Based largely on other Yelp reviews, we checked this place out in early November on a bitterly cold Saturday night. Despite the weather, well over half their tables had diners. As other have stated, the service is quite good. Given that their cuisine is 'Goan' and not 100% standard Indian fare that most customers will be used to (myself included), they go out of their way to offer assistance in making menu recommendations. After such a session, you're very likely to get something slightly different than you've had before, but which you'll probably enjoy. I'm far from what I'd term 'adventurous' when it comes to food, but I was glad we tried this. Both my wife and I enjoyed our dishes (though since it's been over 5 weeks, I don't specifically recall what we had (I think mine was curry and hers was a chicken dish). Another thing that I liked probably requires a short explanation. Years ago, one of our most memorably bad dining experiences was at some chain restaurant called "China Coast", which deservedly didn't last long. It was like the worst aspects of P.F. Chang and Applebee's combined into a concept that didn't work. One main facet which I recall was that all the staff (regardless of whether they were Asian, white, or whatever) all had to wear these fake satin-y sort of Chinese shirt / smock things; the effect was really laughable (especially on the pale blonde hostess who seated us as well as our Indian waiter dude with a bad head-cold). So with that as context, I'll say that at Myzenes I was actually impressed that our waitress (who I'd guess was part of the owning family) was wearing a Metallica t-shirt. This is in no way a complaint; I appreciate that they don't feel compelled to go buy faux-saris or something. I'm not even a metal fan, but I really enjoyed that. To me, it says "we are focused on the food!" We plan to return; definitely recommended!

So we had dinner at Myzenes last week. Not a formal place if u r looking for one..The hostess was very informative about the coastal Indian cusine. The food here is a perfect combination of Goan/Portuguese cuisine. Delicious food !! Pork sausage sandwich is to die for and so was the spicy shrimp meal..We will go back for more :)

Love this place. U will get yummy Goan food also few north Indian dishes. The owner is very nice and welcoming. Must try Pompret fry Chicken Samosa Charizo Pao Lasuni Chicken. The owner uses all fresh ingredients and is from Goa so gets all the flavors from the coast.

Amazing, according to my 13 year old daughter on our date night. Kate loved the Paratha with her Masala, and we loved the Xacuti - curry cooked with roasted coconut and other spices. Wonderful dinner. The Bebincs dessert is a must.

This place rocks! I stopped here for lunch, and got the Fish Curry Thali place. We were served by the owner and she told us some of the things that makes this place special. They only use fresh ingredients, no frozen or canned veggies. And the style of food comes from a region of India previously controlled by the Portuguese, resulting in a fusion of Inidian and Portuguese flavors. The taste was incredible, ever item bursting with unique delicious flavors. It was a large amount of food with many items on my plate. There was coconut curry fish prepared two ways, lentils prepared two ways, a green bean/ onion mix, fresh canage salad, and 50% whole wheat flatbread. I wish I lived closer, so I could go here all the time. Best ethnic food I have eaten since I moved to the Atlanta metro area.

I'm really confused on the reviews and the food I got from here. The owner was very interactive and helped us with deciding the order. There were no one in the restaurant; that's probably I went there. at 3pm. We ordered pork and fish thali. The pork curry was tasting good but the fish in the curry was of low quality, though the gravy was tasting good. The other side dishes were also not very tasty. I have had a lot of Goan food in the past and I was expecting a bit more especially based on the previous reviews. I may try this place in future as I think it's just the dish I ordered was not good.

Excellent service - the lady who runs the restaurant is very welcoming. The restaurant is clean and hygienic. I love their mushroom dish cooked with Goan spices.

Great food and the owner is the best...she is so helpful. Order the cilantro chicken

Delicious food here!! Chicken Tika Massala & Chicken Makana are both amazing!! Family run, great service, amazing food!!!!

  • Karunya S.

Amazing food, great service. We ordered the fish recheado and chicken xacuti. Both were delicious and good proportions. The fish rechedo came with fish curry and rice... thats the best. This is a good change from the typical chicken 65 kind of menus found in almost every Indian restaurant in Atlanta.

Wonderful people run this restaurant. They totally make you feel comfortable. We have been several times both lunch and dinner and taken foodies and non foodies. Everyone was pleased.

Excellent food with outgoing owners who really care about their quality and customers. If you expect Indian to be a cheap buffet with greasy daals and the dreadfully boring safety dish of chicken tikka masala, then reset your expectations and dine well for a change. I recommend bypassing the Thali here and going straight for some of the main entrees instead. The chicken Kori Gassi was the best chicken curry dish that I have ever experienced in a restaurant! My Indian hubby and I cook Indian from scratch at home and we could tell that the spices were freshly ground whole roasted spices versus powders or ready made curry mixes. The owner also verified this. The Recheado fish (we chose the kingfish since there is only one center bone and more flesh) was wonderful. The fish curry sauce (separate from the recheado) was ok. We can't wait to return and try more dishes. A hearty meal for 2 here will run you about $40 w/o alcohol. It is very hard to find such freshness and quality in Indian restaurants and our money was well spent.

Johns Creek's best kept secret. We found out about this restaurant just accidentally and were glad we did. This place holds the distinction of being the only Goan restaurant in Atlanta. The food is delicious and has a home-cooked touch. The Lasun Dhaniya Chicken uses Chinese sauces with Indian spices and leaves you wanting more. We had the Recheado (King Fish) as our entree. The portion is big enough for two to share. However, if you can handle it ask for extra spicy. We went with "medium" and it wasn't spicy enough (for us). We will return to try more from the lip-smacking menu. For now the delicious bebinka that we brought home, beckons.

I rarely give a place 5stars but every dish we ordered was great. My wife had a fish stew, I had the king fish and my sister Inlaw had the butter chicken, one word delicious! The place is new to the area. They are planning to have outside seating which will be a plus but don't wait for that. The fifth star is definitely for the owner. The owner was wonderful and accommodated us by making my wife's dish very mild. I thought every dish had the right amount of seasoning, none were over powering with spice. The owner even gave us her own home made bread to try and it was much better than any naan bread we ever had.

Simply amazing. Owners are very friendly and food was amazing. Perfect flavors and spices. It was our first time trying Goan style food and the owners provided some explaining.

Top Notch, amazing coastal Malabar authentic cuisine haven't gone wrong yet on any of the dishes tried on the menu. Friendly service, wish them good luck for the future.

Not your typical Indian food. I'm not a specialist on the region. But recommend giving it a try for something different. Atmosphere is modest. Basic wine and beer.

The food at Myzenes was absolutely incredible. If you are looking for a unique Indian food experience then this restaurant should be one to visit. We tried the shrimp, racheado kingfish, pork vindaloo and the chicken cafreal... All recommendations by the owners/ chef and traditional Goan dishes. All were amazing, just like the homemade goodness one can find in their mamas Goan kitchen. Will definitely be visiting the next time we are in town!

  • Sarah N.

Just had the best Goan dinner ever. Out of this world food and fantastic, personable service is what you can expect here. I was personally greeted at the door by the owner, who made sure I was taken care of the whole time I was there. She recommended the pao chorizo and the recheado pomfret. I had both and was so glad I did! The chorizo is on the spicy side, but so delicious that I forgot halfway through eating it. I'm sure they can spice it down if requested. The pomfret was utterly delectable. Paired with the fish curry and rice that come with it, it is truly a great dish. I am going back for more tomorrow...no joke.

I have been in a few Indian resturants and this is a great place. My daughter and I had a great lunch there. I had the coconut curry chicken and she had the jumbo prawns. Both dishes were excellent and we then moved to dessert I had the mango mousse and she had the cookies and cream again both were excellent. We were able to talk with the owner for awhile and she explained several other dishes to us for our next visit. I would highly recommend trying this place if you want great food.

Had a Sunday evening dinner. This looks to be a very solid place with good food and very friendly service. I had the pepper chicken...excellent......others in group tried the pork vindaloo and were well pleased.

Great for kids !! The first Indian place my kids loved. The garlic nan was amazing. The chicken samosas were yummy. I will be catering those ! Bottles of wine were very reasonable . I wish I had room for dessert!

Excellent food. Vegetarian options I tried were the sesame Gobi and the egg curry. Friendly owner. One of the few places you get good "nimbu soda" :)

The staff was friendly, and they obviously take pride in their work. The service was outstanding, and the food was top notch. All the ingredients were obviously fresh, and very high quality. The best Indian food we have ever had!

Based on all the 5 stars and having a free night, my wife and I ventured out for something new. We went on a Sunday and it wasn't crowded. We sat down and immediately felt at home. The owner came over and personally walked us through our selections. We had the chorizo appetizer, pork vindaloo, and chicken carfzel, the one with cilantro. it was our favorite! the food was so well prepared and fresh, and the attentiveness of the owner made us feel like we were eating at her own house. we will definitely be back!!

  • Jennifer L.

This place is kinda...different. The owner and her family are extremely friendly, helping you decipher the menu and any items you may not understand. The food is very good. The restaurant itself could use a facelift, and we were the ONLY table at 5:00 pm on a Saturday night despite the 5 star rating. What's up with that?

  • P S.

Thoroughly impressed by this restaurant. There was a love and passion that was infused in everything we ate. The samosas were made from scratch and the the spices they use are roasted and ground in-house. You can absolutely taste the difference. We had the Chicken Cafrael and the Chicken Xacuti and it was one of the best meals I've had in a long time. The owners were awesome and made sure that we were completely satisfied. Looking forward to our next visit!

Knew this place existed but took me a while to get ready to visit it, its a bit of a drive if you live ITP but decent for a weekend treat. Lots of parking in the mall there and neat ambience. The lady who owns the place is very friendly and approachable. Our party of 5 was seated in one of the booths. We indulged in some hot chai and samosas to start with. Service seemed a bit delayed but we were in no hurry so that worked fine. For dinner we had fish curry, shrimp special and the kori gassy chicken curry. The shrimp curry was a bit too tomato based for my liking but they did say it would be tangy. The fish curries were fab- can't go wrong with that in a Goan place. The kori gassi was my fave though - it is a south indian preparation but the way Goans make it is different and they got it right here so I was pretty pleased with my dinner choice. I was really excited to see that they offered bebinca here - its one of my fave Goan desserts - but it wasn't up to my expectation. I've had it in Goa where each slice has multiple layers (typically 7) and is eaten on its own but here it was a pretty thin serving with a dollop of ice cream and some caramel I guess to make a hearty dish of it but I'd have preferred the plain jane version without all the frills. Either ways, I shall be back again to check out more of their menu, especially the veg dishes that looked good but I didn't have the chance to try. I'd definitely recommend t if you'd like to try more regional Indian food than the usual chicken tikka masala you get in most places.

We tried this restaurant for the first time today and were pleased with our meals. Everything we tried was amazing. What I enjoyed the most was the owners friendliness and hospitality. The owner and her daughter not only cook the food but also serve it. Mother and daughter were courteous, friendly, informative and welcoming. The atmosphere was family friendly and relaxed. We tried two of their desserts and were amazed. The mango mouse was perfect, not too sweet. The multilayer cake was amazing. We will have to go back soon and try some of their sea food dishes. I wish them great success. They are certainly a gem we found in Johns Creek.

  • Chris F.

Now you can come here and get the Indian dishes that you get at other places. .only better, but if you come here and don't try some of the traditional coastal Goan dishes, you're doing yourself a tremendous disservice. From the cordial host/owner, to the food, this place is a gem. Drive quickly, don't get a ticket, but get here as quickly as you can. I don't do five stars easily, but this place won't let you down.

I have been in search of really good Indian food since moving from Richmond, VA. Both my wife and I split the vegetable samosas. They are homemade very fresh and excellent. For our lunch we both ordered the Chicken Tikka Masala Thali. Again everything was fresh and excellent. This was best Tikka Masala I have found in Atlanta. Quit trying to find the Indian buffet. Come support a very well run local family business that serves the freshest Indian food around. For lunch, you should select a Thali and bring an appetite.

This hidden gem is located in John's Creek and is the only truly Goan restaurant I know off, in the South. The owners are Goan and always willing to regale you with stories of their homeland. The entire staff seems to be part of this huge family and they worked tirelessly while my rather demanding appetite ordered dish after dish. Everything was delicious and even though the prices seem high, it's portioned to be shared. If you're a fan of fish, or tasty spicy food, this place is spectacular!

  • Valerie F.

Went for lunch with my husband. The food was delicious, the owner very friendly and she took the time to ask us our likes and dislikes, the spice level etc. Myzenes has some of the best vegetable samosas I've tasted. I ordered the fish Thali and my husband had the pork Thali. Both were outstanding. I even ordered a paalak paneer to go... I highly recommend this place!

  • Shefali D.

Amazing food and a wonderful owner. We had pomphret fish, pork vindaloo, goan fish curry, and chicken cafreal. We tried all the three desserts. Everything was really tasty, and had a flavor of its own. Definitely worth a return visit!

Myzenes is the real deal. If you love Indian food and want to try a different type of Indian cuisine, definitely check out Myzenes. Myzenes specializes in Goan food, which is a combination of Indian and Portugese flavors. Myzenes specializes in different fish dishes, but also has the true (according to the owner) version of Vindalho. Overall, the flavors are unique and delicious. We ordered the Recheado Kingfish and Pork Vindalho and both were incredible. The fish tasted fresh and was coated in an incredible spice mixture. The pork was tender and the vindalho was truly the best I've ever had. Everything was fresh and the flavors were really complex. We will definitely be going back!

  • Anton M.

The food here is amazing. Have tried the king fish, lamb vindalho and chicken tikka and all have been very tasty and of high quality. If you live locally they have affordable lunches during the week. The family that runs this place are very friendly. They made a special slightly less spicy sauce for my two year old who loves this place.

  • Mel D.

Great food. Friendly service. The food here is unlike Indian food in the Atlanta metro. It's good! The cuisine is Goan with some North Indian dishes available in the menu. If it is fish curry you want to try, this is place to try it at. The chicken cafreal, pao choriz and thallis are very good.

Finally an Indian restaurant that serves great Goan food. Definitely needed in Atlanta. Being that I live in Raleigh this is always a regular stop for me when I head back home. The pork vindaloo is fantastic. Not to mention the sausage bread.

We tried all the seafood dishes for dinner. Service was exquisite. Felt like my beloved aunt serving us dinner. Food was exceptional. 44 Five Star ratings completely justified.

  • Banks E.

Highly recommended! My wife and I were skeptical to try because the name is "Indian coastal cuisine" and we aren't big seafood people. Now I'm kicking myself for not trying it sooner as Myzenes has consistently proven to be one of the best restaurants we have ever been to. All entrees are exceptional: vegetarian, chicken, lamb, pork, fish; you can't go wrong.

Yesterday I had lunch here. I have never written reviews of restaurants before but was compelled to sign up for yelp and post a review. The food was excellent and had great spices. The vegetables were fresh. The owner extremely friendly. I strongly recommend this restaurant. I know I'll be going back.

I don't normally write reviews but wanted to here, as deserving. You can listen to the other reviewers here on yelp. I frequent most of the indian resteraunts in duluth, johns creek, decatur area.. Really big fan of both the north and south style cooking.. Iv'e been reallyyy wondering about Goan food and waiting when Goan style food would come into the area at all though. This was a good start. First off the owner is very friendly, gives great service. It is evident about her passion and sincerity in the food and customer service which.. It's just really refreshing when you can tell the person enjoys their job as well as the people adds to the overall experience.. alot of times customer service is not the best at indian resteraunts but really this is some of the best customer service iv'e ever had. So back to the food.Tried the samosa...Veggie and chicken.Which..The samosas are cooked from scratch and deliciouss some of the best iv'e ever had. . Shared alot of food between two ppl. ( I wouldn't recommend getting all this normal portioned food at once unless your crazy like me but lol)... We tried the Mushroom Curry, Shrimp Goan Curry (towards top of the menu not sure the exact names but it's her favorite you can ask) DELICIOUS and unique flavor. The egg omelette curry was also veryyy good. As well as the mushroom curry. Mushroom was good too but I'd recommend the samosas the shrimp curry and the egg omlette over the mushroom though. Just my preference. I'll definatly be back to try more things

Some of the best Indian food I've tasted. I got veggie vindalho and my husband got chicken tikka masala. Both were very good. Food tasted clean and fresh. We'll be coming back again. Next time I'll try a meat dish. Nice staff too. It feels family run.

Delicious Goan food, which is hard to come by in metro Atlanta. Excellent service and great staff. Myzenes is 15 miles from my office, but well worth the trip. My colleagues and I enjoy it and will be back very soon! Thank you for a great experience.

I have been to Myzenes twice this month! Can't get enough if this great food! Tried the Lamb Xacuti and the Jumbo Prawns followed by the Mango Delight. Delicious! Thank you for the great food and great service!

We love Indian food and now we love Myzenes! We found it by the recommendation of our son. The service was great all the way from the warm greeting to the very helpful information about the unique and DELICIOUS dishes. We had a variety of the vegetable offerings and they were all great! Especially enjoyed the Mushroom Xacuti. We were too satisfied to order a dessert, but that will definitately happen when we return very SOON and I hope OFTEN!

If you are not an Indian, you will feel like you are. You will feel like you are eating with your Indian Family. Nice people. The only thing i can say is the food is even better than that. Magnificently different Indian Cuisine with the South Indian Portugese influence. The dishes are similar to the names you see in indian restaurants, but may differ by adding another word. The dishes may not be exactly the way they are in a traditional Indian restaurant. Example is you will see Vindaloo, but the preparation is different. Different is not bad for Myzenes, if fact, for the 4 dishes we had, it was better. I say run here. We celebrated a birthday today for a friend and brought cupcakes that were special to the birthday girl for dessert, and they were very accommodating. Im a lover of this place. Our hostess was our guide and Indian cousin, or at least thats what she made us feel like. If you have a heart appetite I would suggest the very good appetizers as i found the main coarse just enough, and I am a light eater. There will be no doggy bags.

47 reviews and a 5 star rating? After eating here, it's understood. We had the butter chicken, chicken tikka and the prawns. Everything was fantastic! The owners were especially mindful of food allergies that we were contending with. They were very service oriented and very eager to please. What lovely people! We'll definitely be back, overall great experience!

My wife and I had the opportunity to eat here for lunch, and it was wonderful. The owner was eager to educate us on Goan cuisine, and all of it was fabulous. Just waiting for the next opportunity to go back.

Best Indian food! The pao sandwich is like a pork sloppy joe on steroids. It's an app, but would double as a meal. We also had the chicken thalis -- mmmm! Two thumbs up!

  • M C.

I am from Goa and this place has the best Goan food you can get outside of Goa. Try the pork vindaloo with sannas and the chorizo pao (sandwich with goa sausage). The restaurant is relatively new but they are already involved in the community. They donated food to Northview High School's international night; and for the Northview Titan Relays. They will also be having a fish menu for Lent. Marissa.S

Classic coastal food! This is not your traditional pre-made North Indian food. This is Goan food at its best. Owned and operated by a family, they are fantastic to deal with and talk to and make excellent suggestions. BTW - this is great for vegetarians as well...

If you haven't figured it out yet, this is not your typical Indian Restaurant. The cuisine is mainly Goan. It is made by the owners and their family and is delicious. I went on the way home from a vacation with my wife and daughter. It was early so we got extra personal attention from the owner who explained the menu and made excellent recommendations for all if us (per our request). We started with the Pao-Chorizo appetizer. Very tasty! My daughter got the lamb and I the pork vindalho. Both were terrific. My wife thoroughly enjoyed the Tellechari Pepper Chicken. The Paratha bread was thinner than the usual and much more flavorful. We look forward to going back for the Thalis (served with rice, rotund two veggies which change all the time depending on what is fresh at the market and what the owner is in the mood for). If you are new to Indian food or love it but want something a little different, visit Myzene's and put yourself in the good hands if the owners who will make sure you have a terrific experience!

We have been having this craving for Indian coastal cuisine (specifically belongs to a region from Kerala to Goa). Until recently there weren't many good options. One of my friends recommended this place. Had lunch here with my family. We had the best experience in terms of food as well as service. Highly recommend the "fish thali", it is simple but nothing like anything you had before if you had Indian food.. We want to come back again for more mackerel fries.

Wanted to try this consistently five-star rated restaurant, since it is unique to the Atlanta area, featuring the cuisine of Goa in India, which is a fusion of Indian and Portuguese (who ruled Goa for hundreds of years). I love both the characteristic flavors of India and the marvelous seafood to be had in Portugal. My sister and I arrived at their dinner opening, 5PM on Thursday. The owners had not yet returned for the afternoon, but their daughterr Shirley greeted us warmly, took our orders and stepped in to prepare a most memorable dinner for us (a pao chorizo appetizer of homemade Goan pulled sausage in a crusty bun, served with spicy fries, followed by Recheado masala-smothered Kingfish for me and a tasty Pork Vindalho for my sister, served with basmati rice). Shirley apologized that she was not the regular cookf, but she need not have. I can't imagine it being any better, had it been prepared by an experienced chef! While we were dining, one of the owners, Shirley's mom (Maezinha, for whom the restaurant is named), came by to greet us, ask how we liked the food, and gave us some interesing family history that made our dining experience all the more personal and delightful. I can see why this establishment is rated 5 stars by all comers, and I heartily add another. This is some of the best food I have had in metro Atlanta.

It's a little pricy for a meal in terms of quantity but the quality is well worth it. The meal will definitely hit the spot. Atmosphere is great and the service is excellent.

Just simply... wow. We've only eaten here a couple of times (it's about an hour drive for us), but we'll be back. As others have pointed out, the food is excellent, but the service is AMAZING. The owner remembered us from our last visit, including the fact that our 16 month old loves butter chicken; as soon as we walked in, she asked us if that's what he wanted, and then rushed to the back to start fixing it. We shared the Pepper chicken; we loved it, but my wife especially liked the garlic Naan. We're trying to figure out how we can eat there for lunch so we can try their fresh-made Thalli plates (never had one before, but looked exciting).

Having never experienced Goan food before, this was the BEST lunch I have had in a LONG TIME, and I didn't have to drive 45 minutes to get here!!! I LOVE Indian food, and Goan is kind of an indian-portuguese blend of flavors...so incredibly delicious! Myzenes is currently #2 on Yelp's Top 50 places to dine, and being in Johns Creek got me there all the faster. My husband and I walked into to a clean, bright space, and the owner was VERY friendly, asking us if we'd ever dined there before, and explaining the differences, though subtle, between Goan and traditional Indian food. We were super-excited, and listened to ALL of her recommendations, and ordered the. Pao Chorizo, the Goan version of a sloppy Joe. AMAZING, crumbly sausage, and super-hot fries...we just devoured it! Next we ordered the tali plates, pork vindalho for me, and the lamb for my husband...with roti, rice, salad, lentils, black-eyed peas, and some kooky veggie that's kind of a cross between a cucumber and a pepper, but it was truly yummy! We didn't even speak thru the meal because the food was just THAT good! I took an order of Beef samosas to go, and even those were crazy-good eats! I wish I'd asked the owner her name. She gave us tons of her time, was sweet as pie, and seemed genuinely happy to do what she does, which is make AWESOME Goan cuisine! I grabbed a take-out menu, and we will DEFINITELY BE back to experience more from this incredible restaurant. Well-worth the money, friendly, and a place Mom would love. The service was as good as the food, and we felt like part of the family when we left. Yelp, you hit the nail on the head with this place...one of ATLANTA'S best as a whole. A MUST if you're ever looking for some truly great food in Johns Creek.

Despite a somewhat strange and stark interior, and lots of coca-cola signage, this restaurant is something special. Having never tried Goan (so please keep that in mind in this review) and having been disappointed in several new places I'd tried as of late, I came here thanks in part to the mostly positive YELP reviews. And I'm so very glad I did! First of all, they made the BEST mango lassi I've ever had in my life. My husband usually dislikes them because they're too sweet but he loved, loved, loved this one. It was more yogurt tarty smooth with a hint of mango. Perfect! We started out with some samosas. They were crisp, hot and uniquely spiced. I could've eaten a gazillion of them. For the main course I had the lunch portion fish curry and my partner had palak paneer. Both were excellent and had a good amount of heat as requested (for the hubby's meal). My salad side was very lightly dressed and a great way to cool down from the curry. Bite curry. Sip lassi. Nom salad. Repeat. We had no room for dessert but I'll save room next time! The owner, who also provided service, was professional yet so warm and generous with her conversation and even food since she gave us free naan for being first time visitors. The place is extremely clean and the parking is ample. I can't wait to go back!

I would say that I decided to go to this place right away as I saw it on Yelp. Someone who grew up in Maharashtra and waited to go to Goa in vacation would understand that. I certainly came to this place with high expectations only a few of which were met. Food is really Spicy and not in a way that its too hot; it's nice and "Goan" spicy! But its just not tasty and lacks the authenticity by a big margin. I would never take anyone here if I want to introduce them to Goan food. Curries are too watery, Tofu weren't tender, that Gobi appetizer had too much tang and flavor like buffalo sauce - lethal combination. Most of the menu options are ruined after giving it an American touch and wasteful efforts given for customization. I don't know how to make a good Goan dish but Myzenes Indian coastal Cuisine certainly do not. And where is the sol kadhi?

The customer service and the food is awesome here. You can tell that the owner really cares about what comes out. This is my second visit and all of my apps and dishes have been flavorful and spicy just how I like it. You can ask for more our less spice for sure. The menu is a little small but everything seems to be well executed. My favorites include the chili paneer and the thali. The veggies were something I would not order again. Definitely give this place a try.

There's a reason this place has five stars. Decor is non pretentious but inviting. I could frankly care less about the way the place looked though. Best Indian food I've had. Everything was tasty, from our croquettes to the chicken dishes. Owner is a sweetie and knows her stuff. Servers were nice and not suffocating. Wish they served cocktails but you can't win them all. Def going to go back and try other dishes. That paratha bread was sooooo good. I could eat that all day with the tika masala sauce and then just roll my fat butt down the sidewalks of Atlanta. Nommmm!

Like everyone else, I've gotta give this place five stars. The food was excellent. We ordered the pork vindahlo and the lamb xacuti. Both were delicious; I had some textural issues with the sauce on the lamb xacuti, but that might just be me. I'd order the vindahlo again any day of the week. I had a mango lassi as well, which was outstanding. Our appetizer was also quite good-- some sort of sausage on bread, though I can't remember the official name. The best thing about Myzenes, though, is the family that owns it. They were very kind, very present, and very helpful. They clearly take a lot of pride in their food and its origins.

  • Boris Y.

I will go so far as to say all things considered--quality (yet to have anything that is not outstanding), value, uniqueness (so name all the Goan restaurants in a 100 mile radius you know of), this is one of the best restaurants in the history of the Atlanta metro area. You've never been? Don't call yourself a "foodie." Family that runs it seems very nice to top it off.

At the risk of being a tad bit controversial by painting in broad strokes, I have found that Indian restaurants are typically lacking when it comes to good service. To my astonishment, Myzenes Indian Coastal Cuisine has shattered that perception. Zinnia, the matron of the restaurant, is exceptionally kind and conversational. In little time, it became apparent that she was very proud of her cooking and heritage. As well she should. Understand, Myzenes is not your run-of-the-mill Indian restaurant. India's west coast, specifically the state of Goa, was colonized by the Portuguese in the 16th century and held as such until the 20th century. The Indo-Portuguese co-mingling led to a unique fusion of their respective cuisines. Myzenes represents this intriguing Goan cuisine. Zinnia talked up her signature dish, Chicken Cafreal - a signature Goan dish featuring cilantro, green chilies and aromatic spices. Oh, how I wish she had told me BEFORE we had ordered our chicken tikka masala and chicken makani. I will absolutely have to try it on my next visit! Though she reluctantly offers chicken tikka masala (and other typical Indian offerings), Myzenes actually does a better job of those dishes than all of the other Indian restaurants I've been to in the area (so far). Perfectly spicy, creamy, and addicting. My only complaint is that they use store-bought naan, rather than making their own on site. Apparently, they couldn't justify the space consuming and expensive to operate tandoori oven. What I really like about Myzenes is that they make their signature dishes, acquiesce to the desires of their customers, and still manage to enjoy a certain level of creativity with their recipes. That's a tough balancing act, but they do so successfully.

So I've never had Goan food before, and I doubt most people have, but let me just say: it's delicious. Goa is India's smallest state on the country's west coast and it was under Portuguese rule for 450 years. The food reflects that. From my thoroughly enjoyable time at the restaurant, I learned that the state is predominantly Catholic and that Goans celebrate Carnaval. Who knew, right? I went with the pork vindahlo thali, which was tangy and the meat itself so succulent and melt-in-your-mouth good. This was accompanied by a soft piece of roti bread, some rice, lentils, black-eyed peas and a pumpkin-based curry. Mind-blowing. I also tried the pao chorico, which was basically a sandwich with cubes of Goan-style chorizo inside. Even the fries that accompanied that were delicious, crisp and well-salted. Needless to say, I'll be back to Myzenes in the near future. The one thing I don't like is that it's all the way in Suwanee, but perhaps if these rave Yelp reviews attract more patrons, there might be a concerted, community, Goan-food-obsessed effort to open an ITP restaurant. Eugene and Zenia, the owners of Myzenes, are incredibly friendly. Definitely chat them up to learn more about this unique cuisine. I'm really excited to come back for dinner. I was recommended the cilantro chicken dish. Oh, and if you wanna do some Indo-Pak grocery shopping afterwards, there's a market next door. Standby.

Excellent food. This is definitely Goan food - so if you're looking for typical, heavy Indian food - this isn't the place. The curries are light, many of which are made with a coconut milk base. The spicing is flavorful and delicious! We had the sauteed shrimp to start, followed by paneer cafrael, the mushroom xacuti, the shrimp curry (which isn't on the menu - but it was actually my favorite dish!), naan, and my partner had the lamb xacuti. We also had some masala chai tea. Portions sizes were good, but because the curries are so light we ended up ordering more. This is honestly the only reason I didn't give 5 stars. Oh, and because the naan was a bit greasy for my taste - it actually didn't fit in with the rest of their food. Everything was light - but the naan was more like roti. The owner and waitress were both extremely helpful when it came to navigating the menu and about explaining details about how they prepare the food. They were also extremely passionate about their culture and about what makes Goa unique. It was a wonderful experience overall. The food was well spiced, the rice was unlimited, and the price was decent. Next time, I want to go for lunch and order their Thali. This is apparently what they're best known for.

I've never had Goan Indian food before so not knowing what to try off the menu, the owner made it really easy for me and she insisted that I would have to try the jumbo sauteed shrimp in some goan marinated spices. It didn't disappoint as the flavors were very complex (not overly spiced) and went very well with white rice and hot tea. Suwanee is a bit far from Atlanta but if you find yourself in this area north of the city, it's definitely worth stopping by. A wonderful family business that you can tell locals really enjoy.

Myzenes is a coastal Indian restaurant - this mainly means, cuisines of two states along the western coastal line of India. Goa and Kerala. Goa used to be Portugal Colony and because of this, some Goan dishes are eclectic combination of Indian and Portuguese food. And as far as I know, this is the first such Indian restaurant in Atlanta. So you see, I had to find an occasion to try that place. (Trivia : Portuguese explorer, Vasco da Gama(the first explorer from Europe to reach India by sea) has first set foot in a city called 'Calicut' in state of Kerala and from there he went to Goa. And this voyage has paved way for the Portuguese settlers and there by bringing the Portuguese influence to the local cuisine.) So I went to Myzenes for my boyfriend's birthday with a party of 12. I had made reservation with them earlier and when we arrived our table was already setup in a semi-private area near kitchen with 'Happy birthday' banners and decorations. We are usually not the one to ask for such things, but I was happy to see a restaurant go one step further to make the dinner a true celebration. We have learned quickly that the restaurant is run by Zinnia, who was originally from Goa, and her family - husband and kids. Yes, they were all there. Bartender, waiter, host and cooks. Everyone who works there is a Family, literally. We were given the drinks menu and of all that I have tried(sips from my friends drink as well), I loved the 'Colangote sunrise'. There is no dedicated bartender here, so our drinks arrived one after another, rather slowly. But that was fine by us, but if you are in hurry, it's something to note. And for food, it was a simple menu with description of each dish. We mostly ordered Goan specials instead of regular Indian dishes. These are the items we have tried. 1) Vegetable Samosa 2) Sauteed Shrimp 3) Non-veg potato chops with chicken/Lamb 4) Recheado Fish - Pomfret 5) Grilled fish Masala - both Swai Bassa & tilapia 6) Chicken cafrael 7) Pork Vindalho 8) Sorpotel 9) Mushroom Xacuti(vegetarian) 10) Egg drop curry(Vegetarian) 11) Naan & Garlic Naan 12) Sanna We have actually ordered 'Sesame Gobi', 'Sauteed Shrimp' and 'Non-veg potato chops' for appetizers. And we first received Sauteed shrimp - it was spicy and tender. But there was only 5 shrimps in a plate and it wasn't even jumbo shrimp. Don't mistake, we loved it but for $9 a plate I would have expected more. the non-veg chops was basically a cutlet made of ground meat and potato - their take on shepherds pie. For some reason, they couldn't give us 'Sesame Gobi'(Cauliflower) but instead they gave vegetable samosas for everyone in the table on the house. The vegetable samosas were good, but not the best I have had. And for entrees, we had asked them to bring as they finish cooking. All entree also comes with complimentary Goan curry and rice. We universally loved the goan curry, which goes well with rice as well as naans(and Sanna). The pomfret fry, pork vindalho and sanna were my favorite dishes of the night. If you don't like picking bones off the fish, pomfret or king fish dish is not for you but if you take effort to do it, it's totally worth it. Pork Vindalho is made with tangy sauce made with vinegar and chilies and was absolutely delicious. (Trivia : the word Vindalho or vindaloo comes from the Portuguese dish 'Carne de vinha d'alhos', which is a meat dish made with wine and garlic. Wine is usually substituted with vinegar and cooked with chilies for elevating heat) My friends who have ordered grilled bassa and tilapia, said it was definitely one of the best they have had but noted that the size of the filet was kind of small(they couldn't get enough). Then again, with the complimentary rice and goan curry, we were quite full. And one of the most critical ones in our group, our vegetarian friends, couldn't stop talking about how tasty the 'Egg drop curry' was. It ought to be because it was made from same goan curry base. The chicken Cafrael - this is made with cilantro and green chilies based sauce and it was finger licking spicy goodness. Sanna - is a fluffy, moist cake similar to another south-indian dish Idli. Difference is Idli batter is usually made with rice and lentils and sanna batter is made with semolina, coconut and coconut milk instead. Both dishes are steamed to get the porous texture. Sanna goes well with Goan curry and for just $1, this is a steal. I cannot recommend this dish enough - a MUST TRY with goan curry! Zinnia(the mother) and the waiters(son and daughter) were extremely nice to us throughout the meal. She, a former teacher, even shared some of her stories towards the end of meal. And finally, they brought out the birthday cake we had given them earlier. We had forgotten to bring candles but they were prepared for that too. Overall, food was good, excellent service and it was one of a singular experience we have ever had at a restaurant, and I will be going back for more.

I've never had Goan food before so I didn't know what to expect. The owner took the time to explain the menu to us and also chatted with us a bit. The food was really good and fresh. I particularly liked it when I asked for more sauce and the owner mentioned that she had to wait for someone to order the same dish I had because all of their food is made to order...which I really appreciated. Will definitely be back if I'm ever in town again.

Day 2 of exploring Johns Creek/Suwanee area: What can i say, had high expectations with this restaurant as it is rated 5 starts (unicorns, gotta try it) and my fellow yelpers were correct. This place is great. Upon entry i got greeted and sat promptly. Owner is very friendly and was trying to make me feel comfortable which is a plus in my books. Asked me if i had Indian food before and if I had a favorite dish, so we talked for a bit. Came down to my all time fave, Chicken tikka masala, and it sure was delicious. Added a side of naan bread, because, well, i love the sauce, cant leave it behind!! Overall, great local place, definitely authentic, and tucked in. Have lunch here if you are in the area, it wont disappoint!

This is one of THE best Indian food places in Atlanta. Goa is a small, sea-side state on the west coast of India that is arguably one of the most eclectic, free-spirited and fun-nest parts of India. The food at Myzenes is authentically Goan in all those aspects and more. If you enjoy Indian food, but are looking for something beyond the familiar-tasting curries, the food here is exactly what your palate will appreciate. The best part about this place is how authentic the food is, and how warm and homely the environment is. It's run by a food-loving, father-mother-daughter trio that is insanely gifted at the culinary arts, quite evidently. You will most likely be greeted and served by one of them, be sure to ask for their suggestions on what to order. There's a good chance that you won't find the ambience to be quite fine dining-esque, but the service is great, and the owners are very friendly and hospitable. Plus, those flavors on your plate will bring your focus right back to where it matters - the impeccably crafted food. If you're a foodie that likes Indian food, and you happen to live in Atlanta, or are even visiting Atlanta - this place should be at the top of your must-eat-at list. You will not be disappointed. MVP's on the Menu: The Kerala pepper/Tellachery chicken curry (not sure what the exact name is), the Chicken Xacuti, the Ambot Tik Kodi, the freshly made Naans, and the Bebinca, among others. The only bummer is that they've recently stopped offering alcoholic beverages, but that apart, this place is totally worth the drive. And yes, like someone else said in their review, there's a reason this place has five stars!

Great customer service + great food =EXCELLENCE We had three different dishes. We had dishes that consisted of pork, chicken, and fish. I had the fish with the masala which came with a salad. I don't know what was on the salad but it was sooooo good...wish it were bigger. If you like spicy food, this is the place. We tried two different breads...which I thoroughly enjoyed both. Fist time I saw green lemons...they looked like limes.

The service was outstanding and food was incredible. The owner stopped by our table and explained Goan cuisine. I will most certainly become a regular here. I loved the freshness of the food and bold flavors. This is by far one of the most friendliest restaurants I have been to since moving to Atlanta. We ordered the Chicken Cafrael and Lamb Xacuti both incredible dishes for our 1st time here. Myzenes is by far the best Indian restaurant in Atlanta. Fresh food great service a winner in my book!

I give this place 4 stars cause I've only been here once (couple of months ago). The food is so.darn.good. I was a bit skeptical when I went there because it was empty. No customers except for my boyfriend and I (which is usually a red flag for me, but we ended up staying because the owner came out to greet us). She was soo informative of all of the dishes, as she stated that its not like any other regular Indian restaurant, and asked us what we usually like so that she could recommend some dishes. I had this pepper chicken and my boydriend had the pork vindaloo. (I havent had vindaloo since Cafe Bombay) so I was super excited to finally trt it again!! The food was SOOO GOOD. We were so busy eating (it really was THAT good) and the owner came out again because we were "too quiet". Its a far drive for us now that we live up in Hamilton Mill area, but definitely want to go back to try other dishes they have. I was absolutely pleased with the service and my belly was pleased with the yummy food! :) just thinking about it makes my mouth water... :3

Believe the reviews. Stopped in after a convention and they were so welcoming! The food was fantastic! My wife's dish was a little too hot, but the owner offered to add something to reduce the spice level and then she loved it. We have never had a restaurant offer to do that. We will be back!

holy cow! I don't remember when I had sol kadi so good, that it tasted just like I used to remember as a kid!. This restaurant is fantastic, true Goan / Konkani - and I know a little about that, being from Maharashtra... What I appreciate about the food is the homestyle cooking - not too much oil, well roasted and balanced spices (spice does not mean hot!)... the chicken cafreal and goan fish curry were lip smacking! I will be back weekly :)

We're big fans of Indian Cuisine but had never tried Goan influenced Indian cuisine before. We were intrigued by the great ratings here on Yelp and are so glad we went. Goan is Pakistani influenced food that has different spices and flavors than the traditional Indian, especially southern Indian cuisine that we usually eat. Eugene and his wife were so welcoming of us when we arrived it was as much a pleasure eating there for their service as it was the food. We both had to try something unique to the Goan influence rather than the standard Indian cuisine so I went with the Lamb Xacuti and my wife (a vegetarian) went with the Paneer Cafrael. The lamb was well cooked and the curry sauce had a most unique flavor influenced by the poppy seeds and red chilies. It had an underlying heat but not strong as I don't like overly hot spicy foods. This was really well done and the portion size was just perfect. The Paneer Cafrael has a cilantro based sauce which, while that is not one of my favorite herbs, this was extremely tasty in this sauce. For dessert we went with the Serradur, a version of cookies and cream. One will feed two easily as a perfect ending to the meal. While chatting with Eugene during the meal, he gave me the great idea to make an omelette with the left over lamb. I did the next day and it was delicious. Highly recommend Myzenes both for the food and the service.

Awesome authentic Goan food outside of Goa - Recheado fish (pomfret) and Ambot Tik Kodi (Mackerel) tasted like eating in Goa. Great customer service. Speak to the owner for different fish options. Finished of a great meal with Bibinca. The good brought back great memories.

Sample of one two person sitting... I'll update as we will be back for sure. I may be too harsh right now as their food was delicious. Look, hopefully, for an upgrade to five stars soon. My wife and I dined here and had a small sample of their food. It was all excellent and deliciously cooked. I had the fish curry (can't remember the name) and my wife had chicken in a roasted coconut sauce: they were both very tasty. They allow you to select the level of spices so if you're reticent about going because you don't like too much spice then you can choose from mild to spicy (even no spice I'd think). The appetizers were great - the samosas are made by the proprietors; who are also very pleasant people (and from Goa - the theme of the restaurant). We had no room for desert. We will definitely be back, and soon. We've passed this restaurant since it opened but for some reason never went - our loss. I've already picked out a few dishes I'm going to try next.

The food was delicious and the service exceptional. We started with the pao chorizo. The entrees were chicken cafrael, spicy jumbo prawns, kori gassi, and lamb xacuti. For bread, we had garlic naan and paratha. And finished with a bebinca dessert. All of which were amazing. So much food is monochromatic. Eating here was eating rainbows. I could drink the xacuti sauce for breakfast. But most importantly, Zinnia, the owner, was a most gracious hostess. Instead of leaving us alone, she became our family friend. She stayed tableside, sharing her personal story. She judged ours, and other table's, reaction to their appetizers to determine their spice/heat taste. Frankly, it's nice to be served. I go out to eat not just for the food, but also so I don't have to cook for myself. My home cooked meals are damned good but someone has to do dishes. Zinnia made it clear that she was immediately available to take care of us. Which is nice. Like, really nice. All of the long reviews on here extolling the virtues of this restaurant are true.

Good authentic food. Friendly service. $$/4. Okay to Decor and interior. Had two lunch specials sampling of everything with soup. The lamb was good the chicken was tender everything was spiced perfectly. Delicious rice. The spinach dish was very good as well. Great Mango Lassie as well. Slight hiccup in the order but The friendly owner made up for it by making a fresh batch of The item I actually ordered. They even have a kids menu so will have to bring the kids when we come next time. All-around everything was delicious and a very good experience of Goa cuisine she's a mixture of Indian and Portuguese on the western shore of India Artistry in the food. Would recommend and definitely will go back

So delicious you must dine here! The owner has such a passion for what she does and it shows in every bite! If you enjoy flavorful ethnic food treat yourself! I wish this place had higher traffic flow. Hopefully business will pick up as word spreads. This place was amazing, and I'll definitely go back. The food eat excellent. Better than other Indian food I've had anywhere. I tried 4 different dishes and they were all excellent. I would recommend them, but I can't remember what they are called. The service was also incredible. The owners were so cordial and helpful, explaining everything on the menu and making sure we always had enough rice. Lastly, the meal was a great deal for what we got. Get the Mango Lassi to top your meal off or to cut some of the spice... It's amazing!

Ate here just to try a new rest close to home we like to support new and local rest in our neighborhood . The food was gross. 80% of the meal is from the can. The veggies are processed from the can put onto a metal eating tray (no plate) i felt like i was eating at the prison cafeteria. Some sauces and the bread was ok. I feel bad for the owners as they try and seem nice people but that won't cut it. Another rest that won't make it past year 1. Sorry to say so

What a treat!! We loved how the menu was specialized (Goan) and different from what you typically see. Special thanks to the owner/chef, who is happy to explain what each item is and how it's prepared. The food was beyond delicious! Everything is made from scratch and from fresh ingredients. We loved the chance to try new dishes and flavors, including the variety of breads. If we lived closer we'd easily be there every week.

This is a wonderful place to dine. We enjoyed the.excellent food and service. There is a good variety of traditional Indian as well as coastal (very distinctive styles) of menu items. The service was warm and inviting. We are fortunate to have such a quality restaurant here in Atlanta. Try the garlic nan, it is wonderful!
