In town for a CrossFit competition on GSU Game Day... Waited less than ten minutes for a table, waitress was friendly, and our order was ready super fast, especially considering the restaurant and parking lot were packed! My sweet potato fries were a little cold compared to hubby's fresh seasoned fries, but they were delicious and I was too hungry to complain. Impressed with the food and service. We will stop back by if we're in the area!

Well, this is billed as "Soul Food," but the abundance of the staff would only suggest a college pub-grub place. That said, the food really was A-OK and at a decent price for lunch. I just wanted something simple, so I got the BLT on wheat and let me tell you, they put the B in BLT, but the T was wafer thin and really practically provided no taste because it was so thin and small. However, the Bacon was in full force...and that's really why you get a BLT anyway, right? The tomato situation was probably a one off thing. I got the fried okra as my side and it was hot, crispy, and quite good. All this came with an iced tea for just under $8....good deal!! My husband got the shrimp and grits, which also included sausage. I tasted it and it was A-OK, nothing spectacular, but serviceable. The shrimp were clearly industrial frozen kind, which was to be expected here, but the sausage helped round out the flavor that the shrimp could never aspire to give. Also, even though it's a college hang-out, the music and TVs were not crazy blaring. Thank you for that!

Was in Statesboro for a tour of Georgia Southern with my daughter. Very good. Excellent service and cute decor. Had crab balls for an app. They were really good. My daughter ordered the burger and it was perfectly prepared, hot and tasty! Chicken salad was okay. Very friendly staff. Looks like a fun place for the kids to hang out and have a bite to eat!

I don't understand the appeal of this place. Perhaps it's good for drinks and the bar scene, but the food is average and the service is pretty slow. It's a dive and looks a bit dirty/old. Food is served in those plastic baskets with paper. The baskets look like they haven't been cleaned in a while. You can frequently see their rubbish area out back when you drive by which makes the place even less appealing. Tried their food twice. First time I ordered shrimp and grits; I had a sandwich the second time. I can make better at home, so I won't be back. On the upside, beer is cheap and they often have happy hour specials. Maybe I would like it if I were an undergrad.

Attempted to dine at Gnats Landing with 5 of my family members. We sat for 18 minutes without anyone coming to take a drink order or to greet us. Others were seated after us and received drinks and ordered meals. We left! Upon leaving NO ONE asked if everything was alright or inquired about why we were leaving!

Love this place! But then again I am partial to anyplace that has two full days of happy hour! I'm addicted to their wings and shrimp and grits! Can't beat a pitcher and an evening on the porch with friends at gnats! Great mixture of young and old at the bar and always somebody there to keep things interesting on the people watching side of things! They even have different nights like Trivia and karaoke and even tends to be pretty packed during the summer!

NOT a place to for a quiet meal in the late afternoon or evening....or with kids.... Lots of rowdy drinking going on when I've been there...which is why I stopped going there at all....especially considering the food had never been better than just OK!!

Seafood lovers beware - I got food poisoning here about a year ago from undercooked shrimp. That aside, I've come before and since that incident with no problems whatsoever (I doubt the same cook is still around being that this is a college town and the turnover around here is pretty high). Just don't be afraid to send something back if your food doesn't seem quite right. Their drink specials are always on point - and an excellent value. Their fried pickles are particularly noteworthy (and delicious). The vibe inside is dive-y. It caters to a mixed crowd of college students and local adults. The outdoor seating is usually almost exclusively students, however. Its close proximity to the college makes it a great choice for a drink and a meal. Unlike any of the bars at the plaza, this place actually serves delicious food, and is pretty similar to GATA's but with an admittedly less outstanding view.

Read a few reviews thought it was worth a try. Well I'm not sure I will be back. The selection is good and the decor is alright. We were excited because they have one of our favorite appetizers, fried pickles. They looked good when they arrived, but they had too much batter for the thickness of the chip and they were very salty. The ranch dip that they came with was runny and not very good. My 8 year old loved his grilled cheese, but the rest of the entrees were unremarkable. The saving grace and the reason that I rated them 3 stars is the service was very good. It appears that they run regular happy hour specials and the deals were pretty good. We did not order from the bar.

This is truly a hole in the wall. The food is absolutely delicious. The fried shrimp, oysters, crab balls, nachos, you name it! Everything is preparing to perfection. Happy Hours allows for the best deals on the food and everything is practically half off. Service is quick and friendly. Their bar is pretty stellar as well. Me and my friends love to go on Thursday nights and sit outdoors. Order a pitcher, eat shrimp, and socialize with other patrons.

Have always had good service with friendly wait staff who know what they are doing. Happy hour is the time to go. 5-7 Tuesday thru Saturday and all day Sunday/Monday. Food is exceptional to be a bar. Decent selection of alcohol and reasonably priced.

For how dark and, at times, 'divey' this place feels, it's food is surprisingly good. Try the shrimp and grits or the salmon, both are delicious. Their nachos and wings are also really good and priced well for how much you get. Drink specials are pretty good too, great place to hang out with friends and watch the game. To top it off they usually have good bands and a really nice patio area. No one thing stands out as excellent, but all together, they make up my favorite bar/grill in the 'boro.

Excellent food, reasonably priced and great, friendly service. Recommend the onion pie dip and the grouper fingers.

Uninspired bar food, which would be fine if it were executed well. Fair to middlin'

This is my favorite restaurant! I've tried a variety of things on the menu and never have I ordered something I didn't like. My favorite is the oyster po boy. I ordered this once and got some shell pieces though, second time I ordered it didn't have any. I have also had the chips and salsa, vidalia sweet onion pie, turkey bacon and ranch wrap, buffalo chicken sandwich, and crab cake sandwich. I often build my own burger too. I usually ask for it to be cooked medium and get a burger closer to being done, but still delicious. The fries are great! It's all good! Unfortunately I cannot give 5 stars because of the hit or miss service. Half the time I go I get a GREAT server. Half the time they leave me frustrated. At Gnat's you must explicitly express the fact that you want your appetizer before the rest of your food. I love going for the $7 lunch menu (not available on GSU home football game days fyi) which comes with a side and a drink! Gnat's often has live entertainment too and a cool patio to eat on. Full bar as well.

Gnats has one of the best happy hours in the boro. Their trivia is especially fun. The guy that does it makes it really fun. Drink prices are good, and service is decent. At nights it is really chill and calm. The only downside is the menu could use a little more variety.
