This place is the best kept secret in mid-town Savannah. I went for lunch one day when I was in the area. I was just going to pick up a sandwich and bring it back to the office. Let me tell ya', my french dip was made up of a pound of Boar's head meat. It was on fresh bread that was baked in house. It was a doosey of a sandwich! Not mention the steaming hot au jus and melted cheese. So I see my sandwich and think, there's no way I can eat this whole thing. Then I remember the sides that were thrown into my bag. I got a side of pasta salad, baked chips and a pickle. The pasta salad was simple and delicious. I never made it to my chips or my pickle .All in all I got a monstrous sandwich and great sides for $10. That may sound like a lot but I ate on it for two days my friends! Delicious, a must visit!!

I had been craving a good sandwich for a long time ever since I moved from my home in Sacramento. I saw this place and decided to give it a try. Bonus points right away when I asked if they had a horseradish mayonnaise and the gal said NO but they would be more than happy to make me some. Roast beef and cheddar on soft and delicious sliced wheat bread. No complaints and it was almost better than what I was used to back home at my favorite deli. It definitely cured my craving. I'll be back soon!

This is the ONLY place to get a decent bagel in Savannah.

  • Nick H.

Felt just like being in a deli up north. Very friendly staff. Amazing food!!

  • Robert W.

The bagels were just ok. The selection was moderate. I'd say they were an equivalent to a chain with a better feel and much better deli selections. They could have a better selection of muffins and sweets.

Great deli! Saw the reviews and had to stop in. Boar's head meats were excellent and the bread was fresh. Military discount too. Definitely stopping in next time I'm in town.

Eat here once a week. Real bagels, great toppings, yummy sandwiches, served up in clean, friendly surroundings. The staff is great, the prices are low. What more can you ask for.

This place is GREAT! (I tried to write that in all caps, but yelp will not allow it. That is how I feel, though.)

Best bagel, fresh bread, and sandwiches (breakfast or lunch) in Savannah. I sometimes wish that I could drive 20 min out of my way every morning just so I could get a bagel. Order a Godfather and it might take you all day to eat, but it will be worth every moment. Get a sandwich card too, because you can be rewarded just for going there, and they keep the cards there so you don't have to fill your wallet with crap!

It took me two tries to even get served here. everyone moves at a snails pace. The food is ok. I made the exact same sandwich at home for half the price. No cheese or condiments, even though I requested them. The service is less than stellar. Regulars get smiles and thank yous, but new customers get a scowl. Didnt seem clean, and i couldnt find a restaurant grade in the facility, which made me neevous. Not sure if I'll go back.

Their breakfast bagels won't disapoint. Neither will the smiles and semi-good coffee. There's a broad selection of bagels and sandwiches for breakfast and lunch. Just a nice quiet place to escape the hustle and bustle of this part of town and enjoy a bite.

I'm from New Jersey, so naturally I'm a bagel fanatic. I used to work at a bagel place for several years when I was in highschool, so I know all about good bagels. This place is pretty decent compared to other bagel places in the south. Only complaint is it takes a while for sandwiches to get made, and some of the items are a bit pricey for what you get. I love the Lox platter though. The capers are a great touch!

I rarely give 5 stars to a place unless it is someplace that stands out; someplace that I would make a special trip to visit. I really loved the toasted sesame bagels here. I'm a fan.

Best bagels in Savannah, the bagels are all made in house every morning, as is all of the fish and egg salads. They are very nice people, family owned and operated. Egg salad is my favorite, it's finely chopped and super tasty. It's pretty crowded usually but it goes fast. Croissants very good too

  • Kristen J.

We LOVED their bagels...they were so yummy! Easily one of the best bagels I have ever had and they had a nice selection of bagels and spreads to boot. My sister got a bagel sandwich which she enjoyed and I chose my "old stand by" egg bagel toasted with cream cheese and a chocolate milk and it was really the perfect bagel. I would highly, highly recommend this place for a great bagel!

We came here for breakfast to avoid the usual chains that blanket the region and unfortunately weren't impressed as so many others were. Being a traveler if you've been to any of the country's chains, even places like Atlanta Bread and Panera, these bagels don't taste anywhere near as fresh. In fact, if you're from the West Coast and on vacation in Savannah and are accustomed to Manhattan Bagels or Western Bagel or from the East Coast and frequent Einstein, Bruegger's or Brooklyn Bagels you'll be disappointed. Our bagel surely didn't taste like they were baked on site. The coffee selection aren't as good, either. We tried two wheat, a pumpernickel and a plain bagel and wondered if they bought them off site (like a Dunkin Donuts often does) and had them brought in to this deli. They weren't warm, didn't taste fresh and the staff was mute. None of the workers had any energy to them, which you normally get at a bagel shop or deli. The staff seemed asleep. There's nothing wrong with breakfast here, but it surely isn't a 4 or 5-star experience. It's your average bagel shop, which is great in most of our minds.

5 stars yea why not! I stop by usually in the morning since I work one block away the feel in the deli is good home style I usually take out the selection if bagels is pretty good I sometimes get it with egg or cheese not bad at all if you love cream cheese then you should swing by this deli the put a lb of cream cheese on your bagel sometimes it is a little over the type but nothing I can't wipe off. Sandwiches are pretty good too I must add. The staff very helpful and friendly. They do have a wide selection if coffee a lot more tastier then Starbucks overall it's excellent and I will continue to go to this hidden gem in savannah

We tend to hit this at "unexpected" lunches out. The location is great, being surrounded by mainly retail stores, the in and out time is always great. We probably go here twice a month and have sampled a majority of the specialty sandwiches. We recently got sandwiches to go today. We picked the buffalo chicken sandwich. It was great, they do deli stuff right: boars head and house made bread. You couldn't ask for a better deli sandwich. Also, the bagels here are about as good as any bagel you'd get outside of maybe New York. If you go early enough, they sell bagels from the day before at half off!

Excellent sandwiches and bagels with a good variety of meats, cheeses and spreads as well as other entrees. Friendly service and good seating.

  • Ashley K.

Sandwiches were good. I had the godfather and my bf had the buffalo sandwich. The meat and bread tasted fresh. Big portions. I didn't really like the pasta salad. Service was fast, but not very friendly. The Place was also kind of dirty.

nice atmosphere, friendly and helpful staff and a decent bagel where they are pretty hard to find. thumbs up!

A five star deli I know what you're thinking but Mr. Stefan it's just a deli . Come here and let me school you this place is without a doubt the best deli in the surrounding area. The way they put sandwiches together is a thing of beauty and there's no way you could duplicate this process at home. On yesterday after years of not stopping in here my daughter and I stopped in , this was her first time coming. She was immediately hooked on their sandwiches and their bagels. Until yesterday I had never eaten a bagel then after hearing my daughter go on and on about how this was the best bagel she's ever had. Never mind the the fact that she's only 10 years I decided to try it too and I'll admit it that it was the best bagel that I'd ever tasted either. Granted it was my first ever bagel I decided that this too was the best bagel I've ever had Drake would be proud. This place is truly a diamond in the ruff, nope it's not fancy and sure there may be a wait. You may even have to sit outside but as my daughter said daddy I want to eat here everyday that's the highest complement I can bestow upon this wonderful establishment !!

If you ever want to eat well and get off the beaten path, you always want to ask a local. I found this place after having a taste for an authentic Reuben sandwich. I had just that; an authentic sandwich from a no-frills deli. It was perfect. If you are in Savannah and looking for a good sandwich that isn't a sub, this is your spot. I will definitely be back to try the cuban.

Unfortunately the 10 bagel punch card has been discontinued... but Midtown still has THE best bagels in Savannah. Hands down. Serious variety of loaves, bagels and coffees, not to mention a very big sandwich menu. I always order a breakfast sandwich and love it. Never, ever a complaint about this place and I come almost weekly.

I suffer from debilitating food cravings. Perhaps you have had this from time to time - that feeling of wanting, nay, NEEDING the taste of a certain food on your tongue. A need so strong that, despite trying to assuage your hunger with other food, you just never feel...satisfied. This is my life. I am a lifelong sufferer from this...and yet, no fundraisers for me. Donate your pennies, people...I need a personal chef! So...my most current craving: lox bagel. The whole shebang...crisp, toasted bagel with lovely cream cheese, salty capers, meaty lox, juicy tomato and crisp onion. Maybe a little olive oil and salt and pepper. After an early morning meeting, I went searching for one, as I still have no personal chef to whip it up for me. This place provided me with everything I needed, except the olive oil. It was pricy, I think around $10 bucks but talk about satisfying! I didn't need lunch after finishing off this beast of a bagel. If you too suffer from food cravings and a lox bagel is on your mind, stop in. Its totally worth the monetary investment!

Awesome bagels, and spreads. Awesome sandwich. Awesome macaroni salad, and potato salad. Everything's made in house which is great and adds to the sandwich. Original east coast deli feel. Can't beat it. I only wish one was in pooler.....

I'm an exceptionally patient person. So much so, that I've come here at least ten times despite having never received an order the way I had actually ordered it. Believe me, I wanted so badly to find a great New York Deli in Savannah. Alas, this isn't it. If I wanted to have my bagel microwaved -- right in front of me, to melt the cheese that was supposed to be on it to begin with -- then I could go to Panera or slap it together at home. I see they have a lot of regulars. Maybe there's a secret ordering language I haven't mastered. Maybe they just don't like me. Maybe, I just don't need/deserve condiments on my sandwich. I couldn't tell you. But I just don't have it in me to ever go there again.

So far, I get greeted & I get in line. Place looks like its been here for a bit. No idea what I want since I have never been here. Starung at this menu with everything from breakfast, hot and cold sandwiches, deserts, BAGELS, soups and salads. Spreads have their own long list. So excite but im indecisive and I usually let the staff decide for me. The sweet girl with glasses at the register. I ask Wallstreet or Godfather. Shes honest and said you know I dont like itialian salami but if you want a great sandwich, Rockefeller. I go with it in a combo with potato salad in which she also suggests. This place is quite, with obvious regulars who know they can do no wrong. The staff may look young but they are sweet attentive and make a bangin sandwich. Let me tell you about my sandwich. Its a basic deli sandwich with turkey, ham, bacon, lettuce, tomato, onions, mayo and mustard on soft sourdough bread. This thing is a mammoth. That potato salad is smooth with flavorful. I know I can finish this but im taking it home. I will conquer this sandwich. I cant wait to bring back my roomie snd friends. Im getting a bagel to take home and I am going to keep coming back. Maybe a pecan queen too?

Very good!! I'm from out of town and very glad we stopped in. I had a hot sandwich. They also have lox bagels :)

I had the Italian sandwich for lunch. I was a little surprised when she told me it was a little over $9 and I didn't order a drink or side. They gave me my sandwich in a bag being that I ordered it to go and immediately understood the price. At least a half pound of premium boars head deli meats where on the sandwich along with their wonderful bread. I had the sandwich fully dressed and after finishing it was glad I didn't get any sides to go with it. The food here never disappoints and represents the NY deli's well just wish the price didn't mimic NYC Deli's as well.

It's ok, nothing to fancy but if your looking for NYC style bagels in savannah this is the place to go. They put strange ingredients on their everything bagels. Anis seed? Who does that? Great way to ruin a bagel if you ask me. Being from NYC I had never tasted that on an everything bagel. Everything else is ok, nothing to cry home about.

Ordered "The Godfather" (an italian style sandwich) for a late lunch. You could tell it was busy during the main lunch hour and slowed down after 1:00pm. They have plenty of tables - which is great. And parking is super easy. Best thing about the sandwich was the high quality boar's head meats and the side pickle spear. I got the combo which brought my total to $11.77. Combo choices include cole slaw, potato salad, pasta salad, or a cookie. The pasta salad was recommended and appeared disgusting. I couldn't even eat it. It was described as coming with red peppers and italian dressing. The red peppers were microscopic and the italian dressing was gelatinous. Not appetizing at all. The sandwich came with lettuce, tomato, onion and italian dressing. I customized mine and added pickles. The bread was dry, but the vegetables were crisp and fresh.

This is my favorite place to eat in all of Savannah. Being that I'm from up north, its nice to have a shop in the south that can relate to the type of food they serve back at home. The staff is awesome. They know me by my name. They care alot about the military and give us discounts. It is always packed which is obviously good for their business. I recommend this place to anyone who likes fresh bagels or just looking for a good all around lunch!

  • Scott Y.

Simply the best bagels in town. I have been going here for 3 years, and I don't know what I will do without the place. I try not to eat there everyday but each morning the bagels call out and at lunch the sandwiches are enough for three unless you order the 1/4 pounders. All meats are Boars Head and are piled high. Over the years there have been order snafus but with the sheer number of people in that place I can accept it. Keep an eye out for the lesser known but extremely tasty cinnamon rolls and chocolate chip cookies.

Popular place. Good enough food but styrofoam plates and cups.

  • Adam S.

I guess maybe the glowing reviews here have to do with the fact that it's basically the only game in town. Don't get me wrong, the bagels are pretty good and they have a nice selection. But the stoner staff they have working in there seems to get the orders right about 50% of the time. Also, someone explain to me how a "ny style" bagel and deli spot is closed on Sundays. I mean c'mon!

  • Jenn M.

The bagels at this place are really good! I had a breakfast sandwich on a poppyseed bagel and it was amazing!! A little out of the way for us, but when we find ourselves on that side of town, it's always a good place to stop.

  • James H.

Outstanding! I finally found a bagel-deli shop that is worthy of NYC's bagel shops. From the moment I walked in the door the smell of bagels hit me in the face. Very good.

Great restaurant for breakfast/lunch/brunch. I ordered the french dip sandwich to go. The meal came with chips, pickle, and pasta salad (cookie was another option). First thing I noticed, the place was packed! There weren't any tables open. Hey, I'll wait for good food. A bunch of lil old ladies with northern accents= a good sign. When my order was ready, they gave a HUGE bag! The sandwich was great, and I made two meals out of it. I definitely want to try the bagels out next time. Simple and good food at reasonable cost. Probably as close as you'll get to NYC food in the deep south.

This the second time I've been to this deli and it...is...awesome! The first time I had the Tuna melt with provolone on honey wheat=delicious. This time my girl had it on sourdough with cheddar= delicious. I had the Reuben and it was pretty good; probably would have been better on a different bread than rye. Either way, you need to dig into one of these sandwiches. My next conquest is a breakfast bagel!

    (4)
  • Neil h.

Its pretty good. One thing they really exceeded my expectations with was their Ruben. Every deli I go I get a Ruben. This one wasn't greasy, there was tons of meat and they didn't go overboard on the 1000 island dressing. The sauerkraut was also better than most. Its not the best, just the best in Savannah. If you're in the Savannah area and craving a good sandwich this is a place to keep in mind. Bagels are pretty great too.

    (4)
  • Shireen B.

Around these parts, it's a good bagel. (And this is coming from a New Yorker who ate bagels every week in high school. Don't judge me.) hehe, it's not as flavorful as a NY Bagel (I had the blueberry) but, it'll do. I'll let you know if I change my mind after another kind...Yes, I'm curious. Aren't you?

    (4)
  • Robert C.

Wow. Really, really good bagels. It probably wasn't the best idea to go with a poppy-seed bagel the same week I got my wisdom teeth out, but, whatever. Totally worth it. A bagel with plain cream cheese starts at $2.00; a bit of variety is going to cost you just a few cents more. Friendly, helpful service. Roomy, with plenty of seating. I'll definitely be back for lunch sometime.

I have to agree with other reviewers in saying that this really is the best kept secret in midtown. Working in the area, I eat lunch at the midtown deli quite frequently. The portions are huge, and the food is really fresh. I love their reuben. My wife (being from New York), says thank god for midtown deli, otherwise she would have no other place to get a decent bagel in the morning..

For some reason this restaurant shows up when I searched kosher Savannah and I want to warn future customers who keep kosher - this is NOT a kosher place, go somewhere else!

  • Cheryl S.

Yeah, it's just a deli, but it deserves every star. This hidden jewel is THE place to go on the southside for REAL bagels. The Russian owner KNOWS how to make authentic chewy bagels, which I haven't had since Eli's on Habersham closed. The spreads are incredible as well--creamy, delicious: I recommend the spinach, the lox and the vegetable spreads--on one of their toasted bagels it's pure heaven! Went in a couple of months ago because I was craving a Reuben and wanted to try someplace besides The Exchange (my usual haven for them). This sandwich is incredible! Huge! At least a pound of thinly sliced corned beef on fresh deli rye--wrapped in paper then cut in half, New York style, served with 3 sides--excellent potato salad, tasty coleslaw and a kosher dill--all for around 10 bucks. Divine! They close at 2pm so get there ahead of time. Service is pleasant, everything I've gotten there was fresh, well-made and delicious!

I just discovered this place the other day. I have now been two days in a row! If you like bagel sandwhiches this is the place to go. I am the type of person who likes a sandwhich or sub for lunch. This store has now made my rotation list. The tuna was good (if you're a fan), the turkey is good. My wife loved the chicken salad, and the menu is packed with many other greats. It's nice to have a piece of the north transplanted to the south. Pretty reasonable prices as well. Absolutely worth the trip from where ever you are.

Legit deli...bagels are proper. With a hubby from NY, we are always looking for a place 'like home' and Midtown didn't disappoint. Bagels = perfect crust and crumb. Coffee = good variety and for a black coffee/espresso drinker...I was content. :) Sandwiches = try the Havana (yes, really) or the Midtown. Didn't have room for a cannoli but they are made in house, just like everything else. :) kudos Midtown...
