Best Mexican food on this side of town! Finally got a chance to have dinner here after driving by it since opening and I'm sorry it took this long. Arrived at 7pm on a Friday night expecting the typical wait time of 20-30 minutes...and we were seated immediately (something that almost kept me from writing this review, but would rather have them stay open than have short waits). Our server was Kevin and he was the perfect balance of attentiveness...enough to ensure we were taken care of without hovering constantly. After notifying him that my wife had food allergies, he was able to help identify which dishes met her needs and others that could be modified. After placing the orders, he double checked the ingredients for their Spanish rice, confirmed that it would not have been suitable and let us know. As it turned out, the basmati rice with lime was wonderful! We ordered the tacos, Ensenada wrap and quesadilla. All were served with minimal wait, hot and flavorful. You could tell that fresh ingredients and seasonings were used in their preparation, definitely not the standard Mexican fare found in Valdosta. They offered soft or 3 types of hard shells for the tacos: wheat, white and corn. There are several choices of meat ranging from seafood (shrimp, fish) to pork, chicken, and beef (ground or shredded). The verde sauce on the wrap was a nice balance of flavor and spice without being overpowering. And I will second the thumbs up of the previous reviewer regarding the Santa Fe sauce, great stuff. No complaints from anyone on the food. My wife and I will definitely be back and hope that the Cactus Flower stays where they are for years to come.

The food is delicious and the staff is really great - which is shocking when a restaurant first opens! Come here for lunch, don't come here for dinner. The dinner menu is the same as the lunch menu but $5 more expensive per item. And the portions are the exact same size.

Really good food! Great tortilla soup...best I've ever had! My kids really enjoy it. Pretty expensive for dinner. Service is good.

Kind of meh and bland. Not bad by any means, just middle of the road. I had the California burrito and it really had no flavor to speak of. Probably not somewhere I'll visit again.

Went here for a late lunch with the family. Very nice atmosphere, very clean, good service, fresh ingredients, nice menu variety. Would highly recommend this restaurant.

Probably deserves 5 stars. We always seem to come here when we are in a hurry which makes it feel as if the service is slow. Food is always fresh and tasty and there are a good variety of options to choose from. Margaritas are very tasty. I am here on a Saturday and they have a $2 margarita that tastes like it would be at least $7 at other places. The complimentary chips and salsa are great. The salsa is thick, appears to be made fresh in a blender, and is addicting. Appetizer took 13 minutes from placing our order to arrival at the table. Entrées came one minute later. Our waitress was pretty quick overall. I always leave the Cactus Flower with a smile and I always recommend it to other people.

We've been here three times--each time we had great food & great service. Great Baja style--it's a breath of fresh air from your typical sit down Mexican restaurant. Try the guacamole (it's a little pricey, but very tasty).

Oh wow! Where do I start?? We decided to try this place out because we got tired of eating at two places. So we gave this place a try! Oh my! So glad we went! I usually don't like Mexican food but this is so good! I got Mahi fish tacos. Every time I get fish tacos, I always get disappointed with the dish. But this is so different! It has lots of flavors (little but spicer than my taste) and so delicious!! It came with 3 tacos which I was only able to eat 2...it also came with rice and beans. I chose to get cilantro lime rice (white grain rice) and black beans since that's what the waiter suggested. He was so right! The beans were phenomenal! It went perfect with the cilantro lime rice! So glad we came to this restaurant and will definitely come back!! Next time, I'm gonna ask to have my fish tacos grilled and light in the spice!!

Worst service we have ever received at a restaurant, which resulted in us walking out after waiting an hour and half for a burrito and a bean and cheese tostada. It was practically empty when we walked in, however, 4 tables came and gone while waiting. For the last ten minutes our food sat in the window and we asked for it to go..nothing happened so we left, with no time to eat before we had to get to work. HORRIBLE

Best Mexican in town... Period. I don't entirely agree with the claim that it is "California style Mexican food" but I will tell you that everything on the menu is clearly prepared fresh... on my latest visit I had the southern California burrito with steak... I would stop short of calling it divine, but fantastic none the less... and please stop to think of the location... Valdosta, let's face it... not known for its cuisine. There may be other locations with this banner, but in Valdosta this is a true diamond in the rough.

This place is pretty good. Went there for dinner at 7:30 on a Saturday, and there was only 1 other table in there. The food was tasty. Nothing that blew me away, but pretty good americanized-mexican food. Our sever was soft spoken and very hard to hear, but service was fine. Worth giving it a shot if you haven't been there before.

I found this place on Yelp. Cactus Flower Cafe is a franchise operating in a few locations in northern Florida, Alabama, and this one in Valdosta, Georgia. It's a very pretty space in a strip mall. The room has high ceilings, wait staff, tablecloths and a bar. So it's not a fast food restaurant. They're open 11 to 4 on Sundays and through dinner the rest of the week. We stopped in at 2:15 and had the place to ourselves. I ordered the lunch special: a small quesadilla, green salad, and cup of soup for $8.95. The tortilla soup was good but too salty. The salad and quesadilla were fresh and delicious. Greg got a beef torta, which came with a choice of soup or salad, and also cost $8.95. He said his sandwich was delicious but messy, full of cheese, meat, salsa and guacamole. Although this isn't a fast food place, we were back on the road, hands clean and stomachs satisfied, within a half an hour. I'm sure it wouldn't be as quick during regular hours, but of course speed of service isn't usually that important for most diners. The biggest drawback for us is that it was about ten minutes from the interstate.

Food was great! I went on a Sunday for lunch and was very pleased with the whole experience. I ordered the lunch burrito with black beans and cilantro lime rice. The burrito was huge and full of flavor. The Santa Fe sauce was awesome. I will going back.

Excellent food, great atmosphere and a much needed improvement on the "mexican food experience". The chimichanga was to die for. This restaurant is a much improved business and quality of food compared to the previous tennant. This was our second visit and we will be back soon. A+ experience. They also have delivery through Gowaiter.com

Mexican Cuisine

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.
