Menchie’s Menu

Sorry, We are updating this restaurant menu details.

Went to this Menchie's for a refreshing snack. There is absolutely nothing bad about this place; by the same token, however, there is nothing to push this place into the above average category. The yogurt is pretty much the same as every other frozen yogurt place. I don't have an amazing taste for frozen yogurt, as such can only tell the difference between different flavors (and not between, say, vanilla at different places). The toppings are fresh, and this is the first place I remember seeing azuki beans (think small, candied pinto beans). If you're jonesing for some froyo, by all means, stop here. You can get the same quality elsewhere, however.

A nice thing about this place is that you get little sample cups if you're not yet wanting to commit to a flavor. We go here once in a while and I would say that it's okay. The best flavors I've found were the plain tart, pineapple, and pistachio, although the last couple times I've been here, no pistachio! The flavors rotate, but at least plain tart is always there! They do have a large variety of toppings, and my favorite are the mochi balls. Don't go for the red velvet cake cubes or the fat-free brownies - they're really dry.

Upon entering Menchie's, you are greeted with three things: a) a cashier that welcomes you to the location; b) a hand santizer machine to clean your dirty hands; and c) little sample size cups for you to go around to the different yogurt stations and "try" what you like. Today I opted to try "red velvet"--a fave of mine in cupcake and cheesecake fasion, however the yogurt version was gross! So I opted for my regular--original and taro--ooh yummy! I topped them with 3 different types of nuts--mac, almonds and peanut. My daughter, who is all of five, tried her hand at the sample cups as well and ended up over pulling the handle on the yogurt and overstuffed her little sample cup--all being said, that would've been enough to eat and call it a day, but she wanted the large version and had it filled to the top with chocolate and vanilla, added a load of sprinkles and gummy bears in a rainbow of colors. The place was decently packed but we were still able to get a table and seats--yay!

#53/365 I love froyo so i'm always on the look out for new shops. As for menchies, I like their froyo. They're my second favorite place to get my froyo fix. Their flavors are on the sweeter side (compared to, say, yorgurtland, where their flavors are a bit more on the "tartier" side). So when im craving for something sweeter I opt to come here. The only downside with menchies is that their froyo is always pretty soft so that most times i've been its been kind of "liquid-y" and they melt faster. I also like that they offer fresh made waffle bowls that have a hint of cinnamon. Another thing that I also love about menchies is that they offer a loyalty card where you can rack up points to getting free yogurt ;). Overall, pretty good taste but good business benefits for customers are always a plus!

I came here to get some gift cards for my students who seem to love Menchie's. The cashier was friendly enough. The shop looks clean and seems to get decent foot traffic. The flavors looked interesting, but it was too early for me to crave frozen yogurt. It seems that they pass out toys to kids with purchases?

This place was clean, the employee was nice, and there were a million different options. I enjoyed my mommy/daughter date here. My daughter (8) loved her creation. It's in a convenient place if you happen to be out West like we are! Plus it wasn't very busy when we were there, which I liked...nothing worse than someone huffing and puffing behind you because you're slowing them down!

Just not big on the whole do it yourself yogurt scam. Why should I pay more to serve myself and allow the business to hire less employees? Also when people serve themselves they end up getting a larger portion then they would normally order again driving up the price and calories.

Great Service. As soon as I got in there was only one worker present. But she greated us with a great attitude. Offered sample cups right away:) I went with my Mom, and let me tell you she's a headache in itself. She only went to one yogurt place Yogurtland, so she thought this place was the same thing. She started asking all these random questions. But the employee was being patient with her and explaining everything up to the calorie content. LOL I like the set up and feel of the place a little better than Yogurtland, but I think Yogurtland has better tasting yogurt ;p. All their yogurt machines was stocked with the yogurt listed. The toppings were also stocked good. So you didn't have to wonder "Where the hell is the Cheesecake bites (or watever you like to put with your yogurt) at?!" LOL. Has alot of seating, and a cute little chalk board for your keikis to keep occupied. All in all a great experience. Will be coming back there again when I'm in the area:)

Bottom Line: A nice, clean self-serve yogurt place. Normally, when you go into these self serve yogurt places, they're a little sketchy looking. Either they're dirty from all the people making a mess in these self-serve joints, or they're messy from the people who ask for a "sample" cup, and then take as much as they can without paying. This place seemed a lot cleaner - quite possibly because they get less foot traffic out in Kapolei. In any case, although the place was clean, the yogurt was just about average.

LOVE LOVE LOVE!! I wish they had more carb smart or no sugar flavors but other than that i love them and stop buy once every few weeks for a snack with my husband.

I really can't distinguish Menchies from all the rest... I guess I don't have a very discerning palate when it comes to frozen yogurt. My wife insists their yogurt is a little more watery than others... but I think it may be all in her head. Why the 4 stars? Well, my kids just like menchies. Is it the logo? Is it the chalkboard? Is it because the name is cool for kids? Beats me... but they love it.

When I saw the Li Hing flavor I just HAD to do it. I'm a Li Hing fanatic! And it was worth it. Love this Menchie's because it is always clean and they always give us sample cups!

  • Faren G.

I LOOOOOVE menchies.....MAN!...I think I stood there for 10 minutes just staring at the choices. I came in because my husband and I were on a nice little diet and figured, plain 'ol frozen yogurt wouldn't hurt. Oh boy!...was I wrong. I came out with half chocolate half pistachio cup with cookie dough bites, a lychee, crushed oreos, red velvet cake and cheesecake bites..and...and..well, it could've been worse...there was all kinds of fruits and every candy possible. What I love most is it doesn't matter what you put in your cup, everything is priced by weight. I could've filled my whole cup with cheesecake bites for all they cared! LOL. I have yet to try the other dozens of yogurt flavors...don't worry, I surely will.

Took the kids here last night in an attempt to cool down and sit in some free a/c. Located in the new Kapolei Commons Shopping center, just look for the HUGE NEW Target and it's a couple doors down, next to Aloha Salads. The decor is cute. Lots and lots of tables and chairs for sitting and hanging out. On the left of the "shop" is a chalk board at your disposal. The register is located centrally and the yogurt stations are all behind that. So many flavors to choose from too. We asked for sample cups and she offered us 3. Hello, there are like 20 flavors here!?!?! How are we supposed to try them all? Lol. The lilmiss and I shared: original tart, pineapple tart, and strawberry. Lilman liked the sample of kiwi strawberry we had so he got that. Their toppings aren't so massive though. I've definitely seen more in other places. I normally get mango, but why did their mango NOT look good? Hello isn't that stuff grown locally? We opted for strawberries, blueberries, kiwis, mochi, and cheesecake bites. The kiwi was sour and the cheesecake bits tasted off. As in old and too much stale graham cracker. ICK! So be sure to stay away from those. Lilman got Cap'n Crunch and oreos. He seemed fine by that. Right now they have THE cutest Limited Edition Mechie Plushie available while supplies last. And with the purchase of said plushie you can get 12 oz FREE of froyo. But hello, that oh so cute plushie will set you back $19.99 +tax. HOLY MOLY! I thought for sure it would be a different experience with froyo than I've had in the mainland, afterall this place was voted in Honolulu magazine as being the BEST FROYO on the island. Eh, it was just alright. Tastes like the stuff I get in the mainland. Would I come here again? Probably not. It's pricey at $0.43 an ounce. And again as we all know, an ounce doesn't get you very far. You're better off going across the way to Costco for their berry berry Sundae. And then only charge you $1.50. Sure it's only 2 flavors to choose from, but you certainly get more bang for your buck!

Hawaiian Delight!! Delish. :) oh & cheesecake bites!! I had a 10% OFF coupon from the Taste at Kapolei 2009. It was expired but I didn't realize and the cashier was a bit rude about it. so, whatever.

    (3)
  • Danielle O.

The Hawaiian Delight flavor yogurt is the most refreshing and delicious flavor! The Watermelon Tart and Reese's Peanut Butter Cup round up the top 3 favs. Sign up for their MySmileage card, its their loyalty card that rewards you for each $ amount you spend at Menchie's (except for gift cards). The staff there are always friendly and quick with a "Hello" and offering of a sample cup. They are also quick to clean any messes made and for the most part keep the toppings area clean and stocked.

  • Sharon G.

Got my fix! Definitely hit the spot for something I was looking for! I knew I wanted froyo but I didn't know where to begin! And staying in Kunia this was definitely a convenient location! Sales person immediately greeted us and invited us to sample flavors. This is a must-have for those hot days!

    (4)
  • Ralph R.

We like Menchie's, and our boys love it. Come here for dessert after eating at nearby restaurants. If there is one criticism I have, it's that I may not always find a flavor I like (like vanilla, or strawberry, which I would think would be always available).

    (4)
  • Shirley Mina Y.

My favorite flavors here are the cinnamon, very vanilla, and the cheesecake. They don't have green tea yogurt but they do have Capn Crunch topping (see my Red Mango review). I usually put white chocolate chips and the crushed graham crackers over my yogurt. I do like the frequent purchaser card! They also have a Furlough Friday special and a chalkboard on their back wall. I wrote a message to my students one day to do their reading assignment. I'm not sure if anybody from my class even saw it, but I wrote it just in case one of them walked in and got some yogurt.

  • Sherwin Y.

Better than Yogurtland and Orange Tree.. nuff said... good place to go after the beach!

    (5)
  • Mery A.

Probably the worst frozen yogurt place I've been to. The flavors DO NOT taste like the flavors they are supposed to be , the toppings look like they've been through hell and for the price of froyo you should get amazing taste, quality And service (place is pretty sticky and dirty) Kapolei really needs to invest in a Yogurt land.

I like this location a lot. It's hardly ever crowded, there's tons of parking, the staff is friendly, and there is plenty of inside seating. It's pretty new, so everything looks so clean. I like that it's close to Target and Pet Co. It just puts it all together for me. Their toppings weren't as plentiful as the Ward location, but they had what I like....strawberries, granola, and cookie dough :)

    (4)
  • George T.

The cable car chocolate & silk chocolate are to die for. The toppings are always full & the staff is friendly. Great location, lots of parking, and hardly ever crowded.

Absolutely love Frozen Yogurt! At this Menchie's I wanted to go with the usual Cake batter but decided let's do Island Banana and Peanut Butter Cup. Woot! It was so delicious. I'm very simple so with a sprinkle of some Mini Peanut Butter chips over both flavors, I was in heaven :) I LOVE me some peanut butter chips. Excellent!

  • Bill K.

This place is pretty good I go often... their flavors are better than orange grove as well as their toppings plus their card is an incentive to go... The staff here is pretty good very welcoming and eager to help you. It is always busy but its worth it.

  • Christopher C.

Well worth the hype. I decided I that I deserved a reward for my long day of class, followed by studying at Starbucks, followed by a trip to Target etc etc. Great idea to finally check out the spot everyone talks about. My first experience tonight was great, wonderful flavor selection (I especially liked the pumpkin). The staff was very friendly, it was super clean inside (the hand sanitizer available is a nice touch). Menchie's I'll be back for sure, maybe after another long day

  • Kalani C.

Love this stuff! Felt this location better than that @ Ward. Layout perfect for crowd control. Impressed with the variety of toppings (i.e. red velvet). Taro flavor exceptional here. Overall, better than Yogurtland & Orange Tree.

The thing I like most about Menchie's is the sample cups they give out, so you can try flavors instead of just buying them and *hoping* they taste good. This was especially good for me because I prefer tart froyo and was glad to find out through the sample cups that I don't like most of their flavors.. I think you might like Menchie's if you like TCBY because they have some sweet flavors like Cake Batter, Red Velvet, Dulce de Leche... But they're really too sweet for me. I also didn't like the Mint flavor (feels like I'm eating toothpaste..) and while my sweettoothed siblings enjoyed the tutti frutti-like Hawaiian Delight flavor, there was a definite thumbs down for the Cappuccino flavor. If you like coffee/espresso-flavored things, skip the Cappuccino. The two flavors I always get are original and taro, and they were not too great here. Both were acceptable, but not good enough for me to come back. Also, the mochi tasted... strange... :( 4 cups of froyo (two were 1/3-full at most!) came out to $19. Ouch. Specific to this location, I like that there's always lots of parking and plenty of seating. They also have a long bench outside that I prefer -- don't you get cold when you eat something cold?! I do, so I prefer to sit outside instead of in the AC. The automatic hand sanitizer dispenser is much appreciated, because all those yogurt dispenser handles and spoons for toppings have been touched by a ton of people before you. :x The place is never really full, you can appreciate this if you've ever had to wait 30 minutes in line at the university Yogurtland. In terms of froyo, though, I've definitely had better so I don't think I'll be coming back.

I love the "cinnabon" flavor or whatever its called. Its so good. I never was a fan of frozen yogurt but menchie's won me over. I love the overall look of the place & most of their flavors are very yummy. Its also very convenient & a plus that it's close by a traget.

    (4)
  • Emiko T.

I'm mostly a fan because there's a lack of frozen yogurt options near me, but this place can still stand on its own. Prices are a little steep for yogurt, but if I keep coming back they must not be that bad. Love how they cater to the sweetest of sweet tooths and provide chocolate, cookies and cream, peanut butter, vanilla, cake batter and coffee flavors. Just for their colorful walls and gimmick line "what's your mix?" I think they exceed Yogurtland :)

  • natalie b.

I'm not one that usually goes for frozen yogurt, I prefer high-calorie high-fat when I want a treat (ICE CREAM)... I must say that I do enjoy the flavors of their frozen treat. Though the frozen yogurt is "supposedly" a healthier alternative I can still add on hot fudge, candy, or cake chunks. Yes a win/win situation! Not a huge fan of weigh to pay, my delicious treat can get a bit pricey. All and all I really enjoyed going here.

  • Malia B.

For some odd reason, hearing the name 'Menchies' makes me wanna jump for joy. Probablly because the yogurt awsomely delicious! The restaraunt is clean and neat. It looks like it was wiped down from ceiling to floor with handsanitizer every hour and the staff serves great customer service. This place can not be compared to Orange Tree or whatever you call it.

    (5)
  • Doreen S.

Yogurt is great and taste alot like ice cream. I got to taste strawberry, cookies & cream, and chocolate/vanilla swirl.

    (3)
  • Albert Y.

Love froyo but this place has very sweet tasting frozen yogurt. It doesn't have the tart flavor most froyo places have. It's more TCBY then Pinkberry. Prefer Yogurtland!

    (2)
  • Dean S.

By far the worst of the three yogurt franchises. I do appreciate the fact that there are healthy alternatives, but overall the flavors are all bland. Not much flavor at all. I would rather eat the less healthy more flavorful yogurts at Yogurtland and Orange Tree. Won't be going back here any time soon.

  • Carolyn P.

I'm not sure if our mistake was coming here an hour before closing or if it was just coming here. On a Friday night 75% of the machines were empty. What a boring & minimal selection. The pistachio was almost straight liquid. The toppings were again almost empty. The marshmallow looked like water. This place gets a big fat zero in our book.

Was good doe. Service is always good. New flavors about every two week. Dat peanut butter doe!!

It's a good place to grab frozen yogurt in Kapolei. There's lots of parking, lots of indoor and outdoor seating, and variety of frozen yogurt and toppings to choose from. It's the typical frozen yogurt place and if you're a fan of Menchie's this is the place to go on the west side of Oahu.

This place is filthy. Rubbish cans are full and tables are sticky. Please clean this place up.

  • Lisa C.

My bad habit, but I love it anyway. Today I had the ice cream sandwich flavor mixed with chocolate and vanilla. Lots of hot fudge always seems to make me feel better about splurging on froyo. The only thing im not crazy about is the fruit isn't always fresh. Frozen type strawberries which I can understand, fresh would be very expensive but today the bananas tasted previously frozen, weird. It's still my favorite place and thank you for the Veteran's Day discount.

Like it and love it. Great frozen yogurt with plenty of toppings. Price is decent for what u fill up with. My pup likes it too.

On a hot day like today something cold helps. Ice cream can be a bit too heavy so going for frozen yogurt is a much better idea. This is right down the street from me and I think the only place now in Kapolei for frozen yogurt. I go here once in a while so I see the change is flavors. Some flavors are really good, others not so much. My rating is such because things are good like its nice, clean friendly and some new flavors are good but nothing truly amazing. Still like this place.

Alfred: Bruce, why do we fall? Child Batman: Why? Alfred: So we can learn to pick ourselves back up. Odd opening, I know. But it's how I feel every time I attend a frozen yogurt place. I wanted a healthy alternative to ice cream because I was still hungry after dinner. Frozen yogurt was the best option, but like all things with good intentions, it was bound to lead me to hell. Like Limeberry, Menchies offers the variety of frozen yogurts with tasters available upon request. Chances are if you have been to a frozen yogurt place before you are familiar with the term. I tasted a few and picked out my yogurts. Naturally I go with the normal-ish favors. Vanilla snow and teddy graham cracker. The next part may be disturbing to the fit crowd, but I could not contain myself with the added toppings. Cookie dough bites, rainbow sprinkles, crushed chocolate, Reece's pieces, peach rings, and mini cheesecakes to name most of the toppings covered the top of my ice cream cup. It was the worst and best day of my life.

Great place for quick healthy alternative to ice cream. Fun to make your own creation. Small section of flavors to choose from. Fruity stuff, vanilla, chocolate, etc and plain tart yogurt. Right now they have the Dole brand Lemon which I haven't seen before and it's amazing. We're sad because they just switched out from Dole Pineapple. Bummer we missed it. But the worker said it will come back again. They have a decent amount of toppings to choose from. Not a whole lot but enough to find something you like. The mochi balls are the best!!! Toppings like candies, dried fruit, coconut, cookie crumbs, sprinkles, fresh fruits, tapioca balls, mochi balls. I get a small cup fill it up and get a moderate amount of toppings like fruit and mochi balls my usual total is around $7.00-$8.00. Use the sample cups and sample everything!!!!!! It's fun. I highly recommend you open a rewards card. Each time you earn points and the rewards come fast!!!! $5.00 each time. So far the service is great!

  • Christopher-desiree G.

I like the fact that you can make your own yogurt flavors with toppings! My kids love it too. Although, if you're a true ice cream fan, this is not the place for you. The flavor selection was interesting, from fruit punch to pineapple cake... there were so many toppings to choose from also and the price is all up to you and how heavy your bowl comes out too. Had a great experience there tonight. Clean, appealing, and the girl waorking there (Destiny... I hope I spelled her name correctly) was wonderful! Plus... the iDcard is accepted there! Yay!

I like Menchie's! Lots of flavors, toppings, and samples are at your disposal. I'm guilty of taking advantage of the samples! They leave out a whole tray of sample cups and you're free to use them to try flavors. I have often joked that you could try a little of each flavor and not buy anything! That's bad karma though, so I just try a couple flavors and then choose the one I liked the most. This Menchie's was not busy at all when we arrived. There were just a handful of customers. I opted for the Original Tart and added some fresh fruit and sort of healthy bursting juice balls. It was delicious! I thought it was really neat how they have a chalk board with chalk for people to use. There were some kids using it when we arrived. It said "Hi" and "Bye" when they left. This location has lots of seating with bring green chairs. I like the fun colors and designs of everything. The workers were pleasant and ample parking was right in front.

If you're looking for a go-to place for some sweetness...this is the place to go on the West side of Oahu. It's conveniently located at Kapolei Commons Shopping Center (near Kapolei Target & Ross) with plentiful and easy parking. The tables are surprisingly clean despite the number of kids there. This is a very kid friendly place with indoor and outdoor seating. There is a chalkboard that kids young and old can enjoy (yes, I've been tempted to lure the Michelangelo or graffiti tagging skills out). Overall a very bright and up tempo kind of place (ok, it might have been all the little kids bouncing off the walls from their sugar high). You really can't fail...it's fro-yo in all kinds of flavors. Btw...certain flavors come and go (ex. Taro), I'm not sure how and why but they do. Tons of assorted toppings ranging from fresh fruit, mochi, assorted cereal, crushed candies and cookies, gummy bears and flavor infused balls (you get the picture I'm sure) to add to your frozen yogurt. There's also lo-fat/sugar free yogurt for those who are interested. There are sample "cups" that are available so you can SAMPLE your desired flavor before buying it. You pick your flavor(s) and toppings, they weigh it, you pay and you're good to go. Only downbeat to this is that there aren't too many sugar-free or fat-free flavors available. Additionally, it gets a little hot outdoors with no shade in the summer or late afternoon which makes for a terrible mess. Other than that, it's a great treat.

  • Nat W.

Menchie's is probably the only place in Kapolei you can go for dessert at night. Nowhere else seems to be open late. It is located next to Target conveniently and clean. The frozen yogurt itself is little too watery so you better eat really fast. Flavors seem repetitive and not enough variety. Customer service is always good. I definitely prefer Yogurland over Menchie's but too bad there isn't any in Kapolei.

    (3)
  • Elmarie M.

It was good but not over the top great. I love the many toppings but I wish they had more variety of ice creams. Everytime I come here, it's always with friends. Also, the business is unpredictable. It was go from high to low or low to high.

    (4)
  • Christine G.

I love Menchie's! The yummy flavors are constantly rotating so that every visit can be a new tasty adventure. There are plenty of toppings to choose from: from candy to fresh fruit. The employees here are always welcoming and helpful. I always look forward to going here :-)

  • Leah Y.

In my experience this Menchie's location is always nice and clean--I always see workers wiping down tables or sweeping. Service is okay--not bad however not great either. I do appreciate that there are sample cups left on a tray for customers to taste as they please. The flavors are pretty good and toppings are average. Not the best frozen yogurt spread I've seen, though in a pinch it'll do.

    (3)
  • David C.

Ah Menchie's... I can't give you 3 stars like I intended to. I just have to say the service that I received was sub-par AND I like Cherry on Top better overall. It's a further drive to Pearl City for Cherry on Top, are you willing to go that far? I am. That being said, I really liked your Strawberry Lemonade flavor and was satisfied with the toppings offered.

Location: They are located in the Kapolei Commons Shopping Center next to Aloha Salad. There are tons of parking in this shopping center. Yogurt: The first time I came here was on a Friday night and I was surprise by how many yogurt machines were out of order. They had the basics but no special flavors. The second time I came here there were tons of new flavors but I was disappointed that the one flavor I wanted taste spoiled. Toppings: They have your typical toppings. Some days they have specialty toppings like Girl Scout cookies. I normally like to get brownies, waffle bowl, cookie dough, cheesecake, chocolate chips and etc. The second time I came the brownies were old tasting and the chocolate dipped waffle bowl was stale. Cleanliness: The topping area had toppings all over the counter. The display of the toppings did not look appetizing. The workers should constantly keep this area clean and throw away stale toppings. Discount: They offer 10-15% off with an ID discount card! Overall, I was very disappointed on my second visit here. The cookies and cream yogurt was spoiled, chocolate dipped waffle bowl was stale and the brownies were old. Please check the product you are offering to the customers!

So I usually come here and enjoy my visit, but this most recent time sucked. First of all, the flavors weren't that great. It didn't seem like they had their usual variety of flavors. There were only 2 fruity flavors. Boo. Secondly, there were ants in some of the toppings! Not to mention I found a few dead ants floating in my cup towards the end of eating my froyo :( The girl behind the counter was hunched over the counter, staring off into space and seemed highly uninterested in her job. Perhaps I just came on a bad day.

After going to school in Southern California, the FroYo Capital and home to Pinkberry, Cherry On Top, Yogurtland, Cefiore, 21 Choices, Red Mango, etc., it's hard to get excited about the limited options we have here in Hawaii. But Menchie's is a GREAT available option if you're craving some froyo! There are two types of froyo: Dessert-y and Tart-y. I am partial to the tart flavors with fruit toppings, but some people like the decadent chocolate flavors with brownie bites and hot fudge. Not to fear, Menchie's has both! There are yogurt flavors and toppings for every palate. My favorite flavors (when they're available) are Purely Tart, Pink Lemonade, Lychee Sorbet, and Dole Whip topped with Popping Jelly and Mochi! Weighed by the ounce, the price is determined by how light or heavy handed you are with those toppings! Menchie's also accepts ID cards and has occasional daily specials like Waffle Cone Wednesday!

  • M Karina R.

First time at this location, but Menchie's is my favorite at home. This Menchie's though was not so good. Visited on a Friday night at 9pm. Store was not clean at all. Tables were filthy. Many of the flavors had already been shut down for the night. Staff seemed more interested in performing whatever closing duties they could while the store was still open. The topping bar was dirty. And beware - they do not offer real Oreo's as a topping. It's a horrible knock off and they should be ashamed to call it an Oreo. Just call it Cookies & Cream for crying out loud.

  • Jurija M.

I come from a place where fro-yo is all the rage! In California, many fro-yo shops stay open past 9 PM. They often have plenty of indoor and outdoor seating. The toppings are fresh and endless. My fro-yo in Cali often ends in a mosh of cereal, fruit, and candy because I simply just can not decide! Meeting for fro-yo in Cali is the better alternative to meeting for coffee. Meeting for fro-yo can happen after breakfast and before dinner. Or, if you're normal, fro-yo can strictly stay as a dessert delight. If you're like me, it's typically a late night snack. . . after I've already worked out for the day. SO, it goes like this here. . .this is as good as it gets as far as frozen yogurt and a decent enough place to sit for a moment and indulge in fro-yo goodness on the island. I wish there was more curb appeal here and I wish there were more outdoor tables. But there's not. So this will just have to do. This place is a helluva a lot better than Orange whatever nastiness down in Ewa. BLEH.

Ice cream and toppings are great but what a filthy place! The front door hasn't been wiped in what looks like days and the walls are filthy too. The trash can is all slopped up with ice cream mess and don't get me started on the floors. Needless to say whoever owns this location hasn't made a visit lately or doesn't care about the appearance. I'll take my business to another location bc this one disgusted me!

Super delicious. We went here after spending our day at the Ko'olina lagoons snorkeling and tanning. Pretty much all the machines were in working condition and the flavor combos were sooooo good. All the toppings were full and I used sooo many of them. Sometimes I just wish they had even more!! All the sample cups were laid out neatly and they let us sample as many flavors as we wanted to. Come here, eat Froyo, leave Happy!

What's better than shave ice on a hot day? Frozen yogurt at an air-conditioned shop in Kapolei! Comparing it to the Menchies at Ward, Kapolei's shop is much cleaner and less crowded. And no random sticky-icky unsupervised kids running around using the same cups to "sample" all the flavors! Customer service is always great at this location too. They are not stingy with the sample cups either! On our first visit here, I inquired about topping ingredients since my son has multiple food allergies. The employee went to the back and brought me the actual packages with the nutritional information product labels used. I appreciate the effort she made. I know where they get their dry mochi from, hehe. My kids love the chalkboard too! Such a treat at Menchies!

Lots of flavors and even more toppings! Too bad no strawberry:( Mud pie and honeydew is really good didn't care for German chocolate cake. The mango bubbles didn't look right kinda deflated looking. Nice clean place with lots of seating.

Still my favorite frozen yogurt places....love the original with the mochi.....fair prices cuz you only pay for what you put into your cup. The people here are always nice and polite...both stores...Ward and Kapolei

I had my first new wave froyo experience today with my Fire Ant. We walked in and it was nice and clean inside but the windows out front and the glass doors need a good Windexing! Hand prints of kids sticky fingers were everywhere... But besides that, the staff was friendly yet seemed bored out of their minds. The different samples were nice to taste. We were in a rush so I only got to try 3. I liked the honeydew melon yogurt. That was really refreshing on a hot day. The toppings are fabulous! I got lychee bobba balls, plain mochi, cheesecake bites and graham cracker toppings. They even have Nutella!!! Heaven! I'd definitely come back here when we have more time to sample the rest of the flavors. Great experience!

I love that Menchie's was started locally and has grown to include mainland franchises. Yay local business! This location has tons of parking, ample seating, and is very close to home. I love the self-serve concept with tons of topping offerings. I wasn't too familiar with the flavors but luckily you can request sample cups to help you select your perfect creation. I was feeling something tart and fruity today so I went with the lychee tart/original tart twist and added honeydew mochi balls, strawberries, kiwis, and cheesecake bites. It totally hit the spot! If your eyes are bigger than your stomach, look out for the gigantic cups they give you! Wish they had smaller ones to make portion control a little easier but I guess that is the marketing genius at work.

The place is so cute and welcoming with its pink and green decor and that little mascot guy with the ice cream like bouffant. It's also a nice treat to have especially after shopping around Target, so we just had to stop in. Also, it was free waffle bowl Wednesdays, bonus! They have a good variety of flavors and toppings. I LOVE how they had two no sugar added options and carob chocolate chips. That's nice for me when I'm trying to be somewhat healthy! The guys at the counter are nice and the spoons they give you are so cute too. Call me crazy, but I wiped mine off and saved it for my daughter! My only two complaints, no bathroom and no whip cream:(

Very disappointed that they don't have Irish mint anymore, but still much better than Orange Grove.

This place is just as adorable as the MILILANI LOCATION: *the ambiance *IRENE-the employee working she was so nice & helpful (her hair was cute too, totally matched the work setting), does she work @ every location cause I swear I seen her @ the mililani location too. *PINEAPPLE yogurt is to die for, definitely consistent from the other location.(Gotta love the topping & syrup selection) there is more than enough parking at this location with all that's going on in this shopping center, nicer newer area for sure & closer to home ;) sorry mililani there's a high chance I'll be making my way to this location. Just like MILILANI: price point-you pay for what you get, they weigh it here so if your eyes are bigger than your stomach. make sure to control your hand dropping the lever & putting those yummy toppings on.

Living in HI always puts me in the mood to eat something cool during the warm days and nights. This is the second self serve Menchie's Frozen Yogurt franchise that opened in Oahu which is perfectly located by the new Kapolei Commons shopping complex. Another sunny day brought me here with one of my closest buddy (thanx MK!) where we grabbed our cups and started pouring. With 16 different flavors from fruity to tart to chocolaty, I went straight for the taro and lychee tart. I was kind of disappointed with the consistency of the frozen yogurts. The taro flavor was more creamy and the lychee was more icy. Strange! The dry toppings were inside plastic containers which made it seem a little more sanitary (yeah right!) and the cut up fruits were lined up in a tray. Now the shocking part: the price is $0.43 per ounce! Oucchie! I know you mainland folks are in shock but yes we gotta import everything so the prices are usually inflated. Oh, the price of living in HI!

Refreshing and healthy snack. I love the part that you can customize each treat you make. You can be creative and have something different on each visit. 5 stars, well I have a sweet tooth.

I came in last night around 8PM. I find this location is becoming more and more filthy these past few months. My daughter loves froyo and fell in love with froyo with this location. However, the tables never seem to ever be clean. The cold toppings section ALWAYS looks disarrayed and just plain gross. The end of a serving spoon is always resting on another topping. YUCK. I've been partial to Cherry on Top in Pearl City in recent months. Their toppings are always clean, fresh, and neat and the customer service is always consistent. Last night may be the last time I ever go into Menchie's Kapolei. Sorry.

Menchie's is always great for those times when you have a sweet tooth but want to be a *little* healthier than straight ice cream. With that said, I think they have slowly lost their cool factor. For example, I remember when they first opened, everything was immaculate, you know, in that Tokyo-desert-store sort of way...kind of like Pink Berry. But now......the yogurt stations are messy with spills and drippings, toppings are all over the place, the floors look sticky...what happened Menchie's? Don't get me wrong, the frozen yogurt is still good. But it's as if the employees don't care what the store looks like. Kinda sad.

Great yogurt flavors, I enjoyed the topping choices, refreshing fruits, sweet candies, local mochi treats. I loved it! Yeah! Kind of pricey, but I have come to expect that from a Yogurt place like this. Yelp 365 Challenge: 135/365

I have been going through some serious froyo cravings lately. And I must admit, that I am probably the most boring froyo lover on earth, although I'd rather call myself a froyo purist. In a wonderful world full of froyo flavors and toppings, i hunt for good old "original" flavor like the kind i grew up eating at Yami Yogurt in Ala Moana...and yes, no toppings on my froyo. The only froyo joint in my area that has the my beloved flavor is Menchies in Kapolei Commons. The location and layout of this Menchies is good, and so is the customer service. They are always quick to welcome you as you walk in the door, and offer you sample cups to try their large variety of flavors. I'm not an uppity person with critical reviews of businesses. But I have high standards when it comes to food establishments and cleanliness, especially with a chain-style joint like this. In my opinion, a good froyo joint should be cool, organized, sparkly, bright and spotlessly clean. Unfortunately, I can't say that about this Menchies, because it is absolutely filthy. On my first visit, I thought that perhaps they were really busy and short-staffed, as only one employee was at the register, so I overlooked the fingerprints on every glass surface in the store, and the dirty tables and floors. But the next couple visits have had the same lackluster ambiance and this lack of cleanliness appears to be long-term buildup. There were fingerprints all over the windows and doors, and sticky floors and tables dotted with froyo drippings. The threshold at the entry doors was grimy like it had never been wiped down or cleaned ever. The counter areas around the dispensers were covered in drippings, and the worst part of all was the toppings bar...yuck. The "catch bin" that is built-in to the counter and surrounding molding was disgusting. Although it appeared to have been emptied on occasion, it looked as though it had never been thoroughly cleaned and sanitized. Simple steps to cleanliness seem to be overlooked here and it can't help but make me question the cleanliness of whatever goes on behind those froyo dispensers? I gave it two stars because of the awesome customer service, but it is obvious that the management does not focus much on cleanliness and should consider hiring another employee to manage that critical function in their store. I'm really sad about this because this Menchies was the only one to have my favorite flavor, but I may just stick to the very clean OrangeGrove froyo joint near my house and hope they can satisfy my froyo cravings.

I'll admit it...I've been on a fro yo kick lately. I can't help it. I'm always hot, and I love sweets. At work I have a different fro yo place I go to, but this Menchie's is close to home. I've been to the Ward location before, but have a much better experience here. I always get the plain yogurt no matter where I go. That's just what I like. But, on my first trip here, I was feeling adventurous and got a little bit of cookies and cream as well. Don't let the weird gray color fool you, it's pretty tasty. Second time, I got a tiny bit of irish mint to go with my plain, and that was yummy too, but had a weird after taste. Third time (in three days, mind you), I got plain with graham cracker crumbles. Everything here is super clean, and the staff is very friendly. They are constantly wiping things down, and making sure there is never a mess. There's even hand sanitizer for the clean freaks like me. I hate to admit it, but I am going to be a regular here. Again, it's just too convenient for me to not stop in when I have a mean craving and am not at work.

In one word...YUM! I could not think of any reason NOT to give Menchie's five stars! The place is clean and well kept. The staff are always friendly. They are quick to offer sample cups. Menchie's has a fabulous variety of flavors and toppings. It is clearly stated which are fat free, low fat, etc. Some of their fusions are a tad on the weird side but people seem to like them so maybe I am the weird one? It wouldn't be the first time I have been told that! Toppings are out of this world...especially the fresh fruit. They have a fabulous assortment of sauces from chocolate to caramel to condensed milk. There are a plethora of toppings ranging from nuts to famous dry cereals to mochi and gummy bears. Their fruit is fabulously fresh and their daily selection changes. It is nice that you can personalize each creation. As many flavors as you want. Whatever amount you what. Whatever toppings you want. It's great!! If you want quality fro-yo this is the place to go! (and I wasn't even trying to rhyme!!)

love love love fro-yo! The only thing I dont like is they dont have their own bathroom, and with a 1 year old we get messy hands. Luckily we always have baby wipes! They have so many flavors to choose from and even more toppings...they even have sweetened condensed milk for a topping - yum!! they have some standard flavors as well as some limited time ones which are usually pretty awesome. (think buttered popcorn!) They were doing free waffle cones on wednesdays, not sure if thats still happening. Like most of the places, they charge by weight, but i think they are very reasonably priced... This location usually just has a tray full of sample cups laid out so you can try as many as you'd like (within reason I'm sure). Its in the Target shopping center so parking is great and its a nice little treat after eating Aloha Salads or doing some shopping. Also, they take the ID Card!!

Who doesn't like Mechies? They're so cute with their special plastic spoons. Lots of flavor and they routinely change them out! Love that! and my kids love them too! Lately though... the store is looking kind of old and worn. Clean it up, yo! I'm reading the other posts...perhaps I just went on a bad day? hmmm

Although the yogurt was dripping from the spout, the place was pretty clean. The service was ok, though only had one cashier. There are much more flavors than the other frozen yogurt stores, and I liked them all! The dry toppings were at least covered, and they also had their chocolate, marshmellow and another syrup in a nice hot container instead of a bottle. Though, the gummy bears were hard and there were a variety of different flavored mochi bits but they were all stuck together. At least they have a frequent buyer card, buy 10 and get one free, but you have to meet the 8oz requirement to get your card punched. Menchies, though, is the most expensive (43 cents/oz) of all the yogurt places we tried (cherry on top 39 cents/oz, yogurtland 42cents/oz, yogurt mama 42 cents/oz., but the variety of toppings and the taste of the yogurt is oh so good! They do have a coupon in the 2010 entertainment book, but I didn't have it with me, so couldn't use it. Only thing is they don't have marshmellows like cherry on top or yogurt land, or liquid pops like yogurt mama & yogurt land. Rating the froyos I've been to (listing #1 first) in order, for their overall service, price, froyo taste and flavors, and various toppings: Cherry on top - Pearl City - 39 cents/oz Menchies - Kapolei - 43 cents/oz Yogurt Mama - Kailua - 42 cents/oz Tropical Rush - Market City (heard they're closed) - 42 cents/oz Orange Tree - Waipahu - 42 cents/oz Yogurtland - Aiea - 42 cents/oz

Menchie's has come a long way since it's humble beginnings in California. I visited the first Menchie's (in Encino) during my college days. For some reason, the yogurt at the Kapolei location tasted a lot better than the Ala Moana location, which seemed really watery to me. I usually get a mix of various flavors and was not disappointed. This location was also very clean. I will be back.
