Good service but too much of my food has been overcooked or poorly seasoned, but seems to be the standard on Mexican in this area. Like a lot of Mexican food dives in Rome if you love the generic Enchilada, Taco, Burrito, Quesadilla, Nachos, and sauce, that compares to your average mexican restaurant then I have no doubt you'll like it. I'd give it a higher score but the prices are too high compared to comparable competition. Nostalgia and familiarity seems to set it apart for a lot of my friends.

Decent food and service nothing spectacular. I love mexican food so yes it was good. But prices and specials could have been alittle better. Beer was cheap tho :)

Did I tell you how much I hate Mexican food? People who read my reviews regularly will know that I am married to a woman who would eat it every meal, and my response is that I would sooner go to the dumpster out back and scrape off the sides and put it on a plate and eat it rather than eat what passes for Mexican food in most restaurants. However, one day I swallowed my pride and went with her to Las Palmas, and we ordered the made at the table guacamole (which I had heretofore avoided like the plague!), and fell in love with guac! Now we rarely go here without starting our meal with a generous bowl of the freshest guac in town! I also discovered that I can order delicious nachos and cheese (but I wish they had the milder picked jalapenos instead of the fresh fiery ones,) and I love the loco shrimp (which is not on the menu.) So except for the tacky outside decor (florescent palm trees!), the decor inside is nice and the place is clean. They also have some of the friendliest servers I have ever seen, and the tableside guac preparers are the best! Okay, there is some Mexican food I can tolerate for the sake of my marriage! ;-) But good Mexican food--NOT Mexican fast food! Makes me puke just to think of it. (Bet this is one of the only reviews you have ever read that had the words "guac" and "puke" in the same review!)

Be cautious when ordering items that have cheese. This restaurant likes to skimp out with cheese so you have to buy the side orders of it. Disappointing, but if you're stuck in Rome this is probably one of the only 'good' restaurants here. If you really want good Mexican food, go somewhere else.

Consistently good food and service. Las palmas is my default restaurant when I don't know what I want!

I usually go at the off peak times right work or in between lunch and dinner on the weekends so they aren't busy during those times. The food is good and I have had nothing but great service. Sometimes a few from work will go just for drinks and always have a good time.

Excellent carne asada. Lots of kid's options! Great for travelers looking to avoid chain restaurants.

My family and I ate there for lunch today. It was pretty good! The salsa was yummy and we enjoyed LOTS of it. The service was friendly and fast. We were waited on very well. I had lunch #8, all chicken and it was tasty. The only downside was that my oldest child ordered lunch combo 11, some kind of nachos with chicken, cheese, and a funny tasting sauce. The chips were soggy on his nachos, so we added an ala carte taco for him. There was a pretty good sized lunch crowd here while the parking lot at LA Parrilla was nearly empty.

Fantastic! I recently got out of the hospital from my cancer treatment so I have to be extremely cautious about germs. At first I was worried about eating here, but then I saw how clean everything was. It wasn't crowded at all and the seating was very nice. Getting the food was quick and our waitress was amazing. The food was also delicious, I think I got the "Loca Rice with chicken" and it was amazing.

We think/hope that they open at 11 on Sunday. The hours do not seem o be posted on the doors. $1.49 for cheese because THEY didn't put enough on my taco! Grrrrrrr...

This area certainly isn't lacking for Mexican restaurants, and if my review were based solely on the food itself, I'd give it a three or four. Everything is solid (the quesadillas are quite good, the veggies are fresh, and the tableside guacamole is a real pleasure!) but not spectacular. What truly makes this place stand out is the service. I went with a couple of friends after class the other day, and the waitstaff could not have been more accommodating about setting us up on the patio so my dog could chill out with her own bowl of water and plate. We had two different servers, both of whom kept the water coming to humans and canines alike, and both of whom went out of their way to make sure we were having a great time. We'll definitely be making this a regular stop!

Awful. Awful. Awful. Friends visiting from out of town and they picked the place. SLOW service! Freaking re fill a tea glass once in awhile. Same terrible food. Yuck. Had to ask for clean silverware. I don't know what else I can say about this place except, "Save yourselves!" Try Los Portales.

I'm not a huge fan of Las Palmas. The best thing I've encountered is the fresh guacamole dip. One of the cooks rolls the ingredients out on a cart and prepares the whole delicious mix right in front of the table. That way, you can control the amount of ingredients in the dip. (For instance, some people hate cilantro, so you can request that it simply be left out.) As for the other fare, I haven't been overly impressed. I got a quesadilla there with shrimp, chicken, steak, and various vegetables. I expected a lot of flavor and was surprised by how bland it was. Then, the next time I went, I ordered a shrimp quesadilla. It, too, was largely flavorless...at least it didn't taste bad, I guess. Thank goodness, because I wouldn't have had anything to wash it down with since my water glass was empty for the last half of my meal! (The service on my first visit was much better.)

My family loves this place. Everything is good...food, service, atmosphere, very clean. The fresh made guacamole is out of this world. Request it (they make it right at your table). You will not be sorry.

Recognize that you're in a Mexican restaurant and manage your expectations and you'll have a good experience. The guacamole prepared tableside had really fresh ingredients and was tasty. Carne asada was decent but far from the best I've ever had. However, as with the guacamole everything on my plate was very fresh especially the sliced avocado. The service was generally ok but got a little slow. Would eat here again.

Note: The name of Laredo's has changed to Las Palmas I have never been to a restaurant chain that has better chips & salsa than Las Palmas. I have eaten here a few times, and the food is just as good as other Las Palmas. Interesting Fact: This restaurant appears to have tasks better divided up between its employees, with one person constantly going up and down the aisle checking chips and salsa, another (usually the waiter) check on drinks, and then a Manager taking on all tasks making sure we are okay (which is awesome!). I personally though, still prefer the Las Palmas on Shorter Ave. over this one, because I like being given a separate salsa bowl instead of one big salsa bowl (meaning having to share with others at the table) because of "double-dipping" and I like my salsa with salt, while my girlfriend doesn't. If this Las Palmas gave everyone a salsa bowl (without constantly having to request it) it would of been better. My only other suggestion for improvement, would be that it would be cool if they included cilantro in their salsa like the chain in Cartersville, GA does.

The best Mexican food in Rome. I especially love the fajitas and large burritos along with the fresh chips and salsa. Employees are very attentive, checking on you regularly.

This our "Friday Night" hang out... Salsa is perfect, and the chips are fresh... The fajitas are enough for two to share... and the Petron margarita is near perfection... We like to sit in the bar area, and the service is usually very good, but not always... I also would rate the Carne Asada Tacos as among the best I have ever had... I am a big fan of fish tacos, but they just don't quite make the cut here...

Mexican Cuisine

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.
