Ok food but they overcharged us more than $12. The original check was $8 over the correct amount of our meal. After I asked them to double check the bill, I check my last charges on my credit card and they finally charged us more than $15 of the original bill (already overcharged). Not recommended and not coming back. If you still decide to go, double check EVERYTHING and DON'T LEAVE YOUR CARD ALONE. Pay with cash instead; even though is not worth it.

Pleasantly surprised! I've been looking for a good Thai place in Savannah (Chiriya's was pretty disappointing). We started off with the Summer rolls which were decent. I got the pad see ew and the boyfriend got the drunken noodles. I thought the pad see ew was good, and the drunken noodles were okay. I'm not a fan of the sweeter noodles anyway, but that's not the restaurant's fault. The egg rolls that come on the side were some of the best I've had in awhile. They weren't super greasy like most Asian restaurants have, and I liked the ingredients inside. The only thing that could've made it better was to serve the egg rolls with some lettuce.

This place was really good. I had ginger rice and my wife got pad thai. Both our dishes we very good. The service on the other hand was great! They were out of their house Pinot Grigio so they gave us the more expensive bottle for the house price which really was a great deal. Very clean, great service good food and almost never packed.

Best Thai food ever. Been coming here for 11 yrs. Even to the downtown location when they were open . Seafood Clay pot with red curry with medium spice and double delight made hot. Summer rolls are fantastic too.

Food was amazing. I would definitely come back again. The only thing I have to say is that the music is kind of loud. I had the green curry with chicken. It was delicious. I had to get about 3 plates of rice to finish the dish. The pad Thai was delicious but the ratio of chicken to noodles was a little off. Not enough chicken. We didn't get any desserts or appetizers and it was very filling. The lighting was low and the service was excellent.

The summer roll was to die for. I had the Tom ka soup which was packed with chicken and veggies perfect for a rainy night. The Pad Thai was top notch and was a large portion. I will return.

I was so sad to have only discovered this place in my last few days in Savannah.... I would have eaten here a LOT. For a strip mall restaurant, they do really well. Decor is tasteful, food is very very good. Best Thai I've had in Savannah.

I have probably been to this hidden gem a thousand times over the last nine years but haven't reviewed it. They are extremely consistent, and I have never had a bad experience there. Once we had a server bring the wrong drink - that's it! As previously mentioned, it is in a strip mall, but you would never know it once you are inside, where you are enveloped in a soothing, silky atmosphere, complete with a large salt-water aquarium. Not "divey" at all. The servers are very low-key and polite. They won't smother you but if you need help you will never have trouble getting what you need. My favorites: Pad Thai: I've tried Pad Thai in MANY places and frankly, TK&I's remains my favorite. It is not too oily or sweet and the ingredients are always in the perfect blend and proportion. Drunken Noodle: very addictive, especially if you like a coconut milk, red curry, basil mix, with big fat flat noodles and lots of vegetables. All of the curries! Crispy duck: a special treat, perfectly prepared, tender and flavorful Also, it is never a long wait to be seated here and parking is easy. Overall, this place is a no-brainer!

The green curry was good, the service was great. The food came out fast and the food was the perfect temp. I would def go back when Im back in town.

I love the King and I and introduced my friend to Thai Food for the first time this Saturday. As always the Baked Mussels and Chicken Satay were Winners. We used photos from Yelp and settled on the Massaman Curry and Prawns Panang for our main course. I did not enjoy the Massaman which was slightly salty and the consistency of watered down peanut butter but I'm not sure if it's supposed to taste that way.... The Prawns were the STAR of the night as the curry sauce had the perfect amount of spice and the right amount of rice to go with the meal... I have tried a few items now on the menu and still enjoy the PAD THAI (No Brainer). I will continue to love this place but am willing to venture into Savannah and find some other Diamonds in the Rough!

My favorite Thai place in Savannah. They are always very friendly with fast service and delicious food. The restaurant itself is always immaculate and (this may sound weird) but when you ask for the spicy condiment tray, it is always clean and looks like they prepared it just for you (I HATE it when you go to a Thai restaurant and the condiments are on the table, uncovered, sticky and gross) Anyhow, I love their shrimp spring rolls. Their curries are all delicious and their crispy duck is amazing. If you want your food spicy, just ask for it. If you want it really spicy, you need to ask them to make it as spicy as THEY would eat it. Their portions are always generous and I have never, ever been disappointed. The King & I is THE place to go for Thai food!!!

Living in Atlanta, there's awesome Thai food. We decided to come home one night during our stay in Savannah since we couldn't make our previously-made reservations. The service was outstanding, and the food was good. Wasn't quite the best I'd ever had but still alright nonetheless.

My husband and I love this place. I'm so glad to have finally found a good Thai place down here, after my favorites in MN shut down (no chance to go for Thai on vacations!). The restaurant is in a strip mall and looks like it would be questionable from the outside. From the inside, it's relaxing, and has nice decorations. This is a place where you can dress up and not feel overdressed, but don't NEED to dress up, which is great. Our server was nice, very attentive, and efficient. Our meal was a tiny bit pricey (or his meal was), but 100% worth it. I'd heard good things about the lychee martini, and my husband loves lychee, so I pressed him to order one. I don't order alcohol at restaurants, and he rarely does, but he said it was very good and he couldn't taste the alcohol. 5/5 for his lychee martini. Being allergic to shellfish and a huge lover of Pad Thai, I stuck with what I knew, and ordered chicken Pad Thai. It was fantastic. I was extremely pleased, given that I've had both amazing and disgusting Pad Thai from restaurants previously. This was some of the best I've had. The light peanut flavor was very nice. The portion was enormous--I ate until I was stuffed, and still had more than enough for lunch the next day. 5/5. My husband ordered the roast duck. I wasn't sure what either of us would think of it, I myself erroneously thinking I'd never had duck before. It was incredible. Definitely worth the $18.95 or so it cost. The sauce was fantastic, the duck was tender and moist but not too fatty. It was rich without being overly so. The flavors were perfectly balanced, as they should have been. Pad Thai is possibly one of my top three favorite foods, but the next time we go I might have the duck. 5/5. Unfortunately we had no room for dessert. Maybe next time! Definitely lives up to the hype. It made our night. Also it's very quiet, which we love. 5/5 in every category. Will definitely be returning.

Do NOT go here. If you are looking for fresh Thai food, this may not be the best of Choice. I am vegetarian and went for lunch while visiting savannah. Their spring roll comes with their lunch menu but has chicken in it. So I asked for it to substituted for something vegetarian. NOPE! Kitchen is very dismissive and unwilling to work with the customer's choice of diet. I don't really give 1 star to any establishment, but given this place's popularity they should do a better job facilitating different diet choices. I had red curry and it was okay. Very blend and powered with sauciness. What happened to Thai flavor!!!!! I've had better flavor food on cruise ships.

I went with one of my usual dishes -- the massamun curry with tofu -- and it was quite good. Rich flavor with a generous amount of tofu and vegetables (though, at $11.95 for dinner, I think I would've be a little miffed had they shortchanged me). The fact that the peanuts weren't soggy at all was a nice touch. I got a take-out order, but picking it up was a bit of an awkward experience. There's no foyer, counter, or podium at the front, so I walked in ... and just stood there, as nobody paid me any attention. I ended up making my way to the bar area in the back and getting things done there, but the staff still seemed a bit dismissive. Bad day?

This is a good place on the southside of Savannah for Thai food---however, be aware that the quality is a little iffy at times--when they're good, they are excellent, when they're bad, they're...well, not terrible, just disappointing. I went on January 6th this year for my birthday. My daughter and I had eaten lunch there 3 weeks before and it was all excellent--the Sizzling Roast Duck with Red Curry was superb, flavorful, with fresh, colorful vegetables and tender, crispy slices of duck; the Angel Wings were also great: crispy and large, stuffed with with plenty of ground pork--you only get two but that are BIG, and don't forget to munch those crunchy golden wing tips! OK, this time it was a little more uneven, though still mostly good. We started with the Spring Rolls which were delicate, crispy and delicious; the Tod Mun (they were, unfortunately, out of Angel WIngs) --fish cakes-- were dark, chewy and overcooked--NOT good; we ordered the Beef Satay but they brought us the Chicken Satay--awkward, but we went ahead and accepted them and they proved tender, tasty and delicious (the beef are even better--no chewy, tough satay here!); I will say they do well with the Satay because of the proper use of spices and good cuts of meat. For a salad we had the Laab Chicken Salad; it was not bad, but not my favorite--something about the granular texture of the chicken was not to my taste, and there was too much shredded iceberg lettuce, which gave it a watered down flavor--mixed greens would have been better. The Prawns Panang were nice, though the price was a little hefty, as you only get six--the sauce was delicious and the presentation striking; the prawns were fairly tender, and not chewy as they have been before. The Massaman Curry--again, a good dish with tender-crisp vegetables skillfully cut, but for the price, the bowl was rather small. I'd recommend having a couple of good appetizers before you order this, then you can share it. We had the Thai Tea to drink: Oolong tea with a blend of coconut milk and cream layered on top that, stirred into the drink, gives it a warm orange color--rich and satisfying--a little pricey, but I could drink several--add some rum and it would be delightful! The atmosphere of the place is pleasant, with beautiful tapestries in gold and silk threads, brocaded walls, and soft lighting. Our waitresses were unerringly kind and patient. One of them looked like a Thai Reese WItherspoon, had a sweet smile and was very efficient, with a good sense of humor. All in all a fine meal--missed my Angel Wings, but definitely good enough to merit another visit.

Outstanding Thai place quite a ways away from the Historic District, but well worth the drive out. Teh dishes that my wife and I had were both tremendous, and some of the best Thai we've had in the southeast. We wish we had Thai quality this good back in Gainesville, FL! Perfectly spiced and prepared, and Singha pairs perfectly with just about anything. Very clean, restrooms were clean and nicely appointed, the fish tank in the middle of the dining room was a hit with the kids, and the general interior ambience is very nice for the strip mall location.

The King & I is fine, decent Asian food but it tends to be on the saucy, heavy side. The dishes lack a feeling of freshness that you would expect in fantastic Thai food. Some menu items are overpriced for what they are. That said, the service is always great, very attentive staff.

Went there a few years ago and the food was outstanding. One of the best. The last time I went, though, I was really disappointed. The baked mussels were pretty good, but the lamb chops were so salty that I couldn't eat them. It's unlikely I'll be back.

A diamond in the rough! This place has great food and great service. If I could only of afford to eat out every night. I can't say enough good things about the King and I. I highly recommend the Sam Rot. It doesn't sound too appealing, but trust me, you won't be disappointed.

Very good Thai for reasonable prices. The decor and plating are much nicer than I expected, but the food was properly prepared and not trying to be complex or showy, despite the attempt at upscale plating. This was a good thing. Service was also excellent. I can recommend the drunken noodles and fresh (not fried) spring rolls from personal experience. My coworker had the depressingly named "vegetables in brown sauce", but it was actually a nuanced sauce with flavors of peanut, oyster sauce, soy, and ginger - a far cry from the mystery gravy most asian places in America try to serve. Glad to have found another good restaurant in Savannah that isn't in the pricey and crowded historic district.

Similar to the case of Taste of India, I was King and I was my first experience with Thai food. Now that I've tried Thai food in many different places (San Francisco included), I can say with relative certainty that this is not just good food, but good Thai food. The Pad Thai is probably the best I've ever had. None of that artificial, overly sweet, disturbingly bright pink sauce here! The Masaman curry is to die for; sweet and salty with the distinctive bite of Kaffir lime leaves. The satay is one of the more flavorful I've had and the fried shrimp is always crispy and delicious. I also really like the spring rolls (I know, who goes to a Thai place for the spring rolls?? But they're really that good. A little spicy!) As another reviewer said, don't be fooled by the hideous location; when you step inside, it's a completely different world. Think classy, but with an ethnic twist. Do be sure to check out the GIANT fish tank (not that you could miss it). There are some seriously cool fish in it (this coming from someone who generally thinks fish are gross) and a giant black and white eel! One of the cuter bathrooms I've seen in awhile too. Bonus: They have a cool martini list with fun flavors like asian pear and lychee!

Best Thai food within 100 miles, hands down! The chicken pad thai is amaaaaaaazing! It's reasonably priced and portioned to feed those on the hefty side, rather than the bobble heads who just like to "taste" their food. My husband eats like a fat man and he still rarely finishes all of his in one sitting. Try this place, and you'll love it!

When I lived near Savannah this was the only Thai spot in Savannah. I loved it. I would take my dogs for classes at Petsmart then drive to the King & I for dinner. It's in a pretty shoddy looking shopping center but is nicely decorated inside. The prices are a bit steep as compared to the awesome Thai spots in Atlanta but I never had a bad meal there. Try it out.

The customer service here really is exceptional. After being here number of times, I always see the same waiter and waitresses working every shift. And they really are really nice and accommodating. I can't say that this place is the best Thai Food I've ever had, but its definitely delicious! One of my favorite restaurants in town.

I have been living in Savannah for six years and it used to be one of our fave Thai restaurants to go. But really salty food has stopped us from going back. Last time we went there I had decided to order something simple like pad Thai. I used to order there drunken noodles but they were too salty. So I just decided to go with pad Thai. How can you mess that up? Apparently you can their pad Thai was very sweet! I know that a good pad that should be a perfect combination of sweetness and sourness that comes from tamarind. My pad Thai was just overwhelmingly sweet. I had mentioned it to a waitress and asked to take it back. I have never asked them to take it off my bill but I just can't eat something that is not good. I ended up just eating some of my husbands dish. The cumulative moment was when an old Asian looking man came out of the kitchen in his apron and asked me if I knew what a pad Thai tasted like when I ordered it and then he said something about no charge. Oops I guess I offended the cook. Since then we are avoiding this place and I'm still waiting for a good Thai place opening up in Savannah.

This used to be one of my go to restaurants years ago but that all changed one fateful night . I ordered a Groupon for this place a upon receiving my check noticed that not only did they overcharge me but they also tacked on a hefty tip without my approval all because I used a Groupon . I didn't embarrass myself nor I call for the manager I simply waited until I get home and call Groupon the next day . That caused me to avoid coming back here years until my family wanted Thai food and this happened to be the closest place . The food was good and the service was great too just like I remembered . Will we be back yes but it'll be months or years in between those visits .

I went here with a group of about 10. The food was tasty. Most everyone was satisfied with their food. We waited a pretty long time for our food, despite our large group number, other establishments typically are a lot faster. The atmosphere is quiet and relaxed. The place is very clean. I only had one major hiccup... I pulled a very long hair out of my food. That always kills my appetite. I was going with four stars, but yeah. I'm sure it's an isolated incident. I would recommend this place to anyone looking for great Thai.

Now that's some good Thai food. We tried several items on the menu and devoured them all. Who knew that Savannah had such a great Thai restaurant. I wish we had one here in Charleston. This will be a regular stop on every visit.

Its alright. We got some seafood dish and it was horribly under seasoned. Service was alright. The only problem was the food for the price it was. Under seasoned and overcooked. I might try this again because the service was pleasant so I would give the kitchen a second chance.

Was visiting Fort Stewart/Hinesville, GA . Was not able to find a Thai Restaurant in Fort Stewart. Google helped to found the place like 40 miles away from where i was , I was real late to the restaurant. But the Service was awesome and Outstanding, especially i should mention about Lorna who went out of the way to give the Right Veggie Fried Rice without mushroom, broccoli or Corn. She is quick, sharp and a great asset.. She is the best in the entire restaurant, other than her Grandfather, who is very polite, nice , or he might be owner..I did not ask about it. I saw in the restaurant. They have got so many Awards Locally - They deserve it. Way to go. I brought the food till now for night dinner also. Very tasty. Nice and good way of working. Thats the reason i have not written about any single Thai restaurant in Charleston, SC.. Since this particular restaurant has a great standard like the THAI in Winter Park, & Winter Garden , Florida

I have been a very long time patron of Saigon until its recent, unfortunate closure. Since then I have tried a few other Thai restaurants to see if there was anything that could replace my favorite Thai restaurant in the country. Other than the location and the interior design, this place is quite possibly better than or equal to Saigon. I went basic and tried the Pad Thai since I usually judge the quality of a Thai restaurant based off that. Indeed, it was outstanding. I highly recommend this place for Thai Cuisine in the Savannah area. I'm hungry.

good but not as good as I expected, but then again when I'm listening to the advice of savannah folk what did I expect? vegetarian friendly yeah but sleazy staff and I guess that was the owner trying it on with me. not gonna happen, mate. but I'll be back for lunch, sure.

I came here for lunch one Thursday, and I had the soft shell crab. It was very crispy and tender, and the sauce creamy and delicious. It was very affordably priced and the quality was excellent. My only complaint was that our server was somewhat overwhelmed. But the experience was blissful, overall.

This restaurant has potential. The ambience is nice. I started my meal with a delightful first spoonful of Tom yum soup. The subsequent spoonfuls had large slivers of ginger and bay leaves which should have been strained out before reaching the table. Biting into ginger is horrible. The calamari was fried in heavy flour and it was rubbery and inedible. The spring rolls were really egg rolls. They were not light and thin. The pad Thai was burnt and after a spoonful it was near impossible to get the burnt bitter taste out of my mouth. I let the waiter know and he said that I should have told him before eating any of it. This was an all around bad experience and I left there still hungry.

Where to begin? Not only is the food here only marginally edible, our order was absolutely wrong, yet no one bothered to come near our table to allow us an opportunity to have the issues resolved. In fact I am sitting in the restaurant typing this review while the staff rearranges furniture in lieu of bringing our check which we asked for 10 minutes ago. On top of that, our mediocre food was delivered without utensils, and the "server" I stood up to ask for them actually went into the kitchen to tell our original server to handle it, then sashayed himself past our table without bringing us the silverware.

I won't lie this place holds a little special spot with me because it is the place that introduced me to Thai food which has become one of my favorites. The decor is great and once you're inside you don't even notice you're in a strip mall. My favorite Thai dish is green curry with pork and this place is the best at it on town in my opinion. I've had a few other dishes and they have all been good but this is but it's hard to miss this dish here. My girlfriend got the yellow curry which I thought was brave for we first Thai dish ever but she liked it. She tried mine and liked mine more of course but she stuck with her dish. The staff are usually great and of you go at lunch it's pretty affordable. Their dinner menu can be a little pricy if you go with their specialty dishes but I've never felt like I over paid here.

Okay, so maybe this place is not in historic Savannah... But if you want some good thai, I believe this place is authentic!! Which translates to delicious!!! BTW, almost all of the servers looked Thai (except one). I don't know for sure, but I'm supported by the sign that says "authentic" Thai! =) One of my clients had mentioned this place to me before but I was never able to visit. We decided to have Thai for dinner last night. This is in a shopping strip at the corner of Hodgson Memorial and Eisenhower Drive. Yes, the shopping strip may look a little ghetto and empty, but didn't your mom ever tell you not to judge a book by it's cover?!? This would be one of those places -- it's like a little gem! So, we entered the restaurant and they were pretty packed. There didn't seem to be any tables available to seat 5 people. However, there were a handful of 4 seater tables. Well, as soon as we walked in, we were greeted by a very busy server. She acknowledged us and asked how many and then walked away. Several minutes later, she put some tables together to allow room for 5. We were seated within minutes - fantastic! After reading some yelp reviews, we decided that we MUST order Pad Thai. So, this was on our menu (and we wanted to order TWO since everyone raved about it -- we didn't want to run out). My cousin wanted some fresh rolls and everyone basically ordered a dish. The remaining dishes we ordered were green curry, steak lemongrass, scallops with basil sauce, thai tea. SERVICE - No, they weren't "spot on" with service. We had to wave them down a handful of times, but whenever we did, they acknowledged and came to us as soon as they were busy. Since they were busy, I consider the service being reasonable -- pretty good for being busy. Green Curry (hot) - On the menu, it states that the green curry is hot (spicy). My cousin was really wanting some green curry as this is her favorite, so we ordered this. It came with some avocados, cucumbers (i think) and who knows what else. Whatever it was, it was pretty delicious and spicy. Everyone was pleased with it. Lemongrass Steak - The quality of the steak was medium grade. For the price we were paying, I expected top notch quality, but it didn't seem so. I wasn't a big fan of the sauce either --- I guess I learned that I don't like lemongrass last night! It did however have lots of vegetables. I can't recall if there were more vegetables than steak, but there was plenty (of veggies). Scallops with Basil Sauce -- The scallops were overcooked; thus, they were a little too hard and chewy. Also, they were medium qality. They weren't the finest quality, but .... oh well. My biggest complaint was they were way too overcooked. There were lots of vegetables in this dish as well. Similar to the lemongrass steak, I can't say that they were "generous" with their portions of the meat. They weren't... Pad Thai -- As most of the yelpers suggested, I agree that the pad thai was delicioius! So did my cousin, my mother, my aunt, and my husband. Katy M. mentioned that in general everything was too saucy, but it wasn't when we visited. I guess it really depends on who the chef is the night you're cooking, which can be a bad sign, but one thing that was pretty common from most yelpers is the pad thai was great! Let me forewarn you!! This dish (one order) is HUGE! I mean, our pad thai came with TONS of noodles. We ordered two dishes of this expecting it would be "small" portions but they were quite generous with their noodles. So, I think you could easily order 1 pad thai to split between three people (or five, in our case) to sample. I highly recommend their pad thai. Fresh Spring Roll (with shrimp) -- This roll came with lettuce, rice vermicelli, lettuce, and cilantro. It was quite simple and honestly quite cheap (to make at home), but the thing that really made this awesome was the sauce. Their peanut sauce was great. I wish I knew how to make it, but I think peanut sauce is quite complicated to make. Thai Tea -- The thai tea was sweet, but very good. Yes, I would order this again and drink ALL of it, if I weren't pregnant. Caffeine is no good for me right now! =( All in all, I'm quite pleased with this dinner and so was the rest of our party. We all thoroughly enjoyed the food and would come back again. Thank you, the King & I!

We are visiting from Atlanta and may have been spoiled by the number of good Thai places there but this place just edible. Flounder special has very little sauce. Nothing special. I am not sure why other yelpers like this so much. The Pad Thai is sweet. Drunken noodles are sweet. Fried rice tastes like Chinese. Nothing is bad but very little flavor. Decor is good. Service is below average. And then they added 18% tip for a party of 6 even though that wasn't mentioned anywhere on the menu. It is almost as if they know their service is sub-par and didn't want to risk the tip. I would've left 15% anyway.

The food was average and don't even think about asking for something that is at all different from the way it is written on the menu. They have some dishes with steamed rice and others with fried rice but cannot substitute one for the other, as one example of several requests. No explanation other than " we are not Japanese, we are not Chinese". No appearance of the manager to attempt some form of customer service. We informed them we would not be back.

Their pad thai is fantastic. I usually get that dish whenever I get thai food and I gotta say theirs beats everything.. and I lived in Korea for a month.

I need to be up front here: I'm originally from NYC, and just spent the last decade living in San Francisco, so my standards are pretty high. I'll also say that my dining partner (with the same pedigree), enjoyed her Pad Thai. Thus 3 rather than the 2 stars I would have given. But then if you can't do that right, why open a restaurant, right? That said, there are still some basic standards of food preparation that I felt really lacked. For example my vegetables, although probably fresh, were soggy and barely warm. It truly irks me when restaurants don't pay attention to anything but the main item on your entree plate. And my rice; also barely warm. I wanted fish and asked which was the freshest. My waiter was kind enough to ask the chef, but the response was simply that all the fish was fresh and they wouldn't say which had come in last. As for my fish (can't recall what I picked), it was definitely fresh cooked and served piping hot. But I guess I should have asked for it steamed. As opposed to the way I've always had a "fried" fish (Pla Rad Prig) in Thai restaurants (marinated and wok-fried WITHOUT batter), this was just a square piece of fish (fresh/frozen?), batter dipped and deep fried. One can find that in any Savannah restaurant - what a disappointment! However, certainly the (overly sweet) Thai-chili sauce helped differentiate it. Now I recognize that perhaps they are trying to accommodate the southern palate, but then gosh, what's the point?

It's a small Thai restaurant tucked away in a random, ugly little strip mall, but it is so good. We pulled in here while stuck in traffic one day when we realized that, while we had been sitting at a light complaining of hunger for five minutes, we'd been next to this restaurant the whole time. Our low expectations (due to the surrounding ugly strip mall) were completely erased - this place is terrific! Excellent food, service, decor, everything. I've seen prettier Thai restaurants in the area, but I don't really feel the need to go anywhere but here when I want my Thai fix ...

When I was in Savannah few months back, I was craving for Thai food and found this place on Yelp. Great find! The food was surprisingly delicious and authentic. The pad thai was probably one of the best I have ever ate and that is saying a lot! The location of it was kind of shady, but that doesn't matter because this is good Thai food.
