I tried the cornbeef hash and eggs. Nothing special about it. It was alright, something you could make at home. I suggest adding sriracha to their condiments. I'll give this place another try next time i'm in Waikiki and feel like eating breakfast.

So every time I come to Waikiki I use to run by the original one every morning. And every morning theres a line. I had heard from some that I most try this place. Well the last time I was in the island I saw that they had opened one on the main strip of Waikiki. So I decided it was about time to see what all the hype was about. Yes there was a line but I was determined. We waiting and ordered. Not knowing that there was another line to be seated me and my friend just walked into the dining room after ordering to sit down at a table that just opened (there's a sign saying self seating ) quickly after sitting down we got scorned by the bussed saying that we can't just sit anywhere and must stand in line. He was very rude. And the place is very unorganized. No signs or anything. How is anyone suppose to know Any how, we get our food and go sit at the beach and eat. Seriously...the food was OK. Nothing great and just normal breakfast food. The only reason its getting any stars is because of the "home fries" those were great! It had the crispy burnt parts that's I love and has an interesting seasoning to it. But to stand in line and deal with the confusion of the place I'll pass. I'd rather go get some spam down the street at isayume (I think that's how u spell it) Don't let the lines and crowd fool u guys. Pass this place and dont give it a second thought....ure not missing anything

For a while, people have been talking about this place so being my birthday and Mothers Day.. My husband took me here, per my request. When we got there, the line was pretty long. I'd say we waited about 30 minutes. I figured that was a good thing. My husband and I, eating with our eyes, ordered the Hawaiian Loco Moco, Macadamia Nut Pancakes, and Eggs Benedict. I'd have to say the Loco Moco was pretty good, but the patty was pretty small as well as the egg. We got the regular Eggs Benedict. There was also Crab Cake Benedict. The Hollandaise sauce was... Gross. They poured it all over that I had to ask for a separate plate just to put the extra sauce on the side. I got potatoes with it, and only ate a few as they were drenched in the sauce. The egg, unfortunately, was very small. I was confused? I couldn't stand the sauce and the amount of sauce that I only ate one. (They came with two) The Macadamia Nuts Pancakes were... Hard. We had to use a knife to cut it. They told us it was fluffy and very tasteful, which they weren't. The Macadamia nuts were good. The Guava syrup didn't have that much taste. Honestly, we didn't try the coconut syrup. We kind of were over it by then. I gave it two stars as the servers were nice and the Loco Moco was good. Pretty disappointed and won't be going back.

Great place to eat and has a great view of the beach. If you dont go there b4 7am than just know you will wait about an hour.

really meh. unless you come super early, you will wait in a line comprised of mostly japanese tourists. the food is pricey for what it is. like 99% of the other places in oahu, they bring out food on paper plates. i guess hawaii doesn't care about the presentation aspect. the food itself wasn't great. i liked the coconut syrup but that was probably store bought anyway.

  • Adriana C.

Gross, not worth the wait. Ordered the daily special: Omelet couldn't eat it, didn't look appetizing at all. Too pricey for eating breakfast on a paper plate with plastic utencils. Had to sneak my coffee in because there was a sign that said no outside food or drink allowed, I get it but I had just purchased my coffee on the walk to the restaurant. One thing that bothered me was how sticky the table was when I sat down, I had to ask them to wipe it down; didn't make a difference it was still sticky couldn't wait to get out before I got sick.

When I got there this morning, we were greeted by the host. He was an older gentleman who was very kind and explained how everything worked. We stood in line for 7 minutes and didn't move. We were so hungry, we decided to leave. As we were walking out, the same host asked us where we were going. We told him the line was too long and we'd come back another day. He yelled at us, "There's no line. What line?!" So I pointed to the line for him, which could be seen all the way from the street. Then he completely turned on us! He got really angry and said, "Fine! WHATEVER!!" He did a very good job greeting us at first, because in the end we realized it was FAKE. All he wanted was our money. I will never come back to this establishment because of him. I live in the area and would of given them much business if they were good, but the attitude of the host was such a turn off, I'll never recommend this place to anyone ever! Imagine how he treats our tourist?! What a bad impression to make on our visitors.

Couldn't even get in.. the lines everyday were too long. I heard so many great things about this place but they open at 6:00am and we were there at exactly that time and the lines were way out the door.

I expected a lot more from this place. First off, I thought this was the regular Eggs 'n Things restaurant that my friend recommended, but it turns out that the place she was referring to is now a Cheeseburger location. Boo. So I came in expecting good breakfast foods and a yummy loco moco. For $22, what I ate was a not-so-generous portion of Portuguese sausage with eggs and two pancakes. Food was decent but not wow-worthy. The loco moco was decent, but also small portioned for the $13 I paid for. The place really is "eggspress" as our meal came in to-go containers (a paper plate for the sausage and eggs and plastic container for the loco moco). Even utensils were plastic as well (at least they were biodegradable). You order first and then wait in a line to be seated at a table, unless you want to take your eggspress food to go. I didn't see parking, so you may want to keep your car at the hotel and walk or try to fight for a parking spot at the beach or at the park. Next time, I will be careful and seek out the regular Eggs 'n Things. Lesson learned.

This was my last meal on my first visit to Hawaii. For the quick and dirty review, the food's decent, eggs aren't great, and the macadamia nut pancakes are great...just not worth a 60-90 minute wait. Now, onto the full review: I'm a pretty big fan of breakfast food, and my friend had been telling me about the macadamia nut pancakes here. I'd never tried macadamia nut pancakes, so I wanted to make sure I'd gotten to try these before I left. If it were not for that purpose, I can't really see coming here and dealing with the wait. It's just not worth it, especially in the sun. The pancakes were pretty amazing, and they were only made better by the offerings of coconut and pineapple syrups. I would definitely like trying them again, I'm just not waiting any more than 10 minutes to do so. I also ordered 2 eggs over medium, and some portugese sausage. Many yelp reviewers are noticing that they seem to have problems with the eggs, and I have to add my voice to that chorus. I got my 2 over medium eggs with runny whites. It wouldn't normally be a huge thing, but, the restaurant's name does have "eggs" in it. You gotta know how to cook eggs. The coffee, on the other hand, bleh. Really disappointing. I'd have to say it was the 2nd worst cup of coffee I had on my vacation, and the only one worse was the one I got on my flight home. Ambiance isn't great, however, this is the "express" location, and it's clearly posted on all the signage. Given that you're in line for quite some time, you've got more than ample time to notice this distinction. It's kind of disheartening to see that some of the reviewers for this place apparently know how to write, but not how to read. So, yeah, you're going to pay before you get your food. It's not a huge deal. Food highlights included: Macadamia nut pancakes, coconut & pineapple syrups, portugese sausage, the "Hawaiian" loco moco, and the crab cake eggs benedict. Food lowlights included: Over medium eggs, coffee. Demerits for an incredibly long wait, bad coffee, and lackluster eggs. 3/5 would eat here again, but I wouldn't wait to eat here again.

Yeaaaaaaaaaaaa...... not so good..... Everything is served on plastic plates with plastic utensil which was a little bit weird i felt paying this price i should be using at least some good equipment which ruin the whole atmosphere. There weren't really a service in this place compare to the original eggs n things i guess that is why they call it eggspress ~ but at least lower the price if you are not doing service or real utensil ! The food was okay i guess with the affected of having plastic utensil so it wasn't as good as the other one..... also the food is not decorated the same style as the original one seems as if they are rushing it out and the outcome is messed up dish... So a word of recommendation: avoid this place and go to the original one even if you have to wait a little bit more but it is worth it ! Discount: Show your state id, UHM student ID or Isle card to get 10 % off : ) Again go to the original eggs n things !!!

I was told that I HAD to go here while I was in Honolulu. I wasn't disappointed!! Their Portugese sausage was amazing, my eggs were cooked perfectly, and the macadamia nut pancakes were delish. They also have a coconut syrup that was pretty tasty. I definitely recommend visiting this place if you're in town!

We passed by the location multiple times there was always a line. We decided to give a chance at our last day and realized that there is always a line because you order at the door before you enter and you also pay at the door. Food was little pricey but delicious. I enjoyed trying three different syrup, maple, coconut and some fruit. Coffee tasted okay. Might worth trying.

This place is located in the heart of Waikiki right on the strip (Kalakaua) so its ultra convenient. There's ALWAYS a line. I don't think I've ever gone and there wasn't a line. The employees there are always friendly and helpful no matter what. This last visit here was iffy for me. I went twice in 1 week actually because the food is pretty good, the only downfall is the price. It isn't cheap. But what IS cheap in Hawaii?I had ordered regular french toast, well I simply said I wanted french toast, but instead I was given the special FT instead which came with chocolate, whipped cream, and strawberries. This may be good to eaters who enjoy those toppings but for me, not so much. I ended up ordering fried rice which was DELICIOUS and ate that happily. I wasn't provided a refund or anything for the botched FT but I was given a complimentary guava juice which was very sweet. Our servers were cheery and helpful. They also made friendly conversation often. I'd def go back again. My only qualm is the pricing.

It was ok. Not the best, especially for its $$$. But it will do. If your not to worried or picky about your breakfast, than this is the perfect spot. But if you like it hot, fresh, than try another location. Taste wise was a 3/5, customers service 5/5. Price was a little high for what they had to offer. Hope this helped! Enjoy!

There is something so disappointing about crappy seafood when you can SEE the ocean. I like the system they have worked out- check out the menu on the stairs, place your order at the top, head inside to pay and then be seated. I got the eggs Benedict over crab cakes. Now I lived in MD for 3 yrs and I know that the majority of the time I am going to be disappointed by crab cakes, the bar has just been set too high. But what I got was not really acceptable. On what seemed like hamburger bun halves lay two imitation 'crab cakes', emphasis on the cake part. Something I would expect to get at walmart in MONW Kansas. I should have gone w the traditional Benedict. Not something I'd expect for $14 at Waikiki Beach. The eggs were done to order, the only saving grace. Service wasn't bad but my shot glass of water was empty more than I'd have like. I might give them a second try before I leave. The pancakes seem to come w a mountain of whipped cream. Tempting and no seafood to disappoint.

Meh . . .. Don't be fooled by the lines I don't think this branch was worth the hour plus wait we had to endure to get a table. Thankfully food comes out fast once you are seated. Definitely the pancakes with the different syrups save this place from being less than 3 stars although I would probably give it 1-2 stars if I based it solely on the wait time. Their original restaurant on Saratoga has much better ambiance and decor and not giving you food on paper plates. I will say it faces Waikiki beach which was a big plus with the windows open and a nice breeze. Coffee was decent as was the POG juice

The line that's always in front of this place is not what I thought it was for! I've been wanting to see what's up with this place because I walk by it everyday and everyday there is a huge line...mostly Japanese. Well for one there's a line because the place is tiny. Two Japanese are eating here for the desserts & waffles...both of which I'm not in to. I like Portuguese sausage and loco moco. Their Portuguese sausage was actually pretty good...nice and toasted. Their loco moco was nothing great...good thing I was starving. If you're looking for that hearty breakfast experience...keep going. Check out Hula Grill, Lulu's...

It is what it is. A crowded breakfast place in a busy tourist area. Locals know better but it is with a short walk from most hotels. The "eggspress" system is actually very efficient. The line looks daunting but moves OK. Breakfast was good but not omg fantastic. The macadamia nut pancakes with coconut syrup are tasty. The best part was the fresh juice, we mixed orange, pineapple, and guava. And the plantation iced tea that mixes in pineapple juice with tea. Funny, I went for breakfast and enjoyed the drinks.

I have to agree with the reviewers below who recommend McDonald's over Eggs 'n Things. You'll not only save yourself time and money, but I suspect you'll get a better meal. With a constant line of patrons waiting on the sidewalk to get in, I would have thought there was something worth the wait. Boy, was I wrong. Cold, overcooked eggs, greasy undercooked bacon and rubbery pancakes. All served on paper plates with plastic utensils. (My fork broke trying to hold the pancake in place as I sawed away with the plastic knife. . .) I'm not sure what all the hype is about. It looks like I fell for it too!

Eggs n Things used to be AMAZING when Jan And Jerry owned it. It was legendary and the wait was worth it. Jerry loved to cook but even more than cook, he loved to fish and whatever he caught was sure to be blackened or sautéed and served with eggs that same morning. The restaurant was a mixture of locals and tourists and I ate there all the time. After jerry passed away from a heart attack Jan kept it going for several more decades and it was still awesome. Then she sold it and moved to Mexico and now it has morphed into its current form. Eggs n Things is Eggs n Things in name only, and a few left over recipes from the good old days. It has been turned into a Japanese tourist attraction by the current owners. With all due respect, Japanese tourists are brought over in groups, told where to shop, where to eat, what to see etc. they are herded around like cattle and one of the places that they are herded to is Eggs n Things. This leads to the paper plates and the overpriced, cold food of mediocre quality that Eggs n Things has become. The Japanese tourists will keep lining up there because they are told to, regardless of the quality of the food or service. Don't waste your time standing in line. Jerry would turn over in his grave.

Don't believe the hype. Do NOT eat here!!! Less than marginal food, drinks, and service. I think that the hype is actually the downfall of this eatery. They have to serve a neverending line of people, so they have to get you in and out quickly. First, the place is tiny and cramped. Food is served on paper plates, and you eat with disposable flatware. I'm sorry, but if I'm going to pay this much for breakfast, then I want a real plate, fork, and knife! I also want to be able to savor my meal and not feel rushed. The biggest downside is that the quality of the food is not that great. My omelet was served to me cold and runny on the inside. I had to fill my own Dixie cup with room temp water from a little service cart down the hall. The free, continental breakfast offered at our hotel would have been a much better choice! The only upside was the service of a couple of staff members. Highlight of my whole experience was the busboy, who was singing along to the piped in music with gusto (The Commodores...Brick House). They need to hire more people like the him...totally laid back, helpful, and nice!

Everything about this place sucks, it's a tourist trap in the worst way. The line out side is not because it good , but instead they take forever to serve you, with plastic forks and paper plates.

  • Michael G.

Food was good. And it's only because of this I would think of coming again. What I found strange was the serving of all food in environmentally safe cups, environmentally safe plates, and environmentally safe plastic utensils. The thought was there, but if you're really going to try and be environmentally safe, why not use real utensils, real cups, and real plates. Then wash and reuse them instead of having a heap of trash at the end of the day?

Not even worthy of half a star. - They can't split the check or it'll screw up the kitchen. - They can't really accommodate a group of more than four people, though I have to give them credit for trying. - You can get the same defrosted pancakes from McDonalds for 1/4 the price. - The crabLESS crabcake benedict is not worth $13. At first I was sort of disappointed because they were so tiny, but the size was actually a blessing in disguise because it tasted horrible. I didn't finish it. It was disgusting. Sorry. - To top it all off, I I ask the lady for the combination to the restroom door. She tells me it should be on your receipt. Whatever. Don't tell me.

Hair in the food. If you still need any more reasons to avoid this place, read on. The line down the sidewalk is usually always long, and the wait time here is excessive... mainly due to the small interior size of this restaurant. If there's more than 2-3 in your party, it'll be a challenge for them to accommodate you. An overly-complicated ordering system; combined with no attention to detail (my girlfriend's order was completely wrong) makes for a bad experience before you even take a bite. In addition, paying $12 for an omelette and then having it served to you on a paper plate is just... wrong. What's more, they provide you with disposable plastic cutlery that's ineffective. Save your money, and your time, find someplace else. (Their original location on Saratoga Ave. might be a better choice, if they still operate the traditional way: with waiters, porcelain plates and real cutlery).

  • Michael O.

What a disappointment! I used to love this place, and I've returned many times, but now it's ruined. Very expensive and it's terrible eating off of paper plates and the weakest plastic utensils known to man. The line is long, and the food is served cold...

    (1)
  • Frances R.

This is an EXPRESS version of the Saratoga Eggs N Things. The idea is for customers to get in and get out by being able to serve themselves to drink refills and quick clean up with the paper plates & plastic silverware. Pancakes were the size of my hand expanded and they were delicious! Coffee was fresh and hot. Employees were nice and respectful.

I've walked by here several times and every morning there's a line. Usually, I'm famished in the morning and don't have patience for waiting in linueps. It makes me "hangry", get it? Hungry and angry? But I wasn't too famished so I decided to check it out and see what it was all about. At this location, you lineup to the left and check out the menu and place your order with someone standing at the door. Then you go inside to pay and they give you one of those light up pager things and you get into another lineup to wait for a table. One of the reasons that it looks like there is a huge lineup because people are crowded around the menu board, blocking the path to the person who will take your order. Once you're in line, they won't take your order ahead of anyone in line. It doesn't matter if you know exactly what you want. I had to wait behind a family of 5 hemming and hawing and asking questions. In theory, there should be at least a second person taking orders. Luckily, I was dining alone, so there is a wall with several chairs mainly for solo diners, and I managed to get a seat before I actually got food. The light up pager lights up when your food is ready and you either go to the counter to pick it up or someone will deliver it to you if they see you first. This system was efficient on a Monday morning, dining solo, around 10 am, but the turnaround time seemed to be okay, but it might have been just my luck. I only had to wait 3 minutes after being seated before getting my food, but the waits in all of the lineups weren't long at all. I was in and out within 40 minutes, order and wait time included. The food? It was okay. I wanted to order the corned beef omelet with a side of rice but I chickened out at the last minute and decided to go for the portugese sausage with eggs and pancakes. I didn't think I'd eat all of the pancakes but I did! This tiny Japanese lady next to me ordered some pineapple macadamia pancake monstrosity, but it looked so good. Paper plates, plastic utensils, plastic cups, even if you dine-in. bad, bad, bad carbon foot print, that's why I docked a star. Tip: Skip the lineup for a table, order to go and go have your breakfast across the street on one of the tables by the beach. Skip the coffee too and grab an americanao at the Honolulu Coffee Company in the Sheraton 2 blocks down. Oh, and I'd go back for the pineapple macadamia monster pancake for dessert, but not breakfast. All in all, less waiting time than the location on Saratoga for the same product.

This is the what they call the lower end of the restaurant with paper plates and knives instead of traditional silver ware to help keep costs down or maybe expedite the food? I'm not sure. Service was actually very good, the host in the front quickly took our order with a IPAD and let us know about he kama aina discount! The hardest part about this restaurant is that I like to sit down first and think about what I like to order I felt very pressed for time since there was a line of 7 behind me, customers beware that you should start preliminary thinking before you go in! There is a giant sized menu right before you enter. If you go during peak hours of business I'm sure there will a lot of time to think about what you really want. The servers and waiters were very friendly and provided much needed "aloha" after a long night of Halloween festivities earlier that night. The server was super cool to bring me my own pitcher of water as they felt we needed to rehydrate! Absolutely Hillarious! I prefer this location over any of the others as I have waited in very long lines, sub standard service, and more importantly pricing. It seems that this location is one of the cheapest?! Well that's my perception! Still how can you ever go wrong with EGGS and THINGS sweet and salty Heaven!!!

This is as good as it gets. The food is great and the service is amazing! My family and I ordered the Loco Moco, Sausage and eggs combo, Macademia nut pancakes and an omelette. The portions were a perfect size for the early to share. The lines are quite long on regular meal hours, so come on time!

There is an odd phenomenon among the Japanese tourists in Hawaii. There appears to be some master list of acceptable eateries (promulgated by their guidebooks, I'm assuming), and they flock to these places like moths to a flame. Eggs n Things is one of these places. The owners recently opened a sister location on Kalakaua, ostensibly to relieve some of the demand from the Saratoga location. Both locations are too small to accomodate the throngs of people wanting a table. The food is pretty standard American breakfast fare. It's tasty and well-prepared. I'm a resident of Waikiki, and if this place was less popular with tourists, I'd eat here all the time. However, the inevitable wait for a table greatly diminishes my desire to go here. Also, they serve on paper plates with plastic silverware, unacceptable at a sit-down restaurant.

    (3)
  • Tricia L.

First experienced Eggs & Things at the Ala Moana Center. The experience was a pretty good one despite the long wait. Just checked out the Waikiki one and there were no long lines nor any waiting. Ordered the crab cake benedict. The crab cake was ok, but I did not like the hollandaise sauce. That was NOT hollandaise sauce. It was watery and too much paprika! Not only that, my eggs were VERY tiny. Don't know where they got them eggs from! Dove nest? Just kidding...Also, my daughter ordered steak and eggs with onion and mushroom. Even with the onion & mushroom, the steak had NO taste at all. She ordered medium rare and got medium well. For three people I paid well over $55.00. Not worth it from my experience.

We live here in Waikiki and always walk by Eggs and Things so we figured we might as well try it out. It is so overpriced especially for the food being served on paper plates. We did not wait long to be sat, but once we were seated it took about 30 minutes to get our food. We ordered omelettes with side orders of pancakes. My omelette was very runny and my pancakes were hard. We will not be eating here again.

Not worth of waiting the line unless you are Japanese tourists (which majority of diners are) This must be advertised as American breakfast Mecca for Japanese... Omelette, pancakes & waffles are good but nothing special about it. 'People' are weird... That's all I can say

Walked around for an hour trying to decide where to eat. Saw there was no line which was rare. Found this breakfast spot for dinner for my family. Not a fancy place at all. Small diner looking style. You order as you walk in and wait for a table. Food is served on paper plates and utensils. But pancakes with coconut syrup is pretty delish. I had their Kobe beef with eggs and rice. I tell ya, the rice made in HI are so good. My kids enjoyed the food here too.

Went here because as you walk down Kalakaua, the lines are enormously long... We came to find out that it's probably due to the fact that the place is small vs. the wow-factor of the food. We stood in line for about 40 minutes and when you get to the front, you order your food from a guy on an iPhone and then pay at the cashier. You then have to wait again for a table. Depending on timing, this could be a while, but that's okay because the food took forever to come out. Food was over priced breakfast and dinky. (one scoop of rice and really under cooked eggs.) The Coffee was "light" to put it politely. Paper plates... nuff said! Service was solid and the wait was real nice... waiting for the food took longer than expected. Nice view if you can a booth seat. We ended up in the middle section. This is definitely not a place for big groups. If you want to try it, go there when the lines aren't long.

Came here while on my Waikiki birthday staycation. I've wanted to try this place for a while. Finally got a chance to go and.....Um.....WAY OVERPRICED! I mean come on $11.95 for blueberry waffles...and the thin kind waffles with a single layer? Oh, and the pancakes that come with meat or omelets are silver dollar sized! I'm used to getting a stack of regular sized pancakes with my breakfast orders at other places like IHOP, Original Pancake House, and Koa Pancake House. But, I must say, the ham, white onion, cheddar cheese, and mushroom omelet was ONO! I will go as far as to say one of the best omelets I had in a loooooong time, but still yet, $11.95 is steep. Oh, and they charge $5 for a manini cup of orange juice. At least the coffee is refillable. And locals, beware, they give a 10% Kama'aina discount, but it's not advertised...or maybe I just couldn't see it. But nobody said anything to us at the counter. We happened to be sitting outside by the long line. We overheard the guy working the line tell another local family about the 10% Kama'aina discount. So, I said, "Hey, how come you never tell us about it?" That got me a little peeved. We could have saved a good $3 or $4! I guess we didn't look local enough. For an Eggspress, prices are just way to expensive. Even though I loved the omelet, I would not come here again due to the prices.

I stopped here after seeing the long lines on my walk to and from church. Had vaguely heard of it, and thought with these kind of lines (waited 1 hour in line before placing my order, then waited in another line to get a table). This place is not worth the wait or money. The veggies in my omelet (~$12) seemed fresh, and that is the only positive thing I can say about the experience (total time waiting in various lines approx. 1 1/4 hours, 1/2 hours of sitting/eating). My biggest disappointment, eating mediocre food off of paper pates, plastic utensils, and plastic cups. I am still trying to figure out....why the lines...I mean, this place is not very good in every way you would rate an eating establishment.

I was in Hawaii for a week and everyday, the line for this place was out the door and down the sidewalk! Despite the long wait, the food was definitely worth it. The Hawaiian Locomoco is delicious, with plenty of mushrooms and onions. Their plantation ice tea was just alright, I had to add some of their pineapple syrup to make it sweet enough for my tastes. There was an ungodly amount of sour cream on their strawberry sour cream crepe, but the it was enjoyable overall.

Decided to try out this place since it's always packed. I fugured so many people can't be wrong! We waited in line for 45 min. You look over the menu while in line & order at the top of the stairs. Once inside you have to share a table with other people b/c there are not enough seats. We continued to wait more for our food. We received the food & Denny's serves better food! Sad to say we were very shocked that the food wasn't better for all the hype and the price! This is one restaurant that you can skip.

The food is good, not great. The wait wasn't worth the price or food quality. I would suggest going when the line is shorter if you must. The juices were the highlight for me since they were fresh squeezed.

Please keep in mind this review is based on my first impression, as I did not eat the food there. Growing up here, I've heard about this place and decided to go check out what the raves were about. I looked at the menu before I went to the restaurant, and the prices weren't that bad. When I get there, the line is super long and the restaurant is tiny! I saw a couple eating on tables outside and the food is served on paper plates, this was a big turn off and decided to go eat somewhere else. Whether its a "eggspress or express" or whatever you want to call it, good food deserves to be on proper plates and eaten with silverware. Bottom line, Eggs N Things: You won't be getting my business anytime soon! Step up your game, if you open a location in the middle of Waikiki - make sure it's done right and can accommodate more people.

We just beat the rush and there was a line out to the street when we left. Ordering food is a bit unconventional as a person takes your order and gives you a buzzer when you make the front of the line outside of the restaurant. Nice views from inside, yet it was a bit tight walking in between tables. Strollers are not allowed inside due to the space and is instead kept outside through one of their backdoors. As for the food, it didn't really leave me with a lasting impression. The breakfast rice plates at McDonald's (which is only a few steps away from this establishment) could be considered competition in terms of taste. However, prices are doubled from what you'd pay at Mickey D's. The strawberry nut waffle my wife had was thin, and became chewy and hard within minutes. My sister in-law however enjoyed their spinach and mushroom omelete. But what really turned me down from this place was their use of use of plastic silverware and paper plates. I've never eaten at a $$ breakfast joint that served their food in "picnic-ware". I think I would have never have tried this place, if it wasn't for the hype of the line stretching from outside.

Just finished eating at this restaurant (?), food was lackluster and seating was terrible. Sat facing a wall waiting for our food. I ordered the French toast special, arrived Luke warm, cherries were cold and the whip cream didn't even melt when served. My wife ordered the Macadamia pancakes and they were also Luke warm. Butter served for pancakes was hard as a rock. Prices were a tad bit overpriced for eating your food on a paper plate with plastic forks and knives along with pouring your own drinks. French Toast $ 12.95, pancakes $ 10.95. I found it ironic that the tip jar is at the cash register when you pay for your food before you are seated. For the price, We should have gone to Wolfgang Puck's for freshly made food with real china and silverware.

I love this place! Prices are reasonable, nice staff, good food! However, the line is ridiculous sometimes... I can't wait to visit again my next trip to Hawaii!

Very strange set up as you can read in other reviews. I would give it 3 stars for the food. But since most of the staff is unfriendly and acts like they are doing you a favor, stay away from this tourist trap!

The wait.......can really be draining. Prices are a little high, but what do you expect for Waikiki. The wait and the prices are a no for me for next time. They are building a McDonald's right next to them, which may put some pressure on them.

We stayed at the attached Waikiki Circle hotel and were awe struck by the line at all hours of the day (it must be written in a guidebook somewhere that this place cannot be missed) so we opted to eat here during the marathon (I think all the Japanese tourists that normally line up were running that day). The service was friendly and the food was tasty but very overpriced for basic breakfast served on paper plates without waiter service (you preorder and pay at a counter, they bring to your table on a tray). Mix in the normal wait and I don't think it is worth it. I would walk 2 blocks toward Diamond Head and eat at Lulu's.

I decided to check out this new Eggs N Things location because I happened to come across the negative comments here on Yelp for this place. I am a regular at the other location (Saratoga) and have always been happy with my experience there. It is one of my favorite breakfast places here on Oahu. My friend and I went there yesterday and here are just some of my humble thoughts: 1) Food: Good, same quality as the other location. I ordered the Fresh Ahi Steak, with 2 sunny side up eggs and choice of pancakes on the side. The ahi steak is my favorite at Eggs N Things and this time, just like anytime, it was delicious. The fish was fresh and the Cajun seasoning brought out all the flavor of the fish with a little extra kick. I know it might be weird for some to have fish as breakfast food but in my opinion, the ahi steak is the best thing they have at here Eggs N' Things. And plus, I'm sure there are not many places on the mainland that serve Ahi steak for breakfast, so give it a try if you're feeling for something different. The pancake were fluffy and soft. There are 3 different flavored syrups: maple, coconut and guava. The coconut is the best in my opinion. My friend ordered the Crabcake Egg Benedict with potatoes and she also loved it. I tried it and also like the dish, especially the tangy, lemony sauce very much. We both love their regular iced tea (not the plantation iced tea, too sweet for my taste). It has a tropical flavor and is always so fresh. 2) The wait: Yes, the wait is long. And you know this when you go there and see a long line of people. I know it is not the most pleasant thing having to wait in line being hungry but remember you are aware of this from the get go. Every restaurant "lies" about their waiting time. I automatically add 10-15 minutes to the waiting time whenever I have to go restaurants. don't think they do it on purpose. It is just hard to give an accurate prediction because some people eat faster than others, some party is bigger than others...Moreover, this Eggs N Things location is pretty small and thus, the wait is inevitable. All that aside, I think talking about the long wait is okay as it is a good thing to mention so that other yelpers can consider this before going here; but to give a restaurant low reviews just because of the wait that you are aware of from the start is a little too harsh. In order to avoid the wait, you can come early. They open at 6 am. Avoid noon (when I was there; we waited a total of 35-40 min), it is crazily crowded. 3) The process was confusing: well nothing was confusing to me, except for after we paid for our food and were waiting for a table to sit down, we didn't know who in front of us were actually waiting for a table and who were just simply waiting for their take-outs. I think they should have 2 separate waiting areas: one for people who wish to eat in and one for those that wish to take-out; that would sure reduce the confusion. 4) The price: We paid $34 for our food. And I am happy with that. It is not cheap but please remember this is Hawaii, food is generally more expensive here (because things have to be shipped here), and not to mention that fact that you are in the heart of Waikiki. Eating out anywhere on this island will cost around this much. Bottom line is, I still prefer the other location just simply because I rarely go to Waikiki. But, If you are happen to be in Waikiki and have some time to spare for some good breakfast, give it a shot.

Mislead by long line. Food is okay. I don't get why it is full of Japanese? Love them but they would certainly love Denny's or Ihop too. Expensive for eggs.

This was my first time to Waikiki with my new fiancé. We got up early to walk the streets and get some breakfast and decided to stand in line at eggs and things. Took a little over and hour to get to the front of the line and order. Food was good and worth the wait. The service was great other than the wait. The waiter who took our order was great and gave suggestions on what to order. I would suggest going here if you have a couple hours to spare.

The food was definitely good but the long wait and shabby interior do not add up to a great experience. Probably won't be back.

Expensive and gross...high fructose corn syrup, cheap bacon, cardboard pancakes, rotten service, plastic utensils and paper plates...and throngs of mindless tourists blindly following their "tour books".

Loved the place. There was a long line and I thought "forget it" but the gentleman in the front said it's 15 min tops and he was right. Ok not cheap but it's Waikiki after all. Food was awesome, every waiter smiling, making little jokes, clean place. Truly the Aloha spirit.

This place is NOT worth the wait at all! You can get a better breakfast at McDonalds one block away, and pay a fraction of what you'll waste here. We went this morning, and it was shockingly awful. We got the strawberry whip cream pancakes and the acai bowl. The pancakes were $12, so we figured they would at least be a decent size stack. Wrong. It was 5 small pancakes, with a few soggy strawberries, covered in a ridiculous mountain of whip cream, all served on a floppy paper plate. Our utensils? Disposable plastic fork, knife and spoon in plastic packaging. The acai bowl was laughably bad - the smoothie part was a frozen block - apparently they just make a bunch of these the night (or week) before and then stick it in the freezer. When you order, they throw some fruit and granola on it and give it to you. It is impossible to eat - you literally have to chip away at the frozen block with your plastic spoon. It's pathetic - but at least we got to pay $7 for the frozen acai block. It was really sad to wait forever and then have such an awful breakfast experience. I hope by writing this I save someone else from a bad start to their morning.

Island Moco Loco isn't that good compared to Rainbow's. My boyfriend likes their island style fried rice though. line is longer than it should be but I only think that it's like this because it appears to be the only breakfast place in waikiki.

What a tourist trap. My husband and I had pancake and waffle. We regret waiting to get in and eating those horrible dishes in our vacation time. The pancake was half done and taste like raw dough. The waffle was very thin and hardly looks fluffy. The price was about $11 each, which costs as much as 4 stars hotel pancake. They served in paper dish and plastic cutlery. Only thing we enjoyed was coffee. Never come back again.

totally NOT worth of the wait and money you pay for. This place is for people who do not normally eat pancakes or waffles for breakfast, therefore, they would have no idea what a real pancake and waffles are like. I regret waiting for 80 minutes and paid 50 bucks for the 4 of us. Trust me, you get your time and money spent elsewhere for a much better value.

don't let the tourist advertisement on TV fool you. the food is mediocre at best and the portions are ridiculously small for what you pay. do not fall pray for this tourist trap... MAC 24/7 is overall better with a higher class dining experience

This is the Eggs 'n Things Eggspress. So It is a little different than the sit down restaurant. The way you order is kind of weird, but it seems to work for them. You order at the door and you get a buzzer. Then you stand in line for a table (if they are busy) and when your buzzer buzzes, you go to the counter and pick up your food. I went with two friend and we wanted to try three different things and share. We ordered the eggs benedict, their famous pancakes with strawberries and whipped cream, and a spinach and bacon omelet with mozzarella. All three were sooo good! Apparently Hawaiians eat rice with breakfast so we got rice with the eggs benedict. Surprisingly, the rice was really good with the hollandaise sauce, so it worked. The sauce was delicious and the eggs were so fresh they looked like they just came from the chicken that morning. The yoke was bright orange! delicious! The omelet, was really good, but nothing super special. It had a very generous amount of bacon in it though, and since I LOVE bacon, I was happy. But the favorite was the pancakes. They were light and fluffy with an enormous amount of whipped cream on top of the strawberries. But what made it the best was the coconut syrup. At first it didn't sound good to me, but I figured, I'm in Hawaii, how can I not try the coconut syrup. If i didn't like it, There was maple syrup available. So I tried it , and it was AMAZING! It was so good I bought a bottle of it to take home with me. This place is not going to be your food critic's favorite place, but it is delicious, reasonably priced, great service, and has a beautiful view of Waikiki beach.

We went there for dinner since there was no line and the restaurant was empty. That should have been a hint for us to not eat here. I ordered a steak dish, the meat came out looking like pink slime. My husband's local moco tasted like canned dog food. Over priced food. Not good.

Won't go back. Two omeltes, macnut waffle, side sausage 1 coffee and 1milk $45, before tip. Pancakes were fast food quality, home fries horrible, sausage were "brown n serve frozen brand. Coffee was horrible, food was poor diner quality. Too much money for paper plate, plastic ware self serve place.

Macadamia pancakes were definitely good, worth the long wait in line...maybe. Worth the price, unfortunately no. They are good pancakes but the tourist price tag is not worth paying for. Setting and location of the resto is really good, right at Waikiki in front of the main road across the beach (Kalakaua), try this place at least once since you're in Waikiki anyways. Coconut syrup gives it an interesting flavor. Would i come back to this place for seconds, probably...

Eggs N Things and Eggspress are both owned by the same company. My wife and I ate at the Eggspress location. I will say that the food was good. The dining area was rather small, hence the "eggspress" moniker. We got in line at 6:45 AM and still waited for 25 plus minutes to be seated. As the previous reviewers all said, you stand in line, they take your order, you wait for a seat, you get your food (and get your own coffee). I had the Banana pancakes with a side order of bacon. My wife had buttermilk pancakes with a side order of bacon. She also ordered the fruit cup to go. With this order, in addition to a small OJ and two coffee cost us $54, almost $55. The food was decent but I'm not convinced that it was a $54 breakfast ($5 tip). I can say "been there, done that". I won't do it again, that's for sure but I won't fault the restaurant. They cater primarily to the Japanese crowd and that's fine. I just would like to know this ahead of time is all and yes, it was crowded.

This place is soo delicious and worth the wait! It was soo good my family and I came back the very next day. This is a place I would come visit every time I come to Waikiki! The spinach, bacon, and cheese omelette with pancakes is very delicious and was our favorite thing on the menu!

Been eating at Eggs n' Things since their Ena Rd location. Disappointing knock-off of the others. Can't really be called a 'restaurant'. A girl on the stairs taps your order into an iPhone. You pay at the cashier and get a pager. You sit on a sofa to wait for your food or a table to eat at. (Very limited seating). My two favorite breakfast dishes were combined into a daily special, Corned Beef Hash Loco Moco. The hash appeared like it came from a can, though they claim it was fresh. The rice was gritty and half-cooked. Pointed this out to my 'server' and all they could do was apologize -- no offer to replace the meal, which I didn't finish because of the quality. Ah, for the good old days when the older Japanese lady greeted you by name and breakfast here was a meal worth waiting for.

I'm not a usual breakfast person except when in Waikiki. I have been following Eggs & Things around the neighborhood for 34 years and even plan a HNL stopover to have breakfast at Eggs & Things and dinner at Alan Wong's. We're staying at the Sheraton Princess Kaiulani (what a dump) and saw the new location and thought we'd give it a try. What a disappointment! I like the pancakes and scrambled eggs so I go for the 2X4. I was told years ago that their secret to their eggs was that they used clarified butter but I'm sure that was not the case today as they tasted ho hum. The pancakes just didn't have their usual lightness and flavor. Paper plates and plastic utensils just doesn't work especially when paying $8 for this simple meal. Also, I was repulsed when the pancakes showed up with fake butter Promise. There isn't a reason in the world for me to return. I will give the regular location another try.

We recently stayed in Waikiki for a week and kept walking by Eggs 'n things and there was always a huge line. One night we decided to go for dinner, like some of the other reviewers have notes, you have to wait in line and order. How were we supposed to know that? So we get up to the front of the line and are expected to order and we didn't know you were supposed to look at a menu and know what you want when you get up there. Then, because there were six of us, a guy who worked there implied to my husband that he could seat a large party (for a tip). What is this, Vegas??? Anyway, we order our food in line. Then I have to go in and pay at the counter. THEN, we are seated. The food itself was very good. But i'm not sure I'd go back because of the experience as a whole. Oh yeah, we also had to go up and get our own water. Not sure why on the recepit, there's a place for a tip, who are you going to tip? when there are no waiters.

Odd. We paid for the coffee, but didn't get cups. Had to ask for them, and then pour it ourselves. Paper plates, Promise butter in tiny plastic packages for my pancakes, unripe fruit, eggo waffles, long wait.

been to the islands many times before and there is ALWAYS a long line out the door at these EnT places. on our last morning in waikiki, we decided to check 'em out. we stood in line for what seemed to be 30 mins. we studied the menu before giving our order to the order taker. no substitutions, no sides of fried rice so i ended up ordering island fried rice with eggs and side of portugese sausage. we paid for our order (short line), and then waited in the 'to be seated' line (moved quickly). our order was up in 10-15 mins after sitting at our table. the food was decent, my fried rice was a tad bit on the salty side, but great flavor (kamaboko, bacon, sausage, chinese broccoli, carrots, ham; a meal in itself). it's great to see a business take the 'green' initiative by using paper plates, compostable utensils, drinking cups made from corn...but is it really being 'green' if the recyclables are not separated out in the trash? the 'wait staff' were nice, pleasant and helpful, so don't forget to stuff the tip jar when paying for your meal!

We needed a place to eat breakfast at 6 am-ish since we were still on CA time and my kids were hungry. This was the closest place in walking distance to our hotel that seemed to offer American breakfasts, so decided to chance it even though the reviews and ratings weren't the best. We're so glad we did. There wasn't much of a wait, but i could see how later in the day it could back up. We sat right down at a table after ordering and paying. I got the special of sweet bread french toast with bananas, whipped cream, and macadamia nuts. I topped it with the coconut syrup that was on the table and it was DIVINE! Hubs had an omlette, which he ate without comment, so it must have been good.. Kids had pancakes, eggs, toast. The kids' eggs were a bit rubbery and dry. Orange juice was fresh squeezed, so good! Breakfast here hit the spot and was definitely better than what we would have eaten at our hotel buffet.

Not worth your time or money. Every thing here taste like it went from the freezer to the microwave to your plate. There are too many other places on this street. If you want to taste Eggs and Things, go to the Saratoga Rd location. Their great.
