The last time I checked at the store food cost were not up 50% like they have raised their prices. Food is always well done miserable. GO TO THE WAFFLE HOUSE

I want to give it 3.5 stars right now. We've only been once. I LOVED my food. I had the meatloaf because if you can't get meatloaf right as a diner, you are finished. The food is not cheap, it was $56 before tip, and 1 of my 3 daughters didn't eat a meal (but the portions are large to extra large). The child menu is as expensive as some entrys. BUT.....they use real ingredeints and good family receipe's...which costs money. The north edge of East Cobb may not be ready for Buckhead prices, but in time I think patrons will appreciate the value. If you skip the rediculously large deserts, you can save some good cash. It has the kind of menu that reminds you of the shows on Food network about good diners. I will go back without the kids and do some more experimenting. I'm sorry, but if you think the owner is rude, you don't get it. He's not rude, he's Greek. Greeks have a very up front way of operating. In this area packed with passive aggressive narcissists, sitting on your opinion until in the safe confines of your home, and then blasting him doesn't get it......he's not going to give you anything, but he won't hold it against you if you stand your ground. I learned this from years eating out in Tarpon Springs Florida.....a holdover from the old world of Greek Sponge diving, now a tourist area. I thought the staff was pretty darn good, we had good wit and banter, they actually talked with the kids instead of through the parents, and the atmosphere was positive...the kitchen looked spotless considering they were flying with a full house when we were there. The diner was sorely needed for those of us who grew up hitting one on a weekly basis. We like O'Charleys and the new Chepe's locally, but I can see myself back here when I want to cheat on my regular eating routing.

Hostess could not figure out how to cross names off a list. Nicky decided his best option was to blame the customer. Food was bland. Won't be back.

The Food Is Great! Do Not Go To The Waffle House! GO TO NICKY'S DINER!

I have eaten here over 6 times. Never again. Second to last time, I was served fish that managed to be raw and hot at the same time and it was not sushi. When I complained, the manager suggested prime rib which I agreed to. When the bill came, not only did we get charged for the prime rib, it was more expensive than my original meal. The poor waiter was appalled, and managed to argue the extremely arrogant manager into charging us half. I gave them one more chance - our lunch had cucumbers that had clearly been frozen, and my son's last bite of gyro meat was gritty from dirt. The owner tried to give us a free desert, but I never want to eat anything else there again.

One word. Gyro! From New York to GA this is the place you want to go to eat an Gyro. If you have not tried it yet then you are missing out! Family friendly atmosphere, great service, great food.

So after a few years of horrible service and horrible food, Nicky's Diner has closed. Hopefully something beneficial to the neighborhood moves in.

our server was very nice but besides that we ordered and soon after we left. The restaurant was almost empty which we thought was a good thing. 30 minutes after we ordered we ended up leaving and there was no food served yet. The only thing we got was the lemon chicken soup which tasted like 5 lemons were squeezed on top on creamy bulky mixture. it wasn't good at all. we left because while waiting we realized the floor was extremely dirty, the table cloth had some kind of fungus on it and the bathroom door was super sticky, and other stuff. I always try to go to small businesses to support small business owners but this place really needs to step up on their appearance and cleanliness of the restaurant. Then I saw that their health report was 52% and realized it was definitely time to leave.

  • Krud D.

They just got a 52 on thier health score for a bevy of different reasons..... thats it... never again.

Glad this place finally closed. Perhaps we can get a better option in the neighborhood.

I stopped going to Nicky's several years ago because the quality of the food was really not good. I tried it again due to proximity (I was in the area). I ordered water with lemon and the very sweet waitress brought me 3 lemon slices that looked like they had been sitting in a prep container for several weeks. They were mushy, old and slimy to the touch. The spinach and feta omelette was just okay. The eggs seemed rubbery (if that's possible). I wish the quality was there, but it's not. I get a feeling that the owners are trying to save on food costs by holding on to food long past their freshness expiration date. I also ordered a salad and the lettuce was brown. How can anyone send out brown salad? Also the oil & vinegar bottles haven't been wiped down and that tells me the cleanliness in the back is not a priority. Whoever is monitoring the quality in the back is turning a blind eye to some serious freshness issues! Also, no milk! How does a place that calls itself a diner not have milk?

Don't Compare it to the Marietta Diner.... Too many places in Atlanta feel that by serving a mishmash of cuisines, they can claim diner-like status. (Sorry -- it doesn't work that way.) With that said, Nicky's IS a real diner. and not a bad one at that. Granted, it doesn't compare to the Marietta Diner, but the few times I've met friends there for lunch, it wasn't bad. You can't go wrong if you order food that one would typically get in a diner: burgers, omlettes, salads -- stuff like that. I was sorry when their predecessor, Backyard Burgers, went out -- but delighted when Nicky's opened. It's a welcome addition to the neighborhood -- and for what it is, it's not bad. May 2015 -- C L O S E D (I think this is a doomed location; despite the busy intersection, no business makes out here.) Anyway, I'm sorry. While not haute cuisine, I was never disappointed with the diner-type food I always ordered. Nor did I ever experience problems with service.

Food is actually pretty good, and you will not leave hungry..... I would come back again if I lived in Georgia still. The biggest issue to me was the Owner or Manager was a micro-manager, I felt bad for hours staff, and he stared at our table like he was worried my kids were going to destroy the place.... And my kids were extremely well behaved.

After having the most delicious Moussaka, I went back for breakfast, my friend ordered open faced bagel with lox, cream cheese and capers, and I had the Greek Omelet, well the bagel with lox looked good, but cream cheese was on the side, and he had put it on, the lettuce? It was 2 large piece under the bagel, he wanted it on his bagel but being very particular he decided not to use them (I guess I could have pulled it and cut it in small pieces) Well my omelet looked just plain disgusting (see photo I posted), ZERO presentation skills, it just didn't look good, the omelet it self was greasy and wet, it tasted like it was cooked in water a bit. the home fries were over cooked and brown, the slice of orange on the side was dirty. One small bite was only I could eat of that omelet, so I ate the over cooked home fries and toast (they charged me for what I ate, charged us $19 for bagel with lox, toast, home fries and coffee... )

horrible. do not risk getting sick or getting a bad meal. they served me a cheeseburger with no cheese, no tomato or lettuce. simply a bun and a patty. these dont give a shit. mayo was white and yellow. I was scared. these people have given up.

A very mediocre restaurant when first opened, Nicky's has spiraled further and further downward by increasing prices and decreasing quality. They have a pretty decent gyro as well as a few other sandwiches, but you'd best spend your money elsewhere.

  • Martin F.

Don't expect upscale "Buckhead Diner" food here. This is basic diner food prepared decently with nice portion sizes. The service, in our half-dozen or so visits over the last 6 months, has been alright if unsteady. Food quality varies from trip to trip as well. Not a bad place....but not a really good one either.

    (2)
  • Sharon B.

I thought it was pretty good. I had the lox and bagel, the lox was fresh, the service was good, and it reminded me of every other diner I had ever been in when in new York or long island. It's a diner, not a gourmet restaurant. I'd go back again.

Place was packed and looking for some comfort food for breakfast. Not many choices in Roswell..figured give it a shot. Nope, like a memorable Seinfeld episode with bad food. High entertainment value, but there are a few other choices;)

Was going to go to my normal place, IHOP but the line was to long so we decided to try Nicky's. It was not that busy for a Sunday morning, we got there were seated promptly then we waited for someone to take at least or drink orders, and waited and waited and waited.... Keep in mind people who came in after us got coffee and their orders taken, we even tried to flag down servers to take our order (5 times they walked by) after 20 mins we walked out and I am now at IHOP.... Should have just waited the first time. So I cannot rate their food but I can tell you service SUCKS I will never go back and will make sure anyone I know does not go there.

The last two times during the past year I was so unhappy when I left. Yesterday I thought I would try it again. I had the same bad server who took her time, acted frustrated like she did 8 months ago when she was new, etc. The food was cold, they were not busy, I ate half of the food and left the money on the table and walked out. I will not go back, they started out better but raised prices and the food is not great. I do believe they have changed owners at least once. I would advise to go elsewhere, even Waffle House!

Nicky's has a clean, cozy environment and the food is yummy. If you want comfort food, try the Grecian 1/2 chicken over roasted potatoes with feta, peppers, onions and tomatoes. Excellent dish! I can also recommend the Cashew chicken & Advacado Wrap... sooooo flavorful!

  • Jason B.

The menu and prices are attractive but good less than desired. French toast was awful - do not order. I didn't know you could screw up French toast. Grits were bland, but most people can't make grits unless they were born in the South. :)

We stopped in for breakfast/lunch. We were shown to a table by the hostess and then a server came to take our drink order. The hostess came over to tell the server that we were not her table. She said she would go ahead and take the drinks before she handed it over. It might have been a little more professional for the server to make the change after the drink order had been taken and not in front of the customer. I could not resist the gravy and biscuits Nothing special. The gravy was from a mix and the sausage was bland and almost overcooked. Not bad, not good. The pastrami and corned beef comes on hamburger buns! And one of the sandwiches was made from two tops! I shouldn't complain because that probably means that somebody out there got a sandwich with two bottoms! Doubtless, the most tasteless pastrami I have ever encountered. Eggs Benedict had been sitting a while and had started to coagulate before it arrived at the table. The English muffin was stale and hard to cut. The hash browns were good, however. They have a huge menu so they probably do a lot of different things badly. If you want a lot of food for your money, come to Nicky's . If you want good food, go someplace else.

i've eaten hear quite a few times. i really like the gyro or the greek omelet.. the potatoes with the omelet are outstanding. i've also had the grecian chicken and would recommend it too. service is pretty good. overall, i think that its a pretty good diner.

Awful. The owners are not friendly. The food is not fresh. Unprofessional wait staff. This place will not last long.

  • Christine B.

Never again! Tried to give this place the benefit of the doubt several times. the last time, was the last straw. raw, cold, and uncooked food. Rude manager couldn't get off his soap box long enough to help solve the food problems. I feel bad for the sweet servers who have to deal with this guy everyday. There are many other good restaurants to choose from close by. Any of them including KFC would be better than this place.

We have been to Nicky's many times and have enjoyed the food whenever and whatever we have ordered. The problem now is that the prices have been raised again by the new owner. That wouldn't be so bad except the omelet we used to pay $8 for now would cost over $13. They have stopped the "breakfast specials" and almost all the breakfast items are now "a la carte" for your omelet fillings and breads. That can really add up quickly. Don't get me wrong, I love the folks and food at Nicky's, but will not be returning soon due to the exorbitant rise in prices.

  • Lee W.

Low quality food. Horrible coffee, the order is never correct. We keep giving it "another chance" because there is nothing else around. I think we will just go to McDonalds.

So the kid, the wife and I tried Nicky's Diner last night after passing it several times in the last few months. I wasn't real impressed. The food tasted ok, but the portions were really small ( I mean, like 12 fries in an order of fries.) My daughter ordered toast with her pasta and the butter was still solid and cold on it (how can toast NOT have melted butter?) Eh!

    (2)
  • Art V.

Charged $1 extra to remove 2 yolks from my eggwhite omelet. Total ripoff. They will provide unlimited refills on coffee and soft drinks. However, on a $1.75 cup of hot tea they demand that you re-use an exhausted teabag on refills of hot water. My wife was able to enjoy 3 cups of coffee but I had to squeeze the life out of a used five cent teabag. Won't be returning.

First, the other review I read is incorrect. We went at 8 PM on a Tuesday and my wife ordered breakfast. No problems. You can order whatever you want on the menu any time except the lunch specials. The good: I had the Reuben Sandwich and it was very good. Also, unlike a ton of GA restaurants, the sweet tea actually tasted like sweet tea and not sugar water due to being over sweetened. Also, the waitress was honest in telling us that one of the sides was not good. I love an honest waitress. Also, the have sugar free deserts, which is rare, and my mom is diabetic. The Bad: My wife had the chop steak and eggs. Everything was good except the steak, which was bland. The man that seated us said "ok, the next 3.". Well, there were like 10 people standing there. How was I supposed to know that was us? That is what the paper with names on it is for. The You Decide: The menu is insane!! You name it, they have it. This could be good or bad depending on the diner. I will go again to try a Gyro as they seemed very popular.

Umm...yeah, it's terrible. Terrible food and terrible service. I'd write more, but this was truly a forgettable experience...and I mean that.

I got a simple meal. Pancakes, eggs, bacon and sausage. Pancakes had no flavor and rubbery. The old man seems entertaining at first but is really rude, self righteous, and quite obnoxious. Will never go back. I'd rather cook

    (1)
  • Steve P.

Still terrible, You might be lucky enough to watch the owners berate and belittle a server while dining there. Still a joke and over priced for GREY conrned Beef

  • Jerry P.

At best the food is OK. I am good with the breakfast but wouldn't go there for lunch or dinner. I do enjoy the patio and to me the wait staff is fine. I find them pretty efficient and friendly. They work as a team to keep your drinks filled and if you Ned something you can flag almost anyone down. My recommendation to them would be to reduce the number of items on the menu and do whatever you keep better.

My husband and I went here for dinner on a weeknight and it was packed SOLID with people. The menu was diverse and unexpectedly varied. We asked the waitress for recommendations on what to order. She recommended the two Greek dishes, which is what we ordered. I liked my dish (it was chicken stuffed with spinach and feta cheese), but my husband didn't really care for his dish (chicken with tomatoes & feta served over angel hair pasta). The food portions were huge and my dinner came with a salad, which was nice. The prices are decent when you consider the portions you receive. I took my extra food home and ate it for lunch the next day. I got lots of "ooohs" and "aahs" when I reheated it in the break room at my office. We did order dessert (plain cheesecake) and the serving was HUGE! The crust was not a traditional graham cracker crust, but more of a cake, which we were not enthused with, but we just ate around it. It's very convenient to our house, so we'll probably be back, but not some place I see myself craving. It's more about the convenience for us - I see ourselves heading here when we need to get decent food at a decent price relatively quickly located near our house. Very family friendly. NOTE: They do NOT accept AMEX!

  • Laura B.

Okay food, waaaaaaay overpriced! Expect to spend 50. or more for a basic dinner for 4, including 2 kid's meals. The food is nothing special, Marietta Diner is much better. One positive, they include a scoop of ice cream with the kids meals.

  • Jennifer B.

Of all things for a diner to screw up, it should not be the coffee. It was completely flavorless. The first time we went I got steak and eggs, and I had to send my eggs back because they came to me raw. I honestly think that they just threw those very eggs back on the griddle, and when I began to eat the steak, it tasted rotten! I had already sent one item back, and I guess I felt shy about sending the other thing back, so I just ate around it. We decided to give them another try, bc they are just so gosh darn convenient to us. And being a person in the restaurant industry, I guess I just wanted to believe we caught them on a bad day. I avoided the steak and eggs, obviously, so I ordered the eggs benedict and it was again awful! But the coffee took me by shock. I don't think I finished a full cup, which is rare for me. My boyfriend ordered the corned beef hash, and he was equally disappointed. He said we were better off at a Waffle House, where they atleast know how to make a passable breakfast. We were asked upon leaving how breakfast was, and I responded "disappointing". No reaction or questions from the lady taking our money. From the looks of it when we drive by, other people are staying away too. We look forward to seeing what business goes in next in that great location. Clearly, from all the (tacky) faux painting and the custom patio enclosures, a lot of money went in to decorating. Shame that it wasn't a better kitchen staff and front of house management.

Went to Nicky's tonight and had breakfast for my evening meal. The combination of two eggs, two pancakes, sausage, bacon and a choice of hash brown potatoes, grits or oatmeal was more than sufficient to satisfy my large appetite. All were prepared just as I ordered. And the coffee was served hotter than at most fancier restaurants. I was more than pleased and will certainly be back again.....soon!! Oh, our waitress was extra nice too. I always love good service with a smile.

  • PG M.

We have been quite a few times since it opened. And I thought it was solid diner food. The Greek salad is really good, the wraps are very good, lentil soup and gyro is good. I thought the fries were delicious. The moussaka was disappointing. The kids meals are very generous, could have some healthier offerings for kids, but it is a diner. I think they are going through some teething pains with the waitstaff, but our waiters were always very attentive, and I would say the service we received was above average. If you are looking for Greek NJ style diner food, you could do a lot worse than this.

  • Sheri M.

went for the first time with kids. Got seated right away, but then waited 15 min. for server. food took over 30 minutes to arrive and was not great. They charged me $1+ to substitute side of coleslaw for potato salad. Then had to wait over 20 min. in line to pay. Owner was very rude to patrons. He's lucky we all did not walk out without paying. Can't figure out why they are always busy. Will never go back.
