This little Mexican restaurant in Sandfly is a pretty good place to eat. Our service has always been prompt, though not overly friendly, and the food has always been good. My boyfriend's parents eat here at least once a week, and I usually eat here once whenever I'm in town. The decor inside is above average for a Mexican restaurant, and the place itself is only a few years old.

The place to go if you want quick, tasty Mexican food in Sandfly. Never a long wait, bring the kids! Try the texas margarita, tell them its your birthday & try the tacos carne asada. Always a good choice!

I go to Jalapenos often for lunch because they are cheap, quick, and consistent. I would not call there food exceptional or great but it is good and well worth the price. I am giving it three stars because it is above average but once again not great.

Food was dissapointing. I had a fajita with pork but it was over- spiced with something...maybe allspice? Chicken & beef had no taste. Shrimps was small and so-so. Not a fan and would not return.

Our waiter messed up our order and the food was really bad. Wouldn't recommend going.

Had a nice meal here while in town. Definitely a local place, but the food was very good, and the service was excellent. We had a short wait on a Friday night, but it was worth it.

Chips were fresh, salsa had a nice tang to it, and absolutely the best shrimp quesadilla I've had anywhere in the country! Service is fast and friendly, portions are huge, and prices are very reasonable. It does get busy and people were parked all over the place, including on the road shoulder. Tr to go mid-afternoon before the rush.

This is one of my favorite lunch and dinner spots. The food is cheap, the service is always fast, and the quality of the food is consistent. I won't call it elegant eating, or a 4 star restaurant, but it's a good family restaurant.

Quick, dirt cheap, and tasty. That basically sums up what Jalapenos is about. No, it's not super authentic Mexican (though the place *is* owned and run by people that are actually Mexican, so I'm not going to question the authenticity too much). But the food is always well seasoned and consistently tastes good. Your standard burritos-tacos-nachos-quesadillas, but done well. Not to mention the fact that it's generally around 5 bucks for a lunch special and thereabouts of 7 for a dinner combination. And believe me, the portions are generous. You're not going to hear me complain! Good margaritas too! The house margarita is always respectably strong and, you guessed it, it's dirt cheap. This particular location is very similar to theothers in terms of fare and atmosphere, but the crowd is completely different. As you might expect, given the location in Sandfly, the place is frequented by families and groups of high school kids moreso than the rowdy groups of twenty-somethings that are just there for the margaritas a la Abercorn Jalapenos. Oh yeah, and *definitely* watch out for the church crowd on Sunday. Generally, I'm not even awake during the height of it (11:30-noon), but I hear the waits can get pretty bad. I always get a decent rise out of waltzing in there hung over in my clothes from the night before while everyone else is eats cheap Mexican food in church clothes. lol.

Best Jalapenos location in Savannah. The one on Whitemarsh Island tends to be stuffy and have bad service since they're constantly changing staff, and the food isn't that great. This location has a more laidback atmosphere, the servers are friendly, and the food is always good. A great place to go for happy hour!

I received a huge bowl of salsa and chips when I sat down. I was able to order a lunch special on Saturday before 3:30 that was $5. I had a taco, burrito and rice and it was really good. The margarita I had was yummy. I will eat here again for sure!

Great food great fast service. We has the Arroz texano (steak strip) and pollo norteno. The one margarita really topped it off. The parking was packed on a weekday but for good reason. Awesome.

The chips were a little weak and the salsa was a bit spicy for my taste. The rice was served cold and the lunch fajitas had no flavor. What really got me were the three staff members who just stood diagonal to my table and talked about how much they didn't want to work. They were also bad mouthing customers, loud enough for anybody sitting nearby to hear. Overall displeased with this location. Staff members just popped into that corner to chill out, it seemed, to text, talk, and otherwise not work. Only decent thing was the price...

It was ok... It's very difficult to be different and stand out as a Mexican Joint. It all tastes the same. Service was average. Nothing about our tall guy was memorable in any way. Waited for some refills a couple times, everyone else (5 others in our group) got their food and I had to wait another 6 min to get my fajita. Place is cramped and LOUD. Conversations by the drunk bar are NOT family/little kid approved. I wanted to move tables but couldn't. Overall, average in every way. Doubt we will be back when we visit savannah again.

The food is good, but if you're from out west it's not what you'd expect. We went here because our friends said this was the best Mexican restaurant in the area. I would have to agree, but it's nothing like it is back home. It's also a little bit expensive, and it's always packed.

Mexican Cuisine

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.
