Here's the thing about Nikko: you MUST know what to order in order to enjoy your meal. If you like sushi, and you enjoy spicey, get Nikko Special Spicy Tuna. It is tuna tartar in a hot mayo sauce, and words cannot do justice to the goodness. Try the spider roll, it, too, is very good. Entree: Yakiniku steak. Period. Do not fall for any other menu tricks. Order it medium rare. Slather the rice in the Nikko shrimp sauce. THE NIKKO SHRIMP SAUCE IS MAGIC IN A BOTTLE. Rub it, and a genie pops out. Honest, you should try it. Avoid any chicken dish. They suck beyond belief.

Nikkos took my order over the phone. Big plus for a working person who wants a break from the lunchbox routine. The food was average, unfortunately. I ordered the steak and shrimp with fried rice and zucchini and onions. The shrimp were very fresh, very firm, and tasted great. The zucchini and onions were okay. Needed a bit more sesame oil and/or seeds. The fried rice tasted scorched and wasn't seasoned well. The steak was average. I had a couple of pieces of pure undercooked fat which is a huge no-no in my book. The fat tasted a bit rancid as if the meat had been sitting out in the open at room temperature for too long. A dangerous no-no in anyone's book. The steak was also not seasoned well. The sweet tea was very fresh and very sweet. The server was very polite and thanked me for visiting. The dining room area was very clean as was what I could see of the preparation areas. In a tough decision, I would not recommend this entree I had. I do plan on trying some other dishes, but this one was not worth $12+. Will be trying Shogun Hibachi Grill & Sushi Bar soon.

Food quality went down hill. The rice and steak is not even good anymore. I've been a fan since I moved here for college 2 years ago, but today I found my new place for Steak and Shrimp rice bowl: Seasons of Japan! Byebye Nikko! Sorry you failed.

Made only one visit here, and ate only sushi and sashimi, so there are definitely limits to these comments. That aside, Nikko proved underwhelming on the most important part of a restaurant's duty: serving good food. The preparation was modestly accomplished, the chef's sushi and sashimi work lacked finesse, and the yellowtail didn't taste quite right. The tuna was sliced wrong, and so were the cucumbers in the cucumber roll. The salmon sashimi was fatty and delicious, however. The miso soup, not too salty, was pretty good. The service was fine, the atmosphere not very appealing (a large room with picture windows; sort of like an office in a strip mall, which is what it most closely resembles). Quite reasonably priced: cucumber roll was $2.99, spicy tuna roll $3.95. Nigiri sushi (one piece per order) was $2.25 for yellowtail, eel $2, white fish $1.95. We didn't have a lot of confidence of the entire list after our experience, however. We didn't sample the cooked dishes, of which there are many of the usual sorts found in sushi/steak restaurants at average prices. In sum, we'd have to be pretty desperate to eat some raw fish to return here.

Since Statesboro is lacking in Sushi options, this is probably the best you can get in the area. The service is pretty good. The waiters are attentive and we always get our food pretty quickly. They recently renovated the restaurant. It looks like the 80's threw up all over it, but their new rolls are WAY better than before. All in all it's okay at best. If this place was in Savannah I honestly would only give it 1 star. But since the competition is slim, it seems pretty decent in comparison to all the other options.

This place is ok. There's not too many options for "sushi" in the boro though. The main reason I gave them 3 stars was because of their Nikko sauce. Veerrrry good. Too bad you have to put in on everything to make it taste better. I even put some in my sweet tea, not a good idea
