This has become my go to for a quick lunch when I want Chinese food. It is definitely not the best there is, but the price/quality balance is really great! It is buffet style. You can choose to stay and have buffet for $7.99 or get take-out for $3.99 per pound. The variety is low. There are about 12 items available at the buffet, but what is available is good. My favorites are the black pepper chicken, mandarin chicken, fried shrimp (when available) and the hot sour soup. If you have a craving for chinese at lunch but don't have much time, this is a great place to satiate that craving.

This place is slept on. You may think this is a hole in a wall. Guess what. . . . . you are right. This may be the waffle house of chinese spots meaning it is easy to find and affordable. when made fresh, it is very good. Cheap prices. can give you gas though. not bad general tso's at this place.

China Cafeteria may look like a dump, but it actually serves "good" Americanized take-out-style Chinese food. My friends and I surmised that this restaurant used to be an old Waffle House. A really old Waffle House. The restaurant is located at South Cobb Dr. (Exit 15) and I-285. In the realm of mall food court quality Chinese fast food, China Cafeteria packs a punch. If you can look past the sketchy and rundown surroundings -- it's next door to a Knights Inn -- you'll see that it wins in many categories from those other joints, especially at lunchtime. Examples (at lunch): 1. Self-serve buffet. You control what and how much goes on your plate. 2. Value. You can pay by the pound ($2.99/lb) or have all-you-can-eat ($6.55). 3. More selection. Examples include soups and dessert (Chinese doughnuts). 4. Fresher food. The food gets turned over relatively quick. It doesn't sit out all day. 5. TV. For your entertainment needs. 6. 100 inspection rating. Lunchtime buffet selections include items such as egg drop and hot & sour soup, egg rolls, fried rice, steamed white rice, lo mein noodles, orange chicken, General Tso's chicken, Kung Pao chicken, chicken with broccoli, beef with vegetables, chicken wings, boiled potatoes, and steamed veggies (cabbage and carrots). I like that they have healthier vegetable options. A few notable observations about the food: the hot & sour soup is sufficiently spicy, the chicken wings are mighty tasty, and the Chinese doughnuts are delectably soft and sweet. The restaurant seems to have a devoted following at lunchtime, which is good because it keeps the food from going stale. The restaurant is small and lines can develop at the counter, but nothing terrible. Take-out containers, plates, cups, and silverware are cheap and disposable. The menu has over 100 selections and you'll be hard-pressed to find many items over $10. The restaurant is run by a sweet Chinese family and the lady who interacts with customers is friendly and attentive. Another good thing about China Cafeteria is it's open late. Business hours are 10:30am-10:30pm, Monday-Thursday, and 10:30am-11:30pm, Friday-Saturday. They are closed Sundays. Overall, I give China Cafeteria a solid 4 stars. If it was located closer to where I live, I would order take-out from them.

I love this place! It's fresh and yummy. No frills for sure, I've only ever gotten take out. Great hot n sour soup, the egg rolls aren't greasy like a lot of Chinese places. They are open late which is a huge bonus! I stop on the way home from the gym and can still eat healthy off the spa menu. Steamed dishes with no sauce! Plus the staff is super friendly and the place is always clean.

This place looks very shabby on the outside and I had misgivings about trying it. However, one of my trusted Yelp friends reviewed that the food was pretty good and though I don't really do buffets, I wanted a variety of Chinese food items. I decided to eat in and get the buffet for $6.50. I wasn't really comfortable with the atmosphere, but I stayed a spell. It's just a small dining area with about 7 or 8 tables to include a few high top two seaters. The buffet was small and consisted mostly of chicken dishes. I tried most of them and they all were pretty tasty. Also, the hot and sour soup wasn't bad. I didn't care for the fried rice so much because of the amount of soy sauce they put in it making it a very dark brown. I do like that it had onion and pieces of fried egg in it though. You will be eating on styrofoam plates when you eat here. Complete with plastic eat ware. For some reason, the area where you dump your plate after you eat smelled like motor oil. Go figure. I think the food was okay, but I would do take out next time if some occasion required I eat here again.

Love this place. I'm come often and the staff is so friendly and remember my order and sometimes throw in a extra drinks. I'm from the northeast and this is the closest thing to Jersey Chinese food I have found in Georgia.

China Cafeteria took over a Waffle House long ago. When I walked in, I could tell it was a converted Waffled House from 1955. Instead of the bar area, they have a buffet area filled with fast-food, mall-food-court, Chinese goodies. This place looks, tastes, and is cheap. With the buffet, you can either pay by the pound or get all you can eat. They have entrees you can order, but there is no need because the buffet is so cheap. The all you can eat option is about $6.50. The pay by the pound option is about $3.00 per pound. So you have to eat about 2 lbs worth for the all you can eat to be worth it. One thing though is that when you pay by the pound and ask for white rice, they give you a lot of rice. So don't ask for rice because that'll take up most of the weight. The food at the buffet tasted good. It's not gourmet of course. I would say it's the same type of deal you can find at Panda Express or the mall food courts. It's about the same quality but cheaper. The day I went there, they had fried rice, lo mein, egg drop soup, hot and sour soup, general tso's chicken, Chinese doughnuts, kung pao chicken, steamed vegetables, egg rolls, chicken wings, and many more. I like this place. You should try this place if you need to be frugal, don't mind eating unhealthy, and don't mind Americanized Chinese food.

This place recently upped their prices and changed the format (somewhat ) on the buffet. I am not fond of either change. The price is now amlost 7 bucks (6 and mucho change sans tip and beverage). They still have hot and sour soup, egg rolls, and fried shrimp; however, they took away egg fu yung and also steamed vegetables. They added two or three new stir fry entree dishes, some new fried items (scrawny ass wings, lame fried fish and odd-looking onion rings) and they have added the fiery Sambal Olik hot sauce condiment, but I don't like the changes. And on the day I went I noticed a significant drop in customer patronage. So I won't come back here anymore unless they switch back to their previous format / cheaper prices.

(Written 2/12/2012 before the new owner) 4-star refers to the "old" china cafeteria. Don't judge a book by it's cover. This place doesn't look like much, it's not situated in a very nice spot (in front of a shady looking Knights Inn), and it's hell getting out of the parking lot on most days. Inside, you are met with a true cafeteria-style food bar, similar to what you see inside the food court in the mall. There's sunny seating for those who want to sit and eat (like an old Huddle House) On the food bar there are about 8 entree choices and deals advertised on top of the bar. The deals are super affordable, and you wont get more food for the money unless you hit up a buffet. The 2-3 entree's I've tried have all been hot and tasty. I have them soak My rice in 3 scoops of their special sweet brown sauce, makes it delicious! The employee's always have a smile, and if one of their entree's is running low they wont scrape the bottom and give you the leftovers... they quickly refresh it so you enjoy it fresh. The eggdrop soup is good as well. Did I mention the prices? You can't beat them at any other Chinese take-out restaurant. Stop there for a quick, flavorful, really inexpensive lunch. I wish it were closer to home, I'd be there 3x's a week! ----------UPDATE---------- 3/23/2012 ------------ UPDATE ------------ 3/23/2012 --------- I recently discovered that the China Cafeteria has a New Owner and a New Cook. They no longer seem to offer the cafeteria-style food-court at the mall style dining. HERE'S WHAT'S NEW: They advertise a lunch buffet for $5.55 (mon-fri 11-2) They now have delivery and catering. They now how a FULL MENU sit-down-and-dine experience. Lunch combo plates from the menu start at $5.25 (served 10:30a-4p) Dinner combo plates $6.95 Kids menu $3.99 Wing menu. If they have not done a MAJOR renovation and expansion on this property, I don't see how it's possible they have much of a dining room, much less...much of a "buffet" to speak of. (remember, this property was an old huddle house or waffle house) I will not know what has changed unless I visit. Since they are offering some discount coupons, maybe I'll trek down there and check it out soon. I'm curious about the food and property. I hope the food hasn't changed all that much though, I did love the OLD China Cafeteria. If you have visited the NEW China Cafeteria, please post a review! I will when I do.

I ordered veggie fried rice today and it was horrible. I just wasted my money. I not even sure it was rice. It had to be short grain or something but it was over cooked & gooey (almost like paste). I couldn't even get myself to eat it. My last few visits haven't been good at all but this place use to be great. I understand there are new cooks & new owners. Just not the same. I'll pay extra and visit chef chin just up the road.

This is a great place for quick Chinese takeout. The dishes like General Tso Chicken, Mongolian Beef, and Hibachi combo were I typically ordered, and they were really nice. I've tried many Chinese restaurant in this area, this place provides the most consistent and tasty food every time. The owner is really friendly and helpful. I believe the current owner just took over this place few months ago, I just hope they will stay. Definitely my go-to place for a quick Chinese takeout.

Chinese Cuisine

The popularity of Chinese food in America can be adjudicated by the appearance of China Town in many major cities in the United State of America. The popular trend of ordering or opting for Chinese take away food isn't unknown in America. Chinese take away food comes to rescue when you're too tired from work or too exhausted to cook. No one can resist the temptation of eating spicy noodles, shrimp, chicken, beef or pork cooked in the sweet and spicy sauce. The cooking method of authentic Chinese food is a lot different compared to what is served in America.

Generally, Chinese use dark meat small bones and organs to cook dishes but this changes when you are eating American-Chinese fusion food prepared using white boneless meat cooked with broccoli, carrots and onions. Back in China, the food is less spicy and oily as they favor steaming and braising method for cooking the most popular dishes. So, if you have a taste for authentic Chinese food, then try finding a real Chinese restaurant in the city. You can also try the most popular fusion Chinese food like Pecking Duck, Chicken Feet, Hot Pot, Shrimp Dumpling Soup, Mapo Tofu, Wontons, Chop Suey, Egg Rolls and not to forget Fortune Cookies.

There are not many restaurants in America serving authentic Chinese food. A little research on Restaurant Listings directory can help you locate the best Chinese restaurants in the city. Chinese cuisine is continuously evolving, and you can find a variety of dishes categorized as the food for lactose intolerant, gluten intolerant, vegan, vegetarian, and diabetic friendly. So, if you have a group of friends with different taste patterns, save the hassle and visit the nearest Chinese restaurant in your city.
