I was suppose to have a dining experience at Chive but instead I was pretty much refused service and rushed by servers and management after my party was seated. I wouldn't recommend Chive to an enemy, worst customer service, dining experience ever

Went for the second time last night with my boyfriend. We had stopped by Hangfire for the Happy Hour special and I convinced my that he had to try Chive. He was a little wary because of the way the restaurant/bar looks from outside, but felt better once he sat down at the bar. I guess sparkles and mirrors are intimidating! He got a sidecar to drink and I ordered the rosemary and lavender... Which was unavailable! I gave the bartender a hard time about it, but he made me an equally nice lychee martini so I can't be mad. We ordered the beef tataki, which my wary boyfriend absolutely loved! It was an amazingly well done dish. If you're looking for a little something to split that is light and flavorful then that is something to try! Overall, it was an awesome experience and I am excited to have converted my boyfriend to a fan of the place! Side note: order the rosemary and lavender martini if you want a light drink. The cheese plate is also great!

Classy, hip decor. Excellent service. Eclectic menu. Convenient location. What more can I ask for? I enjoyed my plate of very fresh sashimi. We parked a few short blocks away, in a city-owned parking garage for $1 an hour (evenings). We went for a late dinner on a Wednesday night with no wait; I imagine it might be difficult to get a table on weekends or during dinner hour.

Showed up at 10:30 in Oct. They wouldn't seat us at the tables just to drink even though 12/16 tables were empty and everyone else was crowded into the bar. We sat outside as the waitress spilled a glass of water all over my wife. Ok fine, there are accidents. However, they didn't offer any restitution (free drink after getting soaked???). Fine so 2 choices, don't seat people with empty tables and now soak us without regret. I'm not one of those people trying to make a point by not tipping. I would have still left 10% after this. Even the worst service has gotten 10% by me for 5 years. Then the waiter comes out and tells us we are welcome to return anytime but if we just want to drink we could sit at the bar (HELLO, the bar was full!!! now it is empty because everyone was sick of your crap). Even funnier, we just randomly walked by the next morning. The hostess was outside trying to get people in for Sunday brunch and doing a great job of it. I just laughed at her.

Had a nice lunch at this spot with a Roaring 20s ambiance. Seafood was excellent. Staff was welcoming and generally attentive.

My fiancé and I have been here a few times. The bar area is beautiful and the ambiance here is very nice. The restaurant is small and intimate. The side booths have curtains to separate the tables make it feel very intimate but you are still looking out over the entry. They do not take reservations but we have called to get priority seating. The food is very nice. Small portions but very well done. Regrettably last time I was there I had ordered the risotto and is was kind of gluey, they had left it to long. However, we brought this to the waitresses attention and she quickly offered another meal and credited the first. They immediately took care of the issue. Every other time the food is perfect.

Chive was exactly what I was hoping for. I'm in Savannah for a wedding and needed a moment for a cocktail and oyster getaway. I found Chive and was pleasantly surprised by their amazing ambiance and service. The Bohemian is a great cocktail, their blue points were delicious. Thanks Savannah!

We came here forth of July at 9pm. We decided to sit at the bar. Stephanie and Jonathan were fantastic. Drinks were good, service was great, and the food was on point to our bartender's recommendation. Very pleased. Ambiance was on point, the food reflected the same quality.

Rating this a 4, but if our server showed even a little interest in us it would've been 5. Didn't know what to expect, but we like trying new places on vacation and the food did not disappoint. We walked in and immediately felt under dressed. It's a very nice place. Clean, great design. The graphic designer in me loved the menu, the descriptions on some things were just a little vague. My wife and I got there around 630, and were seated immediately by a very friendly host. However our appearance must've sent the wrong message because the server did seem to do the bare minimum for us and had almost zero interaction besides taking our order. We ordered the beef carpaccio appetizer, which was phenomenal. Probably the best I've ever had. I had Chilean sea bass over the spinach and tomato orzo. It was presented beautifully and tasted as good. My wife had the stuffed sea bass and really enjoyed hers as well. Good experience, we'll go back for sure.

My family and I had such a great time here. We were looking for some really good seafood and this place kind of had a cool twist on each dish so we decided to check it out. the calamari was nice and plump and not overloaded with breading. my dad got the prawn risotto, and the prawns were huge. He loved it and he's not easily impressed. my mother also loved her tuna entree. I only got a salad but it was the best I've ever had haha mango, strawberries, grapes, avocado and walnuts. yum. desserts were great as well. Decor of the restaurant was very modern and unique also. loved that they had pillows on the booths. Our server, Dave, was excellent. he was very excited to tell us all about the dishes and told us his favorites as well. I would definitely like to visit this place again

Had dinner here for a double date. They seated us toward the back and away from the windows which I enjoyed since set a romance feel and made us feel like we didn't have a audience. I had the mussels as my app which is gluten free (yay) and was served in a yummy curry and coconut milk with tomatoes and shared the raw 12pc oysters with my date which were good as well. I don't remember what kind they were I just remember telling them I didn't want to be eating salt water. For dinner I had their seared sea scallops with veggies. They did edited my dish and make it without soy sauce so it was gluten free friendly and it still tastes great! The wait staff were super helpful and I loved how they went out of their way to correspond with the kitchen on how things were made to make sure I could eat it. They had a nice selection of speciality drinks but I stuck with white wine. My date had the stuffed sea bass with mushroom risotto from what I could see he really enjoyed it and my girlfriend had the stuffed lobster. I will be going back!

Had a late dinner at Chive on my trip to Savannah and was very impressed. Our server, Elizabeth, did a great job describing the menu and addressing my many questions. I ended up going with the scallop skewers and a side of risotto. My dining companion went with the steak skewers, risotto, and crab soup. We sampled each other's dishes and loved everything we tried. Each dish was perfectly seasoned and prepared. The ambiance and service at Chive also take it to the next level for me. Elizabeth was a constant fixture at our cozy table. I loved the twenties vibe this spot embodies, it's an intimate place to enjoy a dinner with friends and as far as I'm concerned a must visit in Savannah.

Seriously the most fantastic place I've eaten in the south... The restaurant is absolutely beautiful, service was fantastic, drinks were on point. I could not have asked for a better experience! I ordered the red snapper risotto with the recommended wine pairing, and it was outstanding. My husband got the scallops and she crab soup, which was delicious... Dessert was the creme brûlée vanilla bean cheesecake, which was ridiculously good!

Oh my gosh! If you want terrific seafood, great service, and cocktails, this is the place to go. The waiter was very informative, even asking him several questions (I always want to know when the fish was actually delivered to the restaurant). There was a party of 5 and after we ordered I changed my main course based on what I saw delivered at another table. It was no problem to change and I'm glad I did. Changed to the flash fried bass - an entire fish from head to toe and I ate the entire thing almost by myself - it was that good. All of the other dishes ordered were great too: Ahi tuna, fish stew (although a little spicy for me), buffalo steak, cook perfectly, and sea bass. YUM, YUM. It's the not the cheapest place but it is one of the best and I highly recommend it.

This is like the most beautiful restaurant I have ever been to! AND.... the food was great! Love! !! Really this is like designer had full reins and went crazy, but so beautiful! lol! Now the food.....we went for brunch and was so happy! I had the snapper risotto, my friend had the eggs benedict.....both were just heaven! I think mine was better...the fish cooked perfect and the risotto also cooked perfect with veggies and cheese and cream cooked in to it, oh I just loved it! I also got a cup of coffe and it was french press and delish!

We wanted to eat at Alligator Soul on the Saturday before St. Patrick's Day but it was no surprise they were booked. We passed Chive along the way and I knew right away this place would be our backup plan. Classy looking joint. We sat at the bar where our bartender Jonathan was on the money all night. Funny, professional, and clearly knew what he was doing. We started with the cutting board as an appetizer. The cheese was great, especially the bleu cheese, but for $15, some cured meat would have been a nice addition. Prosciutto or something? For dinner, we shared the lamb chop ($29) and the small portion of the ocean's five ($16). The temperature on the lamb was spot on at medium rare and the red curry sauce only added to its already awesome flavor. The ocean's five came with crab meat, scallops, mussels, shrimp and clams. The Gang Phet Talay broth was stunning and the noodles were cooked perfectly. Jonathan must have known I couldn't let the broth go to waste because he offered me some bread to soak up what was left toward the end of our meals. Even the bread was delicious, but of course it came with some pesto sauce, which created a dipping dilemma. We got a bottle of J Lohr cab with dinner. Not a bad mark up at $40 considering the cheapest I can find it for retail is about $13. Overall, this is a great spot to eat. Definitely a romantic place to take a date or to celebrate a special occasion.

We were on the street looking for a place for dinner. This was one of the place not close yet at 7:20. Was a little sad when we realize that happy hour was between 5 and 7pm. If it was happy hour the salad and soup was half price within entree. I got the buffalo tenderloin because they ran out of the Chilean sea bass. I was very sad about it. My seasonal veggies was a little tough.. :( Overall the food was good but too pricy for the proportion. I had to go over to Kayak kafe for a second dinner.

Best meal I've had in a long time. The ceviche is an amazingly flavorful experience. Not your standard ceviche, including strawberries and other fruit, but fantastic nonetheless. The Moscow Mule, with the perfect ratio of Grey Goose pear to ginger beer, is super smooth and refreshing. Our waiter - I think his name is Dave - was the best waiter we've had in a long time, maybe ever. He gave excellent recommendations based on what we were in the mood for. We will definitely be returning.

We passed by this place on Broughton St several times, and it was while shopping at Free People that a couple of gals recommended we have dinner at Chive. So, we did. The ambiance at Chive is really nice with a blue/silver/white color scheme. It feels really clean in here -- not cluttery at all. I like places that have this feel because my brain automatically transcends to a vision of a clean kitchen too. There were four in our group, and while the menu had something to offer everyone, we all had a tough time determining what to order. The menu descriptions were either not clear or not thorough at all. For example, they've got a section called Ping. Apparently Ping is presented on skewers and dressed in a house marinade. No where on the menu does it say that. There was what appeared to be a really good noodle dish, but after asking specific questions about it, we found out it was swimming in curry that was made with chicken broth even though it was a seafood dish. Our server explained that curry comes on MANY of their dishes even though it's not on the menu, and their curry is always made with chicken broth. I really liked the food here (though I should have ordered more of it, as I left hungry -- my fault!), but the menu is really challenging to get through because it is incomplete with no proper dish descriptions. You really don't know what you're going to get, so be sure to ask your server for a complete description before you settle on a menu item. Other than that, the service was ok -- we were ignored after we received our meals, which was really strange as they weren't packed. They were close to closing, so perhaps our server was taking on some closing duties and just forgot about us. Nevertheless, I'd return but perhaps check them out for lunch next time instead.

This place is simply amazing. The decor is glam and very Great Gatsby feeling. Plush seating with awesome patterns. The lighting and fixtures are breathtaking. The specialty drink and wine menu is extensive and tasty. I had the Bohemian, fresh and satisfying (see pic). We ordered the shrimp and lobster roll as an app, fried to perfection and the sauce it served with compliments it well. Ordered off the lunch menu, we ordered: snapper with risotto, ahi tuna salad, and the crispy chicken. EVERYTHING was fresh, presented amazing, colorful, and just delicious. We will be returning. If I were a restaurant, I'd be this one- classy, comfortable, and tasteful!

I really liked this spot; it's a bit trendy but in a good way. It was super crowded on a Friday night, plus they don't take reservations. We got lucky and found two seats at the bar, so we didn't have to wait too long. A great drink menu, friendly bar tender, and good food. We ordered several crab dishes and were happy with them all.

I kept hearing about this restaurant so took a friend for an early NYE dinner. Because Chive had called me to change our reservation time, I had been promised a great table, but when we got there we were seated at the tight middle table with the too-low chairs. I think that was because we were two women, since a male-female couple was given a booth shortly after we were seated. However, I went over to remind the hostess of the reservation person's promise and our seats were changed to near the window. Much better. The food was delicious, absolutely. I had the flounder and crab over risotto and it was divine. My friend's oysters were fantastic as was her lobster risotto. However, our waiter was a bit odd. When he came over for our appetizer order, I asked about specials and he said he couldn't tell us the entrees until he had put in the app order. ? Then he disappeared for a fair amount of time. He also refilled my wine after I told him I did not want another. And charged me for it. I found the menus sort of ridiculous: too large and unweildy, too much "art" and not enough information. And --I can't believe no one has mentioned this--no dessert menu. Nada. Not an offer of coffee or a cordial or anything. So, yes, wonderful food, cool atmosphere but pricey and eccentric.

Upscale atmosphere and great food and service. The rare tuna is some of the best I've ever had. Lobster...AMAZING! We have been there twice in 3 days. Portions are good ....and the bartender withe the beard...forgot to get his name was so helpful and knew about every other restaurant. PLEASE PLEASE GO AND EAT HERE...MMMMMMM!

This restaurant has some contradictions, and I'm torn between giving it 3 or 4 stars. The look of the place is awesome - sleek, low lighting, modern furniture, awesome chandeliers. Perhaps the lighting was a little too low, because we had a hard time reading the menu. The look totally didn't match the music, which was a mix of Billy Joel and the Beach Boys...played really loud. It was distracting and awkward. I mean, really distracted. We talked about it through the whole meal. Meanwhile, the food was really good although a bit expensive for what you got. I chose the Japanese mushroom salad and the mussels. I enjoyed the salad, especially the contrast of the warm mushrooms and the cool lettuce. The mussels were delectable, spicy and rich. Unfortunately, a few of them were not the tastiest, if you know what I mean... They charged extra for more bread for the mussels, which I thought was a little tacky.

Had one of the best salads here that I've ever tasted - the Mango salad was out of this world! Super fresh ingredients, light ginger dressing! So good. The vibe is a bit club-like, with curved booths and curtains on the walls. The wait staff was very friendly and helpful too.

Yummmmm!!!! Had the steamed clams in this citrus garlic broth that was WOW!!!! Also had the lobster shrimp spring roll that was pretty good too ... The bartender Ryan was GREAT ... He made me a delicious lime basil gimlet on the rocks that knocked my socks off it was so good ... Thank you Anthony owner of The Collins Quarter who recommended this place !!!!

Was looking for a place to eat, nothing terribly fancy, and I happened to walk into this wonderful restaurant. I ordered the trout with she crab and it was absolutely delicious. I got the lunch portion and that satisfy me completely. Additionally I ordered the lobster bisque soup and that was incredible.

Came here for drinks and appetizers. The place was packed for good reason! We opted to sit at the bar instead of waiting for a table. Decor is very chic, but not overly pretentious. Service was lackluster in the beginning, but picked up throughout the meal. Drinks were good. I tried the Bohemian cocktail, which is made with gin, St. Germain, fresh grapefruit juice, and bitters. Good drink, but a little sweet for my taste. My lady and I shared the asian mushroom salad - which was really good. We had the Ping seabass skewers, which were tasty, but didn't knock our socks off. Lastly we had the mussels, which were probably some of the best mussels we've had. The broth was a perfect balance of spices and cream. It was so good we were tempted to order more bread to sop up the rest of the broth! Maybe next time...

Stumbled upon the place and decided to try it out. Very pleasantly surprised. The service was great and my server was very informative. I had the special: grouper and crab over orzo. It was so delicious and well prepared. I would come back next time I'm in Savannah.

Honestly, the best chicken and vegetables I've ever had... And we're talking chicken... And vegetables (not something that usually stick around in my mind). Every bite was as good or better than the previous. My wife had the prawn risotto and it was (somehow?) even MORE amazing than my meal. I can't recommend this place enough. Get there early though and be prepared to wait... It's a popular location that's worth every penny.

Excellent experience here last night as I turned the big 30. We were seated in the uber romantic section which was very cozy and private. The grey goose dry martini was perfect and to the brim. Oysters on the half, both raw and Rockefeller. Not only were they super fresh and tasty but presentation was absolutely there. The dining manager here knows what is going on. Another Leo, our waitress was very knowledgable and friendly. One of my best restaurant experiences yet in Savannah. All you fellow locals need to check this place out! 5 STARS! *****

We have traveled internationally for the past thirty years. Chive in Savannah, ranks as one of the best in service, decor, and food we have encountered on a worldwide basis. I am not going into detail on the individual dishes, but their treatment of the basic meat or seafood, including sauces and presentation would rank three star Michelin if in Europe. In Savannah, make room for the dining experience at Chive.

Tried their steak and it was amazing! Portion sizes are very small but the atmosphere and strong drinks pays off. We came in as they were closing up but next time I want to try their seafood. My only complaint is that their seating is not very roomy or comfortable for larger parties. Keep that in mind bit overall the staff was very kind.

After reading some of the other reviews on here we were a little worried about the timeliness, quality, and portion size of the food. I am glad to say that these negative reviews couldn't have been any further from reality on this restaurant, also keeping in mind we ate here on NYE which is one of the highest demand nights of the year. The inside of the restaurant was clean, modern, and hip. We sat in one of the small two top tables in the middle of the restaurant. The chairs sat somewhat low to the table. Would recommend sitting a both of available. We had exceptional service from a server named David. I would highly recommend asking to sit in his section. The manager and hostess also continually checked on us to make sure the service was meeting our expectation. The food quality was terrific. We ordered tuna ceviche and the small portions of lobster and edamame risotto, stuffed striped bass, and Dungeness crab tar tar. The food was fantastic, portions were large (even on the small entrees), and I would put each of these dishes up against any of the top restaurants in Savannah. Ordering the tuna tar tar is a must!

We were excited to try out Chives, so we had a celebration tonight and used this opportunity. We were seated quickly in a very comfortable booth, and the aesthetics and ambience were wonderful. There were 4 or 5 waitress running around the very small restaurant besides the hostess. Once we were seated, we had to wait over 10 to 15 minutes to order drinks, and then the bartender made them and they sat there another 10 to 15 minutes before we begged for them. We did this by flagging down one of the tightly clad dressed waitress, (she was not our waitress as we had not seen ours for almost a half hour), and she rescued our drinks. We were ready to order at the same time too but continue to wait. 40 minutes after being there we again flagged down a waitress, (that was not ours, but she happened to walk somewhat near our area) to order. None of the waitresses barely spoke to is, and we didn't see a smile. The staff seemed in disarray and and some seemed confused. They did not work together or seem to communicate. The place is expensive so we expected to at least be acknowledged. I had the lobster and risotto. It was very good but not filling at all. It was very small portions. I am very petite, and do not eat much yet I still was hungry when I was finished. My husband had a sea food plate that was also very tasty and a little more filling. Basically, the food was good, but there are so many excellent places to eat in Savannah that this place shouldn't be on your list or should be way down the list.

I give four stars for the food, but I'm docking points at the request of my dining companions for the ambiance. The food was very fresh and tasty, although I would have liked to have more local seafood options. The cocktail was only ok, but that was typical of all the cocktails we tried throughout Savannah. The major drawback was the music--it was a little loud and completely out of sync with the decor of the restaurant. I realize this review is snobby. Maybe for some people details like music doesn't bother you, but it did for the two people I was dining with.

Hannah was great a huge delight to have her as our server. First, to those who like comfort... The seating was awesome. Huge lounge couches and comfortable. The ambience was phenomenal. I love the black and white movie playing on the background though it was hard to focus on too much of that because I was in great company. The food is delicious and beautiful and we will be back again soon!

I'm glad I went to Chive at least once but that will be the last time. The decor is nice but the space is very small and crowded. The high top tables sit about 1 foot behind the booths and it feels like people are practically sitting on top of your head. My drink, Cat's Pajamas, was very good and the duck was really delicious but it was too pricey for me when your meal is basically an appetizer (duck breast was served with approximately 8 pieces of vegetables - green beans and asparagus). My boyfriend and I went to McDonald's on Broughton Street after wards because he was still hungry.

Chive is an interesting spot in Savannah. I was excited to get a new fine dining place but they have really missed the mark here. Firstly, the tables and seating are not conducive to a proper meal. We sat at a banquette that felt more like a lounging area. I went with a friend of mine and the only way to comfortably sit was to lean back on to the pillows in a come-hither way. It was awkward and uncomfortable. Neither of us could sit in the chairs that were at the table because they were too low to the ground and our elbows would have been hitting the table the whole time. Secondly, for some odd reason, both times I've been to Chive they have played War and Peace on the massive television. Now, War and Peace, while not graphic, is a very violent and tragic film. The film they played before that was a black and white one where there was a scene of male violence towards a female character. These are disturbing images for what turned into an exorbitantly priced meal. Thirdly, the prices are absolutely ridiculous and do not reflect the quality of the food or service we received. Both times, I was hit with sticker shock. The second time, while the server was kind, she was unsure of what was offered and not as attentive as the prices demand. I got the oysters, which were quarter sized, and paid $2.50 per oyster. When I requested crackers, they then charged me for those as well. $30 oysters should have absorbed the price of the water crackers I received. When I inquired about the price the server just told me that she didn't set the prices. While that was already clear to me, there were many other possible solutions. I left with a sour taste in my mouth about the entire experience. Chive has a lot of potential but I probably won't give it another go.

Chive is a beautiful bar and lounge and is a great spot for cocktails. We had the pleasure of meeting Johnathan, a talented bartender at Chive. He made us some really cool and interesting cocktails. The Bohemian cocktail is delicious and refreshing. I also ended the night with a Key Lime Pie martini. Amazing! We didn't eat food there however heard from the couple sitting next to us that the food is great. We will definitely be back!

We went here for lunch and loved it. First, the music was exactly what I like to hear-not loud and any sound track that plays Bobby Darin is on my team! Second, the atmosphere, which has been noted is gorgeous. I felt like I was in a Astaire/Rogers movie. Third, our waiter Daniel was very polite and accommodating, perfect. And, last the food was great. I had the shrimp & avocado salad and my husband had the shrimp Caesar salad both were filling and delicious. (Very important for me was the lettuce was fresh and green. Lots of places use old lettuce that is white or yellow, ugh.). I asked for bread and it came w/homemade pesto, yummy. The bill was $30 plus tip. We will be back.

WOW! Just WOW! This is a new restaurant right off of Broughton Street and I'm wondering where has it been all of this time?! You walk in and enter a lounge tainted blue decorated in what seems like you have stepped back in time to a classy era given the black and white films playing on the wall, the flowers and chandeliers, and the comfy booths accented with plush pillows. The waitresses are all wearing uniform, chic black dresses and are dolled up to the nines. The bar seats over a dozen, which for what seems like a small place is actually really helpful in terms of crowding given the number of people coming in for their cocktail concoctions. I tried the Lavender martini and also the Bohemian. GET THE BOHEMIAN. It goes down way too easy, it could be dangerous. I had the She Crab soup which was the perfect starter. The group of women I was with also split the cutting board which was a nice blend of cheese, fruit, and crackers displayed eloquently. For my entree, I had a small portion of the lobster and edamame risotto, which was just right in terms of quantity. It tasted AMAZING. Overall, I cannot give praise for this place enough - it was delectable in every way!

While walking down Broughton last night we decided to try Chive. The restaurant did not appear full and it seemed reasonable we would not have to wait for a table. We tried to make a reservation earlier in the week but were told they do not reserve tables. Upon entering we were promptly greeted and in the same breath told they do not allow outside drinks. We were certainly willing to comply but asked if they had a table for us. We were told that all of the tables for two were taken and that they would have to check to see if we could be seated at one of several vacant tables for 4 people. The hostess returned to tell us they could not seat us at a table for 4 but we could eat at the bar which was occupied by only a couple customers. We chose to leave since we did not want to feel like we were eating at a Waffle House setting at their bar. Since several new restaurants have opened recently downtown. We strolled a couple of blocks to another new establishment. By chance we were greeted by the owner and promptly seated. There was no attempt to take our outside drinks. We had a delicious dinner for two and several drinks. When leaving we were asked to return. Completely different experience. Maybe Chive can take some pointers from their completion. Alienating local residents who live downtown and eat out frequently is not a way to build a business. It will be interesting to see how long they stay open turning away potential customers when only about half of the tables are taken.

Party of 4 had lunch here. Food was fresh and good. The desserts sublime. Staff very helpful but talked quietly. Would highly recommend (especially with groupon). Loved the 40s film noir atmosphere.

The service was good, we were just about the only people there. The food was very good but I think it was a little pricy for what we got.

Chive Chive Chive. Had such high hopes for this restaurant. I walk by it on a daily basis, and when I finally went in, it was rather disappointing. The overall design of the restaurant is interesting. It has a high class feel, but when you pick each style out it leaves you with a headache wondering what they were thinking. Hollywood glamour mixed with art deco mixed with footloose playing on the big screen. Very awkward place. The bar is very nice and spacious, but once you move to the dining area you don't get the same feel. I am 6'1", and there was no way I could have sat comfortably in any seat in that restaurant. It was either low backed booths or low backed lounge seating. Very uncomfortable. They also didn't consider foot space under the tables, I was squeezed into that table like a Zachary Quinto in Jonathan Groff. As for the food, I honestly can not remember what I ate there....... aka a sign that it wasn't very good.

A wonderful ambiance and meal alike. A very refreshing change of pace from the savannah restaurant scene. Fairly priced and worth every penny. Highly recommend from a New Yorker and Philadelphian who are no strangers to seafood. Hope this place stays around!

My husband and I stop in Savannah on our way to Orlando. We love the historic district and we know few good restaurants in the area but Chive has The Best seafood !!!!!!! Great atmosphere , great service , everything was perfect. Absolutely would recommend this great restaurant.

We love Chive, go there pretty much every time we have a date night or friends in town. I've had the mango arugula salad, all the pings (skewers), the sashimi and sea bass which are all great. The last time we went we had the Oceans 5 and that was Amazing! I wanted to take some home but there was nothing left. The space is gorgeous and they have live music on the weekends. Def happy to have a new restaurant option in Savannah.

This is a very attractive restaurant with great furnishings and lighting. That's it. Should you want any sort of service or food that is something more than pedestrian go elsewhere. We waited for five minutes in a restaurant with six seated tables to be acknowledged. We were seated, at last, and waited yet another five minutes for the waitress to arrive. Service didn't improve until around 1:20PM when the owner and manager swanned in-apparently having enjoyed a tasty repast elsewhere. The curried mussels were good but served without spoons for the broth or a bowl for the shells. (We used the lid of the platter but it wasn't big enough for all the shells.) Crab cakes and ginger chicken were okay but no better than my friend Kate, the reluctant cook, would make. The service was, at best, well intentioned but completely frustrating. I gave the manager my credit card so I could pay for the meal. The waitress showed up mid-meal, credit card in hand asking if there was a problem and did we really want to leave. Apparently, someone wanting to pay the check here is anathema, I can see why. Pretty, shiny, all surface, no depth. BTW, we had a Groupon that was not honored-waiter error not ours. We had to leave so I called later to speak to the manager but was told he wasn't available. I left my contact info but-you guessed it-my call was never returned.

The food was ok but not worth the price. They should send more time on the food and less on the atmosphere.

Cool room, good knowledgeable service, nice beer selection and most of all the food was flavorful and prepared properly. I had crab cakes and was happy with the texture, not too mushy or too crispy on the outside either

This place was extraordinary! Our experience was impeccable at Chive Bar. From our attentive waitress, to the tasteful decor and ambiance, through to the explosively delicious dishes we ordered - we loved it from start to finish. This was our last night in Savannah and we wanted to try something more swanky, like a dress nice and sit down kinda meal. We started with "The Cutting Board", which was a beautiful selection of cheese, fruit and preserves, wonderfully presented, delish and a perfect start to our evening. We then had the King Prawn Cocktail which was adequate not anything special, along with a bottle of wine. Since many of the meals on the menu are classified as tapas, we ordered 3 between us, I ordered the venison tenderloins, my bf ordered the crab tartare, and then we both decided on the crab cake for splitting. Of the three I'll start with the crab tartare - this was an incredible explosion of taste in your mouth, fresh cilantro, citrus twang and soft crab meat made this dish a winner, not to mention the beautiful plating. Second place would be my venison tenderloins, "tender" being the operative word, they were melt-in-your-mouth delicious. Displayed on a little bed on veggies, and a dash of sriracha to give mild heat, I thoroughly enjoyed this to the last bite. Then in last place was the crab cake. So delicious on the inside, meaty, tasty, only thing was that the outer crispiness had a very oily taste to it, definitely not cooked in good oil therefore had a little aftertaste which I thought spoiled the dish to a point. Overall I would go back to Chive Bar any time I'm in Savannah, it is romantic, chic, great service and makes some banging dishes, I could have ordered everything twice over!

After going to Ele multiple times and always having excellent service and food, I expected the same with Chive. I was sadly disappointed. The service was so awful It was almost laughable. The servers all wandered around appearing to do absolutely nothing while we waited 20 min just to place a drink order. They would walk into the back and come back out with nothing in their hands. I could understand if they were busy but it really wasn't crowded at all. We ended up only having appetizers and a couple of drinks. In sure the food is probably excellent but first impressions mean a lot and I don't think we will be planning a trip back to Chive anytime soon.

My husband and I went on a late night date here on our wedding night. Our server's name was Wade. He was amazing! He had the Grilled Salmon and I had Tuna Ceviche AWESOMENESS. We were presented with a "wedding dessert" that was this ball of white, milk and dark chocolate with whipped cream and raspberries---YUMMINESS and ended the night with drinks called The RED CLOVER--YAY! Definitely will be returning.

On our recent trip to Savannah, one of the friends spotted Chive as we were walking down the street. Later that same evening we were given a recommendation to try it. Since we were on vacation we thought we would fit it into one of our meals for that trip. The place has a kind of art deco/old Hollywood feel about it. It's a small cozy, trendy place and the customers seemed to be a young and local crowd. When seated, we checked out the menu. I myself couldn't really decide what I wanted and it seemed everyone in our group felt the same way. I wanted to say it was because everything sounded so good, but that was not the case. We really couldn't get a good feel for what the food was. After a great rundown from our waitress, we found that some dishes needed better clarification. To a point that some dishes have a Red curry on them that isn't mentioned on the menu or is mentioned by a name that I myself wasn't familiar with. Curry is a strong flavor that someone would either hate or love if they got it. One of the people we were with had something with it on it and it was absolutely delicious. I guess what this place needs is a revamp of the descriptions on the menu so customers can better decide what the dish is and what would work best for them. I had the flounder stuffed with crab on top of a asparagus risotto. YUM! Our server was nice and was very helpful in the beginning and with our ordering and massive amounts of questions. I did feel she could have been slightly more attentive throughout the rest of the meal. All in all, the food was wonderful, the abidance was nice, and the service was decent. Would I go back, absolutely!

I love that other people used the term 'swanky' because that's exactly how my friends and I described it. Great ambiance. The bartenders were very friendly and very nicely dressed. The overall vibe was upscale but not snobby. We had the lobster rolls as an appetizer and I had the sea bass with crab. Delish! Will definitely be back!

  • Carl Y.

Very delicious and special sea food here. The servers are nice too. The sea food platter is a little bit waste of money though. They basically only had some clams, crab and shrimps but cost over $80. They also have some cold food, like the Tuna Ceviche, which has flavor of fresh fruits and sea weed. Order Ocean 5 if you like Thai red curry.

Excellent! Wife ordered the half portion Lobster Edamame Risoto which she absolutely loved. She does not eat much, but she finished her dish. I had the Sea Bass stuffed with Crab on Risoto. Awesome pairing with a chili sauce on the side. Atmosphere is old school and Rat Pack feeling.

This is an Asian fusion seafood restaurant which is not at all portrayed. I know it's Asian fusion because the waiter specifically told us after I mentioned they should mention on the menu that the chicken fried is like General Tso's chicken. They own the Asian noodle houses across the street and this is their higher end stop. The decor also does not lend any sort of Asian theme and is swanky 1930esque Art Deco lounge. It is a unique, fun and beautiful restaurant with a great atmosphere. The crab cake with fried green tomato was also very delicious! I didn't give them four stars because the oysters are imported, not local, and thus pretty pricey as well. Otherwise not bad with great service!

Chive is a great seafood lounge/restaurant. Service is great and the atmosphere is great as well. Takes you back in time to a certain degree and we really enjoyed it and you will too if you like great cocktails and seafood.

Just happened upon this place and found it to be a real find. We had appetizers: she crab soup , mussels, mango arugula salad and beef cappricini. All if them were excellent and the mussels were in the most delicious broth I have ever tasted. Highly recommend. If the appetizers are that good I can just imagine how good the main entrées are . Will definitely return.

Best meal we have had in a while. Our server, Dave gave us great recommendations. We wanted the mussels to start which he kindly informed us they were out of. He asked us if we would like to try their most popular sauce, the Yellow Curry, our their clams. What a great dish!!! We were so sad when it was gone. Then we had the She crab soup. This was a thick version but also had great flavor. For the entrees we went for the Chilean Sea Bass (very tasty) and the Buffalo Tenderloin. If you like your meat so tender as to melt in your mouth and can handle red color I would go for rare as we did. It was incredible!!! The veggies had a ton of flavor and the sauces that came on the plate were a perfect compliment to the buffalo. I wouldn't go any more than medium rare. As Dave would tell you, it would toughen the meat. He was an amazing server. We wish we had another night to return for the food here!!! Couldn't have dreamt a better meal.

Excellent. Went there for dinner 1 before turning to The Grey. Appetizers were delicious. Drinks were great--and we got there in enough time to take advantage of happy hour. You must try the steamed muscles. A very unique yellow curry sauce. Creme brûlée also very good. Service also quite pleasant and knowledgeable. Would definitely come back.

My boyfriend and I ate at Chive tonight and it was absolutely fantastic. We dined outside as we had our dog with us. Right off the bat, our server brought the dog out water which was thoughtful and awesome. Our server, Ben, made very helpful suggestions on menu items and was willing and able to answer all of our questions knowledgeably. As a server myself, I find it hard to enjoy an evening out without scrutinizing everything about a restaurant, especially the service. Ben did a wonderful job setting us at ease to enjoy the evening. The food was fabulous. We shared the Shrimp and Lobster Spring Rolls and the She-Crab Soup, both of which were to die for. For my entree, I ordered the Crab-Stuffed Sea Bass with a Red Curry Sauce. Oh. my. god. SO GOOD. My boyfriend ordered the duck which he very much enjoyed. Not a cheap place to have dinner by any means, but a fantastic way to treat yourself to both food and an experience that is well worth it.

Happy to leave. Slick, trendy decor with large screen reruns of The Andy Griffith show running gives way to poor service and fair food. We were told only some of the specials, and the one I ordered was wrongly described. 45 minutes between appetizer and main course. Overheard servers at neighboring tables apologizing to guests for service. Spring roll was bland and overcooked. Stuffed flounder ok. Sent back the special. Food runner did not know what was on each plate. Glad to get out after an hour and one half so I could get a bite at a nearby bar.

I came here for dinner with my family and really enjoyed this spot. We had the mussels which were probably the best I've ever had. The grilled seabass skewers were really tasty as well as the mushroom salad. The atmosphere is happening and lively. This is a good place to come for date night or with your friends.

We drank a bottle of wine at the bar but didnt eat because we had a reservation elsewhere already. The restaurant is beautifully decorated and is very well designed. The wine was great along with the service. Next time we'll stay for dinner. The menu looked like it had some awesome choices.

I went to this restaurant with my girlfriends. When we went in the atmosphere was great and we were really looking forward to having a good meal... Unfortunately, the white wine was lukewarm. The lobster was like leather, with a visably burnt look. The fish was over-cooked. The crab meat had too much breading and absolutely no lumps of meat. The cucumber basil drink was okay at best. The waitress didn't even ask when we left with unfinished plate and drinks. It was a total disappointment. We would not recommend that anyone go here for lunch. Maybe dinner is better. But for lunch, stay away.

Really good place in Savannah. We walked in and sat at the bar. The ambiance is classy, retro, and clean. The bartenders were great and super friendly. We tried a couple of their specialty martinis and they were VERY good. Classy drinks in a classy place, for sure. We ordered the ahi ceviche as an app and it was beyond good - we loved every bite and it was sizable. Followed up with 2 of the crab stuffed black sea bass (they have large and small portions - we went with small) and that was also very good. I love they have 1/2 portions as most places give you WAY too much food and it's hard not to feel bad when you can't finish. Excellent experience and we'd return.

Very good meal. We had this restaurant recommended by a waitress from another restaurant. Get reservations in advance and ask for a booth...not really a booth but a romantic couch setting. The restaurant is 50 s retro but very fun and upbeat. Our meal was awsome...Asian infused but good wine pairings for my salad and sea bass with crab stuffing. My husband had two IPAD beers with his meal. Our waiter Ben was very helpful in recommending good dishes and wine/ beer pairings. I will definitely return and would recommend it to foodies and romantics.

I love Chive!! While visiting Savannah last week, we actually ate dinner there two nights in a row! It was a very short walk from the hotel we stayed at on the riverfront. We just happened upon it one night and loved the food. The staff there were so nice. We loved it so much we went back again the next night! We found the food to be very reasonable for such a nice meal.

Great place for food and music! This was the first place we ate for dinner on our arrival to Savannah. Loved the Great Gasby theme to the restaurant, which is what prompted it as our first choice. We started with cocktails (three rounds each, it was a gooood night!). I had the Elderflower martini, their version of the old fashion, and the bohemian. Delicious! My sister had blood orange martini, a Cosmo, and the strawberry cheesecake dessert martini. They were very good! Next, we ordered the Duck ping (skewered grilled meat), which was good. The mussels were amazing (could have slurped the broth out of the bowl) and the stuffed striped bass was also excellent. Food was delicious. We finished it up with this sinful chocolate dessert. To add to the overall ambiance of the place, there was a duo of musicians playing the blues, that were very talented, fun, and easy on the eyes (because that may influence your dining choice). :)

Great experience here! Love the atmosphere - feels like you're in the roaring 20's. We started off with oysters on the half shell, they were perfect. All our cocktails were spot on, solid pours and great presentations all around. The she crab soup is a must! Entrees we had were: flounder and crab, scallops and ahai tuna. Everything was cooked perfectly and tasted great! Every plate was cleaned. Total satisfaction all around. Super friendly and knowledgeable staff as well. This place is high on my list of restaurants in Savannah and in a town with so many good places, that's high praise!

I came here for lunch. I would not recommend this restaurant. Positives: The decor is spot on. It is a beautiful atmosphere and the music was appropriate and at a good volume. The food was delicious and the servings were adequate. Negatives: Our waitress was aloof, unfriendly, and fairly absent. It took her a very long time to take our order, she was not attentive during our meal, and the check took a long time. I go out to eat primarily for the whole experience. If I just wanted good food, I can cook it myself or order a to-go meal. When I go to a restaurant, I really want a friendly and attentive waiter. I felt like we were a major inconvenience to her day, and that is not the experience I am looking for, especially when the bill is $40 for lunch for 2 people (no alcohol). I was also taken aback by the skimpy attire of the waitresses. That may be okay for a bar at night or Hooters, but the extremely short skirts and tight dresses were out of place for a place frequented by daytime tourists and people having a business lunch. It was odd and a little awkward. The feminist in me was annoyed that the guys got to wear pants and white shirts with ties and suspenders but the girls were totally sexualized by their "uniforms". If the girls are expected to wear clothes that are unprofessional and objectifying, the boys should as well!

Jay Gatsby would have deffinetly brought Daisy to this spectacular romantic place. They had a Marilyn Monroe movie playing on a big screen by the bar. We had the Tuna Ceviche and Dungeness Crab Tar Tar. Amazing! So yummy. We were on vacation from Chicago, no joke went back the next day to Chive even thou Savannah has so many great restaurants because it was that good. Also, Cucumber Basil Cocktail very good and refreshing. If you haven't been you must go, if you have gone then I'm sure you will be coming back. It's something I wish Chicago had. I will be looking.

Atmosphere is high end classy...borderline stuffy. The staff was amazingly hospitable and set the tone for what turned out to be a perfect dining experience! The food was one of the best I've had ever. She crab soup, lobster sweet potato soup, Chilean sea bass and Kobe skewers were impressive . I will recommend it to anyone visiting Savannah....wow!!!! My compliments to the chef

Expensive for the sake of being expensive. Very aloof staff and apparently very shady owners. Coming here made me ask myself: What is a sea bar? This places bares little resemblance to anything I've seen in Spongebob Squarepants. The vibe is very Real Housewives of Savannah.

My husband and I were celebrating our 25th wedding anniversary and this was the perfect place. The restaurant is beautiful with modern crystal chandeliers, lots of glass and mirrors, velvet curtains, and clean white table tops. That being said, it's the food that's the star. They seated us at in cozy booth with cushy pillows and we were immediately greeted by our server. She told us about the specials and explained the menu to us. We started with The Cutting Board, a lovely selection or cheeses and fruits with a bit of Savannah Bee honey and crackers. Delish. This was followed by salads. I had the Japanese mushroom salad and my husband and the mango arugula. While we liked them both, we agreed that the Japanese Mushroom was our favorite. For our main course, we went with the Ping, slow-cooked Asian inspired meats. I had the duck and he had the Wagyu Kobe beef. We LOVED both of these. They were excellent. The service was as good as the food. In addition to our server, the manager and two other servers attentively kept our water glasses filled, plates cleared, and made sure we were happy and all on a busy Saturday night. Can't wait for our next trip to Savannah. We will definitely eat here again.

This was an incredible experience to say the least. We had the Chilean Sea Bass which I can say was the best I have ever had and we live on the gulf coast. The shashimi tuna appetizer was wonderful as were the specialty martinis. Also, I must say the portions were large. A great value. At an upscale place as this, I would expect great presentation with small portions. Not the case here!

We got a groupon for lunch at Chive and ate there the last day of our trip to Savannah. It's a cool place with a nice vibe. It's a bit dark for lunch; they could have turned up the lights a bit, but we got one of the cool booths along the wall and it was fun and comfortable. We ordered steamed clams for the appetizer. My wife got the 5 seafood curry and I got the lunch special crab cake. The crab cake was very good; full of crab. Delish. It wasn't very large, but it was a lunch dish and only $9 so there you go. The steamed clams were very good and there were a good number of them. We ordered bread to go with them (it should come with bread), which was a small charge ($3), but toasted and buttered and served with a delicious dipping sauce. It's a good restaurant, and I would definitely encourage people to check it out, but I think it's trying a little too hard with the nostalgic movies playing on the TV (no sound so not disruptive or anything) and the beads and all. Our service was very nice. Prompt and polite. Whatever service issues people have had in the past (as seen on these reviews) they seem to have worked them out. Good job, Chive.

Had lunch here today on one of many trips over the years to Savannah. The red curry soup, lobster rolls and the crab salad with avocado and fruit were exceptional. My husband and I each had the cucumber basil martini as a perfect starter to the meal. The atmosphere I would describe as 'cozy cosmopolitan'

Let me start with the restaurant ambiance. The decor made me feel like I was in a classy ballroom from the 1920's. The colors silver, metallic blue, gray and white added a relaxing touch to the furniture, walls and decor of the restaurant. The service was world class 5 star as the servers were well mannered and trained professionals. The food was awesome colorful and was tasty as it was visually exciting. I'm a travel professional and I highly recommend this restaurant.

It was definitely good, but nothing spectacular. The Lobster was a bit overcooked in my wife's meal. The shrimp cocktail was excellent. I would say that it is definitely worth checking out, just nothing I'd be dying to go back to.

My partner and I visited while attending a conference at the nearby Hilton Desoto. I checked the yelp reviews and decided it was worth a visit. Pros- Beautiful setting and ambience. We had dinner on a Thursday evening and arrived around 7pm, just in time before the crowds arrived. Our server was excellent! She was knowledgeable regarding the menu. The seafood platter for 2 was enormous and the quality was top notch. We also ordered a dinner special of a whole fish lightly tempura battered and fried. It was delicious. The wine selection is excellent and fairly priced. We ordered a mid priced bottle of sauvignon blanc that paired well with our meal. We also ordered a mixed selection of both raw and cooked oysters, truly amazing. Cons - They do not accept reservations. Not an issue if you carefully time your arrival but I can see this would be a problem with groups of 4 or more. Also, since we were just 2 people dining they would not give us a booth. Those are set aside for parties of 4 or larger. We were seated at one of their 2 seat bistro sets. While the bistro set was comfortable, it was so small that we could only be served one food item at a time which was kind of incovenient. Not a deal breaker, but when you are spending $247 I think we should have been given a booth. We made it clear to the hostess we planned on a full dinner and not just drinks. Bonus - the live music was awesome! Not loud or overbearing. The singer was similar in style to Harry Connick Jr and it was a nice way to end the evening. My partner and I love this place and will definitely be back on future trips to Savannah. Yes it is expensive but you get what you pay for. The quality and service that we received were top notch. If the place was a little larger and 2 people could be seated at a booth this would be a 5 star review.

We live downtown and have been eyeing Chive since it opened. We waited several weeks with plans of trying it out for the first time for my birthday dinner. We had a similar experience to Joseph B. except we were eventually seated. He and his date were probably one of the 4 couples we watched get turned away after expressing their frustration at trying to make a reservation, the flawed call-ahead system, and not being seated at one of the several empty booths reserved for larger groups. We called the day before to make a reservation: no reservations accepted. We were instructed to call ahead, about an hour before we planned to arrive, the following night. We did so, and the hostess over the phone seemed confused about our request and said we could just come in as they had tables open. When we arrived, the inside was beautiful. A swanky, 1920's vibe with colors in rich blue and silver with lots of chandeliers and mirrors. Running the length of one wall are couch booths which can be sectioned off into individual tables with a curtain. Since several were open, we were expected to be seated at one of those. Instead, we were told we could wait for a high-top for two or take a table right against the front window, butted right up against a large party. We asked about the booths and were told they were for larger parties. I understand Chive wanting to have full tables. However, those cozy, curtained booths are perfect for a date night, and couples are going to want those booths. It was frustrating that the hostesses were considering turning away our business rather than just sitting us at a booth. Eventually, one of the hostesses (there seemed to be 3-4) went to the manager who "made an exception" for us and allowed us to sit in a booth. The multiple hostesses just created confusion because we told the first hostess we didn't want the window table, but then two additional hostess set that table for us two different times, and we then had to explain to them that we didn't want that table. It just made us feel embarrassed and like jerks for having to say three times "no, we don't want that table!" Once we were seated, though, things were great. While our waitress didn't mention the specials to us like we heard other waitresses doing, she was friendly, didn't rush us, and checked back to see if we needed anything frequently. You can order a traditional dinner from the menu, or you can order small portions of the entrees to do a meal of tapas. The beef carpaccio with seaweed salad and venison entree were the two highlights. I also recommend the clover martini and French 75 cocktail. If it weren't for the snafu at the start of our evening, I'd give Chive 5 stars. However, even though I'm planning to dine there again and again, I'll always be hesitant, worried we won't get a seat or will be made to feel unwelcome since we're just a party of two. And if that happens again, we don't be going there again after that.

This place is great! While we waited for one of the intimate round booths, we enjoyed a cocktail at the bar (peach Bellini...yum!!) and took in the chic, swanky ambiance. For dinner we enjoyed the tuna ceviche and miso duck...both of which were to DIE for. Our server was quiet, attentive, and left us alone to enjoy our oh-so-rare date night. At dinner, I sipped a lychee martini which rocked too! We had a Groupon ($30 for $60) which made the whole experience awesome on a budget! DEFINITELY will be back!! The perfect date night spot!

Great tasting food and fantastic decor. The drinks were pretty good too (well at least my dirty martini was). I went here on a Saturday and they had live music which is always great. Would definitely recommend checking it out.
