3.5 stars decent rustic family-style italian restaurant for no frills italian. fresh salad (could not find a single wilted leaf) al dente pasta not overly saltly (unlike many other establishments in the area) very friendly and attentive wait staff. surprisingly busy between 5-6pm

I have no complaints! Great food and super friendly service. We had shrimp scampi - a major hit! We also asked if they would make the pesto dish vegetarian which they gladly did. I would totally recommend this for a nice dinner out in Kihei.

The first time I dined at this place I fell in love with the Osso Bucco and the service was just okay. Second time - food was okay - service was fantastic. Third time - food was less than okay AND the service was not good at all. My boyfriend ordered the Chicken Parmigiana and what we got was chicken katsu with gravy. I'm not joking. My osso bucco wasn't as good as I remember but maybe it was because our server was kind of condescending to us. It was a busy night in a small restaurant with two servers running around. Still...no excuse for the ill manner in which we felt treated. We will not return to this restaurant for a fourth time.

Who would expect a top notch Italian restaurant (menu in Italian) in the corner of a strip mall! Reasonably priced especially for the quality.. Nice ambiance. Friendly wait staff. Free parking.

Like a home cooked meal for our family, 5000 miles from home. We ate here tonight and everything was outstanding! Spaghetti and meatballs, seafood scampi, shrimp scampi, and my daughter had pepperoni pizza, which she claimed was excellent. Bruschetta and the Gorgonzola salad were both excellent starts as well. I would definitely go back again. The staff worked very hard as the place was busy. I recommend calling ahead, which I intended to do, but never acted on the thought.

After reading the reviews I thought this would be a perfect casual spot to get a good quality meal. The staff was very nice but they can the food and ambiance could be way better. The spagetti was good but nothing to celebrate. The gorganzola ravioli was "thick doughed in runny sauce". The wine tasted spoiled even though it was a new bottle. Perhaps they were having a bad night but it is too bad...as expensive as food is here...I won't be back.

The food was very delicious. Prices are not too high for Maui. It's in a strip mall but once your inside you don't realize it. Give this place a try. Veal parm, shrimp Alfredo, caprese salad, bolognase and chocolate cake all yummy

Oh man, they used way too much those dried Italian spices that comes in a bottle on everything. It's just terrible. If you want to pay $20+ for a bowl of over sauced, bland and tasteless pasta, then go for it! Otherwise, you are better off pocket your money and east somewhere else.

We came back for dinner with our friends on Thursday night as we recalled the wonderful food and tiramisu we had from previous vacation. Both our families vacationed together and had all our kids with us then and chose Antonio to celebrate our daughter's birthday. I am glad to report that the food and tiramisu is still awesome!!! All our dishes were very good and I highly recommend the Pasta Puttanesca!!

We really enjoyed ourselves. The place is a hole in the wall and decor is...interesting. But does it really matter? Both the servers were super friendly though quickly becoming overwhelmed as the restaurant got busier. The mushroom risotto was good, but I thought the addition of edamame was quite odd. Overall, the food was just the homey simplicity we needed after too many days of rich eating.

Food was great! Who would have thought we could find awesome Italian food in Maui? Service was not rushed. The waitress was super friendly and by the end of our meal we felt like she was our long time friend. We will go back again and again!

Good solid Italian food, excellent service. The scallop appetizer was incredible. My husband's cannoli was good and my chicken pesto was ok, tasty but a little dry. We'd eat here again.

they give kama'aina discount 25% off sun-thurs between 5 and 6 pm. service was great! food taste was pretty good.

Nothing to write home about... sauce tasted like it came out of a can and the portions were on the small side for an Italian restaurant. But hey, it might be a Maui thing...

I wouldn't bother. If you like olive garden you'll probably like the food here.

What a great staff. Went there because it had good reviews on yelp. Loved the red and white checkered table cloth when we walked in. Seafood pasta rocked, steamed clam apps. Mentioned I saw them on yelp had no idea they had 4 star rating. I am italian and appreciate authentic food. Thumbs up to the little place in the corner by Longs that I would never have gone into. Thanks Yelp....

WOW!!!! This was the best place! The food was amazing, service was over the top, atmosphere was welcoming. Portions were perfect and the prices were reasonable. My husband and i split a dinner salad which was plenty big enough , they were kind enough to bring it out on two plates for us, and the best gorgonzola dressing i have ever had. My husband had the alfreado and was very good. I had the chicken pesto and it was just as I had hoped. We shared our entree with our children and had desert. Which was creme brûlée and tiramsu and was delicious. The bill was around $65. Which was the cheapest dinner we had out and hands down the best!

This place is hidden in the back of the Long's strip mall, but we had read about it in our guidebook and wanted to eat somewhere relaxing that didn't involve bar food or deep fried food, and wasn't over $30/entree. That is harder to find than you would think! The service was extremely friendly, and the food was solid, although not anything terribly unusual. They have a reasonable wine list and a good caesar salad. For entrees, we had the smoked salmon pasta the chicken mushroom pasta. Both dishes came with more sauce than pasta, and the servers kept offering us new plates of bread to sop up the sauce. (I am not a huge bread person, but someone did manage to eat the two baskets that we accepted.) If I were in Maui again, this is definitely somewhere that I would return. I think it was about $65-70 (before tip) for a bottle of wine, a caesar salad, and two entrees.

After a drive back from Hana, we came to this restaurant without too much research. We've ordered the seafood risotto and the chef special, seafood scampi. It turned out both dishes were identical except the scampi served with penne. The risotto actually tasted pretty good with strong white wine taste. On the other hand, the pasta has way too much sauce. I think the service is quite good. However, I can understand that some people may find the waiting staff are a bit overfriendly and cheesy. The end of the day, they are just trying to make their customer happy. We need to take a chill pill.

My husband and I are visiting Kihei. I was craving Italian food. This was right by the condo we were staying in and had good reviews on Yelp. He had Veal Parm that was so flavorful and delicious! I had the Bologanese wow! All of it was great and satisfied my craving for good Italian food.

    (5)
  • Jen P.

Average pastas, average decor, average service (1 waitress for 2 tables and she was running around! it was bizarre). I had the pasta bolognese, basically spaghetti w/ meat sauce which is what I wanted. The bf had the chicken parm. My dish was quite tasty, with a flavorful sauce, generous portion, and only $9. The chicken parm was a diff story. It came with 2 big breaded chicken breasts that were too dry, and a bowl of penne pasta in a tomato sauce. The penne was underwhelming, completely bland. Also, this is touted as an authentic Sicilian place but all the kitchen staff, chef included, were Asian. It was kind of funny since it wasn't expected.

    (3)
  • Scot K.

The was good but not spectacular. My daughter had the a basic meatless pasta and I had the salsiccia. The only difference in taste was the sausage I had in mine. Not your typical Italian cooking. For some reason they couldn't serve any alcoholic beverages, so unless I went to Longs, I couldn't have any wine with dinner. The wait staff was excellent, but the food was average. A little disappointing from the reviews from others.

ok, we went again. and again, it was awesome. perfect. the wait staff is the best, the food delicious, the price reasonable. we will go there again, and again, and again....

Pretty good Italian food that we ate at twice during our 4 days on Maui. The mushroom sauces are delicious, and they don't scrimp (did someone say SCRIMPS?!) on the mushrooms... the bf had the chicken mushroom marsala sauce, and i had the pink sauce with mushrooms. They use enochi, shitake, crimini, oyster, and a bit of dried porcini mushrooms. tirimisu was merely okay, and the ravioli i had the send night was good, but a bit overpowered by the sauce. why am i giving it 5 stars? well... first, if you've tried eating on maui more than once, you know that maui food runs the range from mediocre to truly horrible, with prices that are jaw dropping. Antonio's was very reasonably priced italian food, expect to pay $10-20 for a healthy portion, and they don't skimp on the good stuff. second... the mushroom sauce is 5-star worthy, even in SF!

  • Michael K.

Expecting to find real Italian food on Maui is kind of like looking for good bagels in Tehran, or kosher hot dogs in New Delhi. My advice is to stick with what they do best in Hawaii- wonderful fresh fish, delicious Asian cuisines, and the "local style" dishes that are derived from them. We tried this restaurant one time, just to see if it was possible to get real Italian food on Maui. It isn't, at least, not here. I had the same impression of the service as another reviewer. It's a small place, yet the wait staff run around like chickens with their heads cut off, which does not make for a relaxing meal. I had to remind the waitress twice just to serve me my drink. The tables have red checkered tablecloths. That worried me right off the bat. The menu was as clichéd as the decor, and not executed well. I had a ravioli entree, which tasted like frozen supermarket Italian food that you heat up in the microwave.

Place is in a strip mall. Don't let that deceive you. Food was great. Wife said that she would come back tomorrow if we were staying another day. Server was amazing -- welcoming, engaging, funny. Server helped my daughter make up her mind, which was amazing in and of itself. I'd go back.

On our honeymoon in Maui, we were looking for places to eat nea r Kihei area and through Yelp, I found this place. I am so glad that I did because this is one of the best restaurants we've ever eaten, even my hubby agrees with me! It was that good that we dined there 3 times during our 7 days stay in Maui. All 3 times, I ordered seafood pasta, it was the best seafood pasta I've ever had! The sphagetti was just cooked al dante (perfect) , even thought the dish is little on the soupy side, the pasta was still al dante and never soggy. The seafood was cooked perfectly and the portion was huge! They don't skimp on the ingredient not like some restaurants. for only 17 something dollar, you get a very flavorful delicious seafood pasta. Everything was cooked perfectly. We also had their clam steamer for appetizer, fried calamari, seafood soup, seafood risotto, lassanga, pasta with mushroom sauce, pasta with vegetables and olive oil. All dishes are yummy and cooked to the perfection. The chef and the souf chef are Japanese and they make very good italian food. I am very impressed! If you ever go visit Kihei, Maui area, definately try that place, you will not regret!

Antonio's was a spur of the moment decision since it was 9pm, and we were just looking for somewhere to go. They were very accommodating to our large and loud party. They even gave our table a complimentary bottle of wine since we had a husband and wife to be in our group. The food was average, nothing spectacular but pretty good for Hawaii. I can't really remember what I had since it was so long ago but I know that a few people had the chicken alfredo which was not bad. The calamari and mussels for appetizers were also pretty good. They have an alright selection of wine.

this place is small but the staff is super friendly. the place is very home-y and it's such a calm place to be in. the food was great, the wine list was decent, and the bread is so good!. i love how the waiters/waitresses talk to you like they know you, it makes you feel comfortable. i just love this place!

Very reasonable prices for the quality of the food. "Made from scratch". The eggplant was incredible. Not sure how they got the outside so crunchy. Don't expect to pay for atmosphere here. It is clean and basic, but go for the food!

I've had lots of high end Italian food across the U.S and in Italy. And I've been surprised at how the low to mid price restaurants in strip malls hold their own in several occasions. Antonio's has excellent food prepared with great care and warm service (be sure to ask for Stephanie who was super attentive, outgoing and happy making sure our family of five on our first trip to Maui was well fed). I had the homemade sausage and peppers, my 13 year old had an unusually good Alfredo, and my 19 year old daughter had a chicken and mushroom dish (with dill spice I think) that we all wound up taking multiple bites from. The Hawaiian pizza we had as an appetizer tasted brick oven baked, even though it wasn't - with an awesome thin crust. The other app we shared was the calamari which was the only thing I wouldn't recommend (overcooked and lacking flavor). Top it all off with a nice selection of bottled wine under $30 and we were out the door for about $150 even with 2 desserts and generous tip, which isn't bad for this island. One last thing and not something you always experience with even the nicer Italian restaurants...the pasta was cooked perfectly al dente and all our meals were served piping hot. We're going back a second time before we head home.

We ate dinner here for 9 of our 16 nights in Maui. That should tell you something right there. The food was so good and the prices were also very reasonable for the quality of food and presentation. The service was also outstanding. They have an outstanding seafood risotto. I only wish I could find something this good at home in Chicago! My husband loved the seafood pasta. There was a nice selection of fresh seafood in both dishes. Their tirimisu was excellent. Save room for it!! I have to say that service on Maui can sometimes be a little lacking - but this was the best service we experienced on the island. Please check it out

If you're craving some good Italian food when in Maui, try this place out. You've had enough of ono, mahimahi and plate lunches - and you're digging some good pasta. Tucked away in the corner next to Long's drugstore is this small Italian find. The pastas were done perfectly al dente, the sauces were hearty and tasty - try the eggplant parmesan, the alfredo and the bolognese. Suggest you make a reservation though b/c they have only a few tables. Wait staff are attentive though a bit short-handed. Portions are generous and the bread nice and warm.

This place is good and priced well for Maui. The food was good and they were really nice with working with on changing part of my order. I ordered the eggplant -- very good! The pasta on the side, I asked for the pink sauce--- very good too! Wine selection is limited. Enjoy!

Recently found through Yelp and thought we would give it a try while we were over in Kiheh. The only reason I gave it four stars was for the location and decor (a bit dated and run down). The food and service however were some of the best we experienced on the island. Our family had the Lasagne, Pizza, and a Garden salad. All were fresh and absolutely great! Lasagne had a wonderful rich earthy taste and would absolutely get again. My wife thought the pizza was wonderful and I had an iced tea as well. It was great and often refilled before I was halfway through my glass. Can't wait to come back the next time we are in Maui (not to mention it was one of the cheaper meals we had while we were here as well).

This by far had to be our worst dining experience to date. Very frustrating trusting reviews to guide us to decent eating places. We split a Caesar salad after served a few slices of bread. With two glasses of wine ordered our entries. They arrived and was completely the worst version of botched Italian food. Buying a can of tomato sauce and grocery noodles would have been better. It's obvious that the owners took over an old business and have completely missed the concept of what Italian food is. This should have a negative rating. 100% fail.

The sun had us looking for something light, so we popped into Antonio's. We split a salad, bruscheta and spaghetti, and the food was great, and the portions were prefect! The staff was terrific!

My wife and I stumbled upon this restaurant back in 2011 and ate there twice on our week's trip to Maui. Fast forward to 2015 and we really wanted to go back because both of our experiences were very nice. We went last night and everybody in our party really enjoyed their food. Yes, it's in a strip mall and the inside is smaller, but it is clean and comfortable still. All 5 of us ordered something different, from fettuccine alfredo, to chicken scampi to creamy crab penne to seafood scampi. The fettuccine was very good and creamy. Noodles were cooked very well and portions were decent. The scampi sauce had very good flavor. Everybody finished their plate during the meal, but nobody left hungry, that's for sure. Service was excellent the entire time from both of the severs who helped us. It was neat to watch the chef do his work in the back of the building and watching him put together the plates within eye sight. Prices were reasonable and similar to prices back in Oregon for Italian food. About $17-20 a plate. 4 stars max due to overall location compared to other places on the island, but would definitely go back.

Amazing!!! We were craving Italian and happened to be in the town of Kihei and Yelped this place. It was super cute, small and quaint. Perfect for what we were looking for. The prices were super reasonable as well!!! Waitress was so nice and personable, she too was from California. We ordered the Caprese to start so fresh! We also ordered the meatball marinara and the Gorgonzola dish. Recommended by our nice waitress. So glad she did! If I ever come back to Maui I will be going here!!! Thanks for an amazing evening.

I heard about Antonio's from an Italian from New York who said, with no hesitation, it's the best Italian food on the island, and it comes close to his mother's cooking. It was very good. The fettuccini Alfredo kept well as a leftover which was awesome since the portions are large. I ordered take out. The restaurant is a hole in the wall, but once inside, the interior is well decorated and organized. I will definitely return!

A pleasant surprise! Small place with great selections and very authentic tastes. Our group enjoyed eggplant parm, ravioli, meatballs, and pasta bolognense. All meals were delicious and the tomato sauce tasted freshly made and prepared. Friendly service and surely to be enjoyed.

  • Chantal C.

I will start with the food...chef made and absolutely delicious. Hubby had the seafood pasta and I had the Gorgonzola with penne. I like me some Italian and this did not disappoint. The minestrone soup was fresh and even better with the cheese blend they provide with the extra soft bread. I can't say enough nice words about our server. She made the night even better with the menu suggestions and her super cool Hawaii-Cali vibe. If you stop on a fourth Friday don't forget to check out the wackos in the lot next door. 12 foot cross anyone???

Service and ambiance were wonderful. Portion sizes were just right. Meals are bursting with flavor. Decent selection of wine. If you like Italian cuisine then this place is a must to stop or take food home. Small but personable and they even take reservations or walk ins. Delightful experience!!

  • Mike B.

Great, friendly service, but sadly not great food and definitely not worth the price. 2 1/2 stars. The waitress was the right kind of attentive, good humored, and kind. If we could give her her own review, it would be a 5 star. But the food. Oh dear, the food.... The complimentary bread was white sandwich bread from a grocery store, though it was served with some delicious olive oil. We ordered the chicken pesto and spaghetti and meatballs that were edible, but with a strange taste (odd ingredients?), and the noodles with the pesto were dry. We agreed that we have eaten the same dishes elsewhere that were MUCH better tasting for the same price, and cheaper. Perhaps their seafood entrees are better, but otherwise, Yelp- your favorable reviews mislead us!

  • Ken M.

Wretched. Yelpers , you have led me astray. You guys are usually so reliable that I took the four star rating to heart and gave this place a try on our last night in Maui. Seriously people, give this strip mall spot a wide berth. I ordered the ravioli and decided to have it with bolognese. I don't know why, I just felt like it, and the menu described the sauce as being a family recipe or something. The bolognes cost an extra three fifty. Putrid is all I can say, jarred sause would have been a huge improvement. There was an unrestrained use of a dried herb that gave it an almost medicinal flavour. Gross. There were some folks that seemed to be enjoying their meat parmigiana, if you like pan fried chicken swimming in mozza then fill her boots

What a great find we were trolling for food and had gone to sansei the day before. Not sure what to eat we saw this place in the back corner of the strip mall. Drives italian sounded good and let me tell you this place is very good. Not the best I have had but man what a surprise. The cook is one of the owners and he is definitely a good cook. Will place this on my list of places to visit on the next visit. Try the crab fettuccine. Nice amount of crab.

When you can smell the best smells from the restaurant before going in, that is a good sign the food is good. We were not disappointed. The hostess was awesome and really took care of us. We ordered and oh lord the portions were HUGE. The veal parmigiana was in a very flavorful mushroom reduction and came with a side of pasta. You think side but it was more like a full entree. Again, all good and filling. Really they could cut the portion and offer a refill on the pasta to save money. Again one of the best meals we had.

  • Nevarlaw N.

Food was good not great and was expensive. I've had better Italian, painted sticky tables, pay for refills, just overall kind of hole in the wall feel, weird waitress felt like she was judging us, for pasta plates small portions for your buck, general disappointment in dining on Maui... Another example of If your not paying 100 bucks a plate expect mediocre food on island.

I visited Antonio's while on vacation in Maui and needed to carb-up for the Maui Oceanfront Marathon the next morning. First impression wasn't good and probably wouldn't have stayed if there more choice in Kihei. I think the food is okay and nothing special. I would not return the next time I'm in Kihei. Short story & the meal itself: I ordered an Italian sausage dish with red sauce and speghetti. I think the sausage was under cooked or was bad/expired already, because later that night I had a massive stomach & headache and cold sweat. This continued for 24 hours and of course I missed my half marathon the next morning. I don't think I was having the flu or a cold, because my usual duration is 3-4 days. I kept that in mind but it all went away after 24 hours and was back to normal. Overall the waitress that took our orders was really nice and attentive. Appitizers were good, but as mentioned above, I think my dish resulted in me getting food poisoning for 24 hours and missing my run. Even if I didn't get sick, the food seemed like typical Italian food and nothing that I couldn't get at Olive Garden in the States. Long story & Customer Service: Antonio's was the first Italian restaurant on my search list for pasta. Based on the photo of Tiramisu and mozzarella & tomato, I thought it would be a good choice for a party of 8. When my party first arrive, there was 4 of us and we didn't have a reservation. The waiter (Caucasin lady) asked if we would be willing to split our party into 2 tables. We didn't have a problem with that and I got the impression that she wasn't willing to move the table together. Not a big deal. We were quickly seated, but ignored for a good 10-15 minutes before another waitress (Japanese lady) asked if we would like waters to start. At the time we were seated it was not busy. Maybe only half of the tables were filled with customers. Nonetheless, I needed pasta for my race and looked over the menu while we waited. The second half of our party arrived but 2 people (Friend's grandparents) were not going to eat with us, so our party is 6 squeeze into a table that could seat 5 people max.

Went to Antonio's in late March 2014 and ordered their chicken parm, chicken alfredo, pesto noodles, and sausage with noodles. Across the board raves aside from a "its mediocre" for the sausage with noodles dish. Definitely recommend. The restaurant itself is very tasteful and elegantly decorated. As for the service, it was alright, there were a few times when our glasses remained empty for more than 5 minutes while there were only 2 other tables besides ours but other than that it was great!

  • Linda F.

My husband and I thoroughly enjoyed our pasta dishes - spaghetti and meat balls and lasagna! The split Caesar salad was served pronto! The wine server offered us a taste of the chianti first! Great service. My only suggestion to make the place special would be to add white table cloths to the plastic tables!

  • Tait G.

Excellent meal! Charlene, our server was great! Had calamari as an app, & the special crab with pasta & cream sauce. Pasta was perfectly cooked, & I could tell our food was made fresh to order. Dessert was a house made tiramisu, which was light and flavorful. Was my 1st time back in years, but will not wait so long between visiting next time.

I was craving pasta and decided to try this place as I had read good reviews and they were a decent price. I am so glad I chose to go here. The dining room was quite small. Service was excellent staff were very friendly and knowledgeable about the menu. There was 4 of us that went here. Everything that was ordered was amazing. I usually NEVER finish my plate but I just couldn't stop eating it was that delicious. Dishes that were ordered was fettuccini Alfredo, shrimp scampi, penne arrabiata and the spaghetti bolognese. The spaghetti wasn't my favorite but was still excellent. If u are visiting Maui and live Italian or craving authentic Italian pasta then don't think twice bout going here. I do suggest making reservations as it does full up fast and isn't a large okace

  • San H.

Service was awesome! Pasta was al dente which is a plus. We called ahead but the restaurant was not as busy as I had thought it would be on Mother's Day. My pesto sauce was good but the chicken was a little dry. Overall, I enjoyed the pasta dish. Rounded up to 4 stars for the service.

Almost hidden in the corner of a strip mall housing Long's Drugs as the anchor store, Antonio's was a pleasant surprise. I asked for the half order veal parmigiana and requested a different sauce. No problem. The server was very accommodating. When the food arrived, even a half order, it was tasty and abundant, so much so that I couldn't finish it all. A friendly atmosphere, this is the kind of place where a new customer might come over and ask what you are having because it looks so good. Given it a try, realizing that you aren't, in fact, in Italy. Still, this small restaurant creates dishes no Italian would be ashamed of. Enjoy.

The food here was just ok. Fabios was much better (4 to 5 *). They spilled olive oil and balsamic all over my girlfriend and then charged us for one of the meals.

Do not go to this restaurant. We chose it because of the menu we found online and it sounded great. The menu and prices were not even close to the real menu. They told us that someone had put a menu on the internet, but it was not them. Sounds like a "bait and switch" scam. We decided to try it anyway. The salad was disgusting with canned dressing and limp lettuce. We ending up leaving before the meal came. They were very apologetic. I think it is new owners or people running the restaurant, and they don't have a clue. We are not snobs when it comes to dining out, but this place is bad.

The food was very good, and the woman who greeted at the door was a hoot. I don't remember her name, unfortunately, but she was from the Tri-State area originally, and very friendly and witty. I ordered the veal parmesan and penne, and my meal was very good. I will definitely return when back in Kihei.

We picked this restaurant off of Yelp. It is located in a strip mall way back in the corner. When we first arrived there were only four other people eating here, which was a cautionary note. Not to worry. We were presented with a good standard Italian menu and told about some nightly specials. I had the crab pasta in a cream sauce; my partner had the mushroom risotto. We could not have been happier. My pasta for once was truly al dente and not over-cooked. The risotto was pronounced as good as it gets. With a small green salad and superb crème caramel, it was a memorable evening. Happily, by the time we left the place had many more diners, so hopefully it will continue. It deserves to!

Nice place. Good food, not too expensive. Service was attentive. It surprised me that the chef isn't Italian, but Asian!

My hubby and I were looking for some good Italian food without having to pay $$$$. We found this spot on Yelp and decided to give it a try. *I ordered the Wild Mushroom pasta and it was fabulous!! I am no vegetarian but the food was hearty with the use of some higher end mushrooms to add a little flare. $17.99 *Hubby ordered the Seafood Pasta with a white wine sauce. Again, really simply done but done well. $21.99 *For dessert, we ordered creme brûlée because I will always order creme brûlée when it's offered. Unfortunately this was not creme brûlée...it was more of a flan with a sugar crust. It was good but not a creme brûlée. Overall, this was a great find...a hole in the wall more or less. The server was a sweetheart that made you feel like family and the food was delectable for the price point.

Antonio's is an outstanding, locally owned, hole in the wall Italian restaurant. The food is outstanding, reasonably priced, and the service is always excellent. We eat there often, and take out on a regular basis.

Four stars? Are you joking? People must be living underground to think this is good Italian food. Home made Sausage and Peppers dish was horrible tasting. Should have sent it back. Server did not even inquire if there was something wrong with it, which there was, as all four in my party agreed. Other entrees just ok but overpriced lasagna and small portion. Bread served at table seemed to be store bought Italian bread. No atmosphere but could deal with that if food was good. Eat elsewhere!

For the record: They have renovated this place since the review below that states they need renovation. I have come here for many years, about once or twice a year, and have always enjoyed myself and my food. Pasta primavera: it is always full of veggies and good. Ravioli: Yummy! stuffs me everythime. The service here was very friendly and prompt. The food was delicious. I had the mushroom chicken and my wife had the seafood pasta. Both dishes were very well done. For dessert we had the cheesecake. It comes with a choice of either chocolate sauce or berry sauce, we couldnt decide which to choose so they brought us both on the side. Again, very friendly service. I definitely recommend eating here.

Small, cozy, very casual Italian restaurant with a very friendly and energetic staff, has a "family business" kind of feel. Flavorful pastas and pizza. You can even watch some of the cooking flare as the chef is within view from your dining room. Found this restaurant through a "Maui Revealed" guidebook. We enjoyed the pasta alfredo, pizza, and ravioli, where they even made a special sauce request that included marinara/alfredo/and a dollop of homemade pesto (I believe they said it was homemade) An endless fill of parmesan, too!!! Didn't fill up on the bread appetizer, but thoroughly enjoyed our meal and would return. I really appreciated the energy of the waitress, and how attentive they were! Service is worth the return trip :) Expected the prices for dining out in Maui, but the dinner here wasn't outlandishly high. Noted that the restaurant is near a GameStop/Longs Drugstore/Domino's Pizza/ and even a small sushi joint. I'm not claiming to be an Italian dining connoisseur, but I've traipsed through Italy and had the real deal which has yet been topped unless I return to Rome/Florence, so to get an idea, this place is decent for Maui and Italian cravings.

I honestly don't understand why anyone would give this 5 stars. The food was nothing special by any means and any time you hear a microwave beep coming from the kitchen every 5 minutes, YOU CANNOT rate 5 stars. Mediocre at best.

We've been looking for a good Italian restaurant for a while now and I think we've finally found it. My dh had the smoked salmon with pasta. He raved about each mouthful. I on the other hand had the ravioli con verdura (vegetarian HOMEMADE ravioli) with the PINK sauce. I was glad I couldn't eat it all so could I have some for tomorrow. We then splurged on a slice of the tiramisu. The prices were terrific, the service was stellar. If anything, we felt like we were having dinner with old friends. So glad we found Antonio's. We will be returning shortly!

Service and ambiance were wonderful. Portion sizes were just right. Meals are bursting with flavor. Decent selection of wine. If you like Italian cuisine then this place is a must to stop or take food home. Small but personable and they even take reservations or walk ins. Delightful experience!!

This by far had to be our worst dining experience to date. Very frustrating trusting reviews to guide us to decent eating places. We split a Caesar salad after served a few slices of bread. With two glasses of wine ordered our entries. They arrived and was completely the worst version of botched Italian food. Buying a can of tomato sauce and grocery noodles would have been better. It's obvious that the owners took over an old business and have completely missed the concept of what Italian food is. This should have a negative rating. 100% fail.

    (5)
  • Nevarlaw N.

Food was good not great and was expensive. I've had better Italian, painted sticky tables, pay for refills, just overall kind of hole in the wall feel, weird waitress felt like she was judging us, for pasta plates small portions for your buck, general disappointment in dining on Maui... Another example of If your not paying 100 bucks a plate expect mediocre food on island.

What a great staff. Went there because it had good reviews on yelp. Loved the red and white checkered table cloth when we walked in. Seafood pasta rocked, steamed clam apps. Thanks Yelp....

Enjoy.

Italian Cuisine

The immense popularity of Italian cuisine globally isn't unknown. You can find an Italian Pizzeria around every corner of almost every city in the United States. Not to forget that in every house, people enjoy mac and cheese as comfort food. But it would be wrong to believe that Italian food starts with pizza and ends with good pasta as this Mediterranean country has much more to offer other than these two dishes. In Italian Cuisine, there is a high use of fresh tomatoes, all kinds of herbs, great quality of cheese, all types of meat, seafood and fresh handmade pasta. Many find it hard to believe that Italians have been making noodles long back.

Italian and Greek cuisines are always mistaken to be same, but they are poles apart. The primary difference between the two cuisines is the use of cheese in most of the Italian dishes. Italians love to cultivate their own cheese and process them as per their food requirement. It is believed that some cheese is so expensive that cheese producers secure them in lockers.

If you are bored eating the same old pasta or pizza, you can try some of the authentic Italian dishes like Risotto, Polenta, Ribollita, Lasagna, Fiorentina Steak, Bottarga, Ossobuco, Carbonara, Focaccia, Arancini and Supplì. Another item which Italians love to relish every morning is a good cup of Italian Coffee. Once you taste a freshly brewed cup of Italian Coffee, you might not visit Starbucks ever again. Authentic Italian food is made with heart and soul, so go find a restaurant where you can relish Italian cuisine in your city.
