This is a really cute shop. They let you sample as many different cookie flavors as you want (I think some people were taking this to an extreme) I sampled three different kinds, all were great. We also bought a packet that makes really awesome dig for shrimp, we love it. Overall, definately worth stopping by and checking it out! Will be back!

Not sure where everyone else went, but this is a well structured and organized establishment. The dining room is completely separate from the gift shop and production area. The menu overpriced the sides, but the entree I had left me feeling like whatever... It was soo good!! Our waitress was enthusiastic, polite, and changed our whole mood. She helped complete the meal with a sample plate full of delicious cookie varieties baked in house. The boutique style gift shop was packed with a neat variety of items. We took the time to look at everything. There wasn't anything that didn't meet the same standards as all of the other aspects of the establishment (fine, unique wines, all kinds of different cookies, kitchenware, etc...). Needless to say, we spent money.

I am a cookie connoisseur. My beau and I paid The Cookie Bar a visit on a recent visit to Savannah. The shop is so very cute, it's awning quotes a very sacred proverb ("May Your Cookie Jar Never Be Empty") unfortunately that's all the charm this shop has to offer. I was scolded by an older blonde cookie-tender (perhaps, heaven help me, the owner) after I checked the fridge under the self service coffee bar for cream. The employee was standing behind the cash register and yelled at me as other customers were meandering near by. I was so mortified by her snapping at me that I can't remember exactly what she said, but it was so cutting that I felt like I was a dog being told to stay off the furniture. I know what you're thinking, "Why didn't she ask someone if there was any cream?" The answer: I tried. After trying for 5 minutes to get the attention of a cookie-tender I realized I wasn't going to get help from either cookiere and took a peek for myself. Both my boyfriend and I were so turned off by the curtness that she displayed that we immediately left. We visited Sweet Caroline's Cup Cake shop around the corner. The coffee was delicious, so were the cupcakes, and our barista was super kind and a true gentlemen. My suggestion: skip the cookies, go for the cake.

They should stick with cookies... My experience at the Cookie Bar was honestly awful. The place looks stellar, but the food and service don't match up. I ordered a pork sandwich that was VERY dry. My friends also complained that their meals were dry and not very flavorful. The "fresh" baked bread was terrible and weird. I have had lots of good ciabattas, brioches, and other good breads but this was honestly crumby/ bone-dry. Not only was the food bad, the service was even worse. We had to get up to refill our drinks. At the end of the meal, we asked our waitress for the bill, and we didn't get it for 35 minutes after it had been requested. Me and another friend had to leave the bill with our friend so we wouldn't be late back to work.

My mom and I were going to visit Byrd's Cookie Company and quickly realized things had changed. Byrd Cookie Company now hosts a restaurant AND a cooke bar. We went into the cookie shop which is filled with Savannah trinkets and hostess gifts. At the back of the shop is a cookie bar where a sales associate will assist you as you taste the different kinds of cookies they have. The staff were helpful and pleasant. The environment was a bit crowded and overwhelming with all of the different items for purchase. Finally, there were two office spaces that opened out onto the sales floor that were overrun with papers and office equipment. It just didn't quite "make" the shop look the way it was supposed to - I kind of wished they had had curtains to hide this space away. Otherwise, if you're picking up a tin of cookies to send to a friend or trinkets to host a dinner party with this is the place to go!

I had heard recently that Byrd Cookie Company had opened a restaurant inside their Cookie showroom, so I figured I'd check out. I had my grandmother with me, whose culinary palette is quite exquisite. We arrived at 11 am when they first started serving lunch. The restaurant is in the showroom, so while you're eating there are people walking around shopping. While it's unique, it tends to be a bit distracting. The decor in the place was fairly chic and modern. Our server greeted us politely and with a smile. She brought us a bottle of chilled water and 2 glasses along with some cheddar bites. The menu's were already on the table. The cheddar bites were good, and spicy. If you don't like spicy food, don't eat them. The heat in the spicy element (which I'm going to assume was red pepper) gave the cheddar bite a nice contrast. The menu was short and simple, yet quite nice. It was a good selection of choices, yet it didn't overwhelm with complexity. My grandmother ordered the seasonal creamed cauliflower soup, and I had the thin sliced roast beef sandwich. She stated the soup was the best she'd ever had. It was very creamy with a good, balanced flavor. My sandwich was also quite delicious. It was served with 3 pickle slices, and the fact that they were fresh and made in house was evident. They were delicious. If they canned them on site I would have bought them. The sandwich was nicely presented and plated. The roast beef was fairly tender, and juicy. The shaved gruyere, peppernata, and horseradish cream sauce worked quite well together. The homemade bread was grilled and a little tough, but had a good flavor. On a nice note, our food was out to us in less than 15 minutes from the time we ordered it, cooked to order, and all plated nicely. Overall it was a good experience and I plan on going back to this restaurant to sample more off the menu. The 2 meals we had came to $18, which wasn't bad, as the portion was filling. I highly recommend this restaurant, especially if you are looking for a new dining experience in Savannah. Sadly, they only offer a lunch service, but they are talking about adding a diner service. The front of house manager was friendly and polite and sought input from diners on their experience. It is something that seems to be lacking in some other more famous dining spots in Savannah. I gave it 4 stars because I felt the restaurant should have been a bit more segregated from the shopping area, but the food was good, and the staff very friendly and polite.
