I appreciated that the manager reached out to me in response to my review. We were sent a gift card to try out the restaurant again, however, my opinion has not changed very much. We arrived this morning with a 10 minute wait, no big deal. After we were seated, we were sitting for 15 minutes before anyone came to our table to even get us a glass of water. It must have been a miscommunication, because our server, Sindy, rushed over to get our order after someone gave us water. She was so sweet and very friendly. We ordered our food, I order a juice with no ice, but it came with ice, not a huge deal, it was delicious, but still something the customer asked for that did not happen. We noticed that a table that was seated after us had already received their food, and we waited another 20 minutes for our food. That's a pretty big ticket time for breakfast items. I ordered the breakfast tacos, the presentation was nice, but the tortillas were very tough, almost stale. My BF ordered the trifecta and he ordered his eggs over medium. His dish was placed in front of him and the egg was already broken and the yolk running all over the plate. That is very strictly against health regulations in GA and I was pretty disappointed that the kitchen would allow an egg dish to leave the expo area in that condition. Other than that, the food was ok, slightly better than the last visit. Another thing that bothered me: there were several empty tables around us, 1/2 were set and the other 1/2 were dirty, and there was a HUGE line up front with a very long wait. Since we sat down the dining area was pretty unoccupied, but there was a big wait. The servers that were bussing seemed to be moving at a snails pace, no one was in a huge hurry. It just all seemed incredibly inefficient. The timing of the seating, ordering and ticket times really need to be more monitored. Also once we got our check and went to pay at the front, it was incredibly hectic and confusing trying to figure out who is and is not in line to pay. I love the healthy options on the menu and the location, but the execution is not on point. There needs to be a hostess monitoring the host station, actual bussers quickly clearing off tables and a manager overseeing every single plate that leaves the kitchen and communication between all three levels of service. It clearly is not happening and it is affecting the customer experience. I'm not going to say we'll never be back, but this certainly will not be our regular spot anymore.

After a past poor experience and review, First Watch asked me back and mailed me a $20 gift card. My overall perception hasn't change much, however I did receive better service. We asked for first available with preference of the patio and we got the patio which was nice. But they had up the plastic so we couldn't fully enjoy the outdoors. They have a great healthy menu for those trying to enjoy breakfast foods on a diet. I got the power wrap which was good but small. This place gives off a very loud diner like feel. They do not serve alcohol.

My family and I have been here on many occasions and more often than not there is some sort of problem. It got to the point where I just expected something to be wrong...either items missing from our order, eggs cooked wrong, waiting forever to be greeted at the table...so now we just go somewhere else. I feel like ever since the restaurant changed from J. Christopher's they have been trying to figure out how to run a breakfast/brunch service and sadly they still don't have it right. I mean how can they be a breakfast place and not cook poached eggs properly?? When I ordered a Benedict my egg yolks we solid, when I told my waiter he was like so do you want new eggs...um yeah...and when they came out a second time the yolks were right but there were absolutely no whites.

This place has really taken a dive. We moved to the area and used to frequent this place once a week. As the quality started to wane we would go less often. Today after not going here for the last couple of months we decided to try it out again. Oh what a mistake! The breakfast entrees took 40 minutes to come out and the restaurant was less than a third full. The temperature of my wife's omelette was warm to cold and my omelette was so overcooked that the entire inside of the omelette was brown and the edges all crusted. We asked the waitress what happened and she said that the cooks in the kitchen were new. One would expect these cooks to be properly trained and for there to be supervision to ensure that the meals are being properly prepared. Also the wait staff hardly ever walked the floor and instead congregated in the corner of the restaurant near the kitchen. To ask our waitress for cream for the coffee and straws for our drinks, I had to get up after waiting for someone to come by for 15 minutes and needed to walk across the restaurant to ask. It really appears that there is a serious lack of management at this restaurant now. It is very disappointing to see the deterioration that has occurred here over the past year. This place is less than a mile from our new home and it is a shame that we can no longer look forward to eating here due to how bad it has become.

Waited for 10 minutes without getting a waiter. Had to talk to manager. Waited 45 minutes for an omelette to be made. Came out cold and had to send it back. Awful.

Ok so weve never been here before. We used to come when this was j.christophers, which was yummy. This place is a little more expensive than j.christophers but the food presentation is nicer and they taste just as good. They offer organic options on the menu which is a plus in my book. The multi grain pancakes taste just as good as regular pancakes. There coffee is really good too. Awesome service too! We will be back.

Service was great, had omlette and fruit. Coffee was very good, the iced coffee is fantastic! Grits were the best I've had. Nice brunch experience!

Came here for breakfast with the in-laws and will definitely return. I had a double stack of blueberry granola pancakes, which was delicious and a HUGE portion! Everyone else seemed to enjoy their meals. Coffee was fresh, plentiful and very good. We sat on the patio, which was very pleasant. Service was fast and friendly. I really liked the atmosphere overall, but maybe it does feel a tad bit like a corporate chain.

Absolutely delicious food! The first time I visited this place I took my mom and dad to meet up with my friend for Sunday brunch. We all had breakfast and it was terrific. After that each time we went it was for breakfast until one day my mom and I were out and about and we stopped and found out they also have yummy sandwiches and salads. My favorite is the Pecan Dijon salad - it really is to die for!! They are only open until around 2:00-2:30 in the afternoon, but it's great to grab something on a Saturday or Sunday late morning / early afternoon!

Alrighty we went back and everything was good! Again we were seated fairly quickly which was nice, and we were seated at a normal table instead of the bar tables up front. It was nice to have a different experience here. I ordered the morning glory juice this time, it was excellent! They even gave be a to go cup for it when I left. I also ordered a BLT and it was very good. My husbands sandwich was equally delicious. Everything was goo don this visit, it just didn't knock our socks off. We will be back because it is close and very good, but it isnt the best breakfast I have ever had. However, it is an awesome spot if you have picky eaters. They have A LOT of options and thats great with a group.

Very good for brunch! I got the biscuits with sausage gravy--you will be full for days. The price is right for the amount that you get. I didn't quite like the potatoes--they weren't crispy enough for me, but they were well seasoned and mixed with onions. The staff was ridiculously friendly! I felt like I was being treated to a meal cooked by my family. Service and food get an A+

My preferred chain breakfast/brunch spot and this location is really convenient on those lazy weekend mornings :) Super friendly service and a healthier menu than others (Another Broken Egg, IHOP, WH, Cracker Barrel). Love their new fresh juices - I've tried them all - watermelon, kale, carrot. They also have a great selection of weekly/seasonal specials. Only reason I didn't give them 5 stars is that every single time I order fruit with my meal it is not up to par. Shriveled grapes, old melon, pineapple cut too close to the rind, etc.

Great food, HORRIBLE dining room management and mediocre service. The first time we went we waited 35 minutes. We expected it because there were a lot of people in the waiting area. We were told it would be 25 minutes. When we were finally seated we were surprised to see two empty tables and two other tables that had not been cleared. Those tables sat for ten minutes. The waiting area was still full of people. This was a recurring theme throughout our meal. The tables took a long time to clear. Once they were cleared they would sit empty for a while before new guests were seated. You're costing yourself money. We ordered. The server was nice but we barely saw her once our order was placed. She walked by plenty of times but didn't acknowledge us. One of the other servers FINALLY brought our food. The next time we had direct contact with our original server was when she dropped the check. Today we decided to give them another chance. As we approached we noticed two empty tables on the patio, a handful of people waiting and at least three open tables inside. We asked for a table for two and they told us it would be 15-20 minutes. No thanks. We went to Jack's New Yorker Deli and were seated with food within First Watches 20 minute wait time. Skip this place until they get their s together. Go to Jack's.

Very good Ordered the Trifecta with a Belgian Waffle and Bacon. Waffle was tasty but cool and soggy. Bacon was crisp and flavorful. The table (inside) was sticky to the touch, like a chain diner. Staff was friendly.

J Christophers was awesome and now so First Watch. They even have one of the same servers from previously and she's awesome. Just the right amount of sass to go with her extensive knowledge of the menu and what's best each time I visit. I love how she tells me honestly what's best on the menu today without regard for anything but my best interests. I think her name is Melissa in case you like a good server to go with good food. The food is organic and prepared fresh every meal so not only is it better for me, but tastes way better than some regular old chain restaurant. Prices aren't bad for what you get. It's served quickly enough for you too. The decor isn't anything to write home about, but everything else makes up for that., and it's clean. Oh and they have an awesome outdoor seating section too! Great spot to eat.

This is a great spot for breakfast/brunch and I've never had to wait long for a table. Their omelets are nice and fluffy, and I love how you can opt for a mixed green salad instead of potatoes, etc. as a side item. There are lots of healthy options here but if you'd rather not, there's always the belgian waffle!

First Watch is a breakfast and brunch restaurant that opened early 2013 in the Ivy Walk shopping center (same shopping center as Muss & Turner's and South City Kitchen Vinings) at the corner of Atlanta Rd. and Cumberland Pkwy. in Smyrna. It replaced J. Christopher's. This is a chain with over 100 locations nationwide including about five locations in metro Atlanta. First Watch is only open from 7am-2pm daily. This location, next door to Little Azio, is clean, comfortable, and casual. The restaurant has plenty of seating which includes an enclosed outdoor patio. Reservations are not accepted. It's first-come, first-served, though you may want to give them a heads up if you have a large party. Free Wi-Fi is available. The restaurant serves traditional American breakfast items like eggs, bacon, sausage, and biscuits and gravy. They also offer a variety of omelets, egg-centric plates (e.g. eggs Benedict, egg-filled crepes), pancakes, waffles, French toast, and healthy stuff like quinoa bowls, organic yogurt, oatmeal, granola, and dishes made with egg whites or cholesterol and fat-free eggs. Lunch items include soups, salads, and sandwiches. There are seasonal specials too. Most entrees are priced just under $10 each. The eggs are cage-free and the chicken, all-natural. If you can't decide what to order, try one of the highlighted menu items. Those are the restaurant's specialties. I've sampled a few. They include: Parma Hash - two eggs (any style), atop a hash of seasoned potatoes, Italian sausage, roasted Crimini mushrooms, onions, tomatoes, melted Parmesan, mozzarella, and fresh herbs Market Hash - two eggs (any style), atop a hash of seasoned potatoes, roasted Crimini mushrooms, zucchini, onions, red bell peppers, spinach, melted mozzarella, and herbed goat cheese Pesto Chicken Quinoa Bowl - quinoa mixed with kale, shredded carrots, roasted tomatoes, lemon chicken breast, basil pesto sauce, feta crumbles, and fresh herbs The menu doesn't mention that the hash entrees also come with a toasted English muffin, sliced in half and buttered, and a small bowl of fruit (pineapple, green cantaloupe, purple grapes). The hash entrees are dense, hearty, and filling, particularly the Parma Hash with its savory chunks of Italian sausage. The hash entrees are brought fresh and hot out of the kitchen, steaming with melted cheese and all. The melted cheese over the chopped and roasted potatoes is indeed tasty. However, I've found the hash to generally be a little salty and oily. The quinoa bowls come packed with a generous portion of nutritious quinoa and sliced, tender chicken breast. There's a bit too much sauce for my liking, but overall, the quinoa bowls are a satisfying and relatively healthy alternative. I've also tried a couple different pancakes. The pancakes are multigrain and come in about 10 different flavors such as chocolate chip, banana granola crunch, wheat germ, and cranberry nut. I've had the blueberry and the lemon ricotta. The pancakes are nice and big (wide). The blueberry pancake is OK. Not a whole lot of blueberries, but it's fine. The lemon ricotta was a seasonal special. Ricotta cheese was added to the pancake batter and the pancakes were served with strawberries and a lemon curd. I wasn't a huge fan of this pancake because the lemon curd was slightly bitter. Simple presentation on all dishes. Service is great. The servers are friendly and knowledgeable of the menu. Dishes come out from the kitchen in a reasonable amount of time. When you're ready to pay, just take your ticket to the register. Parking can get cramped in the shopping center, but most of the time, it's not a problem.

Absolutely awesome! God, I adore this place! What I love is the real wait staff, real hostess, real napkins, real silverware, real plates and real food!! Returning here is always nice! Every staffer is so courteous and helpful regardless if they are assigned to your table! Love that! The menu has an amazing assortment of delicacies that I want to try them all! This time my Dad tried the Tomato-Basil soup and again loved it! I decided to try the Fruit Crepé. Oh so good!! Exactly what I was looking for and so beautifully presented!! Presentation is 90% of the meal!! See my picture because this dish is so pretty! Delish too!! I also love getting coffee to go after the meal! Taking away a little sunshine really helps to smooth out the day! Thank you First Watch for easing me into the hectic Atlanta day!! If you have not been to First Watch, GO!! Try as many different items as you can. You will never be disappointed!

First Watch is great! The monte Cristo sandwich and the bacon and cheese pancakes are excellent! The main downfall about this place is the parking. Unfortunately there are two or three other great restaurants in the same plaza as First Watch so it's really tough to find a parking spot on the weekend. My wife and I try to visit every Sunday after church but more times than not, we circle the lot for fifteen mins before giving up and going somewhere else. It's worth a try because the food is good and the servers are friendly. It's a much more casual and laid back spot than its next door neighbor, South City Kitchen. You're more likely to see more families with kids here. But just dont try it on a weekend during the brunch rush or you'll end up leaving hungry lol.

Party of 3 for Sunday brunch. About a 45 min wait and I overheard the hostess say they paused seating because the kitchen was backed up. Food was fine. Not bad. Not great. The maple syrup tasted like the real deal though and I liked that. Service comparable to IHOP. Quick. Friendly enough. A happier staff would make a big difference. Always comes down to leadership.

We stopped here looking for J. Christopher's and it looks like that location bit the dust and First Watch moved in. We were impressed by the food mostly. The service was good but not excellent but then again the place was slammed when we ate there. I'm not going to drop a seven paragraph review of breakfast food, c'mon. The food was fresh and delicious, everything I saw looked good.

I met a few of my girlfriends here for brunch. The service was excellent and the food what's good. The portions are insanely large... So be prepared to take some home. I think the prices for the area are about average. The only complaint I have is the parking issue. They need valet... On the weekends so I'm told it is extremely overcrowded. It took me 15 minutes to park. Otherwise an all around great experience. The restaurant was clean, relatively quiet, and a great place to enjoy good food and friends. I would certainly go back just maybe not on the weekend. They also had a lot of healthy choices for people with different dietary needs, ie low carbs, vegetarian etc.

I absolutely hate to have to write this review because I have enjoyed innumerable dining experiences here. On April 9, 2015 I went in for a late lunch. After being seated and served our drinks I noticed a roach crawling on the wall next to me. In an effort to be discreet I beckoned for the gentleman by the register to summon the manager for me. I didn't even mention it to my server bc I figured that ultimately it's a situation that a manager could and should handle. There was a couple dining directly behind me and I was careful to not alarm them either. After about a 8 minute wait, the manager on duty, Artemus, emerged and I expressed my concern. He very nonchalantly said "so, what?! You wanna move to another table?" I politely smiled and obliged. Packing up our things and maneuvering my toddler to the next table he stood there and watched (never even attempting to assist or apologizing for the mishap). He had another gentleman come over and sweep under the table while saying he doesn't see what I'm talking about. Jeannie my server was very nice and accommodating. I decided to take my order to go and just have our juice that was already served. After asking for the check, I witnessed an exchange between my server and the mgr which I assumed was in regards to the roach that joined us by the table. The check emerged with a 20% deduction from one item. I smiled. Paid the bill. Left a 20% tip in cash for my server; after all, it's not her fault. The gentleman that rang up the bill asked how everything was and I said it would've been fine had I not had a rodent join me, he responded "oh, you saw the rat too?" Puzzled, I left. I checked with the department of health and saw that they recently had an inspection (not even 30 days prior) and were given a 96/97 rating. So I figured it was an 'off' day. Either way, feeling as though the situation was very poorly handled I contacted their corporate office who promised me a call back. I received one the next day from the Regional Mgr Kelly Clark, who apologized, assured me that pest control came out to the property and offered me a gift card. I respectfully refused the offer as I don't foresee myself dining there in future and don't want to be obligated to. He was shocked to hear that I was charged and offered to refund my meal. 12 days after giving him my credit card information via phone, this refund is yet to be seen. I really wanted to say that I was at least happy with the resolution since I can't change that the problem occurred, but at this point I'm left with no choice but to believe that the behavior displayed by the manager on duty that day is echoed throughout the entire organization.

This place sucks! The food is okay but their system sucks. You can't even call ahead to have your name put on the list. They like making people wait. They don't respects people's time. Better go to Flying Biscuit, at least you can call ahead there.

We had the opportunity to visit FW on a slow Tuesday morning. We were seated on the patio and greeted quickly. As usual, my husband who is the Shrimp and Grits connoisseur of Georgia ordered just that dish from FW. He was pleased to see that the dish came with nice sized shrimp and bits of sausage and tomatoes. I ordered the Tri-Fecta, choosing the HUGE blueberry pancake. Our server gave us attentive service, keeping our coffee hot and our water glasses refilled. We will return.

We loved this place! It's your "typical" breakfast chain but with lots of tasty foods that set them apart from the rest. If you came here when it was J. Christopher's then you know that they are very similar in style. I had the Floridian French Toast and it was delicious. The fruit on top was fresh and refreshing. The french toast was made with wheat germ so it added an additional dose of healthiness to it. Kayton had the Works Omelet and he thought it was very good. It had alot of meat in it and was very filling...but not so much that it would weigh you down for the rest of the afternoon. We both liked that they leave a pitcher of coffee on the table so we can refill as often as we'd like. The servers and checkout staff were very nice and friendly. We were there on a Sunday morning right before 11am and the wait was about 15 minutes. Not bad at all. They also have a community table that is first come, first serve if you don't care who you are sitting next to. Will definitely put this place in rotation!

My boyfriend and I came in around 10:30am and were promptly seated. I was almost certain we were in for a delicious meal and enjoyable experience -- unfortunately, I was only half right. Our server was very nice and polite. I ordered the Eggs Benedict Florentine (spinach and tomatoes instead of the traditional ham), and my boyfriend ordered the Benny's Benedict (biscuits, poached egg, and turkey gravy). The food arrived within 10 minutes of ordering. The first thing I noticed was the "hollandaise" sauce. The reason I use quotations is because I'm not really sure what it was. It was orange, gelatinous, and tasted nothing like hollandaise. In fact, it didn't really taste like much of anything. The potatoes were my saving grace, but even those didn't have any flavor at all. The plate was a bit too small for the meal, too, so it was a struggle keeping everything from falling off the side with each bite. Overall, the entire meal was lackluster and disappointing. However, my boyfriend enjoyed his Benny Benedict and I thought it was pretty good, too. I'm kinda sad that I wasted the time and money coming here, but at least now I can cross this place off my list.

This is my number one neighborhood breakfast place whenever I'm visiting my family in Atlanta. Great food, great atmosphere, friendly and attentive staff. SETTING: Open, airy with lots of natural light and outdoor patio seating available. The space was renovated after j. Christopher's moved out a few years ago, and they retained the same general feel, however lightened the color scheme a little bit. FOOD: Plenty of healthy choices on the menu, both for breakfast and lunch, like their Tri-athlete omelette or quinoa chicken bowl. However, they don't neglect breakfast classics like a good eggs Benedict or French toast. Substitutions are never a problem, and whatever you need just ask. SERVICE: Everyone is extremely friendly and treats those who dine there regularly as part of the family. Service is courteous, prompt, and always attentive.

I was pleasantly surprised by First Watch. I haven't heard much about it, and am glad I decided to give it a try. The food was great, albeit a bit pricey, but the service could use some improvements. Note: if you sign up for their email program, you get a BOGO Entree coupon! We came in on a Sunday morning after realizing the fridge wasn't properly stocked for an in-home breakfast. We waited maybe 10 minutes before getting seated. I also need to comment on the disorganization of the host stand. It's also used as the payment stand for people on their way out, and the line gets long quickly and wraps around the host side of the station. When we arrived, we thought that was the payment only station, and had a moment of "Uhhh...?" before a staff member added us to the list. I think they need to add signs or something to make it easier to see what's going on. They should also consider adding a coffee bar to entertain people while they wait for a table. The service is why I have to knock this review down to 3 stars instead of 4-5. We sat at our table for a good 10 minutes before our server stopped by. She was an older lady, and extremely nice, but didn't appear to have good task management skills because we only saw her twice all morning: once to take our orders, and again to bring the check. It was hard to justify tipping her more than 15% just because she didn't appear to do a lot of the work: someone else ran the food out and brought us another water jug. I don't even recall if she said "thank you" or anything before we left. Before i get into the food: they leave water jugs on your table! I LOVE places that do that! I drink water like a fish, and it was nice to be able to pour another one when I was ready, versus flagging down a server. The food was great: very fresh and somewhat healthy. I had the Tri-Athlete: egg white omelette with green chiles, mushrooms, onions, and tomatoes, served with house-made salsa, fruit, and an English muffin (with jelly on the side, I think house-made). Everything was flavorful, especially the mushrooms and salsa, and was exactly what I needed. I had some work to do that afternoon, and didn't want to get weighed down by greasy, heavy food. Boyfriend had the Parma Hash, recommended by our server, and he loved it. They put two over medium eggs (cooked correctly!) over seasoned potatoes, Italian sausage, mushrooms, tomatoes, onions and peppers with cheese. I had a bite and it was really good; maybe I'll get it next time. Also: they have a whole menu section dedicated to hashes. Finally, beware of the drink prices. Except for water, everything was priced at $2.40+. Coffee was $2.39/cup, more than Starbucks, and it only went up from there. So, if you go with a big group, you could be paying about $10 just in coffee. You could get a really nice bag of coffee at the grocery store for that amount, and it'll last you longer than your meal at First Watch. We will probably be sticking to water whenever we come.

My experience here was sub par to say the least. The food that I received was presented on dirty dishes and when the manager (Kelly) came out, he was quite annoyed and didn't seem to have time to address the complaint. I won't be coming back. Our server, Erin, was great however. She earned the one star I gave the place.

By far this is my favorite place for breakfast. The food is excellent with great value prices. If you're in a hurry their kitchen is in accurate and speedy. They will custom make omelettes that are wonderful And great eggs Benedict. The service is friendly and the outside dining is very nice. Everybody I take there enjoys it.

First Watch improves the previous location at least. It used to be a J. Christopher's. Now, J. Christopher's have been replaced by another chain breakfast restaurant: First Watch. First Watch serves breakfast food. They are open during breakfast and lunch hours. They don't take reservations. But that's okay. They have a large space and can probably accommodate your large party during the weekdays. During prime time breakfast/brunch times in the weekends, I'm not so sure. One of my favorite things about First Watch's menu are the avocados. I lot of their dishes seem to have avocados in them. I love avocados and kudos to them for having a lot of dishes with avocados in them. They also seem to promote healthy and alternative eating as well. I saw many vegetarian food options. You can also get turkey bacon and other healthier alternatives. Just like any other high-end breakfast places, you can get all sorts of breakfast items from pancakes, waffles, omelets, and other egg dishes. They also serve burgers and sandwiches for lunch. For lunch, I tried their Baja Turkey Burger. It was a decent burger. It comes with, "a lean white-meat turkey patty with avocado, lettuce, housemade salsa, mayo and Pepper Jack on a grilled wheat bun." I liked the avocado. Not many places would include that. Just for that, I give them props. For breakfast, I tried their trifecta. I got my eggs over easy with blueberry pancakes and bacon. When the dish came out, it looked boring to me, and it tasted like it looked. You get 2 eggs, 2 bacon, and 1 pancake. You can't make 2 eggs, 2 bacon, and a pancake look or taste that amazing. I mean, all it is is just eggs, bacon, and pancake. Even on their website, they had to take a close up shot of the waffle and the compote to make it look exciting. Unless you really want eggs, bacon, and pancakes/waffles, I suggest you avoid this dish. You should get something more interesting like their Pesto Chicken Quinoa Bowl. I tried this dish, and it tasted good. I think their pesto basil sauce made it come alive. I also tried their perma hash. It was okay and on the salty side. It sounded amazing on the menu, but all it was just potatoes and the other ingredients all mixed in a bowl. The execution was lacking, and it was just a boring dish. Overall, I think this place doesn't seem that exciting to me. It's just another breakfast/lunch place. If you come here, I recommend their Pesto Chicken Quinoa Bowl. The others dishes are average. You can get those anywhere at any breakfast places. The services was good. I liked our server. She was funny and nice.

After reading all of the wonderful reviews I didn't think I could go wrong w/ this decision. It wasn't bad but I wasn't impressed. Wait times to be seated are 20-30mins. It's Sunday and it was brunch time. Thats understandable. The wait time for your food is a bit longer. We checked in at 11:09am and our plates were served at about 11:55. That includes the wait time. Ok so this is what made it an unimpressive visit... They delivered my boyfriends omlet w/ everything he asked them to NOT put on it. It wasn't the waitresses fault because our ticket clearly showed no tomatoes, no mushroom and no sour cream. But all 3 were included on his omlet. That kind of put a damper on the visit. Other than that the server was nice, the atmosphere was awesome and the food was so/so. I won't be rushing back anytime soon.

In a nutshell, the breakfast here is not that good. This is odd because there are so many good breakfast/ brunch places near by, I would guess they would want to be competitive or at least just as good. It is places like this that make you over eating out. It was kind of a waste of $30. I got the egg scramble which was luke warm and with black avocados. It was pretty gross. My sister asked for eggbeaters but was given regular eggs with some green stuff in it. Almost like they did not clean the pan before making the food. The pumpkin pancakes were tasty but that was about it. I give it a two because the service was pretty good. Just a shame the food wasn't.

As a health nut, there is a special place in my heart for restaurants that have healthy breakfast options. This place definitely does. The pesto chicken quinoa bowl tastes great and has easily become one of my top breakfast choices in the metro area. Oh yea, the service is great too.

I love this place! The food is fresh, the prices are decent, the staff are super nice, and even when they are really busy the wait isn't too bad. The only things that took away from the experience were sitting too close to the bathrooms, which was unavoidable, and the parking situation on the weekend, which has nothing to do with the restaurant. Otherwise this restaurant beats other weekend breakfast/brunch places hands down!

I went there this morning for the second time, and it was just as good as I remember it! They have lots of healthy and delicious options, and the staff is very nice!

There is nothing that I feel more empathy for than people who work in the food service industry. If you look at my track record on Yelp, not only is this my first update, but one of very few less than 3 star rating. Today, my husband and I decided we wanted to give First Watch a go before we went grocery shopping. We sat down and the service was wonderful. In my last review of First Watch we found it lacking. "Great", I thought to myself, "I need to write an update." Well... what happened next caused me to update in the opposite direction. I ordered the Bubba Benny and my husband tried the special Banana Brûlée Waffle which came advertised with "bacon infused syrup". The waffle was great, however, the so called syrup was just syrup with bacon bits in it. To give you a little background the Bubba Benny is biscuits and gravy with eggs. I took one bite, pretty good. Took a second bit, holy sh*t, what did I just put in my mouth? Charcoal? No. It was a burnt to hell biscuit. So burnt I could it practiced some slap shots with it. I'm not exaggerating. What pisses me off more than anything, we called the manager over, showed him the biscuits were burnt and all he had to say was "Yeah, they are." As mortified as he looked, he certainly didn't offer an apology, nor did he ever come back to our table again to check on us because it seemed like he was putting out several other fires that day. Not only that but the thought that someone in the kitchen thought someone in the restaurant is dumb enough to eat a burnt to hell biscuit. "I'll just cover it up with the gravy. They'll never notice." I waited a bit for my food to come back, so my husband shared his meal with me so I wouldn't eat alone. When the food came back, it was okay. The experience was diminished. What I was also looking forward to was the potatoes that come with their meals. I happen to enjoy them. I would of enjoyed these if they even bothered to cook them, at all. Another blow to my hungry stomach. The suffering was over, our bill was brought. We go to pay upfront, manager asked how the redone food was in a manner that made him seem defeated, but also agitated. We tipped our server well because she did a great job, but unfortunately you won't see my face there anytime soon. Before I get off my soap box, I work in customer service for a living on a Supervisor level. Nothing grinds my gears more than apathetic management. Nail in the coffin for me and First Watch.

I love this place because the food is filling, but not too heavy. There are loads if healthy alternatives listed on the menu and the staff has lots of suggestions if you need any. Also, they have lots of healthy drink choices! It's a great place to come with your family and friends if you want quality food without that "I can't move or breathe" feeling afterwards. Overall, it's an excellent establishment!

Definitely an improvement from the J Christophers days. Service at First Watch is solid though I miss some of the old dishes that were available before.

OK, I've eaten at First Watch's up and down I-75 (Naples, Ft. Myers, Orlando, Cincinnati and now Atlanta) and I'm a fan. Love the menu, plenty of healthy when you want to feel good about breakfast or just had a good yoga class. Then all the waffles, pancakes and sweet stuff with eggs and meats for the classic breakfast. My favorite is usually the Florentine Benedict and I have to say this location wins the prize: poached eggs were perfect, extra spinach, avocado, tomato and hollandaise over toasted muffins all balanced just right. I also get a bran pancake which was light and nutty good. Granola Parfait is fun and good. Fruit crepes are light and healthy. Trifecta lets you choose to mix and match. Omeletes come in all flavors, love the Acapulco Express. I can't comment on lunch, I always eat breakfast here, all day. Nice relaxed atmosphere with good healthy coffee. One question though: what's with all the kids???? Jeez, it's like a bad science experiment in Smyrna. Ankle biters crawling (literally) all over the place. But we were there on Sunday so be prepared after 10AM for the loud babies (seriously, it's really not that cute when your one year old shrieks at everyone) and the booster seats. Pity the staff, they keep a happy face!

My wife and I were here earlier this morning, and the bad experience unfortunately outweighed the good. I ordered the express omelette (chorizo), and was very impressed. I went to college in Arizona, so I have high standards as well. Our server was also very professional, polite, and seemed to be genuinely helpful. However, there were many other factors which at the time made me believe that this is one of the most unprofessional places I have ever eaten at. My wife's egg benedict was over cooked. A good eggs benedict should have a runny yolk, like over-easy, and this was over-medium/cooked through. It's common sense to know how to make this if you're going to have a job cooking. Also, the description of the sides included with my meal are phrased incorrectly. Apparently the english muffin is only available with the potato side option, instead of with greens. With most menus, when the word "and" is listed after two or more options for sides, it typically means the side following "and" is available for any of those sides. Luckily, I asked the server if the english muffin comes with either side (because I wanted the greens), and he said "No, but I can allow it for you anyways." He was very polite about it. Our food is brought out to us by another person (appeared to be a manager), and I noticed I did not have my muffin. I asked him to bring it out when he had a chance and he cut me off and told me that it doesn't come with the greens, but he still can bring it out. He was very rude about it in his tone, and my wife and I told him that we clearly knew that because our server wouldn't have written it down in our order if we hadn't talked to him prior to the food preparation. However, the manager did not seem to be interested what we had to say because he quickly walked off, later on handing me the muffin without saying a word and with practically no eye contact. This on its own was very unprofessional, but it was far from the worst behavior witnessed today. Throughout the meal, there was constant yelling, screaming, VERY loud laughter, some cursing, singing/wailing, and just overall language/noises/behavior by many members of staff that indicated clowning around instead of focusing on their job. Since the reason they get paid is because of customers, one would think the attention would be on patrons instead of goofing off not giving a care in the world about appearance or negative perception. In addition, the above mentioned manager was seen several times openly flirting with several employees, including arm brushing and constant physical contact. While at times this may be innocent behavior, the physical factor showed it was clearly not. Regardless, it is extremely unprofessional to be acting like that in clear view of customers, especially given all the other behaviors exhibited by the staff. I was completely appalled by the lack of professionalism shown by this restaurant. It may very well be the worst place I have been at based on today. The food was incredible, and our server was very helpful and well-behaved. But all the other factors outweighed the positives from the meal. Hopefully, this is not a common occurrence and will not happen again, but in the meantime, both myself and my wife have no interest in returning anytime soon.

I am astounded at how many people have come to "review" First Watch only to wind up complaining about how its not J.Christopher's anymore. J.Christopher's is the one who sold you out... complain on their wall. The food quality at FW is far superior to most chain restaurants. They offer cage free eggs, organic yogurt, and fresh made ...everything. The have a commitment to freshness they take seriously as evident with the large bowls of fresh fruit and hot buttered muffins. Whereas JC's pancakes are made from a box, FW's are made from scratch. They are HUGE, fluffy, and far better tasting. FW, offers all the same combination as JC's (including blue berry crunch cakes) along with some unique offerings like carrot cake pancakes and bacon and cheddar! While I am not much for corporate chains or corporate food, this place is not bad for a quick bite that doesn't fill you up with grease and is certainly a better option that IHOP or Waffle House. Also, the service is great and they are super kid friendly.

I've been here twice since it changed over to First Watch. First of all where did the bar go? A communal table high up is not a good replacement for the bar. Also, my favorite blueberry crunch cakes are no longer on the menu. Very sad that I now either have to drive over to the Dunwoody J. Chris or go to another breakfast place. I miss you J. Christopher. I've been back a third time by invitation to eat at FW. I have to say things seem to have improved. The food was much better. Although the server I had didn't bring the beverage I ordered and I had to ask for it when my food came out and she failed to check back at any point after I got my food, the next time I saw her was when she dropped off the check. I'll give additional stars for improving the food. Unfortunately I received mediocre service which hadn't happened before. Too bad, I want to like eating here but 3 strikes and I go else where. Sorry First Watch.

If you are looking for a lackluster welcome, slow arrival of food, and overdone breakfast food then this is your place. Our server, Hannah, was fantastic and could not help these other things. She was wonderfully patient and understanding when we requested to send back the pancake and bacon for being too brown and charred. The second round was not greatly improved; the second pancake was not cooked through and runny inside and the bacon was still charred. My husband and I dined around 11 am on a Wednesday and had the trifecta with side of grits and the banana bacon waffle special. Overall, it took too long to get our initial food and replacements that tasted just okay. We do not plan on returning.

Hands down the best breakfast in all of Metro Atlanta! Sourdough french toast, belgian waffles, crunch pancakes. Amazing!!!! Incredible Omelets!!! Topped off with friendly, quick and attentive severs!!! Don't die and go to heaven without eating at First Watch!!!

This breakfast eatery appeared in the place of where J. Christopher's was over the weekend. The staff were super friendly and the food was good. I had the pecan pancakes which tasted like a healthy multi-grain pancakes. I liked J. Christopher's which it replaced, but I'd also recommend this place for breakfast/brunch.

This is a popular place however I believe it's because of the location. Ivy Walk is a cool area and this location was formerly J. Christophers. After a 30 minute wait after 1 PM Sunday, the server admitted she was exhausted. She was nice enough, but the meal was nothing to write home about. The portions were small and the taste wasn't memorable. I definitely prefer Another Broken Egg Cafe or even IHOP.

1st visit - old coffee and cold eggs. Sigh. 2nd visit (and prob last) - Arrived during what seemed to be a slow time - only six tables occupied. We were never greeted and after waiting ten minutes for a table, we left and hit Waffle House. Missing J C's :(

Took 4 out of town visitors to breakfast/lunch and we all loved our dishes. My vegetarian sister in law said the veggie melt was the best sandwich she's ever had. Service was attentive, coffee was good. Sure, not as cheap as breakfast at the Waffle House, but you get what you pay for. I'll go back again for sure.

I remember first watch from when I was in Dayton, Ohio and was excited to see one opening here in Smyrna. I was not disappointed. My wife and I have gone their numerous times since they have opened. The service has been great and the food as good as I remember it being in Dayton. Lot of different things for everybody on the menu. Always liked their pancakes and their Omelets but the Quinoa power bowl is delicious. I know some are disappointed that this isn't J Christopher's anymore and may have marked it down because it isn't JChristophers but honestly, I like First Watch better.

My wife is from Sarasota, where I believe First Watch is headquartered, and was excited to hear a First Watch had opened near us. And I'd say we got 4-star breakfast food and 1.5 star service. Details: -Parma Hash: the potatoes were perfectly cooked - crispy outside, soft inside. The eggs (over-easy) were also perfectly cooked, and the sausage was good. I will say, the cheese was kind of lacking - it was barely noticeable. Overall, I would order it again. -Key West Crepegg: My wife got this and really enjoyed it - I tried it and while I preferred my Hash, this was still good. -Biscuits and Gravy: Couldn't resist ordering this, and was not disappointed. Nice, fluffy biscuit and a delicious gravy. Also, the pancakes and sandwiches going to other tables looked really good - would definitely like to try them. -The Service - our server clearly did not want to be there. I never once saw the faintest smile from him. The first thing he said when he came to our table was "can I get you something to drink?" - no greeting or anything whatsoever. After bringing the drinks, he disappeared while we sat with closed menus waiting to give our order. And by disappeared, I mean he hung out by the server's station and food window doing nothing as if he was trying to avoid his tables. When he finally came back, he made eye contact with my wife (it was a very clear "please come here" kind of look) and he proceeded to look down and walk past us to check on other tables, then came back stopped and looked at us almost as if he was surprised to see us. He thankfully deemed this an appropriate time to take our order. We didn't see him again until after our food came out (and by "didn't see him" I mean he didn't come check on his tables - he was clearly visible standing around in the server's area). I'll cut folks some slack for being inexperienced, or being hung over, or whatever - I'm pretty forgiving. But at least slap on a fake smile, just pretend to be a little friendly, and at least make some effort.

I was here last Sunday with my friend and it was an awesome recommendation. We both had the smoked salmon special and it was amazing! It was busy but they get you in and out so fast. It was our 2nd time at this location and we will be making it out monthly brunch place!

My husband and I decided to try this place after we saw all the reviews on here. First watch is only a few miles from us, so it was nice and convenient. It was very crowded when we got there (which was a good sign),but we only had to wait about 15 minutes for a table. From the freshly squeezed orange juice to the blueberry crunch pancakes, everything was excellent. My husband inhaled his pancakes, and he doesn't even like pancakes! Our server Sindy, was one of the best servers I've ever had, and being a former server myself, that says a lot! We will definitely be coming back! This was a wonderful hidden gem in Smyrna area.

Previously known as J Christopher's .. They bought the franchise out at this location as of August 2013 so same concept but lacking the same customer focus and attention. The place is in the right location thus all the traffic so they will keep the revolving door open as long as they improve on the customer experience. The wait can be long on the weekends so as they say the early bird gets the worm. The waiting area is small and only a few benches but you can wait outside if you want. WATCH THE HOST for skipping as I am certain they do that here as two other groups of three that came in after us were seated first and we said we would seat at any table available which was on a Sunday at noon so prime time crowds. The host and staff offered no explanation on the seating policy or wait list to explain who gets to be seated first. That did upset us. The wait for a table was about 30 minutes. The wait staff was nice and quick. We had a messy table so the bus guy came over a cleaned it again for us. The wait staff tag teamed to get the order in right away which is good to see team work! The food came fast enough hot and fresh! The coffee is not the greatest and tasted flat and burnt so not impressive coffee. The food is the normal breakfast run with hints of fruits and low fat options for better eating. They are comparable to IHOP type food but not as good as J Christopher's. The concept is very similar so almost like a copy cat but it is breakfast so only so many ways to make the food. The check out process is cumbersome and took five minutes as the line was long as some tables want to split the check and all pay separate. You can have the waiter take the bill to pay it or go up front but today they were so busy the waiter never came back to take the payment thus we stood in line to pay at the cashier. She was nice but again seems strange to allow people to pay at the front when they could just walk out not paying? The cashier said people are so honest in "Vinings" area of Atlanta so they are ok with people paying up front. Nice they are so trusting. In summary, the place is ok but I am not a fan nor would I recommend it to anyone! They have lack luster host, pick and choose favorites in peak seating times, unclean tables, and wait staff that is spread so thin they have to team up to get things done thus they are understaffed or greedy and do not want to give up tables for tips. This place has location, location, location going for it so good luck !!!!

Let me just preface this by saying that I ordered TO GO. That being said, I loved this place! First, the staff was great- very helpful, warm and welcoming. We ordered the chocolate chip pancakes, carrot cake pancakes, turkey sausage links, scrambled eggs and coffee. As my brain was apparently still asleep (I went a couple min before 8am on Sunday), I walked right out and forgot our coffee! However, the food was so good, it didn't even matter! We loved everything we had! It was all so fresh and delicious - ready in a flash, too! My carrot cake pancakes were AMAZING. Needless to say, we will definitely be back, most likely bringing more friends with us. Next time I won't forget my coffee! :-)

Cute little brunch spot. About a 20-minute wait at 11:30 on a Sunday - not bad. I ordered a traditional breakfast: eggs, bacon, roasted potatoes, and an English muffin. It was tasty enough, but the potatoes were already getting cold by the time I received my dish. My iced coffee was just okay, and it was already sweetened - great if you like super sweet coffee, but for people such as myself who prefer coffee sans sugar, not so much. The server was efficient and pleasant enough, although his sense of humor teetered on the edge of rude at times. Prices are very reasonable, decent parking, wide variety on the menu, and they use a text message system to alert you when your table is ready - loved that. All in all, a pretty good brunch experience. Thanks!

One of the few 'nice' breakfast places around, but actually kinda pricy for what you get, which often seems bland and uninteresting. Quality could be better, but that's not the only issue. It just always seems the menu and food was strategically designed to take as much of your money for the least they have to give you. I truly wish I could write a more positive review, because some of the staff are so nice it hurts not to recommend this place.

This is an excellent place for breakfast or brunch. Their breakfast scrambles and hashes are delicious! They also have great sweet tea if you like that with your meal. My wife really enjoys the pancakes which are very large.

My newlywed wife and I had our first brunch at this location when it was J Christopher. We were disappointed when we returned for our first brunch as husband and wife and J Christopher was gone. That disappointment quickly vaporized when the food came. First, the hot chocolate was bland like it was made with water. Seemed like they tried to hide the watered down taste with a huge dollop of whipped cream. I has the Italian omelet which was excellent. The tomato really added a delicious juiciness to each bite. I added sautéed onions that were delicious as well. Wifey had the Chickachanga. That was really flavorful with an extra kick from the chorizo. We ordered a banana crunch pancake which they specialize in making. OH. MY. GOODNESS. I will never waste time on an omelet again. Banana, cranberry, granola. Excellent. I miss J Christopher, but I'm glad I now have First Watch.

One of my fav breakfast places back in Florida and just found one here! I had the trifecta- a Belgium waffle cooked perfectly with bacon and eggs. I am not typically a wistful person...but...we miss J.Christopher's! We gave this place a chance on two different occasions and while it is ok...it's not great. There is not anything special about the dishes and the food is pretty bland. We felt sorry for the single older diners who were used to sitting at the counter (new owners removed it) and were asked to sit at the "communal" table where the bar/counter used to be. Weird. During the first week they were open, the transplanted corporate/mgmt seemed more concerned about the placement of the glasses/etc on our tables versus just simply providing great service. We ate at J.Christopher's almost weekly. We have now shifted our business to Another Broken Egg in Vinings. Much better!!! We lost a great place in Smyrna. Our old favorite brunch place was packed on the weekends (lined out the door)...now you drive by First Watch and there is rarely a wait. Others are also finding out that First Watch is just not that great.

The only redeeming quality about this place was the fact that they had the same friendly waitstaff as J. Christopher's. Our eggs were cold, breakfast potatoes were overcooked, and the portions were tiny. We were bummed that J. Christopher's was gone, but we were very hopeful about FirstWatch. We may give it one more try, but I was very disappointed with our first visit.

My husband and I love supporting new local businesses, so we were excited to give this place a try. The waitstaff was very welcoming and friendly from beginning to end. We also were excited to see the variety in the menu choices including the healthy vegetarian options. Unfortunately our meal overall was utterly underwhelming and the coffee was just not good. We used to frequent J. Christopher's, and as disappointed as we were to see it go we understand that things change and life moves on. We truly were excited about this place and came into it with an open mind; however, we will be finding a new breakfast place from here on out.

My wife and I were looking forward to trying this new restaurant. We had always enjoyed J. Christophers and hoped this new restaurant would be just as good. HOWEVER, after waiting 10 minutes and not even getting a glass of water we decided to leave. The restaurant was only half full, as it was 9:00 am. On my way out I was going to say something to the hostess but she didn't even ask how our meal was or say have a good day!
