Best sushi. Best food. Best employees. I used to work here. The management at Kani really takes care of its staff. Some people are surprised by the prices. Just know before you go in that, if you plan to eat Hibachi, you will pay 20-30. But it's worth it!

Lame ,uninspired and tired. This is hardly sushi. It is, 'cooked roll for round eye'. Too much sauce on everything. Too much sauce in general. The sashimi is as good as the California roll at Publix . ugh. The Miso was the highlight of the meal. And it was standard. Don't bother unless you hate raw fish.

Traditional hibachi is good, they usually cater to children pretty good. Price is common for this type atmosphere. If you order filet it's my favorite choice! The sushi is an issue, flavor and quality is good but every time the rolls are loose and most often they fall apart which is irritating. Service is above average and location is good. Great for parties, they have separate closed off areas that offer privacy and create a meeting space just for your group.

This is a place where Towne Lakers go to be amused by the antics of the hibachi chefs. I do not enjoy sitting at a large table with strangers watching them marvel at an onion volcano, or watching shrimp tossed in their mouth. Food other than hibachi is good. Sushi is mediocre at best. Anyone that raves about the sushi is inexperienced. Service is terrible, especially from the hostesses. They make you wait even when dining tables are open and always have a smarmy attitude. The servers are slow and unfriendly. We go to Kani occasionally because their tempura and Bento boxes are hard to find anywhere else. That said, we put up with the rest of what is really a consistently poor experience.

My husband and I are regulars at Kani House in Towne Lake. There are other sushi restaurants in our area but this is by far our favorite! Let me tell you why... When we arrived in Towne Lake in 2005, we were thrilled to find that there was a Japanese steak house right down the street. We started going there for the Hibachi. The kids loved it! Each year that passed the kids got older so my husband and I were able to venture out on our own and enjoy some alone time. After mingling in the "cool" scene we were soon full fledged Sushi fans! We decided to try out different Sushi bars in and around our area. Our first experience sitting at the Sushi bar at Kani House was nothing less then excellent! We had been to a couple others in the area but really liked the atmosphere at Kani. The Sushi chefs behind the bar were so friendly and even gave us free samples to try. Free anything these days is very hard to find. He interacted with us during our entire meal, asking what our favorites were. My husband started out with the Drunkin Tiger Roll. This roll is actually fried which is perfect for the novice Sushi eater. Well it has been 9 years and still when choosing a local Sushi restaurant, Kani is our #1 choice! The chefs know our names and the kind of Sushi that we like. We have recently learned that it is a good idea to make reservations at the Sushi bar during the weekends. I love that they allow you to do this! Also, don't be afraid to bring the kids to join you at the bar. We brought our 9 year old son last week and were pleasantly surprised that we have another Sushi lover in the family!

Definitely one of my favorites for a good show and good food! The atmosphere is very nice, with all of the waitresses wearing traditional kimonos, which I thought was a nice touch. They're all very friendly as well. The food is pretty good too, and the show is different every time. While some are better than others, it's always a fun thing to watch. They treat you very well on your birthday, serenading you with a birthday song in Japanese, drum included, and taking your picture holding a large paper umbrella. They also give you special chopsticks. :) Added bonus: went on New Year's Eve this year, and they gave everyone a cool 2015 calendar for free! Thought that was a neat thing to do :) Overall, this place is pretty great!

Used to be awesome; now, not so much. When we first moved to Woodstock, Kani was new and the food was great. We moved away and returned 3 years later...still good. Moved away again and returned last fall and with each order the love that once was has gone away. The interior is showing its age( I felt sorry for anyone sitting in line with the restrooms--the smell was very obvious). I can overlook decor if the food is still good, but this is not the case at Kani. The service was great--they are always friendly and fast. The sushi/sashimi has been less enjoyable each time. This past Sunday was the last time we will ever order from there.

Not a huge fan of this place. I hate to leave a short review when I normally write more about specifics. But, in this case, I am just saying I am not a huge fan and I will not go back anytime soon.

Ordered the Hula Steak which was supposed to be marinated in Hawiian spices... I got the same steak everyone else got with some pineapple and a sauce poured on when served, $3 extra for yuck. At least the steak was tender. The chef gave a quarter of my friends filet minion to another guest by mistake... instead of getting new plates and fixing it or even cooking more, he left it there and shorted my friend. They refiled diet cokes at the table with Dr Pepper. Another guest ordered ginger chicken, it was cooked with all the other chicken, then the chef put raw ginger on the chicken as he served it to her, yuck! Ordered a sushi appitizer with drinks. Took so long to come out we were already eating fried rice and veggies by the time we got the sushi. We had to complain about how hot it was before they finally turned on the ceiling fans. There were three different watresses coming to our table and none of them seemed take responsibility for the table, it was like they were stuck with us. And this wasn't an off time either, it was 7:30 PM on a Saturday night. Usually you have a bad expereince because of bad food or bad service or bad environment, this trip we hit the trifecta, at least we had good company or it would have been a total loss. First trip about six months ago was nothing like this, we had a great time. But this trip has greatly soured my opinion of Kani House. I'll try again when this memory fades since our first trip was good, but it won't be anytime soon.

Great spot! Service is always great and the food is wonderful! They also do a great job of taking care of the group you are in appropriately... meaning that they cater to the date night couple or to the family with kids. We've been there for both and really enjoy the food and service.

I came here with my fiance and son on a Sunday afternoon hoping for good sushi and hibachi. It seemed like from the moment we got here we were an inconvenience. The hibachi guy slogged through his chore of Making us food, and we had to steal napkins and bowls for our sushi soy sauce. They forgot the side of rice for my son as well. I can do better elsewhere for average food and poor service

Went here twice so far. The first time, I ordered the chicken teriyaki bento box. I found the chicken very dry and would not order again. I did like the California roll though. My boyfriend got the filet mignon fried rice with kani sauce (yum) and there was enough for leftovers. The service was fast. The second time we both got the filet mignon fried rice and the portion was so small. :( Also the service was very slow. I understand it was busy but we were seated and then I acknowledged for 10 minutes, wondering if they forgot about us or not. Anyway, it's still yummy but I would prefer if it was more consistent in terms of portion size and service, considering the price.

We always have a good time at Kani House, the show at the hibachi grill was spot on during each visit and this visit was no exception. The only thing I would suggest is that the cooks don't try to throw grilled food into the guests mouths, that's kind of tacky. Both cooks within our room did it on this visit. A little disappointing that they don't provide a photo of a person there to celebrate a birthday anymore. Service was great and the waitress was very attentive to our needs.

When my bf and I first moved to Woodstock about a year ago we noticed the Kani House driving by and being the huge sushi-Asian food fan that I am, I always wanted to go there... But we never got a chance to before moving out to Sandy Springs. So when we started planning for Father's Day, this was one of the first places we were thinking about, being my bf's father still lives in Woodstock. We arrived a few minutes early for our reservation, were seated quickly and everything seemed to be going perfect. We sat with another family, a younger couple with 3 little kids (super cute and well behaved). Anyway, we were waiting for our server to come so we could at least get our drink order in... we waited.. and waited.. and waited. Now, I've worked in restaurants my whole life, my mom, has been a server since she was a teenager, so I TOTALLY understand that it's busy so we would have to wait a little bit... But it was getting ridiculous! I'm not even over exaggerating; we waited 30+ minutes... just for the server to take our DRINK ORDER! I was starting to feel bad, one for my bf's dad (because this is the place we picked) and two, for the poor little kids sitting next to us. When she finally came over, we order some appetizers, they came fairly quickly and that's when we ordered our food. I was the only one who ordered sushi, 2 rolls and some edamame. My bf asked if there was anyway that my sushi could come out when the hibachi started so we could all eat together, the server said yes that would be fine. Now since I had seaweed salad, I didn't even notice when the hibachi started that my food never came. Then everyone start eating & my food was still no where to be found (along with our server). Finally everyone is DONE eating and my bf is pissed at this point since my food never came. Once the server came back, she only brought the BILL and my SUSHI was on it! Come on now! How could you charge us for something we never received?! My bf went up to speak to the manager, who was totally rude and could careless that we were there to celebrate Father's Day and we were willing to spend money! I honestly thought we were going to spend $120+ and didn't even have a problem with it. He said that he would take off my sushi but would do nothing else for us. What kind of customer service is that? We drove 40+ minutes from Sandy Springs to eat there, we were willing to spend a lot of money AND this is the place where we chose to spend our Father's Day. What a disaster! Never again! I'm so upset that we even paid for anything. I will make sure to tell everyone I know about that God awful place and make sure I write anywhere I can explain my experience. Please DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME OR MONEY HERE!!!! TERRIBLE!!!!!!

I love this place! While it is a little expensive it is a nice treat for special occasions. I always get the Kani House special and sit at the habbachi grill. It is very entertaining. They have a wonderfully friendly staff. The pink sauce is so good you can put it on any food item ,and it makes it ten times better. good for family and friends, great for groups. my fiancée says they have great sushi too!

I have been a long time patron of great Hibachi, I am so happy to have had such a wonderful experience in my own back yard. The Kani House was "date night" for me and my youngest child this past friday. What a treat! Not only was the food amazing, but the ambiance was warm and inviting and truly took us out of our backyard and into an exotic location! The food was authentic and delicious! Our waitstaff really was on top of things..and kept it very fun for my son. Overall, I can't wait to spend another friday here! Thanks guys!

I was out in Woodstock working and on a recommendation tried Kani. Its a really nice place and I am only reviewing the Sashimi here. First, well the Miso soup was not hot and was totally bland. Good Miso soup is usually a sign of excellent Sashimi I have found. Not sure why but thats been my experience. So you are probably guessing based on my Miso soup comment that I didn't care for the sashimi and you would be absolutely correct. While they had a nice selection of Sashimi (flounder, white tuna, sea bass, snapper) all of it was mediocre. Just not much flavor. Not sure if its how the fish is stored that makes it that way. Nothing was bad just not tasty. I will stick with my favorite Yu-Ka in Atlanta...Never disappointed there.

I imagine they have taken the previous negative reviews to heart and have changed a few things because my experience was awesome. The place is nicely decorated and has a casual dining area, a formal hibachi experience area, a sushi bar, and a serious bar with plenty of drinks. So far, I have to say this is my favorite sushi restaurant I have been to in the metro Atlanta area. We brought a small group for our friend's birthday and everyone had different dishes and from what I tasted it was really great. There are so many sushi combinations to try, I can't even tell you what I had. Maybe one was a godzilla roll, king kong, ninja turtle? Who knows, they have silly names, but who cares it rocked. I could tell the fish was fresh, which is something I'm picky about. The waitstaff was on point and came around to check if our drinks needed refreshing and if we were enjoying the food. If you are looking for a nice experience with an intimate setting for cocktail hour, family get-togethers or date night, this is a great little find tucked away in Woodstock.

A solid place for Sushi and Rolls. Nice wine list and the special rolls were excellent. Try the new Fab 5 roll and Atomic Bomb. Could stand a good cleaning as the bars and floors seemed a bit sticky. Other than that, well worth the trip.

Great place! The hibachi is fun and the sushi is good. Family enjoys it. Vegetarian Friendly, nice staff and good location. Only complaint is they get really busy at night, so might want to call ahead. Great for parties!

I went to Kani House last year for my birthday with my family and we had a great time. I would say it is the second best hibachi place I have ever been to. I've noticed quality asian food is really lacking down south so I was happy to find this gem. I remember I got the chicken and steak hibachi combo. The chicken was amazing and the steak was good but I didn't like the flavor of sauce that it was in. This also came with soup, salad, steamed vegetables and dessert for just under 20 bucks. You really can't beat that price for quality food. They also put some weird thing on my head and sang happy birthday to me which was hilarious. I would definitely come back here.

Went on my first date with my guy here, and we had a perfect experience. I had never really had real hibachi before, but my SO had. We ended up tipping 50% for how on point our waitress was. Most of the time she was bringing me something the moment I realized I needed it. Great staff, lovely experience I was convinced to try the filet mignon and oh my HEAVEN it was like a melody of perfection to my taste buds. The fried rice was spectacular and the whole experience was lovely. First time trying misu soup and liking it! Other places i had always had a distaste for it. We wish the chef had put more of a show on, but except for that fact I give a well deserved 5 stars!
