But food was not that special. Banana nut pancake was huge but average taste. Omelette was overbooked and dry. We wanted to find new breakfast place besides Gazebo but little disappointed...

On the recommendation of our concierge we dined at Betty's so that we could watch the Luau show without the Luau prices. Be sure to consult someone so that you know when the Feast of Le Le will begin. Times vary. We made a reservation, however, we really didn't need one. The town was not busy. Perfect spot along the side to watch the show. We ordered the fish n chips (which were good and didn't taste or feel oily), the Mahi Mahi (we have had better, but was still good), and the Teriyaki Chicken with Pineapple. Service was friendly and waitress was helpful with suggestions. Definitely the best way of watching a Luau and the reason for the fourth star! Recommend the Mango Mudd Pie.

I have been here twice. Both times on the weekend. The meals I had were breakfast and were delicious. Of course, the $2.00 Mimosa special was a plus. I highly recommend this place for a relaxed brunch with friends. The view is spectacular and the servers are super friendly. Tip big. They deserve it.

We went here for dinner and loved the free view of Feast at Lele. It is a great location right by the water and we were lucky to be there on a night with a particularly beautiful sunset. Also there was a pretty good drink selection as well as vegetarian dinner choices.

Better than Gazebo. No wait, friendly service and great eggs benedict and a great view. gazebo gets all the love but it's a loooong wait, bit of a drive from where the hotels are and I found their egg dishes kind of meh (like the pog though)

  • Susan L.

Great fun place .. had my rehearsal dinner here and the staff really really try to make things perfect for you. The vibe was really fun. my only complaint is that the food came out kind of slowly (the last group had to wait a long time) but other than that we had a great time!

  • Sarah L.

If you're looking for a spot that's low key, this is the place. Situated away from the bustle of front street, it's not overrun with tourists and still delivers great views. The food is pretty darn good too! We went for the burgers. After sifting through a couple of dozen reviews, this seemed to be the best bet with about half a dozen options to choose from. Bacon cheeseburger and blazzing saddles burger were both delish. Although, I admit I was expecting the blazzing saddles to be spicy, but it lacked any bite...still very good though. Our server, Jason, was very personable and attentive. Great service, gorgeous view, reasonable prices for quality good.

This was one of the places we went for breakfast while we were in Maui. The view is worth 10 *s. The staff is very friendly. We noticed it more as we were traveling with a baby. Virgin lava flow was out of this world!! Omelets were good. Nice casual environment!! Must visit at least once if you are in Maui.

Excellent atmosphere and view of the ocean and sunset. Free luau on Friday nights. Nightly happy hour at 11pm every day and at 5pm. I had the lobster quesadilla and it was dang good. My wife had teriyaki chicken and she liked it as well. We also went their for Sunday brunch and we liked that the best. $2 mimosas. Negatives: bartenders are slow. They cover the bar area high tops in addition to the bar. The female bartender that we had Saturday 3/26/11was foul mouthed, but attentive. Good tunes and overall vibe.

Talk about a hidden gem in Lahaina... okay, all of Maui, this is it! This was by far the best breakfast I had in Maui. Many places were recommended but this was the best! I had the fresh fish eggs benedict and I couldn't get enough. To top it off, we were on the balcony overlooking the ocean and Lanai as the sun was creeping up over the volcano. The waitresses were cool, fun, funky, great! I know that this is a bit off the path of convenience but if you happen to be on or near Front Street, this should without a doubt be your top choice for breakfast!

Betty's is OK. The location is nice with views out onto Front Street & the ocean. The food is pretty average, although BIG portions. We split the pancake party for our kids & it was more than enough. I had the "Loco Moco" which is a famous Hawaiian dish consisting of a hamburger patty on a bed of rice with gravy & an egg or two on top (Betty's gives you two). Cool location in Lahaina, big portions, but nothing special.

My dish was great. We were on our daily search for an inexpensive breakfast alternative to the regular resort buffet fare. This was a good find. I enjoyed the huevos rancheros...very excellently prepared and topped with a lip smacking salsa. Hubby agreed that it was fairly excellent. He said his breakfast scramble was ok, but he was disappointed to learn that his tasty, fresh-squeezed OJ was $5 per medium sized glass. He said it was good, but a little overpriced. I think the food is fine, but a little more expensive than some of the other places we found. All in all, a neutral, a-ok for Bettys.

3 stars for food. 5 stars for the view. Come sunset time most of the Front street restaurants with ocean views are packed. We stumbled across Betty's by accident and the poor place had only a few other couples there. Wanting to watch the sunset from dinner won out over our anxiety. The view is WOW. There isnt a hostess but one of the nice servers greeted us right away and told us we had our pick of seats. Our orders were taken quickly and our server was friendly. And like other reviewers said right outside was the Feast at Lele. We had perfect seats for the luau show. How cool is that? So 1. Amazing sunset 2. Free luau show. 3. Good service 4. Well I guess I should mention the food. I was avoiding that one. That was...ok. Not amazing. Not bad. But ok. I had the pork and cabbage and my wife had a tuna melt. Both were ok. We loved our dining experience though for the other reasons above. So overall, come if you don't want a wait at sunset and are down for a free show. We will be back.

Super service, excellent brunch, great drinks. What a wonderful place! We wandered in here at 1:50pm a couple days ago, just in time to get our brunch order in before 2, and then just in time to enjoy happy hour drinks starting at 2. Best of both worlds! The service was super friendly, and the omelettes are particularly good. Went back that evening for a drink (and a sneak peek of the Feast of LeLe which you can see from the patio). AND we've hit them one more time for brunch. Each time the service has been superlative (including the bartender). Oh, and the view doesn't suck. :) We will probably head here again before our time in Maui comes to an end.

Tasty breakfast food! We stopped here on our way out of town, and I tried the lobster benedict. It was incredible! Definitely not to be missed. Great views. Tucked away in what can only be described as a convoluted strip mall, Betty's was a fun treat. I hope to return someday!

This is a wonderful spot!!! Laid back delicious food. I could not finish it all. My husband had pancakes and they were amazing, fluffy and delicious. I had the Messy Betty. Excellent flavor meld of cheese eggs and salsa! We both had bloody marys with double shot and I caught a nice morning buzz! The drink was superbly made!! Only downfall no raw sugar. I mean come on this is Hawaii that should be a must on every table. I highly recommend place!!! Oh beautiful view too!!!!

Our favorite breakfast place to go during our stay in Kaannapali. Yelp helped us find this location. It is towards the south side of Lahaina, out of the hustle bustle. Easy to find parking near or walk to from the shops. We came early in the morning (before 9), and there were not too many customers at the place (it quickly filled up later on), so we had our choice of seats in front of an amazing view of the ocean and molokai. Favorite dish here is the huevos rancheros, also tried the Messy Betty which was delicious as well! Staff is pleasant although they can be a little slow when the place gets busy. Price is just right! For two breakfast plates (omelettes, eggs benedict, what have you) with two coffees, comes out to around $30 which is great for Maui.

Food was far better than one would expect from the not-fancy but casual-nice surroundings. Nice sauces and fresh food. Super warm, helpful service. We sat on in the back of the small open area and were able to see the hula show at the adjoining restaurant. Our food looked waaay better than the touristy stuff the people next door were eating.

Best part was watching the luau next door for free- which is definitely a bonus! So don't take out a 2nd mortgage on the home and buy tix for a luau... Head to Betty's and enjoy the scene for free!

Our favorite place in Maui. Breakfasts are delicious... try one of the scrambles or the french toast - yummy! Staff is very friendly and provide great service. Ocean view from every table. Also have a good happy hour - drinks are half price or less. No happy hour prices on food, but the appetizers are reasonably priced anyway. The pineapple quesadilla is fantastic.

    (5)
  • Jonathan H.

Good food, good portions, and a reasonably-priced menu. Also, the mojitos are absolutely refreshing and delicious. The restaurant has an absolutely phenomenal view, and it's a bit out of the tourist heart of Lahaina, so it's a nice place to relax and get away from some of the crowd. The menu isn't anything to write home about- nothing will really blow you away. But, the drinks are good and the staff is friendly. The happy hour makes the place totally reasonable- basically half-off well drinks, but their well liquors aren't anything to complain about. Nothing I'd write home about either, but one of the better '$3 mai-tai' places on the island.

Boooooo ok so I went here with my family on the recommendation of several others. They claim you go to have $14.99 lobster and see an amazing show that others are paying $125.00 for. So I figured why not I am always looking for a great deal and good food. Here is the break down....I made reservations 2 weeks in advance, this place is a hot ticket , right? I was told that they would do their best to seat us outside to see the show, but it really shouldn't be a problem. We arrive 5 minutes before our reservation and no table except for in the bar with no view. No thanks we can wait. I mean look at this place it's not fine dining you are there for the show, so we waited. To my surprise another party of 6 was seated front and center while we waiting. Did they have reservations, maybe but I can tell you that my parties name was the first reservation made and had a star next to the name. I checked the book as the hostess walked away :). I am fine with waiting what I am not fine with was that when we were seated we had to be separated. Really?! A reservation made 2 weeks ago that was on time and willing to wait 20 minutes is being separated? Nope! We did take the tables because we were informed if we did not we would have to wait an addition hour. Strike one! Next as my separated party ordered we noticed a waft of an unbearable smell coming up next to us, sewage like. Hummm appetizing, we asked our waitress and no joke she played dumb. "umm no I don't smell anything" Really how do six of us smell that and you don't? Strike two! We order, yes the lobster is 14.99 with and additional purchase, fine we order drinks no problem. The show begins. I have seen the $125.00 fest of lei lei and by no means is this a fair representation of the living art that these men and women do on a nightly basis. You cannot hear the beautiful music over the loud drunk woman trying to find her sugar daddy, you cannot enjoy the serenity of the ocean view behind the bar maidens tossing down $14.99 lobsters. And finally you do not feel the romance of Hawaii in Betty's that you would downstairs at the fest of lei lei's. I would have given this place a 1 star but the lobsters were good not filling but good. You do work like hell for you food. That's strike 3. Bottom line is if you want to work for your food and you are cheap go to Betty's. If you want a show with good food spend the money and go to the fest of lei lei.

Not sure why all the great review of this place. Sure the place was cozy enough, and the wait staff was friendly enough. But I found the food quite subpar. The drinks were not cold enough. The teriyaki chicken breast I had was dry and over cooked, and even the rice side dish was cold. Probably the only plus was that you can see the Luau dancers performing at the Luau next door. Will not likely return to this place.

After reading many reviews for Bettys, we gave it a try this morning. We have NO idea why people are saying this place is so awesome. Other than the view, it has ZERO going for it. Poor service, dirty dingy restaurant and food was nothing special. I ordered a fruit plate and a short stack. The fruit plate consisted of: 3 small cubes of pineapple, 1 cube of canteloup, 4 cubes or orange, old soggy honeydew and 6 purple grapes. It was served in bowl with a tiny ramikin of vanilla yogurt for $10!!! The pancakes were nothing special and barely hot. My husband had french toast and bacon. MEH was his response when I asked him how is was. (Still laughing at that ten dollar small fruit bowl!!) Our server seemed stoned and never offered any refills on our beverages either. Will we try it again when we make our annual Maui pilgramage? NO WAY!! (Longi's has the best breakfast in our opinion!! )

This is a DINNER review. Oh my goodness what a LET-DOWN. After reading all of the reviews regarding how amazing the food was (mostly at breakfast, I'll admit) we were happy to give this place a chance for dinner on a Saturday night in Maui. We should have known to walk right out the door when we arrived at 6pm and we were the only ones there for dinner. There were a few people at the bar enjoying drinks, that was it. We opted to stay, thinking that because the happy hour was over ($3 Mai Tais!) that perhaps we got lucky by missing the crowd. Nope. Dinner was one notch below mediocre. My husband ordered a beer and it came out 2 inches below the top. Psh. My salad had a decent dressing over wilted lettuce. The chicken on my salad looked as if it had been hastily sauced after the cooking process. Even my 4 year old daughter's chicken strips were dry and tasteless. I would be willing to try this place again for breakfast since that appears to be where this place rocks, but it will need to be on another visit to Maui. Don't even bother going for dinner. 2 stars only for a great location and serving food that wasn't rotting. We even stopped a couple outside the restaurant and told them nicely that they might enjoy looking for a different place for their romantic dinner. They were very appreciative!

Great view of the Feast at Lele and the sunset, but the food was only so so. Typical bar type food; but for a place right on the beach one would hope it was cooked better. All the fish ordered was dry and over cooked and the burger was bland. Tasty cocktails and you can upgrade to a double for just a few dollars more. Service was to be expected. So I guess the stars are for the tasty cocktails and the view.

I love this place! Came here with hubbs a few times during our eight day stay.. Only came in for breakfasts.. Had a bloody Mary with every meal, DELICIOUS! got the chorizo burrito twice, egg scramble another time.. Literally right next to our hotel we stayed at..

We ate at Betty's for lunch. Besides the good food (mahi mahi sandwich for me, fish tacos, nachos and caesar salad for the rest of the family) we enjoyed the fresh ocean breezes, the wonderful view of the ocean and the surfing dog and panther-like kitten. The waitress was wonderful, and made sure all was well just enough. Very relaxing, just what we needed. Also, we found (free!) street parking.

Visited Betty's twice during our Maui vacation. 1st was for breakfast. I had the Messy Betty. It was tasty, my husband had the day's special, of chorizo burrito. He still raves about it! The view was nice, and our waitress nice, and recommended we come back for dinner, for their $13.00 Wednesday night lobster special. Came back, based on her recommendation. We got there during dinner rush, waited at the bar while a table was available. Took no more than 15 minutes. We got to enjoy a free Luau, courtesy of the restaurant next door. Even better, right!? I ordered Mahi and lobster...the fish, unfortunately, was dry. The lobster was good, but had better. Overall, would recommend for breakfast.

We just left Betty's, where we enjoyed our first breakfast on maui. We chose Betty's based on its yelp review, as we were looking for something local, with decent prices and a view. We were not let down! While it was a little hard to find, when we finally found it we were thrilled to find that on a saturday morning at 9 30, there was no wait. We got to choose our own table, and of course decided on one right by the water. The view was impeccable - the beach, sail boats, lanai, very few tourists about, if any... Though it was already roasting outside, the open air restaurant was breezy and cool. Our waitress, who was sweet and extremely attentive, helped us make our selections: macadamia nut banana pancakes and the cheese omlette, and offered us 2 dollar mimosas! My boyfriend ordered a guava mimosa, and i ordered the pineapple one, but we ended up switching. In spite of the absurdly good deal, the champagne to juice ratio was extremely generous. When our food arrived, we were both already buzzing from our early morning cocktails, and were impressed by the portions. The omlette was pretty straight forward but perfectly cooked, and the mac nut pancakes were 3 immense, fluffy, plate sized cakes layered between each with fresh bananas and chopped macadamia nuts. Even sharing, we couldnt finish half the order. The best part was, after all of that food and amazing mimosas, our total came to less than 20 bucks, plus tax. Needless to say, I will be recommending this joint to everyone I know. Our trip is off to an amazing start!

This review is ONLY for brunch. It sounds like lunch/dinner here might be better, but if you're looking for a good brunch, skip this place. My eggs were underdone, the french toast was pretty much a brick, and the pancakes were cake-like (not in a good way).

Decent not exceptional great service, our server was nice and prompt and the food seemed fresh but was just basic lunch food the bacon cheeseburger was better than the quesadilla but Both were good would come here again

Awesome beachfront Bar and Restaurant with a superb Happy hour and excellent food tucked away from the main street crowds. Get local and visit them then duck into the ocean before the trip home !

Bar food.

Visited November 2014

    (2)
  • Alex W.

  • Bryce F.

This place is a sure-bet winner pick...but not speedy. The view is great, the service is friendly, and the food is good. It seems the only flaw is the output of the kitchen. We were there on a slow day for lunch, so it was particularly surprising to have to wait so long for our order to come out.

  • Mimi R.

  • Andreas L.

    (4)
  • Chris C.

  • Brianna S.

The food is ok. The view is amazing though so it makes any simple meal taste better.

Several pluses here.... First time to Maui, I've eaten dinner here 3 times. The Staff is super friendly, yummy food, decent prices & awesome view of the sunset over the ocean!

  • Joel S.

Not bad, but nothing special. There's better places to eat in Lahaina. Good view of the Le Le luau for free tho!

This place is a hidden gem! Breakfast is excellent and we went back for lunch & happy hour, all perfect! All our servers were great and the manager, Eddie always came to make sure we were happy! We'll always make this a must have!

Located next to Lahaina Shores. Great place for drinks at sunset. Good bar service and decent Mai Tai's. Nice walk from downtown Lahaina.

$10 Manhattan, no cherry, no sweet vermouth. Margarita tasted like salt water. Avoid this place.

Yes we got the $15 lobster on a Wednesday. Yes, we got to watch the luau show just outside the windows. Beautiful view. All in all a fun evening. We got there early for happy hour (4pm) and to beat the dinner crowd and get a good seat and that's how you do it.

  • Leopard S.

  • Lindsey M.

  • R D.

Mahalo!

Best breakfast I've had on the island. Go for their Sunday brunch, because you can't beat $2 mimosas.

Good service and a free luau. Hard to beat! The service was great too.

Great loco moco...kinda hard to screw that one up though. Nicely quiet for a Sunday morning breakfast. The gf loved the coconut syrup! Loved it would be an understatement. Friendly service, decent pricing.

This place had the best happy hour deals in the area. The food was better than average and the view of the beach was fantastic. The staff were courteous and the drinks were nicely made.

Both the food and view were awesome. Open air restaurant facing tge ocean, tucked into the back of the 505 shops. Went for breakfast, and could not have started the day off any better.

My wife and I were getting bummed about the whacky prices typical in this town ($45 for a steak, $15 for a salad). This place had great prices and excellent food. Great views, right on the beach. Everyone was very friendly and the service was first rate.

Banana pancakes were delicious and the Mahi Benedict was to die for.
