I was in mood for some mughlai/pakistani food. While passing by this place I thought oh well I would yelp it and then give it a try. And I was satisfied to the core! Fast service, yummy food and easy on the pocket. Its at one end of the strip mall with plenty of parking space. We ordered Kabab, one goat curry and haleem and biiyani. Haleem and kabab were really good. The consistency of naan was perfect. Nice and soft just perfect to go with gravy and the kabab. Biriyani was plentiful and tasty. I took out a minus point coz of use of too much oil/fat in cooking the food. While you eat it you feel all good about it but if you arent used to such heavy foos there are quiet a bit of chances of having heart burn later that day....Dont over indulge in the goodiness. Its meat+butter+fat+masalas. perfect receipe for heatyburns. But nevertheless, if you want to enjoy some good food do go here.

Awesome lamb biryani and kebabs. It had a good buffet as well. The ambience and neighborhood was average but if you are looking for a good food, I'd recommend this place.

This restaurant is very good. I came here for the buffet and it was really good. I had the veggie biryani and the nihari. The environment was very good and the place was very clean and neat. I recommend this place for you and your family or friends. I also liked the constant flow of the buffet. Probably a minute or so after something ran out, they had it replaced with a new, fresh batch. I highly recommend this place. Enjoy!

Beef kabob roll. Try it. It's food perfection. A juicy beef kabob wrapped in a buttery crispy flaky Naan.. Served with chutney sauce and onions. And their Chai is great too.

My wife started traveling for work after we moved to Atlanta. So for the last 6 months on our way back home from the airport, we have been making our pilgrimage to The Mughals almost on a bimonthly frequency (usually thursday nights). After 20+ meals of feasting at Mughals we have shortlisted three items here that exceed other Indo-Pak joints in the area in terms of taste, consistency and value for money = Beef seekh kebab, Chicken booti and the naan. Do ask for raita if you don't get one. Three simple steps to yield guaranteed satisfaction: Step 1. Tear a piece of the crusty, hot naan and eat one bite just by itself Step 2. Tear another piece of the naan, break a chunck of grilled goodness, dunk it in the brown tamarind chutney and / or the raita and enjoy! Step 3. Repeat step 2 until completely satiated or plates are empty (whichever comes first :)) All joking aside, I sincerely hope that this simple meal will have the same effect on you as it does on us every time we dine here. Enjoy!

BEST BUTTER CHICKEN I'VE EVER HAD! I haven't found a place ANYWHERE that makes the butter chicken like they do here. I'm still on the hunt for one that tastes just like this restaurant. Butter chicken and some naan bread and I'm a happy camper. This place will be a must stop for me next time I'm back in ATL Have to thank my cousin for taking me here. Definitely didn't disappoint :)

Great place for some authentic Mughlai/Pakistani food! I like their Kababs and fried fish. While the rest of the food is tasty but a bit oily for my taste. Will keep going to get my Kabab Fix!

Vibe is pretty nice for a restaurant of this kind, saw a beetle crawling on the floor (not a roach) but the health score was a 91. First woman who took my order was a bit short and standoffish, the woman who later appeared was quite friendly, which was important given my 20+ minute wait for my bihari kabob. Finally it came, along with a single piece of glistening garlic naan, which really was the star of the meal...easily one of the best I've had and possibly the best. The bihari kabob was nothing I've had before, and after some googling I was expecting some spicy chunks of beef, with a steak kabob like consistency. What I got was something quite different, while flavorful, the meat was not at all spicy really, and had an almost crumbly texture, while not being dry that I couldn't quite put my finger on. The flavors were there, I liked the charred bits a bit more, but the texture was not my cup of tea. If this is a regional specialty of preparation, and you like it that way it might be exactly what you're looking for. The kabob was served with raw onions, lime juice, and a slightly spicy brown sauce. Since I was there during their buffet I asked to try a piece of cold chicken 65 (this is why I generally avoid buffets, specifically for fried dishes) the flavor was good however, but more cumin seed than anything. I'm giving this place four stars still based off of the naan, and what I think some of the other dishes have in store, quality levels are high and care is taken to prepare the food. Check it out, I'll be back.

I'm not sure why other Indo Pakistani restaurants exist when Mughals is right there. Their buffets are the talk of the town, full of your brunch or lunch favorites. Eveything is great here-- nihari, kabobs and kabob rolls, brain masala, karhai chicken, etc. They do well with big orders and pick up. Since they moved back to their original location, it can get crowded at peak timings, so if you have a big group, try calling ahead or just picking up. Their private hall is a great place to host an event, and their set up is unique and very classy looking-- bronze chafing dishes instead of the usual industrial steel ones.

  • Verity Y.

The buffet is really good! The buffet is 7.99 Monday through Thursday. Today is Friday and it is 8.99 and they have lots of vegetarian options and goat, butter chicken, tandoori chicken, and beef. The butter chicken and the okra thing was AWESOME. Lots of flavor. Can't believe we never tried it before. Also, the sweet dessert at the end is something like caramel, sweetened condensed milk, and tapioca. It's really delicious.

Me and my boyfriend went there to eat lunch we purposely didn't get the buffet we wanted fresh food. We ordered nehari, chicken handi, rice and naan everything except the chicken handi was old the meat in the nehari was old you could smell and taste the oldness we couldn't even try to eat the rice was reheated so many times it was hard and the naan crumbled like a cracker we ate what we could. But now we wish we hadn't our stomachs hurt. This was a horrible experience. I wont be going back. I recommend sabri if yall want good and fresh food.

This is a true Pakistani place and food is great. I've been coming to this place for almost 9 years now and have always had good food. Their lunch buffet is the best value for your buck! Best Naans in town, guaranteed! Nihari, Chana masala, Biryani, Chicken Tikka, Kebabs, Qorma, Karahi gosht and Achari chicken are simply amazing. Highly recommended!

I love Mughals! I've been coming to Mughals with my family since I was Nine and now I'm 23. You do the math. If it was bad, I would have stopped coming a long time ago. Like LONGG TIME AGO. I am Pakistani myself so when I say there Nihari is yum. It is YUM! we usually come here for the Nihari and Bun Kabobs. We also get Haleem. and we have gotten Behari kabobs in the past. But nothing beats there Nihari. For the amount of times I said Nihari on this review, I should be given 100 bucks. GOOOOO FOR THE NIHARI UHH-MAZING! ps: there mango lassi.....so good...the end

I love Mughals have been coming for more than 15 years but the quality has been a bit variable lately, especially the kadhai gosht, their signature item. May be the chef has changed.

  • P S C.

We had the handi chicken, the chicken kabob, and the goat biriyani, with naan and mango lassi at dinner. All the items were super good, specially the handi chicken. Their food quality is impressive considering the affordable price point. The wait staff was very helpful in explaining the details of the food, so that made it much easier for us to choose the food we would like to have. Overall very impressive experience on our first visit. This place is very highly recommended.

I love their mughalai fried rice! The serving size is huMONGous! Hubby loves their nihari. Try their dessert menu. Anything. Kheer is AMAZING, just pure deliciousness and so is their ras malai. If I wasn't watching my sugar intake, I'll be all over the dessert menu everyday. But alas, this sugar addict has to stay away from that part of the menu.. until they get the jitters. Ok.. I'm getting the jitters. This wizard of words is leaving to devour the kheer and rasmalai.

I've been here a handful of times, and it's probably my favorite pakistani restaurant in the greater Atlanta area. They'e a take out style restaurant in a shopping center with a lot of seating inside. They've recently renovated and the place is a lot nicer and cleaner than it was before. First, the nihari is the best dish on the menu, the beef is very tender and the spice is perfect, and coupled with a naan its delicious. They have great seekh kababs and their chicken 65 is above average (I'd prefer Zyka's Chicken 65). I've never had their biryani but heard it was pretty good. We had their mughali fried rice which wasn't very good, so I'd stay away from that. Overall, the prices are good the food is great and the service is pretty solid.

Been eating here for over 15 years. Consistent quality and Never been disappointed with the food or service. Appreciate the upgrade to sturdy plastic plates instead of styrofoam. God willing there will be glass plates in another 15 years. DONT go here if you want ambiance, though, and NEVER go to a Pakistani restaurant if you want vegetables...GO FOR THE MEAT! Kebab rolls are a family fave that keep us coming back, because they don't cram it with unnecessary junk like tomatoes n onions like other places, and they're moist and juicy because they come in perfect, never greasy or stale, parathas, not naan. Bihari kebab are the best in town.

Great place to eat - the chicken roll and mughlai fried rice is a huge hit for us...very friendly owners who always have a smile on their face and some encouraging words for you...this is a hidden jewel in Atlanta! Take your friends and family - you will not be disappointed...

Ordered the chicken 65. It was good and the location was also very good so I can't complain. I paid 2$ extra for extra chicken and I could not tell whether it was extra or not. Chicken was diced up, not whole. Only complaint.

Unbelievable bang for your buck. Delicious pakistanti/indian food for very low prices. I really liked the kabobs, chicken makhni, and naan. I have heard the biryani is very good as well. We happened upon this restaurant and are so glad we did. You go up to the counter, order what you like, and pay after eating. Food is delicious. I will be back to try more!

How have I lived in Atlanta so long without knowing about this place? Thanks to a friend and her husband, I finally got to try this place. I've always loved Indian food for its potential but not because I really like a particular place in Atlanta. My experience has been full of greasy and creamy nonsense, and I always felt terrible after I was done with my meal. This place is great. When I stepped in and had no idea what people were saying (because they were speaking in Indian dialects), I knew this place was promising. You order at the counter and pick up your own pitcher of water, plates, and utensils. And then you pick any seat in the house. Here's what we had that day: Dal: I put list this first because even though it's not the most sexy of foods, dal in general is my favorite among Indian food. We actually ordered this after we were done eating, but I ended up eating almost the entire bowl. The lentils were really smooth and seasoned just right. Chicken tikka masala: Not greasy, guys! It was small pieces of chicken breast in a slightly spicy and savory sauce. Meats platter: Meat done in different ways. Must get this. It comes out sizzling and there's a nice kick in some of the meats. Tandoori chicken: Seasoned well and the meat was tender. I personally liked the way the onions picked up the flavor of everything as well. Chicken Biriyani: Again, well seasoned and the chicken was so tender! They use white and dark meat in this, and both were equally delicious. I sorta rolled out the door and fell into a heavy food coma, so I don't remember the rest of this day very well. Thanks Mughals for an excellent experience!

This is the awesome Pakistani restaurant. I'm surprise so many people calling an Indian food. Pakistani is similar to Indian food but it is heavily influenced by afghan and Persian food. Indian restaurants spice and recipes are different. I really like the kabobs and food is served very fast. Good ol place

I have been here about 10 times give or take. Most of the time the food is outstanding. One time the food was just okay, and one time there some issues. But mostly it is outstanding. I usually can't stop eating. I love all of the chicken dishes and the naan is pretty good. It should be noted that there really isn't any waitstaff. You place your order at the counter and the food is brought out to you. Also, the food is very reasonably priced. Pakistani and Indian food is generally $10+ an entree, but many entrees at Mughals are below $10. The mixed grill is a little more expensive but it is very good. I like the chaat a lot too. The owner seems like a nice guy. He's friendly and usually comes to our table to ask how things are. He is also helpful for explaining any of the dishes. One time I accidentally ate an entire hot pepper and my mouth was on fire. He ran to the kitchen and brought me tamarind sauce and yogurt to ease the pain and didn't even charge me for it. Just to be clear, this is a Pakistani restaurant. It is similar to Indian food but different. For example there are many red meat dishes and fewer vegetarian dishes that you might expect at an Indian restaurant. I am an American and my wife is from India. She says there are a number of differences between Indian and Pakistani food. Honestly though, I can barely taste the difference. It's all great to me. Other minor things: canned soda only, no alcohol, plastic silverware and plates, Hispanic employees can be a little difficult to communicate with. Overall though, it's great food at a great price. Mughals also offers takeout.

Great food, loved what they have to offer on the menu. Would be 5 stars but didn't really get much of a welcome when walking into the restaurant , making me feel like I was going to a fast food joint. But other than that god was great and came out fast.

This place is awesome , the food heavenly and so cost effective that u wonder is it even possible. I come here for the goat biriyani ..yum but I always come here with friends and we order a lot of items and everything is awesome. There is something called chicken 65 ( fried chicken ) and it is the best I have had. Overall amazing experience.. The only problem is u can't move much after all the great food ..

I went there Sunday for brunch (buffet). The place was packed. Atmosphere is nice, bright, and clean. But the food is a disappointment. There is not a lot to choose from and taste is okay. Items they have are haleem, nihari beef, goat, naan, and couple more. I don't see anything special about their food. Overrated for sure. Not coming back. I am giving this place "2" because it's clean and bright. If it was typical Indian atmosphere (dim, old furniture, not very clean) then it would be "1".

Definitely some of the best Indian/Pakistani food in Atlanta. It's not somwhere you go for for ambiance though..It's a casual, take out sort of restaurant, but they do have seating in a clean area if you want to eat there. The butter chicken is my staple; it's creamy, sweet and spicy and the flavors come really well together. It's creamier and richer than other butter chicken's I've had. I also really like their super tender and flavorful bihari boti kabob and juicy chicken seekh kabob. The owner is very friendly. I like how this place is less chaotic and more organized than zykas. Check it out for some indo pak food that you will definitely love!

  • Kevin Z.

Food is great with a few exceptions . The signature dish is apparently so good they don't want you to have much of no matter how much they charge for it . The Kariah( spelling wrong ) gosht is good but they will literally put one or two cubes with large bones and sauce and call that a serving . Also the chicken was a bit dry . Take out orders obviously not given the care that customers deserve . Food remains pretty tasty but they need to be a little more customer focused . Hopefully they will read this since I had grown tired to making these points to the owners .

It is quite wonderful having a carniverous Indian beau. I can rest assured that whenever he ventures out for some food, I never have to worry. He knows spice, heat, and quality meats. He brought food home from Mughals. The meat quality was high and set it apart from a lot of run of the mill Indian joints. I also went there for dinner. Don't get turned off by the run down strip mall. The Chicken Boti and Kadhai chicken are simply incredible. The Biryani is extremely fragrant and delicious. Overall, the food was wonderful and they don't curb the spice level. The owner is also a sweetheart and the staff are very friendly.

Prolly my 2nd favorite Pakstani place in the A. Their butter chicken is very good and they might have the best naan in the city. Definitely not fancy but they do what a restaurant should do first and foremost, serve good food. It's pretty cheap too. Man, I miss this place!

I really like their food and the new location is cleaner (well relatively :) than the old one. Used to be a Sabri fan, but lately their food has been bland for my taste. Tried Mughals after a long time the other day and I'm switching to this place now.

I just wanted to say that one evening I had the pleasure to some into Mughals with my Indian friends and at first I was overwhelmed with the choices but I always have faith in their choices. Needless to say, the concept is simple, has plenty of seating, and the staff is very friendly. They also have some of the best naan in town! The only bad part was I wish they were open today! Soon enough I will come back :)

The beef wrap is to die for. A good friend of mine intro'd me to this place. Meat-lovers, have at it. It's really a no frills kind of place where the food speaks for itself. I tried the buffet once, but really my favorite is the wrap.

We ate here for Eid lunch, and it was absolutely delicious! It is a classic hole-in-the-wall place with delicious food. Unfortunately we missed the buffet which also includes halwa poori so we had to order a la carte. We had the nihari, fresh naan, chicken biryani, chicken 55, and tandoori platter! Everything was amazing and perfectly seasoned. At the end we each had 2-3 cups of their amazing chai, although it did take forever for them to make it. It's not a fancy place, and not such great service, but excellent food is what it's all about here.

This spot is BONKERS! So this place is nuts, you walk in and there's a busy ass Indian/Pak guy packing like 50 to-go orders, while on the phone taking someone's order, and bitching at you for not knowing how to get yo own damn plates. It's self serve, so get yo own damn stuff. Naan? I go at this NAAN STAWP NAW MEAN? Garlic, No garlic, both good. LOAD UP! Chicken Tikka?! Tikka, Tikka Yeah!! Okra - This aint yo Momma's okra... well unless your mom cooks indo/pak food. Some type of soup with bones - IDK, it was tasty, I forgot what it's called. Overall, I enjoyed the food. All of the flavors were there; however, ALL of the dishes were missing SALT. I am not sure if that is what they meant to do or that is how it is supposed to taste, but I was screaming for some salt. Gonna come back for some brain one of these days.

Went for the lunch buffet and left disappointed. It's a bare bones kindof place - plastic silverware, paper napkins, cooler of help-yourself soft drinks, cricket on a big-screen TV - which made it seem promising in my book. But the buffet options just weren't very good. We had butter chicken (super bland and oily), mixed veg curry (seemed to be made from not fully defrosted canned veggie mix, watery yellow dal (fine), naan (onion naan--pretty good!) and pakora (more chickpea batter than filling). Maybe it's a place to go for takeover of individual dishes, which is cool--every place has its strengths/weaknesses. But would not recommend the buffet.

If you're looking for the real deal authentic delicious Pakistani food, this is as close as I've seen it in the Atl. Even the slightly disorganized chaos feels like you're there. I think their haleem is the best I've ever had, nihari, aor cheezin shireen khoshmaze hain (their nihari & sweets are delicious!). Atmosphere pales in Western standards but is just right Desi style.

  • Shazia T.

Good desi food. But it is greasy, so beware. Here is what I have had: - nihari: really good, especially with naan - vegetable biryani: not so good and very spicy - achaar chicken: really good... wish there was more salan (gravy) - naan: good - beef kabob roll: good, but hella greasy - chicken kabob roll: yummy in the tummy... also greasy - mango lassi: best in Norcross in my opinion.... closest thing to Zyka's lassi (which I consider as the gold standard)

New spot + fresh chutney + warm naan = still my favorite indi/pak spot. Their old spot burned down so this place is right across the street off singleton. The food is still great and the people are nice. Once the old spot is renovated they said they would start to add more items to the menu, specifically chinese/indian food. That stuff is baller... can't wait!

  • A + P.

My buddy from work had read a good review of this Indian/Pakistani/[something else--Bengali?] place in Norcross, along with nearby Lazeez. Lazeez was our first choice, but they were closed for remodeling, so we ended up here. We didn't have much of an idea of what to order, so we asked the hostess for any recommendations. Not too helpful, she pointed to several items in the lunch buffet and said they were good. We probably would've done better to order from the standard menu, but we didn't know what was what. The buffet was pretty limited, and more expensive on Fridays than other days ($8.99). Some items were too flavorful in a bad way, other items that I was hoping would be flavorful in a good way were not that flavorful. The naan and the chicken were good (my buddy thought the chicken was too greasy), other dishes weren't that great. So in the end, I'd say we regretted our choice. (Note: They have "brain" on the menu. Good luck with that.)

If you don't have a passport but want to indulge in some khanna ghar (Hindi for "home food"), this is your ideal destination. Located in a rather shady strip mall in Norcross, Mughal is Atlanta's desi culinary heaven and the cuisine is as authentic as it gets this side of the Atlantic. If you're looking for elaborate decor, a full service waitstaff, and Americanized versions of Indian and Pakistani classic dishes, turn your car around and head South because you won't find any of that here, however, looks can be deceiving. While I can't rave about the aesthetics of the place, I have NEVER been disappointed in a meal that I've received at Mughals...and neither has my husband, and he hails from the sub-continent itself. Since it is owned by a Muslim family, the style of cooking differs slightly from that of the Hindus and it is slightly more oily however, contrary to the other reviews I've read, this is not so overwhelming that it doesn't allow for full enjoyment of the meal. If you want to skip the gravy-based dishes completely, opt for the "mixed grill" which is a fabulous tandoori and grilled meat platter that is divine. The saag paneer is also fantastic and very light -tasting indeed. The naan is huge, fluffy, and hot and the basmati rice is always cooked to perfection. Unlike other Indian restaurants, there isn't a "mild" option and while not everything screams mirchi and chili powder, it isn't for the faint of heart. For those of you with adventurous taste buds and a love for Indian cuisine, I highly recommend Mughals. For those who are slightly cautious and/or want a proper introduction to Indian food, I would suggest starting out elsewhere as this place may leave you with a mixed feeling about desi cuisine--a mistake you most definitely do not want to make :-)

One of the few places where you can get a bahari kabob. Got a beef and chicken roll as well. Everything was very good. Flavorful, tender, juicy, delicious. It takes about 20-25 minutes to get your food but like the staff member said on the phone (I was eavesdropping) "we cook the food fresh so it's going to take a little longer than usual." Great experience, interesting area as well.

Ahhh Mughals! I have been eating at Mughals for as long as I can remember. I can clearly look back and think of how young I was when I first started eating at this place. It is the best Pakistani food you're going to eat in Atlanta. No one makes beef kabab roll like them. Their goat biryani is to die for, so delicious! The owner is extremely nice and pleasant to talk to. Their party hall is very pretty, so if you want to book them for a party, look no further. Overall, good food, friendly employees, and good chai to complete off your meal.

I tried two different dishes, bhindi masala and palak paneer. Bhindi masala: EXTREMELY oily, not spicy, not tasty, not cooked properly Palak paneer: pretty tasty, not spicy, too creamy I would give them a 1 star rating but the naan is delicious and the service is pretty friendly.

These guys have had a bit of a rollercoaster ride over the years. I would never had bothered to write a review let alone give it 4 stars a couple of years ago. But I have to admit that over the past year or so I am starting to get impressed. The quality of all the regular fare has certainly improved. But I see that they are re-inventing themselves with new creations which they are doing a pretty good job at. I got the fried rice the other day which has always been a fav. The guy told me they had a special that night which was a goat "yakhni" rice. That is something which is a very homely Pakistani dish. I was so excited to try it that I came back the next day but they didnt have that special. I did decide to go with the "chicken" bihari kabab. Now as all faithful behari kabab lovers will tell you, that is something which is only done right with beef. All I will say is that I was amazed at the flavor. Kudos for mixing it up and taking the risks. I hope they continue this upward trend.

I have been a regular for the last 6 years and since we moved to south Carolina last year we even drive to Atlanta especially to dine here!!! The best ever goat biryani, kabobs and kadai gosht! The food quality and service has been consistent since I have been going there. Highly recommend!!

Have been coming here for years. While the restaurant is not the cleanest, it very close to home-style Pakistani food that you'll get. Try the chicken samosas or the biriyani. All of their food is spicy, so be prepared. ( I'd have it no other way ) Very busy place especially on Sundays for their brunch.

My experience at this restaurant was consistent with what I have read in several other reviews. Simple, straightforward, unique from food I have had in any Indian restaurant, though there is a great deal of common ground with northern Indian food. We had a ground beef stew of some sort--helpful photographs of all the dishes at the counter (this is counter order, food brought to you at table style eating) made ordering much easier, as many dishes had names we were unfamiliar with. We also had a vegetable medley in a spicy curry sauce and a a spinach and potato dish somewhat like a saag paneer but with potatoes instead of Indian cheese. All three dishes were tasty and unique but extremely oily--indeed swimming in oil. The nan was just average, certainly not special. Recommended if you like spicy, don't mind very oily and want something significantly different from what you'll find elsewhere. No frills restaurant where what you see is what you get.

  • The Food L.

This is not an impressive looking restaurant but they have the best food. Try lamb biriyani and beef kabob roll. My entire office loves their food. Every year we bring these items for our x-mas party.
