Diabetics at Pizza Hut

Pizza is neither a great meal nor the worst for diabetes. All you need is some fact check and monitoring while ordering your pizza. Diabetics can opt for thin crust or skinny pizza at Pizza Hut and avoid the cheese topping to cut down on the excess fat and sodium. If you have diabetes, then ensure to check your portion size when you order a pizza. One or max. two slices are enough. You can also avoid meat if possible and go for wings as a meat option.

Foods to Avoid at Pizza Hut for Diabetics:

You must avoid Meat Lovers Pizza with Original Pan Crust as it contains over 1000mg sodium and will add 470 calories in your meal. You should also skip Super Supreme Pizza Large Original Pan Slice which is too high in sodium and fat. Chicken wings are often tempting but you must control and restrict yourself from ordering Traditional Honey BBQ Bone-in Wings as it can add up to your sugar levels if you eat too many. On average, a person orders or consumes six chicken wings pieces in a day.

Sides must be avoided at all costs especially if it's Bacon Cheddar Fries with Ranch Dipping Cup for its high sodium content. You must also avoid New York Style Cheesecake with Applesauce as dessert as one slice of this dessert item contains 86g sugar. Pizza Hut also offers other Italian dishes such as Pasta. However, you must skip Spaghetti with Meat Sauce and Meatballs and Garlic Bread as it is too high in sodium and sugar.

High Cholesterol at Pizza Hut

Whether large, medium or small, a pizza can boost your cholesterol levels instantly. You shouldn't eat more than one slice of any pizza your order at Pizza Hut. If you're concerned with your high cholesterol, then it is wise to take your friends to Pizza Hut and share pizza among them slice by slice. You can also try pasta at Pizza Hut but ensure that you are not adding any dressing or extra cheese as you order pasta.

Skip Supreme Pizza Large Original Pan Slice as it contains a high amount of fat and the sodium levels are also very high. Avoid the desserts section completely to limit the fat and sugar intake. We stopped for a late lunch today and would stop again. Like someone else said they were out of some things when we ordered but we made adjustments. The service was just a tick off and the pasta was just a little salty for our tastes. Also, I hate it when a server shows up more frequently and promptly when it is time for the bill. I wish we could have gotten the lady that either manages this place or owns it for our waitress. We saw some other dishes coming out that looked great. The pizza looked excellent along with all of their entree type salads. Don't be afraid to try the pastas because of my review, I ate mine and would again. We sat in the back outside and really enjoyed it.

Being a fan of pizza and having worked at a similar pizza establishment in Kapaa me and a couple of my friends decided to try out Pizzetta's during a Monday Night Football game for the happy hour specials. We got here and chose a table near the awning and was able to watch the game on two tv's near the bar. As it wasn't a busy period with customer's the bartender served as our waiter. The pizzas were being sold at $2 a slice and the beer on tap was, if I can remember, $3 a glass. Solid enough prices for us. We were having a great time until the bartender/waiter gave us a check and wanted us to clearly get out ASAP, seeing as his shift was about to close and he needed to close all his checks. We were greatly offended by this because even though we weren't ready to leave yet he didn't make it a point to at least try and get the other bartender whose shift was about to begin to close us out when we were ready. Because of that his tip was not as good as what it could have been. Other than that, the pizzas were good and the beer was cheap. Would come by again, hopefully we get to fully enjoy ourselves the next time we come though.

My review of Pizzetta is somewhat narrow, but favorable. We went here twice for happy hour. $2.50 draft beers and $2 pizza slices. Let's face it, Kauai is not known for cheap food, so this was a deal and expectations of food quality should be adjusted accordingly. Pizzetta has a nice, open dining area, so you can people watch and enjoy the warm air or watch the football game on the tube. There is a garden patio towards the back, but it wasn't used during the times we were there. Service is hit or miss. Our first night, a male bartender was totally on the ball, offering second drinks, letting us know when happy hour would end, chatting with us only at the right moments. The second night, a female bartender wasn't very friendly or warm, but was pretty efficient. Now the food, I can only comment on the $2 pizza slices. They were pretty large and tasted OK. My guess is that a cheese pizza is premade and the toppings change daily. The happy hour pizza slices certainly aren't gourmet quality, but are perfect for nibbling during football to sop up the alcohol. The tomato and basil slice was simply diced tomatoes and chopped basil tossed on a cheese pizza slice. The mushroom and pepperoni fared a bi better, but not much. All in all, as a happy hour destination, near the coast with pleasant ambiance and good specials, Pizzetta will do.

My wife and I went to Pizzetta twice on our Jan'09 trip to Kauai. First, service is S-L-O-W! Really, really slow for BOTH eat-in AND take-out. We can't really say much about the food since we ordered the same thing both times - a large barbecue chicken pizza. We thoroughly enjoyed the pizza, it was baked perfectly and the sauce was incredible. Eating in, we went at 2pm on a Thursday after flying in from Maui, there was nobody else there and service was still horrendously slow (though the lone server/bartender was friendly enough). Unfortunately, since it was an open-air dining area, there were flies ALL over the place. The second time we went (for take out) was about 8pm on Saturday night and service again was slow though the restaurant definitely was more packed. As for the locale, like others have said, it's a pretty quiet (i.e. dead) area of Kappa except for the vehicle traffic going by on the main Kuhio Highway/ If and when we ever get back to Kauai, we would definitely hit up Pizzetta again just for the BBQ chicken pizza! Highly recommend that you try it too!

This place was actually somewhat decent in the summer of 2008; however, something really changed between then and summer of 2009. I was craving creamy fatty fettucine alfredo with chicken... a really basic dish that NO ONE has an excuse to screw up. Well, they did. Not only was it the worst fettucine alfredo I've ever had, it was among the worst pasta dishes I've ever had, period. It was cold, and the noodles were almost completely dry. I asked for some hot alfredo sauce to try to make the dish pallatable, and they brought a ramekin of something that looked like and had the consistency of skim milk with some parsley floating it in. Two other people in my party got the meat lasagna, which was served as a big, amorphous pile of tomato / meat goo and cheese that looked like slightly digested lasagna with meat sauce. UGH! Terrible, folks... avoid like the plague. Go check out Kaua'i Pasta Company down the road

This place looked appetizing as we'd walked by it a few times. Nice open air seating and a friendly atmosphere. We were wrong. First, we waited a while to get seated since there was only one waitress for the whole joint. Then, she kept running around making excuses, "wait a moment, I need to take their order first over there, then right those folks up, then I can take your order." I don't care. I ordered Shrimp Fettuccine Alfred and it was dreadfully bad. The undercooked the pasta was tough, there was not enough sauce and the shrimp was chewy and seemed like it was a last minute addition from a can. My sister, who doesn't eat seafood was able to nibble on some of the pasta because it had no remnants of shrimp flavor at all. Also, they were out of wine and when we asked where the accompanying bread was, the waitress huffed and lugged out a Tupperware bucket and gave us the last 2 squares of bread. My sister had a salad and that was decent. There is one here in Kirkland and I likely won't visit it. It had potential, but they ruined it with bad service and bad cooking.

It took us over an hour to have two desserts, which is if they were busy, we would have cared, but the place was nearly dead, and we counted at least 5 people working there. As a former server, I try to be tolerant, but I couldn't be here. The desserts were okay, but I wouldn't go back.

Nice looking place right on the highway. Open store front so you can watch people and enjoy the breeze. Service was pretty good considering there was only one person working entire front of place. There were only one onther couple in there. Hate to see what it would be like of they were busy. My wife found a dead fly in her salad but she was quickly taken care of. I had pasta was pretty good. Wife had some kind of chicken pizza with pesto. She said it was excellent. Rest of our group got the calzone. They didn't seem too excited. Besides the mistep with the fly the recovered pretty good. I agree with the other reviews though, it was a little pricy.

This place was really good -- we ended up eating here twice during the week we were on Kauai. I guess all of the snorkeling and surfing we did gave us the kind of appetites that only hearty food like pizza/pasta can cure. Excellent salads (with awesome homemade dressing), an amazing pizza (goat cheese, garlic and spinach) and really tasty pasta dishes. The service was a little slow, but our waiter on the first night really made up for it by giving us some great "local" tips re: things to do and see. Good draft beer selection - Kona Fire Rock is great -- skip the island beer, it was brewed by Pabst and you could tell -- tasted just like PBR. I didn't think it was overpriced at all -- we definitely saw a few locals eating at the bar, something you don't see at the cheesy, overpriced resport places.

After a long day of sightseeing and being on a sailboat ride, my husband and I decided to check this place out as we drove by and saw that the place was busy. The dining area is a casusal ceiling-fanned n concrete-floor italian style pizza joint. We got seated promptly. The menu showcased a puzzling wide variety of dishes ranging from pizza, pasta, fish(grilled ono n such), and even kalua pork n cabbage. I hate to say it, but with a place named Pizzetta, I just am not gonna order Kulua Pork and Cabbage even though that is one of my favorites in Hawaii. So we made up our mind to order Bruchetta, and a medium Pizza Paradiso (grilled chicken, pesto, fire roasted vegetable medley & feta cheese). But the waitress told us they ran out of BOTH Bruchetta and Pizza Paradiso. How an Italian place can "run out" of Bruchetta is a puzzle to me---isn't it just tomatoes, basic, garlic, olive oil on toasted bread? Which part of it did they run out?! And I couldn't figure out why they were out of the Pizza Paradiso. Anyways we were hungry, and I wasn't going to risk not eating for another 30 minutes while my husband and I go through our regular back-n-forth on where to eat by leaving the place. So after I made a solemnly disappointed face at the waitress, I asked her to give me a few more minutes for us to figure out what else we could order. So we then ordered the spinich and artichoke dip for appetizer, and Pizza Margherita (basil n tomatoes), but added roasted garlic to it. Amazingly, they have Pizza Margherita (basil, tomatoes, and garlic! But no Bruchetta.. Hrm..) It took a lil while for the appetizer to come, but it wasn't that long. Then the pizza came promptly after the appetizer was almost done, so the timing was good. The food turned out to be satisfying. I wouldn't say it's exceptional, but it's a good pizza and the garlic was yummie and fresh, and we were satisfied. I'd like to add that the waitress was very nice though she didn't know much about beer. My husband asked for a pale ale, and she gingerly said, "I think we have.. er.. Guiness?" Now I am no expert in beer, but I know that's a dark one. Anyways, I thought the wait staff should know about their alcohol better considering their bar is prominently placed in the center of the dining room. Oh yeah, the bar was full the whole time, so I guess their alcohol is good? The place was at 50% capacity the whole time we were there, so I'd say they are getting business.. I just dont think this place is all that special but if you're in Kapaa, and want pizza, that's a good place to hit since the other pizza place I know here (it's not like I'm a local though) is PizzaHut.

Will have to agree with the husband on this one. The place although right on the main highway strip with a great open view was dead and when we walked we had a hard time finding anyone to seat us. We almost left when the one out of two employees came out. I ordered a Greek salad that came with a crispy island fly which we brought to their attention and was quickly replaced with a ceasar salad instead. Also got the Paradiso pizza which is a pesto chicken pizza with roasted veggies and fetta cheese. It was excellent. Overall the service was friendly and food was good. Only drawback was the price which was a little too much for pizza or salad.

Italian Cuisine

The immense popularity of Italian cuisine globally isn't unknown. You can find an Italian Pizzeria around every corner of almost every city in the United States. Not to forget that in every house, people enjoy mac and cheese as comfort food. But it would be wrong to believe that Italian food starts with pizza and ends with good pasta as this Mediterranean country has much more to offer other than these two dishes. In Italian Cuisine, there is a high use of fresh tomatoes, all kinds of herbs, great quality of cheese, all types of meat, seafood and fresh handmade pasta. Many find it hard to believe that Italians have been making noodles long back.

Italian and Greek cuisines are always mistaken to be same, but they are poles apart. The primary difference between the two cuisines is the use of cheese in most of the Italian dishes. Italians love to cultivate their own cheese and process them as per their food requirement. It is believed that some cheese is so expensive that cheese producers secure them in lockers.

If you are bored eating the same old pasta or pizza, you can try some of the authentic Italian dishes like Risotto, Polenta, Ribollita, Lasagna, Fiorentina Steak, Bottarga, Ossobuco, Carbonara, Focaccia, Arancini and Supplì. Another item which Italians love to relish every morning is a good cup of Italian Coffee. Once you taste a freshly brewed cup of Italian Coffee, you might not visit Starbucks ever again. Authentic Italian food is made with heart and soul, so go find a restaurant where you can relish Italian cuisine in your city.
