I've been hesitant to review this place- i've been coming to stay at the Dresser Palmer for over 7 years. Between trips with my family, husband, etc I have stayed here over 14 nights! We always looked forward to returning to Savannah partly because we loved the DPH so much. For this reason, we decided to book a family holiday trip and stayed here over the Christmas week of 2013 (about 4-5 months ago). The inn is under new management/ownership and things just are NOT the same. There always used to be very friendly people running the place- they would always talk to you about where and what to eat, fun activities, local happenings, etc. But now that's not really the case. Also, they did make an exception for our dogs to stay, although they are not dog friendly. This kind of turned into a bit of a nightmare, when the innkeeper's girlfriend Emily was around. She had frantically mentioned the dogs were heard scratching at the door when we were gone. She told me she was really concerned so i offered to show her the inside of the room. She said no. Why not just come see that there is no damage or issue and put it to rest? There's a long story involved with things like this happening the entire stay. If they were uncomfortable, then they should have just not let the dogs stay. Mid-stay, which was xmas eve day, Emily insisted we board the dogs somewhere, but there were no openings that last minute. Colin and Tim were the only saving graces this place had. They made bfast each morning, and all the food was great. They were sweet and helpful when around. They also mentioned Emily has a very bad tendency to over react, and said they had been alone with the dogs for multiple days with NO ISSUES at all. It was a relief to have both of them there after Emily had made us extremely uncomfortable. The rooms had old TVs, and i know there are so many things to do in Savannah, but does that mean you can't enjoy TV in bed before passing out? This week there was literally not even a local channel working- my entire family thought this was a little crazy- especially at over 230$ per night! Another issue we had was NO housekeeping/room cleaning over the holiday week. They must have that issue often, as i see that complaint on other yelp reviews. We brought this to their attention, and they ended up giving a one night credit on an 8 night stay. Not too impressive. Sadly, i will not be staying at the DPH going forward. There are too many other gorgeous B&Bs in Savannah to waste time here- although it never used to be like this!

This was my first B&B experience and I loved it! My BF was lucky enough to secure the Wisteria room which is amazing! The exposed brick walls, gas fireplace, awesome 4-poster bed, and large bathroom are perfectly romantic and cozy. The staff was friendly and helpful and we loved our nightly "social" hour of wine, cheese, and apps. We only made it breakfast one morning (sleep called) but the breakfast was quite good, although a bit later than expected. The one hiccup was lack of housekeeping. Since it was over the holidays, apparently they didn't have enough staff and we didn't get our room cleaned until about 6pm one evening but it worked out in the end. A second minor complaint was lack of hot water in our shower (lukewarm) which was a shame since we had a gigantic shower and I had looked forward to it. It's hard to complain about 200 year old houses, I know, I know. Overall, I highly recommend the Dresser-Palmer. The location is a bit outside the historic district but it's a nice walk down to it and you can enjoy the beautiful homes and squares on the way. Maybe I'll become a B&B afficianado now!

I didn't hate this place, but I didn't love it either. I guess I just felt like I didn't get my money's worth. My boyfriend & I stayed in the Wisteria for 3 nights over Memorial Day weekend. The bad: I was a little disappointed that the room didn't have any windows - it was in the basement. There was a dehumidifier going that woke us up the first night when it got full. It started beeping loudly like an alarm clock. That was a rude awakening. We remembered to empty it before bed our remaining two nights. My boyfriend got poison ivy at the private entrance to the room that faces Gaston, so be careful using that door if you stay in the Wisteria. It is down a very narrow stairway; he must have scraped his arm against it because that's where he got it. We only partook of the breakfast the first morning we were there. Mainly, due to what I'd call a coffee crisis; but also because the food was served cold and amounted to mediocrity. When we arrived, the other guests had sucked down all the coffee, the creamer was empty and we had to request a new pot be made. While I dug around in the refrigerator to locate more 1/2-n-1/2, the Mr. Coffee 12-cup coffee pot dribbled & sputtered out coffee at a rate I have not seen since 1995. I felt like I was waiting on dial up internet. I cannot believe an establishment of this caliber has not invested in a commercial grade coffee machine - or at least a Keurig, for God's sake. Some modern conveniences, please. Speaking of, we had no wireless in the Wisteria. No cable either. The wireless issue was due to us being, like, in a cave. The cable issue was throughout the inn, though, we discovered. We were told there hadn't been any cable all week, but they were working on it. We are people who like to fall asleep with the TV on, so this was a major inconvenience, as far as I'm concerned. I mean, I know this is a historic inn, but do we have to live like it's 1876 while we're staying there? Finally, because the Wisteria is under the dining room (or the bar, we couldn't decide - but in the vicinity of the dining room, anyway), we were awakened to what sounded like a stampede of baby elephants each morning as guests eagerly arrived for the cold breakfast fare and scarce coffee rations. The good: On the plus side, the room was kept very clean and floral smelling by the cleaning lady, Janice, who we really appreciated. She gave us beach towels one day when she saw us leaving for Tybee Island. The bed was comfortable, and the bathroom was spacious and very nice (especially the shower). Notwithstanding the dehumidifier debacle the first night and our a.m. baby elephant "alarm", we slept very well. One of the things I enjoyed the most during my stay was sitting on the front porch with a glass of wine for the complimentary happy hour. The street and setting is really beautiful. They have an honor system bar which we utilized outside of social hour, and I'm pretty sure they comped us at least 1 or 2 drinks. Anna, who was one of the hostesses, was very friendly and had lots of good suggestions about where to eat and so forth. She was knowledgeable about the area and we liked her. We had a really fun and relaxing time in Savannah. In all, the Dresser Palmer was a decent stay, but not worth the $230/night. Honestly, it is unlikely I will book here again when I return to Savannah.

Absolutely adored the southern hospitality & feel at the Dresser Palmer House! We stayed in the Wisteria room which was more secluded and had 2 private entrances off of the house which was nice if returning late! Breakfast was to die for! My fiance has a peanut allergy and they made sure to ask of any allergies, restrictions, and even your dislikes to prepare! Loved more of the at-home feel with being at a bed and breakfast that only had a handful of guests vs a busy hotel! The staff was phenomenal when my fiance and I got engaged on vacation and even left a bottle of champagne with glasses & a congratulatory note in the room for us! Never wanted to leave!!!

This was our first time ever at a Bed & Breakfast, and it could not have gone better. We arrived in the middle of the week and found out that we were the only people staying there until the weekend, so they decided to upgrade us to a nicer room. Every night, they have a social/happy hour where they provide you with wine and snacks (cookies, cheeses, crackers, fruits). We were the only ones there, and they were always asking us what they could get or provide for us. The social hour was great, and we looked forward to it every day of our stay. The breakfast every morning was delicious and ready for us when we came downstairs. We had egg dishes, pancakes, fruits, coffee, tea, etc. It was amazing! The Dresser Palmer House is gorgeous, the staff is very friendly, and it is right in the historic district. We will definitely stay here for my next trip to Savannah.

This place! My husband and I stayed at the Dresser Palmer House for our honeymoon in 2014. Neither of us had stayed in a B&B before but we were so enraptured with the beauty of the inn as well as the outstanding performance of the staff, that we decided to celebrate our first anniversary there as well. We were definitely not disappointed the second time around either. They do a fun wine & cheese social every evening too! From the helpful restaurant & site-seeing tips, to the fantastic breakfasts, to a staff member giving us her umbrella so we wouldn't get caught in the rain. We have such a wonderful stay every time and look forward to many more in the future.

Dresser Palmer was commended to me by a friend and I am sure that it was well intentioned. I need to be in a hotel that has an elevator that works. It didn't when I made my reservation, but I was assured that it would be fixed three months hence. It wasn't working consistently thus causing pain when I had to walk up stairs. The room we booked, not modestly priced had a cramped bedroom and a shower room that was almost as big as the bedroom. The air conditioning didn't work the first night. I was fixed by the second and a small adjustment was made to my bill. There was breakfast served that can be best described as non descript. As I said in the title, DISAPPOINTING.

Simply great. Beautiful old Savannah charm with great service. Exactly what we had hopes for and more. Can't recommend highly enough.

Savannah is a beautiful city, and there are a number of beautiful and exceptional B&B's there as well. The Dresser Palmer House, without a doubt, must be included in the latter. Everything about the home had the period charm and flavor you would expect. Our room was no exception...well except for the bathroom...thank heavens it was up-dated and NOT of the period !! Our room had a window/door (typical of the time as it were) that opened out to a semi-private back veranda...a great place to relax. Eating a delicious breakfast and meeting our fellow guests was delightful, as was the end-of-day wine and Hor d'Oeuvres served in the parlor. Yes, I highly recommend The Dresser Palmer House for all the things I just mentioned, but even more so because of the staff....Kolin, Anna, Meagan and Janice. Everything from suggestions, directions, bookings, and so much more, each and every one of them was there to help and make our stay even more fun and enjoyable. I don't write reviews..in fact this is only my 2nd one, period, but I think it is warranted. Tom & Leslie, Pleasanton, CA

I honestly don't even know where to start with this review. I purchased our stay at the Dresser Palmer House as a surprise for my wife for Christmas. She had told me that she wanted to go somewhere warmer (Upstate NY in February is not the ideal climate for either of us) so I told her to pick a weeekend and I would do the rest. We had both always wanted to go to Savannah, so when this popped up on LivingSocial, I jumped at the chance. We arrived at the Dresser Palmer House on the afternoon of Friday, February 7th. Finding parking was very easy as we were able to secure a spot just around the corner from the Inn. On our first pass-by, we noticed how big and beautiful the inn truly was and how the pictures on the website simply do not do the exterior justice. Turns out that the inn actually has the longest Southern Style porch in the Southeast. Absolutely beautiful. Scheduled to stay until Sunday morning, February 9th, check in was a breeze and we were informed by the innkeeper, Sarah, that they had just begun 'Social Hour,' where we were given a free glass of wine each, hors d'oeuvres, and the opportunity to socialize with all of the other folks staying in the inn. We ran upstairs to our room, quickly changed, and headed downstairs to meet the other guests. Everyone staying at the inn was very friendly and as it was our first trip to Savannah, people suggested things to do, tours, and restaurants to visit before we went back home. It had a real genuine family-feel to it and made you feel very welcome in Savannah listening to everyone talk about their day. Sarah, the innkeeper, gave us a ton of suggestions of things to do while in Savannah to ensure that our stay was as action packed as it could possibly be. After Social Hour, we headed back up to our room (the Samuel Palmer) to prepare for dinner, an 8:30 reservation at the Olde Pink House Restaurant (which I have also reviewed on Yelp). It was at that moment that we really started to soak it all in. A beautiful bedroom with gorgeous furnishings, walk-out windows to a private balcony with rocking chairs, and a mid-sized TV that we never turned on during our entire stay (as an aside, I did see that there was a low-star review that centered around the TV not being an LCD TV and not having cable. My advice is that if you're looking to stay somewhere to watch TV in Savannah, pick a cheap budget friendly motel. Chances are if you're traveling just to watch TV, the Dresser Palmer House isn't for you). A huge bathroom with a two-person claw foot tub and a large shower and yet another walk out window onto that beautiful private balcony. The bed was comfortable and had a lot of pillows. The room was well heated and clearly well maintained by the staff. We really couldn't have asked for much more as far as the room was concerned. The next morning, we dressed and went downstairs for an 8:30 AM traditional Southern Breakfast. Again, it had the same family-feel of Social Hour the night before. Everyone discussed what they were going to do that day as well as touched on a few other topics as families or very close friends truly would. Sports, politics, current events, history...nothing was off limits. Breakfast was delicious. Huevos Ranchers with Potatoes, Coffee or Tea, and the fruit juice of your choice. It was from 8:30-9:30 and you got the sense that when 9:30 rolled around, nobody really wanted to get up and let the next breakfast crew get seated. We had such an excellent time in such great company that we really didn't want it to end. Unfortunately, it had to end. We had a jam packed Saturday before we came back for Social Hour (where a newer crowd had begun to shuffle in). We walked out our walk-out windows and sat on our rocking chairs on the private balcony watching smoke fill the sky (a tire warehouse had caught fire earlier in the day and seemed to burn for almost 10 hours) before dressing for our final night out in Savannah. We went to dinner at Leoci's Trattoria (reviewed that on Yelp, too), right around the corner from the Inn. We went on a walking ghost tour where we learned about many of the hauntings that take place on a nightly basis in , and went to sleep. Sunday morning we left at 6 AM for our 15+ hour drive home with smiles on our faces and memories that will undoubtedly last a lifetime. Upon our return to Savannah, whenever that may be, we both agree that we will stay at Dresser Palmer again.

We had the pleasure of staying at the Dresser Palmer House for our first anniversary. What a treat! The inn is comprised of two homes built side by side, with a shared front gallery and back common areas. We stayed in the Emma Kelly room, a suite on the second floor of the Palmer wing. The inn is well maintained and furnished in period pieces with the exception of the amazingly comfortable king-size bed. The bathroom was really special- updated and fully tiled in marble with a walk-in two person shower and a sweet claw-foot tub. So luxurious! The room also had an entrance off the back porch- a shared area yet a private little retreat. The grounds are lush and well maintained, and the inn is well managed by Shannon and David, who greeted us upon our arrival. They serve a great breakfast and a wine and cheese social hour in the evening. We truly enjoyed the warm hospitality! We really enjoyed the walks through the historic area, the squares and the park. The Dresser Palmer House is located a short walk from Forsyth Park and was the perfect base for a great weekend in Savannah. Go and enjoy!

We stayed here last year and simply loved it. This inn evokes quintessential Savannah. It is well located and historically significant. While "historically significant" can mean that the rooms and amenities are dated - that is NOT the case with Dresser Palmer House. The rooms are done wonderfully - without feeling like you are staying at grandma's house. The layout of the property is also lovely. It's is a beautiful oasis in the heart of Savannah. The staff was warm and welcoming and we enjoyed meeting friends and having a cocktail in the common areas. We will be heading back to Savannah in November for a quick get-away and I know we will be coming back and staying here it was so lovely. Can't wait!

This isn't the kind of B&B that you will find yourself staring at doilies. Nor is it the kind that you will find flower wallpaper-puke thrown all over the walls. No, this is a B&B with classic southern charm. And... maybe if you are lucky, more than you bargained for. We didn't arrive in Savannah as ghost-seekers. We had no idea Savannah was the most haunted town in America! The experience at the Dresser-Palmer house were minimal, but nonetheless entertaining and a good place to start your Savannah experience!

Staying at the Dresser Palmer house is like going to Savannah and staying with family. I traveled to Savannah this past weekend to attend my best friend's wedding which was being held at the Dresser Palmer house. I had never stayed at a bed and breakfast before so I was really excited to have this new experience. Since the wedding was being held at the B&B it was really convenient to stay there and keep up with all the wedding festivities. My room (the Oglethorpe) was gorgeous and roomy. I especially loved the updated bathroom with the rain water shower head. The linens on the bed were soft and comfy as was the bed itself. The TV was a little outdated but I didn't have time to really watch TV so it didn't matter. I am guessing most people on a Savannah vacation won't have too much time spend watching TV either because the city is so rich in history and there is so much to explore. Since my friend rented the entire B&B for her wedding I was able to scope out a few of the other rooms as well. The Mercer suite on the opposite side of the house is stunning with a large king size bed and sitting area. The Emma Kelly room offers a double shower and a door that goes directly to the veranda above the garden. And the Samuel Palmer room has an amazing four poster bed and also offers a gorgeous bath. I cannot say enough about the staff at the Dresser Palmer house. They are so warm, inviting and willing to help in whatever way they can to make your stay as great as possible. The food they prepare is amazing. I enjoyed both breakfasts thoroughly and the food they had at the wedding ceremony was amazing. The staff went above and beyond in making sure everyone was comfortable and had everything we needed during our stay. Their attention to detail in preparation for the wedding was great. They set up everything that was needed for the outdoor ceremony in the garden and even offered suggestions on the best way for the bridal party to enter the ceremony area. We went through the Emma Kelly room and down the staircase into the garden. Thanks so much to Allison at the Dresser Palmer house for this suggestion since our original plan was to walk down the alley behind the house and then into the garden area. Overall the wedding turned out gorgeous and everyone had an amazing time. The only con about the B&B is that it was really warm in some of the upper rooms. My room stayed relatively cool but many others were really warm. That being said it is July in Savannah and its impossible to keep a house of 1100 square feet cool in every single room. Every room I went in had a ceiling fan which was great, it definitely helped keep my room nice and comfortable. I would definitely consider staying at the Dresser Palmer House again if I find myself traveling back to Savannah.

We had an awesome stay at The Dresser Palmer House in The James Oglethorpe room. I loved being in the main part of the house at the top of the stairs. It was so cozy, yet classy and I really felt like I was time traveling each night as we climbed the beautiful staircase to our room. Waking up and smelling coffee early in the morning was a bonus! Enjoying wine and cheese in the evening out back by the fountain was definitely a highlight for me. Leslie was a fantastic host/innkeeper! SO friendly and SO knowledgeable about the the area. She would always stop whatever she was doing to attend to the guests. Our next trip is already booked and we can't wait to go back! Excellent place!!

I cannot say enough nice things about the Dresser Palmer. Maybe the best way to explain how much I love this place is to say that after celebrating our engagement here we came back and got married in the house. We had the ceremony out back in the garden area and then had the reception inside. The reception food was amazing - guests raved about it all night long. Once again, the staff was phenomenal and took care of all the little details. I have an incredible amount of faith in the staff and trust their judgement to be just as good, if not better, than my own. The Dresser Palmer was the perfect place for our wedding - I cannot imagine having such a spectacular time any other place.

My husband and I recently spent our minimoon in Savannah at the Dresser Palmer House. This was our first time staying at a B&B so we didn't know what to expect, but we LOVED the Dresser Palmer!! The staff was so nice, welcoming & informative. One of my favorite parts of the trip was sitting on the porch in one of the rocking chairs drinking a glass of wine during the social hour. It was such a peaceful and relaxing time. We loved Savannah and the Dresser Palmer and would recommend it to anyone and everyone :)
