We had friends visiting from India so ordered some take out. Everyone agreed our selections were delicious-- paneer makhani, chicken tikka masala, sag bhajee, mixed veggies, garlic and plain nan, and raita. Great meal for a reasonable price! I only regret that they don't open until 5:30 pm because we regularly drive by at 5 and would stop more often!

Barf, hands down the worst Indian food ever. They give you some watered down lentil soup that is terrible and the meat is OLD. Drive an extra 5 minutes to Bombay Flames and avoid this place. Their silverware, glasses, and plates are dirty...it doesn't take someone who is detail oriented to notice the filth. I smelled gross after I walked out.

nothing great.. the chicken biryani was nothing like the authentic kind. Biryani should NEVER have peas in it!! the one thing that was ok was the chicken tikka masala.. ( although it was overloaded with red color). All in all.. an OK place if nothing else is open.. (I'd probably still go to waffle house instead ). Also did i mention it was overpriced for the quality of food and decor

Great Indian place. We've actually never been inside, but the delivery is free if you spend $25 or more. We've ordered delivery several times now and we really enjoy it. Always fast, good prices, and great food.

If you're looking for delicious, authentic Indian cuisine, look no further! My boyfriend and I initially tried this place through Scoutmob and have now become regulars. They have the best lunch special in town, which includes soup, entree, side vegetables, naan, and dessert. The staff is so friendly and accommodating, and they have something delicious for any and everyone on their menu. Definitely check this place out. You will not be disappointed!

Would give 3.5/5, but Yelp only wants whole stars, so here goes. The boyfriend and I were watching Gordon Ramsay's show where he had two Indian chefs battling against each other. This sparked an intense craving for Indian food. We looked on Eat24 (I had a coupon) and saw this place had delivery. Score. We ordered the Chef Set for 1 (which included chicken tikka, chicken 65, lamb curry, aloo matar gobi, rice, naan, kulfi, and tea) as well as extra naan and samosas. The chicken tikka was slightly dry and underseasoned, however, the side of masala sauce i ordered was out of this world (some of the best masala I've had). The chicken 65 was a little underseasoned as well and chewy. The lamb curry was tender, well seasoned and well cooked. The aloo matar gobi was probably my favorite dish (which I didn't anticipate, as I typically don't eat vegetarian options). It was very well seasoned and slightly spicy. The vegetables were all well cooked and in decent portions. The samosas were very greasy and the filling wasn't spectacular. The kulfi's consistency was off,. but very tasty. From a service standpoint, they forgot the chicken 65 from our delivery and originally gave us pistachio kulfi instead of the mango we ordered. I wound up driving to the restaurant to have it fixed. They were very courteous and fixed it right away. Will go again for the lunch buffet. Definitely worth a try if you're in the area.

I ordered take-out from here recently. I mentioned to the server that the last time I visited India Chef was when they were located in a plaza on Alpharetta Hwy. The accessibility to this place is probably why I avoided it. However, India Chef can be accessed from the back, after navigating between the buildings in the adjacent plaza. Seven years later... I called ahead and my food was ready when I arrived. I ordered Tandoori chicken and fried rice. The fried rice is prepared with peas, onions, egg and butter. The chicken came with a side of rice however, I declined since I ordered the fried rice. The fried rice was okay; it did not taste as good as I expected. This was the first time I ordered fried rice from an Indian restaurant. The Tandoori chicken was good, but the portion was smaller than I am used to getting from other places.

I have ordered pick up here twice, and both times the food was delicious. There are very few options in Roswell, and I would say check it out!

Ordered food to be delivered at 12:30 and after being told to expect it in 30 minutes we did not receive the order until 2:20pm. Almost two hours. Cold food, and they forgot the rice. Not a good experience.

I am not a big Indian cuisine lover, but wanted to try something new. ScoutMob led me to this restaurant. I really enjoyed the food and service. I will definitely come back again. If you are in the area and looking for a good spot to try give India Chef a try!

Sadly the quality is not what it once was. Have now gone twice to see if it was just a bad day.. But no, the quality has plummeted. Bland, tasteless and not spiced with anything reminiscent of indian fare.

Upon arriving told them we were using a Groupon. We were the only ones there on a Firday night at 8:45pm. Halfway through our meal, a cockroach ran across our table/food and I screamed before we ran out. The server just brushed the roach off with a napkin and didn't even kill it! They just moved our table and still billed us. Wow. We will never return. I do not recommend this restaurant.

Friendly service and excellent food. One of the better Indian Restaurants in Roswell/Alpharetta. Chicken Tikka Masala is verrrrrry good!

I've been in here a few times in the 9 years or so that I've lived in the area. Food is pretty good, on pace with the other local Indian restaurants. I had a coupon so my wife and I stopped in for an impromptu date night. Food was what we expected and we were wrapping up with what we thought to be a nice meal. The manager had waited in us and as they were slow and service was good. As he was clearing the table however, a cockroach races across the front of me on the table. He managed to kill it, mind you, after I had just finished a rather large meal which suddenly didn't sit so well after knowing that I was eating with an uninvited dinner guest. He gave me a haphazard explanation as to it being some sort of an isolated incident but after reading another review, the roaches must make somewhat regular appearances. He brought me my $53 dollar bill with no offer to adjust it for nearly having had a cockroach jump in my lap, which I paid and promptly left. I'm not the type of person to make scenes but to me it would go without saying in the restaurant business that if something like that happens on your watch you would do everything short of giving away the whole store to save a customer... Which brings me here.

I've eaten here a few times and this time the food was exceptionally good.. Fresh and delicious. I ordered for dinner shrimp tiki marsala and chicken vindaloo. Both dishes were fantastic but the shrimp was my favorite. Just the right amount of spice and sweetness. I'm not sure why this place has such bad reviews but do yourself a favor and give it a try.

India Chef USED to be THE place for Indian food on the Northside OTP. Previously located on Alpharetta Highway (Hwy 9), they moved to their current spot on Holcomb Bridge about 5 years ago. Converted an old house into an odd looking establishment. Small parking lot and quite remedial inside. Early on, I would always get my food to go and it was quite delicious. The past few years have changed as Windward now has some amazing Indian restaurants that put this place to shame. I do occasionally stop by for the $6.99 lunch special, but it has become stale with few options and appears to have been sitting for a while. Service here is also quite curt and at times rude. Disappointed that my once awesome, local Indian location has degenerated to this. Dinner is also super expensive compared to other places in the area. Don't know what happened, but now I get my Indian fixes on Windward during working hours.

One of the best Indian restaurants I have visited. The servers and owner are always friendly and welcoming. They go out of their way to make each visit an enjoyable one. It's my first choice when I want Indian food. I'm a picky eater and don't understand the negative reviews that others have left. I've never had a bad experience and have probably dined here 100 times during lunch and dinner hours.

Seriously good Indian food. I started with a mango smoothie type drink which was like biting a ripe mango, the appetizer platter with chicken tikka, sheekh kebab, Somosa, and onion pakoras was amazing, my vegetable malai kufta was so flavorful and feeling. The atmosphere and music perfect. The garlic naan wonderful. The service perfect.

There are better places in town.... I love Indian food and was happy to give India Chef a try. My daughter and I went for lunch ... and will probably not go back. The food was okay -- not bad -- but the portions were insultingly small. (She had chicken korma, I had chicken tikka, both with very few pieces of chicken.) When I complained to the waiter, he said that the next time I come in they would make it up to us. Problem is..... there would be no 'next time.' India Chef lost potentially good customers because of their stinginess.

Lunch time rendezvous with my husband since our paths happened to cross in Roswell yesterday. There isn't a ton of awesome food in Roswell so decided to try Indian thinking they'd have a buffet. They didn't but had a good lunch menu for around $8.99. It was a bit of everything on a plate, rice, veg curry, lamb curry & a choice of meat. I got chicken tikka & hubs did tandoori. Its plenty of food for lunch. Who needs a buffet only to go into a food coma after. They served it with hot tea, naan & a desert. The food plate was acceptable, tea was hot, naan was hot & fresh, I agree that a bit bland (but the texture was perfect) the dessert was a rice pudding that looked odd to me so I didn't taste it, who knows I may have missed a bite of heaven. There was enough to take in a to go box for snack later, which saved my husbands life when he had to work late. Because of the atmosphere factor, (business phone calls in the reception area) I may not go if I was taking someone out on a date, but for a quick lunch with someone who already loves you is acceptable :) Disclaimer: I spent a few years in India so its hard to be fair & give any place 5 stars.

General summary: - Decent food, prices, and service - Super quiet atmosphere - Generous portions - In need of a face-lift - Sketchy handling of coupons A coupon brought us here, and even though it wasn't honored ("that's only good for dinner - our lunch prices are already low enough") we still had a good experience. Even with all the tables pretty much filled in the bar-dominated dining area, the place was as quiet as a funeral parlor. Soothing, low-volume exotic sounding music could be heard, which added to the serene atmosphere. We were seated promptly, and service was great. This ultra-quiet atmosphere makes conversation tricky, since EVERYONE can hear you unless you talk in low, conspiratorial tones. The booths seem pretty old, and the place in general is in need of a good makeover - exterior and interior both. The cracks on my vinyl seat, fortunately, were a lot less painful to sit on than they looked. We ordered off the "express lunch" menu, which is a great deal. Many items go for $6.99, and combination plates for $8.99, and that includes soup, side of vegetables, and dessert as well. I ordered the chicken curry, spicy, and it was pretty decent. With about 4 or 5 good sized chunks of chicken, accompanied by an ample plate of rice, it was just the right size. Before the meals we were served soup, which tasted like it had lentils and lemon in it and was very good. A generous plate of nan bread accompanied the meal, along with the vegetable-of-the-day: lentils. Dessert was a traditional rice pudding, and was also tasty and nice to have after the spicy chicken. Several lunches can be ordered with your choice of chicken, lamb, or beef - and all at the same price. There are photos of the take-out menu on this site, although the prices on that menu seem slightly inaccurate. When I presented my coupon (a Savvy Shopper), I was told that it was only good at dinner - that the lunch prices were already great - even though nothing on the coupon indicated this restriction. Since the coupon was the main reason for coming here in the first place (we'd never been to India Chef), I was slightly disappointed. So the food, service, and value was probably four stars, but this knocked it down to three. Overall, it was a nice lunch experience. I would have liked a slightly less quiet atmosphere, and for the coupon to have been honored, but other than that I liked the food and the service, and I'll probably come back again.

Not sure who goes to this restaurant! I think the only ppl who go to this place are Roswell locals as there is no other Indian restaurant in Roswell area. Everything about this place is below average but it ain't too bad. You can give it a try.

I looooooove this place. Great food and service (and I have successfully used the scoutmob on my phone, my fiance's phone, my desi Kumar's phone, etc... no hang-ups there). I love it so much I suggested it for Valentine's day dinner this year. And on that night we were sat at a table in the "back room" since it was so crowded. This room must be reserved for shaadis and stuff. It wasn't all that romantic but I wasn't there for the romance (I was there for the butter chicken and copious naan). Everything I've ever consumed there has been good, apps, main meals, bread. Writing this review is making me I wish I had an Indian Chef meal in front of me right now at this very moment. I'd easily pay double the sticker price for such. Last but not least, the waiters are great. There is a shorter, younger guy (sorry, I never caught a name) who hustles his butt off. Nothing makes me smile more than good indian food combined with gold star service! They even deliver! (although not far enough to deliver to my house in Norcross :( )

As someone who used to live in the UK and ate curries about 1-2 times a week, I was really looking forward to going to India Chef. It was close by and we had read a couple of good reviews. To put it mildly, we were hopeful we could make it a regular haunt. How wrong we were. On arrival, we were barely greeted by a waiter who gruffly said, "Two?" We sat down near the window and were brought poppadoms and sauces. One appeared to be a hot, Mexican-like salsa; one a slimy, green mint sauce and the other was something like a sweet Chinese dipping sauce -- about as far from authentic as you could get. Not a great start. Confidence shaken, we decided to order 2 main courses, bread and rice as we still held out some hope that maybe this was just a glitch. I ordered sag paneer, which is traditionally served as a side dish but was priced at an appalling $10.99. My partner ordered chicken jalfrezi, which was $13.99. This came with rice. We also ordered a garlic nan and parata for bread. The sag paneer was OK, nicely spiced though I would think that 4 small cubes of paneer really doesn't make a main dish. The chicken jalfrezi, despite being requested hot and spicy, was anything but and actually bland. The chicken tasted extremely odd and spongy and we decided we'd be better off not eating it. The garlic nan was quite doughy, as though it really hadn't seen much of the tandoor. The parata was delicious though, the only saving grace of the meal. Service was pretty much absent for the most part, with most of the servers happy to chat to each other on the other side of the bar at best or appearing invisible at worst. When our waiter came to take our plates and saw that we had left all the chicken, he asked if we wanted it boxed. We said it wasn't very good. He simply shrugged and took it away. That's about the most interaction we had with them throughout the hour we were there. We paid our bill, feeling quite let down and annoyed. India Chef is definitely one to avoid.

We do love our ethnic food. I have been craving chicken tikka for hmm about 4 years now? Finally, got to have some come out on a sizzling grill and it was pretty tasty, but was just a little too salty. I dont even think salt is needed in Indian food with such rich fragrant spices. The green sauce (as the waiter says there is no real name for) is really good with just about everything, like the cheese naan. good stuff.

It's edible but I probably won't go back. I had the lunch buffet this afternoon and it just didn't taste very fresh. Tje vegetables were bland. The nann was a little on the stale side and they bring that to your table. The curries were too salty and not very fragrant and the chicken was kind of dry. however, I didn't order from the kitchen and it was my first time there so I'm not claiming to be completely familiar with this place. Other yelpers seem to like it but, I wasn't impressed. Maybe just avoid the buffet.

I have only been to this restaurant once and my first time wasnt a very good experience. I ordered the Tandoori Mixed Grill. It comes with Chicken Tikka, Chicken Tandoori, Shrimp Tandoori, Lamb Tikka, and Sheesh Kebab. The lamb tikka was very dry and had a "burnt" taste to it. Other than that, dish was average to me. It wasnt a terrible experience, but I would definitely try other Indian restaurants before I went back there to try something else. Luckily I was able to get 50% off of my meal by using Scoutmob so I didnt feel so bad.

Great place for Indian food! I don't eat indian often, but the food is really good, and the staff is really cool. They are playful with my daughter, and always friendly and fun with us. I love the spicy indian foods, almost to the point of tearing up. Price is fair, it is not the nicest place you have ever been, but it is clean and a good meal. It does have a small parking lot, but it is usually not a problem.

I do not recommend India chef at all. To begin, the food is mediocre at best, and microwave quality at worst. The dishes are not authentic to true Indian food, and the price is not flexible enough for your wallets. If you want really good Indian food, it is not here.

Tonight, it was more like Indian Disaster! Went to dinner many times in the past and the food was great. ........ until tonight! I always order Chicken Tiki Masala which is served with basmati rice and my hubby always gets Lamb Briyani with a starting appetizer of Veggie Samosas. The samosas are excellent and homemade. Naan bread is also made in house which is excellent for dipping in the masala sauce. Tonight was extra busy and affected the service and quality of food. They had a full house and I believe the culprit was a groupon they were offering. The staff acted like they were overwhelmed (in the weeds in restaurant terminology) and didn't come around to follow up on us at all. They even had a server that didn't speak or understand any English. I believe this because when I complained to him that the food was not right, he just nodded, smiled and walked away :( What I was trying to point out was the rice in both our dishes was atrocious! My plain basmati was a mixture of old broken pieces of rice and what looked like a bit of fresh rice mixed in.....and the rice in my husband's Briyani was the same way and the lambin his dish was half cold. I can't imagine serving someone rice that even looks like that! Unfortunately, we will never go back to give them a chance to redeem themselves because the lack of consideration from the servers..... the next table complained about the rice too and the server just smiled and politely dismissed them. Sadly, I will miss the masala! I give it two stars because the masala sauce is excellent!

We went there for lunch, and I had the lamb vindaloo. All the lunch items started with a vegetable soup, which I believe was mostly lentil. Unfortunately the lentil was ground, so it was somewhat grainy. It tasted ok but by the end of the bowl I was just happy the soup was done instead of wanting more. The lamb vindaloo was tasty but not very spicy. The waiter had asked if I wanted mild or spicy and I said "very spicy" which apparently translated to "not spicy at all". I wanted some heat! The flavor was good, and the lamb was tender, so it certainly wasn't a loss. The meal came with Jasmine rice and a vegetable plate. The rice was good, although the vegetables were ok only in small doses - it was mostly cabbage and peas that had been pickled. Kinda like Indian Kimchee I suppose. For dessert we had keer, which is like rice pudding. This was very good, quite sweet but not overpowering. The service was quick and they were good about keeping out drinks refilled. The value for the food was good also: this place just lacked a 'wow' for me. I wouldn't mind coming back but I doubt I'll be a regular.

Meh Food...Did not accept Scoutmob Went for lunch due to Scoutmob. Server did not accept Scoutmob for lunch buffet after we have eaten, even though there is no limitations noted on the coupon. I am not quite sure what they are trying to accomplish refusing the coupon - you will definitely not get people back into restaurant doing that. The food experience was even worse. Stale, tasteless, limited selection buffet. Could not taste any spices used. Possibly worst Indian food I ever had - tastes like it was prepared the day before and just kept on buffet indefinitely. Felt sick all afternoon after eating there.

  • Melissa K.

Don't try to use the scoutmob for the buffet. I can't even tell you if the food was good or not, the server was such an a-hole that we decided to leave. There is no mention of the buffet being off limits for the Scoutmob deal, but anyway we were going to order off the menu and try it out but he treated us like we were dirt just because we wanted to use the Scoutmob 50% off, and when we decided to leave he just said "whatever." Dont put up a Scoutmob deal if youre going to hate on the NEW customers that might just come back again and again and again and pay full price if they like it. Shame on the restaurant for such crappy service to new customers. I work right by this place and would have obviously been a regular even if the food was just ok, but this experience left a very bad taste in my mouth. I will not be back.

Even though the parking lot looked pretty empty, many of the tables were full in the area surrounding the bar, making it look like they had a decent lunch crowd. They have an express lunch menu with items ranging from $6.99-$8.99 with all the Indian favorites that I've heard of. I got the first item under the Thali heading - Chicken Tikka or Tandoor (I chose Tikka), with lamb curry and vegetable curry. All lunches come with soup, rice, naan, and dessert. My dining companion got the chicken tikka masala. The soup arrived pretty quickly and poorly served its sole purpose of killing time before the other food was plated. It was quite bland and clearly had been on the heat for a while since the vegetables practically disintegrated into mush the second you put them in your mouth. My entree was slightly better. We'd asked the server to make them hot in spice, but I honestly didn't get any spice until I was about 3/4 of the way through my vegetable curry. The chicken tikka (not to be confused with chicken tikka massala, which comes with sauce; this is just the chicken that's been marinated in the same spices and cooked) was flavorful and moist. The lamb curry wasn't bad, but wasn't memorable. The vegetable curry was my favorite part, but that's not saying much. The rice was fluffy. The naan was doughy and pretty thick. The dessert was chunks of fresh cut (a few days earlier) pineapple. When I went to use the scoutmob discount, now integrated with foursquare, I was told that it didn't apply to the express lunch items, only items ordered off the standard dinner menu. There was a handwritten sign on the door, but I'd missed it. Oh well, it was only $8.99, and now I know. This place was average at best. I probably won't return with so many good buffets just few miles north. #Yelp365 - 337/365

I went in at 2:15 since I can't go to lunch until 2 - a bit late considering they close for lunch at 2:30 but they took me in anyway! Another customer got in shortly after as well. I ordered their lunch chicken tikka masala (hot). It came with soup (will probably pass on this next time), cabbage side dish, naan, and dessert! Everything was SO good. Only thing I would change is to have the hot option to be even hotter. I could probably just request that next time so no big deal. :) Would love to come here more often during lunch break but I feel bad getting there so late.

I can only comment on lunch as we've been several times. The scoutmob deal got us in but we were disappointed to know it was only applicable on dinner entrees. It felt like a bait and switch :-( We opted for their $6.99 special. The best dish in this price range is the curry. Their dishes come with a broth like soup w/ herbs, naan, rice and rice pudding. The curry came with 4 med sized chuncks of chicken. Fair sized portions and the curry is yummy. If you fill up on the sides you won't miss a thing. I haven't tried the Tikka Masala as that's an extra $2. The other dishes aren't anything to write home about. A good go-to stand by. But if you're up for more variety, flavor and portions try Bombay Flames buffet on Mansell. It's $2 more but a treat, just bring your appetite.

The food here is OK, if you like it mild, this is the place for you. We had the dinner for two, which came with a nice variety of choices; appetizer, dessert, naan, rice, chicken tandoori, Beef Bhanu (or lamb), and choice of veg entree, we tried the saag paneer. The food was not what I'm used to when eating Indian food, it was somewhat blander than most I've tried. For dessert we tried the gulab jamun and kheer (rice pudding). Both tasted like they had been pulled from the fridge seconds before serving. I like it when the gulab jamun and rice pudding are served warm. Usually, I'll eat the left overs right away and wont last long in my fridge, sad to say I wasn't excited about finishing these left overs....I need more spice please!

Excellent food, good service, good classical Indian music (contemplative flute) well priced. As usual, if you really care about food, avoid the buffet and order off the ala carte menu. Fish Tikka HIGHLY recommended.

I visited this restaurant on Mother's day for lunch with my wife. It was our first visit and we won't be back. Please don't give this place any of your money! Since it was Mothers Day they only had the buffet available. We arrived at approximately 12:30 and there was one table of people that were finishing up and a man with his young son sitting at the bar. I will say that we have driven past this place more than a few times and despite loving Indian cuisine weren't impressed with the book's cover. We decided to stay even though we don't usually eat buffets. The food must have been made way in advance. 1) The food on the buffet was all between Luke warm and cold. They make the naan fresh to order so it came to the table hot. 2) The quality of the food is very low. The jasmine rice was very low grade (mostly broken pieces) and didn't have the aromatic flavoring that we've grown accustomed to at Indian restaurants. I mean really ...Do you need to save money on a cheap item like rice? It's filler and will prevent your customer from eating more of your expensive items. So make it good! 3) I love Tandoori chicken! I had two pieces on my place that basically amounted to one chicken breast cut in half. The breast still had the drum part of the wing attached to it. TO MY DISMAY THE CHICKEN WAS RAW! I alerted the tall balding man at the bar and he quickly left our table. He didn't bother to take the RAW CHICKEN with him. HE DID NOT APOLOGIZE AT ALL! IT WAS VERY OBVIOUS THAT THEY REALLY DON'T CARE! It wasn't long after that he brought us the check ...still no apology and took my credit card to pay the check. I will point out that I couldn't continue eating after the raw chicken incident and ate so little that it was actually shocking that he expected me to pay for my RAW CHICKEN! During the last ten minutes that we waited a couple of ladies and their children came in and sat at the table next to us. The tall man served them their water and naan. When he came back to the table he discovered that the customers weren't staying because they couldn't order off the menu. They then left the restaurant. MY WIFE WATCHED AS HE THE TALL MAN PICKED UP THE BASKET OF NAAN OFF THE TABLE WHERE THE PEOPLE HAD LEFT AND SERVED IT TO ANOTHER TABLE. IM CERTAIN THAT THIS IS A CLEAR HEALTH DEPARTMENT VIOLATION, NOT TO MENTION TOTALLY UNACCEPTABLE! Since he wasn't standing at the table the whole time there was no way of knowing if the kids had put their hands in it, sneezed on it, picked their nose and touched the bread, or anything else that children do. I will point out that I spent the evening at home sick....Not to go into details but it was just not pleasant. All I can say about this place is that they really do not care about quality of what is being served or safety and health of their customers. If you want to roll the dice after reading this review good luck to you! See Kelly's review about cold food, broken rice and employees (and owners) who simply dont care! " My plain basmati was a mixture of old broken pieces of rice and what looked like a bit of fresh rice mixed in.....and the rice in my husband's Briyani was the same way and the lambin his dish was half cold. I can't imagine serving someone rice that even looks like that! Unfortunately, we will never go back to give them a chance to redeem themselves because the lack of consideration from the servers..... the next table complained about the rice too and the server just smiled and politely dismissed them. " Sorry I didnt read it sooner!

Namaste people! :) I love indian food... well, food period :) I love this place because the servers are very nice... they need a little time to warm up to you..... once they do, they remember you and try to accommodate your requests with pleasure... they are genuine and not fake! I appreciate when customer service is an exchange of two humans and not robotic! The chicken tikaa masala sauce is different then it was about 6 months ago and it is freakin awesome!!! This is the same tikaa I remember from NY. They will modify the spicy level to fit your preferences. Just communicate what you want and they do a very good job. The food is delicious moderately priced and when the owner is there, he likes engaging with people and ensuring you are happy with your meal! This is the only place I go to when I need to calm any indian food cravings lol BELOW IS AN UPDATE 7/6/2013 I will continue going here even though I was disappointed with the buffet! I got there at 2:15pm buffet ends at 2:30pm I was allowed in and it was a mistake.. they didn't want to have me there, I felt unwelcome, rushed- and the worst thing was that the food that I usually love, tasted old, and had a bitter sour taste. I had 2 fresh naan which they did bring out to me and I hurriedly ate the only thing that had a decent taste to it. If you want to try their buffet, I would still not discourage it but definitely get there EARLIER!!! or else it will be a waste of your money and time!

Had lunch here dozens of times. Always consistent great flavor and generous portions. Normally everything is mild but ask for spicy and that's what you get. Hot tea is something special. Chick tikka combo plate a favorite.

I had my first Indian experience here. I'm ashamed to admit that it took 22 years of age before I tried Indian food. Just another great thing about my husband - he taught me to feel the fear and go for it. I've eaten here about 5 or 6 times now, and it has really become comfort food for me. My favorite appetizers are the onion pakoras and chicken 65. We always get the whole wheat parata with raita - man oh man it is so heavenly! I love the chicken tikka masala and chicken biriyani too. I've always had great service here. I suppose I'm not the ultimate expert, but I think India Chef is great.

This is the 3rd time I have been here, and the food is delicious. Tonight I had the beef madras which was very tasty. I had it medium spiced, which for me was plenty hot enough. My wife had the lamb sag which she said was delicious. I would definitely eat here again. The service was good & and very friendly. If you like Indian food go here, you will not be disappointed.

Im very picky on my Indian food, so Ive tried just about all the ones Roswell has to offer. According to their website, this is the oldest Indian restaurant in Roswell. We had the Shrimp Puri, Coconut Curry, and Kashmiri with chicken, Naan, along with their Indian rice pudding for dessert. The atmosphere was the best Ive found in Roswell so far, although the chairs were a bit uncomfy after a while. The service was very good, and the waiters were very prompt and friendly, which is very important to me. The shrimp puri was good/above average, with an interesting twist: They dont put the shrimp mixture inside the puffed bread, instead they bring them out seperate and allow you to mix them yourself. The coconut curry was some of the BEST I've ever had, which for such a basic dish--was quite impressive. The Kashmiri was pretty bland, seemingly lacking some of the spices/flavor I expect with the dish. The Naan was....naan. Skip dessert. The rice pudding was more soup than pudding and almost flavorless. I will probably return, although I wouldnt get the Kashmiri again.

This place is fantastic, the food is delicious and fresh, so much flavor!!!! The chicken vindaloo, chicken 65, and chicken tikka misala are fabulous!! Also i get their vegetable dishes often which are also amazing!!

The restaurant was dark and dreary. Waitstaff was helpful, but devoid of any personality. My chicken tikka masala was good, but nothing special. I won't be returning.

Amazing. Chicken Tikka Masala is absolutely delicious. Kheer is amazing. They have great food, and the guys who work there are all awesome. I drive from Smyrna, to Roswell, just to get food from here... Passing about four Indian restaurants on my way... I'll admit I liked the old location better, but location is as important, as long as they keep using the same recipes! If you like your food spicy, just let them know, cause they can definitely accommodate..

I couldn't figure out how to rate this restaurant with zero stars, so I had to give it the minimum of one. I just returned from their weekend buffet, which is $9.99, not the $7.99 quoted in one of the reviews on their website. I was alone, so took a place at the bar, after asking the waiter where there would be good light in case I wanted to read. Once I was seated, this was the last time that any of the staff spoke to me until someone asked me if I was done. Had anyone asked me if I wanted a drink, they would have sold a lassi in addition to the buffet. No one ever bothered to ask me how the food was, which, in a word was boring. I should have left after tasting what they called a mulligatawny soup. It had virtually no flavor, little to no solid matter, would have been helped a bit by some salt, but there was no shaker in sight, and, no waiter in sight to ask. The rest of the food had little to no heat. The raita tasted odd, almost if it had butter in it and I could detect no actual vegetable matter at all in it. The tamarind chutney, though, tasted right. The one plus I can I give them was that though I arrived shortly before 2 just a half hour before lunch closing, what small selection of items they had was well stocked at that time. However, when I went back at 2:25 to get some more of the tamarind chutney and get some of what was probably corriander chutney, all the chutneys had already been put away. Maybe they serve bland food for their weekend lunch and the dinner fare has more taste. But, the way I was(n't) served, I won't be back.

i love this place. i've tried alot of indian food in asia, and this one is very close to home. especially chicken briyani and chicken 65. we ordered tikka masala too but it was only ok. the chicken briyani is a MUST TRY! I would still give it a 5 if this was in asia.

We have been coming to India Chef for a long time. I have never eaten off the buffet, and maybe that is where people's problems are coming from. The staff is great to us, and we love the Vindaloo and the spicier dishes. And the garlic naan!

  • Tulie L.

I came here for lunch and I thought it was quite exceptional for the price and service. For the lunch special, you get dessert, rice, a salad and some soup. My lamb vidaloo was spicey and yummy, and i had some leftovers as well. It also comes with naan which was nice and fluffy, and not too oily. I think for the location , the place is pretty good, especially for lunch. The staff was nice, and attentive and I believe Sassi K. should give this place another try.

I do not recommend this restaurant at all. We had a variety of dishes: lamb, veggie and chicken and they were not spicy enough...they were very bland. The staff was not friendly and the prices were much higher than what we thought it was worth. We will not go back. :(

So, I came here here in the mood for indian food and it wasn't to far away from an event my brother was attending. I and my mom ususally do red lobster down the road, when my brother has an event not to far away. But wanted to give this place a try. Friendly waiter(s) and the food was good. I ordered my usuall chicken tikka, which comes with rice. I also got soup and a regular plain nan. The soup came in a very good size bowl, probilly enough for two people to share. Everything here tasted good. waiters did come around to fill water cup when need. I did end up taking half of my meal home, and the waiter was nice enough to give me some extra rice for my leftovers. I was able to almost finish the rice that came with my meal, so you will need two things of rice cause its enough for one not really two. I'll have to come back here again with my family to see if they will enjoy it here too. It's slightly more then I would have paid but I guess not bad since I got another whole meal out of it. While dining there were 2 or 3 other families and 1 other couple dining as well, plus a few people came in to pick up togo orders so it was a little bit busy for a friday night. Come try this place if you enjoy indian food, and live nearby..

No atmosphere but we tried to go so not a big deal. Nann was bland. We had the shish kabob (ground meat) and chicken Tikka Mesela. Beef was OK (good spice) but a bit bland. We can make better chicken at home with the Canned sauce. Major disappointment!

Food is typical Indian food. Good but nothing that special. I always feel like Indian restaurants are over priced. The service was excellent until we were waiting to receive our checks in which they were extremely slow, unorganized, and awkward. My group got there at 8 pm and left around 9:30 and the whole time we were the only ones in the restaurant which is always a little uncomfortable. Not sure why they are open until 10 pm bc they had 1 table at that hour. So overall decent food but not worth trying

This Indian-American restaurant was sub-par. We went for the lunch buffet. Server was a bit gruff. Soup was watered down and bland, while the curries had no flavor. Some of the foods on the buffet table were not hot at all, making for an unsafe food environment. They needed to take these back to the kitchen and reheat them more often. The naan was alright, but the other foods were not nearly satisfactory.

    (2)
  • Carmel M.

Our take away order was disgusting!. What I got was a bland, VERY watery/oily curry. It was more like a curry soup with chunks of chicken thrown in. The naan bread and rice was dry and there was just no flavor to anything!. We ordered 2 different meals and they were both pretty awful.

We do love our ethnic food. I have been craving chicken tikka for hmm about 4 years now? Finally, got to have some come out on a sizzling grill and it was pretty tasty, but was just a little too salty. I dont even think salt is needed in Indian food with such rich fragrant spices. The green sauce (as the waiter says there is no real name for) is really good with just about everything, like the cheese naan. good stuff.

I've had many different things there and they've all been great. I've gone with Indians and non Indians and both have loved it. Friendly helpful staff.

One of the best Indian restaurants in the city. Very nice wait staff. Love the Chicken Tikka Masala and their Naan is delish.
