‘Ama ‘Ama Menu

Sorry, We are updating this restaurant menu details.

'Ama 'Ama is just OK. I wouldn't label it as fancy. When we entered the restaurant, we were greeted by the hostess, checked in, and were told to wait ( yelp.com/biz_photos/MDx6… ). We made a 6:30 reservation, but didn't get seated until 6:40. We were also 5 minutes early like instructed to. When we sat down the first thing I noticed was a moldy smell, which didn't go away. Maybe it's from their water fixture, but it's not a pleasant smell. There's no white table cloth, so some parts of the table were sticky. It would probably be cleaned better if the lights were up just a little. It's really dark at night, and hard to read the menu. Last night was muggy, so it was not comfortable - 'Ama 'Ama is covered, but open air with fans. Our waiter, Isaac, was really nice and helpful, but I hardly saw him and my water needed refills. The pandesals with butter and salt were good and hot ( yelp.com/biz_photos/MDx6… ). I had it refilled twice. My wife and I ordered the 'Ama 'Ama Menu for Two ($115) Appetizer Sampler ( yelp.com/biz_photos/MDx6… ): - Big Eye Tuna and Sea Asparagus Poke Martini - Hamakua Mushroom Tart with Baby Arugula, Coriander Crème Fraîche, and Parmesan - Heirloom Tomato and Mozzarella Buratta Cheese with a White Corn Vinaigrette and Baby Basil - Spare Ribs I had a perception we would have individual plates, but nope, we had to share the plate. Bone-In Rib-Eye Steak for Two ( yelp.com/biz_photos/MDx6… ): Our other waiter, Justin, told me and my wife that the steak was "melt in your mouth" tender, but it was partially chewy and some pieces were not chewable at all and felt like gum. Hawaiian Chocolate Cake ( yelp.com/biz_photos/MDx6… ): I also had a perception we would have our own dessert plates, but no, we had to share the plate. The first few bites were really good, but ended up being really rich. I would've ate the entire cake if there was an equal portion of ice cream. I had it packed up so I could finish the rest with ice cream at home. For the price, I'd rather go to Roy's across the street - the food is so much better. My co-workers like to come here during lunch since it's close by. We ended dinner a little after 9 p.m., so we walked over to the hula show a few yards away. 31 Yelps Review Challenge - 23 of 31

Gosh, what an over hyped, over rated, over priced place. We made reservations with great expectations: "Singature Dining" is how they promote themselves. Signature price, mediocre food is more like it. The staff is terrific, excellent service, but that does not make up for the okay food.

Within the Aulani is this more upscale restaurant. There are several families with children here of course because of the location. My hubby and I dropped off the kids at Auntie's Beach House and had a lunch date here. The waitress recommended this great drink with vodka and cucumber and sparkling juice or water (I can't remember exactly), I think it was called the Cucumber Mist or something like that. It was soooo good! I had the fresh fish salad, and my hubby had the fish tacos. The view is phenomenal. It's very relaxing, with great service. The prices are pricey, but what do you expect :) Make reservations for sure!

5 stars for customer service 3 stars for food I'll be back to try out more food and drinks on the menu! ======= LOCATION & PARKING AA (not to be confused with... you know) is one of the beachfront restaurants at Aulani Resort. You don't need to be staying at the resort to eat a meal here, you can just drop by and visit! Parking is validated by the restaurant. ======= FOOD & DRINKS **Fish Tacos & Fries** (3/5) I read reviews about people raving about it. Was I missing something? It was "okay" in my book. I didn't even finish both tacos and had to take it to-go! A friend who ate my leftovers said the fish was really good though. Are my tastebuds off? The fries were the thick cut kind (not a fan), I wish I went for a salad instead. **Angus Chuck Burger & Sweet Potato Fries** (4/5) Delicious and juicy, made exactly to our liking. Certain garnishes were on the side, which I think is quite thoughtful for the kitchen. The SPF - delish! Made me rethink my order of fries. I'm pretty sure I ate more of the burger and SPF than my boyfriend. I wish there was a signature sauce that it came with to make it unique. But with the usual default order of the burger, AA didn't disappoint! **Blue Hawaii (with a twist)** (5/5) Our server recommended that we try the blue Hawaii, but blend it with pina colada mix. BEST DRINK I'VE HAD IN MY LIFE. So delicious! Next time I go anywhere, I'll make a special request for this type of drink! ======= SERVICE & ATMOSPHERE Seating from anywhere within the restaurant will give you a beautiful view of the blue ocean. If you want a more secluded spot, just ask one of the staff once you check in. It may take a bit longer to get seated, but for a pristine view? Worth it. Another thing Disney prides itself in is how attentive they are to the needs of their guests. My boyfriend is allergic to melons, avocados, and the list goes on. The kitchen made sure to have a completely separate food prep area for avoid any allergy contamination. A+ in my book! Disney goes above and beyond to make sure that our needs are met and that we are pampered during our meal. Our server was very keen an attentive, knowing when to step in to give us more water, and knowing when we wanted to have alone time watching the shore. ======= OVERALL If you're visiting the islands and are NOT staying at Aulani, eating at 'Ama 'Ama is a great way to get a feel for this resort environment. The food may be hit or miss, but I'll willing to try out other things on the menu. TRY THE TROPICAL DRINKS! And dip your toes in the sand if you have a chance to relax after your meal. ======= TIPS * Bring $$ because if you're even the slightest Disney fan, you'll spend tons at the gift shop on your way out * Walk around the resort confidently and don't attract attention to yourself if you're just scoping around (if you don't have a wristband and are in the swimming area, you may be escorted out) * Make reservations online * Note any allergies on the reservation so they will prep food accordingly!

We had a really good experience here. The filet and short rib were the bomb. Filet was cooked perfectly and served with creamed leek and spinach. Live music was played the entire time we we seated. The view of sunset is amazing. This place is pricey but well worth it.

We were staying at Aulani so we had the luxury of dining on -property at 'Ama 'Ama. As noted by others, the view is to die for. It's one of 2 main reasons why you go there (the other being food). My husband and I both thought the food was great. Everything we tried was delicious. We loved every dish we tried. (We're foodies who frequently dine at more upscale restaurants). As for people dinging stars because the food is "overpriced," if you don't normally frequent an upscale restaurant, you might find it "overpriced." However, we thought the price of the food was in line with comparable restaurants from where we come from (Northern CA) and the comps didn't have the amazing views that 'Ama 'Ama boasts. Try to remember when you're dining at a restaurant such as this, you're not paying "just" for the food ("I don't think the steak was worth xx amount.. blah blah"). You're also paying for the facilities, the VIEW, the server to serve you, the chef to cook for you, the readiness of 20 different menu items to be prepared at will for you, and the experience and luxury of getting to dine at a restaurant not many in this world will ever experience. There's a whole lot more that goes into running a restaurant than pricing a steak at cost or a price comparable to Outback. Back to 'Ama 'Ama, we loved it and cannot wait to return on another trip to Aulani!

Great view. Unique decor. Very clean. Adequate service. Way over priced. The food sounds special, but it ends up just being hotel quality ; ( If you want great food, hit Monkeypod or Roy's across the way. Seems like similar pricing but the food is legit. Here you are paying for convenience (if you are a guest of the hotel) and the view.

Breakfast overlooking a beautiful lagoon in Oahu? Yeah that sucks right? 4 stars is merited for the following. Stupid amazingly gorgeous location. Exceptionally well trained staff, good quality food. I had the eggs Benedict that came with sirloin. I was thinking ok sirloin is not the most tender cut but maybe they serve pre cut strips but that didn't happen. The dish came with a rather formidable serving of steak which is usually a good thing. Not so much here due the amount of chewing needed to deal with this. My suggestion would be to break that bad boy down a bit for the guests if they intend to run with that. Other than that everything else was great! It's really kind of cool to just walk around after your meal and check out the hotel and pools of which one is a snorkeling pool stocked with beautiful local reef fish with a viewing area to just take in the fish should you not want to dive in. Of course being a Disney hotel it's perfect for the family.

The fiancee & I dined at 'Ama 'Ama once for dinner and twice for breakfast during our last stay at Aulani; breakfast & dinner on our second day, and breakfast on our last day. Needless to say, this is going to be a LONG REVIEW. I give you props for reading it if you do! Ok, so the restaurant itself has a rustic look and feel. A few interesting features of the restaurant are the blown glass fish and the glass fishing buoy. The view from the restaurant is pretty good as well, as it overlooks Ko'olina Lagoon 1, but very few seats actually have any view at all. We had a seat with a view only during breakfast on our last day. Unfortunately, there was also a very unpleasant Clorox smell in the restaurant during 2 of our 3 visits. Service at 'Ama 'Ama is pretty good, if not a bit slow. For dinner, we arrived a few minutes early, but the person at the host stand was unable to assist us and we had to wait 5 minutes to be assisted, only to be told our table wouldn't be ready for another 10 minutes. During our first breakfast, the check-in experience was similar, though the waits weren't as long. Our second breakfast went much smoother and we did not wait at all. For all 3 reservations, it should be noted, that we did have reservations. Actual service during our meals at 'Ama 'Ama also saw similar difficulties. We saw our waiter only to order, while serving our drinks & food, and for the bill. Even at that, it was around 5-10 minutes before we even saw him for the first time. Dinner was similar, though our waiter was a little faster and more attentive. Our second breakfast was a strong contrast to our other two experiences, as we received very prompt, friendly service. All our waiters were actually friendly, though our last one for our final breakfast was by far the best! To be fair, though, it seems as if the restaurant was severely understaffed and the waiters were scrambling around A LOT. Disney should really work on their staffing levels. this is not the type of service you'd expect from a high-end Disney establishment of any type. So how was he food? Well, it depends what you ordered. Overall, breakfast was good. 'Ama 'Ama is definitely your best choice for breakfast at Aulani, though the menu is very limited! For our first breakfast, I ordered the poached eggs & corned beef hash with fried rice, while the fiancee ordered the bagel & lox. The eggs were cooked very well, as was the fried rice and hash. The fried rice was actually surprisingly tasty. I'm glad the eggs were poached, however, as the hash and rice were both quite greasy. The has could have used more potato too, but that's minor. The fiancee's bagel & lox were also quite good, with a sizable amount of lox. We both ordered POGs for our drinks. The POG here does not taste like the standard Haleakala Dairy product, though they do sell it at Kalepa's. For our second breakfast, I ordered the two eggs, Portuguese sausage, and Aulani potatoes dish, while the fiancee ordered the chocolate milk-dipped haupia french toast stuffed with bananas & peanut butter (and more chocolate). My dish was fairly standard, though the Aulani potatoes were tasty and the eggs were perfectly cooked. The Portuguese sausage were also good, but didn't taste like the stuff us locals are used to. It had a little bit of a black pepper flavor. The fiancee loved her french toast, which was more like dessert. Unfortunately I was not able to try her dish, as I am allergic to peanuts. The portion size was also a little small. I'd order a side if you're going to order this dish. Ok, so onto the main event, dinner! The late (and dearly missed) John Heckathorn summarized dinner service the best: "[e]xpensive hotel food, nothing bad, nothing that made church bells ring and fireworks go off. Safe food," (Honolulu Magazine, December 2011). John was right. The favorite parts of my meal were my appetizer & dessert, though the fiancee fared better and ended up liking her entire meal. Ok, so what did we order? I ordered the Kalua Pig Rillettes with Manchego Cheese Croquettes, Serrano Ham, and Romesco Sauce; the Whole Salt-crusted Island Sustainable Catch (Opakapaka that night) served with seasonal Vegetables and a Limu, Tomato, and Maui Onion Vinaigrette; and the Hawaiian Chocolate Cake with Kau Coffee Cream and Caramel Chard. The fiancee ordered the Crispy Curried Chicken Firecracker with Mango Gastrique; the Seared Ahi Tuna and Shrimp, Kamuela Tomatoes, Basil, and Niçoise Olives garnished with Eggplant Caviar; and the Coconut Panna Cotta with chilled Passion Fruit Broth and Green Tea Tuile. This review is getting too long, so I'm going to end it here. Would we go back? Yes, but I would love to see Disney make improvements.

Stayed at Aulani for three days. I ordered the Khalua pulled pork sandwiches for lunch. I received three of them on a platter. The first one was awesome, the second one was great up until I felt a piece of plastic in my mouth. It was a huge piece if plastic wrapper of some sort. They did not comp me for the meal or even offer. They just replaced it. 18% gratuity is already included with check BTW. A little disappointing Disney.

Nestled right up the beach at the Aulani resort, you really can't ask for a better location. We decided to pick this restaurant for an early dinner on the 3rd day of our stay, and we were able to get a great view of the sun setting while a wedding was happening below. I had the rib eye steak which was cooked to perfection. I like my steaks medium and it almost always comes out medium rare. I was pleasantly surprised to find out that it was a solid pink in the middle. The dessert was the best part, as a dessert sampler for the hopelessly indecisive hit the right note at the end of the meal. It was all served with a Disney flourish that you pay the bucks for, but it doesn't seem that bad, at least until you get the statement at the end of the billing cycle. The service was excellent, which is to be expected. I think all the employees here realize they have plum positions, and they work hard at maintaining service quality. No wait seemed too long and no moment seemed too rushed. Gotta earn that cheddar so I can come back.

It's the nicest restaurant in Aulani. Twice for breakfast and twice for dinner during our stay. Bloody Mary was spicy and flavorful. I think breakfasts and dinner was ok. Not many spectacular dishes. Menu didn't change the week we were here. Expensive for average ok food. Example, $45 for monchong with saffron rice. Rice was literally 4 spoonfuls. Fish was a bit bland as well. En papillote seafood Thai curry was best. Server had trouble opening the parchment because it was so small. Usually it is a lot bigger and you just poke a hole on top. I didn't want to show off my culinary knowledge but I told her its not her fault it was so hard to open. She was like "oh you had this before", I just said yes but in my head I wanted to say "no I've made this many times". Excellent superb service putting the overall rating back to 4 stars. If this restaurant was in SF, 2 stars for sure. Being perfect hawaii, I can't complain.

Such a great lunch experience here! Me and my husband were seated right in front of the lagoon, such a gorgeous view! Service: Owen was our server and he is such an unforgettable person. We loved him, he just made us feel so awesome with his attentive service and really made us feel that aloha spirit just like his ohana. You definitely got us thinking on moving to the beautiful state Hawaii, Owen! Price: I got fish tacos that were about $10-15, a bit pricey but it was sooooo good! My hubby got the carbonara for about $20 but it was so worth it, best carbonara ever! And I have eaten carbonara everywhere. Food: very delicious! the fish in my tacos were perfectly cooked with a perfect amount of salsa and the yummy mayo. The carbonara was so breath-taking: al dente thick noodles with that satisfying snap and creamy tasty sauce full of flavor with that delicious bacon. Just wish we had room for dessert.

Food was very overpriced for the quality and selection. I enjoyed the onion soup and my wife also enjoyed the tomato bisque. Entrees were nothing to write home about. View was very nice and the staff was helpful and attentive. Restaurant was fairly empty yet the food took a very long time to arrive. Made four reservations on my trip for this restaurants and I made them 6 months in advance for fear of not getting in. I ended up canceling two of them, we ended up having one for breakfast and one for dinner. Breakfast was much better, we tried a very interesting coconut shrimp eggs Benedict which was pretty good.

**DINNER REVIEW** It's always tough reading reviews for restaurants that serve breakfast, lunch and dinner. Especially in a resort and especially in a resort that is new and going to have some growing pains. My wife and I were staying at the Aulani for a few nights and wanted to really give this place a fair shake. We read the reviews, were skeptical yet cautiously optimistic. First off, service was amazing. Our waitress was attentive, funny and gracious throughout the entire course of our meal. We brought our own bottle of wine here and they didn't even charge us corkage, this was an amazing value and if I could award a 6th star I would. For starters we shared the Shaved Serrano Ham Flatbread topped with Niçoise Olives, Manchego Cheese, Maui Onion with Roasted Garlic and Red Chimichurri Sauce. Quite a mouthful to say but it was really delicious. The perfect start to our meal. 4/5 stars. The real winners were the dinner entrees though, each of our dishes were perfectly cooked, seasoned and flavored. My wife enjoyed the Island Seafood Thai Curry served with Japanese Eggplant and Choi Sum baked in a delicate Pastry Pouch, and served with Jasmine Rice. I feasted on the Colorado Rack of Lamb, Roasted Root Vegetables, Potato Gratin, and Tamarind Barbeque Sauce. My wife said the Seafood Thai Curry was out of this world, it had a lemongrass flavored curry which was lighter than regular curries. We like to use the word "Stew-oup" to describe the consistency, somewhere between a soup and a stew. It was delicious, we practically drank the broth after running out of rice and bread to soak it up with. The lamb was cooked perfectly and the flavors were absolutely present with the gamey lamb flavors, the grill flavors and the delicious fattiness that Colorado lamb provides. Truly this place is deserving of more praise, if you skipped this establishment because you went for breakfast or lunch please, please come and give dinner a try.

Being the Disney fan I am, I wanted to see Aulani when I went to Hawaii for my first trip, even though I wasn't staying there. Apparently, you get complimentary parking for one hour, and then the clock starts ticking towards the maximum ticket price. Purchases at the gift shop on site doesn't give you any additional comped parking time. However, eating at one of the locations gives you 3-4 additional hours, so we opted to enjoy a meal at the resort to avoid paying a lot for parking. Came here since they were one of the few still open around 3 pm. Server was nice to get us a table by the shore and to help take pictures for us. We ordered the pulled pork sandwich in steamed buns and kahuku corn chowder with taro and salmon. The soup was extremely delicious and filling. The taro and salmon complimented the soup very well. The pulled pork sandwich was good but portion-wise came a bit small for the price. Place is great for the view, but the food is just A-OK. Still waiting for more Disney magic to be infused in the visit.

This review is for their breakfast. this is a 3.5 star (alas, help does not allow for .5 stars) My girlfriends and I came to Aulani for a spa day and decided to forego the character breakfast in places of something a little more adult. Btw, if you go for the character breakfast, et the a la carte menu...the buffet is not worth it. We settled on the breakfast at AMA AMA. We were a little early but they seated us right away. We had a nice table, right by the drop off so our view was unobstructed. The server was attentive and pleasant and took our orders right away. We started with pineapple mimosas which were yummy but on pricier side $10. Breakfast plates were massive and we definitely could have shared some of the plates. Food was delicious but definitely overpriced. It is Disney, though, after all!

For Father's Day we happened to be in the area and decided to stop for breakfast. Everything on the menu was delicious and generously portioned, and actually priced like most Waikiki restaurants, if not a touch higher. But what do you expect for a resort restaurant people? Had their special of the day - duck eggs benedict. Duck wasn't anything special. Seemed a little dry if anything. With Aulani potatoes. My cousins had the corned beef hash with fried rice - excellent! BUT BUT BUT the poached eggs looked pre made and were rubbery by the time it got to the table. My uncle had the fish breakfast plate. The opa of the day was cooked well. Nothing special. My aunt had the Japanese breakfast with salmon. Delicious and perfect for a lighter breakfast meal. Mango iced tea has free refills and was alright. POG is NOT free refills. Service was great! Couldn't complain and had a nice view.

The Aulani (Disney) based establishment has made good progress improving their meal selections, service and quantities offered. We were extremely fortunate to have a table with a direct view of the sunset on the horizon and a wedding within 100 feet of our table, with the latter offering a few awkward moments as the waiter "announced" to my bride and I what the day's specials were ... which was of a volume that could be easily understood by the entire bridal party, but I digress. The visual presentation of all dishes was impressive but the flavors were of the "average" category. We indulged in a seafood appetizer which turned out to be a chilled dish, primarily from the US Northwest - nothing local. The chef's interpretation of Cioppino was just "okay" which could be explained by the lack of fresh/local ingredients. The dessert offerings were remarkable and worth a taste or two. Forget the French press coffee unless you enjoy a cup of coffee that requires a knife & fork and tastes of cigarettes. For those with a Ko'Olina Beach Club membership, arrive after 8 P.M. to enjoy the discount.

My husband and I came for breakfast and it was great. There was a bit of a wait, which seemed weird since it didn't appear to be too busy. It was worth the wait though. We both started with Bloody Marys, extra spicy, and they were delicious. I was torn between two choices: the Loco Moco and their breakfast burrito. I always love to get the Loco Moco when I am in Hawaii, but the burrito just sounded so good so I asked the waiter his opinion. I love his honesty. He said he believes all the food is great, but in his opinion he thought I may like the burrito better. Well, I don't know if it was better since I didn't try the Loco Moco, but omg the burrito was delicious!! I couldn't believe the portion size. It was huge!! I couldn't finish it. On top of that, the service was great from our waiter. He was so attentive, constantly refilling our waters, checking up on us and thanking us many times. When we come back to that part of the island we will definitely dine here again for breakfast. Oh, and the view was AMAZING!!

View: amazing, dinner menu: there is *not* something for everyone here, food: good but doesn't taste like a $100 meal. Overall left feeling it is a bit overrated.

Dinner was good, but it lacked the wow factor I would expect for the price. I had the 45$ steak and fingerling potatoes... it was just sort of so-so. Also, I went for lunch, and the service was terribly slow, and in the hour it took us to get our meal we didnt get refills once on our water. Also, we were waiting around for 25 minutes for the check when we finished. Food was good but the service was slow and food overpriced.

I've never been compelled enough to write a review but that's all changed! We had such a fantastic time at AMA AMA during our family vacation and we owe our thanks to Chef Kevin and our great server, Theresa! Our boys have terrible food allergies (gluten, egg, nuts) and we were impressed with the care and attention Chef Kevin took to go above and beyond in creating a yummy dining experience for our kids - even a personalized dessert plate with gluten free, egg free, and nut free brownie, cookies, and sorbet! Thank you for the delicious meal and superb service...it really made a great memory for us!

AWFUL AWFUL.... Overpriced, over salted, and over sauced. $77.00 for lunch for 4 people no drinks (even sodas), no appetizers, and no desserts !!!. Kalua pig sliders were way too salty. Burger was dry and overwhelmed by the carmelized onions and swimming in balsamic vinegar. The view deserved the one star. All other reviewers must be employees.

Easily the best meals my husband and I had in Hawaii. We initially stayed in Hawaii for 10 days on our Honeymoon and spent the entire time at the Aulani. We were kind of skeptical since the other restaurants were nothing special within the resort and the menu seemed pricey. Our first experience there was for dinner. Complimentary bread and Hawaiian dipping salts were a nice way to start. We ordered the set menu for two. This included a mixed starter platter which included some amazing ribs that fell off the bone. The main was the Rib Eye for two. Both courses were delicious, and plentiful. Dessert, you cannot skip it because it comes with the set menu, and you wouldn't want to! The chocolate cake with gold leaf detail came to us beautifully presented and tasted amazing. It was the best dessert either of us have had anywhere, even beat Napa Rose chefs counter! Order it if you like chocolate you wont be disappointed! My only complaint is I had to share it with my husband and didn't get one of my own. Another favourite was the Seafood Thai Curry. Fragrant, refreshing curry with an array of seafood (a vegetarian option of the same curry would be an excellent addition to their menu). The rack of lamb was also wonderful, but for value for money you can't beat the set menu dinner for two. We also discovered breakfast there way too late during our stay. The burrito which needs to go on the menu permanently was excellent value and quality. The other breakfast items were all reasonably priced between $7-$20. The Kona pressed coffee was the best coffee we'd had anywhere in Hawaii. I highly recommend going there just before sunset for dinner, or breakfast for their reasonably priced menu. The only negative which was negligible was the waitstaff, a little too in your face or too nonchalant at times. This didn't detract from everything else though, it's just a minor criticism I'd fix if it were my establishment and wanted consistent 5 star ratings. The views from our tables on each visit were stunning. If I could have dinner there tonight, I would in a heartbeat.

Went to 'Ama 'Ama for breakfast on our second day in Ko Olina. The breakfast burrito and the macadamia nut pancakes were wonderful but they only had one server working multiple tables (and she was very chatty) so the wait for hot coffee was long. They may be better staffed at lunch or dinner.

An enjoyable dinner for our last night in Hawaii. Our server Rod was great. The environment was beautiful. We were seated in the middle of the restaurant so we didn't have the up close view of the ocean but still had a view. Live music was playing from a small lounge a few feet away. The food was great, took a while but worth the wait. Sea food appetizer soo good. We really enjoyed the poke and ceviche. Definitely a great place for a date night.

The food is decent, service is decent, it's clean, it's what you'd expect from any restaurant on a Disney property. It's weird that they close between breakfast & lunch, really inconvenient actually. The view and open air paradise is what this place is about. Gorgeous. Get a cocktail and take it all in... It's hard to take yourself too seriously when all you want is for them to bring you out a chaise lounge. You don't have to be a guest of Aulani to enjoy this and the beach at the lagoons.

We came here two days ago for my boyfriend's parents surprise anniversary dinner. Since we came here a month ago for my birthday and liked it so much we decided to take them here. It is also their first time in Hawaii. Anywhoo anything Disney I'm in because if you ask my boyfriend, I'm a Disney Nerd! I was excited to just be walking around who cares about eating! Just kidding I care. We had a 6pm reservation and got seated right away. The ladies greeted us and told his parents "Happy Anniversary" which made them feel really special. We sat down and of course loved and took in the view of Ko'olina's lagoon and gorgeous tall palm trees. Our waiter was professional, knowledgable about the menu, and was nice. My boyfriend and I ordered the 'Ama 'Ama special dinner for two and so did his parents. We got a chefs appetizer, bone in ribeye for two with red wine sauce, and a chocolate cake for dessert. We also ordered the Maui onion soup and Lilikoi Mojito. First off the Lilikoi Mojito was wonderful because it was gone really quick! Next, the Maui onion soup was divine! I'm talking hot soup, not onion overpowering, and lots of melting cheese! Yummy! For the chefs appetizer it was like a surprise we don't know what we got but we sure did love it! It had ahi poke with nori, some fried shrimp, some sort of bread topped with a thinly piece of prosciutto I think, and some big ribs topped with a delicious hoisin sauce. Broke da mouth. We were ready to past out after the appetizers and yummy house bread but we still had the entree and dessert still. The waiters came along beside our table with a big platter of bone in rib eye cut up. They served it over some hamakua mushrooms, brocollini, and puréed mashed potatoes. Oh my talk about kanack attack halfway through that. Dessert came out assuming its just a plain ol chocolate cake like it says. Nope, wrong! Chocolate cake mousse with chocolate sauce oozing out topped off with a toffee nut brittle crunch with coffee jello pieces on the side and a scoop of vanilla bean ice cream on the side. Don't food coma for days! Overall experience was way better than the first visit and the food didn't disappoint. Overpriced fancy special occasion type of place but worth every penny because of its atmosphere, the fantastic views, and of course it's Disney!

We've had good luck at the Aulani before: the Character Breakfast not only has good food, but is a good value. 'Ama 'Ama was neither. I had the lamb, which was under-seasoned and served with a barbecue sauce that completely covered up the subtleties that make lamb delicious. If you avoided the sauce, you were left with an un-trimmed, under-seasoned meat. My wife had the monchong, which was overly salty and very unappealing in its presentation. It was covered in a white foam, which looked sickly on a white fish. My son got the ravioli, which by itself was alright, but was not in a marinara sauce, but straight tomato sauce. It was hard for my son to palate and I couldn't eat it either. On the plus side, our server was nice and the drinks were good, but I would much rather go to Roy's, spend less money, and get better food.

We stayed at Aulani so this restaurant is inside the resort. Had breakfast, lunch and dinner here. Beautiful setting with ocean / beach facing. Dinnner was the best food combination. We had all appetizers as enetres didn't appeal that much when we had lunch the previous day.

We had a nice weekend at Aulani and decided to eat at Ama Ama since we were given some credit due to construction within the resort. We heard reviews about Ama Ama and avoided it as a result but since we had the credit we figured why not. We had the snapper, rib eye steak for two and a child's meal. The portions were pretty good which was an issue for many when Ama Ama first opened. * Snapper- not much flavor but nice portion * Rib eye steak- the appetizer was pretty good, especially the pork ribs which were meaty. The ahi poke was not so good because they were trying something with it by adding lime! Very small portion of that. The steak was very tender and very delicious. The desert was pretty good as well and the ice cream helped with the richness of the chocolate. * Child's meal- our daughter is 9 and very petite and if she didn't eat the appetizers we would have had to buy her another meal. Very small portion Like Kevin S. wrote for the price, EVEN with the credit, we would hands down go to Roy's across the street. I don't think it's worth the price you pay. We have never paid that much at Roy's including when we ordered appetizers off the menu. I would say the difference is about $50. My suggestion is to expand the menu and stretch the courses out for this type of pricing. The flavors and choices don't fit the bill.

My husband and I went here for our Valentines dinner the day after Valentines. We went at the perfect timing to see the sunset and we had the best table in the house right next to the water fixture. I would say that is the best/only time to go their. The food was ok, but its really pricey and small portions. The servers are really nice and can answer all of your questions. I was expecting it to be a little bit more fancy for the price point it was at but it was fairly relaxed. The one real bummer was no cheesecake on the dessert menu. I thought most fancy places have cheese cake! Best thing about the places, the view at sunset. Everything else is pretty mediocre.

Wow! What a wonderful place! Picture the perfect open air ocean view restaurant for a romantic sunset dinner in Hawaii. 'Ama'Ama is also the home of the best Grilled Vegetable Sandwich in the world. This was our first chance to see Aulani since it opened in August 2011. Turned out to be a great lunch and to get right to the point, I'm giving 'Ama 'Ama 4 stars based on our enjoyable lunch experience with first class service. However it could have been a much different experience. Here is the story. Reservations: I made the reservation on line thru Disney's Aulani website. Very easy to use and you know right away if your preferred time is or is not available. Then you can check alternate times and alternate restaurants. I personally prefer this to talking to someone on the phone. I noticed that seating reservation times are staggered. The purpose of this is to prevent a waitress from having all four of her tables seated nearly simultaneously. This allows the waitress to be able to spend more quality time with each table. I think the system works. Reservation system: 5 stars Service: It is clear that Disney has put a lot of thought into it's food service at the Aulani Resort and they have trained the staff well. Menus, drinks and food served from the right side and removed from the left side. Napkin unfolded and properly placed if the customer has not already done so. The daily specials are carefully and calmly explained. Questions are answered fully. Everyone has an easy smile, an un-rushed attitude and a willingness to stop and chat. These are real Hawaiian qualities. There was a pleasant absence of gratuitous Hawaiian words or any other sort of phony tourist nonsense detected. The pacing and timing of the meal were perfectly coordinated. I was very pleased. 5 stars for Lokelani our waitress. Drinks: We did't try any alcohol drinks since we are not big drinkers. My daughter chose a lilikoi Wailua soft drink in a bottle. She liked it a lot. My wife and I tried the flavored teas. There are 3 choices and they come unsweetened. You then add sugar or sweetener to your taste. I prefer tea unsweetened so I was happy with my peach green tea. 4 stars here Food: We tried an appetizer of Nori wrapped Ahi which was dipped in tempura batter and flash deep fried.( yelp.com/biz_photos/MDx6… ) Very high quality Ahi with pickled vegetables and soy mustard dip. It was good but it's not what I'm going to remember from the meal. My daughter ordered the Sirloin Beef Burger with Sweet potato fries. Extra nice flavor due the high quality ground beef. But. lets be honest, just between us...its a $16 hamburger and fries...nuff said. 3 stars My wife ordered the daily "Local" special as recited by the server. BBQ Boneless Rib Meat, Kimchee, Lup Cheong Fried Rice, Pancit and salad @ $16. This was a huge meal with lots of meat. I would say it was an excellent package that most "locals" would appreciate. Good value. 5 stars on this one!!( yelp.com/biz_photos/MDx6… ) Finally, I had ordered the Grilled Vegetable Sandwich @ $12. Being a vegetarian and having eaten my weight several times over in Meatless Sandwiches, I can say confidently that this is the best Grilled Vegetable Sandwich on the planet earth. Big thick slices of mushroom, eggplant, onions, carrots and avocado with aioli sauce. 5 big stars on this one ( yelp.com/biz_photos/MDx6… ) Dessert: At $10 each we weren't too excited for desserts. My daughter wanted to try the Hawaiian Chocolate Cake. Liquid chocolate pours out onto the plate as you eat it. The cake itself is more like pudding. ( yelp.com/biz_photos/MDx6… ) It was a nice combination of flavors and textures. Only downside was the small quantity. Near Miss: This review came close to being a 2 star fiasco. One of the recited "sustainable" seafood specials was a Seafood Paella. Since it sounded so good I almost ordered it even though it was $24. Interestingly, the table next to us had ordered first and received their food before us. Remember the staggered reservations. When our neighbor's Paella arrived, I thought to myself "OMG". The portion was so tiny I was amazed. The Paella came on a large round 12" plate.See the photo yelp.com/biz_photos/MDx6… I strongly recommend 'Ama 'Ama for lunch. Check out the buffet Makahiki Restaurant. I'll try that next when I'm feeling rich. 'Ama 'Ama for lunch is a solid 4 stars. Here is the deal: There is no Kamaaina discount. Room rates are $400+ per night. If you are not checked into the hotel you must do valet parking and collect $35 in receipts to present to the valet desk to get free valet parking. You have 3 to 4 hrs to look around the hotel or dine etc. Access is restricted otherwis

A decent effort but ultimately, it's high end theme park food with prices to match. Open air seaside (lagoon) location makes for a comfortable resort ambiance. Thankfully its toned down from the rest of the garish hotel that would be more at home in Vegas than Hawaii. (Can you tell I don't like the hotel's appearance)? Lunch: Good selection of soups, sandwiches, and salads that use locally sourced ingredients. Opted to try the crab and lobster roll with wasabi mayo. The sweet lobster was cooked perfectly and the TINY sandwich was refreshing. The accompanying salad was extremely fresh but overall the dish was not memorable. Dinner: In general, the food is properly cooked but not as flavorful as it could be. The Kahuku corn chowder needs more corn flavor but works surprising well with the lomi salmon. The kalua pig rillette is OK. The smokiness brought out great flavors in the manchego cheese croquettes. Finally, the Keahole lobster was perfectly cooked but the unusual lemongrass sauce obscured the lobsters delicate flavor. To the restaurants credit, presentation is animated and colorful. The food looks really good. Service is good but the performance of the servers seems forced. It should improve with time. The servers are friendly. The wines by the glass offerings are good and prices are in line with other top Hawaii resorts ($10-$25 a glass). The overall wine list is OK. Again, Hawaii resort pricing (2x-3x retail). Note: VALIDATE YOUR PARKING.

Amazing dinner: I had the Thai seafood curry and my husband had the pasta. We both really enjoyed our meals. The only reason I would give it 4 stars is for the weak kids meal (we ordered pizza for my son and it was the same microwaved pizza from the poolside menu). Dessert was nothing to write home about either. I was expecting more from the chocolate molten cake. Service was good though and pretty quick!

We did not stay at the resort but dined here for lunch. My only complaint was they seated us on the side of where they were doing some heavy construction when the other side (away from the noise) was completely empty. We started with an appetizer seared tuna and main course of fish tacos with sweet potato fries. All of the fare was good as well as the service. It is pricey but so is Disney.

'Ama 'Ama exceeded my expectation of typical resort restaurants. Every table has a clear head of the table chair or "man chair" as my husband called it. Pretty neat touch. The menu has variety and something for everyone. Even the keiki menu offers a 2 course meal and is worth the $13 price tag. We started with the Tuna Poke appetizer. It was pretty delicious and it's not as small a portion as it looks. For entrees, husband ordered the Opakapaka over Fricasee of Lobster, corn, artichoke with Lemongrass Sauce; I got the Beef Filet with Short Rib Croquette. Both were amazing but I have to say the filet was the better of the two. It was cooked perfectly and melted in my mouth. The croquette, though, was the highlight of the meal for both my husband and myself. No words can really explain the little fried piece of heaven that was on my plate. Dessert was ok. We went for the chocolate cake. It wasn't really a chocolate cake but more of a mousse with a thin layer of cake on top of a wafer bottom. Reminded me of a Kit Kat bar. Service was mediocre. Our server forgot a few things and misheard some orders but his personality won me over and that was his saving grace. It's pricey and worth it. On the upside, we didn't spend nearly as much as we anticipated.

Where do I start? We were seated at the edge of the patio. The view was breath taking at dinner time and sunset. The server was nice and knew the menu and what each dish contained. The bread was warm and soft. As if they just came out of the oven. We ordered the crispy Singaporean shrimp appetizer. This was delicious and the shrimp cooked perfectly. Main dishes were the filet of beef with braised short rib, pork chops and the strip loin. All three were cooked as ordered and were tasty. Dessert was the sorbet. Just the right amount to cleanse the taste bids. Prices were about on par with other high end restaurants. $170 for three.

This is my second review for Ama Ama and still the quality of food and service is impeccable. I came for breakfast this time and we got an excellent spot looking out right onto the lagoon. We had the Egg White Salmon and Herb Cream Cheese Omelette and the Chocolate Dipped Haupia Bread French Toast. The French toast was delicious it came with three different dipping sauces and it was stuffed with banana and peanut butter! The waiter we had was very attentive and the food came out shortly after we ordered, I couldn't be happier with this place.

All Aulani Restaurants Reviewed! 1/4 'Ama 'Ama, Hawaiian for the smaller mullet, is a covered, open air fine-dining restaurant at Aulani Disney Resort. This review is pretty much for lunch and not dinner. During lunch time, this place is packed. We waited about 40 minutes to before we got seated. When we finally got seated, we had one of the best seats in the house. A perimeter table of two, that overlooked out to the Kolola Lagoon. The view was quite amazing. While we were waiting for our tables, we got a few suggestions for lunch selections from the bartenders at Off the Hook. They suggested we try the Catch of the Day Tacos and the Kalua Pork in Chinese buns. We ordered immediately and the service was prompt and fast. Our waitress made sure we had everything we need and were very friendly. The Kalua Pork in Chinese buns were excellent. They come with a side of fries or salad. We opted in getting sweet potato fries. There were 3 buns and each of the buns had Kalua pork inside, one was topped with lomi lomi salmon, the other with kim chee, and the last with pickled onions. The fries weren't anything extraordinary, but the buns were fresh, Kalua pork was good and the toppings added a nice touch. Coming from a family whose father can make great Peking Duck buns, I was impressed by 'Ama 'Ama's quality. The Catch of the Day Tacos were amazing! Excellent wasn't even enough to describe how good it was. Our fish was salmon and it was just perfectly moist and juicy when you bite into it. This is the best fish taco I've ever had period. The thing I had to note is that some people say it is too expensive. The prices at 'Ama 'Ama is comparable to some places in Waikiki. The fish tacos were 19 and the kalua pork in buns were 14. It's not terribly expensive, but it's cheaper than what I expected after reading the reviews. Lunch is normally packed on the weekends, but from what I noticed, they are not too busy during dinner time.

6/31 Overall a 3.5 for food. Ive been wanting to come to the Aulani so I finally got a chance to go when our family friends invited us to join them since they were have a stay-cation over there. We came at 830 and it was a good thing they made a reservation because the place was pretty busy. They bring over complimentary bread with salted and unsalted butter along with hawaiian salt and black salt. The bread was okay but I enjoyed the choice of salt. I ordered the seafood paella and it was pretty good. I also ordered their lilikoi mojito which was really tasty. I also shared dessert of the chocolate lava cake with vanilla ice cream and that was good but just a bit too rich and chocolaty for my taste. I def loved the atmosphere of the restarant being that its outdoors. The service was pretty good as well. Overall, I wouldnt mind coming again.

I was staying at the Marriot next door and decided to come over for a nice sunset dinner. First of all, for those who fear this place will be "overtly disney" , fear not! Yes you can get a hint of disney "perfection" in the property, but it is not like disneyland...in fact I could barely tell there was anything disney about it. Ama Ama was a great meal...probably one of the best I had in Hawaii. The setting is right on the water, and the decor is very disney hawaii...by this I mean..it had a hawaiian feel (we sat on the patio under this fisher-man tent) but is VERY kept up and pristine. For dinner I ordered the raw platter to start (yummy and perfect for 2) and then had their fish of the day (which I cannot recall off the top of my head). The service was, in perfect disney fashion, spectacular. On my next stay in Ko Olina, I will be back to Ama Ama.

Aweful! I've lived all over U.S. and this was most likely one of the worst restaurants my palate has ever sampled. The food was cold and the sauce with my fish was nothing more than Ragu. My husbands biryhday was ruined! The entire meal, every course was sent back. Even a simple irish coffee they couldn't make. If you know food DO NOT waste your time or money.

This place lacked service in every aspect. The filet was served cold. Lucky for a drink refill. I prepaid for a birthday cake, confirmed with concierge, and they still forgot. We never got the cake to celebrate. Go across the street to Roy's where price and service is much better.

While we had good service and great company, the meal was mediocre at best. My pasta dish was flavorless and Luke warm, as was another's who had the same thing. The snapper was so salty for another, that it seemed to retain the entire ocean. The steak and chop received good reviews, as did the stew. The pricing, however, was terrible. I paid $2.50/shrimp to be added to my bland/ cold pasta, giving it even less flavor. For the pasta and salty snapper, our bill was $100! And we didn't even have cocktails, since there was no offer for one at all. Not that it means anything, but I'm certain "Walt" would not gave been pleased to have his name nor reputation associated with this meal!

Simply Wonderful, 4 stars for the service and 6 for the food. Best pork chop I've ever had and the seafood sampler appetizer was great. Our server goofed up on our drinks a couple times but was apologetic. She was super cute so I couldn't be upset.

Palm trees swaying. A salty sea breeze. Waves gently lapping on the shore. Perfect weather! All real - no Disney magic here! `Ama `Ama is situated in the midst of the perfect backdrop. It didn't hurt that the Northeast was being hit by a snowstorm in the middle of my lovely lunch. I don't think I've ever called any of my lunches lovely, so it must have been invoked by the Disney ambiance. I was pleasantly surprised! A group of 20 lunched here and everyone was pleased with their meals. (btw, 20 is their max for groups) No great WOWs, but no disappointments. Portions were adequate and several took home doggie bags. Staff was also nice enough to prepare a brand new sandwich for one of us when the leftover half sandwich that was supposed to have been wrapped up fell on the floor. The Kalua pulled pork sandwich on Chinese buns ($14) was plentiful - 3 buns with different toppings - lomi tomato, kim chee and pickled onions. Each topping was a nice blend to contrast the kalua pork. The pork was average, but very moist.. I enjoyed my side of deep fried thin sweet potato fries. The Mango Mamaki iced tea was interesting - I could not detect mango at all! Burgers were huge, stacked with 2 fresh local tomato slices, grilled sauteed onions & lettuce. Ketchup, mustard & mayo are all on the side. All desserts were $10 - a little overpriced in my book for the quantity/quality. Presentations were beautiful, though! Don't forget to get your parking validated! You need to spend at least $35 per car to get free validated parking! It was a lovely lunch enhanced by a perfect setting.....I'll be back next time I'm in the mood to remind myself how lucky I am to live in Hawaii.

First of all I should say that we have been Disney Vacation Club members for 15 years and have stayed at every DVC property and eaten at every Disney fine dining restaurant in the US. Excellent view. We ate here for lunch the first day of a nine day stay. Food was very good. However Disney has this priced to benefit them. Service was also good. We will go for dinner one night as well but there are so many good places to eat in Hawaii that it is hard to get over the prices here. We have opted to go off property for most meals due to prices charged. Fresh fish of the day was excellent - I had on tacos and my wife added to her salad. Sweet potato fried were great. Ahi tuna sampler very nice but small portions. Found awesome fresh tuna for half the price in larger quantity the next day nearby. Optimistic they will continue to tweak to get value in line with price.

Celebrated a friend's baby shower here and I was very under impressed. I was looking forward to having lunch here and maybe it was my high expectation that killed it. I was expecting them to deliver amazing food and it just was not the case. The server we had was nice but he became flushed when it came to pay the bill and we had to split the check. I do feel bad for him and he did the best he could for the given situation. But, he did give off an annoyed aura which is not very "Disney". Anywhoo.. to the food. The corn chowder and the sweet potato fries were delicious. My fish tacos were not. It was $20 and I expected it to taste like it. But, I've had fish tacos for $5 that were wayyyy better than that. For dessert I had the bread pudding. It is a dessert I love and they made me rethink it. The only thing I liked it the vanilla ice cream that came with it. Overall, the bread pudding itself was a let down. I probably would not dine her again. If I was invited to another event, then maybe I will. I'll just chose to go with a full stomach and just feast on some drinks.

I was pleasantly surprised with 'AMA 'AMA. Anything Disney always tends to be fantastic in my opinion, but the Yelp reviews had me a little nervous. My sister and I went for lunch around 2PM. The hostess was super sweet and the servers were attentive, 5 stars for service here. We sat right at the front with a perfect view of the beach, I love how the restaurant is open to the outside, very Hawaii. We had the nori-wrapped ahi tuna tempura with pickled vegetables to start which was pretty good..3 out of 5 stars I'd say. My sister had the angus chuck burger with sweet potato fries and I had the chopped salad, the entrees were FANTASTIC! For dessert we split the apple guava tart with li hing cotton candy, not only was this dessert fun to look at but it was absolutely delicious. A starter, 2 entrees, dessert, and a couple iced teas for $60. Not too shabby for a Disney resort in Hawaii, I'd love to go back and see how their dinner service compares.

We had lunch here yesterday. The view is beautiful! Our table over looked the lagoon, and on a bright sunny day it doesn't get any better. I'm sorry to say, the view was kind of the highlight of the meal. I ordered the plate lunch ($21) (changes daily) which came with a salad with miso dressing, misoyaki butterfish and spareribs. I gotta say it was a lot of food. The salad was a large salad, not just a little side salad. It had mixed greens and a dressing. The waiter said it was an Asian style miso dressing but it was a bit tangy, had a kick from chili peppers and was a bit too sweet. It was far from the miso based dressings I'm used to. The spare ribs were good. There was a generous portion. They were nice and tender and had a nice glaze on them. The butterfish was disappointing. It was missing the yummy miso/shoyu glaze. A good misoyaki has a nice caramelized glaze and is well marinated so the flavor has gone through the fish. This one was missing both. I also tried my mom's corn chowder with taro and lomi salmon. I had read reviews on yelp saying this was an excellent dish so I was excited. They puree that corn which I think misses the essence of corn chowder. I think the flavor could be more developed but the crunchy bacon was nice. It needed more lomi salmon as well. We ended with the bread pudding. This was the biggest negative, it is way overpriced! For $10 there is a small amount of bread pudding. The coconut that it is served in is about the size of a tennis ball. The scoop of ice cream was equally small. Overall I was a bit disappointed. I think this would be great for tourist looking for a lunch with a nice view, but I definitely wouldn't recommend it for kamaaina.

We just came to eat dinner (the rooms were too expensive and too far away from everything!), but the service was amazing, the grounds were beautiful, the people were so nice, and the food at the Ama Ama restaurant was delicious! Disney always does a great job treating their guests well, and I would definitely stay in this resort if I had a ton of money to blow! But if you're just visiting Oahu and want to go to the resort for dinner, it's only about a half hour away from Waikiki (as long as you don't hit traffic). If you have time, add it to your itinerary.

We went to 'Ama 'Ama for New Years Eve and it was an excellent experience. It was a bit pricy, but what would you expect at a Disney themed resort restaurant. We had a reservation so the wait was not long at all, maybe three minutes. The hostess was extremely nice and did her job very well. While our waiter was friendly- it was apparent he would rather have been partaking in the festivities, but it did not put a damper on our evening. He was a great server, just was not as upbeat. He did go out of his way to find out additional information regarding Ko Olina's festivities for the night. I and my wife both agree (which does not come very often, BELIEVE ME ;)) that the curry I had ordered was the best we have ever tasted on the island (although we have only tried it at two other locations). It only had a hint of spice and the flavor overall was excellent. I cleaned the plate completely. I did make a joke to the waiter about needing a to go box even though there was not a spot of food left, he didn't catch the joke:). Overall it was a very nice place, great experience. I took one star away for a combination of the price ($120 for 2 and one drink each), the lack of interest by the waiter, and my wife's chicken with gnocchi was not as impressive as the curry. Also, would not recommend the bread pudding. It was okay, not that great. Kevin

We decided to eat here on our first night in Hawaii (since we stayed @ Aulani, we figured it would be the easiest option), and it was definitely an experience! On the ocean with open air seating, we were seated immediately (it was around 8pm). There are 3 seating areas, one to represent the 1890's Hawaii (where we sat), 1940's Hawaii, and at the end, present day Hawaii. The chairs were wicker, but actually comfortable (although I was literally on top of the table behind us, I literally had less than an inch to move- I hope they adjust that). We ordered firecracker chicken ($12), but there wasn't anything cracking about it! I got an Aulani Wave ($13), their specialty cocktail with a glowing cube- not bad for my first drink in HI. I ended up getting a strip for the entree ($43), and it wasn't bad, but- it wasn't seasoned as well to my liking- but I think in defense, they did that to showcase the hickory wood smokikng that went into it. The veggies with the dish were great. Ended up getting a pot of Jetlag AM energizing tea (caffeine usually helps me sleep), that was my dessert. It was a nice experience, and I hope it will continue to only get better as they age. This is the Disney Signature Dining option on the property.

Super amazing, must-try if you're in the area. From the starter fresh bread selection and local salts, the mixed drinks, and the beautifully prepared dishes, it was a total win. Decent selection for vegetarians, which was nice. Husband & I had the corn chowder soup and the Maui onion soup to start, the vegetarian pasta with fresh veggie blend and the rib plate, and some delicious chocolate cake for dessert. Our parents had the 'dinner for two' which had an amazing little variety of appetizers, and the entree was some beef that they both enjoyed profusely, and a dessert. The chocolate dessert cake was delicious and devoured quickly between 4, the perfect finish. The view is stellar, the atmosphere is comfortable and perhaps just a little posh. Service was very attentive and quick, but never made us feel rushed. Only downside is that there were some very noisy children seated next to us towards the end of our dinner. It's a family resort, so kids are a given, but it was a bit of a bummer to have squealing shrieking ~3 year olds adding ambiance.

Before visiting the Aulani Hotel, my local friend advised me to grab a nice lunch to get validated parking during my first hotel visit. Some of the sandwiches are available at their snack bar area, but ,not wanting to search for a place to sit and eat, this is a better choice for a sit-down meal. We were seated at the far left dining area which had a lagoon view. On a Thursday afternoon, the restaurant was only half filled with international tourists. I ordered the local plate lunch ($20.95) which consisted of a chicken Parmesan with cappellini (think angel hair), broccoli, a small salad, and two pesto garlic bread slices ( yelp.com/biz_photos/MDx6… ); the portions were VERY generous as I took half of my meal back to my hotel. My friend ordered the trio of pulled pork sandwiches ( yelp.com/biz_photos/MDx6… ) that came with sweet potato fries ($14.00), which he found interesting and filling; he liked two of the three better than the other. Our servers were efficient in keeping our ice water and my iced tea glasses filled. Can't afford to eat like this everyday, but it's to be expected in a resort environ.

Went with my family and for a Disney restaurant felt the host was very uptight in terms of being understanding of kids being kids. I don't know if that's why we were placed in the middle away from the ambiance but I would have to say the views could've been amazing. It seems we were the only ones in the middle of the dining area with no one else in sight. So I figured with the cost of the meals it could be the food but unfortunately it was the cost of the ambiance the food was not great and I should've gone to Roy's instead. I guess it's the convenience of being close and we wanted to head to movie night

Our family had dinner at Ama Ama about halfway through our January stay at Aulani where we are DVC members. As others have noted, the food is pricey and unexceptional. It all sounds good on the menu, but the cooking itself left much to be desired. I am all about trying different tastes and regional foods, but Ama Ama misses the mark. One can tell that a lot of thought and effort has gone into the menu and the preparation, but the proof is in the pudding, and the tastes here were not something I'd care to return to. I should mention that the kids seemed to like their entrees just fine, and the appetizers were better than the entrees. Still, when you're shelling out $300 for dinner for four, you expect to be wowed, and we weren't. Also, we found it strange that we had to wait to be seated past our reservation time, only to be seated in a not even half-filled restaurant. Very strange. I know the islands are laid back, but having worked in the restaurant biz in NYC, I saw too many indicators at Ama Ama that tell one the restaurant isn't being managed as efficiently as it should be. The setting is wonderful, and the idea is good. Maybe they need a visit from chef Robert Irvine of "Restaurant Impossible" to show them how to reach the potential that is obvious to anyone who has eaten at Ama Ama. That, or cut the prices by 50-60%, reducing patrons' expectations along with their final bills.

We stayed at the Disney Resort on a recent vacation to Hawaii. 'Ama ' Ama is the nicer of the restaurants on the resort so we decided to head there for one of our dinners to give it a try. Dinners range in price from right around $30 to $50 per entree so this is not an inexpensive meal. The menu does seem to change a bit from time to time so those prices may change. The meal started off with a rustic bread. By itself, the bread doesn't add much to the meal, but a nice touch is two different salts from the island are provided to try with the bread. My personal favorite was the black salt, it had a strong punch to it that was great with the bread. The pink salt was considerably milder. I had the seafood paella. For the most part, I really enjoyed it. It had a ton of seafood that included clams, shrimp, a scallop and two pieces of what I believe was Opa (Moon fish). The part that was unfamiliar to me was the inclusion of green olives. I can't say that I've ever seen that before. They added a sour note that I would have preferred wasn't there. It was easy enough to pick around them. My wife had the cider roasted chicken breast. The gnocchi that accompanied it were on the denser side, but were still soft. The sauce on the chicken was along the lines of a sweet bar-b-q sauce. The chicken was a bit overcooked though which made it on the dry side. We luckily saved room for dessert and ordered a couple of different items. We ordered with the banana bread pudding and the lilikoi merignue. Our server was awesome and he brought us out the Hawaiian chocolate cake to try as well. I'll start with my least favorite and end with my most favorite... The lilikoi meringue was beautifully decorated with a sugar coral fan. It was on the small side with two meringue cookies a dollop of ice cream. It was good, but I wouldn't order it again. The Hawaiian cake had a cool chocolate lava center and a hard praline top with a chocolate ring holding it all together. It was a dense and flavorful dessert with rich, dark chocolate flavor in every bite. I would probably order this again. My absolute favorite dessert and favorite part of the meal was the banana bread pudding. Oh. My. Goodness. The bread pudding was perfectly cooked and was still warm at the table. The balance of vanilla ice cream and banana (I think) cream underneath was wonderful. I would have eaten another two orders of it if I had any room left. Overall, it was a nice meal with a fantastic view of the lagoon. The prices were on the high side, but given its location that isn't too surprising. On the mainland, I would think this would be about 30-40% less expensive. Service was fast and friendly. The food was on par with an above average costing restaurant, but not the best I've had. Desserts are well worth the cost and I highly recommend trying a couple. Dinner for 4 people wound up around $225.

If you're in one of the Ko Olina resorts or looking for a quiet sunset, this will do it well. Truly amazing view, great service, and a little sweet music and tiki torches to put fireflies in the air. The food is acceptable, resort quality fare; nothing spectacular, but no great problems either. The kids food was surprisingly crummy (it's Disney after all, so that seems odd), but the rest was totally fine. The real draw here is the view and the atmosphere, which is really is quite great.

As a Disney fanatic I was really excited to eat there for my birthday. The view of the lagoon was awesome and gave you a great view of the sunset. The server was really nice and attentive and explained the menu well. They served cute flower shaped green tea & okra bread which was really good with butter and their Hawaiian sea salts. I had the roasted chicken with gnocchi which was ok but didn't wow me at all (I was slightly disappointed because it was really expensive for nearly $40 and the tiniest portions). With all that extra room for dessert I ordered the lilikoi merengue/sorbet/panda cotta dessert (it was amazing!) but before they brought that out they gave me a special birthday chocolate mousse cake with Mickey sprinkles (It made my day!). A singing duo came around and sang a song to every table (it was a nice touch) and they sang happy birthday 5 times for the 5 people in the restaurant celebrating birthdays. Overall, I really enjoyed dining there but because of the price, I won't be going very often.

My husband and I went there thinking the food would be great since it was a high class restaurant. Unfortunately we were disappointed. The food was overpriced for the quality of the food. Awesome and beautiful setting but don't think we'll go again.

First, I want to say that I have been to Disney World 3 times within 3 years. My family have eaten at some of their best restaurants. The service in Orlando is impeccable and we have never been disappointed, even at their more casual dining places. This place was a huge disappointment, but my expectations may have been too high. As we walked up to the hostess desk, there were 3 people behind the counter discussing some issue. I stood there for about 30 seconds right in front of them about 3 feet from their faces... not one of them acknowledged me. I really, really hate that. It's annoying and rude. Once I am recognized, a hostess named Kyoto took us to our table. I told her I didn't think it would be a good table because when the sun sets, it would be right in our eyes. She said it would be fine. I said again, "I really think the sun will be right in our eyes." She assured me again and that we would be shaded. We sat down thinking she works there everyday, if anyone would know, she would. About halfway through our entrees, the sun starts to shine right into my husband's eyes and we are all now in the sun. Of course, I am extremely irritated. Because the sun was shining in my husband's eyes, he has his sunglasses on and he still could barely see. My head started to shade his eyes and he was able to really look at his chicken... he saw that it wasn't fully cooked. He said he thought it was fully cooked because it was so dry. (I thought that was pretty funny)! Needless to say, we called the manager over. I told him that the hostess should have known better about the table. It was a pretty horrible experience. The manager took the chicken off the bill and we went on our merry way. Good notes... I gave 2 stars because Hoku and Kurt were really nice servers and my children liked their desserts. Again, my expectations may have been too high. I used to want to stay at the Aulani because the Disney resorts in Orlando are so amazing. I think I'll wait until my expectations are low enough so that I don't think it's a waste of money.

Ama Ama has a fantastic view and wonderful atmosphere. We are staying at Aulani and restaurants are slim over here. We started by calling the conceirge to make a reservation for us at Ama Ama. Big mistake she messed up our reservation so when we got there the hostess acted like it was an issue to seat us and we watched as 4 other parties were sat beforeus when they came in with no reservation after us. The hostesses seemed like they were overwhelmed so we figured the place must be at capacity. When we were finally seated there were at least 6 empty tables by us. Our server was nice only problem was he was super slow and took forever to bring our refills and take our order. Im a former server so i give them slack but this guy was just bad. The food was not very good and not many choices. I had the fish of the day and my new husband had the goat cheese ravioli. The prices were crazy high for mediocre fair. Great dining atmosphere and good drinks but get food else where.

Service was 5 stars. The staff was attentive and great with my 3 year old, exactly what I would have expected for a place on a Disney property. The food was extremely bland. It really didn't have a good flavor at all. For the price we paid I expected a much more rich dinning experience. Very disappointed with the food.

I've been here several times when we have friends in town visiting, or just want a good meal after hanging out at the beach. The ambiance is relaxing and "vacation-y," as you have the lagoon right there to look at. Every time I've eaten here the service has been friendly and great, and the food was excellent. I love that they have sweet potato fries! We've always walked in around lunchtime and never had to wait more than 10 minutes for a table. A lot of the negative reviews seem to be from people who are never satisfied anyway, so I tend to not take those too seriously. People seem to complain about the prices and waiting here. It's a resort, so it's resort pricing, but it's one of the few places I don't mind paying a little extra. And, you're in Hawaii, unless you've got somewhere else to be, slow your roll and enjoy the scenery and time with your friends and family, sheesh.

I came here for an early lunch with some family including a fidgety toddler and a pregnant woman after a long morning of sightseeing. They weren't even open yet but they kindly let us sit down at our table with a highchair.* Our view looked right over the lagoon and it was a particularly beautiful cloudless day. They have two sets of menu boards upon entrance to the restaurants and I was looking over them before we sat down. First of all, this place doesn't tote variety as one of their priorities. I guess that's what the Makahiki buffet is for. They have a separate breakfast, lunch, and dinner menu and the restaurant closes for a little bit during each meal time. The menu is only one page long, but what an impressively made menu! It reflected the quality of the meal that was to come. Appetizers start at around $10, entrees range from $12-30, and desserts and cocktails are $10. There's a separate keiki menu where you choose an entree and either an appetizer or a dessert. The keiki ordered 'homemade mac n cheese with peas' that came with either a side of salad, sweet potato fries, or fruit, and the pasta came in a covered ceramic dish on an oblong plate.* I had a really hard time deciding what to order since everything sounded tempting but I did have to keep in mind someone else was paying for the meal, and when I asked the (very great) server a few questions, I ended up going for an appetizer as my meal, not just because the price was a little more friendly but because it really did sound like the best. And probably the fanciest. Kahuku corn chowder with bacon powder, quenelle of lomi lomi salmon and taro tuiles. It was brought out in a 'contemporary-shaped' bowl with the bacon, salmon, and chips set up at the corner of the bowl, then a gravy boat filled with the soup was poured around it for me tableside by my server. My chowder spoon even came on its own plate cushioned by a cloth napkin! This is some pretty luxurious 'casual beach resort' treatment. And it is probably the best soup I've ever had for being a vegetarian one. I'm always surprised when I enjoy so much a meal that happens to be animal-free. It just makes no sense. I also got to try some of my dining companion's char-grilled vegetable sandwich. I was actually only going to take a bite, but after that bite, there was no going back until the whole half sandwich was consumed. The thick slices of eggplant, shitake mushroom, red onion, and red bell pepper were so meaty and plentiful, and the grilled focaccia bread had the perfect amount of oil and crunch to make it satisfying. I snagged some of my husband's sweet potato chips, and they were so addictively delicious that I made him take the rest home so I could eat them. Did I mention that I wasn't even hungry before this lunch? Despite the great quality of the food, service, and location, the only reason why I docked a star was because of minor details that I'm sure will be corrected as the establishment gains some time and experience. I mentioned that they kindly allowed us to seat ourselves before they were open since we had a tired baby and a pregnant woman in our party, but it was only after my asking multiple times, in a firmer tone each time. Then while we were sitting and waiting the 15 mins before they were open, another hostess came by to let us know that they weren't in fact open yet so we cannot expect any service or look at a menu yet, but please do sit down. Look, I did feel bad that I semi-demanded to be seated early while they were closed, but at least the baby wasn't a screaming baby, plus they'd expect to see their service reflected in a generous tip and a good review. Maybe the other hostesses didn't communicate with this one about what was going on? The other thing is a very minor one, but the kids' mac n cheese came with peas. I know some kids like peas and some kids don't, and it was probably there to make the plate look more colorful and attractive, but when it comes to kids it's probably best to err on the side of safety and assume they are the pickiest people alive. I'm sure there'll be tons of moms spending part of their meal picking out all those peas that marred their kid's favorite mac n cheese.

Came here for a quick late lunch around 2:30 pm. We had the Daily Local Plate Lunch and Ama Ama Chopped Salad, which were pretty good. For the kids' menu, the overpriced Mac & Cheese and Cheese Pizza were OK. The kids ate them all up. The view was incredibly stunning. And the service was friendly and helpful.

This review is for the Ama Ama restaurant ALONE. NOT the Disney Resort! In detail: Here goes..... Decided to check out Disney since it was the newest "big" thing in Hawaii. Had NO trouble finding parking. My wife and I went for Monday Lunch. Because the restaurant has "lagoon views", you literally have to walk across the entire resort to get to the back (where the lagoon is). We did not mind at all because we wanted to see the resort anyway. IT WAS BEAUTIFUL! Disney didnt spare a dime in building this place and it shows! We did not make reservations. As soon as we got the host stand, she took my name down and we were seated right away. Id say that the restaurant was about 25-50% full. Our server was quick in greeting our table. Our table overlooked the lagoon. Actually...all the tables did! Must be awesome in the evenings. She explained some specials to us because they were not listed on the menu. I ended up ordering the Opah Fish Tacos($19), and my wife ordered the Lobster and Crab roll ($24)(also a recommendation from the hostess while seating us). For as full as the restaurant was, it took about 25 minutes for the food to come out. It was not hot, but it wasnt cold either! First my dish: They lightly grilled my tortilla to give it a little bit of "crispness" to it, but that was of no use because when they "scooped" the salsa (diced tomatoes) on top of my fish, the cooks did NOT drain it first so there was A LOT of water dumped on my tortillas. So when I lifted the tacos, it literally dripped with water! By the time I got to my second taco, it was all SOGGY! Still edible, but I ended up eating it with a fork. Next, my wifes Lobster and Crab roll was a sandwich but the size of it was EXTREMELY disappointing for the price you pay for it. A costco hotdog actually would look bigger if they were put side by side. It was tiny. Its probably like half the size of a 6 inch at Subway. I would post the pictures of it, but the angle my wife took of it made it look big! For dessert, my wife ordered the Lilikoi Meringue with Caramelized Banana. All desserts are $10. This too I thought was very tiny. I dont like tarty desserts but I tried it. It was alright, but again seemed small for the price you pay for it. The caramelized banana was a 3/4 inch SLICE of banana which they threw some sugar on it, and flamed it. How do people share one SLICE of banana? $60 is a lot to pay for lunch, and it didnt even make me full! Overall: Service- Was GOOD (except for the long wait on the lunch) Decor- AWESOME. Food- Not impressed with it. Expected larger portions for the pirce you pay for a lunch entree. Price- SUCKS! Not cause im cheap, but because there was no value! Will I come back again? Not on my own will. IMPORTANT: Have your ticket validated at the restaurant or the Valet station. You have to PRE-PAY your ticket before you go to the gate. Soooo.... BEFORE you go to your car, there is a machine at the garage entrance that you need to insert your parking ticket. If it was validated correctly, you do not need to pay anything. On our way out, the 3rd car in front of us was at the gate for 5 minutes or more talking to someone on the speaker because she didnt validate her ticket. This was annoying!

This review is for their breakfast. The first time I had breakfast here I had an Acai bowl. (DISGUSTING! Not how an Acai bowl should taste). They did make up for it though, due to my next discovery on the menu. The FRENCH TOAST! The french toast is beyond amazing. It literally melts in your mouth. The flavor is exquisite. It has a side of peanut butter, maple syrup and chocolate. My ultimate favorite dish from here. If you come here it is a must try! And the staff is great! They are kind, friendly, respectful, and full of aloha!

I'll have to say that the food was very good at least two of the three times we've gone there. I'm giving it two stars for how pretentious the staff is and how pricey the food was. Breakfast is reasonable, but the waffles came out first undercooked and then burnt. We would have expected that we would have been comped for not eating them, but was comped for only one. The dinner's are way too expensive. I don't expect huge portions for my meals, but I ordered the chicken breast with gnocchi and vegetables, got 4 gnocchi the size of grapes and two pieces of very small broccoli and the chicken breast for $34.00. We gave feedback, but I left hungry with nothing comped or offered for the extra small operations. And get this, one of the specials is a platter that is e chef's choice. No mention of what that choice is, as if you should just order the overpriced whatever and like it because the chef knows. I've dined at some fabulous restaurants in San Francisco, LA and New York and at less cost and better food than this place. As for the customer service, it was hit and miss, they should take some advice from Willie Deagle. We tried to order some onion soup to go and were turned away because the kitchen was too busy. As one of only two restaurants at the Aulani resort, it is disconcerting that a customer is treated so poorly. Do yourself a favor and try to go off resort and save yourself a good 50% and probably some frustration.

The decoration would worth a score of 5 stars if the food quality can prove a little. The taste in general is on the bland side with heavy use of cream and cheese.

My wife and I ordered a nice bottle of champagne and then ordered the Ama Ama for two. We started off with the chef samplers appetizer. All I can say is wow. Everything on the plate was amazing and in perfect proportions. We then enjoyed a perfectly cooked ribeye steak. The meat just melted in your mouth. Our waitress (merely I think) was attentive and extremely personable. She really gave us 5 star service from a restaurant that is not considered a 5 star restaurant. The food was all full of flavor and you must save room for the Hawaiian chocolate cake. I have no idea how anyone could possibly write a bad review for this place after what we experienced. Thank you.

The Aulani resort is amazing for a quick getaway! It feels like you've left Oahu and gone to an outer island. Eating breakfast at Ama Ama is relaxing and feels like a vacation. Right on the beach, the restaurant captures that resort feel. Gorgeous venue! The banana stuffed french toast with hot chocolate dip, peanut butter, and syrup was DELICIOUS!! The fresh hash was also very good with fried rice. The special yogurt granola crepe was also pretty good. But for something really special, the french toast is the way to go.

I visited the new 'Ama'ama restaurant at Disney's Aulani resort two days after the grand opening. We had a party of 7, including one in a wheelchair and two ladies in their 80's who used walkers. The resort staff was friendly and helpful from the moment we entered the driveway. However, do not try to get in without proof of your reservation, or you will be turned away. No looky loos allowed. Every aspect of the resort is impressive. From the moment we entered the towering structure we were surrounded by Hawai'ian ambiance, from the music coming through the speakers to the carvings and paintings, all done by local artists. Everything is easily handicap accessible. But one word of warning: the walk from the parking garage to the restaurant down by the beach is extremely long. Our octogenarians had to stop and rest several times, and almost didn't make it. If you can't walk a half mile, plan to bring a wheelchair. When we did finally make it to the restaurant, the staff was very gracious in accommodating our group with our various mobility aids. Our waiter, Frank, was beyond friendly and helpful. When asked, he even got the name of the artist who painted the mural in the lobby. He told us a lot about the resort, right down to the decor in the rooms. The restaurant is beachfront and open air. No need to bring a sweater to ward off air conditioning. Now to what you're waiting to hear about: the food. The menu is available online. I recommend you study it beforehand. The food is a bit pricey, starting at $12 for a vegetable sandwich. A Caesar sandwich will set you back $20. Our party of 7 spent $189, including tax and tip. That included 7 entrees, 3 glasses of wine, an ice tea, a coffee, and a sliver of cake for dessert ($10). The chocolate cake, however minute, was delicious. One of our party was celebrating a birthday, and our waiter brought out a birthday bonbon with a candle and Mickey-shaped sprinkles. Every one of us loved our food. I ordered the grilled vegetable sandwich with sweet potato fries. Superb and worth every penny. After your meal, feel free to walk around and take pictures. We met up with Mickey and Stitch on the grounds. Just make sure you spend a total of $35 while you're there so you can get your parking validated. Otherwise it'll run you $35 for parking. Overall, Disney did not disappoint. I look forward to my next meal there.

Breakfast - very fine meal with a amazing view. The eggs, omelets and oatmeal were very good. Had breakfast there twice during our trip and the service was consistently good as was the food. Dinner - drop the children off and auntie's and enjoy a night out just the two of you. Had an early evening dinner reservation and the restaurant was just starting to get busy. Asked for a table with a view of the sunset and were promptly given a fantastic seat outside. A very fine wine list was narrowed down to glasses of Pinot Noir and Merlot and after an extensive review of the dinner menu we opted for the Dinner for Two. We were not disappointed. Chefs appetizer selection was perfect, the prime rib sliced at the table for us excellent and the desert was just right. Service A, Restaurant and Ambiance A+, Meal A. Best meal of our trip.

My husband and I ate here last night while staying at Aulaini. For apps We had an amiami salad- very flavorful and really a meal in itself. but at $18 of an app, would have preferred half the size, half the price. i had a Island salad that again was huge but delicious. We both had steak ( he the filet and I the sirloin). Mine was very dense and chewy, not the best steak. We had desert of choc lava cake - a fairly small portion but utterly delicious. Our server was very friendly attentive and personable. the view at sunset was unbeatable. Bottom line- food is good not great, and over priced even for a resort. Atmosphere was perfect and romantic. Would I eat here again, probably, for the sake of convenience , but not for the food.

Definitely a great place to enjoy breakfast! Hubs and I popped in Thanksgiving Day. After a wonderful day and evening of playing in the beach and the waterpark the night before, it was great to have a relaxing moment. Lunched here two days in a row for 2 separate but special occasions. It was a FANTASTIC experience. The hostess' were friendly and warm and welcoming (Richelyn? Sandra? and others). The waiters on both days were professional and knowledgeable about the food and attentive in service. Owen served us one day, the next day another young gentleman with glasses helped us (Devan?). They were both great. The food was delicious - and the presentation quite good. The view was nice. The atmosphere was relaxing. I am going to recommend this place to anyone who wants a nice experience, and, do not mind splurging. =)

I ate dinner last night here with my wife. To begin the night waiting for your table, you have to wait standing up. The only seats to wait in are in front of the restaurant. When did get to our table, the waiters were excellent greeters but took them a while to receive our order (it was not a crowded night). The pig pupu was excellent with a wonderful sauce. As for the main meal tuna...it is extremely small and not worth the $38. My wife had the filet which was delicious and had a wine sauce that was very delicate. Overall, ok, make sure you order a side if you want to eat though because the entree is not nearly large enough to satisfy anybody's hunger.

We arrived in Oahu and really hasn't gotten our bearing yet. We thought, because we have never been disappointed with a Disney restaurant before, that it would be safe to go to 'Ama 'Ama. We were totally wrong. The food is overpriced for the portion and presentation. Our fish was tough, and seemed overlooked. My son's "steak" was nothing but fat. We will not be back. The only positive is the oceanside dining.

I visited 'Ama 'Ama because I was staying at Aulani. Ama Ama has a perfect overlook of the beach, and it open air. The menu is very limited and the items are extremely expensive for what you get. I had the snapper over corn fricassee. The snapper was well cooked, and was about 6 oz in size. The corn fricassee (with Lobster) was delicious. I could have easily had a bowl of just the fricassee. Like most "new American" cuisine, the servings aren't that large. The snapper was about $44. My dinner guest had the cider maple roasted chicken. It was about $33 for a small chicken breast, The chicken breast was cooked well and tasted good. However if the menu says it comes with something (carrots, gnocchi, mushrooms) there needs to be more than 2 carrots, 4 gnocchi. We decided to split the $18 chopped salad, which would be large for one person, and was a side salad size for two. It took a small while to get the salad, because I mentioned to the server that I am allergic to onions. The chef took it upon himself to make a fresh batch of dressing for the salad, and even made a fresh batch for my snapper dish, instead of using the pre-made. The service, as just explained was very good, which is consistent with all the other Aulani options. Unfortunately, the prices at Ama Ama are consistent (way overpriced) with the other dining options at Aulani.

We made an internet reservation (convenient) for an early (6:15 PM) seating. We were taken to one of a couple dozen tables at the outer edge of the restaurant, with an awesome view of the lagoon at Koolina (and the sunset). The pace was leisurely, not rushed, and I appreciated this, as it was a special occasion dinner. The wait staff was courteous, not overbearing, and helpful. They did not visit the table as frequently as at many restaurants. The food was just awesome. Every dish was original, and very, very good. The bread served first was a mix of two different kinds...served with soft butter with two kinds of salt that you could mix in...very good, but a bit tough, and served at room temperature. The salad was amazing. Very fresh greens, and a light vinaigrette, with radish, tomatillos... I had the New York Strip Stake. It was cooked as ordered, and came with a really nice teriyaki sauce, WONDERFUL mashed potatoes, and some 'puff' potatoes (twice fried) that were empty inside. We had the chocolate cake with coffee and toffee chips for dessert. It is their number one dessert, and is not to be missed. To call it cake does it an injustice! If you like chocolate, you won't be disappointed. The evening ended up with a two-person duet (guitar, bass violin, and Hawaiian vocals. Overall, I would put the experience between Roy's and Alan Wong's. Very nice!

Today's lunch was terrible food and service. There were so many open tables and we had to wait 10 minutes for a table of 8. After we were seated, it took her 15 minutes to greet us. After she took our order, as we were looking for her,10 minutes later, we had to ask for water. She never asked us if we wanted beverages as she took our orders. Two of us ordered their Hawaiian lunch special. There were no flavor on their assorted dishes. One person ordered loco moco and the gravy was salty. Another person ordered the Cobb salad. It was the worst Cobb salad she ever tasted and the japanese seaweed was so salty. We were not impressed and disappointed in Disney.

Short review, and to the point. 3 star prompt says its "A-ok" so when service is slow beyond comprehension, then no matter how pretty the view (very pretty), or tasty the food ( 3 stars there), I can not give over 2 stars, especially when the prices are higher than what I ever pay for lunch. Prices can be justified in a lot of ways, but sitting at least 45-50 minutes for a few sandwiches can't ever be. The waiter even stopped by to finally tell us our food was being plated right then. Well at least 10 or more minutes went by and no food. I watched the next table get their food and ask for a side of rice. It was 20-25 minutes before they got two little bowls of plain rice to mix with their entrees- which they had almost finished by then. Getting a coffee after lunch was another 10 and that was only because we asked someone else's server to get it. Only 1 in 3-4 table had guests, so they were not crowded. If I were to do it again, I'd go just for dessert and the view. The desserts were very pretty.

The Disney brand brings with it certain expectations - the food will be pricey (Mickey's got mouths to feed, after all), but it will be tasty, and service will be exceptional. Only one of those three things apply to this upscale resort restaurant. I sure you can guess which, but I'll give you the lowdown on our evening there anyway. We had a reservation and arrived early, but weren't seated until 15 minutes after our reservation, being told repeatedly that our table was being given "the finishing touches", while several walk-ins were seated before us...and at better tables than the one they offered us. When I requested a different table - one already set up, with a better view, the hostess responded with hostility and made us wait longer while she got permission from some unknown person. Now for the food - for $40 an entree, please use some seasoning. Snapper crusted with seafood sounds delightful, but, Lordy, was it boring. Find something better for your money, my friends.

We visited Disney's Aulani Resort for the day to see if we should stay there on our next visit. While there, we had lunch at 'Ama 'Ama. The food wasn't bad, but wasn't the best. The service was good. The view was great. If we stay at this resort, it would only be for a day or two because there just isn't a lot of good places to eat, and it too far from Wailoa.

When we made the reservation in person, we were handed a little note of our res time. It also says: For dining reservations, please call 808-674-6330. Looks like more of a local number vs the 714 number.

i had a very relaxing time dining at ama ama, away from the busy streets of waikiki, watching the sun slowly disappearing beyond ko olina lagoon horizon was quite a sight to behold, the quietness and pristine environment impresses even a see-them-all local like myself, sometimes,i would ignore the menu and rather enjoy restaurants with unique surroundings and atmosphere ,will definitely stop by the aulani when visiting kapolei in the near future

My wife and I went to 'Ama 'Ama for our anniversary dinner. We were very excited to go, as this was the first time that we had been to the new Aulani resort. As a disney property, we assumed that it would be a great experience. Unfortunately, we were wrong. I made the reservation a week in advance, showed up to check in 5 minutes early and we still had to wait almost 15 minutes past our reservation time to be seated. It was weird because when we did get seated, half the dining room tables were empty. It was not busy at all. If this was the worst of our evening, then that would have been fine as I understand that restaurants can be busy at times. From the time we were seated, someone promptly came by to give us water. and then we waited. and waited. and waited until our server finally came to take our drink order. It actually took about 15 minutes for our drinks to come. The weird part was that it was not very busy, and the restaurant was only about half full. On the plus side, they were probably some of the best cocktails that we'd ever had. I had the Alae (sea salt) Margarita and it was delicous. My wife had a different drink, I think it was called an AntiOxidant cocktail or something. It was very good as well. We ordered our food, my wife had the fresh catch fish special and I had the Steak. We both had the wine pairings with our meals. We also ordered a salad and appetizers (clams). We waited about 15-20 minutes before my wifes salad came out. Our server asked if she could get us another drink and my wife ordered another cocktail and I ordered a beer. This is where it got kind of weird. The server brings us our drinks right away, and then 1 minute later they bring us the clams (appetizer) and both of our Entrees. By this time, I'd only been able to take one sip of my beer and the server who 3 minutes ago asked us to order more drinks and 1 minute ago just brought us the drinks tells us that we can't have our wine pairings with our dinner because we are only allowed to have on drink at a time. I told her that she just asked us to order these drinks. She just kind of started at me like she couldn't understand what I was talking about. She told us that we can either "chug" our drinks we just got to have our wine or that she will have to bring us the wine later. We didn't feel like chugging our drinks so we ate our appetizer and dinner with our beer and margarita while our wine just sat there on the bar. We finished our drinks with only about 1/4 of the meal left, so we barely even had any of the wine with the meal. This was very strange to have happened at what is supposed to be a very high end restaurant. The food was not very good overall. The clams were very tasty, my steak was nothing special at all as was my wifes fish. It's weird the clams were $16 and both the fish and steak were over $50 each, and we both agreed the highlight of the meal was the clams. The part that really upset me was that the 2 wines that were to be paired with our meal were $22 and $28each, and we were not able to have this with our dinner. There was no price on the wine pairing so when we ordered we had no idea how much the wines were. Had we known, I would have probably sent back the $8 drinks to actually enjoy the $20 drinks. Overall it was very horrible service with mediocore food, not what we'd expect from anything with the Disney name. We both kind of laughed as we were just happy to be spending our anniversary together. We tipped 20% even though it was not deserved at all and both agreed that we would NEVER return to this restaurant again. The best part of the evening was right outside the restaurant they have a fire pit with very comfortable chairs and a story teller, so after dinner we walked over and sat by the fire for an hour listening to "Kimo" tell us a story. If you are looking for fine dining on Ko Olina, I'd recommend Roys as we have never been disappointed there. Other great places on Oahu are Mortons or Hy's or Benehana. Don't waste your time or money at Ama Ama or Aulani.

Celebrated our 23rd year anniversary of togetherness last night at AMA AMA restaurant at the Disney Resort at Ko Olina. Why a fine meal we had! We had heard that the place was overpriced and just OK so we took our time to try this establishment...should have tried it sooner! I was impressed! The only thing that kept me from giving it 5 stars is the wait to get seated from our reservation time...20 minutes. But once sat, it was a great experience! We chose the prefixed dinner for two which included a Chef's choice combo appetizer which was ahi poke, hoisin sauce ribs, heirloom tomatoes with goat cheese and a Hamakua coast mushroom tartlet. Great start! All was fabulous especially the mushroom tartlet! And the ribs were fall off the bone yummy! Homemade bread was served on the side with unsalted butter with 2 kinds of salt o sprinkle on if you wish: a black rock salt from Molokai and a pink Hawaiian salt. Black salt was awesome! Our dinner entree was a large ribsteak done medium rare (a bit rarer but I like it blue too) sliced, creamy mashed potatoes and Chinese broccoli. Steak melted in your mouth! And mashed potatoes are mashed potatoes but the flavor and consistency was such that I ate my share and most of my partner's! Lol. Piggy piggy! Now dessert was out of this world! Hawaiian chocolate cake: a white and dark chocolate praline shell, top made of a macadamian nut caramel brittle, middle of chocolate cake imbedded with cocoa krispies surrounded by a chocolate mousse! Served with vanilla bean icecream and cubes of coffee gelatin. Can't get any better than that! The service was 5 stars especially one of the many servers we had named, I think, Jaime? She was so personable and made our evening. All in all a fantastic night! Thank you Disney Resort!!!!!

Amazing atmosphere. Breathtaking views (even at night) We are staying at Aulani for our honeymoon and decided to have dinner. Made reservations and were seated promptly. Our server was Isaac and he's probably the nicest guy I've ever met. Very friendly and sweet. Dinner was amazing. I had a New York steak and my husband had the pasta. We took our leftovers back to our room. We didn't have room for dessert but plan to have some in the next few days! Fair warning, this is Disney owned so the prices are a little steep.

Went during lunch on Sunday. Was too late for buffet at Makahiki (i think they have the buffet.) The One Paddle Two Paddle had no customers and we couldn't find the lava shack? The hotel didn't look very crowded, but I guess the AMA restaurant was. Had to wait about 30 min before being seated. I was very worried about the price after reading all the reviews, but it's about right priced for a hotel restaurant in Hawaii. Spent $50 total Angus Burger w/ fries $18 Three Kalua Pork slider type sandwiches w/ 3 types of toppings (KimChee, Pickled onion?, and... lomi?) My wife said the first few bites were okay, but not enough topping to last. She had to add shoyu and tobasco to finish. It wasn't your normal salty kalua pork. $14 And our daughter had a kids meal $9. She chose tuna sandwich and pineapple upside down cake with a scoop of ice cream. Desserts look small but right sized for a kid's meal. Soft drinks x 3 Self parking is $35 Valet is $10 for the 1st hr and $5 for each additional... hour? or half hour? Parking and valet are free (up to 4hrs) if spending more than $35 at hotel shops/restaurants.

I am sampling the outdoor restaurants serving breakfast along the walk at Ko Olina. This is the entry from Aulina and it is very disappointing. Entered at 10 a.m. and despite 80% of tables being empty, had to wait almost 10 minutes for beachside table. As area towards beach is under construction for another pool and restaurant, the view is disappointing. Ordered ham and cheese omelet with their specialty potatoes (yukon gold) and coffee. First cup of coffee was good. Refill was cold from pourer and it took 10 minutes to get hot cup. 3 egg omelet was badly overstuffed with ham cubes and way too much cheese. Similar to Denny's (probably) but Denny's likely does it better. Large serving of potatoes was mildly warm at first and soon cold. When server saw how little I ate, he offered a different breakfast, but I passed. Perhaps bacon and eggs w toast and a side of hash browns would be decent, though over $20. The combination of construction where there should be a view, cold coffee, and Denny's like food means no second chance in the near future.

Very poor service, decent food, and high priced. My kids loved the Mickey waffles though! Only went for breakfast so can't comment on other stuff. Service was the worst I have had at a restaurant in quite some time. The staff was nice though. It seemed the operations were messed up which surprised us as we figured Disney would have operations down by now. Oh well... will give it one more try next year and hopefully they'll get it right.

As DVC members and avid Disney resort restaurant fans, we were excited to have dinner here on the first night of our stay. The restaurant is beautiful and has lovely views of the water however, it was not crowded at 8:15 and we were sat between two large pillars facing the kitchen door. Our server was nice both times he came over to apologize for the delay in our order, as the food took over an hour to arrive at our table. Excited to finally have our meal, and it was salt overkill on the side dishes. You could tell the food had potential and was very fresh but inedible because of the salt. Three of us had the fresh fish and one had the filet. I don't know if the recipe just calls for excess salt or the chef had an extremely heavy hand. The restaurant was disappointing and is not worth the money!

we didnt had reservations and were seated right away with a nice view, the waiter Isaac was really nice and helpful, the food was really good, and desserts are not only pretty to look but really good, the only thing i found is that for the price they should have their staff polish the glasses, the wine glasses were really dirty same as the water glasses you can see the water spots I think for the price they charge that is a no no.. other than that we had a great time with good food

went again tonight. lamb, catch of the day very good. service....not so good. felt rushed, server even delivered the check before desert was served, a restaurant sin in my book, especially when your paying $300 (for 4) for dinner. they werent even that busy, more than half the tables were empty at 630. hostess was very nice and welcoming and we were seated promptly. overall food was very good.

Really enjoyed Ama Ama for lunch and dinner for several days while staying at Ihilani! Yes, the food was so horrible at Ihilani that we spent our meals at either Roy's or Aulani. Ama Ama has a wonderful wine list and a good selection of food for lunch and dinner (oh! and breakfast too). Breakfast burrito must be from Man vs. Food. Food won. I think if I had not had the 2nd bloody mary I may have finished the last few bites. Ono! Lunch = nicoise salad was very nice and on a less healthy day, the burger was da bomb. Dinner = lamb was cooked perfectly, perhaps a bit too much salt, but after a day of running around and sweating out in the west side sun the extra salt was just fine (blood pressure could care a less so.....). Another good meal was the Paella (very surprising) and also the tenderloin was a classic and onolicious meal. Rare! Nice! Did I mention the wine list?! Prices, even for being in a hotel resort, even as kama'aina, were reasonable and in line with any nice restaurant in town. The wait staff were all Disneyriffic and full of personality. Ask to sit in "Hale 1" or the area near the fountain. Do not sit to the far left as it is too bright and close to the kitchen and will reduce the ambience of the wonderful setting adjacent to the lagoon.

Food: * BBQ Pork Sandwich = Zero flavor and did not seem fresh. * Seasonal Plate = Chicken clearly had been under a warmer or sitting out for awhile. Pork was very fatty. Rice and daikon were decent, but who cares. Overall - Uninspired seasoning, lack of freshness, premium price. Drink: * Mai Tai was surprisingly well made. Service: * Good, no complaints. Ambience: Great view

I love the service, the decor, and the food is pretty awesome! The only thing that kind of sucks about this place is I wish there was more variety outside of "veggies" I'm not a big veggie person so I prefer most of my diet consisting of wheat, meat, fish, etc. Leave the veggies out hahah!

Wow you pay for the view. We came here for my birthday. The guy at the front desk wasnt very Disney happy. They seem a bit disorganized. As soon as we sat dow, it started raining hard. We had to move twice because they keep seating us at table that was hit with rain. No big deal for me. The waiter brought a shawl to cover my sister since her seats was getting sprinkled with rain. We ordered the seafood plate. The quantity was good for two. I had the paella. It was good. The best was the dessert banana bread pudding. I think i could of ate 3 of those. They have ukelele singers that come and sing happy birthday. It made it special. And sunsets from the restaurant was amazing.

We had breakfast here during our stay at Aulani. The table we got was excellent- clear view of the beach. We had a party of 8 & everyone enjoyed their food, the view, the company. The corn beef hash, loco moco, French toast with chocolate was fabulous. The service was also good- you can't go wrong with this restaurant.

Disney nailed this one! First of all let me start by saying the Disney experience does exist at this resort. The service here is some of the best I have had in years! My step dad can be a demanding diner. When we got there and found out that the free bread that many restaurants serve while you wait for your meal is not served at lunch the server quickly went out of her way to get us what we craved and it was delicious. Their Parmesan cheese bread is crazy good... Almost magical (get the Disney reference there?). The food is not the best I have ever had BUT it is some of the best I had on this vacation. The lasagna was so good. The views were so good too. To top off this fantasmic experience you might even get to say hi to Mickey Mouse and his friends.

You pay for the atmosphere, not food. The food selection was ok, the starters had nothing I would choose, but I'm a spring roll, fried calamari, hot wings kinda girl. I didn't expect to see salads as starters. Customer service was great, but I don't think I'd go there again for dinner.

We went here for a 4th of July dinner & the food was delicious. It's a bit pricey & you need a reservation, but it's worth it. The steak & lamb we ordered were so tender & melted in our mouths. Our waiter was very knowledgeable of the evening's specials & checked on us pretty often. Besides the sometimes annoying tourists running back & forth trying to squeeze behind your chair lol, it's a nice place to have a romantic dinner. Parking is free with a restaurant validation. Just remember when you turn into Ko Olina you might drive straight past this place. The hotel driveway is very poorly lit, & you have to pay attention to the signs on your left, if not you might drive past it.

Interesting decor and nice scenery. The server was great the food was good and the presentation was awesome. The view was really relaxing. It seems they were going for a beach shack theme and they pulled it off. The chocolate cake was more like a Oreo bottom with chocolate moose covered with a toffee topping and filled with a chocolate fudge sauce with coffee jelly and ice cream on the side. It was worth the money I liked it a lot. If I could go there any time soon I would.

Went here back in November and had a great time! They made me my own nut-free bread understanding that I was allergic to nuts. The food was great and had great entertainment. It's on the pricy side but enjoyed it.

Service was really good but food just okay for price and Hawaii expectations. Had the paella, which they were very accommodating to replace the shellfish with more opa (not allergic, just don't like it). Fish was good (not fishy) but the dish overall lacked some flavor. The chocolate cake is really good though. Decent wine selection.

This outdoor covered dining establishment is located in the Disney Aulani Resort and Spa at Ko Olina. It's interesting how most folks I speak to dislike the food here., but I for one, have thoroughly enjoyed my dining experiences so far. If you like being near the water (lagoon) and enjoy tropical breezes, this is the place you want to sit and enjoy a great meal. You can see neighboring Ihilani Resort from the restaurant. The menu offers the fresh food from fish to fruits. If you're a coffee lover, you will enjoy the French pressed Kona coffee. Overall, I think the quality of service and food are good. I've never been disappointed. Online reservations are highly recommended. This place gets busy and if you don't have a reservation, expect to wait 30 minutes plus. Even with a reservation, sometimes it takes a while to get a table cleaned and reset.

A word of caution to locals: Disney does not offer kama'aina rates nor do they ever plan to (according to the management, whom I spoke with last night). They do not want local business. The management is from the mainland and seem to have NO idea that the area of 'Oahu they are located is 99% local as are the majority of their employees. Their prices are incredibly inflated and if you look around you will see NO local families. It really is a shame that Disney has failed to do the proper research on the side of the island they have chosen for their location. Remember, tourists avoid the "westside" of the island like the plague. Who do you think will be visiting your resort when the tourists don't come...locals! The atmosphere was okay at best. The food, although tasty, was way too pretentious for it's own good. (Anyone who's had the Seafood Corn Chowder or Croquettes knows what I'm talking about.) The layout felt more like the waiting area of a restaurant. Oh, and the prices were outrageous. This is the west side after all (a hop and skip away from Waianae, not Waikiki) On the plus side, the sunset view was nice and the staff was outstanding. I'm glad we experienced 'Ama 'Ama but will definitely not be back.

I had taken my nieces to lunch at 'Ama 'Ama for one of their birthdays. I made reservations online it was easy and fast. They also send you a confirmation number with a list of reccomendations and "rules" on ordering for children, and other "friendly notes"! The hotel was beautful and so was 'Ama'ama definetly 5 star on decor. After checking in and waiting 5 minutes we were seated. The hostest told a little history on the decor and she and everyone else was more than friendly. As we were being seated I was shocked to see the table itself was DIRTY with dust and dirt I asked the hostest nicely if she could clean our table and she her self seemed embarassed that I even had to ask.Especially since we had to wait as they were "setting" our table.Strangely they didn't take the silver wear because it dosent sit on a napkin but directly on a dirty table. They provided the kids with a menu and some crayons. They have one of the best kids menu I've seen and for what they get for around 10 dollars is a deal! Two of my nieces ordered chesse pizza they had no complaints,my other niece ordered a veggie platter appetizer and mac and chesse she on the other hand made a strange face and refused too take a second bite but finished all the veggies. They also serve a small cup of fruits with the kids meals, the strawberrys were sour and they didn't end up eating the other fruits.Their meals also come with two choices of desserts a pineapple upside down cake or build your own kabob with little chocolate brownies, little lilikoi marshmallows, pineapples and a shot glass of hot. fudge. They loved it and I had a taste of both and would definetly reccomend the upside down cake. As for the adults I ordered the" hawaiian plate" get this one it came with steak, toss salad, pickled veggies and a rice musubi. The salad was good it was lightly tossed with a fruity balsamic vinagrette, pickled veggies were ok nothing spectacular .I just hope the veggies and steak were provided by local vendors cause nothing about it was hawaiian the musubi rice tasted like day old rice and barley sticky the steak was good but its prepared japanese style with onions and daikon for 16.00 dollars I guess were paying for ambiance cause it was way over priced. My friend orderd the kalua pork with steam buns it was good!! The three buns were stuffed with kalua pork all topped off with diffrent garnishes one had kimchee another mixed veggies and the last one pickeled veggie. The pork was very tasty buns fresh and soft each garnish complimented the dish very well and it came with sweet potatoe fries suprisingly cruchy and very tasty! The last dish we ordered was sirloin steak even this dish was nothing special we were better off having a 6.00 steak plate at one of those lunch wagons definelty overpriced and overcooked he also ordered pog juice witch took a good 15 mins to reach the table evidently they ran out when we got it,it tasted like orange and passion orange juice mixed togeather and they forgot to add the guava! Our waiter was very nice and friendly I found it sad that even though the place wasn't crowded on many occasions we had to ask for water my nine year old niece called him over a few times for a refill and questions she had on the menu "sad" if your looking for friendly go here if your looking for service that you will have to find some where else. The only reason I decided to write this review Was within the next two hours of leaving aulani my niece got sick on the ride home and threw up everything she ate and had the runs. a few hours after that my second niece had the runs and complained of stomach pains I didn't find out my second one was sick til monday. They both were sick all day sunday and the last place they ate was at 'Ama'Ama I tried to reach the hotel but apparently they have no 808 listing u have to call some mainland number with is closed by 6pm hawaii time we will be calling the board of health to make sure this dosent happen to anyone else.

Went for lunch after seeing the Live With Kelly show. Had Kalua Pig Sliders and Sweet Potato fries. Wasn't bad, just wasn't impressed. My friend had the lobster roll of some sort, she said she enjoyed it. but for the both of us with a couple of drinks was kind of expensive for lunch. In sum, the service was great once we got seated, and the view was awesome. the food is way over priced.

Not sure why this place is listed as being a "$$" restaurant. It is very expensive even by Disney resort standards. We were seated well within our reservation time and had an excellent view of the water. I had the salted fish platter that was just ok. It I didn't blow me away like a $43 entree should have. My wife had the $42 New York steak that was also just ok. The service is well trained and easygoing but don't seem very experienced. My wife and my entree came out at the same time as my children's appetizer. Not a good situation if your kids are slow eaters like mine. By the time they got their entree we had finished our meal. This in itself is not too bad as long as appropriate measures are taken to correct the situation. Instead both the waiter and the manager just repeated that the kids appetizers had been put in at the same time as the entree. Basically what they were saying sorry there is no way to fix the problem. All in all the place is not bad but for the price not bad is not good enough.

What a beautiful restaurant. We were impressed by the view, furnishings and surroundings. Valet parking is free and if this is your intro to the Aulani, you will not be disappointed.Plan to stay awhile after you eat and enjoy walking the grounds. This will be a good way to work off the huge portions that they serve. My Mom had the Black Angus burger with sweet potato fries. A massive burger cooked right with lettuce, tomato and onions. A great burger! My wife had the chicken salad sandwich with side salad. Super presentation for a lunch item. I had the local Hawaiian plate- was unreal! Lomi salmon, chicken long rice, shrimp poke, kalua pig, local fish, pulehu meat and furikake rice. Yikes! Sorry, no room for dessert. The prices were more reasonable then you would expect for this level of food, service and view.

I had the catch of the day fish taco here and it was delicious. The view was nice. I coulda done without the flying bugs though. My husband had a plate lunch with short ribs and tempura shrimp. The shrimp was sweet but the short ribs were okay. How could the meat be fatty, tender and so dry? The short ribs left more to be desired. The 4 stars is for the friendly staff, good tacos and nice view.

We were staying at Aulani and decided to pick 'Ama 'Ama over Roy's to try something new. The service was wonderful as well as the ambiance, decor and views. I had the special of the day, which was a mahi mahi dish as well as a side of steamed veggies. The fish was very fresh and the veggies were delicious. My sister had a vegetarian mushroom dish as well as the veggies which she really liked. We each had a glass of wine and didn't have room for dessert. Our bill came out to about $120 plus tip. In the end, I wished we picked Roy's because in my opinion, their dishes are a lot better tasting for similar prices.

The day after grand opening I had lunch here with my husband and 2 kids =) We were able to get in without reservations. The restaurant is beautiful as it overlooks the beach lagoon. It is also, very child friendly. Restaurant staff is VERY, VERY friendly/outgoing as Disney castmembers usually are. We ordered the crab/lobster roll with the salad which was delicious and also the chuckburger which was FABULOUS!!! The papaya salad dressing is to die for as well as the sweet potato fries... delish! The kids macaroni and cheese is made with white cheese with peas inside, which the kids thought was weird, but they still liked it. Overall this restaurant was GREAT and we will definitely go back again during our next Ko'Olina trip :) LOVED IT!!!

Had difficulty signing up on the website and getting the appropriate time slot. Made two separate reservations with a request to be seated at tables next to each other. No promises except that we might have to wait. The restaurant staff was very friendly and went out of their way to accommodate us. Brittany and Omar did an excellent job with our meal and drinks and even wrote up separate checks! We were a group of 18 so Tasha, Maria, Brittany and Omar- mahalo for excellent service and good food with great value. Lunch was ver affordable! Tip: book early as any group more than 10 has a special reservation line to call.

I expected so much more. The location is unbeatable. We went at sunset and it was incredible. The service was very good. A bit more casual than I would expect for the menu. We ordered the two person prie fixe with a 24 oz steak, an appetizer sampler, and a dessert to share. The Appetizer was beautiful! But the flavors were undeveloped and bland. The steak was very good, but again lacked seasoning. The sides were ok, but looked like a mess on the plate. The Mashed potatoes were more like a gravy that ran over the plate only held back by stringy looking broccoli and mushrooms. The chocolate cake had some great flavors but could have used some editing. Cake, mousse, macadamia brittle top with gold flake, wrapped in chocolate ribbon, coffee gels, scoop of ice cream on graham crumbs. The price with two cocktails came in over $140. Having eaten at some James Beard winning chef restaurants for far less, I left kind of disappointed. But the price isn't really the issue. It is food taste - and frankly Outback makes a better steak dinner. And it wasn't nearly as good as any of the table service restaurants on the Disney Cruise Line. Perhaps other menu items are different, but I would be hesitant to spend that much just to find out.

Let this be a warning...I am a Disney fan...so I may be a little biased. I've been to Ama Ama several times before but usually for lunch. I've always loved it and my food has always been delicious, so that is why my family took me there for my birthday dinner. It had been awhile since I had dinner there and since then their menu had changed. This is Disney. There's a certain expectation and level of service and of course all for a price. Yes, the prices are a little high. When we arrived we were seated almost immediately.... Well right after they greeted me a happy birthday. We had a nice table almost by the edge where we had a full unobstructed view of the beach area. The hostess was very pleasant and our waiter came right away to take our drink order. He described how one tea over the other had more antioxidants. Hmmm...that was a first. So tried the one with the most antioxidants...the mango ice tea. Ok...I'll take his word for it. We had a ribeye dinner for two for $115, which included an appetizer, a 20 oz. bone-in ribeye and a dessert. Considering the average menu price was in the $40 range, that wasn't too bad. Another person ordered the chicken. I orderd the cheese ravioli for my son. The appetizer wasn't bad. A set of four: a very soft cheese, ribs, mushroom tartlet, ahi poke. They were all ok. Nothing outstanding. Their bread is nice looking but a little on the dry side. It comes with unsalted butter and two types of salt, both with antioxidants....ooo-k. The ribeye was cooked perfectly to our liking. They came to our table with it cut on a platter and asked if we wanted it separated onto 2 plates and who wanted what, etc. There were already 2 prepared plates with the mash potatoes and broccollini, nicely arranged. The rib-eye and potatoes were delicious...melt in your mouth. The chicken was really good too. My son's ravioli was a little sparse and bland for my taste, but he was ok with it. Our waiter was always buzzing around but not too much to the point it was intrusive. My son ended up eating more of my steak and potatoes and we took home the rest of his. My husband had ordered a 6 inch round chocolate cake which they brought to our table with lit candles. It was beautiful and our waiter took it back after I blew out the candles to slice it up for us. Later on he automatically boxed it and brought it to us in a bag. We didn't realize that this was in addition to our already prix fixe dessert and my son's dessert. It was a lot...especially after having a full meal. The dessert was good, not overly sweet but definitely strong on chocolate. Beautifully arranged as well. The cake we found out after the fact costs $27!... Whoa. Well...like I said it is Disney.

We were made to wait past time of reservation even though we arrived 30 min early and half the tables were empty. Food was very expensive and good not great. I wouldn't go back.

Had dinner at Ama Ama at the new Disney Aulani resort - the resort itself gets 5 stars, it really is magnificent looking - we considered staying there next trip, but I would skip this restaurant. it kind of reminds me of the Blue Bayou at Disneyland, the best restaurant in the park, but certainly not the best food available. You pay for the experience of watching the boats float by on their way to the Pirates of the Caribbean, but at Ama Ama you don't have a ride, but this absolutely beautiful view of the ocean and we arrived just in time to watch the sun set, which was very stunning indeed - but alas the restaurant food and service torpedoed the experience so much - we have second thoughts about even staying at the resort. To start we had some of the fancy drinks - I had the Tropical Ginger Lemonade - Meh! i've experienced better - not sure what it was, but it wasn't great. We then asked about the appetizer menu - our waitress was a total dud - she couldn't get anything right, never bothered repeating our order and messes up just about everything we ordered. She brought our French Onion Soup and the appetizer (the one she remembered) at the same time. The French Onion soup had some odd sweet ingredients (apple and banana) in the mix that sounded interesting, but actually wasn't very good. The appetizers - we had the Kailua Pork cheese balls (they have another name, but they were awful, so don't order them - you get three and there is some pork in there somewhere, but not sure where...the other appetizer was delivered late after we had to remind here we ordered it, so the experience of enjoying it was forgotten - it was the Crispy Firecracker Chicken - I would have liked it better if it was served in order. Then we ordered the $41 each New York strip steaks - both of them were just awful - so hard to eat - they tasted like shoe leather. The sides were way overcooked too and I didn't finish it. We spent over $200 for this meal for 2 and frankly I don't mind spending money on a good dinner, but take the time to drive into Waikiki and eat at either Morton's or Ruth Chris and get a decent steak for your money. Sorry Disney - this was a HUGE MISS!

Epic views with an epic culinary experience. Service and food was some of the best we've ever had. Disney lays down the "magic" with this place in glass-shattering, slam-dunk fashion complete with a sunset only Hawaii can provide. The price tag was epic, too but ...to be expected. Can't wait to return.

Very good food with a beautiful view and friendly service. What more could you ask for?! The seafood poke bowl was awesome. We also had the shredded pork sandwich three ways and the chicken salad sandwich. We were impressed with all three entrees. Even the kids cheese pizza was good! We thoroughly enjoyed dining here

Dining at the 'Ama 'Ama restaurant is a treat, whether you're staying at Aulani or just want a relaxing meal on the hotel's grounds (you don't have to be a guest to dine here). I've gone to 'Ama 'Ama for lunch twice so far, and both times, it was during the week and not crowded at all, making for a calm, peaceful and relaxing dining experience. I would make reservations just in case, though, if you plan to make a trip here. The restaurant itself is located close to the beach and features an outdoor patio-like experience, due to the eatery's openness and large fans. You'll get a spectacular view of the ocean as you enjoy your meal, that's for sure! Here's what I would recommend from my lunch dining experiences so far, as well as what I would get for dinner and breakfast if I ever visited 'Ama 'Ama again: "Roasted Chicken Salad on Ciabatta Bread with Sumida Watercress": I've gotten this sandwich twice for lunch, and though I normally don't like watercress, this was a refreshing lunch entrée indeed. The Ciabatta bread was warm and toasted, and the chicken salad mixture contained numerous chicken chunks in the spread. The plentiful watercress provided the extra texture and crunch that made the sandwich unique. Each sandwich comes with your choice of French Fries, Sweet Potato Fries or Island Field Greens. While I normally prefer French Fries over Sweet Potato Fries, but once I tried 'Ama 'Ama's Sweet Potato Fries, I just had to get them again -- they were bomb! "Kalua-Roasted Pulled Pork Sandwich in Steamed Rice Buns": If I ever go to 'Ama 'Ama again for lunch, I'm totally getting this sandwich. My friend opted for this sandwich when she was visiting, and it looked so tasty! Fresh and steaming pulled pork was stuffed in the middle of each of the little white buns, which were warm, moist and soft (I had a bite of her sandwich). I love kalua pork, and this Hawaiian take on the classic pulled pork sandwich was savory and ono, full of great flavors. "Daily Local Plate Lunch": The boyfriend got this dish when we went to 'Ama 'Ama, and I can't completely remember what it entails (selection changes and you need to ask your server what's being featured that day). But I do remember that the savory kalua pork and lomi salmon were part of this traditional plate lunch dish. Of course, since it is served at Aulani, this entrée is a bit more upscale (and expensive) than the plate lunch you'd normally find at a lunch wagon on Oahu. But, if they're featuring a good variety as part of the "Daily Local Plate Lunch" for the day, I would recommend giving this onolicious sampler a try. "Macaroni Au Gratin with Keahole Lobster, Maitake Mushroom, Fontina-Parmesan Cheese and Herb-Garlic Crust": One of the appetizers on the 'Ama 'Ama dinner menu, this dish almost sounds like an upscale mac 'n cheese dish. I would love to try it one day because it includes so many wonderful cheesy flavors, plus bits of succulent lobster ... not to mention a delicious-sounding, breaded, herb-garlic crust. Yum! Though I have not yet been to 'Ama 'Ama for breakfast, here's what I would get if I ever have the pleasure of dining there: "Chocolate Milk-Dipped Haupia Bread French Toast Stuffed with Bananas and Peanut Butter": I don't even know where to begin when it comes to this dish, but it sounds simply glorious on paper. First of all, the haupia bread dipped in chocolate milk must be sweet, thick and moist in itself, providing for a perfect French Toast breakfast. But then, this dish ups the ante since it's stuffed with bananas and peanut butter. As a diehard peanut butter fanatic, this sounds completely amazing. I would probably order this dish with the banana chunks on the side. I prefer just straight-up peanut butter (unless there's chocolate involved), so I'm sure I would be completely satisfied with this French Toast decadence sans the bananas. "Traditional Loco Moco Breakfast": Loco Moco is one of my newfound favorites when it comes to local dishes, so I'm especially eager to try Aulani's upscale version. This breakfast entrée features a hamburger patty topped with two eggs and onion gravy and served on a bed of white rice. I would get my eggs over-easy (as usual), and since I'm not sure how that onion gravy tastes, I would order it on the side. However, I'm definitely curious to see what the hamburger patty tastes like -- and if the fine chefs there really do create a tasty, savory homemade burger. "Buttermilk Pancakes with Macadamia Nut-Vanilla Sauce": Now, I love the mac nut pancakes from Boots & Kimo's, so I imagine the 'Ama 'Ama version must taste similar. I'm sure the moist pancakes topped with that sweet sauce--with a hint of crunch from the macadamia nuts--must be superb!

Beautiful setting with a view of their beautiful lagoon with spectacular sun sets over the ocean. This open air restaurant resembles a beach house and is located on Aulani Resort next to the Waikolohe Valley pool. This is the second time that we've come here. They have live musicians that will serenade you throughout dinner. Service is always excellent. We ordered the chateaubriand rare for two and the steak just melted like butter. They gave us both the bearnaise and red wine shallot sauce, both were delicious. Our meal came with a taster of four different appetizers and dessert which was fantastic. We've never experience so many flavours in a dessert before. We spent two hours in the restaurant but it felt like one as the waitress and staff members made it such a wonderful experience for us. Will definitely come back again.

Listen, it's Hawaii so they could dress up a quarter pounder and I'd probably give it three stars. I'm a believer that your state of mind has something to do with your dining experience. That said, and in the spirit of objectivity while in paradise, Ama'Ama was excellent. Drew, our server, was attentive and knew the menu well. Very good waiter. For apps we had the lobster mac n cheese and the poke ahi (ahi tuna sashimi cubed and formed into a brick with some light ingredients mIxed in - very fresh and flavorful). For dinner we were carnivores - my wife had the pork chop on top of coconut rise and a Polynesian peanut sauce accenting the flavors. Really excellent. I had a huge filet mignon with braised short rib meat on top. Wow! Served with puréed potatoes, this was serious comfort food - more of what I'd seek on a winter's day but it was great on this somewhat humid Oahu evening. We were pooped after a long day so we didn't have dessert here. Next time! If you're staying at Disney Aulani resort in Oahu, definitely place this spot on your dinner list!

Made our lunch reservation about a month out. Then just two days before, I called to make sure our table for 2 was positioned with the best view of the lagoon and also mentioned we were celebrating our wedding anniversary. Our table did not disappoint! For drinks, hubs went with a non-alcoholic strawberry-guava drink and I had the Tropical Mai Tai for $12. Woah! Stir it up well because it was a lil on the strong side (at least they don't skimp out on the liquor). For Starters, we had the Shrimp Ceviche and Kahuku Crab & Corn Chowder. Folks. Listen up. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND THE CHOWDER. It's fabulously delicious!! For our entrees, we ordered the Angus Burger and the Catch of the Day. Plain and simple.....nothing to pack up and bring home (or leave behind). So good! Fresh and delicious! Lastly, in celebration of our 19th Anniversary, we ordered the Mocha Chantilly Cake nicely decorated and on the house (yep, complimentary!). IT WAS SO GOOD!! A must-order if you still have room for dessert. Nah. Just make sure you you save room for dessert!!!! You won't regret it. Since you're probably stuffed by now, you can walk around the beautiful resort to burn off those calories!!! Enjoy!!

3/24/2015. This was first time ever-stepping foot into the magical place of Aulani. I did not just go alone, I brought a friend with me and we both had a magical experience. We also took a picture with stitch! After checking in with our reservation, the waiter showed us to our table. Our table was in viewing near the beach, so we had a nice relaxing view (yes, we had shade under a patio--no sun glaring) of the calm water washing back to shore with the ambiance of people walking around. We had a cheerful and bubbly server named "Wainee", she was a delight! Wainee was doing her introductions and made us feel like tourist even though we were having a one day holiday stay-cation. For our appetizers, We ordered the Ahi Tataki and Shrimp Ceviche. Ahi Tataki - was a light and tasty dish with garlic crispy chips garnished with a light salad which consisted of daikon, carrots, and sumida watercress. Shrimp Ceviche - think of it as chips and dip (salsa/lomi salmon but shrimp). These came with spiced corn tortilla chips with the right amount of seasoning. Yum! Wainee already sold us on our entrees' which were the "Catch of the Day" along with the "Daily Local Plate Lunch". During our time here, the promotion was something with "forbidden rice" and let me tell you that "forbidden rice" was so onolicious no wonder it was forbidden from us eating it all the time. I got the Daily Local Plate Lunch Special which had mochiko chicken, mac salad, and tofu soup. This is my favorite part....DESSERT! My friend and I both got one each of the Tropical "Shave ice" Parfait and shared the Mocha Chantilly Cake. Tropical "Shave ice" Parfait - was served in a cute little see through glass with lilikoi bubbles (pearls) that pop in your mouth with vanilla ice cream along with guava granita topped off with white chocolate crunch. If you want something light and refreshing this is one to go to. Mocha Chantilly Cake - it was sufficient for 2-3 people to share and was just right for the two of us. OMG! You need to end your meal with this. This has Coffee Kanten, Coffee Anglaise, Macadamia Nut Nougatine, and Chocolate Gelato. Once you cut into this cake, there is a molten lava liquid chocolate that oozes out to go along with the cake. Every bite is rich and decadent for the sweet tooth lover. A definite must have!!! My stay here was pleasant and enjoyable and I am willing to make the effort to come back here again. Mocha Chantilly Cake, HERE I COME! Attached with this review is some photos that I've took of our memorable day! I wish wished that I was really doing a hotel stay-cation!!! Maybe next time? Overall: Spot on friendly/family "Aloha" customer service, presentation was amazing, and beautiful scenery.

Had breakfast here yesterday. Fantastic view and the food was great. Our server was very attentive. Not the cheapest, but a quieter experience than breakfast at Aulani's buffet restaurant.

What an awesome way to enjoy your meal... gorgeous ocean view! The Service: Our server, Brittany, is great! Very friendly and personal. Good customer service. Food is prepares in timely manner. The Food: Food portion is perfect for one person. A little pricey but the ocean view is priceless. Love the Mickey pancake! Only on kids menu. Definitely need reservation. With the hotel guests on site, it gets booked up pretty quickly.

I dont like hamburgers that much but the Harris Ranch Natural Angus Chuck Burger was the greatest hamburger. I have ever had the taste was so unique unlike all these other restaurants like. Carl's Jr, McDonald's, and Wendy's the Ama Ama hamburger was so amazing I enjoyed every bite. The Aulani resort has many amazing restaurants but the Ama Ama stood out this is my first time. Coming to Hawaii and I was greeted with the greatest hamburger ever I dont vegetables in my burgers but. The vegetables tasted delicious in this hamburger. If you come to visit Aulani I suggest you get the Harris Ranch natural Angus Chuck Burger at Ama Ama. Obviously the cast members are amazing I saw a young lady trip and a member caught her. It was miraculous all in all I loved the Ama Ama and I will always remember it.

It's like being on vacation! Came here for lunch on a Monday since my sister was in town. Overall I enjoyed myself, the view is spectacular, the service is friendly, we are on Disney property (always a plus), and the food was...well that was a mixture of amazing and just meh - so I can see why there are mixed reviews. But overall, I'd definitely go back. Prices are average when it comes to hotel eating. At lunch, my dish (the special) cost $28, my sister had a sandwich and that was about $15ish. But add the soup, our plantation ice teas, and our dessert and our little lunch turned into a $75 bill. A little steep but worth it to feel like we are on vacation if only for a moment. I tend to get so caught up in city life that I forget that we live in the most beautiful place on earth. Having a nice lunch overlooking the lagoons, with the wind in my hair, and a pineapple in my drink really lifted my mood. The mocha chantilly cake dessert is probably the best thing EVER. Sooooo good. It's wrapped in white chocolate and covered with a lacey cookie type thing, and when you remove the lacey cookie like chocolate syrup is all in the middle, and coffee jelly, and oh man. Just...get the dessert. I think I'd come back just for that! My fish, the special monchong with pesto shrimp and roasted tomatoes and tomato vodka cream sauce was sadly WAYY overcooked. All the components were pretty yummy! So the overcooked fish made me cry on the inside a little. The dish was served over a zucchini corn cake that was crispy and delicious. Just...that dang fish, so dry. So dead. LOL. My sister got the chicken salad sandwich on foccacia (by request instead of ciabatta), the bread was good, the chicken salad just ok. I found it odd that it seemed like a typical mayonnaisey chicken salad, but ...with pesto on it. Idk. something about it. I could eat it, but it wasn't my favorite taste. The corn and crab chowder she got to eat with it however...bomb! Loved it! Overall, for the view and the not bad food (with amazing dessert), I would definitely go again. Plus, they validate your parking and you can go wander the grounds and see some Disney characters walking around. We saw Goofy and Stitch by the pools. So awesome :)

Our fist meal on the Island was simply spectacular! After getting settled in our Villa, we were starving from a long travel day. We walked around the lower level of the hotel and found Ama Ama. After looking over the menu, we decided to stay here and eat. We were told there was a short wait, so headed next door for drinks and appetizers to get started as it was fairly late (about 8:30 PM local time, but 10:30 PM in our bodies and minds). After sitting and ordering in the bar next door, we were notified that our table was ready. We sat down on the patio facing the lagoon and ocean. What a way to start a vacation! I ordered the Grilled Pork Chop. It was cooked to perfection and had endless flavors. It was served on a bed of rice and came with a sauce that added another dimension to the food. My wife ordered the seafood curry. A nice blend of seafood including fish, shrimp and a few other selections that I can't recall. Again, the flavors were dynamic and delicious. The service was friendly from the begining. My only concern was the wait for our food. Although it may have been that we were overly hungry and tired from travel, it seemed to take a really long time to get our entrees. They did bring a couple baskets of sourdough bread in between which helped. Overall a great way to start a vacation in Hawaii. Keep on Yelp'n!

The best restaurant at the Disney Resort Aulani in Hawaii! There is nothing better than waking up and strolling down to the beach front of the resort to enjoy breakfast! The value is way better than the quick stop grab and go food that is offered near the pools and its not that much more in price. Resort dining is going to be pricey, so might as well include a view in your dining pleasures! Make reservations! We came during Christmas Eve and had to wait about 30 minutes for our table but ended up with a great view! My girlfriend and I had the Corned Beef Benedict with Potatoes and the Portugese Sausage, Eggs and Rice! Both dishes came with generous portions that will keep you going past lunch! The Corned Beef Benedict was my favorite! 2 poached eggs on top of a corned beef patty without the English Muffin! Great deconstruction of the original Eggs Benedict! I will definitely come back again to dine here!

Wonderful environment near the soft waves of the lagoon. Every meal is excellent. From breakfast to dinner. You can even request to have a table out on the grass with butler service if you want. Will definitely go back. Note: make reservations early. They book up fast.

This is the by far the best food at Aulani and certainly the most expensive. I would definitely recommend at least one meal here during your stay. We went for breakfast the first morning and it was the perfect way to celebrate our arrival. Try the traditional/local stuff the offer. Enjoy the amazing view. I wish I could have eaten every meal there. Pro tip: The bloody mary is great and the coffee beans are hand selected.

Living in Hawaii for 9 years and my first visit here is on a business trip back. TThe entire campus is absolutely beautiful combing the wonder of Disney with the beauty and culture of Hawaii. What an awesome combination. Valet parking is pretty hefty at $35 but if you spend a certain amount it is validated with no charge. 13 of us went to lunch and everyone had a hard time choosing a meal. A nice variety of different choices for any palate. I had a burger that had so many different items on it you felt like a buffet happened in your mouth. Absolutely delicious and it came with a salad, fries or sweet potato fries. I got the sweet potato fries and they were the best I have ever had. The burger could easily have been shared by 2 people and no one would have left hungry. Some guests had the Ruben which looked delicious as well but said it was a little spicy for them. All in all an excellent meal right on the lagoon and great service at a pretty good price for Disney. Definitely will be back.

Every time we are in Oahu, we always have lunch at this place, maybe because I can't afford to stay at Aulani (lol), but we normally eat lunch, enjoy the lagoon view, enjoy the free parking validation (2 Hrs.) and leave. We are a fan of the Ama Ama salad and daily plate lunch. Enjoy the food, view, service and when driving out make sure you don't run over the meandering platoon of parking attendant.

I came here for breakfast and dinner. Great place to enjoy beautiful ocean views and fresh seafood... as well as stunning sunsets if you time it right. It seems that every table here offers beautiful views. For breakfast, I ordered the Japanese Breakfast, which featured fish, miso soup, rice and tamago. SOOOO delicious. The only downside is that that fish specifically attracted flies. Apparently it's cooked in a sweet sauce that the flies seem to love. But once I finished the fish, the flies left. Just something to keep in mind if you order that particular dish. Nobody else in the restaurant seemed to have any issues. At dinner, I ordered wine and a fresh seafood platter, which featured oysters, shrimp and ceviche. Simple, but very fresh. I was happy. However, I was VERY jealous of my friend's curry dish. It looked and smelled great... and she said it was delicious. Service was solid both times I dined here. And the decor is very pretty. Nice experience, overall.

'Ama 'ama gets a bad rap, is it because it is on a Disney resort that is hard to get off of? If this same restaurant was in Waikiki, with the same view, amazing service, and delicious food for the price....it would have all four and five star reviews! I ate breakfast here on a Sunday around 9:30 and had the thought to call down from my room for a table (requesting Oceanside). By the time we had walked down, our table was ready, with a stunning Oceanside view of the lagoon. Our server was friendly and perky, but she had a "catchword" that she said way too many times that it started to get on my nerves. My hubby and I each ordered juice, OJ and POG and ordered the meat (Portuguese sausage) and eggs plate and I got the lox and bagel. (each plate $14-16) Both portions were decent sized and my hubby's Portuguese sausage and eggs came with their version of home-style potatoes, little fingerling potatoes with onions and sweet peppers. My lox and bagel was a very impressive elevated take on the classic. It came it herbed boursin cheese instead of cream cheese, 5/6 large slices of lox, sliced onions and tomatoes, fresh dill sprigs, and capers the size of large olives. After I assembled my bagel with each component, my husband tried it and decided he was finally a fan of lox and bagel after trying 'Ama 'ama's take. It had a very unique flavor while still tasting the way I love lox to taste. I can't wait to come back and have it again. 'Ama 'ama is a very nice restaurant on an expensive resort property. Don't expect to pinch pennies when you come here. If you want to save while you're at Aulani, drive over to Kapolei and hit up Costco, mcdonalds, etc. If you are looking to relax, enjoy a great atmosphere and quality Disney service with a beautiful view, then you will love it. I can't wait to try dinner here. TIP: Make reservations, even if you are already on your way. It will save you from sitting and waiting outside the restaurant.

I advise you to make a reservation for either an early breakfast at say, 8am or a dinner at 6pm for a beautiful view of ocean paradise. When I imagine Hawaii, the 8am meal comes to mind with a bright blue sky, warm sun shining over everything in its path, including cool blue waves, and tall palm trees swaying from the breeze. It's absolutely gorgeous and hospitable Lisa bringing over freshly baked Hawaiian pastries makes it perfect (2 each of mini guava fans, coconut creams, orange macadamia nut muffins, and croissants for $8). For breakfast I ordered the July 4th special coconut shrimp eggs benedict with 3 large butterflied shrimp topped with hollandaise sauce and delicious Aulani potatoes salted just right. My family members ordered the egg white omelette with smoked salmon and cream cheese, substituting the island fried rice at no extra charge-- delicious! I was delighted by the slice of pineapple on each plate for dessert. If you wish, you can order a whole papaya with lime wedges, which is customary. We had dinner at 7:30pm two nights before the breakfast. The sun sets around 7pm so we didn't get to enjoy viewing the ocean. I had the kurobuta pork chop, which was so tender and flavorful with mascarpone polenta and some mushrooms. This is most likely cooked with some type of wine or whiskey to mask the pork smell; unfortunately for me, I'm not a big drinker so I knocked out pretty early. Their steak is satisfactory. Breakfast beachside? I'm so there!

Absolutely the best meal I had while at Aulani. I recommend making reservations..but even without reservations, my family of 5 only had to wait 15 minutes to be seated. The view is beyond incredible - especially at sunset. And the food/service were perfection. My family ordered the lobster mac n cheese, ahi tuna poke, tomato soup with gluten free bread, the fresh catch of the day (so good). It is pricey of course, as all Disney things are, but I definitely think the meal, service and view were worth every penny.

So we went here after the gf got spa treatment at Laniwai which she liked very much. The atmosphere was very relaxing and we got a table right at the front of the restaurant so we could see the beach, ocean, and sky. The day was beautiful without any clouds or rain, so the view was magnificent. The food was better than I thought it was going to be since it was a hotel and I am rarely fond of hotel food. We ordered the ahi tataki and chicken wings for appetizers. The ahi was very fresh and the olive oil-soy sauce was very tasty. The chicken wings had a great flavor, but I wished the exterior of the wings were more crispy. The skin was a little soggy. The pipikaula reuben was delicious. The meat, sauerkraut, and russian dressing melded well together. However, the fish tacos (made with hebi) was a little bland. I had to add a lot of lime and salt to make the flavors pop. Plus the slaw and salsa on top of it didn't heighten the flavor of the taco. It was the most expensive dish we ordered and by far the most disappointing. The desserts were top notch. The mocha chantilly cake was one of the better desserts I have had before. The layers of flavor that resonated from the chocolate, layered upon the coffee kanten and macadamia worked nicely together. The second dessert, the lemon grass creme catalana with coconut glace, black sesame nougatine, and fresh coconut shavings was a nice compliment to the chocolate dessert. This one was much lighter and kind of refreshing. It wasn't as powerful in flavors as the chocolate cake. The subtle hints of lemongrass and coconut was nice on my palette. The service was excellent and altogether a nice lunch at the Disney!

Location at the Disney Aulani Property Ate there for Breakfast We got a big party and the guest services was awesome. Food is the same old local food. You have Portuguese sausage eggs and fried rice. But I had to order the Mac Nut Pancakes. I wanted to compare it with other restaurant. It was okay but had better pancakes. But what sold me was the beautiful view of the location. We were overlooking the lagoon and it was a beautiful day at Hawaii nei. I can say I would come back maybe for lunch or dinner. Please check the pics of food and location. Thank you Disney for making my staycation awesome for my Ohana.

After taking a stroll on the beach with my friends we decided to have brunch at 'Ama 'Ama. The food was amazing, the oceanside view was breathtaking, and our food was delicious. I definitely recommend their Daily Local Plate Lunch and their prices were not too bad considering the atmosphere, cuisine, and view. Definitely RECOMMEND visiting if you're in Ko'olina.

The service is very good and the view is lovely, but it doesn't make up for the expensive game of Russian Roulette you get with the food. Go with breakfast or brunch: the food seems more consistent and the view is better (though they often have live music at night). The service really is quite gracious. At one point our 4yo had stomach troubles and I had to shuttle him back and forth to the hotel room. Our server, Wynette, had the kitchen redo my brunch because it was sitting too long and eventually had it wrapped up for me. A separate time for dinner, they were very forgiving of our constant reservation time changes (napping baby) and were able to fit us in when we were finally able to eat. Mele even gave us a free kid's dessert. The food is Hawaiian Regional Cuisine: it is a nice selection of fusion dishes and the fish was typically local and sustainable, but most of the meats were from the mainland. I think the only exception was the Kurobuta Pork, which in retrospect, I wish I tried. The good: Colorado Rack of Lamb, Chickpea Fritter, Ho Farms Tomatoes, Arugula, Roasted Garlic-Thyme Jus, $46. The lamb was good, well prepared.. Slightly gamey, which I liked, but Mele told me that it was less gamey than NZ lambs. Presentation was nice as a giant "meat lollipop." The suggested wine pairing was a Seghesio Zinfindel (Sonoma County), $15, which was fine. Three-Egg Omelette with Aulani Potatoes and Kalua Pig, Spinach, and Tomatoes, $16. No surprises, but tasty and well presented. Island Field Greens with Sea Asparagus, Big Island Hearts of Palm, Watermelon Radish, Heirloom Cherry Tomatoes, and Papaya Seed Vinaigrette, $12. Very fresh, but otherwise not very memorable. The not so good: Kid's Grilled Chicken Dinner, $13. I tried some and the chicken was overcooked and very dry. Big Eye Tuna Poke with Rice Chips and Avocado Mousse, $18. We got this to-go (which they don't normally do, but like I said, their service is quite nice), and the poke was so salted that it was inedible. I'm pretty forgiving of salty food but this was too much even for me. The avocado mousse was also super salty. My wife worried that maybe they were trying to hide poor quality fish this way and not long after she had a bunch of GI issues. I survived ok, so maybe it was psychosomatic, maybe not. 'AMA'AMA Chopped Salad, Crispy Wonton Strips, Bacon, Chopped Tomatoes, Avocado, Egg, Furikake, Capers, and House-made Ranch Dressing, $18. This was also on the to-go order and also super salty. Also, y'know those cute little bottles of capers you get at the market? Salty McDumpmeister must have gotten to that bottle too and unloaded a third of it on the salad after he was done salting it. If you LOVE salt and capers, then this may be the salad for you. Anyways, come here for drinks, breakfast, brunch, maybe lunch, and make sure you eat at the restaurant so your very nice server can replace your dish if Salty gets his hands on it.

What a dramatic improvement! We dined here in June of 2012, it was mediocre Disney food. Not any more! The food and service was outstanding. The ambiance is what I expect from a high end casual resort restaurant. The Maui onion soup is the best I've had the pleasure of eating. The daily special fresh catch was Mahi Mahi, prepared Asian style, and was cooked and seasoned perfectly. My only negative comment is that the staff's uniforms look like cheap orange hospital scrubs. Also be prepared to drop some dough, fresh catch is $45 per, and we spent about $100 per person in our party.

Yelp is getting ridiculous with all the low ratings and negative reviews! I cannot believe some people actually gave this restaurant 1-2 stars, I mean, COME ON!!! We stayed at the Aulani resort over the weekend for a family staycation, the grandparents drove over to also view the resort and we had an impromptu lunch. We were seated for lunch promptly, without any reservations. Staff was very friendly and service was as expected. What was surprising to our entire party was the pricing and portions. The portions were huge, not to mention delicious!!! Totally worth the amount we paid! Everyone was impressed with the quality of food, portion size, and taste. Even my daughter's keiki meal was fantastic! Rice, grilled chicken, veggie sticks, fresh fruit, AND dessert. Everyone had leftovers (except for grandpa). Additional plus: Grandparents used the bill to receive free parking. View is spectacular, and restaurant is kid-friendly (so no worries about your kid screaming). We had such a great time, we went back that night for a dinner date. Again, we were not disappointed. Husband got the steak, I ordered fish, WE BOTH HAD LEFTOVERS! Hubby was amazed that his steak was still delicious the next day AFTER he reheated it in the microwave. Those of you complaining about prices, I dunno what you were expecting at a high end Hawaii resort. You must not eat out much or travel often... We will definitely be back again!!!

Came for pupus and dessert. The staff were great! The shrimp and papaya salad was phenomenal. Lobster mac Au gratin also on point. Schedule dinner late around 830/9 and you can catch the fireworks during your meal.

After seeing all the negative reviews, I felt compelled to write a review from a non pompous/elitest/arrogant viewpoint. I'm about as normal as they come and I'm a straight shooter. I was at Ama Ama for dinner tonight (9/30/14). We had a reservation (to which I noted during the reservation it was our honeymoon) and we were promptly seated at a table at a beautiful table over looking the lagoon/ocean. Our server quickly took our drink order and delivered our drinks. We then placed our appetizer and meal orders. We ordered a lobster Mac and Cheese for an appetizer. My wife had the snapper for her entree and I had the local catch. The lobster mac was good, but it had a very minimal amount of lobster in it. The snapper was very very good and the seafood crust went great on the snapper and with the saffron sauce. My local catch (which I can't remember and/or pronounce the name of) was exceptional. It had a miso glaze on it and was rested on a bed of rizzoto. The portions are great, and I wish we'd had room for dessert. I highly recommend this restaurant to anyone staying here. It is worth every penny. I don't know why people have rated this place bad. It's a million times better than all of the other places people have suggested. In my opinion, take the other reviews with a grain of salt. Being a Vacation Club member I am very familiar with Disney and the incredibly high standards they set. Ama Ama definitely lives up to them.

No Fine dining here. The only thing that is worst than the food is the service. Took 45min to get a our water refilled. Mac and lobster was fishy. Red Snapper had no flavor. The only thing that tasted ok was the mashers that came with the Angus beef and ribs. I would highly recommend to go anywhere else but here.

After some beach time, we decided to have lunch at one of the restaurants inside the Aulani resort. If you spend $35 or more, parking is free for up to 4 hours. Ama Ama looked like the best option. We were promptly seated at a table overlooking the cove and the ocean. The views are quite stunning. The slight breeze wafting through the restaurant made the temperature perfect. Service was very friendly but a little uneven. The menu was a pleasant surprise, being more affordable than you would think for a resort like this. There was a good mix of Hawaiian and classic American dishes. We shared a starter and a couple entrees which the staff courteously split for us onto separate plates. The corn soup with crab chunks was delicious - very much like a chowder. The hamburger and the chopped sales were both delicious. Each had a slight twist to elevate it above the ordinary. The best surprise was the wine list. We got a bottle of champagne for about a 2x markup. It was less than one would pay in San Francisco and here we are at a resort in Hawaii. Overall good choice on this side of the island.

The view from this restaurant is great... Especially if you can catch the sunset, it's breathtaking from this location. In regards to the food, it's good but incredibly overpriced. $50 for a steak and a few potatoes.. Seriously?! The drinks were okay. You're most definitely paying because this restaurant is part of the Disney hotel. And due to this, there are lots of screaming kids to kill the mood. All in all, I would rather sit and watch the sunset from the beach and save the $200...

OMG one of my favorite places to dine at!! The dinner is awesome!! The customer service is good.. Food: Very tasty and what wonderful presentation!! Very clean and the smell of the place is good. No dirty areas spotted. The staff is fully aware of the menu. They always Deliver a awesome dish!! Well Done!!

Wife has loved every meal. Both of Mine have been so so. Snapper awesome. Pork chop was dry and over cooked. Salad with fish awesome, pork sandwich not so much. If we eat here again this stay I guess I'm staying away from the pork items and going with fish. Bit pricy for dinner but the view and service make up for it.

The service was awesome! The food was delicious. You get what you pay for $$$$. Make reservations far in advance or expect to eat in the late evening. This restaurant overlooks the ocean and has an amazing view of the sunset. Be sure to make your reservation during that time!

We were very disappointed in this restaurant. The view is spectacular and service was great but the food was not good ... Especially considering the high (very high) prices. Saving grace was the dessert which actually was amazing. So stop here after you eat somewhere else. Enjoy the view and a dessert.

My husband and I were staying at Aulani, and we had eaten at the Makahiki buffet a couple of nights before. I thought the buffet was a little overpriced, so I was a little concerned about what we'd end up paying at a high-end restaurant that had a spectacular ocean view. But guess what? The prices weren't over-the-top at all! We ate here for breakfast, and the portions were HUGE. My husband ordered the two-egg entree with chicken sausages, and I ordered the Loco Moco. My husband finished his food and was completely satisfied. I ate about a third of my food...and I'm a pregnant lady with a big appetite, and my leftovers lasted me the whole day! So...I'm not sure what other reviewers are talking about when they say that portions were "small". And the view...well, you can't beat the view. It's an open-air restaurant overlooking the beach, so you're definitely getting your money's worth.

I came here for breakfast. Our server was Lisa. The service she provided was excellent. she checked up on us and also was very friendly the entire time. Four stars just for her service! otherwise three stars for the food. The view was beautiful. The food was okay. I wouldn't recommend getting the French toast with chocolate and banana stuffed, it's not as great as everyone says it is. I would say it's not my type of dish but I always love sweet and was disappointed in the French toast. Having tried some of everyone else's dish I would say the friend rice is okay nothing special. The omelette was good. the potatoes was delicious.

Can't beat the view when you're sitting on the veranda looking out into the ocean. We got there in time to watch the sunset and it was beautiful. We ordered virgin pina coladas for the kids, had a couple of cocktails for the adults and ordered the Singaporean shrimp with Thai ketchup and green papaya, Hawaiian tomato soup with truffle oil, field green salad with sea greens and hearts of palm, the monchong fish - which was the catch of the day, Thai seafood curry that is cooked in a bag and served table side with rice, the chocolate aloha and lemon grassy creme brûlée. It was a really good meal and was a wonderful way to end our visit on the island of Oahu. Will go back when we're back in the area.

Disney never disappoints! My family and I ate here during a busy Saturday lunch time but still got seated in a reasonable amount of time. The customer service is great. The view from the restaurant is beautiful as well. I ordered the chicken salad sandwich and it was refreshing and delicious! The kids menu had appealing selections for my son and I didn't hear one complaint about his meal. It was a little pricy, but not for the ko 'olina area and tourist buzz. If possible, make reservations.

Food was great, portions have gotten smaller and the prices have gone up. But you can't beat the view at sunset for dinner. We had the duck confit and seafood platter to start. Duck confit was on a flatbread almost a mini pizza, but tasty. The seafood platter was small, 3 shrimps, alil ceviche, and a crab leg and 2 oysters. Not bad but it was bigger last visit. Had the filet with short rib. Awesome, you can't go wrong with short rib, with a great glass of can. Sauvignon. Perfect medium rare filet, so dam good. Good meal, not great! And chocolate molten cake for dessert with vanilla bean ice cream to end. Breakfast here tomorrow and Roy's tonight for dinner. Monkey pod the other night. Perfect place to watch the sunset and enjoy some food and drink!

Oh 'Ama 'Ama...I really did wanna love you...you awed me with your ambience, and your world class ocean views are arguably the island's best. With every table, tourists, and locals alike either taking video or still shots of the amazing sunset this evening...(including myself) *One star for the amazing ocean view *One star for the world renowned Disney service *One star for the food presentation My daughter was starving after our timeshare tour, so I ordered her the pasta marinara with chicken meatballs off of the kids menu before we ordered drinks, or anything else. They had several "specialty" cocktails on the menu, so we decided to try a few...I asked the server for his recommendations, and went along with it. We ordered the Kiawe Pineapple, which was supposed to have a smoky infused flavor to it...meh. We also ordered the Makai Breeze which had soju and chili pepper water...needless to say, I was intrigued. Again...meh. It tasted like Soju with chili pepper water. Not very impressed. In a last ditch effort...I ordered a third drink...(why I torture myself I have no idea). I ordered a coconut mojito. Okay...you can't screw this up right? It's a mojito for heaven's sake...with coconut. Again...meh. It was better than the other 2 drinks...but definitely not worth $13 a pop! It gives a whole new meaning to "stiff drink". Geez. Onto the food...thank goodness I ordered my daughter's food first, it came out rather quickly, which I was grateful for...that's where being grateful ended...as I began to cut up the chicken meatballs, I realized they were pressed...maybe frozen? I mean seriously? For a fine dining restaurant...you can't make homemade meatballs?!! Tsk...Tsk...and the meatsauce was very bland, and watery...like it came out of a jar. The sad, overboiled, beat up corn on the cob sat on the plate uneaten...poor child devoured the watery concoction of elbow macaroni and "fake" chicken meatballs out of starvation. We ordered the duck confit flatbread as an appetizer. That was pretty tasty...so I was stoked about our entrees. We ordered the fresh catch of the day, whole deep fried moi, and the sirloin with bone marrow. The presentation was gorgeous! The moi was crispy, but the flavor was kinda bland. I prefer Roy's Hawaii Kai's version. The sirloin had no flavor whatsoever...it came with a chimichurri sauce that was kinda bland as well. I normally love chimichurri sauce...well at least the one at Kit 'N Kitchen. The saving grace was the marrow, and amazing truffled french fries! Both were seasoned to perfection! Dessert was a mixed bag...we ordered the Mocha Chantilly cake by suggestion from our server, and the Kalamansi lime semifreddo because it's so rare to see a semifreddo on the menu! I just had to try it! I make Nigella Lawson's honey semifreddo at home! It's delish! My daughter had the cookies and cream Mickey Mouse mousse with banana shake which she seemed to enjoy for the most part. The Chantilly cake was pretty good...and the chocolate gelato it came with was good...not a home run for me, but good. The semifreddo was a disappointment. In my opinion the Kalamansi overpowered the rich, "egginess" of the semifreddo...such a bummer...and the meringue that encompassed the layer of semifreddo like a sandwich had a very strong egg odor...yes I know meringue is made from raw eggs...but it was strangely strong...and completely off putting. I make meringue quite frequently, and never have a problem with the smell! I confess...I ended up eating a bowl of Lucky Charms when I got home to satisfy my sweet tooth. Sad to say, the desserts this evening just didn't cut it for me. Overall, the restaurant is extremely overpriced for the quality and taste of the food. Definitely resort/tourist prices. If it wasn't for the $50 gift card we received from the tour, I would have really winced at our $200 bill. I will travel to the ends of the earth for delicious food, even with bad service! But I can't see paying an arm and a leg for subpar food, and mixed drinks that I can confidently say I make better at home. I'm willing to go back again...if I'm not paying. ;)

Great location, great view, Brittany did an excellent customer service; however, the food is not something i would go back for. Base on that i give it a 2 of 5. I ordered the AmaAma seafood, my husband had the steak, our kids got the spaghetti. Steak was good. My seafood plate - thumbs down. The only thing missing to it are vegetables n its sinigang. The kids spaghetti was just regular spaghetti with meatballs, nothing special to it. Basically our meal was not satisfying.

We came here for my big bday dinner. Nice view but the food is ridiculously overpriced. We eat out all the time & are not cheap by any means but the prices here are just insane! Average meal here is $40-50 without drinks, nothing. If the food choices were to die for okay. But it wasn't. My fish (the special) was okay on the dry side. For the cost it better be cooked to perfection. My hubby's steak was marginally well done when asked for medium. My bday cake thanks to my friend ordering custom was good but not spectacular. We had a nice evening with friends but the food was less than enjoyable. Save your hard earned money & grab a pizza!

The wait staff so slow- we thought she was kidding when she'd be back in ten mins for our bar order. Nope. The bar was the slowest part of the meal, but that was ok. Not part of the restaurant, which is silly. The food was pretty good- our waitress without a shared of good humor or charm. I don't know about you, but $115 for three lunches and three run of the mill cocktails seems a bit overboard. Unimpressed.

We stayed at Aulani for a few nights because my friend is a DVC member and so we were able to stay and check out all the amenities! We came here for breakfast because we heard it was good. We ordered the french press coffee because the waitress said it was Kona coffee and fresh! It was fresh! Definitely try it! I ordered the loco moco and my wife got the vanilla macadamia nut pancakes! Everything tasted really good and the service was nice! Also the view was beautiful with the water in the background! Only downfall it was a little pricey but then again everything in the resort it just expect it!

For our wedding anniversary weekend, we decided to end the weekend with dinner at this restaurant. I made a last minute reservation that afternoon and got a reservation that would be in 2 hours. We went to Aulani an hour early to walk around. We checked in a few minutes before our reservation time and we waited in the waiting area for our table. That evening it was hot and humid waiting for our table. Ten minutes after we checked in, we were seated at a table overlooking one of the lagoons. It was already dark so all we could see were the wave crashing on the rocks bordering the lagoon. I took pictures of our food, but it was too dark. From what I can remember our appetizer was the flatbread with prosciutto and olives. My husband had braised beef and I had the pasta dish with leafy greens with chicken. I liked my husband's dinner better because the leafy greens with my pasta was really bitter. For dessert we ordered the mochi and it was really good. We also got a complimentary chocolate dessert for our anniversary. This is a really nice (and expensive!) restaurant to celebrate special occasions and the service is superb, but when I come again I won't be ordering that pasta dish again. I'm definitely getting their mochi dessert again.

I saw the so-so reviews and was skeptical but since we were staying at the resort we ended up here for breakfast one morning. The views are amazing as is the indoor/outdoor feel you have inside the restaurant. Our waitress at breakfast was very friendly and informative. Hubby got the traditional breakfast (hard to mess that up) and our son got the chocolate milk dipped stuffed french toast (which he LOVED). But I think the BEST dish was what I got -- loco moco. It was the BEST loco moco I've ever had in my life. How can a mere ground beef patty be worthy of that much praise? The patty they use is almost like a meatloaf...it is flavorful and juicy. And the gravy is the perfect topping, not too sweet or too greasy tasting. My hubby kept looking longingly at my plate so I begrudgingly gave him a couple bites but I honestly could've eaten the whole thing myself. I wanted to lick the plate clean. It was that good! We were so impressed we ended up coming back the following evening for dinner. Our server this time around wasn't very friendly and service was definitely slower this time around and not as attentive. Fortunately that was the only downside of the meal. The food, once again, surprised us with its deliciousness. My son and daughter ordered the pizza and ravioli off of the kids' menu. Hubby and I ordered the seafood platter to start. Everything was fresh and delicious (though small in quantity). Then I ordered the house-made cavatelli pasta and hubby ordered the daily fish special which I can't remember the details of any more but I do remember it was seasoned with a miso type glaze. The BEST part of both entree dishes was the shrimp in the pasta dish. It was cooked to absolute perfection. So good it made us realize that all other shrimp we'd had previous were probably overcooked. I wish I had enough room left to try a dessert but we were too full by the end of our meal. If we're lucky enough to stay at Aulani again we'd definitely come back to 'Ama 'Ama for both breakfast and dinner! Kiddo tip: Definitely kid-friendly (obviously, since it is located in the Disney resort). There are kids everywhere so you don't have to feel self-conscious about dining at a nice establishment with kids in tow.

Got married on the beach and decided to eat here after. Didn't need a reservation, they asked if we just got married (I was still in my dress) and they seated us on an ocean view spot! So attentive and they explained the best meals of the day. We got the moon fish (so ono!) and the chantilly chocolate dessert. They went above and beyond and even brought out a "congratulations" tiramisu. :) next time, we're staying here!!!

Went for lunch on a Friday and it wasn't crowded at all, which was nice. What stood out the most was their customer service and the beautiful setting - right on the beach. EVERYONE was really friendly and treated us as if we were the only customers in the restaurant. Our waitress (wish I remembered her name) was so nice and funny too. She gave us honest recommendations about the different menu options. The food was tasty - I had the Kalua Pig Sliders, but I wasn't a big fan of the sauces it came with, so I just ate them plain, which was fine. My grandma liked the mango chutney sauce (one of the three sauces), so she ended up eating it. I also ordered the coconut mojito, which I didn't like. I did get to try the mango sangria though and that was tasty. I wish they had more menu options but I'd eat here again.

Vacationing in KoOlina and made reservations here for my daughters 13th birthday- atmosphere is very relaxed despite the fact this is their nice restaurant - right between the beach and the beach bar- great service, had the duck flatbread for an appetizer which was great, my Hawaiian Snapper was fantastic- my husband and daughter had the fresh seafood special and it was fresh but mixed on the sauce with it- we ordered a birthday cake that was just ok? Very pretty- little bland - the 2 downsides - people very very casual for the atmosphere and it was overly expensive, we probably would not go back.

We had lunch and it was delicious! I ordered the pulled pork sandwich which was actually 3 small sandwiches with different toppings. All of them were super good and it came with sweet potato fries which were also really good. Some others in my party ordered the club sandwich and it was huge! Everyone who had it raved about how good it was. Although our service was great it took a while for our food to come out especially considering the number of people in the restaurant. Normally I might be upset about this but considering the beautiful view I had and the fact I was spending time with my family there I didn't mind at all. If you are staying in Ko Olina you should definitely check this place out as I think it is one of the most beautiful views for a restaurant in the area.

Came here with family and Owen was our server. He was awesome! Well informed, just the right funny, and on point. Definitely made our visit as enjoyable as possible. Food was good, we had a couple different seafood dishes, lamb chops, and some steaks. Everything was enjoyable even my maui onion soup I started with. Actually downloaded yelp again to give props to Owen and the whole exprience! Cheers guys!

This is our second time at Aulani but our first time at this restaurant. Not very crowded, and they sat us right down without a reservation. Even though it is a fancier restaurant, they didn't mind me wearing tshirt, shorts and slippers. The waitress was awesome and very attentive. She gave us some great recommendations and explained anything we had questions about. She even allowed our teenage son to order off of the kids menu. I had the seafood Thai curry...WOW! one of the best seafood dishes I've ever had. It was very flavorful and slightly spicy, but it did not take away from the perfectly cooked scallops and prawns. It came with Jasmine rice which I mixed in with the curry. Very good dish!! My wife had the prime steak with short rib. Excellent cut of meat. It was truly prime beef and could be cut with a fork. The sauce and chutney that it came with was delicious. It could have had a bit more of the mashed potatoes. The Rolls were warm and tasty, but the black salt they sprinkled on the un salted butter was not necessary IMHO. The Hawaiian Manhattan i had to drink was good and strong but also flavorful.

This my second trip to Aulani definitely has lost the mystery and excitement partly due to the resort being over crowded this time and me finding myself trying to find a way to save money this time around if your not ready to empty your pockets then Aulani isn't for you. Don't get me wrong this is a 4 star resort with 5 star prices when I first came one of the towers wasn't open plus they upgraded us for free and half the crowd theses you can't even find a seat near the pool if you don't come extremely early. I have two kids and the line was out the door for sign for activities at aunties house at 7:30 a.m . You can still drop your kids off for basic daycare and play but things like the aloha party and stitch fill up fast. For the grown ups bars close at 10 pm go across the street they close at midnight or better yet buy a bottle and reusable cup to have since you can walk with drinks in a plastic sealed container any where on property even into the resturant. No mater what DO NOT EAT AT MAKAHiKI it's a total rip off its buffet and your asked to tip waitress for total cost of meal even though she only brings you drinks. Ama ama is great and amazing food so it usually booked days in a advanced you can book it 30-60 days in advance.

First time here at Aulani, the wait here was an hour. We were apologized to for the long wait and sat. After 10-15 min our waiter finally came, I ordered the seafood boil, expecting to see seafood. This meal cost $37 and I got about 5-6 pieces of seafood. and not large pieces but very small clams, oysters, and shrimp. They threw in a couple slices of corn literal slices of a corn on the cob and some very small potatoes. All in all just an okay place I won't be returning to this restaurant

Four stars for their crab & corn chowder! Thank goodness for the seemingly endless portion in its beautiful, asymmetrical ceramic bowl. Loved the mild crab flavor & the saltiness of the soup. My sandwich was overstuffed with a meat filling similar to pastrami (bf was more than happy to take some off my hands.) I found the texture chewier than pastrami. Savory thanks to the russian dressing. Marbled rye was softly toasted. Quite hearty for my palate. Three stars. Sweet potato fries needed seasoning and/or a unique sauce to jazz it up. If you're looking to share an entree (or if you're extra hungry), consider ordering the "daily local plate lunch," as it looked like a heaping portion of some of hawaii's most known-for dishes. Service issue: one person in our party ordered grilled fish tacos & didn't get them until 15 minutes after we'd all been served our (IMO, more complicated to make) dishes. We joked that they were still catching the fish (we were spitting distance from the hotel's private lagoon.) And although my fellow diner was gracious & patient, I find it inexcusable for a resort of this caliber. Someone dropped the ball somewhere. Thank you to my amazing fam bam for lunch.

Really sad! Just got to Aulani and food sucks? Got a bottle of Far Niente Chardonnay, it was almost room temp. Had to leave it on ice for a while. Hostesses are snooty, not too inviting! Niçoise salad sucks! Fries are cold! Chopped salad was a decent try! Our server was sweet, yet not trained. Will be eating off site tomorrow! Which sucks...

We went out for a romantic dinner last night and I was a little worried due to some of the bad reviews . Thankfully I didn't need to be. It was very quiet, romantic and the food was delicious.

Good compared to the other restaurants available in the area. We stayed at the JW Marriott and were disappointed by the restaurants in our hotel, we ventured out to the surrounding resorts for meals. We ate at 'Ama 'Ama grill 3 times and it was hit and miss. Here are the items we tried: Ahi sashimi - delicious, shaved garlic topping was yummy Roasted pepper panini - very good, shoe string fries were great Strawberry julep - bad, way too much bourbon, barely drinkable Haupia Mojito - ok, not much coconut flavor Mango Sangria - good, not too sweet, mild mango flavor Kahlua pork buns - bao style, too much meat for the size of the buns but ok. I actually got pretty sick a few hours after lunch and I suspect it was from this dish :X Catch of the day - Mahjong w/ pesto risotto - fish had an odd texture, ok dish but would not order again. Portuguese sausage breakfast - not thrilled with this dish, sent to back to the kitchen. They cut their Portuguese sausage lengthwise, which I can't stand, I couldn't eat it, the texture just disgusted me. But they did replace my dish with another with no issue. 3 egg breakfast w/ bacon - typical breakfast, good but nothing special. Waffle - 3 stars, the waffle batter had good flavor but the outside texture was not crisp, it was spongy. Overall I would eat here again but I would stick to the favorite dishes and stay away from the specials and breakfast.

Overpriced and small portions. It was also My wife's birthday and I told them a few times prior but they did nothing special or even acknowledged the occasion.

Breakfast: 5.0 Stars Dinner: 2.5 Stars Staying at Aulani, we ate breakfast here three of our days and every single day was delicious and great! Gorgeous place, overlooking the cove, diverse menu with many options (price-wise and health-wise), we ate most of the breakfast menu between four people over three days so I can say everything was good to great! Kids loved the haupia French toast and the velvet strawberry pancakes, lots of real Hawaiian food such as the Portuguese sausage (side order) and fresh papaya served perfectly. Breakfast service was also good, we had different people and they were all really good -- on the last day we got some upsell pressure that went a bit too far ("really? no mimosas? no bloody marys?"). All in all a great alternative if you're not the "loud character buffet first thing in the morning" type of person. Dinner was a different story. Service was super slow and did not seem to care. "Fresh sourdough rolls" were cold stale bread brought with frozen butter. Food (lobster mac YUM, salad and flatbread meh, kids meal short rib good) was pretty good but hard to swallow without water ;-(. We finally asked for the check and the server made a huge deal about how the kids' meal came with ice cream, so we let her bring it to go and she acted like this was an act of heroism LOL.

Probably one of the best Loco Moco's I have had on the island and I have had it at a lot of places. Great service too.

Enjoyed dinner here. Snapper and NY strip were delicious and cooked perfectly. It's a good thing too - since our server Cheryl went MIA after she delivered special salts for the bread basket. Some guy delivered our dinner plates... And then no one checked on us til our plates were empty. This included NO refresh of our water glasses - even though they ran dry before dinner. There were several open tables so I'm not sure what the lack of service was all about. Bottom line- great food, cooked perfectly. Big caution- pricey ($45 per entree) and NON EXISTENT service.

The view is pretty, but that's about it. $21.95 for a plate lunch special that wasn't that special, really? It was spaghetti noodles in a cream sauce with a couple of pieces beef and some Texas toast. Give me some ragu Alfredo sauce, noodles, steak umm and Pepperidge farm toast with garlic butter and I can whip the same thing up in five minutes. The bacon cheeseburger was dry and flavorless. You'd think that was a tofu burger! Fries were the best thing I ate. And the skinny haupia mojito? It's "skinny" because it's flavorless as well! Too expenSive for average food and slow service. Don't do it unless you're too lazy to leave the resort. In that case, just order room service.

This place is a wonderful place to eat in the Aulani resort. There was virtually no wait time to get a table even though we didn't have prior reservations. It is a bit pricy though but the view is amazing. We were lucky enough to get a table at the farthest forward so that we had an unobstructed view of the beach and the sun setting. The sun, though does set a bit more towards the other resort so you don't actually see it going over the horizon but the view was nonetheless spectacular. Price was expensive as I mentioned. Now I have kids that I took to Aulani so I am not a child hater but I did decided to leave them with the baby sitting service Aulani had so that I could enjoy this remarkable dinner. Others didn't think far ahead so that I was sitting next to a screaming child. Mind you, I am a parent, I love kids, but the meals were all pretty pricy that I felt that I should be able to enjoy it without having a screaming child. I know, I'm being picky and this wasn't necessarily the restaurants problem but wanted to share that there are a lot of parents that bring their kids into this place. The drinks were plenty strong. At other places in the resort they were pretty stingy with their alcohol but here they cranked it up to awesome proportions. One drink was enough to get me relaxed. I'm not sure if it was just a good day for the bartender but when I went here it was plenty strong. So you do get your monies worth. The food was pretty good. I had a curry type of dish and it was placed in a bag and opened up at the table. I was told this was to preserve the flavor and the smell. I really didn't like seeing my food coming out of a plastic bag since it honestly looked messy and I felt like it was coming out of a garbage bag. All in all though it was delicious. Very flavorful and large portions. I wasn't able to eat the whole thing. This place is worth going to but see if you can get a table that is in the front so that you can clearly see the sights of Hawaii. You won't be disappointed!

A great alternative to the buffet monotony at Aulani. They don't handle the reservation system very well, book 16 got 8. This was ultimately corrected. The food is great and the service is what you expect, nothing more, nothing less. The onion soup is amazing and a must have. Stick with the fish to experience truly tasty options. If they have a whole fish option this is a must order. The bread is great and they offer local salts to add to the butter.

Had breakfast here 3 times on our 10 day vacation! The service has been completely wonderful and we love the table near the fountain closest to the ocean! Relaxing, and soo enjoyable! We love our waiter Omar and waitress Liane! They have been absolutely the best each time we have been there. The omelettes and egg Benedict's are all superb. We have had a marvelous time talking to the staff, eating wonderfully fresh food, and being allowed to relax in a incredible place in Ko' Olina!

Came in for breakfast... It was actually really good! I was a little skeptical because of the yelp reviews but decide to come anyway since it was a short walk from our hotel. I had the two eggs and Portuguese sausage, substitute potatoes with fried rice. The eggs must have been xxl eggs because the portion was huge! I really enjoyed it. Glad I subbed for the fried rice. My husband had the Belgium Waffle. He enjoyed it, it came with a variety of toppings! Service was excellent! Our waitress Mahea was sweet and friendly as was the hostess In the front! Would def return, my husband wants to try dinner next time!

We had dinner here on Friday (1/23), our last night in Hawaii. We were staying at the Marriott and accessed the Disney property from the lagoon promenade for our 7:30 reservation. The atmosphere was nice (even with showers in the area and animated story-telling nearby) and service was professional. We had the lomi-lomi (fish wrapped in tea leaves) and the seafood stew. Both were very good and quite large portions. The Jordan Chardonnay was good, too. The meal was very good, but very expensive.

For breakfast, 4 stars; lunch maybe 3.5. Did not go for dinner. We have been to Ama Ama about a dozen times over two trips to Aulani. Most of those meals were breakfast with a few for lunch. Breakfast for us usually consisted of the Hawaiian Bread basket, the fruit plate and the fruit crepes. The bread basket was consistently delicious, the crepes very good and the fruit plate varied from just okay to very good. One thing to note and that (almost) disappointed us is that if you eat a late breakfast they run out of the breads. This happened to us twice and both times we had to call over a manager who did resolve the problem (by getting the Hawaiian breads from other restaurants). The customer service is excellent. Lunch was okay. Among the foods we sampled were the Kalua pulled pork sandwich (good), the Panini with tomato/mozzarella/peppers/pesto (very good) and the crab and corn chowder (excellent). As an appetizer, the chicken wings were very good - slight kick and sweet. The views are wonderful. Ask for a table along the open windows facing the water.

Day: My brother and I are disney fanatics so when he came to visit, this was one of our first spots we knew we had to go! Once we got to the hotel, we checked out all the restaurants and decided on ama ama without checking yelp Parking: You can park in the guest parking that is on your immediate right hand side, contrary to the sign, you don't need a key, but you do need validation. Spend $35 or more anywhere in the resort and your parking is free Once we got to Ama ama we asked to explored the menu, and the host was extremely friendly, complimented us on our attire, the weather and a lot of other small talk that was wonderful and oh so lovely disney like! We decided that by their demeanor alone we would dine here for lunch. The decor in this area is stunning, its contemporary, natural with a hint of polynesian. Lots of wood, water and flowers that all flow so well together. I loved it, it was so aesthetically pleasing. Seating: The view is breath taking, our table was right at the edge and overlooked the lagoon. It was a slightly rainy/sunny day but our waitress made sure that we were comfortable. There was a lot of seating for lunch, so I don't think the wait would ever be that long Service: Its disney and with all things disney you expect top notch 1000% all eyes on you service and this is truly what the ama ama staff delivered. Our waitress pulled our chairs out, placed the napkins in our lap and explained everything to a tee. My glass of water and my brothers POG were never empty and we were constantly being catered to. Several different servers and staff came by to ask us how our meal was and even offered to take pictures. Wonderful, friendly and happy...I love the people here. Food: I ordered the Ahi nicoise salad The salad initially looks small and I was a little sad that my $22 would not be worth it. But as soon as I took a bite, all of that was pushed aside. It was a very filling salad that didn't leave me with a weird taste or the itis, which is always a plus! The tuna was great and fresh and the greens were perfect. I would most definitely order this again if I came here. My brother ordered the pulled pork on steam buns with fries As soon as he took a bite, he was in pulled pork heaven. There were 3 different pulled pork sliders and each one took my brother to a different taste place! He devoured them and was so impressed with the texture, taste and flavors. In most places he thinks that their is a bad meat to bun ratio but with this plate he was happy, just the right amount of both and not overwhelming at all. The fries were also cooked to perfection, super hard and crispy on the outside but soft and fluffy on the inside. Overall: It was a perfect lunch date, We loved it and we would go back, its a first class disney experience that doesn't overwhelm you with the gaudyness that can sometimes come with disney.

Totally thumbs up for the breakfast. I had the best baked fingerling potatoes in my life. Perfectly cooked with nice touch of salt and herbs. The portion is extremely generous and fruits are absolutely delicious and fresh. The price is decent for the quality, the amount and of course the view. We had the crepe, three omelet with kalua pork , kids scrambled egg breakfast and a basket of island baked goods. Everything is made perfect and very reasonably priced.

ah, Ama Ama... this place resides within the Disney Aulani Resort, Oahu. Its has a gorgeous view of the lagoon and the pool. The staff were very welcoming and nice. The dining area was warming with wood chairs, tables, beams, decor... etc. I tried the Traditional Japanese breakfast for the first time. According to my friend, who is a Japanese native, the breakfast is pretty spot on. It is typically what they would have... so kudos to this place for getting it right. It consists of: Misoyaki Island Catch, Tamago, Miso Soup, Steamed Rice, Dried Seaweed, and Pickled Vegetables. I also had a pretty large cup of Hawaiian Blend Mocha topped with whip cream and lightly drizzled with fudge.... yea, it was pretty good. They also have a traditional Loco Moco Breakfast amongst other breakfast entrees. My experience here is overall positive... my only real 'disappointment' is the cost. The Traditional Japanese Breakfast ran at $20... everything else on the menu spans from $12 - 17. Heh, what can I say... its Disney. There are a few other items there for under $10... but those are just your simple yogurt with granola or maybe an oatmeal.

Went here for lunch and almost didn't get seated because half of the restaurant got flooded from the heavy downpour that occured that day. They were only seating hotel guest, since i refused to pay the $35 Valet fee, i pulled the "Why can't i get a table?? Is it because i'm local card" and it worked, minute later i got a table. My friend and i sat in our table and waited for about 5mins before out waiter came and ask how were doing, got our drink order and came back with it 10mins later then finally got our food order. 20min later we got our starters. For starters, we ordered the Thai Chicken wings and i ordered the Kahuku Corn Chowder, the chicken wings was good, too sweet for me but still good. The Chowder was good, perfect for the weather. For out main course, My friend ordered the Harris Burger and i ordered the "catch of the day" special, i forgot what was on it but it was good. Since it was my friends Bday, he got a complimentary bday cake. Tiramisu, Chocolate Ice Cream, and Chantilly Cake and i ordered the Lime Creme Brule. Overall it was a good experience, I give the dining room and view: 5 Stars, Service/Staff: 2 Stars, Food: 4 Stars and the Price: 3 Stars. It's a little pricey but still a good place to go once in a while.

The food was decent, but overpriced for the taste. I ordered the pork chop at $36 and my husband ordered the New York strip for $44. You are paying for beach front location, good presentation, and convenience on the resort. My husband and I ate at a restaurant in Waikiki that was cheaper and the food was much better. I would skip this place and grab a meal in Waikiki if you plan on spending an evening in the city.

This is our second time visiting Aulani and both times we have had breakfast every morning at AMA AMA. They have a great variety of breakfast foods so each day we had something interesting to eat. Each day there is a different type of Eggs Benedict like 'Corned Beef Hash' or 'Mediterranean'. The red velvet pancakes are a decadent breakfast treat. The restaurant is outdoor under a thatched roof with a beautiful view of the ocean. A great way to start each day....

Had dinner with the family and was forgetable. Nice setting to have dinner but expect more from a resort that charges the prices Ama Ama charges. We ordered Mac and cheese app, lamb chops, strip loin and pasta dish. Just really nothing to write home about. Server was good but seemed over the top with how great everything was on the menu. Dinner to almost 1 hour to get to us after ordered. No communication if there was an issue with the kitchen, just waited. I would suggest somewhere else for these prices. Love Aulani so this was disappointing.

This place has the perfect view on a beautiful day, but honestly, that's just all it is. I came here for a friends bridal shower during the day and i don't think i would actually venture here if it wasn't for her. The restaurant overlooks the lagoon area, and it's scenery leaves you breathless and happy. (Really, i was happy instantly seeing this) The food is just okay. Me and my friend split a salad and a burger. It's pretty pricy but i guess you really are paying for the view. I don't recommend coming here for amazing food to be blown away and also don't come during lunch....i want to say around 2ishh? the pool is located right next to the restaurant and they have a show around that time which i get it, it's great for kids, but not when you're trying to enjoy your lunch and talk with friends.

I was a disappointed in this place. The setting is nice. Staff was friendly but not super attentive. The food was OK but nothing great. The Drinks were terrible. The desert was excellent. The prices were extremely expensive. We went with the dinner for 2 Chef special. The app sampler was decent but nothing I would come back to have again. The entree, Chateaubriand, was good but nothing special to make it memorable or worth talking about. We had the Kona chocolate mouse layer cake and that was fantastic. The cocktails were two sweet and strong to be enjoyed. I had one sip of my cucumber lychee fizz and it was undrinkable. My wife had a punch that she enjoyed but I found to have too much going on in to enjoy it. Overall it was OK meal but definitely isn't worth the 200 bucks it cost.

When we wandered into Aulani for lunch, we were presented with two options. Either enjoy our casual setting at the bar, or our fine dining experience, AMA AMA. Well there were no seats at the bar so it didn't feel like much of a choice. Honestly, not related to Ama Ama, but Off the Hook needs a host... really. it's so chaotic. We waited about 5 minutes for the hostess to return to take our names down. at 1 pm on a Sunday, we had about a 15 minute wait. With this restaurant right next to Off the Hook, I would hardly call this fine dining. Disney has their own definition of fine dining (usually defined as waiter service at a minimum) so I will not complain. They get a 3 star though because the service left something to be desired. We had family waiting for us back at the Marriott, and our lunch took so lunch to sit through, they thought we traveled into town for lunch. We ordered immediately when the waitress first arrived and it took us over an hour for lunch. We didn't order anything extravagant either. We ordered the chuck burger and turkey club. The turkey club was standard fare. Nothing to note. I did enjoy the sweet potato fries substitution instead of regular fries. My husband really enjoyed his chuck burger, but the pickled vegetables left a very odd taste in my mouth to complement the burger. I did not like it. Two sandwiches, one beer and one glass of champagne = $55. For that price, they should have made up for it in ambience and service. It lacked both. Since the food wasn't bad, they get 3 stars, a very shaky 3 stars.

We were staying at the neighboring JW Marriott, sharing a lagoon with Aulani. We wanted to try an eating establishment for lunch, something informal so we could resume our beach afternoon. Our timing was great, because we were seated at the top of the lunch hour and we got to sit close to the waterside as much as possible. I ordered a burger, my mom ordered the salad, and my dad ordered the vegetarian panini. We all enjoyed our selections quite well. Even our server was super nice too. I was surprised at how absent Disney theming was in general, but it was a nice change. The furnishings and cute semi outdoor structure was an added plus too.

Had breakfast here during one day of my stay. Got corned beef with local fried rice. They use pilaf instead of rice for the "Local" fried rice so it didn't seem too local, but it was tasty so that was ok. The corned beef was the usual type from a can, but I like that :-) It came with a poached egg which was too vinegary for me from the vinegar in the water. I would ask for over easy or sunny side up egg next time. Had enough to take back to the room for a snack later on. It was about $20 for myself only so not cheap, but to go and enjoy the quiet morning on the cove was certainly a treat for one day of my stay at the Aulani. It wasn't packed when I went around 7 and it wasn't too hot and the view was great!

We had breakfast here a few times during our stay. The RED VELVET PANCAKES are addictive. I also enjoyed the omelette. I was a bit concerned about the Kahlua and spinach, but the flavors blended beautifully. We always had the ocean as our background and the staff was friendly. Tried dinner and could never get past the 45 minute wait, but it always smelled great and they had a definite vibe...like vacation meets romance meets Aulani! Give it a try. Prices were reasonable and I enjoyed every moment of our time here. Why go on vacation to gripe about the price of food. Either enjoy it or go across the street to the HOT and HUMID Monkey Pod.

Catching up on the Oahu reviews. Typical resort type restaurant with the resort prices. I was pleasantly surprised by the wide range of dishes on the menu. Guests and I had the following: Princess ordered the pan seared halibut with white wine foam, artichoke heart corn lobster fricasse. Also had the pineapple creme brulee for dessert. I ordered the thai basil seafood curry cooked in a pouch. Flavors were robust and thoroughly exceeded expectations. Others in our party opt for the 28oz ribeye set dinner for 2. This had lots of appetizers, samplers and side dishes. Pork chop was also ordered - "best pork chop ever" was the quote from our friend. Service is excellent. Restaurant was not overly crowded at all at 9pm - very surprising. Ama Ama is definitely not what you would call "local fare", which may account for the lack of customers.

Leave it up to disney to charge you $20 for fish tacos (no sides, just 2 tacos). food was good, but not for the price we paid. i've had better fish tacos at the taqueria for $1.50 EACH! you're definitely paying for the brand name here. it is a nice restaurant with a great view of the lagoon/beach. their banana bread pudding was delicious! $10 on a positive note, i ordered a mai tai and it was made STRONG. and i'm a chick who likes strong drinks... whiskey on the rocks please. during vacation i like to enjoy fruity, light cocktails... so yeah, Ama Ama gets a high five for not skimping on liquor.

I ordered the Grilled Kurobuta Pork Chop for dinner. It was really juicy and delicious so that was a plus. My biggest complaint is that it took forever to order. After sitting down, it took about 20 minutes for the lady to come over and take our order. It must have taken another 30 minutes to get the order. It wasn't crowded either so I don't know what the deal was. Hard to imagine that a place like this would be understaffed. Other than that, our waitress was friendly.

We had reservations for 5:45 and got an outside table overlooking the beach. We are not fish people but the steaks were amazing. We got the chopped salad & they split it in half for my husband and I. My kids said their ravioli and chicken fingers were great. Save room for dessert. My son loved the mickey cookie and shake. My daughter loved the molten cake. Dinner is pricey @ $165 for 4 of us but the food was delicious and worth it. They said the dress code was dinner casual but it was varied. Most people wore shorts/polos but I saw some people with cutoffs and board shorts.

This review is SPECIFICALLY of Ama'Ama's new VEGETARIAN/VEGAN dinner menu, which was outstanding; definitely worth a visit for any veg/vegan OR standard-fare eater. Just stayed over TGiving weekend 2014 and, despite trepidations about finding GOOD veg food at Disney (which were partly proven right at their other restaurants/across the site - typical unhealthy fare catering to American vacationers), we discovered that their nice beach-facing restaurant, AMA'AMA, has just added a completely vegetarian/vegan menu with an array of gourmet, well-structured and incredibly flavorful dishes. We're particular and ended up eating there twice. Beyond the lovely menu, it was extra-refreshing to visit a regular resort restaurant with an entire veg menu -- no asking 20 questions to ID what was vegetarian; getting at what might taste ok with some ingredients left off; facing a plate of dull side dishes; or worse, having to seek out only aging-hippie-alfalfa-based restaurants to find decent food. This menu is a bit new thing to the resort, vs just a few items before, so staff still doesn't know much about it - we bent the ears of the concierge and wait staff to be sure they'd try and recommend it. It's a menu anyone would love! KUDOS to this chef! And, frankly, to Disney for going healthier and making Vegetarian a mainstream element of this restaurant. I'd love to hear what non-veg-goers think of the dishes, please.

This place is really expensive but the food is overly delicious! If you can dine there right at sunset, the view is unbelievable. The husband had the pork and it was huge and very juicy. The kid had the steak and for once she ate the entire thing. I had the fish and it was fantastic. The portions are perfect and if you can afford it, also have the salad. There are several to choose from and they are all great. Don't forget to order the chocolate cake for dessert. It's a must-have!

The food at Aulani is very hit and miss, with the buffet restaurant being a dreadful miss. This restaurant has some big things going for it: terrific ocean views, interesting layout, friendly (if stretched thin) waitstaff, delicious steaks cooked perfectly, generous portions. Downside: the prices are outrageous -- at least $10 more per entree than any surrounding restaurant we visited.

My dad took my grandma and I to Aulani's 'Ama 'Ama Room for belated Mother's Day. It was my first time there and their second! Cons: Our reservation was at 5:15 pm and I had requested that we have an ocean view. Fortunately, we were able to get that view, except even though the sun shades were down, it was still very hot and the sun was getting into my grandma's eyes :/ In addition, while we were eating, there were a couple of flies that were lingering around not only by our table but others around us, as well. It was a little annoying but the Pros definitely weighed out the Cons! Pros: 1. The service was really fast and out server was really friendly. 2. The ambience of the restaurant was really laid back but at the same time, very sophisticated! 3. While waiting for our food, we were able to enjoy relaxing Hawaiian music as well as some musicians that were putting their own local twist on some Disney songs (for example: "A Whole New World", "You've Got A Friend In Me", "You'll be in My Heart"). It was actually very nice!! 4. For the appetizer, we chose to share the "Shaved Serrano Ham Flatbread topped with olives, Manchego Cheese, Maui Onion with Roasted Garlic and a Red Chimichurri Sauce"! I totally recommend that to all you Yelpers because it was light, FULL of flavor, and just plain yummy. 5. For my entree, I chose the "Harris Ranch Natural Angus New York Striploin with sautéed locally grown veggies and potatoes fingerlings"! I ordered it medium well and even though it was a little tough, it was very tasty! 6. Finally, for dessert, we all ordered the "Chocolate Cake"! This dessert was probably the best dessert I have ever had in my entire LIFE. It's really hard to explain what it is because it is NOT your average chocolate cake. It's almost like a small circular soufflé/mousse with yummy fudge in the middle wrapped in white and milk chocolate with this AMAZING brittle on top. It's served with a dab of vanilla ice cream with ground macadamia nuts but you will forget about it. I did and the ice cream melted but oh well! Holy crap, that dessert was so good and it was light! It looks small but it is definitely enough! It's perfection! That is all. Overall, it was such a pleasant experience, and I will definitely come here again! Last minute Yelpful Tips: -Make your dinner reservation online! It was fast and simple! -If you can, try to make your reservation at around 7pm during the summer season or a time when the sun has almost set and it starts to cool down. The ocean view is BEST at that time. -There is a parking lot for visitors who are only going to Aulani for dinner, but we chose to do valet instead because we were running a little late!

Had our anniversary dinner there last night. Appetizer was probably the best thing we had. Macaroni au gratin w lobster - delish. I had the pork chop which was ok. Wife had the mahi mahi which wasn't the best. Service was meh. Server Jackson I believe was never really excited to serve us he was more concerned w the table of 2 girls behind us. Sad given the fact that I had arranged this a month previous for our 25th anniv. We should have gone for the buffet. We spent 9 nights here at aulani and won't be going back to AMA AMA

I had dinner at Ama Ama during my stay at the Aulani Resort. You have to just accept that dinner at any of these resorts will be very pricey. If you do and perhaps go for a special occasion, you won't regret it. The service is very good. Our waitress, Brittany, was super friendly, the right amount of chatty and attentive. She also made great recommendations for wine and dessert choices. I will note that my husband did have to send his NY strip back because it was overcooked but a fresh one, perfectly cooked, came back within just a few minutes. I ordered the cavatelli and it was delicious and perfectly portioned. In general, a lot of food in Oahu is over salted, so this dish was a nice refresher with the right amount of seasoning and most of the flavor coming from the fresh veggies and herbs. The star of the meal was the lime and lavender semifreddo. It was compared to a key lime pie and the flavor is similar but that doesn't really capture the lavender flavor in it which is strong. I wasn't sure how I would like eating something with that flavor but it was a solid choice and very scrumptious. I will also note that the wine selection is very good and they do a good job pairing them with the entrees. Overall, a great dinner option, again for a special occasion or if you are ok with spending a little more.

My family ate lunch there. Food is okay. Service is very slow. With only half the tables occupied, it took 45 mins for our lunch to arrive. $135 for lunch for 2 adults with no alcohol and 2 kids. Not sure about dinner, because we are not going back.

Awesome spectacular customer service by our waiter. I think his name was Noah? But really great guy! Awesome warm personality! My daughter fell asleep and he put two chairs together for her cushioned bed. So nice! Me and hubby had an amazing view of the beach... Menu looks small but everything we ordered was spectacular! The crab legs, the JUMBO shrimp, I love the chicken even though it said chicken breast, it tastes as if they brine it and slow cook it to perfection. Perfect amount of juicy flavor for each bite! The dessert was spectacular too! Every single bite of everything we tried was impeccable! I will dine here again when we stay at the Aulani. Love it!!

A great view with reasonable flavor able food but pricy like any other resorts. The view is just breath taking. After a long swim or bathing in a hot sun, a nice place to cool down. The menu contains variety of dishes which uses local ingredient. Highly recommended if you are in the Ko Olina Area.

We were going to go to a local place that just opened today by our house called russo . But we felt negative people there so we went to ama ama I wanted something close to home since I am still fighting a cold. As it is our 10 year anniversary so I chinned up and went. I was actually pleasantly surprised. Excellent service and good food. A good decision. I recommend this place for ambiance and food. Thanks for the tlc.

LOVED 'AMA 'AMA. After running for shelter when a huge storm blew in at the beach, I went to the hotel Concierge and asked for recommendations for in-house dining. She recommended 'Ama 'Ama. Unfortunately, we did have to go back outside, through the storm, cut through the pool to find the place but it was worth it! 'AMA 'AMA has a nice, clean, contemporary look. It's open, and like most upscale dining in Hawaii, beautiful, breathtaking views of the ocean. Even when we sat inside due to the storm, we were still able to look out to the water and the beach. The service was perfect. We were cold and starving, so the Kahuki Corn and Taro Chowder was the only choice for us. It did the trick. We warmed up and it def hit the spot. I also ordered the 'AMA 'AMA Chopped Salad with the Liliko'i Splash to drink. Loved the drink! But the Furikake on the salad was the icing on the cake for me. I love Furikake. I never thought about having it with salad! My friend ordered the pulled pork sandwich. She didn't say much during the meal, as I assumed she was enjoyed every bite. I was right! She pretty much fell in love with the meal. I dream for when I return to Hawaii. And when I do, I will make a trip to Aulani and more importantly, 'AMA 'AMA!!!

This was a far better choice than the buffet restaurant which we ended up only being able to make reservations for the buffet online, months in advance. So we were quite happy when we were able to squeeze in a walk up reservation. I recommend you book your reservations the moment you decide to go to Aulani, because I could not book anything here, 2 months in advance. As for the food goes, I had a wonderful meal. The cocktails were very satisfying as well as our wines. The children enjoyed their meal and were quite happy with the poke fish. I especially enjoyed the fact that they offered a sustainable fish option, in our case, monggong fish. It was prepared so good and I couldn't believe the meal sizes. The cuts of fish and steak are nearly double anything you would find in LA.

My family gave AMA AMA a try the other night. Everything was fantastic. The food was fresh & incredibly tasty. The Thai seafood curry was beyond delicious. The views were breath taking & the service was outstanding. I highly suggested requesting Theresa to be your server. She's this little bubbly ball of energy. She was so kind & informative. What a great place all around.

My local catch white fish (Min Ching) with its coconut corn sauce and shaved cucumbers and radishes were amazing!! Sunset view of the cove at Disney'sAulani, and I'd am dancing with praise!! Waiting for dessert!

FAIR. For resort. PRICEY. Try once if you have toddler aged kids/grand kids. Anyone else should run far, far and far away to "LOCAL" places. It should be easy to find entrees under $50 for a small portion of Denny's type food with a plumeria garnish on it. The only sacrifice is the drive out of the resort area to nearby Kapolei. Local food and people are why it's nice to be in Hawaii.

I dined here twice last year and I had two totally different experiences! The first time was with my sister and aunty in July. We had met with a DVC rep and while waiting for our paper work to be done, we decided to have lunch here. The restaurant's ambiance is very nice - a modern Hawaiian feel with an open layout and nice beach views. Service was great our first visit there! Friendly hostesses and our waiter was very nice. I had char grilled vegetable sandwich on focaccia, which was huge! Very tasty and filling, it also comes with a choice of sweet potato fries, french fries, or "island field greens"...I chose sweet potato fries. My sister had ahi nicoise salad which looked very delicious - and she said it was! I think my aunty had the daily local plate lunch, or the pulled pork sandwich ... I can't remember! I'm pretty sure she liked her meal also! Our experience there was really great; so when we decided to have a family staycation at Aulani (again!) in December, my sister and I wanted to do early check in and have lunch there - just the two of us! She made the reservations online (very convenient) and we were checked in at the hotel and ready for lunch in 15 minutes! Again, the hostesses at the restaurant were very nice and I was ready to have a nice lunch. Our waitress (I wish I could remember her name, but her name tag said she was from Ewa Beach, but she had a European accent); while nice and friendly, seemed to be a little loopy. We ordered cocktails (red wine for her and one of their mixed specialty drinks - the pineapple ginger mist for myself) and our food - I had the blue crab cake sandwich and she had the fish tacos. When she checked our IDs, she actually asked my sister if I was her daughter! WTH! I mean, she is older than me - but only by two years! And if you're really checking our IDs, you'd see the difference! Seriously - who asks that?! I usually hear people asking if mother and daughters are sisters...not the other way around!! Although I found it hilarious that she asked that, it was all down hill from there for the both of us. Our food came out before our drinks, and we had to remind our waitress that we ordered drinks - so she brings my sister a white wine!! She apologizes and comes back with the red, and we jokingly said "That's probably why she's so off...drinking on the job!" The whole meal was kinda weird - she was working a few tables, but not so much that it would be overwhelming. All of the tables she was on, she seemed to want to talk story more than get people their food and drinks. Anyway, I really liked my sandwich and my sister enjoyed her tacos. My drink was pretty good, I couldn't taste any liquor though, and for $8, I was expecting to taste some. Our table was right on the edge of the restaurant with a great view of the beach, but damn those birds! I hate birds and one flew right for me (or my food) - I yelped (like literally; not on my app, but like a scream) pretty loudly! Haha. I would like to come back for dinner one night, I think the ambiance would be very nice for a date with my boyfriend! I wonder why we opted to eat at Makahiki instead of Ama'ama for dinner that weekend...

They really need to work harder on quality of produce and service. Perhaps they need more time to improve their experience. This is supposed to be a fine dinning place and first and foremost, the waiter needs to thorough understand the menu and know everything about the menu items. So I asked the waiter about the rack of lamb and how it is seasoned and cooked. His answer was it is a roasted rack of lamb and couldn't really say more than just that. I should have just gotten up and walk right now. Unfortunately it was my niece's birthday and we got this great reservation for seating right in front of the lagoon. So I had to just let it go. So I ordered the rack of lamb for my son because he heard great things about it from me and wanted to experience it. My other son ordered pork chop, I ordered the New York steak and my wife ordered a salad. The rack of lamb was just a so so grilled rack of lamb. The pork chop was just as so so. The steak and salad were great, but how can you go wrong with steak and salad. In the end, my boys end up sharing my steak. I was so disappointed because the service and food did not match the $$$$ that I paid. Not sure I want to give it a try again.

Limited menu, expensive, but very good food and service. The tuna poke and Serrano ham are good starters. The fish of the day tasty. The 8oz beef w short ribs was great. I would recommend this place.

Decent but not out of the ordinary. My wife and I just finished a beautiful weekend getaway to Aulani. Our first stop was Ama Ama. Customer Service: 3STARS Hostesses were very friendly and polite. However our waiter was nothing special, and was average considering that this Restaurant is supposedly a fine dining one. Food: 3 STARS We ate twice here, breakfast, and lunch the next day. Ordered an Angus burger and Sandwich. Nothing great, had better burgers at other Restaurants. Peanut Butter And Haupia French Toast was pretty good. All in all food is average, just presented in a fancy way. Ambiance is pretty good, overlooking the beach.

Not sure where to go with the rating... I think I'm arond 3 1/2 to 4 stars. I did go in with low expectations based on the yelp reviews I read. I was invited to Ama Ama through work. The pupus were already ordered. Seafood appetizer, flatbread w/serrano ham, poke and cobb salad. The flatbread was the best. Delish! Poke was ok but nothing outstanding. Seafood platter was good but I only had the shrimp. Cobb salad was a little overdressed but very tasty. For dinner I started with the burrata. I love burrata. I think I could eat multiple burrata servings and a flatbread for dinner. =) The burrata is somewhat cut up so it's not in a ball where you can cut in and see the cream ooze out but it tastes equally as delicious. I had Hawaiian snapper for my entree. It was better than expected but nothing to write home about either. For dessert I ordered the Mickey moose cookie off the kid's menu (thanks Yelpers for the tip!). It was very rich and came with a "shot" of banana shake which was the highlight! Drinks were good too although if I were paying, not sure I'd spring $10+ for each drink. Overall better than I expected with Disney-quality service. =)

I went to lunch at Ama Ama @Aulani since it was new. Reservations were made via the Aulani website at noon. Restaurant opens at 11:30am. Arrived on time and was given a pager to wait. I told them I had a reservation but they said they were behind. After only 1/2 HR? That was strange. After waiting 25 minutes, I went to talk to the manager. What was the point of making a reservation? He couldn't even tell me when we would be seated. Half of the restaurant was empty! The only saving grace was the food, which was fine. They obviously have a lot to learn about managing a restaurant and customer service. A lot of staff just standing around and no communication. Oh and BTW if you go to the beach they make you go around the resort to get your valet parked car. They said access was for hotel guests only. I guess it didn't matter that we spent $120 at lunch. Aulani fails regarding the Disney brand. Poor investment!

If you got bored of the Disney Character breakfast buffet there is also this place its ala carte style. They have all sort of stuff from american to Asian style. Highly recommend you make reservation before heading there because the first time we didnt and they gave us this look and told us 20 minutes even if there is plenty of seating....
