UPDATE 08/10/15 we came in as usual with my 2 and a half year old son on Sunday evening. For once in the years I've been frequenting... IT WAS HORRIBLE. First of all, they sat us near a large party of men who it seemed were there to drink after a baseball game.... Now... Why would you seat a toddler near a large group of drinking men who are incredibly loudly using terrible language? My little guy is in the parroting phase and he picks up everything so to be hearing "f*ck" and "sh*t" very loudly and very clearly was not really appropriate for him. The service was ok... Not my favorite waitress I've had in there but she was ok... Oh yeah... And one of the guys from that large group was also spitting on the floor... Really? The only amazing thing about this visit was the food.... Everything else was so bad, they've gone from 5 to 3 stars. Maybe we'll get back that 5 next time B&D... I'm sorely disappointed for now. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ I absolutely love this place. The service is always outstanding and the burgers are AMAZING. The nachos we had for an appetizer was awesome as well, my son and man friend LOVED them. I usually get the Whitefield square, but the last few times we went I got the moon river and it was not disappointing in the least. My friend always gets the burger with the egg on it, he swears by it. The kids portions are big, my little guy loves their hot dogs. These burgers, if you are an avid burger lover, are awesome. They're always cooked exactly to order, and are juicy without being overly greasy. One of my favorite places to eat and totally worth the longer drive to get here. They have a good bar and lots of TVs as well. I've come in to catch a Patriots game or a college football game, no matter where you are you can see at least one TV with your game on it. Love this place. You should give it a try.

Great outdoor seating area for doggies. Making my own burger seem to taste better than my friends choice off their premade special menu burger. Pineapple, cilantro, spicy bbq. Using provolone cheese threw ur iff a but. But overall, it tasted well.

The burgers here are amazing! I like the fact that you can customize your burger the way you like it and that they have healthier options as well. Oh, and I LOVE their sweet potato fries!

Food was awesome! Decor was cool. A little pricier than I had hoped. Definitely worth checking out. I will most likely be back.

Great service late night. The burgers were very good and the beer selection wasn't bad. The service was awesome even though we showed up 30 minutes prior to close. I would definitely go back.

Never had a bad burger here. Partial to the Colonial (never thought I'd like the egg), but it is now a favorite. Fries are pretty good too. Kids like it, the wife likes it, therefore I like it.

We had a great experience tonight! The food was great, service was on point, and the atmosphere was perfect. My birthday was today and I just wanted to go somewhere easy since my almost 2 year old was with us. We had ordered out of here before but never been inside to eat. Eating there is so much better than ordering out! We all loved the corn nuggets. My picky son wanted to eat them all! I ordered the Lucas burger for dinner with a side of smokey bbq sauce. What a great burger! It has cheddar cheeSe, bleu cheese, and onion rings on it. No it's not the largest burger I have had, but it was tasty and the toppings went perfectly with it. My husband ordered one with bacon and buffalo dip on it. While I could barely look at it (sounds gross to me), he loved it! We will definitely be returning.

We used to come here all the time when we lived in Savannah, it was good then but now it's even better!! We came through for lunch after going failing to find a parking space at Green Truck burgers. Anyway I'm glad we came here, the meat is really good--better than it once was, & they took some things off the menu but everything that we tried was tasty, seems like they are more focused. Also they have crayons, changing tables, & high chairs which is always a plus for my family. I had the Forsyth burger & curly fries and they were super yummy, DH had a burger w pimento cheese & bacon and it was super yummy too!!! The service is great and it's not pricey either . Yay burgers. Also the burgers are pretty giant, 4 hours later I am still full lol.

Stopped by 6/11/14. Out of towners (first time). Looking for some local burger joint. Right off the bat, Hostess acted like she could care less that we were here. Very dejected and seemed like she was not wanting to be here. Music on speakers was rap crap! Staff obviously had NO CLUE that a storm had just come through and outside temp had dropped 15-20 degrees. WAS FREEZING inside!!! They fixed after asking but common sense would have been nice by management... Asked our server, during ordering, if a certain burger came with any condiments on it... She said "what do you mean", so she either doesn't know what the word condiments means or she wasn't paying attention. Explained to her what condiments were and she said they (mayo, ketchup & mustard) were on the table. Bathroom was fairly clean and smelled good (which is important to me with kids). Hot Dog for my 9yo looked like a convenience store offering that had been sitting around around for 30min. Dried ends and looked reheated. Asked to speak to manager and she replaced it with a fresh one. Unacceptable that a cook would even consider sending that out in first place! And they still charged us for it!?!? WOW Tiny bison burger (doesn't even look like 1/4 lb) was NOT worth $17!!!! Fries are ok. Same supplier as Arbys it seems. Custom burger was good with goat cheese and spinach. Other food was good as reported by the 3 others in our party. WAY over staffed for 4pm. Literally 6-8 servers for the 6 tables that were filled. Paid cash and server didn't bring coin change back. Had to ask for it... Really? Wife said she was in bathroom when one worker didn't wash their hands. maybe they have hand stations in back? Why chance it. So, not a good experience. Won't be back on this vacation.

Attentive servers, good burgers and drinks. Kids liked it a lot. The variety of burgers featuring local names of streets is a cool idea. Happy hour for craft beers, can't beat it.

  • C S.

This location lacks customer service. Past two times we have had less than acceptable service. Gave them another chance today, went in were seated immediately then watched for 10 minutes as multiple servers and the manager walked right past us without a drink order or even an acknowledgement. Walked out, letting the staff know why and although the hostess seemed apologetic the rest of staff could have cared less. Wont be back.

B&d burgers use to be good food. The prices are ridiculous. A burger I could get 5 years ago is now double that price and the quality has gone down. The portion of fries are smaller then a small frie that you could get at McDonald's. It's a burger joint not a five star place they need to stop having 5 star prices. Another thing they have gotten rid of a lot of their classic menu no more spud mountain or nacho and I can't even remember all the burgers that have been taken off the menu. All I can really say if you want a good burger there are 5 places with in 5 mins of this place that have a better burger and you won't be paying 12-14 bucks for a nothing special beef burger, Or 19 dollars for a bison burger. Come guys get your act together. I just feel with every new store that has open the prices go up and the quality goes down.

Love this place! First time coming here and everyone was so kind. The staff was so nice and we had a server named Julie and was one of the best waitresses I have ever had! She was so helpful and sincere. I have a gluten allergy and she told me about all of my options. They even have gluten-free buns! This is one of the first places I went to that I have multiple options for gluten-free meals. The service was so quick and the food was wonderful! They also have a military discount! I will be back ASAP!

Do not order the fried pickles, they are greasy and nasty. The roast beef was pretty good though. Service is just so so.

  • Steve H.

So disappointed , was really looking forward to eating here , heard good things, but I won't return... Ordered the colonial , with elk, which is my favorite meat. The burger was dry over cooked and the skinniest piece of meant I've ever had. Mc d s makes a thinker burger . Egg was crunchy and bacon was undercooked ... And it was 18 dollars. One bright spot the onion rings were awesome

    (2)
  • Tracy W.

Well the verdict is that it was just ok. Not bad but not great either. The onion rings were not all they were hyped up to be. I have had much better elsewhere. The service was good...but that's not enough for me to come back anytime soon.

A big, fat MEH. Hubby got a burger- I think it was called Colonial- with Bacon and Egg. We've eaten at several burger joints though out 3 states in the past year and we know great burgers- this was not one. It wasn't bad, but wasn't anything impressive. I had the chicken tender basket. I wanted them tossed but they didn't offer a medium sauce. I was concerned the Hot may be too hot and I wouldn't enjoy them so I opted to get mild with a side of hot to dip them in should I want to kick the fingers up a notch. The mild tasted like straight butter, not really what I wanted when craving buffalo sauce. The hot was ok, nothing special though. The breading on the tenders was weird. They charge you 69cent to change your side of fries to a different side of fries which I find a bit ridiculous. The standard fry is a fresh cut and then they offer to change those out to "fry of the week" (shoestring this week), seasoned curly fries, tater tots, and a couple other options. I don't mind up charges when going from something like fries to a bake potato, but going from one kind of a fry to another seems a bit unnecessary, especially since half the restaurant had something other than the fresh cut fries.

I have eaten here several times and at both other locations downtown as well. This location is my second favorite with the newest one in city market being number one. I usually like changing up what burger I get with my favorite being their most popular burger the Colonial, which has cheese, bacon, and fried egg. On today's visit I decided to go with the one topped with a fried green tomato and pimento cheese. It was pretty good but not as good as similar pimento cheese burgers I've had at other spots. Don't get me wrong I would order it again from time to time but will not be my go to like the others I've had. All locations have tons of different burgers with numerous topping combinations and even a build your own which gives lots of variety and is fun trying the different ones. They also have several different types of fries from regular, curly, crinkle cut, tater tots, sweet potato, etc. As there burgers go they are fun and creative and usually pretty good but the one thing that keeps these burgers from being off the chain is the meat, which in my opinion is lacking in that good beefy flavor. Don't get me wrong I know this is more about the toppings and I get and appreciate that but there are other spots in town that have the same concept but keep the integrity of what it is, a burger. I will give this location the credit that more often than not they know how to cook the burger to all the different temperatures they offer, which in my opinion is a big deal. The rest of there menu is pretty good as well from the hot dogs, wings, chicken sandwiches, and apps. Overall a good menu with good food but very few things that just blow me out the water. They do have a very good beer selection and that paired with the uniqueness of the burgers and fun atmosphere will keep me coming back.

We had a table of six. Three of the orders were wrong, but quickly fixed. The server was friendly and tried hard, maybe new? The food was average. Lots of varieties of burgers. Just an average place. If you've got a hour for lunch and want burgers but nothing special, I'd recommend this place.

My husband and I were starving when we got into Savannah and we passed B & D on the way in, so we decided to go. Apparently if you're not a college-aged male, you don't get good service. There was a table of about 15 or so 22(ish) year olds beside us. They got great service - refills, the waitress coming by to see them occasionally, checks in a timely fashion, etc. We had no such luck. I should have seen that one coming when the hostess called our name and immediately turned around, plopped the menus down at a table and walked away, all without saying a word to us. I'm glad we saw where she went, because after throwing the menus on the table, she vanished from the hostess stand. Besides the horrible service (I'm a stickler for that stuff )- the food was actually pretty good. We got the fried pickle appetizer and it was yummy. It was dill chips in a tempura-like batter. Bravo! I got the Lucas Burger, which besides not being cooked medium (it was bordering well-done) was very good. The homemade Kaiser roll made it. My husband got the Troupe Square Burger (Bring It On-sized) and he loved it. He ordered his burger medium as well and his was barely medium rare, but he didn't seem to mind. Kudos also on the sweet potato fries. They were perfect. All-in-all, crappy service, good food.

I went here Saturday night and it is SO delish! It had the biggest selection of burgers ive ever seen and they all looked good! I chose the turkey burger with two onion rings, blue cheese crumbles, and cheddar cheese. This is a place you just have to go to again!

  • Ben C.

If you love Savannah's local historical propaganda as much I do, then the gimmicky local historical titles of the food will be icing on the cake. These are some huge and massive "tasty burgers." What is unique are the toppings. Each has their own unique, out of the box topping combos to entice and challenge the pickiest of eater's (me) to adventure. Now that I am no longer a local, I crave even the most challenging of flavor's there. Sniff.

A good enough place to go for drinking or for trivia night, if you just must go to this restaurant. But don't eat the food (it's not great, and there's a good chance you'll get sick), and don't expect good service (because you aren't going to get it). Myself and others I know who have eaten at this B&D's location (at different times, eating different menu items) have ended up with food poisoning. I haven't been to B&D's downtown location, only Southside, so perhaps that one is better ...

I am not one to usually review things, but since I choose to eat here based on reviews and the claim of "best burger in Savannah" I felt compelled to warn others. This is single- handily one of the worst burgers I have ever had a bite of, because I could not stomach more than that. There is no way that these burgers are fresh, handmade, or not once frozen. The meat was so processed and disgusting that it made a fast food burger seem great. Before receiving my burger my husband and I ordered the wings which has obviously been frozen, lacked flavor, and were covered with plain bottled hot sauce, not buffalo sauce has the menu claimed. I will never visit this establishment again and cannot understand how anyone could enjoy this food.

The patty is juicy, properly cooked and the toppings...OMG! You can build your own burger! I combined a fried egg, guacamole, and a fried green tomato! It was one of the most delicious (casual style restaurant) burgers I've had. Mostly because of the topping choices. Fun to do! The fries were soggy and very oily, From what I hear from others, it's hit & miss on the fried sides. So, it's not just me. The wait staff is flirty college chics in bootie shorts...ugh..whatever. Just go for a beer and have fun building yourself a good burger. It's a lunch-time novelty that's worth its price of $9.

  • Lakia M.

Waitress made me very uncomfortable...I don't know if she was hitting on me or not. She totally ignored the other two people I came in with and just dealt with me...I wasn't the one paying. Not saying her service was bad but it was just damn creepy. Also your kitchen staff needs to stay in the kitchen. Coming out to "talk" is just a sorry excuse to scan the restaurant for 'shorties'. Just rude. Burger should had been bigger, more mushrooms and onions. Coleslaw was delicious. And change out the bucket water before you mop the entrance, mildew smelling water is NOT what I want to smell when walking into a restaurant.

Huge selection of burgers...and seemingly the only decent restaurant that's open past 1am. My boyfriend and I got a late start to the evening, and after heading out to the Distillery (didn't order food), we wandered aimlessly stopping by restaurant after restaurant---none were open. Yikes! After deciding we were probably skrewed on eating that night, we stopped by Applebee's assuming it's a late night kind of place. Nope, it closes at 1am people. Behold---next door! It was open and inviting. Like I said, the burgers were massive but my favvvvvorite were the fried pickles. Crispy batter on the outside, slightly tangy and sweet on the inside. Perfection. I ordered the grilled shrimp salad and it was more than plentiful. My bf got the burger (build your own?) and I found it tasty! This place isn't necessarily a "must" to go to when you're in town, but it's absolutely worth it for a late night dining experience.

Sadly disappointed. First of all, burger didn't taste quite right, also, it was over seasoned, as were the fries. I also thought it was over priced. Just not a good value, in my opinion.

B&D burgers is the place to go if you are in the mood for a great burger or a sandwich. I love the burgers here and the choices for the toppings are great. The last time I was here I actually decided to order a grilled chicken sandwich and it was fantastic. I got the "fry of the week" which was actually homemade chips and they were amazing. I wish they were offered all the time!

  • Lisa W.

Cold burgers. mediocre service. Fast food quality at over inflated prices. All burgers with side average 10$ each. Waited a long time to be served a cold burger with fries. Only vegetables on the menu are salads or burger toppings. Won't be going back.

  • Adam S.

I think this is one of the better burgers in Savannah. There are tons of topping combos to choose from. The meat on the burger is pretty good quality. I usually get a half pound burger that is cajun seasoned with an egg, onion rings, bacon, and mozzarella cheese medium rare. The good news is that they actually cook it medium rare. I would strongly encourage you to order a 1/2 lbs burger here. The bun is a little large for a 1/3 lb. A good thing about this place is that it is open on Sunday (for those of you not from here it can be difficult to find dinner Sunday night).

We had a sneak peek of B&D burgers while on a food tour and decided to give it a shot the next day. Sad to say, I wish we had given it a pass! The service was the worst part...there many long stretches of a missing waitress. Wait to order, wait for drinks, LONG wait for food, wait for check, wait for card to be run. The food took so long to get to us that it was lukewarm. The waitress apologized and said she had tables on the patio. We were on the second floor so not sure why she was assigned to us. While the food was fine, it was not enough to balance out the poor service. We are sending an email to the food tour operator to suggest they take this place off their recommended list.

Well, this place use to be one of my favorites. Not anymore. The quality has gone down hill. The servers all seem to forget the reason they are there. To Serve. The 6 times at lunch time here have been BAD. The smell of dirty mop bucket water on the floor. Burned buns and meat or under cooked. Sweet tea that didn't taste right. I see this place going out of business on the course it's on right now. My previous review said this - Oh yea!!! A lunch time favorite when my carnivore appetite for a good local burger kicks in. Decent service, clean, and very good food. Have lunch here frequently and never had a problem. Thanks B & D!!!

Always great burgers! Always great service. The food is exactly how you expect it to be and they don't scrimp on anything. The fried pickets here are a must for any dining type.

What a huge selection of burgers....! It was hard to choose, but we managed... My sister had "The Tattnall" veggie burger and I had "The City Market" 1/2 lb burger. We enjoyed our burgers and we also got the corn nuggets appetizer which was tasty. This place was filled with families and college students--but we did not feel out of place. If you want a great burger that is pretty affordable, B&D is a great option!

  • Travis E.

The staff is very friendly, the burgers are pretty good as well. I've had much better, but B&D is definitely a cut above the average chain burger. I had the Wormsloe, my only complaint is that the cheese could have been stronger.

First of all, no hostess at the door. Had a few of the wait staff breeze by with an excuse me. Took s few minutes but we ordered drinks. So far. Okay. BUT, the Simpsons were on every TV, even the big one! It's a Friday night at almost 10pm. Hmmmm. Now it's the news. Jeez! Still no food. based on s previous review I was a little afraid to ask them to change it, haha. Food arrived. Burger was tasty but a little over cooked. Onion rings disappointing, soggy, cold. All the while the manger hung out at a table full of girls. I mean the entire time we were in the restaurant. Entire. Time. And the news is still on..... Two stars. Only for the burger.

I went to B&D for the first time tonight and to be honest it was a bit of a disappointment. First off they were playing Fox News on a huge TV screen which may be a plus or a neutral for some people but that really turned me off of the restaurant. They have a ton of options on the menu and I wanted to go there because they offer a veggie burger option, which as a vegetarian is a huge positive. I ordered a veggie burger with habanero jack cheese and an egg and got the regular homemade fries on the side. The veggie patty was super bland. It looked like maybe a brown rice patty and it had no flavor. The bun was great but I couldn't taste much of the cheese on the burger and the egg was way overcooked. I liked the fries and they had a lot of potential but it seemed like maybe they had been sitting out because some of them were rubbery. Our server was very attentive; however, I was put off by the fact that she asked my male companion whether he specifically was ready for the check and handed it to him--nowadays most restaurants put the bill in the middle and don't make assumptions about who will be paying.

I really have enjoyed B&D's Burgers when eating here. I especially like the menu options and the topping choices. If variety truly is the spice of life then B&D's got it right. As did swingers and hot sauce manufacturers, but not Variety Magazine oddly enough. The menu truly is a menu here, with decisions to be made left and right. If you're an indecisive person, you should probably eat somewhere they tell you what to put on your burger. Here, everything is optional. From the meat (the turkey is great) to the sides (sweet potato fries every time) you create your meal. In the end, you can get a gourmet burger under a $10 price tag. On top of that, they have a "Bring It On!" challenge, which I'm a sucker for and so apparantly is America, with the success of Travel Channel's "Man Versus Food." Anyway, I'm not feeling the negatives in these other reviews. My meal was tasty and well prepared and I went home feeling nothing but satisfied.

The many options for the burgers is a huge plus! Any burger joint that has fresh guacamole is a winner in my book. The beer options and appetizers are a plus as well.

  • John M.

This place is good. sometimes it is awesome, but it all depends on what burger you order and if they cook it to the right temperature. They have like 35,999,473 kinds of burgers to choose from.

    (4)
  • Corey S.

Some of the nastiest food I have ever had to pay for. Where I come from medium rare doesn't mean a hockey puck frozen burger. They forgot half my burger toppings. That doesn't matter much though, seeing as what I did get was so gross as it was I do not think anything could have helped it.

I go to all the other locations. This place has bad service, drinks are overpriced, and they tried to tell me they don't discount the souvenir cups anymore. What bogus. I'll stick to the pooler locations.

Thoroughly disgusting. Everything was greasy and foul. I couldn't even eat my burger it was so raw. All the sides were pathetic and soggy. No no no.
