Wow! Really delicious burger that tasted like actual meat with a huge amount of fresh avocado on top. The sandwich was so thick and high it was challenging to eat. This is not fast food; burgers cooked to order over a flame grill. Wish they had gluten free bun option.

Best chicken burger I've had in a long time. I got the grilled chicken with Cajun spice and I added grilled mushrooms. Chicken was cooked perfectly. Best yet they have tatertots! Can get busy around lunch time.

Ok I've been craving this place alot lately. Lucky for me I'm usually in Kailua or Wahiawa and there's always a Teddy's nearby. I usually can pound a burger in a couple minutes because it's so juicy and tasty I don't realize how fast I'm eating it. Super delish. Burgers come with secret sauce, pickles, onions, lettuce, tomato and I'm quite sure the burgers are made with burgers with extra fat cuz it's uber-juicy. Love it. Whenever I get one, the fatty girl inside me does her lil fat jig. This place is usually quite busy unless you go 5 mins before closing so usually it takes 10-20mins (depending how many burgers you're getting) for a bigger which kinda sucks but I love it so I usually go walk around to the neighboring boutiques/stores while I wait. Tables are kinda limited (want to say 10-15 small tables) but the turnover's pretty fast so you probably don't have to wait long for one. I usually just get it to go so I can share my tater tots with my dogs... oh yah, that's right. they have fries, onion rings, tater tots, chili fries, cheese fries... they've got a bunch of different fried sides. Love their strawberry shake too, but they tend to run out I've notice lately... pretty sure they use strawberry powder and strawberry ice cream with strawberries inside.... pretty good. WAYYYY better than your local zippys.... They have a bunch of special burgers too but i always get the same dang thing except for the occasional burger with blue cheese. love it... I just had one for lunch and I'm already thinking when I can eat it for dinner this week...I like this place more so than the other burger places in town... the burgers are just more juicier and sometimes simple is better when it comes to burgers... Definitely going back down in the near future.... for the sake of the fatty girl in me...

Being on the beach for a few hours somehow made me hungry - good thing this place was close by. I'd been to the location in Waikiki, so I was expecting a good meal - thankfully, that was the case here. I had a double patty cheeseburger with fries, onion rings and a peanut butter milkshake and everything was very good. The burger was big, juicy and satisfying, while the peanut butter shake was nice and unique, full of peanut butter flavor. I was here around 11:30am and the place was PACKED and had to fight our way for a seat. This has indoor and outdoor seating so try for the outdoor seating since it's a bit better than the stuffy indoor seating.

I usually love Teddy's! I make a lot of allowances for mishaps, since I used to work in the service sector, but every time I go there anymore, the service is abysmal to the point of being laughable. The last time, my fiance and I ordered a milkshake. Just that. It wasn't crowded at all, but it took nearly half an hour for the milkshake to come out, because for the last 10, it was sitting on the counter with no one touching it! I asked the counter person if that was my milkshake and if I could have it, and he had to "check with someone to see if it was mine". Which took another 5 minutes. And it was the wrong flavor. I filled out a comment card with this, but nothing seems to have changed. The employees kill that place.

OK I'll throw my review into the ring .... I was craving a burger, and on the Mainland I really only like In N Out (forget the 'chain' chain burger places - blllechh). I came here to trusty Yelp and looked at what was available in my sister's neighborhood. Having read reviews lousy service and more on good burgers (although yeah, I see those ones where the reviewer didn't like it), I decided to give Teddy's a go. I'm glad I did because now I have a very FULL and happy stomach. I arrived just after 8 (I see they close at 9?) and there wasn't a line at all, and even a seat for me to sit and wait for my order, since I ordered to go. I ordered the middle size burger with grilled onion (and wasn't surprised that they charged me for the grilled onion, because I'd read a review that warned me they charge for everything) and small fries. It took just over 10 minutes to get my order, although there was some confusion as to what number the gal called. I initially took the wrong order and was about to leave when I heard them call MY order number again, so I went back. The person who's order I'd taken checked their bag and found it was right, so I didn't look inside my box to be sure that MY burger was in there. I munched on the fries on my way home, and enjoyed them. They are thick cut, unlike those at In N Out (just so you know) and were very good. I got home and opened my box, finding that they had indeed given me the right bag. My grilled onions were there waiting for me. I've read people complain about the flour dusted bun, and yes, there was flour baked on the bun but ya know what? Get over it. The burger was very tasty and very juicy, and the bun fell apart in my hands. Am I going to complain? No I am not. Buns that hold up under the juice have too many preservatives and crap in them. This was a very soft bun, fresh and moist, and it dissolved in the juices and I'm okay with that. The person who took my order did seem rather spaced out and not really too concerned, and not at all concerned or apologetic for having not onfirmed my order number before handing over the wrong bag, but you need to remember, this is a BURGER joint folks, it was probably her first job and she's got to learn customer service somewhere so quit being so hard on her, she'll learn. A burger place is a good place for a first job. My belly is happy. I considered a shake but thought $5+ was more than I wanted to pay. And 6 of the 8 soda varieties were out of order so I was glad I hadn't ordered a soda.

I had the Original Burger with Cheddar & Bacon & Garlic Fries. Every time I'm here, I've got to come once!

Essentially Fatburger in Hawaii but not as tasty. I had high hopes for Teddy's as it gave me the Fatburger vibe immediately when I walked in. Their menu is IMO too complicated for a hamburger joint, but whatever. I got the small burger (5oz I believe?) along with some fries. It came out SO overcooked and charred that the burger was essentially degraded to some dry abomination that a distracted backyard chef would serve you. Fries are decent, but not enough to make up for the burger. The onion rings are exceptionally greasy and overdone. It took for...evvv.eerrrrr for our food to come out, with numerous people who came in after us seeming to get their food first. All of this...AND it's expensive as hell? Maybe I caught Teddy's on a bad afternoon, but the food I got has no business costing what they're charging. Step up your game, Teddy's!

Packed on a Sunday afternoon. Fries were great. Burger was good. Didn't feel like it set itself apart but was a gem for the area. The hauli who took our order did a great job. Other service lacked in attention to detail. Suggestion. If everyone out front had a specific responsibility, it might run smoother. Ones on the register, then steps away to wash tables, then comes back to call out numbers, all while there is a big line. Also, burger was a little undercooked.

So much better than the location in Pearl City. This place does veggie burgers right. Get the cajun burger with avocado and buffalo sauce. SO GOOD. Quick service. Busy as helllll on the weekends but a great place to go for a quick bite on a weeknight.

I have ate at the Teddys bigger burger on Beritania, Hawaii Kai and West Ridge, and they have all been good, so when my sister and I couldnt decide where to eat out in Kailua, Teddys burger seemed like a good choice. and in deed it was..I like how the burgers are nice and thick and you know that you are eating a burger. We got the french fries and also the tatter tots. The tots seemed a little burnt to me, but none the less it was okay. It is fast food, so I cant expect a whole lot, but if you are looking to fill your stomach up with food that actually makes you full, this might be a good choice.

  • Robert C.

Skip this place if there is a line. When I arrived the line was back to the door. The line took 10 minutes, another 10 minutes before they buzzed me to the counter, and I spent another 10 minutes at the counter waiting for my burgers. The burgers were really good, but the fries were cold, and they ran out of ketchup!!! If it wasn't so crowded I imagine that the staff would be more attentive to the service and the little things, like ketchup.

I've always loved Teddy's.. how can you not love a place that offers a crispy hashbrown on top of their burger? It's like putting fries into my burger, but better. My favorite creation.. big cajun spud burger with pepperjack cheese. I absolutely LOVE everything about their burgers, down to the big slices of pickle and their special sauce dripping down my hand as I inhale my burger. It's worth the price and worth the wait (because it can get very busy sometimes).

Found out about this place through YELP while in the area. Stopped here after a day at the beach. It's a tiny burger joint with inside/outside seating and it sort of reminded me of an In-N-Out. Ordered me a veggie burger meal and it was delish! Almost tasted like a 'real' burger. Fries wouldve been much yummier with ranch dressing. Tried my hubbys garlic fries and it was... not bad. To wash my meal down-strawberry milk shake. Next time I'll definitely try the peanut butter or rootbeer shake. My mouth is starting to water... Can't wait!

It probably just wasn't my day but the first two (2) items that I tried to order at Teddy's were unavailable. Both of them. I settled with ordering The Western which was tasty but didn't completely blow me away. The burgers are big but I've had bigger so I'm not sure who they are comparing their burgers to (and if you've got "Bigger" burgers in your name they better be humongous)... and I haven't eaten many other burgers in Hawaii so I can't say if you can get better elsewhere on the islands. We ordered our food to go. The line and wait for our grub was pretty long. The burgers here are better than your big franchise/chain joints so if you can put up with the wait, are okay with paying a little more for your burger, and are lucky enough that they have what you want to eat, Teddy's will satisfy your hunger.

Went here for lunch today and was quite impressed with the quality of my burger. The burger was nicely cooked & seasoned, the toppings were fresh & crisp, and the grilled onions were spot on. The only downfall was the tater tots. Not sure what they did, but they were cooked to hell. Should've got the onion rings. In any event, I recommend checking it out

I love Teddy's! Their entire menu is great. Shakes are dope. Burgers are great. Fries and onion rings are winnaz! My usual order is A biggest combo with cheddar and grilled onions with onion rings instead of fries.

I've been to Teddy's several times and it never disappoints! Always juicy, hot and fresh. The fries are especially good...thick cut and the perfect consistency...consistently! I like the mushrooms and swiss, but the Kailua burger is really good too. I'm from the mainland and I have to say, I'd take Teddy's over In-N-Out any day of the week (no disrespect to In-N-Out, though!). One request: BRING TEDDY'S TO CALI!

Found this place in my gps. Looked up reviews. Had to try it. Was not disappointed! Was the best burger place I tried on the island while I was there! Will be going back!

I had the Kilauea Burger, 9 oz. It was absolutely amazing and my girlfriend and I could not figure out the sweet taste that was so beautifully mixed with the spicy. It was one of the best burgers I have had anywhere in a LONG TIME! Great fries (although I recommend the garlic over the spicy) and we ate outside amongst Kailuans. Well done Teddy's!

I really like Teddy's. My first thoughts were: I've never seen a burger this big (but then again, I've never been to Texas). Teddy's is a chill place with some nice options. It's like In-N-Out and Five Guys but with more choices compared to the former and different choices compared to the latter. I'm not going to argue which is the king of Burgers (it's not Burger King, though). And no, Teddy's not a life-changing gourmet burger joint experience like the Counter, where you can feel like you are getting a unique experience per say at the cost of an arm and limb, because unlike the Counter, Teddy's got great value (even a military discount), great taste, and even allows you to bring your own beer. There's adequate number of seating inside and outside. Like I said, it's a chill place with nice options. Also do expect your burger to "get all over the place". It's a pretty big burger after all. Finally, I think the Teddy's logo could use some work. I was trying to find the Teddy's in Aiea and still drove right by it three times unknownst to me. The logo needs to stand out a bit more. Fortunately this Teddy's in Kailua stands out a lot more and it's easy to find: it's at the opposite corner of a Starbucks and borders the entrance of a parking lot.

I don't know who is working back in the kitchen today, but I ordered two burgers to bring home for lunch today and they were PERFECT! Juicy, a little pink in the middle, just what we were looking for. And that girl Rose at the counter was a peach. Thanks Teddy's

Clearly not a fresh Berger.: came out of the freezer: mealy and tasteless..sause masked the issue. May as well go to MacDonalds for less money. Do no recommend if you are looking for a real Berger.,,

Probably some of the best burgers around. Coming from southern California, this is right next to inn & out when it comes to how good the burgers are. They had a military discount which was nice, and the cashier was really cool and funny. Prices weren't too bad for what we got. There was one person in front of us in line and the wait was roughly 10 minutes for our burgers. No big deal. Good experience.

Good, solid burger place. Fries were crispy outside and tender inside, just like they should be. I had the Volcano combo and couldn't finish it. Very good.

Was here yesterday...first and last time here since we're moving. Not much of a fan of fast food burger places but this one was pretty good. We got the 7 oz Teri burger with a side of fries and onion rings to share among my family (3 of us). It's a small place with not much seatings inside or outside. It's on the corner of Macy's. Our burger was cooked perfectly to medium. It was dripping with juice and that went perfectly with their special sauce (which I think it was a honey mixture base). The burger was not overly sweet...nicely sweet and savoury. Can't really compare this Teri burger with others but I would definitely order again. Pretty cool joint....wall decor/art was awesome.

Located in a small strip mall with Macy's behind the back. Plenty of parking spaces. My gf and I ordered the 70 oz burger (size #2) and it filled us up pretty much for the rest of the night. She ordered a regular burger with bacon and blue cheese and claimed it was one of the best burgers she's had and I ordered the teri style burger which consisted of swiss cheese, mushrooms, onions and a teri sauce. I felt the teri burger was a bit on the salty side, if they left off the extra teri sauce it would have been perfect. The menu says they cook all their beef to a medium and mine tasted juicy without it being red. We also ordered onion rings, garlic fries, root beer float and dreamcicle shake. The root beer float is basically two scoops of ice cream in a cup and you can fill it up with whatever soda from the fountain. The onion rings didn't taste like home made although it was good none the less, the fries were the best, a big basket of thick cut fries with a lot of garlic seasoning. They have locations in Seattle and Japan as well with a full Japanese menu behind the English menu.

Average burgers. Tasted like when your buddy grills & forgot to clean the grill beforehand. Nice well cooked crisp fries. Good service plus discount for service people. Extra charge (1.40) for bleu cheese seemed a little steep. Much props on allowing BYOB.

One of the few places we doubled up on while we were on the island. Didn't read the print on the menu that they cook all their burgers to medium but I really think that is the secret... it was delicious and juicy! Glad we got it done right the first time around since we usually order our burgers no pink. (my other half got sick off a pink burger a loooong time ago so he avoids pink like the plague) I got the classic and the hubby tried the kailua. both were yummy!

Oh gosh, what an original theme for a burger joint - 50's music and cars. Maybe what is original at Teddy's is the handwritten witticisms they have posted on the walls behind the counter for the benefit of their workers - like "the only job where you start at the top is digging a hole" or "do not leave your shirt or socks at work, or they will be gone when you return". We ordered burgers and fries tonight. I also ordered a chocolate shake. A large sign on one wall warned that there would be a wait for you food, but the food would be worth it. Sure enough, it was about 15 minutes from placing the order till when our number was called. The shake was quite thick as well as having a very dark chocolate color. Yet, it had a bitter and ice milkish taste. The burger was very good with a delicious light yellow sauce. It came with a tomato, onions and a single leaf of Bibb lettuce, not shredded iceburg lettuce, thank you very much! However, the patty itself was charboiled and undercooked. If the patty had been fully cooked on a skillet, this would have been a real dynamite hamburger. It fell short in my book. And so that leaves the fries - they had just enough rosemary to force me to leave them untouched.

This is ONLY for the Veggie Burger. I'm a vegetarian and am always seeking out good veg dishes- especially BURGERS! I have been disappointed time and time again and have recently gave up. Well... I guess the best things come when you're not looking because I literally stumbled upon Teddy's without any intentions on doing so. A friend of mine, Karin, is in town and she recommended we go there after another eatery close by had a 45 minute wait. Good thing she recommended because now I have a veggie burger spot I can return to. The bun is fluffy, the patty TASTES like a real burger, and the special sauce was great for dipping (sauce on the side please!). I recommend!

This place is a mad house come time to eat. It's always jam packed full of Kailua locals and tourists alike. The turn around from the time you order to getting your food isn't too bad, although you may have a tough time finding a place to eat. Teddy's burgers are overall pretty good. It's a la carte and my only complaint is that the burgers, once you start adding stuff on can get way out of had. The "specialty burgers" that have no price, I'd stay away from. I think one time I started to order it, found that the price hovered around $17 (all by itself!), then retracted my order. It's not In-n-Out. They are not even close to each other. It's like saying In-n-Out and Fat Burger are the same. A closer mainland type burger would be the fore mentioned Fat Burger, Red Robin, or Fuddrucker's. Anyways, the burgers here are always juicy and messy. A fact that is driven in when the table busser comes and drops off several handi-wipes for each of you. So, make sure to grab a ton of napkins from the dispenser before you have a seat or leave. Parking usually can be found in the shared Macy's lot and is probably suggested since it's easier to get in and out of. Just make sure to be aware of all the people having to cross the lot to get to the shop.

We've been eating here for years. What we like: big portions, large menu with options for carnivores & vegetarians alike, 'ono malts, & outdoor seating where our dog is welcome. Not so much: kind of pricy for fast food, food not always so fast (service can be downright slooooow), fries & onion rings are very greasy & flavor of their healthy options is just meh. Teddy's is the kind of place you go when you absolutely don't care about the calorie count or fat content of your food & you're not planning on being too active right after your heavy meal. :-)

I LOVE this place. I have been in Hawaii for about two weeks now, and this is probably the tastiest place I have eaten yet! I ordered the Chicken Hawaiian burger and it was AMAZING! I plan to go back soon :-)

  • REBEKAH H.

Tried In and Out, go to Five Guys quite often, but when I stay Hawaii there Teddy's tops them all! Their garlic fries are so ono, and their burgers are awesome! So glad they opened one near University so I don't have to travel so far to get one! I don't know if they still have it but they had a thai burger with peanut butter on it. I would have never thought about putting pb on my burger but it was the most mouthwatering and certainly unique burger I've ever eaten!

If you've ever seen the SNL Taco Town ( hulu.com/watch/1447/satu… ) skit, I think it may have a new rival in Teddy's Bigger Burger. It's just item, upon items, and a few more items for good measure added to even more items, all creating a ridiculous, stupidly huge, deliciously wrong creation that will require a dolly to wheel your now fat ass back out to your car but it will be oh so worth it. We had just hiked through the Mauna Wili rainforest and I basically had my ass handed to me. Dirty, bruised, sweaty, wet, hungry, faint and not able to really form sentences, I needed food immediately and we decided to come here. I went with what my friend ordered which was a 7oz burger with hashed browns, grilled onions, guac, special sauce, lettuce, more onions, tomatoes, cheese and bacon. I don't think I fully processed what I was agreeing to ingest until the biggest burger I've ever tackled arrived in front of me. "Holy )(*&@"is a pretty direct quote from my tattered brain. As I attempted to tackle this thing, I didn't really think it was possible, but when the gent sitting across from me managed to get a bite in, I figured, c'mon steph, you just tackled a rain forest, you can do this!! And that I did and ate the whole damn thing. I think I am now 20 lbs heavier and any calories lost on that hike from hell have found their way right back to my waist line, but screw it, Teddy's was a true treat for a burger lover like me and there are no regrets here!

I am super bummed that I did not have access to my phone and the awesome yelp reviews because I think I totally missed out when I came here. It was Christmas Eve and I was starving. I was ready to eat just about anything and I'd remembered a few friends raving about Teddy's. It was around lunch time, and boy was the place packed. We had the furbaby with us, so I couldn't go in. I told the bf to just pick me something and order because it was so busy and I WAS STARVING. Did I mention that I was really starving? The wait was really long too because they were super busy. Anyway, he got us a teriburger and a regular hamburger and we shared, plus some fries. The burgers were big, although I didn't think there was anything special about the plain burger. It did have a nice char-broiled taste, but that was all it had going for it. The teriburger was pretty good, but honestly I was so hungry I just scarfed everything down. I am bummed that I didn't get a shake because when I came home and looked at all the reviews a lot of people mentioned the shakes. I was so sad! I love shakes!! Oh well, it just gives me a reason to go again and hopefully update my review.

Great burgers, but check your to-go bag if it's busy cuz something is missing half the time! Teddy's has a great old school decor that fools you into thinking you discovered something...but everyone already knows this is a great place for burgers. My wife and I used to frequent a chain called Red Robbin's, that isn't around here. If you happen to be looking for a replacement, you found it.

As usual, Teddy's does a great job with their burger patty. Lots of flavor, a nice charry smoky taste. Tender and most with that nice crispy edge. The plus is the option to customize your burgers and their many popular combinations. The only downside is that their fries were not as crispy and fluffy inside as I would like. That's why I would recommend the onion rings instead.

Best burgers ever! This place is usually very busy and there is not a lot of room to sit but it's well worth it to get one of the burgers. I have yet to have a bad one!

I have always loved teddys but kailua is getting worse and worse. It now is hit or miss..dont know what has happened but it is slipping in quality and service. The soda machine always has something wrong with it. Today..no ice..and no carbonation..and some drinks were out..wth?? Last time there was no carbonation..and drinks out!. The floor is so sticky and gross, and the trash cans stink so bad. Most times they get the orders wrong, and lately medium well comes out pink..hope managment reads this and makes some changes..cause it has always been a fav of my family

I am a burger person for sure, and love to try places that specialize in burgers. I have eaten here plenty of times since I live on island and in Kailua. They are usually really really busy, so you will be waiting in line and for your food for atleast 10-15 minutes. I have eaten at the Kailua location and the Hawaii Kai location and both of them are excellent. I usually get a cheeseburger with everything (Well done) because most burgers are cooked at medium. With the fries and a chocolate shake. My mouth is watering as I write this. They are usually pretty energetic and willing to provide you with top notch service. The burgers are not greasy in my opinion, and they use good top of the line meat. They dont use nasty processed meats. They only downfall to this location would be the seating and parking. There is a large parking area off to the side of the building, but it is usually packed. Then of course there is never parking in front of it. The tables are usually dirty because there is so much traffic in there, so you are usually wiping off your own table. (The Hawaii Kai one was very clean). And larger. I really enjoy Teddys bigger Burger, and all they have to offer. :)) You can BYO Beer and wine as well.

Teddy's gets 5 stars for their food but 3 stars for their service. I love love love their burgers! I always get the smallest size ("big") and still can only eat half of it! I don't think I've ever finished an entire burger of theirs. They have some creative people behind the board thinking of these burger flavors and combinations. I've tried almost all their burgers and like them all. Their fries are tasty tasty and thick cut. I LOVE their shakes, especially the chocolate-peanut butter one. I tried vanilla with peanut butter but it didn't taste as good. Now its negative time....the burgers are SO messy! Since they pack so much into these, its hard to take a bite without all the fixin's falling out. The bun gets damp too quickly from the sauces, but I'm a slow eater so I always seem to run into this problem. I'm not a fan of their service--its usually up in the air and you don't know what you're going to expect at the Teddy's in Kailua. Example 1: Three different times I went, It took them 20 minutes to make one milkshake. The first two times I ordered in person...one of those two times I got up and asked them what was going on with my order and a girl looked in the refidgerator and walaa there it was...so why didnt my buzzer go off when they finished making it??? The world may never know. The third time I wanted a milkshake, I called a take out order for it, hoping that they'd have it ready by the time I drove there. They didn't. I still had to wait for ONE milkshake and nothing else! Example 2: My boyfriend and I ordered and sat outside eating our burgers, but even after they set our food down on the table he had to wait about 15 more minutes for his shake. I never knew making a milkshake could be such a time consuming and monumental task!!! Example 3: I made a food order one time and my boyfriend showed the cashier his military i.d. for their 10% off purchase discount. But between those 5 seconds when she acknowledged his ID and swiped my credit card, she lost memory of adding the 10% off to my food bill. I think the staff here suffers from short term memory loss, because they are very forgetful. I'm not sure if other Teddy's Bigger Burger locations take 15-20 minutes on average to make your order, but thats what you can expect here in Kailua. The service was a lot better back in the summer, but I guess those people left?

We've gone there for years and the last visit was disappointing. We spoke clearly and repeatedly to the girl taking the order and yet the order for 7 people was not correctly filled. It took a long time to get the order as we had originally requested. I could tell as we were giving the initial order that the one writing it down was not the sharpest knife in the drawer but still. The kids were famished having just come from the mainland and they were not very busy when we ordered. These are NOT inexpensive sandwiches. If this occurs again we shall have to say, "No more Teddy Burgers". Won't be worth the price and the aggravation.

Are you in need of huge goddamn burger? Well then you came to the right place.I Could sit here and go on about how big the thing is or I could put it into a metric everyone can understand: My 5 year old son's burger was as big as his head, and it was the kids burger. Does that paint a decent picture for you ? Teddys is a nice little burger joint located in Kailua. Taste better than any other chain with the exception of In N' Out, which in my opinion, can't be touched. The inside is a little cramped and when the tourist roll in for lunch time you can forget about getting a burger in reasonable time, but they do have outside seating which should be a pre-requisite for anywhere in Hawaii. The price is higher than your normal burger joint, but then again there is alot more quality in the burgers put out here and the taste is far superior than most. The fries were nothing really mind-blowing but not still fresh and not drenched in oil. I've heard the shakes are good as well, but after ingesting half a damn cow, otherwise known as my Biggest Burger, I couldn't imagine drinking a shake. So if you want a fresh plump burger, are in Hawaii, and can ingest a burger the size of a 5 year old's head, definitely check out Teddy's Bigger Burger.

The blue cheese burger I had here was exceptionally juicy, delicious, and amazing. I did not come to Hawaii expecting to find the best burger I've ever had. My friend and I had a 9 oz patty on our burger, onion rings, and a drink. The onion rings were okay, not too greasy but a little over cooked. Either that or the oil had burned food in it because it tasted a little burned. In addition to the burger being juicy, the staff were by no means tight on the blue cheese. The burger had blue cheese falling off of it. Also, you can BYOB here since they don't have a liquore license.

This is my favorite burger place in Hawaii!!! I love Teddy's! The smallest 5oz is big enough! The special sauce is so good! Oh and order cheese on your fries! YUM!

What a fantastic burger place! We had a bigger burger with grilled pineapple and onions and the spicy fries...both were excellent. Super fresh bun, great ingredients, awesome sauce on the burger. Truly hit the spot.

I ordered two shakes and fries. My shakes were junk. Fries were cold from waiting for my shakes for over 15 minutes. People who ordered after us, got their orders first. Staff was rude and didn't even seem to care that we were upset. Never coming here again.

At a few minutes before 9 p.m. on a Friday I got in back of another person in line at the counter. There were about 4 people in the restaurant, without food, sitting and presumably waiting for their orders. When it was my turn, the girl at the counter told me that they weren't taking any more orders since they were getting ready to close. It's been a while since we ate there and now I think we're never going back. Their food was good, but I don't want to support such an unfriendly business.

Huge, tasty burgers! Great spicy fries! I'm glad they walk around with wet nap's because I invariably need one or two each time I visit. They made my chocolate milkshake the exact way I like them! Just chocolate ice cream and milk! It was thick and delicious. I try a new burger each time I go and I'm always satisfied.

WOW. Kailua did well. Okay the food was bomb.com but besides that the service was pretty quick and the people were nice and spoke proper english( PLUS!) none of that pigeon here. No 5 stars because Teddy does over price his burgers....

Okay, I have a love/hate relationship with this place. On the one hand, the food is fairly cheap and the food is good. However, the service is so incredibly bad. I have never in my entire experience ordering here have not had a problem with my order. Either they forget a burger or the fries, or the food comes out cold 45 minutes after I order it. They seriously need to work on this. When you do get the food, however, it is delicious (albeit, sometimes cold) and there are free drink refills. BTW, the special sauce? It's just mayonnaise and BBQ sauce...

I'm giving 5 stars because I know a great burger when I taste one. The fries as well. Franks red hot actually tastes good on them, it works.

Teddy's Bigger Burgers has a few locations on the island. I went to the Kailua location. I have yet to try the Waikiki location, so I can't say that they will provide the same excellent service and quality. To start, I was introduced to this fabulous burger joint by a few friends. At first sight, I was imagining that this was just another franchised company, but boy was I surprised. The line is usually always to the door. However the line moves quickly and there is usually an associate taking orders while you stand in line. The selection of burgers vary and anyone can find something they will not only enjoy, but fall head over heels for. I stick with the same choice every time I go; the bacon blue cheese burger. Holy scrumptious! It has fresh blue cheese crumbles and a touch of their "secret sauce" to top it off. You have to wait anywhere from 5-10 minutes for them to make your burger, then they serve it fresh off the grill. I have shared this amazing burger haven with my mom and a few friends, who also responded positively to their experiences. Highly recommend this to both locals and visitors on the island. Make sure you come with a big appetite. Also, there is a 10% Military discount for active duty members.

This is the best burger joint in Kailua. They even have a veggie burger which is nice. The atmosphere was fast foodish and prices were descent. The quality is fairly consistent with other Teddy Bigger Burger locations.

Boyfriend and I were looking for a quick/casual dinner one night and decided to try out Teddy's. I ordered the veggie burger salad and it was pretty good! The veggie patty was tasty, the salad was huge, lots of veggies. Boyfriend had a burger and said it was great. Fries were ok. There wasn't a line and we only had to wait about 5 minutes for our food. There's a military discount, which was nice. And they have great outside seating.

Teddy's used to be the place to get a good burger at a decent price. Now if you want your onions grilled, it costs extra! Really?! You're already grilling my burger -- how much more labor or gas is involved in grilling the onions that already come with my burger? And a specialty burger meal $12+ -- get a grip. Your burger ain't no Kobe beef. It's good...but it ain't $12+ good.

Not the most amazing burger I've ever had, but not as bad as some of the other naysayers have deemed it. Though the menu states "medium rare", I'd say our burgers were definitely medium-well at best. I had the Kilauea Fire Burger and my wife had the original with cheese. Both were tasty enough. I liked the thick-cut fries. We didn't have any problems with our order and didn't have to wait very long to order or receive our food. However, a huge line formed while we were eating. (I think there's a tour company that busses the gross tourists in from Waikiki to wander around lovely Kailua, thus spoiling it for everyone else).

Burgers and fries were OK....inordinate wait, though. Have to try Burgers on the Edge, judging from the reviews on Yelp. For the food you get, it was rather pricey but what isn't in Hawai'i nowadays? Nice that Teddy's will allow you to trade in one's In-N-Out tee for a brand new Teddy's version. Not sure we'd return, but I'm sure looking forward to the new Whole Foods on Kailua Rd. Hope it'll be completed by the time we return home to Oahu on our next vacation.

I'm going to bump up the number of stars from 2 to 2.5 (ie 3) based on my meal there last night. This time I got a Western burger and it actually wasn't bad. I couldn't find any bacon on the burger, the BBQ sauce was waaaaay too sweet for me, but the burger itself wasn't bad, and this time, unlike the last time (a Kailua burger), the bun didn't self-destruct before I got through eating 1/3 of it. I think if I order just a regular burger and add my own onions, sauce, cheese, it won't be a bad burger. Then again, I can just buy the hamburger meat and cook up my own at home. The fries were plentiful, but not very good. We got a big garlic fries and a small spicy fries. I only live a couple of blocks away, and we drove here, but by the time we got home, the fries had no heat. They seemed like they'd been under a heat lamp for quite a while. They certainly were not fresh out of the fryer. I tried a few fries and I couldn't actually detect any flavor. I could feel a powdery substance in my mouth, but it took a few fries, and really thinking about it in order to find even a hint of the 'flavorings'. The garlic fries had a little bit of garlic powder sprinkled over them, and not the 'good' kind of garlic powder, you know, the kind with actual garlic flavor, but maybe a garlic powder mixed with a filler of some sort. Honestly, I expected better (like fresh sauteed garlic) from a place that gets so many high marks, so I guess it's my fault for being disappointed. The 'spicy' fries were a bigger disappointment. Since when, when talking about food, does the term 'spicy' mean oregano? Yes, oregano IS a spice, but when you see 'spicy' on a menu in any kind of a restaurant, is that really the spice you think of? Me either. That was the only spice flavor we could detect. There was certainly no heat or kick to these whatsoever. Regardless of the spices or lack thereof, the fries themselves were of poor quality. I'm still not impressed.

I have been to Teddy's in Kailua many times and will continue to go as long as they continue to make the best burgers in town!!! I've just about every burger on their menu and I love them all. They are always juiciy and full of flavor. I never need to add ketchup or anything else. The vanilla milkshake is the best. The fries are awesome as long as you eat them hot. There is almost always a line out the door but they are usually pretty quick. If you're taking your meal to go make sure you check your order prior to leaving. I learned that the hard way. I was halfway home before I realized they hadn't given me my order milkshakes.

Not sure why people rate this so high. The burgers were well done and dry. Nothing fantastic or even close. Not dripping with juices as should a great burger be. Before you rate it as great, try the burger at the Kalapawai Café & Deli. Now that's a fabulous burger, pricey, but fabulous. Sorry, we're really selective about great burger's and this is just a typical standard burger.

Teddy's does have the best burger on the island. the bad thing is they add for every topping you get even if it is one of the burgers on thier menu. Burgers are huge and great for the soul :)

Great burgers! Always juicy, cooked perfectly, and great flavor. The special sauce is amazing! My husband and I go several times a month. Just try not to go Thursday nights during the farmer's market unless you're already there - the parking lot is packed.

Military discount! Burgers were so good! Not healthy, but if you are looking for that you wouldn't be looking for a burger joint. SO GOOD Mine had avocado, hash brown, onion rings,....so good. The service was good too.

Love Teddy's better than Kua Aina. Teddy's burgers are juicier and yummy. The fries are really good. The service is really friendly and quick. Old school drive inn atmosphere. Definitely recommend when in Kailua.

The burgers are delicious and were some of the best we have had. I had the Bacado burger. My wife needs to eat gluten free and they accommodated by wrapping her burger in lettuce vice a bun. She had the one with blue cheese and really liked it. The burgers were juicy and cooked just right. We have two kids and the first time we ate here ( a few days ago) we got both of them the kids burgers...they were not that great, kind of dry and too thin. On a subsequent trip my 10 year old had a regular size cheeseburger and devoured it...says its now his favorite burger and asked to go there everyday since the first trip. For reference to southern California people, we like In and Out, but Teddy's beats it for taste. Good milkshakes...the root beer milkshake is exceptionally good. The only negative is that they didn't have a small/kids size and a $5+ shake for our 6 year old (who will only drink a small portion) is too much money. Overall, we all enjoyed the food. Quick, simple, but better than your average burger. The only thing bringing me to mark a 4 star vice 5 are the prices...a little too high. Other than that, a great place and we would eat there again, and again.

This is my favorite place on the island to get a burger. If the #2 bigger combo isn't cutting it for me, I always try their monthly specials. Shakes also good too. They cook the burgers fresh from the grill so I always bring a book with me.

Blah, yelp mislead me on this place. Hands down one of the worse burgers I ever had. Even after I smothered it in ketchup it was still meh. The burger was really dry. The roll was blah too. I had to brush the flour off of it, as it seemed it took a bath in flour. The fries were good, maybe 3 stars. In the end, I should of just went to Jack in the Box. Everyone says this place is better then Five Guys or In n' Out. I'm not "HUGE" fans of those places either but they are a lot better then here. I'm a big burger fan, well I'm a big meat fan actually. This is one place I can say Yelp is dead wrong on.

Horrible. Horrible. Horrible. Yelpers why did you lead me astray? We waited 50 minutes for our burgers, and they came out charred as if Teddy had previously been a cremator and decided all his burgers would come out hockey pucks. I had the AvoBurger which boasted a half an avocado and bacon. The bacon was soggy and there were two slices of avocado! If I hadn't waited 50 minutes for my order I would have demanded a new slightly under charred hockey puck and the full HALF avocado that the menu said I would get. To make matters worse my husband ordered a pumpkin shake but as it turned out 50 minutes later, the girl taking our order hadn't rung it up. Sighhhh we waited 10 more minutes for a shake (now it has been 1 hour since ordering!) and then when my husband went up to the counter asking why it had been 10 minutes to make a shake they said they had run out...and then they sniffed 5 shakes sitting on the counter and said " Sorry all we have here are pumpkin." Are you serious? Is this an alternate universe I just stepped into? We had to change our order to To-Go because it had taken 60 minutes! to get the burgers and the guy behind the counter looked so annoyed he huffed and puffed. I wanted to yell HEY BUDDY when I ordered i had no idea I'd be standing here for an HOUR for 2 burgers and a bloody shake! Excuse me for making you put this stuff in a box because I have more important things to do today than eat a hockey puck! If you like burnt burgers and buns powdered with so much flour you have to scrape if off ( I suspect they do this to give it a "just out of the oven" appearance. Hint- it doesn't work for old ladies and it isn't going to work for old buns) then you are in luck! If waiting is your thing and you've got so much time you don't know what to do with it- this is your kind of place! If you like good burgers, prompt friendly service and cheap prices- GO SOMEWHERE ELSE.

ppl obviously come for da meet and the taste us amazin, but the bread is frail.it fell apart in my hands, i was like "wtf dude?? it just couldn't handle the magnitude of the burger? or idk my own strength?" the place gets busy, and there are a few tables inside (telling someone you're with to grab a table while you're on line is a good idea), and some tables outside as well. be ready to wait a while for your order though. the vibrating thing that let's you know that your order is ready is pretty cool.... if you're a girl!!! the taste was above average. fries were aight. very hipster place to go to.... PS: the ketchup was good

Ok I love it! I barely just went today for lunch :). It wasn't as crowded as everyone said, but it was like a super early lunch lol. I can imagine it getting crowded though , it's so yummy and juicy and big.....and that's just their original burger. First off their burgers comes naturally cooked Medium with Tomatoes, Lettuce, Onions, Pickles and their signature sauce. I like the sauce even though everyone is right about it making a mess, but I think a good burger isn't good if it doesn't make a mess. I got the #1 which consists of the Original Big Burger (cheeseburger), w/o onions cuz I only like my onions grilled. and with added bleus cheese. I love it that they have so many topping choices you can add for an extra charge. This place is kind of pricey for just a burger that doesn't include seating service, but the burger more than makes up for that. I paid 8 something for that burger I think and I got spicy fries yummm by the way ! It is a really big burger though, it's cheaper if you split it but either way its amazing. You gotta remember that when you come here, you gotta take it the way it is. It's a get your food and get out kinda joint. The cashier who takes your order doesn't look happy, but I won't look happy working at a greasy joint either but hey foods good. Overall my point is food is good, don't come here for the service.

Yes Beth.. I have been to Teddy's multiple times its our favorite burger in Kailua where we live. They have certainly put ketchup & even worse... MUSTARD on my burgers... maybe they just don't like me... or maybe their secret sauce is just ketchup, mustard & mayo... but I can certainly taste how the ketchup & mustard clash with the flavor of jalapenos. With regards to the mess... there is a mess.. and there is a mess... that bun on a Saturday fell apart the way non fresh burger buns when faced with an ample amount of juices. Teddy's vs. In-n-Out... who cares there are hundreds of places better. For example, the Greek owned Ghetto burger joints of L.A. (these are places with names like Troy, Dino's, Astro's found mostly in East L.A. & South Central) put In-n-Out to absolute shame... not even close. But in the end... why compare? They are just soooo different... their is no particular similarity between a Double Double & a Bigger Burger at all. In O'ahu... Burgers on the Edge is solidly superior to Teddy's

Teddy's special sauce is what makes these burgers so good. Fortunately, every place I've tried it on the island maintains the good quality. Love this place. Tip to cashiers: don't stick half your hand down the cup when handing it to a patron. We don't want to drink the germs of the last 100 dollar bills you've put in the cashier. Love me some Teddy's.

  • Matt H.

Teddy's has a 50's vibe and the burger's are great. You must visit this place if you are in Kailua. There are more than this location in Hawaii so I recommend you find one in the local area. The #1 is a 5 oz burger, which doesn't sound like much but it is filling.

The best burger restaurant on Oahu I have been to. I get the Kailua Specialty burger and add the sauce. The burgers patty is thick and juicy. Always worth eating there.

I dieted for months so I could fit into this cute bikini when I came to Hawaii. Every day at the coffee shop, my friends would talk about their favorite foods, from pastries to pot roasts, from bratwurst to burgers. And when the subject of burgers came up, I nibbled on my carrot sticks and thought of Teddy's and how I was saving myself for the best. When I finally arrived at Teddy's, I didn't hold back (and this is the way you should always order when you come to Teddy's Bigger Burger). I got mine with bacon, avocado, and cheese, with a side of fries and a chocolate milkshake. The burger was juicy, the avocado was smooth and soft, and the cheese all melty down my wrists. The homemade bun sopped up most of it, though, so I added extra ketchup and marched onward. the fries were hot and crispy with tender centers, and welcomed extra salt, which I sprinkled over them lavishly before dipping them into my milkshalke. The shake itself was thick and rich, like soft-serve ice cream, but it didn't take long for it to soften up in this tropical heat. I'm proud to say I finished the whole meal without any help, and pinched the crumbs out of the bottom of the basket. And then, after eating nothing but vegetables, whole grains and salmon for so many months, my system went into such shock that I went home and puked. Yes, I ate 'till I puked, it was that freakin' awesome!

Yum, yum in the tum, tum! There is no other food item that I crave or miss more from Hawaii than a Teddy's burger! I would customize mine and just get a regular cheese burger and add a pineapple slice...it's that very special, "special sauce" that gives these burgers it's deliciousity factor. Very hard to find a burger as good as Teddy's on the mainland. Another good thing is that this place is pretty fairly priced in comparison to everything else on the island and while I was there I got the extra lucky perk of seeing a LOST cast member swing by the place and grab a bite to eat with his family. (I'm a huge fan of the show, so it was an awesome little added perk to the dining experience :-D)

Yummmm! Love the burgers here. We stop in whenever we are staying in Kailua. Yes, the lines can get long & it takes a bit to get the food, but you can pop over to the shops next door, sit outside in the sunshine & people watch....oh & smell the wonderfulness coming from the kitchen making you that much more hungry : )

Burgers that reminded me of the delicious Red Robin combinations served in a old milk-shop decorated setting. Located conveniently in Kailua, Teddy's is tasty and the secret sauce adds something to the burgers. Prices are right with most burgers under $6. We ordered two of the basic burgers. One burger had onions added to it. The burgers were pretty good, and the fries hit the spot. Fyi's~ * I wouldn't make a special trip to try Teddy's- but if you are in Kailua stop in for a filling lunch * They sell t-shirts * If you pick up a free Kailua map there is usually a coupon for Teddy's in it

We visited Teddie's several weeks ago while in Kailua. There was a line out the door and it looked popular. We ordered burgers, fries and a drink. My burger showed up and looked delicious. I took the first bite and found it raw inside. Yikes, I took it back to the kitchen and they asked me if I wanted it well done. I said, yes, please. They brought me a new burger and it was just as raw. Yuck, shades of E Coli. So, if you go, check your burger before you get sick. I threw it away. I won't be back.

juiciest, most tender burger i have ever eaten, i got the volcano burger, and da da da dayummmmmm it was bomb. :) also substituted with the garlic fries, the fries in my opinion..were SUPER salty. it just looked like they took the regular fries and poured hella salt and garlic seasoning on them. oh well.. it went good with my TENDER, JUICY, SPICY, VOLCANO BURGER.. YUMMMMM also.. 5oz is enough for me. its freaking HuUUUge! I'm definitely a fan, if youre coming back from lanikai beach and you're starving.. do yourself a favor and stop by here on the way back to waikiki. back home we dont have anything that comes close to this place..!

THE GOOD: Nice, savory, juicy, sloppy burgers THE BAD: Not a lot of seating THE LOWDOWN: There are all sizes to accommodate the petite appetite to famished looking to gain weight. I am just visiting for the holidays and this was the first place we ate, on the recommendation of our local friend Malia. I got the Hawaiian burger, whereas my counterparts got regular burgers gussied up with cheese and grilled onions. Everyone loved it. It wasn't the best burger in the world, but it was very good. This would be a staple of my diet if I lived here. Good price for what you get and given that most everything here is just a little more than what we on the mainland are used to. A great low-key burger joint

I have wrote 1 reveiw for here but eaten many times when I in the area from my home in Kaneohe. Long story short great quanity, good quality. You really get your monies worth. Why did I do this update. Well after eating at ISLANDS FINE BURGERS & DRINKS at Ala Moana Mall a couple times lately I had such a poor experience and costly I decieded it was time to stand up for Teddy's Bigger Burger. If you want a burger for a very fair price you need to go here. They work hard and do a good job. I should mention I see several reviews that run down Teddy's by grading Teddy's against Mainland places. mmmmmmm We not the mainland must expect our flavors to differ from the mainland. Sorry I strayed Teddy's I will return!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I ran into here on accident. I have to pee a lot so on the road I make frequent stops. Hahaha. So anyways I always used to hear the radio commercials about this place so I wanted to check it out. The burgers were okay. I didn't really know what to get so I just got a normal small burger. But I got the spicy/seasoned fries. OHHH LOVE. Those fries and actually 'finger lickin' good'. I really wanna try out the one in Waikiki because I'm always shopping there but I've never found it.

These burgers are awesome! I usually just get the plain combo. The burgers are juicy, not too salty, just right. The toppings are simple, the way I like. I love their garlic flavored fries, those are bomb! The only thing I don't like is the meal can be pretty messy. So keep a lot of napkins with you!

I only get the turkey burger combo, but I leave satisfied every time. If you want a burger and fries, this place will not disappoint. The outdoor seating is a plus.

They're not kidding, these things are pretty big. I must say that I haven't had a good burger in a LONG time, and after a Sunday of starving to a late lunch, this really was a savoury delight. Wanna take a bite? gotta open wide, cause I couldn't even smash the burger down well enough without making all that juicy sauce and oil run from it! I had a "Kilauea Fire" Original bigger burger. The wait was only about 10 minutes after ordering, and we only had about 3 small groups in front of us. I thought the burger was going to have a little spice, but nah, it was sweet and tangy from some sort of sauce, but I wasn't complaining! Usually I'd go grab for some tobasco if I expected heat and didn't get it, but it was good enough without all the spiciness that I was originally craving for. Maybe the Volcano burger would have it, with the jalapenos inside.

You love In-N-Out? Then you will like this place... but not love it. The Good: Meat was high quality and cooked perfectly. Lettuce and tomato were fresh Pickles were awesome! The Bad: Fries were not crispy, fresh or very flavorful They ran out of ketchup Bun was not toasted Cheese was not melted on the burger Overall this is a solid burger place and I would definitely go back. But I really don't know where they get off comparing themselves to In-N-Out which is always consistent, always toasts their buns, always has fresh cut fries that are hot and crispy. Not to mention I can get a double double, fries and a shake for less then I can get a single burger combo with a soda at teddy's (granted teddy's patties are a bit bigger). If the fries were better, would definitely go with 4 stars.

I am a simple girl with simple needs. My favorite food in the whole entire universe is a good ol' CHEESEBURGER. When I was little and my family would go to plate lunch joints, I'd always without hesitation order a cheeseburger and fries. My love for the beef patty and bun runs deep and strong! I don't know how or why I allowed myself to be a Teddy's virgin up until last night. I am even more bothered that my friends didn't tell me how scrumptious it was because they've all tried it before! This is for sure the BEST cheeseburger I've had on the island. Forget the gourmet build your own burgers from the other places because Teddy's rocks the house and blows their competition to smithereens!!!! I got the Combo #1: 5oz. burger, fries, and drink....I also added on American cheese, bacon, and avocado. It was love at first bite!!!!! They have a bunch of other toppings to choose from, such as chili, grilled onions, peanut butter (what!), grilled pineapple, etc. They're generous with it too....I probably had half an avocado in mine! Keep those hand wipes nearby because you'll need them when you're done! We asked the young lady behind the counter for some since we didn't see any out in the open. If you're a burger lover of any sort, you gotta get TEDDY'S!!!

PRO: * delicious, especially after a logging many hours on the beach (life is hard!) * noticeably better than the one on Kalanianaole Hwy * great service * ample parking and easy to get to on the way back (driving) from the beach CON: * a little annoying hearing their commercials on their inhouse "radio" * not much of a con as again, the burgers were delicious; however, not as tasty as Kua Aina by the theatre which is the best burger place on Oahu ASIDE NOTES: * it was funny that they were specifically recommended to me by the Kailua Chamber of Commerce, which had a tiny office in the strip mall across the road; kudos to their CoC cuz they were right on!

Very, very good juicy burgers and fries. 100% ground chuck and fresh! Lots of different sauces and burger toppings you can choose from, but even simple is best: 7 oz. bigger burger with cheese, lettuce and sauce. Yum, yum, yum! Perfect after a day of snorkeling or hiking... then you won't feel so bad about the calories consumed ;)

food is ONO! maybe they fired the rude cashier at the Kailua one because the service was fast, efficient and friendly. when we got there the line was LONG! but it went pretty fast, no complaint there at all. only thing---the ice chute in their soda fountain has more moss in it than a rock in Sacred Falls! GRODY!!!! i'll definitely go there again--but i'm checking the condition of the soda machine (well at least its ice chute) before i order any drinks...or maybe just bring bottled water or get a shake.

I've been here on many occasions, but went today since I was on that side of the island for a workshop. Everyone in my office wanted me to pick up Maui Tacos, and while it's good, I wasn't in the mood for Hawaiian style Mexican food. Sure the service is slow and the place is tiny, but I was just gonna grab and go, so I called in my order. I ordered my usual, a spud burger with fries, but instead of a beef burger, I decided to get a turkey burger and I also added grilled onions. The burger was surprisingly flavorful and very moist. Their secret sauce is delicious (a variation on thousand island) and goes great with the fries too. The hash brown patty on the burger makes the burger even more carbtastic, and it helps soak up the juices from the burger and the secret sauce. Their fries are okay, though I can't judge them since I left them in a bag for too long, so they were soggy. It was nicely seasoned too. Seriously...these are my favorite burgers on the island.

For whatever reason, I've always ended up at a Teddy's Bigger Burgers when I'm extremely hungry or there isn't any other place I'm interested in dining at. As my rating states, the burgers are OK but I've definitely experienced better. I've been to the Kailua location twice and this was by far the worse experience. The cashier was unfriendly and scary with a huge septum piercing and she got the order wrong. Thankfully she messed up mine instead of my friend's because he's a lot more sensitive to certain things than I am. The food is definitely overpriced and is targeted towards the Japanese tourists that pass through Kailua, just like the Waikiki location.

Teddy's is a good place for burgers, but they seem to be over-rated. The taste of their burgers is fine, but they don't seem to cook it to your request and they are sloppy in filling your order (they forgot half the meal), plus they are SLOW! I wouldn't go back. The price was fine, I got out of their for under $9.

This is hands down one my favorite burgers I have ever tasted! I love the variety of burger options to how many ways you can order your fries. Their peanut butter shakes are to die for (my hubby's fave)! I love that it's always packed and has a great feel to it. For a 'fast food' option, they sure are amazing. I am from California and automatically compare it to ' In n Out'. It goes above and beyond In n Out. If I had the choice It'd be Teddy's EVERY time. OH and it's Bring your own alcohol as well.

  • Kaui G.

So the burgers have the consistency of a sponge as well as the taste!! If not for the other toppings I put on it I would not have been able to get past 1 bite!! Nit to mention the burger was Soo pink. Me being pregnant that was just disappointing!! So left hungry n disappointed. Won't be going back!!

  • Scott L.

Angie W. is right... after the beach this is a great stop. For whatever reason it seems to be so much better than the Waikiki location. It may take a while to get your burger because there are so many people, but it is well worth the wait. The burgers, no matter which you pick, are so juicy and tasty. Fries are pretty good too. It's about a block and a half from Boots and Kimo's... if you have to choose between the two, please do go to Boots & Kimo's though!!!

Whenever I'm in Kailua, I'm torn about where to eat since there are so many good places. Teddy's Bigger Burgers is one of them. It's kind of pricey for a cheeseburger, but so worth it. It's better than In and Out on the mainland. It can get crowded and busy inside of Teddy's but that's one of the ways you can tell that you're about to eat something delicious. You can order a "bigger" burger, but I just get the regular "big" size since it's still already pretty big. I usually order a cheeseburger, but I've tried the burger with bacon and blue cheese and that was REALLY good. It kept me full the whole day.

BEST BURGER IN MY LIFE!!(not counting homemade) The burger dropped me to my knees and I still had to drive back to Mililani. I am sad to say we don't have on on the right coast but Five Guys has attempted to be a decent sub. I had a #3 with cucumbers, avocado, shredded cheese, mushrooms, ketchup, mayo, mustard, and the black mans life blood..... hot sauce. Needless to say it ended up being a knife and fork affair. And the fries....*whew*! 5 stars for the food, 4 for almost dying in a water puddle on the floor.

One of the BEST burgers I've ever had! (The best still goes to Bud's Burgers in Vallejo CA) The burgers are big fat and juicy. The fries are pretty good, though greatly overshadowed by the burger. I was never brave enough to try the biggest burger on the menu. They serve Pepsi and the ambiance is like that of an old diner. I love the mural on the wall, very classic.

Awesome burger! Only ate there once so far but it was delicious! Friends told me the Kailua one is the best they had! I plan on trying the others out but I'll definitely eat at the Kailua one whenever I'm in the area. People might say that the burgers should all be the same as the other locations, but that's not true in general. Cooks don't all cook the same! I won't judge till I try the rest of the locations.

great burgers. Probably the best o the island. You can choose from three different sizes. It gets expensive though. Much of the time the parking is bad because of so many people. The fries are my favorite you can choose the topping for an extra fee which is worth it. The milkshakes are fantastic is good.

After a day of riding the bus from Waikiki and playing at Kailua Beach, we were HUNGRY. This place was not terribly far from the beach and close to our bus stop. I had the Cajun burger, my husband had the teri burger, and my daughter had the kid's burger. They all came out giant, hot, juicy, and very satisfying. The fries were good, could have been crispier, but a good accompaniment to the burgers. In our past trips we've tried Kua Aina and Cheeseburgers in Paradise, but this place is far superior. We wished we had a few more days to come back and try the other burgers on the menu, but there were only so many days and so many meals. Definitely on our list when we return.

Great place to grab a burger, fries and milkshake after half a day of kayaking. The spicy garlic fries were delicious and the burger was nice and juicy. Teddy's gets 3 stars for their food and diner, but an extra star for their ultra think milkshakes! YUMMY! After eating half of the milkshake (yes, eating...it was that thick) I snuck over to the soda machine and made a Root Beer Float! =)

There are very few food establishments which cause me to eat like a true heffer. I eat a lot, but I do try to hold down a dainty eating style, you know--just so I don't shame my Mom. At Teddy's I can consume a burger faster and with more passion than any boy I am dining with. I don't do this to prove anything, its just what happens when I get a cajun burger in my hands. Their burgers are perfectly cooked and seasoned, juicy and wonderful. I can definitely kill one of their burgers with absolute ease. Shamelessly I've received "DAMN KATE, you're finished?" twice in one trip.

We ordered at 11:45, just before the influx of tourists. We waited for 25 minutes and only received our order after we inquired about it. Something about our orders "being separated." Burgers and fries were cold. Burgers might have been satisfactory had the order been given to us in a timely manner. At $25 for the both of us, we expected better service and expected a better product. This was an unpleasant experience.

This is a great place for a good, juicy burger, and they have great chocolate shakes! I refuse to eat fast food burgers, but love going here every once in a while. The burgers are not too greasy and they have a great range of toppings. The fries are ok, but the onion rings are yummy. The kids love it too and can share a burger they're so big. Be prepared for a crowd if you come during meal times, but you can always get take out and drive 5 minutes and enjoy it on the beach!

Love the never ending variety of toppings and versatility in burger size. The ingredients always taste fresh, and the service is always friendly and pretty fast. The shakes are amazing, too! 10% military discount also. Overall a great burger joint, though it's a little slow if there's a line.

Great go-to place. They serve some very tasty burgers and some unusual specialty burgers such as their potato burger. Definitely worth a try if you are willing to wait during rush-time.

These are all over the island which is good because I know if I want a good burger...there's one in the neighborhood. The usual order is the #2 bigger combo with a spud (a hash brown on top the burger). Free refills on drinks makes washing down the burger easier without having to conserve your beverage. Until I try The Counter...this place is my go to burger spot.

    (5)
  • Jan O.

I had the 7oz. burger combo with mushrooms and it was awesome! The burger was juicy and done perfectly. We should've got extra special sauce for dipping our fries in because it was just that good! It was definitely worth the drive for us.

Lame. Ate there and was so excited to try the burgers? When we ordered, the server described this juicy burger to us that was featured as one of their daily specials? We proceeded to order and then... was shocked when we got our bill. Turns out that all the juicy extras were add-on prices to their regular burger menu. To make things worse, they totally got our order wrong. Finally when we sat to eat, it was soooooooooo sub-par. You want a really good burger? Get on a plane to L.A. and head to In-n-Out Burger. That's the ticket!!!

Good place to try, but I think they might want to expand their kitchen. The wait on the food itself is pretty slow. I liked the atmosphere though, you could sit outside or inside; inside being more retro looking. I had the Hawaiian Style, which was a 5 oz. beef patty with a grilled pineapple slice (extra $1.00, lol) they also charge you for grilled onions on your burger. It's a pretty expensive place, but it does taste good. I liked their buns too, it was big and soft, hehe.

I can't think of a negative thing about Teddy's. The burgers are awesome, the staff is great, and when my cat was stuck up in a tree they came with a ladder and rescued him. Okay, the last part is a lie. I don't have a cat. But if I did, and it got stuck in a tree . . . well, I doubt that they would come rescue it. So, that's one negative thing.

I really like this place, especially with not-so-many food choices in Kailua. Burgers are reliably good and service is pretty fast and good. I'm a sucker for Burgers on the Edge on the Leeward side, but Teddy's just holds down the fort on the Windward side. I think the quality of the meat is better at Teddy's, but I like all the topping options at Burgers on the Edge. Oh, and BYOB which is really sweet.

This place is so overrated. The burgers are ok, but definitely not the best on Oahu. The best goes to The Counter. So for the price it's definitely not worth it in my book. YMMV

Tasted my first teddy's burger here years ago and it was DELISH! Its like our version of In n Out (if only we had that) because their burgers rock. My dad also says the pastrami burger here is also really good and they really piled it on. Their fries are also really good but when I we went last weekend they were really soggy, as if they were left to sit until they were gone. The special sauce on the burgers is also good but really makes the burger messy, along with its juiciness but in a good way =P. The cashiers are eh, seems like they just want you to order and get out of the way for the next customer. I mean, i can understand because its SUPER crowded at lunch time and the place is so darn small to begin with but come on, at least give a little smile or a nice greeting. but whateves, still good and having those wet naps are also a plus!

You have not had a burger until you've had one of Teddy's! OMG Why don't we have one of these in CALIFORNIA?!?!? I went here after a long day on the soft sand of Kailua and MAN...this hit the spot. I had a cheeseburger with cheddar cheese and grilled onions. It was huge! The bread was super soft and sweet. It really felt like a quality burger. You could tell by the meat that they weren't messing around. It was by far the best burger I have tasted. The fries were big and crispy and they had cold ranch for dipping- always a plus. I TOTALLY recommend this place if you are in the area. The place has a classic fifties diner feel and is located in a small shopping center with a boutique that looked like it had a lot of cute dresses and tops for the ladies, but unfortunately it was closed at the time. But who needs a cute dress when you can chow down on a burger? PLUS: The waiter looked like Shia LaBeouf. yaw zuh! :)

Came here with the wife for a late lunch. Got the kailua burger 5 oz and she got the regular 5. These are massive burgers! The flavor combinating on the kailua was dope. Teri and mushroom and pickle yessir. However, comma, the extra toppings cost almost as much as another burger. It was worth it tho. Also liked the colorful beach flavor decor and 80s music is the best soundtrack for any meal.

Ah, Teddy's! The heart attack waiting to happen that is conveniently located only a couple miles from home! I originally hail from the Golden State, and I'm constantly hearing people compare Teddy's to In-N-Out. To me, there's not comparison! By that I don't mean that one is better than the other, they are simply different types of burger joints. For one, Teddy's has a much more complex menu than In-N-Out ever will, secret menu included. Second, Teddy's is more of a gourmet burger, with all the fancy schmancy names and the insane amount of topping options. That being said, it makes it easier for me to sleep at night knowing I can remain faithful to my ever-pleasing In-N-Out, while still touting Teddy's praises! The burgers here are massive, juicy, and downright phenomenal! I usually opt for the smallest one, okay I'll cop to it, I've been known to order the bigger if I'm really hungry! I get it Hawaiian style (teri burger, with pineapple), then add grilled onions, and swiss cheese! Holy hell. The burger itself is usually too wide for me to actually fit my mouth around, but I'll undoubtably overcome this obstacle and down the entire thing, along with fries. The result? Food baby quadruplets!! Their fries are also great! I've gone in and just ordered fries before! They're thick, almost diner style, golden crispy, and just enough salt! Bonus points for the employee walking around passing out wet naps, cause anyone who's done Teddy's right knows a regular napkin just won't cut it!!

Thought I'd try this since the place got so many good reviews. I arrived there at 12:30 lunchtime on a Sunday....so in hindsight it might have been a bad idea. The place was crowded with hardly anywhere to move. Teddy's is a rather small place with maybe 4 tables inside that accommodate 4 people. About another 4 tables meant for 2 people. It also had a small area outside with another 4 or 5 tables. The food took a while to get because it's made to order. Big plus. I had the Kailua burger....which quite frankly has been done before almost everywhere. Think mushroom and Swiss cheese burger. The fries where over seasoned with Cajun to the point of me leaving most behind. All in all it was ok. My biggest gripe was that I could have gone to Chillies or One of the other chains and had the same thing, in a sit down quieter environment served at my table instead of standing over someone else's shoulders waiting for them to get done....oh....and I would have paid the same price. Who ever decided to give this place a one $ sign needs to be fired!!! 3 five ounce burger combos for $32.00 whatever bro!!!! In conclusion....overpriced for what you get.

My experience tonight: 630PM- I phone in my order 650PM - I arrive to pick up my order The girl at the register looks at the bags on the counter, Then she asks me, "Could your order be under a different name" I say, "No". She eventually produces a bag of food... I take the bag home. 7pm - I arrive home, unpack the bag to find it is the wrong order. 705PM - I call in to ask about the order... the same girl answers the phone. "Oh, you're the one we couldn't find the bag for... what did you order again?" I repeat my order and return to the store. 720PM - I arrive at the store. The cashier hands me a bag of food "The bags were mixed up, here you go" .... THE FOOD WAS COLD... MY ORIGINAL FOOD ORDER. 745 PM - I receive my food order. Take it home. The burgers were practically RAW... not eve close to Medium, as their menu says. Ive been to Teddy's on numerous occasions. They have a high turnover of staff The lines are long the food comes out wrong half the time, especially when you order to go as Joe Pesci says, "They FU$@ you at the drive through"... or in this case, the "to go". I was offered no apology, no price adjustment, no NOTHING. Just plain bad business. Sad sad sad.

I used to be a fan of Kua Aina, but now I go to Teddy's. Big JUICY burgers at a non-gourmet price. Service was good, restaurant was clean, wait wasn't too long. I took my friend who was visiting from Oakland here, and she insists is was the best burger of her life. The only thing I would say they need to improve on is their buns. Their buns remind me of my ex -- large, dense, and tasteless!

"Meteor, we call this here being in burger heaven." Joe Dirt Luckily for me, I wasn't eating The Bandito off of a big ol' frozen chunk of airplane poopy, but I really enjoyed it anyway. I chose the 9oz. patty (I like it big), and it came spackled with melted cheese sauce with jalapenos, lettuce, tomato, and onion. The meat was firm yet juicy, and still perfectly pink. Also, the buns were soft and fluffy, but still held firm despite all of the deliciously greasy fillings. Mm, mm, mm. And for all of you dirty minds out there, I said, "home is where you make it." Everybody know dat, dang.

Ordered a Teddy's Original Bigger Burger, Garlic Fries, and Coke. The reception was good, nice smiling workers who took my order, and I was given a vibrating light box to let me know when my order was up, so of course I decided to sit and look around. It was a Friday night and so the flow of customers was pretty steady, and the line was a little overwhelming for a new trainee. So to be proactive one of the other counter person went out to the line and started taking orders and made the line move more efficiently. Impressive and pro active for such a young person. The food: The garlic fries were tasty, but I was expecting actual minced garlic instead of garlic salt. The burgers are all cooked medium rare so if you don't like to see pink meat, this is not the place for you. The burger was very tasty, there is a secret sauce Teddy's used, and I have to agree that it does make the burger melt together, even more so because it is a mystery.

Kind of small, limited seating. One has to sit outside but the weather out here is to die for. Who can complain, it's Hawaii! .... Havent been back since this trip but Im waiting for them to open their new location in Las Vegas from what Ive been told. I would honestly visit them on the weekends if one opens, and I live out in Los Angeles

My husband and I ate at the Teddy's Bigger Burgers out in Kailua this past weekend and ended up being pretty disappointed with the food and service. For a seemingly slow little burger joint, (in comparision to the one in Hawaii Kai's Koko Marina) we ended up waiting twenty-five minutes (almost a half an hour!) for our order. My husband's burger was cold, our onion rings were covered in batter and oil and my fish burger was tasteless and oily. Also, many of the tables looked sticky and needed a wiping. This particular restaurant unfortunately gets a "never again" in my book. Food: ** Service: ** Ambiance: ** Value: ***

Perhaps you can't go wrong much when dining at a place whose name comes up almost every time there's a discussion or debate on "the best burger place." If you've been to Teddy's Bigger Burgers, you'll know why their name gets thrown into the ring. Quite often, good and big burgers struggle with the balance between a tasty, juicy burger and a burger that doesn't soak the bun and make it a soggy mess to eat. Teddy's struck a great balance the night I ate there! It was odd to me that though the burger patty was juicy and the bun was soft and not dry, I was NOT swimming in a pool of oil and burger juice! I LOVED it! Although a worker came out with wet-naps, I didn't need them. I also had me a chocolate-peanut-butter malt, which took a while to make but was worth the wait. My wife and some friends and I had gone on a Saturday night. There was ample parking, and the restaurant was packed inside, but had a few open tables outside as well. So, we got to enjoy some good burgers and some clean, fresh air.

You know how people who move from CA to Hawaii go through In-N-Out Burger withdrawals? Well, I took a trip to CA last month, and I was jonesing for Teddy's - and I was only gone a few days!!! In-N-Out has nothing on this place. Seriously. Nice sized portions, and I don't know what they put in the special sauce, but it just makes the burger.

this place has insanely huge and delicious burgers. when i went, i split a spud burger and grilled pineapple chicken sandwich with garlic fries and it was a pretty good mix to let me try a few things :) the chicken sandwich got soggy, so it wasn't my fave, definitely liked the spud burger. not on the healthy side at all, but i assume you don't expect this if you're going here. think souped up In-n-Out Burger. caution: there's usually a crowd and not a great place to wait for your food, so that can get annoying.

I haven't had a burger since June 2000, so I'm always on the lookout for a good veggie or turkey burger. I can confidently say that I found the best veggie burger at Teddy's! My friend and I ordered a veggie burger (topped with sauteed mushrooms and jalepenos) and fries to share. The veggie patty looked really moist, very different than regular patties that look (and taste) dry and grainy. There were water chestnuts in the patty. I hate water chestnuts, but the crunchiness actually made it better. Next time, I will not be sharing! The first few fries were tasty, but they soon lost their appeal. Just okay. Nothing to Yelp about. 1 star off for the price. A burger and an order of large fries cost almost $10!!!

The burgers here are da bomb! Sooo good and juicey! After a long day at the beach, I was in the mood for a burger. Teddy's kicks the crap out of in-n-out or any world renowned "burger joint" or chain in the west coast. Best burgers I've ever had in my life.. though I feel absolutely disgusted in myself after scarfing down a 9 oz topped with swiss and bacon! The bun is spongy and slightly sweet, the patty at a medium rare is fresh and beefy with the juices running clear, lettuce crisp as can be, tomato is big and is tasted in every bite with the special sauce dripping off the sides. Until proven otherwise, Teddy's produces the best burgers on the face of the planet. Man, I think Teddy's is the number one thing I miss about Hawaii. That's kinda horrible. (this review pertains to the selection of beef and veggie burgers only. I rate the chicken and fish selections as average.)

Tried Teddy's for the first time...um how do you say...yummy! Just moved here from Los Angeles...it's kinda like Fatburger and In-and-Out mixed! Perfect, que no? You get your choice of 5, 7, or 9oz pattys. The meat is fresh and pattys are perfected cooked (medium). The secret sauce is GREAT! They have turkey burgers too. Gotta try next time...and believe me, there will definately be next time.

One Word....Awesome. The burger had such a great char-grilled flavor and the toppings were so fresh on the burger.

Yumm!!! love the burgers especially with the Teddy's teriyaki sauce... dripping while you eat that burger bite by bite... gotta love it! It is the best burger on da island! It is big and juicy... just the way I like it!

Went in after a looong hike to Olamanu...no bathrooms so we had to go down to Starbucks to wash our hands to eat (a MUST after hiking and climbing rocks all day). I ordered first of our group of 6, and after everyone with me already had their food I asked the guy at the counter what the problem was...seems he put the wrong number on my order so it had been sitting there for 10 minutes. Cold. Cheese didn't even melt, it just got cold. And they didn't care. I know their burgers are usually good, but this whole experience blew it for me. I'll never go back to this place.

These are the absolute best burgers on Oahu. Trust me, we spent a month eating burgers all over. Don't get fancy on your first time... keep it simple and enjoy.

  • Ricky M.

Teddy's prides itself on tasting like a burger that you'd make in the backyard. I'd have to say it succeeds. It's tastes very similar to my homemade burgers. I had the Spud burger which is a burger with a hashbrown patty on top of your meat. Good Stuff, I'd go back for sure.

Very good burgers, great shakes, decent fries, cramped location. Teddy's is definitely in contention for the best burger in Hawaii, and on burger merit alone, it would rate four stars. The overall feel of the place, the fries, the chicken, and the cramped quarters make it a sold 3 star choice. Prices are good, not great, but the quality is consistent. Not a world-class burger, but almost. Will definitely satisfy your burger craving, and fill you up and then some.

Was really worth the wait! It was nice juicy and big. I got the Kailua burgar it was about $8. I absoluty adore there fries also! Yum! It is delicious also afterwards you can stop by lanikai juice to pick up some really good acai!

Went here one day while venturing out in Oahu. Hubby had the biggest burger they offer and said it was delicious. The fries kinda left something to be desired. I had the chicken sandwich w/ mushrooms and cheese and it was DELICIOUS! Definitely enough for 2 sandwiches. My brother-in-law has a hash brown on his burger, and that looked pretty tasty and he said it was good. I'd definitely try them again and get a burger this time!

Okay, I've only been in Hawaii 7 days and I've already been here twice. Once after kayaking on Saturday and yesterday after I went SUPing at Kailua Beach. Bad idea to SUP in Kailua on a windy day, but good idea for burgers. It's super casual, but not a restaurant, so don't expect sit-down service. The first time I just got the #1 combo, the second time I decided to upgrade that with a spud burger. It's where they put a piece of hash brown on your burger. You can't honestly taste it too much in the pile of burger, thick-cut pickles, tomato, lettuce and their special yellow sauce, but it did add a bit of crunchy-crispy goodness from the potato-y crust. Both burgers were good and cost me around $8 for the combo. Self-service fountain drinks. If you go there early or late (11:00 am or 1:30 pm) for lunch, you can usually avoid the crowd and it's pretty fast. Except for on weekends when it's just kind of nuts all the time. Only a few tables inside and out, so plan on waiting for your food and snag a table when you can. If you can't find parking in that immediate lot, just park to the left of Teddy's (if you're looking at it) and there's a lot there with more chance for parking. Customer service is good as the kids behind the counter are very nice. It's a good burger, but not the best burger ever. I would say I liked it better than Kua 'Aina. Please don't beat me up for being honest.

OOooooh... I LOVE Teddy's! Their burgers are so big that I usually opt for the Kiddie Combo. Gotta get their "special sauce!"

  • Nicole K.

teddy's bigger burgers never fit inside of my mouth. i always have problems when i eat there. i like the retro look inside. there are always kids when i go, and it's cute to see them trying to eat the burgers.

Yum! Teddy's offers great hamburgers that are always hot & fresh. They also make it the way you want it and rarely make mistakes. If you ever hear anyone saying the shack has good burgers make sure to kick them and tell them to try Teddy's it's soooooooo much better.

I thought the burgers were a bit expensive for what you get. My burger was so dry that I couldn't get myself to finish it.

    (2)
  • Melissa K.

Yum, I love the burgers here! I would recommend calling in your order first if you are going to take it to go because it is always pretty busy there. I like to take it to go b/c the tables are usually not that clean and it can get a little too crowded.

I am a HUGE Teddy's fan!! The best burgers I have ever had, in fact I am going there tonight for dinner. But I had to put a low rating for this location in Kailua because I was so disappointed and depressed. Starving after a day at the beach I went with 3 friends to get a burger. The wait time is usually longish but its always worth the wait. But when all my friends had their food and 5 minutes later I had nothing I went up to ask. The woman at the counter seemed annoyed and said it would be up in a second. A little while later my friends had been done eating and I had no food. I went up again with the same response, then my friend did. The girl at the counter was a b**** everytime we talked to her. Finally I got my food but we had to leave quick. When I opened it up in the car it was cold, soggy, sloppy and gross. It had clearly been sitting their for long time. I have to say this is the ONLY bad experience I have had at Teddy's and I am a regular customer. Hopefully it was an employee issue and they have taken care of it by now. I highly recommend the restaurant tho

My wife split a 9oz burger, and it was more than enough. Medium-rare was perfect. The fries were awesome too. I wanted to drive down here everyday, but my wife didn't want me having an ecstasy-induced heart attack. Just a good quality burger.

  • Trevor F.

Teddy's is by far the best burger on the island. Second only to "Five Guys Burgers and Fries" in the D.C./Northern Virginia area, but that's another review. Teddy's burgers are big and juicy, and I am a big fan of a juicy burger. The vibe is 50's diner, and if you can't find a place inside, just grab a seat outdoors (you are in Hawaii after all) I go for the #2 Bigger Combo with bacon and avocado, garlic fries, and the peanut butter shake (this thing is crazy good). Not for the faint of heart, go hungry and leave happy.

Best BURGERS in KAILUA!!! Good chocolate milkshakes too!

    (5)
  • Nani S.

By far the best burgers in Kailua. Great atmosphere, kid friendly. Yummy milk shakes and great chicken tenders too! I wish they had a bigger location because the line can be intimidating, especially if you have hungry kids. Oh well...good excuse to go shopping at Global Village.

  • Will M.

If you're lucky enough to find yourself in Kailua, Hawaii (O'ahu) and you're feelin' a lil' hungry, make your way to Teddy's. Once there, you'll find some of the juiciest burgers and creamiest shakes/malts anywhere! Teddy's Burgers... no ka oi!

  • Felicia T.

Liked this place a lot. Large portions, and nice special sauce as well. Some of my family is vegetarian, and everyone had something to eat (Teddy's has a veggie burger on the menu). Garlic fries were pretty good, although they did seem a little dry. Good burger place to stop for lunch while in Kailua.

Certainly a step up from other fast food places. The burgers were good and we liked both the fries and the onion rings.

    (3)
  • Milo R.

If you want a good burger and in Kailua, Teddy's will full fill your appetite. The onion rings are great too. The only other burger place that compares is "Burgers on the Edge" You'll love their burgers. The only thing that turned me off the last time I went was the employee was pushing the ice with his hands and pounding the ice in the ice machine with a spatula. The establishment was kind of dirty and trash cans were over flowing.

  • Jess M.

For what you are Teddy's- you are 4 stars. I can only really say this about you and In N Out with regards to burger joints. I love your regular burger, I adore your veggie burger, your special sauce is ABSOLUTELY delicious. I always order you topped off with a thick slice of pineapple grilled to perfection- and I am never disappointed. There is also something about your super soft buns that make everything melt in my mouth. Your fries are good, but they don't stand out- however you do make a very delicious Malt. I make it a point to hit up Teddy's whenever I'm on the island and you should too!

7/29/07: Picked up six #2 combo meals (7 oz burger, fries and drink) for the family - tab was $52.00. I have alittle higher expectations when one's at a higher-end burger restaurant, this place didn't meet it. The atmosphere aesthetically was fine, but the music was quite loud. The staff behind the counter were very friendly and courteous, however, they sent someone around the restaurant to have guests fill out survey cards. I agreed to fill one out, but indicated that it would be hard to rate the food since it was my first visit and I was still waiting for my food (had not yet eaten anything yet) - the girl was really pushy and asked me to rate their food by simply tasty a fry. Anyways, food prep takes longer than most to-go places (10-15 minutes so plan accordingly). When we finally arrived back at home (other side of Kailua), the burger was very disappointing! Mine was very salty and so were three others in the order. The 7 oz burger is a very healthy serving (size, not nutrition). I'm not sure I would go back, alittle pricy for the quality of food that is served.

Having been a big fan of Teddy's in Kailua, going 2+ times a month for more than 2 years we have noticed a major decline in the quality of burgers. As recently as last year the special sauce was oozing out from the burgers, the meat reached the edge of the burger, and wipies were graciously given out by a friendly server. But in the last year my family (and all the visitors we bring) have noticed that the sauce is barely there even when we ask that is be liberal. Wipies are hard to come by. And just yesterday my "big" meat looked about 3 oz and it literally looked like it had a bite taken out of it. And we also ordered a Kailua and a Teri and when they arrived at the table my guest asked what kind of teri sauce was used because they looked dry. The server said they were out of teri! They served these burgers to us without telling this important detail! And we had to ask that something be done about it. When asked about the decline, the server usually just says "Oh, it must be a new person." And for a while I believed it, but its been too many times buying extra sauce just to have enough to spread across the entire bum amd turning in burgers for the wrong order. Yes, these issues are corrected if we point them out, but how often do you like getting up and asking for things to be right. I had to eat my burger after everyone was finished with their yesterday because they had to cook another meat. All my guests had to wait! Wish it werent so since Teddy's is an establishment in Kailua. Hope things improve.

I am unclear why some people only gave Teddy's 3 stars, but I L-O-V-E-D their burger. A few of my friends and I came from a 4.5 mile hike to fill our tummies and souls with energy and delicious burgers. It was my first time there so I ordered the Spud burger with mushrooms and pepper jack cheese. The Spud burger came with a hashbrown on top along with the regular fixins'. The Spud burger was good but I am sure their regular burger would have been great too. They offer big, bigger, and biggest size burgers for you to select from. Oh yeah, and their fries were yums too! This place is definitely on my "To eat list" for hawaii.

the photos look better than it actually tastes. at least its made to order. the burgers are huge but not very memorable. the prices can add up quickly. pull out the coupon from the kailua map or free magazine. if you are tired of sushi or local food and need some non-expensive red meat (buzz's), you can go here.

    (3)
  • Todd E.

The burgers are big but nothing all that special. Sometimes the burgers come so heavily loaded and dripping with sauces and condiments you can hardly taste the burger. While not outrageous, prices aren't exactly cheap, either.

  • Margie N.

Delish burgers, much much better than fast food restaurants for sure. After hiking all morning, taking Teddy's to the beach and relaxing was such a welcome break. Fries aren't bad, not necessarily memorable though. Depending on the day/time there may be a wait, and it should be noted that this place ain't all that big...

  • L M.

I ate their standard hamburger and fries. Everything must be cooked to order so be patient. Lots of tourists coming to eat here and that's good for the owners. Otherwise, locals may not be able to drive enough business to support this place. The young couple next to me spoke some kind of eastern European language. They were having a great time.

  • Shyra S.

The 5 stars is for Isaac . He took my order and I mentioned I was going to Jamba Juice while they made my burger and I'd be back to pick it up. The wait at Jamba was taking longer than usual and I looked up and Isaac brought my order to me at Jamba Juice. Teddys... Give that guy a raise. He went above and beyond and keeping employees like that happy will only grow your brand. (Btw I work in the customer service industry) Thank you!

I've been to Teddy's locations all Oahu. I like their turkey burgers a lot. Fries are good too. Quality is consistent at all the locations I've been through. Service at Teddy's is usually very friendly and solid. Why 3 stars? One word- service. In my opinion i had the crappiest service at the Kailua location today. Amanda took my order today. Amanda was curt, surly and rude. I saw her rolling her eyes when people asked her questions about the menu. Hope management works with Amanda. IMO she's tarnishing the otherwise stellar Teddy's experience.

Teddy's was recommended by some local friends, and I didn't exactly want to vacation in Hawaii to eat burgers, but I thought hey let's give it a go. Definitely worth spending a precious meal on this place! The menu is difficult to decipher with all the upgrading and specialty burgers, but I suppose that's something you would get used to if you're a regular. Plus that makes me want to come back again because there are so many options. I ordered the Firecracker Burger, which I think is unique to the Kailua location. Sufficiently spicy and sooo good. The best part is that Teddy's uses my favorite brand of pickles (Claussen) in their burgers... yes I know I'm a pickle nerd. My friend got the Kilauea Fire Burger, which was good if you like the taste of BBQ sauce. On the side, we ordered the Garlic Butter Fries upon recommendation by the cashier, and I would now recommend them to others! YUM. The burgers can definitely get pricey if you want something a little more complex than just a normal burger, so the $ Yelp sign was rather deceiving. Overall I would definitely come back here and try to find their other locations around the world!

5 burgers, 5 fries, 5 drinks...$72. Number of orders messed up? 2 out of 5. The lady that took my order over the phone was very pleasant and thorough. Nice voice, good phone etiquette, and repeated my order (including the add-ons) back to me. She was great. The name on the receipt was Brenda, so good job Brenda. Went in to pick up my order, and I think it was Brenda that met me at the register. She repeated the order back to me again. All good. Unfortunately, it was the back of the house that needed to hear my order 3 times. Missed add-ons on two burgers. Before I left, I checked to see that I had 5 burgers, but didn't go as far as opening each burger to make sure they were prepared correctly. Should I have to do that? I don't work at Teddy's. As a customer, my part is to order and pay. I have to check each order to make sure the burgers I paid for are built according to how I ordered and was charged for them? $72 for 5 burgers, fries, and drinks. Teddy's should at least be building the burgers correctly. It ain't rocket science.

Stopped here for lunch yesterday. Had the medium Kaneohe combo burger. The burger had avocado, garlic, cheese, and bacon added. It was pretty bland despite all the extras. The fries were okay but a little thicker than I prefer; I did like the refillable soda. And something I'd like, if I were to return (which is pretty doubtful) is their BYOB policy. Yep, bring your own alcohol is possible. Decent burger is the best I can say. Mine are better at home.

It was extremely busy for a Tuesday night. Luckily, the line wasn't that long when our order was placed. Considering the line was constant throughout our meal, you could tell everyone was craving burgers. We upgraded to the garlic butter fries with our 5oz. combo meals. The sprinkling of cheese on top made it even better than I'm used to at other locations.

came in with my boyfriend, first he gets to the counter and the boy standing there ignores him doesn't say anything, then a girl walks up and she takes his order, he orders a burger with bacon cheddar garlic and Kilauea fire sauce, no receipt big mistake! 20 minutes later the burger comes out with avocado on it, not what he wanted so goes to the counter and tells them this is the wrong burger, the girls behind the counter immediately start giving him an attitude as if he messed up! uh No YOU MESSED UP! all he wants is his burger that he ordered and payed for! she says " oh what did you wanted the sauce on the side?" wait what? if that was the case he would have said the sauce is wrong not the burger! they don't even apologize! and then the cooks n the kitchen are yelling out oh sorry not sorry! very un professional, obviously these people don't care about there job but then again that why they work at a fast food joint, gave them one star because well he enjoyed his burger that they finally got right after another 20 minutes. definitely would not return to this location, the people who work at all the other teddy's burger are way nicer save yourself the anger, these workers need an attitude check!

This is one of my top fav. Place to eat in Oahu, and outside Oahu. Clean and price is reasonable, big portion and super duper yummy burgers. I had the Kailua and pineapple burgers with fries. I craved for it as soon as we got home from our 11 days vacation. I thought our Culvers burgers here in the Midwest are good, but after having Teddy's I became a big fan, I wish we have this place here in WI. One of the thing I will surely miss from Hawaii.

  • Cara P.

I used to visit Teddy's Bigger Burgers all the time after a beach sesh! However, one thing that I've noticed is that they're just too expensive! Recently, I ordered a Bacon Bleu Cheese Burger and the price came out to almost $10! That's just for one burger!! Although these burgers are pretty good, I just don't find it necessary to pay extra costs for ingredients (like Bleu cheese, bacon, etc) and condiments. Basically, you pay the set price for one of their original burgers but also pay for additives like pineapple, etc. What's most misleading is that they don't provide the total cost of the different burgers they offer. If you're on vacation, definitely a place to try! But if you're a broke college student looking for some quick, cheap eats, maybe once in a blue moon. But that's just me lol

Place is good. Ill start off by saying I'm not a HUGE burger guy, with respect to this place and the burger eaters but it was good. No complaints. If i were to compare it to some of the mainland places I've eaten at "slaters 50/50" or "umami" or "the habit" I would say its not as good but what they do, they do well. I say this too... its one of the better burger joints in Kailua for sure. Enjoy!

  • Amanda E.

One of the best fast food burger and fries I have EVER had. This is a must-visit when on the island. I had the cheeseburger with their special sauce, loaded fries with ranch dipping sauce, and a chocolate milkshake on all of my visits (totaling 5 times). I think I have dreamt of this food ever since I left the island, and it was the first meal I requested when I went back for a second time. The price is on par with other fast food burger joints, but obviously this is a step above McDonald's or Burger King. If you're looking for a quick bite to eat, definitely stop here. We came here because of it is conveniently located near the Marine Corps base, and it has good outdoor seating as well.

All Teddy's are NOT created equal. Kaneohe has been consistently exceptional and the University location has been pretty spot on too, so we tried out the Kailua Teddy's tonight out of convenience since we were in the area. Big mistake! Simple order: 1 garlic fries 2 Kaneohe burgers (avocado, cheddar, and bacon) 1 peanut butter shake The only thing that was right was the shake. The fries tasted old, stale as if it had been out for a while before getting served. Gross! The somewhat saving grace was the butter, garlic, and parmesan poured over the fries. But even that couldn't mask that these weren't fresh fries. The burger was charred and had a teriyaki taste with mushrooms and a white cheese on it....no avocado, no cheddar. Normally, I would have taken it right back but we went somewhere nearby to eat since there was no seating. At that point of utter disappointment, I had no interest in going back for them to maybe rectify a huge FAIL. Such a bummer.

This was my first time at the Teddy's in Kailua and you can't beat the burgers. It was cooked perfect and topped with good fresh produce. The reason why I gave it such a low ratting was the chicken strips, they were terrible. They came out burnt and when we asked about it they told us it was normal and the inside was cook just right. They were burnt and they taste burnt. Also, all the tables where dirty and sticky. It looked dirty inside.

We were looking for a local place to eat and stumbled onto Teddy's Bigger Burgers. We were tired after swimming in the Ocean and although the restaurant was a little chilly they had outdoor seating which made this perfect. The food was cooked to perfection and the Hand dipped Shake was simply amazing. Just like the Hawaiian Burger. We will definitely be back again! So glad we found Teddy's Bigger Burgers after swimming.

The burgers are great, the service by what seems an all High school staff is annoyingly inadequate! I phoned in my order to try and avoid the long wait and still ended up sitting 15 minutes while others who came after me ordered and picked up. Turns out my order sat in plain sight the whole time while staff diddled about. It will be a long time before I bother to go back!

I haven't been to a Teddy's in a while. Nothings changed. I got the western burger combo with fries and a peanut butter shake to go. There were 5 people ahead of me, but it took about 10 minutes for my order to be made. i was surprised that my burger wasn't soggy by the time i got home (10 minute drive). At the same time, the burger wasn't dry. I also like that they use disposable containers. No, not Styrofoam, but a plastic type box container. It fit the burger snuggly so it wasn't falling apart as it bounced around in the bag. As for the fries, there was no salt or seasoning. That made me sad. Also, they could put more peanut butter in their shake. I'm only getting a hint of the flavor. Oh yeah! They're also a partner with Hawaiian Airlines so you get something like 3 miles per dollar spent. That's the main reason why i came here.

I went here last night to grab a quick dinner with friends. I was really craving a burger and have come to know Teddy's as usually having the best. I don't know what has happened but man have they gone down hill... My burger was awful. I didn't think Teddy's was the kind of place to add filler to their meat but I guess they do now. My burger tasted like cardboard and had the texture of styrofoam. Even looking at the meat you could tell something else was in it. I would have complained but they were slammed and I wasn't about to wait. Seriously disappointed. I will definitely not be coming back now. Who knows where I can get a good burger?

What an utter disappointment. Went in on a whim tonight at 8pm and ordered the 5oz. Patty combo meal with mushrooms and Swiss burger and Cajun fries. First, it took a total of 29 minutes from when I paid to when I got my food. Which would be ok if it was piping hot and fresh. It was not. The entire meal was a major fail. The burger was half well done half rare. I took a bite and one side was cold and pink and the other was hot and gray. Did you forget that you shut off half your griddle cause it was 8:00pm?? I don't even know how else to explain a half done burger. The Cajun fries weren't even edible. They were hard and stale, like they been sitting under a heat lamp for a while, and there was hardly any seasoning on them. And they were warm at best. Most were actually cold. And all of this for $12.93! I'm not sure what the problem is at this place, the kaneohe location is so much better. I sure won't be coming back here. Too many other options for great burgers in Kailua, especially with fatboys across the way and the new mahaloha burger opening in a few weeks.

Dirtiest Teddy's I've been to. When I asked for a rag they looked at me like I was crazy. I said I'm sorry but the tables inside are so dirty I sat my family outside. But the tables outside are just as dirty. With a little smile she said she would clean our table. She did clean our table and never said a word to us. She didn't clean any of the other nasty tables so we watched others ask for the same thing. The same worker brought my food. Now when your burger is order Med. Yet comes cold and pink that's not a good burger. Ranch is a extra 50¢ even though your $12 burger is cold in the middle. Don't expect ranch for your nuggets either cause I was charged extra. This Teddy's burger is a dirty joke and they workers are rude kids that are in the face piercing stage. Eat some place else unless you just looking for a laugh.

Us Cali people are spoiled with good burger spots, yes I am the cliche lover of In-N-Out and have dined at 'gourmet' burger restaurants. I saw all of the great reviews while we were day trippin' in the Kailua area. My daughter was craving a burger and found back-to-back reviews for this location. It was just okay. The bread got a little soggy and the fries were just okay for my taste. For the price I paid, completely inflated due to the tourism of the area, I didn't really get any "bang for my buck". The service was also a-okay, but they do come out to serve you and they do take your order in line, when it starts to busy. I can understand why its a decent go-to place for the locals and tourists.

Really disappointed this evening! Ordered (2) Kaneohe Burgers, (1) Garlic Butter fries, and (1) peanut butter shake for take-out. The only thing that was done right was the shake. The garlic fries weren't very good. They were stale and tasted like they had been sitting out for hours. Yuck! The Kaneohe burgers we ordered were not prepped right. It was missing the avocado and cheddar cheese and had mushrooms and white cheese instead. Completely disappointed with Teddy's tonight. I don't think I'll be ordering from the Kailua location again. Teddy's Bigger Burgers usually has great service and has consistently been great with my orders. Tonight unfortunately has ruined that for me. It would have been easier if I had dined in because I could have taken my order back to be corrected, but I didn't discover any of this until I got home. So disappointed!

Update on my FOOD POISONING: Just vomited. Constant stomach pain & disgust for burgers now. Extremely dirty place & little care for the quality of their patties. My father also has nausea & feels like puking. Tried every other Teddys on the island & have NEVER had such a bad experience. When I go to Kailua I'll be sure to stay far away from this Teddys.

I love this place. The burgers are the best. It get pretty packed and cramped but it never seems to bother me. We no longer live in Hawaii and this place is all I ever think about.

So I debated for awhile about writing a review or letting it go but our visit really left me feeling sour and unsatisfied. So me and my bf came to eat right before he had work and ordered to dine in two burgers one was a combo. I forget his burger name but I got the bacado. Super yummy but I'm in love with the special sauce so I love it on the side instead of in my burger and always order one extra just for me. (That's exactly what we ordered this time, my burger with no sauce inside the sandwich but on the side and two EXTRA sauces. ) Well when we got our food I was expecting three sauces and when I asked the boy who brought our food out about it he looked confused and told us he would ask his manager about it. Couple mins later he comes out and tells us "that's how we do it if you want it on the side..." Seriously, did I just not explain it any better? Even tried to break it down for him but he still looked so confused so my bf told him never mind and we let it go. I'm so obsessed with the special sauce I dip fries and my burger in it so I was pretty upset. I guess I'm just so used to our usual Teddy's spot understanding and having our order correct to the tee. Thank Goodness we're hardly ever in Kailua. Won't bother coming to this location again. Maybe I just expect too much, but I mean doesn't everyone who eats out want their order exactly how they want it? Just a thought. Still love Teddy's tho!!

I wanted to like it better but they pissed me off in a few ways. I would go to Honolulu Burger Co first before I would go back to Teddy's. 1) menu lists specialty burgers... but no prices.... I ask clerk how much they cost, her only answer is "it varies depending on what's on them." Like I am supposed to stand there and analyze what they have described on each burger and then add up in my head the cost of each extra item ??? Just a blatant scheme to get you to order something overpriced is all I could figure.... otherwise why not just put the price? 2) 50 cents extra for spicy fries was a total waste; they just shake some seasoning on your fries that didn't make them at all spicy 3) they got 2/3 of our order wrong.... we ordered standard burgers pointing to the sign on the wall showing everything that comes on them and saying yes we wanted all that, give us everything, and were served completely bare plain burgers on buns. When I took them back up to the counter the woman said "you ordered them plain" which we absolutely did not. Her reply was "I can't take them back into the kitchen" so she gave us a dish of lettuce, tomato, and pickle to add to the burgers ourselves which meant we didn't get any of the supposed special sauce etc. On the plus side, the burger was OK, the fries were OK, and they do allow free refills on soda, so the $9.50 combo for burger, fries, and drink, is marginally better then Burger King. Also, the dining area has a nice local feel to it with painted surfboards, etc. $6.50 for a milkshake. One of our party said his burger was pretty raw despite ordering it medium. Oh yeah, the place is loaded with Japanese tourists, who did not know which order number was theirs. We watched one person bring a big bag of food back up to the counter and say it wasn't theirs, and then the counter person just walked around the counter and handed it to the correct customer who'd been sitting there waiting for it, and now got their food cold after it had been pawed through by the first customer .... I would not have been happy.... but it didn't seem to bother them, so .... whatever.

Great burger. This rating is just for their burgers and service. I think this is the best burger in Kailua. The burgers are fresh, juicy, and delicious. The basic burger comes with onions, lettuce, tomato, and pickles, on a grilled bun. You have a choice of a 5,7, or 9 ounce patties or you can get a double of any of them. The burgers are cooked to medium and topped with what tastes like a honey mustard sauce. Optional additional toppings are cheese (cheddar, American, Swiss, pepper jack), grilled onions, grilled pineapple, jalapenos, onion rings, spud, bacon, mushrooms, blue cheese, avocado, and pastrami. I prefer the onion rings to the fries. Crisp outside (if eaten fresh and hot) and made with real onions. They also have delicious thick shakes made with real ice cream. Also on the menu are chicken breast, veggie burgers, Turkey burgers, pastrami and fish sandwiches. (I haven't tried any of these I love the burgers) There's often a line and it will take about 10 minutes to get your meal once ordered. It's well worth the wait. I suggest eating the burgers there while they're fresh and not soggy from sitting. You can BYOB. The staff is usually friendly a year ago I wouldn't have said that. They've made great strides in customer service. While sitting Camille was moving nonstop cleaning tables as they opened. She even brought out my meal and was providing hand wipes to everyone dining in. I'd recommend Teddy's to any true burger lovers.

Just cut into my burger that I took home to share with my daughter and it was RARE! And I'm supposed to feed this to her? Also fries were stale. We came in right before closing, but timing shouldn't make a difference with quality. With this restaurant it does. I guess this one goes up there with the rest of the fast food chains. I gave a two star because I ate there one other time inside the restaurant and it wasn't too bad. Well I hope the owners or management reads this so they can do quality control and put the staff in check, that is if they want to keep a good name. I

I've visited this location a few times and have received okay service. My last visit was a bit disappointing. I ordered two milkshakes. These milkshakes were not mixed well, the rocky road shake (which I was under the impression that it would be a bit smoother) was chunky and pretty much just a few scoops of ice cream, a splash of milk, and maybe a few turns on the blender. But since we waited 20 minutes for these shakes we decided to not kick up a fuss and just filled out a suggestion card.

Ok so I live in Kailua and love the burgers they have BUT the server today was ridiculously surly. No smile of greeting, no please's or thankyou's. This treatment sadly was not just reserved for me - everyone got it. The inside of the glass doors were filthy - I understand that it is an incredibly highly trafficked store but that is why it needs to be cleaned and often. Only after a client asked, was a table cleaned. I hope that the manager of this store reviews both the positive and negative reviews on yelp and takes action

Burgers are so ono. I had the Volcano with a 9oz med rare and it was perfect. The jalapeno peppers just kicked it up too. The wife had the turkey berger and said it was bland with too much sauce. The fries were good too with the Kilauea hot sauce instead of ketchup. Parking is always a challenge. Customer service was friendly. For how busy it was our order was fairly quick. I need to remind my wife you can't eat healthy in a burger joint or you will keep asking for bites off my burger. Update: If you call in your order ahead of time there's a $2.00 charge on your receipt that says "express style". If you get there and pay for your order and its not ready yet, be persistent and step to the right side after waiting a while and ask if your order is ready because they won't call your number. I waited there for over 20 minutes until I asked and it was on the counter the whole time. Regardless I still would come back.

One of the best burgers! I got the Kailua and University burger. Both were amazing. I also got peanut butter shake and that was good too. Definitely would come back here again. Wish it's on the mainland too

Been going to Teddy's since they opened place is honestly getting worse every time . My last trip will be my last trip I had a charcoal burger I wouldn't have fed my dog . Once upon a time they had a great staff of competent young workers those days are long gone . My advice better to just buy the sauce and make your own at home

The pork was dry, they forgot the coleslaw and the umami fries were drowning in oil. Service was very slow. One of the worst dining experiences I have had.

Small place but my kahailua burger was good and the fries are crispy. The Kapiolani Teddy's is a little better and bigger. Good service though.

  • Lo W.

Teddy's, what did you do?! They changed their bun and it ruined everything. They also put about a teaspoon of special sauce on the burger - which was mostly soaked up by the dry, dense bun they now use. The place was completely empty when we walked in and I'd never seen it like that. I understand why now. The bun and sauce made their burgers special - now they're just okay. They're going to have some trouble now that Mahaloha Burger is open around the corner if they don't return to their roots.

The BEST HUMANGOROUS BIGGERS EVER! When I was in nursing school, my nursing friends would always talk about this place and so one day they decided to take me here. I ordered the Kailua burger and it was so juicy and full of flavor. The garlic fries goes well with it. I've also tried their milkshakes but I think it was too thick for me. Ever since that first time my husband and I always return when we're craving burgers. Staff are really friendly too!

Sorry but anyone who says this place is anything but mediocre has never had a good burger. I come from the land of five guys, hodad's and in-n-out. This place is a joke compared to any real, legit burger place. Frozen patties, bad fries, and bratty staff are a recipe for failure. I was actually surprised to find my burger fully cooked given all the reviews saying they serve raw burgers. That's about all that surprised me though. Very underwhelmed and definitely will not be back.

I don't usually eat burgers because they always fall apart on me but I love Teddy's Bigger Burgers! The menu is filled with burgers and sandwiches as well as additional toppings to cater to your taste preferences. They also have shakes and (seasonal?) specialty menu items. My favorite is the Kailua (Style) burger (teri burger with mushroom, swiss cheese, and grilled onions). Yum! There's lots of seats inside and outside of the restaurant. PS. Use your iDcard for 15% off on Monday to Thursday, and 10% off on Friday to Sunday.

I lived here for 5 years and Teddy's has always been my favorite for burgers. My gf and I split a 7oz blue cheese and bacon burger with all toppings with a small garlic butter fries and a drink. We paid $14 which for most is expensive but these are fresh burgers and far from a mcdonalds crap burger and fries so it was well worth it. The burger wAs cooked perfectly, toppings all fresh, blue cheese was great, and the fries....oh the garlic fries hit the spot. They weren't soggy like I was dreading. Customer service was great as usual from locals and would come back time and time again.

  • Leon H.

I love this place. The reason I gave this low rating was because they brought out our meals to out table which was nice but we were told our shake would be right out. It never came. I had to go ask for it and it was in their ice cream bin waiting for us to pick up. WHY? if I didn't come get it you should have brought it out to me as soon as it was made. Why bring food if you are not going to bring everything. Sorry to say I think this location the employees need to be spoken too. Other than that this franchise is great and never disappoints when it comes to the food. but like in everything customer service is everything.

Casual burgers that use good ingredients and meat from island cows. Teens and young twenty-somethings working behind the counter. They are thorough with wiping down the tables, although, the tables look twenty years old. On the budget prices. #mahalo!

Best burger place in Kailua. I like the variety and the food is good. They take IDCard, so you can get your meal discounted. I like their Kailua Burger and buffalo sauce and cheese tator tots. Their seasoned fries are really good too. The service is okay. It's a popular place to go and is always busy.

This place was pretty good food & value. Kids had a grilled cheese meal w drink & fries, kids burger w drink & fries. We also had the tater tots grilled to perfection & seasoned (good but slightly salty) my daughter loved them. Our cheeseburgers were tasty on a super soft bun. Overall decent burger place, very filling.

Having been away for a few years, I forgot just how tasty Teddy's burgers are, especially when they're covered in Teddy's special sauce! The fries are still only average, but with a side of the aforementioned sauce they fulfill the salt quotient quite nicely. I've now sampled most of the spicier offerings on the menu (Volcano, Cajun and a few specials) and while I've generally been a fan of most of them, the original "Big" with an extra side of sauce is where it's at!

Best burger in Kailua! So ono! If you're an avocado person, ask for some and you'll get half an avocado on your already delicious burger. Also, milkshakes are phenomenal. Don't forget about Military Monday, service members and dependents get a discount each Monday :)

Not as friendly or comfortable as the North Shore location. Everything extra costs extra... Everything! Sriracha sauce=$. This location is also thick with tourists and the kid working the counter had a tough time getting the order in. The "free offer" from Yelp for checking in was expired two months ago. Burgers were poorly put together but still tasty.

Teddy's... I actually feel a little silly writing a review for this place. They're so ridiculously good, they really don't need my help or praise! They're fast, affordable, delicious, and they're EVERYWHERE now! Seriously... they're on the mainland and Japan too I think! There are lots of burger joints on the island, but none of them come close to the value that Teddy's offers! Big, fat, juicy burgers flame broiled and served up with your choice of toppings and sauces. Fries, tots, and onion rings with about 5 different seasoning options. Thick thick thick (like the Williams sisters thick) shakes! Anyway... this review is getting painful to write. My stomach is twisting up in knots and my jaw is starting to cramp from the thought of those wonderful wonderful burgers. Thanks Teddy's... thanks for hurting me so good...

I pinned this place on Pinterest to try when we got to Hawaii. We found it and it was pretty good. They have 3 sizes of burgers and the small is big enough trust me! They have a shrimp burger which I think cost 13.00. I had just the normal run of the mill burger with no special sauce because the kid said it was like thousand island. He said it was mayo based. I don't like either so I got it without. Come to find out it was more mustard based. I love mustard so I would have liked it on my burger. I got the garlic fries where were pretty good. The kid dropped my garlic fries on the floor and all over a guy. So my next batch was fresh fresh fresh. My hubby ordered the Western bacon and cheese burger which as he put it was a mustard burger. He hates mustard and both the special sauce and BBQ were full of mustard. He finished his burger but did not like it at all. I don't think this place is better than in n out, fatburger or Lota Burger but it is better than BK and Mc'Ds. I wouldn't seek it out but if I was hungry and in the area I would stop in again.

I've been to 5 Oahu locations. All except this Kailua location were awesome. Why? Because you can only have your burger cooked one way. Well done. The cashier said because it has to be a correct temperature. I then asked that it not be dray. Sure enough the request was ignored. Sandwhich was dry as Kailua beach sand. I complained and was told so sorry. That's the only way we make it here. Avoid this location is all I can report. This occurred on Sunday noon 12/20.

Never again will we eat at Teddy's Bigger Burgers in Kailua. In fact, our experiences were so horrible that we do not want to go to ANY Teddy's on island. The first time we ate here, our food was good. It wasn't amazing, but it was a good burger place nearby for quick food. The second, third, AND fourth time we came here, we got the most raw burgers I've ever been served. The third and fourth times, we specifically asked for well-done burgers, so getting raw burgers was even more upsetting and disgusting. When we mentioned the raw burgers to them, they replaced them and threw in some fries, but the "manager" wasn't very worried. She was just like "Oh yeah, that happens a lot." Really? If this happens a lot, it should be fixed. Again, the burgers were okay the first time we went, but the last three times made it so that we will never return. Absolutely awful.

I wish I could tell you how the food tasted to me, but my meal was cut short and I'll never be back. We've heard so many good things about this place, but 'fast' food is not how we normally roll. A beautiful day and a junk food craving drove us to try Teddy's above the other neighborhood offerings. I should have known when I met our cashier. We were taking in the menu and had a few questions. He didn't like that. I asked about a burger size, he flipped his arm to the chart to the far right. Excuse me. He was bored. While we waited, I scoped out the joint and continued to regret the decision, but I figured we'd try it and move on in our culinary life. I watched happy guy continue to eye roll through transactions. Our food arrived and my super duper famous milkshake was missing. As we waited for it, I opened my garlic butter fries. They smelled awesome. And there is where my meal ended. A long black hair nestled around a few of the fries, topped with garlic!!! Nope. No coming back from that. I don't re-order, return or exchange food under any circumstances. Between the lukewarm and flippant service and the abundance of hair rocking in the kitchen, we're firmly off the fast food train.

I gave Teddy's a try a few years back and wasn't blown away. Lately, hearing all the hype about Teddy's made me want to give it another to to check out what I've been missing. Service: This place gets BUSY. The line was 6-7 people deep when I arrived, and there was a little bit of a wait to put in our orders. The food came out fast enough, the whole ordeal didn't take more than 15 minutes. I also loved that they came around with wet naps for your greasy hands post burger. Plus points! Atmosphere: Gaaah... This is where I'll be a little bit picky. The inside of this gets pretty cramped, especially with the constant stream of people coming in and out. There are only about 10 or so seats.... There is also seating outside, but this gets busy as well. Coming here at lunchtime on a Saturday was a little bit like declaring war to find a table. Food: Okay.... maybe this is where I messed up. I ordered the bacado burger. This is a original burger, the big size, and it comes topped with cheddar, bacon, and avocado. I was not disappointed by the toppings; the serving of bacon covered the burger and the avocado was a generous half of an avocado. The bun was fresh and toasty. The only drawback....? Was the burger itself. Yes, it was juicy, and yes, it was pretty big... But I found that it lacked flavor. The special sauce didn't do much to enhance the flavor... maybe next time I'll try the teri burger to gauge the difference. I also got the garlic fries after reading other Yelper's reviews... Though these were not what I expected. They were not as garlicky as I had hoped... but they were definitely tasty. These are definitely unique fries, and I would gobble down an order of these easy. Mmmm... Just thinking about them! Price: The price points here are O-K. The tab for 3 burgers ran about ~$40, which was a little more than I expected, but alright given that the burgers were better than what you would at a typical fast food joint. I do wish that the special burgers had a price listing, because the true prices do kinda sneak up on you when you're adding two or three toppings onto your burger. All in all, Teddy's is a decent place to visit when you're itchin for a burger not of the typical fast food variety. The fries are delish and the toppings are glorious!

Overrated. Sunday around 5pm, one guy ahead of me all ready waiting.... I wait 15 min for a 5 oz burger and fries. I walk out of the store take a bit of a fry, thy are cool. Burger is mediocre at best. Tables were sticky, front door glass finger prints everywhere.

$.10 here...$.25 there...slowly but surely inflation has hit Teddys. Used to be able to get a 5oz meal w/cheese for under $10 but that is no longer the case. Now that Teddys seems to have "blown up" the franchise is edging $$$ and definitely not a family meal spot. Granted the sauce is good and the burgers are cooked to order that does not replace the stock exchange-type atmosphere and the zoo it resembles. Recently I tried a jalapeno burger at La Tour Cafe & I must say it was better than Teddys. Seems to be an all-female crew at this spot so im thinking they are not an equal opportunity employer. Bleh

It took 30 minutes to get my burger which tasted horrible. There were five staff members in the back and they were milling around cleaning everything, despite a restaurant full of people waiting for their food between 7:30 and 8:00. On person was washing and scrubbing down the grill when she made my burger; my burger tasted just like steamed charcoal. Alas, this was just a burger joint run by a bunch of kids with little to no supervision.

now this place was a nice surprise! again, just a bit over local flavor and wanted something a lil different. Basically a good burger and that's what Teddy's serves up. A very tasty burger, cooked to order and whatever you want on it. Only thing I'd recommend is for them to have just reg ketchup. Maybe they have it, seems we got ALL chipotle. No biggie, still good stuff!

Day :Hungry after Koko Head. After seeing several of these joints around the island, we decided to try it out Parking: Located in the strip mall, there is tons of parking. Ambiance & Seating: Fastfood, decent number of tables for a small space Service: The man at the counter was fast, and sort of helpful. At fast food places like this as long as the service is blatantly rude/horrible, i'm okay. What we ordered: Teri Burger: I got the smallest burger which was 5oz. It was on a nice potato starch bun topped with a charbroiled patty, pineapple, lettuce, tomato and teri sauce. There wasn't an overwhelming amount of sauce so besides the pineapple it was only a semi-teri burger in my opinion. I've honestly had a better teri burger at mcdonalds in Japan. Tummy rubs 2/5, filling, satisfying but I don't think i'll order it again #4 Monster Double Burger. This burger was huge, weighing in at 18oz I thought that this thing looked massive. Husband just got avocado on top and squished it down and finished it before I could even make a dent in my 5 oz! He said it was good and give it 2/5 rubs as well. He will probably order the same thing but customize it a lot more We were a little sad at how strange their fries are, they are big but not flavorful. I got the onion rings and they had a nice crunch but okay flavor. What you SHOULD order: We did not get asked how we would like the patty cooked. I would suggest getting your burger medium rare. I have no other recommendations and will update this if we go back!

I must say the burgers here a phenomenal, I can't complain one bit about the burgers fries or shakes. In fact if someone comes to visit or is new on island this is the first place I take them to have food that is consistently good.... The service here loses them a star, sorry, but they often lose my order or are really slow. Great food though can't say that enough.

  • Gavan A.

Ate there yesterday with the family and had such a great experience. By far Teddy's is the best burger place in Hawaii. The charbroiled flavor is unmatched with the awesome toppings. The staff was friendly especially one of the manager's, Charles. The was talking with all the customers to make sure everything was okay.

  • Brian C.

This is a fast food burger joint, but the burgers are flame broiled on a grill and the bread bun is not standard fare, but rather very good on its own. The fries were the same as any other fast food, but the burgers were a hit with my family, and a much-better-than-average, quick-stop, fast-food burger joint.

  • Mike A.

Still love the burgers. But when the soda machine is down, selling cokes for $1 a can doesn't really make up for the inconvenience - it's still a substantial profit for them. Come on, Teddy's. Oh, and if the machine is down maybe post a sign and hide the cups? No more military discount, except on Mon evening. I always made a point of expressing gratitude for it. I dont want to sound entitled, but it is a little irksome.

You want a bite to eat? Head to McDonalds and pay $8 for a thin piece of meat-flavored cardboard and some fry things that is complete 45 seconds from the time you order. You hungry? Like REALLY hungry? Head to Teddy's for some broke-the-mouth deliciousness. Sure, it may take a few minutes but it is WORTH IT. Some of these burgers should not be consumed in public. Lots of variety. Last weekend two kids got corn dogs and fries. One kid got a salmon burger and tater tots. One kid got chicken fingers. I got the awesome Hawaiian burger with Teri and Pineapple -- my wife got the bacon avocado heaven burger (I can't remember the exact name). Yeah, there is usually a line but they keep it moving.

Dear Teddy's, WTH happened?! A year ago I would have rated you 5 stars, but this year the quality and consistency has just gone downhill. We usually do take out. Today the buns were burnt on both sides. The burger was falling off the bun. The pickles and onions were all on one side. My burger was quite rare on the inside, and there was so much sauce on one side that the bun was super soggy: yelp.com/biz_photos/yuk2… yelp.com/biz_photos/yuk2… The same thing happened a few months ago, but the bun on the bottom was worse and soaking from the sauce, dripping out onto the container and cutting board. I didn't take pics of how soaked and thin the bun had become (I had to turn it over in order to eat it): yelp.com/biz_photos/yuk2… yelp.com/biz_photos/yuk2… yelp.com/biz_photos/yuk2… And of course, the order taker looked like she had a hard night, and didn't want to be there --- got our order wrong too! I thought it was a fluke (the food), but it keeps happening! I'm not going to even mention that sometimes the fries taste fishy, probably from frying the fish (for the fish and chips, which BTW are greasy). I think our love affaire is over. Please get your act together. Yelp 365 Challege: #36/365

Today we stopped by for a burger after going to the beach. We had hoped for some towelettes to clean our hands but could not find any and before I could ask, one of the workers came by our table and gave us several. There was a glitch with our order. This happens at all types of restaurants. I identified the problem and they took the food back. I was curious how they would handle it and I hoped that they would impress me and I would not have to shift into pushy fuckin haole. They impressed me. They brought a fresh, new version of our order to our table and apologized. Afterwards they ended with a $5 gift card. Smart business people, you always want the people to return. I am impressed with the service and satisfied with the food. Can't say this about a lot of the food places on this island.

I went here during my one-year wedding anniversary trip to Hawaii. Hamburger was juicy and delicious. It was one of the best hamburgers I've ever eaten. Fries and tots were great as well. The only negatives were lack of seating (typical for most places I went too in Hawaii) and they happened to be out of ice when I was there. Also, there are no public restrooms. So if you need to take a dump, you "have to go to Macy's." I hope this growing chain expands to California soon!

Third time here, great food, but guy behind counter is very rude. Teddy's just can't have good food to have my business, they need to have polite service too. Not going back again.

Great burgers, seasoned fries, and great old rock music when we went in.

Went today for lunch and got a "big" burger with avocado and cheddar. My boyfriend got a "bigger" burger with bleu cheese and bacon. The burgers were fine, fries were terrible and mushy, and they were out of ice so our drinks were warm. Also, for 2 burgers, 1 thing of fries, and one drink, our total was basically $25. That's a little steep for "meh" food.

It never fails when I am fiending for a (veggie) burger, I head to Teddys. Teddys never fails me and feeds the beast that I am! The veggie burger with cheese and mushrooms is SUPER delish and a nice treat for a vegetarian like me. PLUS their fries are REALLY good-just the right amount of grease and crisp to make it perfect, leaving me licking my fingers and digging to the bottom of the brown paper bag in the hope that some fell out of the french fry pouch and landed in the bag for me to enjoy! And they have root beer. While I rarely drink soda, I do, for whatever reason, indulge in a root beer with my fries and burger.

Worth $18 for this meal? No, but the food was good and the staff was friendly. Get the garlic fries, they're definitely the best option.

It was alrgiht, good food but not really a hawaiian experience. NO BATHROOM, they'll say nearest bathroom is the Macys, but it's really the starbucks. Cheese fries were great, garlic fries were really whatever. Burgers were alright.

Hey Erin, I agree love the burgers and really everything, but what would make it even more awesome is if your help had more get up and get it out to the customer. Yeah, that would just put this place on top!

Awesome burgers, but MAYBE the guy handing out drink cups could refrain from handing them to you with his fingers inside them, you know, where the food you'll be eating goes?

If Teddy's ever wanted to change their name, I would have to say that "Amaze-burgers" (Update: I was convinced by my lemon-yuzu-buddy that balls is a bad idea in the food world...or is it? No mattah to me!) would be a great consideration because with a name like that, they'd definitely be selling something I'm looking for. I'm not a picky guy. I'm just...how do you say...particular. And if anyone on this planet, this side of the Pacific Ocean, wants to buy me a burger, it's gotta be from here. NO QUESTIONS ASKED (Make sure it has bacon, cheddar and extra $auce kthxbai!!!) But then you ask me, "Why Thomas O., must this burger be purchased from Teddy's Amaze-burgers? Can't I just go to McDonald's?" NO YOU MAY NOT. NO. YOU. MAY. NOT. If you dare ask this question, it means that you are incapable for comprehending the pure perfection clenched between the top and bottom of a potato bun. A medium, cooked to order, burger with cheddar cheese, crisp bacon, with a shot of $ecret $auce, fresh tomatoes, sliced onion, and squeaky pickles, are what attract me the most to these masterpieces. Tastier than Kuaaina, beefier than Shake Shack, complexier than In-n-out, just a down right perfect storm of burger burger burger. So whatever you do in Kailua, end your day right by having a Teddy's Amaze-burger. And don't forget to invite me. I promise I'll be nice (because I wont be talking while I stuff my face with amazingness). Review #014/365 - Week 2 down! 50 more to go.

Teddy's is pretty OK. Only been to this location three times. The first couple of times went OK as in my food came out fast and tasted like a generic burger is supposed to taste like. The third time I waited close to 30 minutes for one burger and fries. They didn't even have a long line. I wish their patties had more seasoning to them as they taste pretty bland. They feel a little tough too which leads me to believe they may have been previously frozen. We can whip up tastier burgers at my house on our grill, so with that said, I won't be coming back anytime soon.

My family stopped by here for lunch as a nearby restaurant Boot's and Kimo's had an hour wait :( This was a good alternative stop as I have heard this was the local's burger joint. Service was good, though it did take them a little longer than expected to have the shake ready. There's also a limited number of seats inside and outside the joint. If you show a military ID you get a 10% discount off the total bill. My sister and I got the kailua burger - beef patty with teri(yaki) sauce, swiss cheese and grilled onions, plus tomatoes and lettuce. You can choose how you want your meat cooked. Medium rare burger was soft and pink. Teriyaki sauce was an added sweet touch. The teriyaki sauce and the meat juices did make the bun fall apart, so I would have liked my bun to be a bit more firm. Garlic fries were crunchy and had a good amount of garlic seasoning added. Strawberry shake had real ice cream, which made it rich and creamy and a little hard to suck through a straw at first. Overall I was satisfied with my burger.

Awful service! Period! I stopped by this location after visiting Whole Foods the other day to get a chocolate shake. The cashier was nice enough and told me they'd call out my order when it was ready. She then told another worker to make the shake, so he did. The shake was done very quickly, but instead of calling it out, the employee decided to just throw it on the side and man an open register. I had to wait 15 minutes to talk to an employee, which happened to be the same guy who made my shake. When I asked about it, the employee said "oh, your's is the one that was the shake only?" Um, DUH!! Isn't that what the order ticket said?! I can understand that you're busy, but if you can call out other orders when they are ready, why can't you call out the order you made for me immediately after you made it? I was standing RIGHT IN FRONT OF YOU!! Was this employee brain dead?? Either way, he didn't apologize as he handed me my half melted shake... I will never return to this location again, and I suggest you don't either! I love Teddy's, but incompetent employees is just unacceptable!

Stop 2 in our quest to find the best burger. Sorry Teddy, but your burger was a bust. Honolulu Burger Co. kicks your ass. To top off you fries were stale, your tots were overcooked, and the chocolate peanut butter shake was the worst I've ever had. Not sure how you mess up a chocolate peanut butter shake, but you did. Thank goodness we were able to use our Isle Discount Card, I would have been pissed if I'd paid full price for that. Next stop Kuaaina, 'cause we'll definitely not be coming back here.

Two words: garlic fries. *drool Pretty good. I'm from San Diego, and my boyfriend and i visited Oahu last week. His sister-in-law mentioned the places to eat at while we were staying in Kailua, one of them being Teddy's Bigger Burgers. Let me tell you! We did not regret it. We were starved after our Pillbox Hike, so because of that alone i decided to subtract a star on account of my thoughts being somewhat biased and unfair lol. I'm sure anyone would enjoy any meal starved. But the food was actually good! Took a little while to get, but the signs on the wall warn you that they cook to order. I appreciate that, i guess. I subtracted another star for being EXPENSIVE. I know, i know, i'm not from Hawaii, and all the food seems expensive, i get that, but damnnn. $40 for 2 meals (burger, fries, drink) and an extra burger?! Seriously? In that case i'll eat there once, enjoy the experience and the garlic fries, come back home to San Diego, and grab In-N-Out or something just as satisfying, just as fulfilling in quality, but less expensive. the girl working on reg also seemed like she hated her life haha. She was kind, but it was forced, and she rarely smiled. Reminded me of Kirsten Stewart from Twilight lol. Other than that, i had an awesome time in Oahu! =D

Wow. I sat down to write this review and thought about my burger and seriously salivated. So a few of us hiked the pill boxes (do it!!) and then went to the beach for a swim. By the time we were ready to eat, we were READY to eat! Although my burger kinda fell apart, I sure did plow through it. Meat, bacon, avocado... man, that thing was good. I got the garlic fries as recommended by many people of the yelp, but I thought they were just okay. My friend got the fries with the works. They were good, too, but at that point, it was just too much food. The people were friendly and the music was great. If I'm ever on that side of the island again, I know I'd put in a vote for Teddy's. NO chance of leaving hungry!

Unfortunately Teddy's has been in decline for some time. I had the worst service at the Kailua Location last week and will not be going back to any Teddy's EVER again. I tried contacting their corporate office both by phone and email and have been completely ignored. The past few times I have been to a Teddy's they seem to have a real problem getting the order right. One trip it took 3 tries. Sheesh, it's just a hamburger! The last time, which was the last straw, even the manager couldn't get the order right. I ordered two combos and the manager tried to charge me for extra fries... two burger combos came out to $30! ummm! I think there is a problem... the combo is $8 each... X2 makes the bill around $16 + tax... how can it be a $30 bill? "oh, um... I'm sorry, we must have charged you extra for each order of fries!" REALLY? After waiting forever, continuously going over the order several times, I pulled out my card to pay and they informed me that the machine was broken... "CASH ONLY" they said.... hmmm, ok, place the order and I'll run to the ATM. no more than three minutes later I was back with CASH... easy right? NO WAY! The manager didn't place the order, instead she wants to go through the whole order fiasco all over again. REALLY! As I debated about attempting to place yet ANOTHER same order, I noticed that one of the people cooking the food was smoking an ECIG and blowing vapor all over the kitchen area... That's when I said "OH HELL NO!" I finally gave up trying to eat a hamburger at Teddy's for the rest of my life. Its too bad because they have great burgers, however, I don't feel right standing there for an hour begging the management to try and get my order correct just so I can pay them for the trouble. Frankly the people running the Kailua location are incompetent, rude and would be better suited working for Goodwill Industries. The management of Teddy's has continued to add locations, cashing in on the almighty dollar while neglecting to teach their workers simple customer service. Teddy's service SUCKs worse than any restaurant I've even been in. It was so bad it was almost comical! As a result, I decided to mosey around the corner to Cactus where a had a great gourmet lunch for LESS than 2 Teddy's creatively priced combos... That's right... Two meals at Cactus was less than two teddy's burgers! Good bye teddy, who ever you are... it was fun while it lasted but you forgot who made you popular. I will scream from the mountain top...to anyone who will listen! "DON"T EAT AT TEDDY"S"

Background Story: Came here after hiking Olomana. I just got my new iDcard in the mail yesterday and I figured, "Let's put this sucker to use." I recommend you getting one btw, get 10% off purchases at Teddy's. If you eat/go out enough at the places that accept this offer, you probably save more than you spent on the card. Service: There was no line despite what others say. However, I have indeed experienced waiting in the line at this location and it's not exactly a fast run. Probably a 10 minute wait or so just to take your order. Fortunately, we were helped as soon as we decided what to get. I got a "Big Burger" with bacon and extra crispy fries (no drink). My total came out to maybe a little less than $7 after the discount + tax. Service was on par. The wait was actually no more than 5-6 minutes. Seating: There were no seats at all. Food: Nothing better than a fatty char-broiled burger brah. Faka went broke da mout. Only problem? The patty was so much smaller than the buns, my final 3 bites was actually a salad between two buns. So, I took one bite and tossed the rest (first world problems, sorry). The extra crispy fries are not extra crispy. I could make better fries but hey, the burger was good enough to make up for it. Note: This is probably the only Teddy's I go to repeatedly even though I live in Kapahulu. That should count for something, right?

Great atmosphere and great counter service. Love the caricature art on the wall. Burgers are fresh and delicious with regular fries and a drink for a combo meal. Or you can upgrade your fries to Cajun fries (spicy) or garlic fries for a fee. I had the 5 oz. original burger combo, cooked medium, with all the original fixins plus bacon and onion rings! Ono! So thick, I couldn't eat it all, only half of it! Took the rest home to share with Grandma! And the soft drinks are refillable if you dine in! Sweet! Bussed my own table before we sat down, but no worries because there was a towel and spray right there to use and got my area sparkling clean in a minute; I'm picky that way!

Consistently one of the top burger joints on da island. My son and I stop at the Kailua location about once a month after paddling or soccer and put the feed bags on. If you go during the prime lunch or dinner hours you may have a longer wait time but everything is made to order so a bit of a wait should be expected at anytime. The Kailua location is a bit tight so limited seating both inside and out. We always leave full and smiling.

Taste? Milshakes are amazing. Burgers are average.. not worth it. Customer service? Oh goodness, horrible. The workers are lazy and non-comprehensive. We waited 15 minutes for our order while people just coming in were getting theirs no problem. When we finally did get our order, they questioned us and gave a hassle to us. They were just overall rude. They hire what appear to be incompetent teenagers that do nothing in the back. WON'T BE COMING BACK, sorrynotsorry

Old school style burger joint. My plain burger was so crusted with spices I couldn't really get any meat flavor. Basically after 3 or 4 bites I had the spices and salt grit all stuck on my palette. I washed it all down with a drink and tossed the remainder of the burger.

Burgers are better on the Island... I pretty much tried about 5 different burgers here and NONE.. I mean NONE has ever disappointed me. I just love this place and wish it was on the mainland.... but hey! we still got Island's.. :) Island's have the best burgers as well.. just not with the atmosphere..:D Anyways, I really enjoy Teddy's and everytime I go back to Honolulu.. I will def. keep coming back here.

Took about 10 minutes to get my order and it was very tasty and worth the wait!!! They have a kids combo menu choices They have salads Also non burger items like chicken burgers, turkey burgers, Veggie burgers, fish sandwiches, and fish and chips.. But I ask you why come here if you donot order there cook to order burgers??? Free ample parking either in the lot in front or lot next to business... Seats inside and outside... If you have a craving for a great burger.. this is definitely the place to get it. They use premium beef, which makes a huge difference for flavor and the special sauce is awesome. I recommend getting your fries with "the works" at least once to try it.. so good. My husband also lovess their milkshakes!!! Sometimes can be a little inconsistent, but I've rarely ever been dissatisfied with the food! Oh and its also BYOB with no corkage fee.. even better!

The "bigger" basic combo is pretty tasty and love it with the hot sauce in it! Price is decent around $10. The wait is a little long but it beats any fast food joint by far!

I only eat 1 meat burger every few months... and this is my choice on island! Lots of flavors, fresh fries... shakes. Burger was good, bun was excellent, vegies fresh, fries were not greasy. Got mine topped with guacamole, it was great.

  • Amber T.

There's nothing like having a good old Teddy's burger after going to Kailua Beach Park. The burgers really hit the spot right after the beach. But the burgers come with their special sauce and it does get a little messy eating. But it's worth it :) Note: With an ID card you can get a discount of 15% off on Monday-Friday, and 10% off on weekends.

Concur with all highly rated reviews, four stars are based on the burgers alone, not dining area or experience. great burgers which are a MUST for out of towners. Only difference might be the garlic fries, not at all good or what you might be thinking, they were simply covered with garlic powder and grated DRY cheese. couldn't finish them. The burger was the best I've had in a while. Cooked to order so plan for that. Oh yeah the Kalia location has no rest room. you must walk to the Macy's and go the second floor. Kinda a pain in the butt.

I like teddy's bigger burgers. The burgers are HUGE, even the smallest portions and their fries are super crispy and tasty. I really love their pickles too! lol If you are craving a good burger, this is certainly the place to go. I always end up getting the original combo. The classics are the best. This place has a 50s burger joint type of feel to it, which I really enjoy. The wait for your food can be a bit long if they are busy, but other than that no complaints for the most part. Service is normally always pretty good. Their milkshakes are tasty also. The prices are a bit on the high side for a burger joint, but the good quality of the food is worth it in my book. When it is busy, you might have a hard time finding a place to sit but overall the food is super yummy.

  • Diana D.

The burgers are amazing! But the employees are poo! It is obvious they hate their job! Although I loved the food I would much rather go to another Teddy's than encounter these employes again! They are beyond rude! In ordered the original combo burger and the lady only dot down the burger itself. When she repeated the order to me I kindly corrected her and told her that id like the combo to it. Instead of changing it she insisted that I just ordered the burger by its self and dramatically scrapped the paper and rewrote ONE order.. As if it was that difficult. I didn't expect attitude specially since I gave her none myself! No need to make a big deal bitch!

  • Johnny Z.

Decided to try Teddy's after reading reviews. My first impression after ordering was holy crap!, $28 for two 7oz. burger combos. A little high for my liking, but after getting my burger, I'm pretty content. It was tasty. I got the Hangover (bacon, cheddar, spud, and a ton of pastrami). Any burger that strains the jaw and requires a wet wipe afterwards is a-OK in my book. My girlfriend had the Volcano, and that had tons of jalapeños (probably twice as many as other burger places). Onion rings were standard, fries were better. After my last burger experience in Oahu, I am glad to have found a burger that delivers.

MAINLAND FOLKS! go to Either the Kapahulu location or this one if you're craving a burger. Better than In-n-Out..and I thought I'd never see the day. Just yesterday I had the original 5 oz. Teddy Burger and the meet...SUPERB! Definitely my favorite place for some diner-like burgers and the PEANUT BUTTER CHOCOLATE SHAKE...melts in your mouth!

So I've had a craving to eat a really good burger for quite some time now so decided to to a pick-up order at Teddy's Kailua. Seems here your mileage may vary, just depends on how busy they are - and they do get really busy. I've had some really good burgers here but this day was not one of them. I ordered mine "Kailua Style" - the Teri sauce had no flavor (I wonder now if they forgot to put it on since it didn't have any Teri taste), most of my mushrooms and onions were in the container rather than on my burger and my buns were so soggy that I almost had to eat it with a fork. I think you really have to eat this one right on the spot there but good luck getting a table on a busy day. The garlic fries I couldn't wait to try since I heard so many people raving about them. But these do not have any actual garlic on them - just garlic salt and garlic powder maybe, but these will definitely raise your sodium intake! They were so salty I couldn't actually taste the fries. So if you go to this location go on a slow day and plan to eat here and compete for tables as it has become a tourist attraction much like Boots and Kimo in Kailua. P.S. - If you are into haupia you gotta try the haupia shake the next time the have it - this was outstanding!

The food was great! Get the 'Hawaiian style' burger for sure! However, it was incredibly tacky and classless when they came to me after I had been waiting over ten minutes, to charge me for the 'Hawaiian style' they had forgot to charge at first. Very unprofessional, and kind of put a damper on the whole thing because I was so ticked about the whole transaction. They made me feel like it was my fault. Come on guys, if you forget and it's been that long, just eat the cost.

Dined here last night and all I can say is that it's the best burger I've ever had!!!!!!!!!!!!! I had the Kailua Burger with garlic tater tots, and a root beer shake! Yes, I paid a pretty penny for it but it was sooo worth it. A bit messy but the girl servicing the dining room made sure I had enough moist towelettes! Do they only hire girls here? Hahhahaha! Seemed like only girls who work here, they were very friendly and seemed to being enjoying what they were doing. Food was fast, hot and delicious! Excellent customer service!!!!

So disappointed in their service. I was standing in line, and a clerk took the order of the couple in front of me. She then skipped over me without so much as a glance, and proceeded to take the order of the next person in line. When I asked why I had been ignored, she said they only took the orders of the last person in line, and I was no longer the last person. Needless to say, I walked out. How rude!

I LOVE their burgers!!! Their secret sauces make it the best burger I have had in a long time. Their spicy fires are fantastic as well!!! I'm am very sad there is not one in my home town. The wait sometimes can be a little long but SO worth it!!!!

  • Nancy O.

Heard good things about Teddy's and we have to agree. Two of us had fish sandwich and fries or garlic fries. The fried fish was two pieces battered and fried and nicely done. The garlic fries were regular fries with minced garlic scattered, good if you really like garlic. I had the Hawaiian chicken sandwich with pineapple. Next time I would skip the pineapple which added only 70 cents to the cost but did not add much to my enjoyment. The chicken was cooked perfectly, grilled. The kids menu chicken nuggets were very disappointing. Otherwise the food was tasty and a good value. The decor is early American fast food but the food was mostly delicious.

My first thought was: "it's like 5 guys burgers!" My 2nd thought was: "they have garlic fries" My 3rd thought was: "I'm really hungry" It was really busy there so we looked around and then thought we would check out some other eatery joints....but then ended up coming back to Teddy's. Loved my meal! I got a teri burger with spicy fries (although, yes, I know I was so excited about garlic fries). The burger was very juicy and cooked perfectly! There was just enough teri sauce and the "special sauce" was excellent. It was a little messy but well worth it...Enjoyed my fries IMMENSELY! Well worth the wait!!! #Yelp 365 Challenge - 015/365

Teddy's is always the go to spot after a long day at any of the nearby beaches. It's also a great place to hit up any time of the week. Though this particular one is usually busy, you will rarely wait long to get your food. The service is fast and the burgers are excellent. Being from California I frequented In N Out to get a good burger fast, but Teddy's is definitely the joint to be at here on Oahu. They have a good selection of combos available as well as many sides and milkshakes to accompany your burger. Next time you're in Kailua and craving a juicy burger with some fresh fries, be sure to check out Teddy's.

I honestly think Teddys has the best tasting burgers in Hawaii. My review for today's lunch got 4 instead of 5 stars mainly because I was shocked at how much I paid, almost $18! Will definitely rethink my order strategy next time. I got a 9 oz specialty burger (Kailua) which tacked on an additional $3.50 to the standard 9 oz price, got the combo with spicey fries, which cost an added $0.50, then they automatically give you the large size drink, which is the most expensive. The burger and fries where outrageously good, meat was done medium, flavor excellent, just wow! Don't remember ever paying that much for a burger combo anywhere! Also the wait at this location can be somewhat long, but that would not stop me from coming again, maybe just not do any more 9 oz specialy combos, I was so full I never ate dinner tonight, even after coming back from a 2 hr karate class!

While sitting at Kailua beach we yelped away looking for something to fulfill our growing appetite. Teddy's caught our eye with the 4 stars and the wonderful reviews about it being the best burger some have eaten. Clearly, they haven't been to In-N-Out. We were worried about lines since it was around 1pm, but the line was manageable and we found a table outside. We shared the Bigger combo adding pepperjack cheese and upgrading the fries to garlic fries. The fries were not what we were expected. We were thinking something along the lines of their regular fries covered with chunks of real garlic, but instead we got the fries covered with a garlic salt seasoning. Don't get me wrong, although they were different than our expectations they were still very delicious. Nicely cooked and great flavor. The burger was scrumptious! It had the cheese we added, a nice thick tomato, romaine lettuce, thinly cut onions, with some "special sauce" (as a fellow yelper said, i think it is mayo and bbq sauce). It all tasted quite delicious and you can tell it was fresh, making the wait well worth it. I almost forgot to talk about the bun. It was the perfect complement to the burger. I suspect a potato bun, soft and tasty. Overall we had a great experience. The only thing keeping us from giving it 5 stars is that if we were standing in between Teddy's and In-N-Out, we would without hesitation stroll into In-N-Out for a double-double, fries, and an ice cold diet coke.

This place is trying to compete with In N' Out but I am a TRUE In N' Out fan!! This place still does make tasty burgers with a LOT of options that you have a little bit of a hard time making a decision. You have to choose: Your SIZE burger- Big 5oz, Bigger 7 oz or Biggest 9oz. Your fries- plain, garlic, toppings Your drink- soda or a shake Your TOPPINGS on your burger My sis and I shared the ORIGINAL biggest burger. I judge a burger place on the classic burger, not how creative the toppings as this detracts from the real taste of the burger meat, in my opinion. We had it with garlic fries, well cooked with seasoning on top and a chocolate shake. The chocolate shake was FANTASTIC!!! It had lovely chunks of chocolate in the ice cream that you could eat with a spoon. Yum yum! The burger itself was tasty and I enjoyed it but I wouldnt put it over In N' Out. The biggest burger patty was big, the bun not so much. The bread matters, and as such In N' Out wins as they toast theirs. I would return, especially for the shake. The burger was good but not the BEST...

ONO! Full of charboil flavors, thick and juicy. I had garlic & parmesan fries. They were the best I've had. They had other choices for toppings too. Very informal~inside/out seating.

I've been to other locations and this one by far has the slooooowest service by a long shot. We ordered three burgers and waited for almost 40 minutes before one of my party went to ask about our food. He was told that it would be right out. Five minutes later we received our food. My fries and burger were lukewarm at best, but thankfully the other two were ok. The only reason why I am not giving this just one star was because when we told them that they were out of pink lemonade, they immediately filled it again. I definitely will not go to this location again.

I'm in Kailua once or twice a year visiting the MIL We always make a point to stop by Teddy's at least once a trip. We usually order the smallest burger (the big), fries and a soda. Haven't tried the shakes or specialty fries yet. They have an extensive range of toppings for the burgers and specialty burgers as well. The 5oz Big Burger is usually plenty for us. Nice fresh Niman Ranch beef, cooked to order (mine med-rare) with all the fixin's. nice and juicy, just how I like it. The fries are thick and crispy. Overall, prefer Teddy's to the mainland's In-and-Out or 5 Guys, even though more expensive. If you're in Hawaii, hit them up.

This is by far my favorite burger place. Ever. Better than in-n-out. Nuff said. & with a Jamba on the side. Orgasmic.

Our family had an early lunch here because Boots N Kimo's was 2 hours wait time. The burgers were big and juicy. Fresh and made to order. Pleasantly surprised. We will definitely eat here again when we're in the area. My only gripe is the place is small. The way the tables are set up and the design of the space they have is not efficient. The place is also in dire need of a good dusting. Next time you eat there, look UP. The thought of how much dust is floating around in there and possibly falling on you and your food is a little gross.

Absolutely amazing burgers. The serving size is massive, even for a regular sized burger. If you get avocados on the burger they are freshly cut, not some pre-packaged paste. The service is great as well. This is a very busy place so be prepared for a wait, but it's worth it. There is limiting searing available.

I had the Western Burger - Yummy! So juicy and fresh. The fries and onion rings are good too. It is a bit expensive though. Seating is limited, but the wait isn't too long.

Good burgers. Good milkshakes, the peanut butter - chocolate shake is great, but super thick. They are a little slow and in my opinion over priced. They do offer a 10% military discount.

We loved the teri burgers with pineapple, very juicy and oh so tasty! I felt it was right up there or beat some of the 'gormet' burgers I've had in the past. The line can get long at lunch time but the staff helps move things along fairly quickly.

Placed a phone in order and then said it would take 10 minutes. We waited 10 minutes, went down to pick it up. I told the cashier my name and that I was there to pick up an order, she rang me up, and didn't say anything to me and handed me my receipt and number. I went to sit down, waited several minutes, then asked about my order. The cashier checked for my order and came back in a few minutes saying they would have to place the order again - since my food wasn't anywhere to be found. I waited an additional 10 minutes for them to give me my order. Not once did I get an apology for my long wait, or the mix up. Terrible customer service and attitude at this place and most of my lunch hour was wasted waiting for a average burger and onion rings.

Thanks to the unbelievably rude cashier we encountered one Sunday afternoon, we will probably never return to Teddy's Bigger Burgers in Kailua. At first I thought, okay maybe she's not having a good day or that she needs more fiber in her diet (by the look on her face), but soon we realized that the rolling of her eyes and bad attitude were just part of her charm. This was essentially my first time at Teddy's Bigger Burgers, so forgive me for not knowing the menu or how to order in an instant. Instead of guiding us through the choices or explaining what was what, she mumbled a few words followed by sighs, shrugs, and acted like she just didn't care! Ugh!!! I tried my best to rate the food objectively despite the service, but in the end, the food was o-k. The burgers were a little bland for my liking, onion rings too oily, and the buns were way too soggy! And the prices? Pretty expensive for a mediocre burger joint. I admit the quality is better than your average fast-food burger but that's not saying much LOL. Sorry, my first time and last.

I'm a vegetarian and thought I'd have a hard time finding something to eat BUT to my surprise they had a few really good options. I created my own so I had a Knack attack sub'd the burger out for veggie burger and took out the bacon and added teri sauce. Also had this w/garlic fries that was to die for!!!!! I will be back when I'm back in town :)

While in Kailua, I was hoping to hit up either Cinnamon's or Boots & Kimo's, but both were closed by 2:00 and we were having way too much fun at Lanikai.. so we ended up at Teddy's-- another recommendation from my cousin that did not disappoint. I was not adventurous enough to try any of the specialty burgers, so I ordered the original burger with a side of onion rings. It was big, juicy, and messy-- definitely hit the spot after a day of swimming. My stepdaughter ordered the kid's burger, and she said it was the best burger in the world! Minus one star because there were no restrooms. We had to go to Starbucks a couple doors down to wash our hands. Overall, a pretty good place.

Vegetarians missing great "burgers" fries and onion rings? This is your new fav! We had the Kailua Style and Blue cheese with veggie burgers and garlic fries, AMAZING! Add onion rings and a peanut butter chocolate extra thick shake and you're solid! Well done!

Good burgers! The Screamsicle shake was VERY good, but the chocolate shake was pretty normal. My wife and I both tried the Volcano burger combo. Pretty tasty. The 5 oz was definitely enough food for us. Very limited seating, no restrooms. Fairly expensive, but they do offer a military discount. I'd go back if I were in the area!

Bigger? Yes. Better? NO. The most overpriced burger I've ever had. I don't mind paying the $15 price tag for gourmet burgers, but this is NOT the place to drop that kind of money. Our cashier was rude, and service was INCREDIBLY slow. This fast-food style joint took TWENTY minutes to bring out our food, which was incredibly soggy and fell apart the moment we picked it up. Two burgers, 1 drink, and 1 fries came out to $30.

I don't get the hype about this place. Went on a Thursday night about 7.30, it was jam packed. Took 25 mins to get our food. I had a cheese burger with garlic butter fries. The food was just ok, not worth the 25 dollars it took for my and my hubby to eat.
