Best restaurant within 50 miles. Clean healthy food. Good decor. Easy mellow service. Always look forward to eating here. Not overly hip... Just great food.

My FAVORITE restaurant in Georgia! It's a hidden gem in downtown Milledgeville. The same server is always there when we go and he is extremely helpful. Last night my husband and I shared the Dinner for 2 Combination Greek Platter. It was my first time trying the Greek salad. The salad stole the show for me! The wine was also amazing, the special was four half glasses of any wine sold by the glass for $10, (hubby and I shared the wine). We love everything we've tried here...from the gyros, souvlaki, spanakopita, amazing tzatziki sauce, tri dip appetizer, kabobs, etc. The restaurant is kid friendly and my kids enjoy everything on the menu! The servings are large and we never leave hungry...plenty of leftovers for the next day!

Good beer and good food. They use fresh meat on the gyros, not the pre frozen kind you get at most greek restaurants.

NICE SERVICE & GREAT PRICES! Very nice and responsive service, really good value and well-priced items! I had a nice sampling many items. Of all, I have to say the hummus and babaganoush were delicious! Very fresh, and great texture, served with warm fresh pita (closer to a flatbread). Huge portion as a combo appetizer for $4.95. The combo chicken/steak kebab platter ($8.95) was served with rice, and a few grilled vegies. It was just okay, with the beef tough. A small tabouli was $3.95, it was dry and needed much more lemon, salt, and olive oil. Drink prices are featured, and I had a draft beer and bottled beer -- both were less than $2.50 each. All in all, really good value...and just fine if you are looking for something to nibble other than the standard american fare, or pizza, that this area has to offer. Quality is nowhere close than what I can get in Los Angeles.

If you're in the mood for Greek cuisine, Metropolis is a great stop for inexpensive causal dining. Their hummus is really good. I'm a fan of their falafel wrap and their gyros are good as well.

Dear Metropolis, I'm writing to you from a coffee shop on Hollywood Boulevard where I've paid three dollars for a can of Kern's Guava Nectar, and while, after drinking this nectar, I feel boyishly supple in that Californian way I hadn't, before now, felt for a while, the price of this can, as well as the clamor of the middle aged people playing Diplomacy, makes me pine for the good old days of guzzling chai, and then, Michelob Ultra. Do you know that I haven't had one Ultra since I left you, Metropolis? Yes, yes, there've been a few Bud Lite Limes here and there, but don't count that! Please, if the citrus comes already squeezed into the can, how can I be cheating? No, I will never squeeze another lemon into another Ultra the way I did with you. I miss you, falafel. I miss you my pretty dolmades. I see your Mediterranean friends on my new coast talking all about kafta. Kafta, I don't know you. I'm too afraid to ask what you are. Please leave me alone kafta. Let me finish my Kern's. Love, Dibital Nation

Great find! They also have one in Warner Robins and one in Macon. The Greek Nachos are an excellent choice, especially with gyro meat. The dolmades are a great addition to any meal. The Greek salad is healthy but filling. Skip the chains, eat fun!

Solid Greek food, but a little pricey. The atmosphere was relaxed and divey, but I've had better. Certainly the best in the area as far as Greek food goes.

Had the Greek burger, and it was outstanding. Perfect with the feta cheese, and tzekie sauce. The service was exceptional. Overall an outstanding meal. My son had the Greek nachos and was overwhelmed by the portion size.

Best salmon ever in my life!! Light and healthy. Loved the waiter as well. Wish I would have ordered extra veggies on top because those were good too... Visited with family and hummus was destroyed, gyro was approved, but chicken kabobs a little dry...

Shame on me for returning to Metropolis after so many previous negative experiences there. I stopped in and picked up three veggie samplers on my way home from work. They must have been running out of food or something because we received the tiniest portions--maybe 2 tablespoons each of hummus and baba ghanoush, no olives, a pitiful portion of tabouleh. The presentation was embarrassing, especially for the prices we paid. See attached photo. We did receive a ton of pita bread, but I'm not sure what they expected us to dip it in. My husband literally laughed out loud when he saw what I had brought home for dinner. I would have laughed, too, except that I had just paid nearly $40 for what turned out to be our appetizers. I have never received such shabby treatment from an eating establishment in my entire life. I have learned my lesson and will not be returning. It's such a shame that the Milledgeville Metropolis is so crummy. The one in Macon is so much better and would never treat customers this way.

This place was great! I had the chicken kabobs and basmati rice with an appetizer of hummus... everything was amazing! Server was chill and really good.

This place gives Mediterranean places a bad name. How it survives probably hinges on fact that Milledgeville has very few options for food overall. I would also assume most locals haven't had better but keep coming back out of desperation. From its irregular dining room decorum, to its bumbling wait staff pulling college job hours, this place is just all over the place. I've gone several times over the past 2 years, and keeps getting worse. What's with the register in the dining room on a dining table guys? Really? Comparatively, its lazy as a eatery. Poor training obvious. This meal, the dolmades felt thrown together, the falafel was fried in grease that was too hot and possibly old, and the entree spanikopita was burned with a spinach mix that was questionably from a can, mixed with some in house ingredients. The falafel may have been some frozen variety, but am unsure. My date ordered a lamb gyro, but got chicken and because things came late, were even lukewarm on a non busy night, we asked for to go boxes and some tsatziki sauce to go since they'd not given us any with the falafel. They never gave it to us. Also odd, originally we asked for the lamb burger and they claimed they were out. Something is very amiss here and any Greek boy's mother would be ashamed of how this place is run. The Greeks exclaim, "Opa" to express their joy. All I've got for this place is "Oopsy!"

Didn't care for this. The Greek gyro I had at the state fair this fall was much better than what I had tonight. We also had a Spanakopita appetizer. The phyllo was greasy we couldn't eat it. The fillng was tasty but the crust was terrible. We won't be doing this again.

All I can say is, What a find! I'd drive a long way to eat at a restaurant of this quality and you can be assured that I'll make a point of routing my way through Milledgeville whenever I can. I had been through Milledgeville before, a few times, and knew it was a small college town with a nice old downtown area, reminiscent of Athens, but on a much smaller scale. This time, we were starving and looking for a place to eat. We noticed lots of restaurants and had picked out a quaint Italian one. In circling the block and parking, we noticed Metropolis. I cannot turn down Mediterranean food and the prospects of getting lamb. Never expected that in this little town. Very inviting entrance way and the interior was typical of the old storefront, long and narrow and lots of ambiance. There was a bar along part of one wall and I nice outdoor deck. We selected the deck, it was a beautiful day. Staff was friendly and attentive. The menu had what you would expect, plus some other items you don't see so often. Selections included lots of vegetarian choices for those who always feel left out. We started off with hummus with grilled pita bread and ridiculously inexpensive draft Yuengling beers. The hummus was excellent, very smooth and prefect blending of flavors. The pita was grilled perfectly and very tender. We also had some feta and olives, also very good. It was tough deciding what to get for the entree. Lynn went with a vegetarian plate that included dolmades, falafel and a Greek salad. All were good. The salad was not what you normally see in the US as a Greek salad, but more traditional, less lettuce and more onion and tomato. I ended up with spanakopita (yeah, I know, no lamb). It was excellent. We didn't partake, but they also offer, on the deck, the traditional hookah waterpipe experience. I've done that in Turkey. You can select from a variety of tobacco flavors (sorry, no hashish). You can probably smoke your cigars there and enjoy an ouzo or brandy, as well. Highly recommended, you won't be disappointed and Milledgeville is a great place for a day trip from Atlanta, Macon or Columbus.

Always consistent, always good. The best place to eat in downtown Milledgeville. Sometimes they are a little slow but that's unusual. Really love the Indian dishes and wish they were on the menu all the time.

nothing beats Metropolis. Out of all the restaurants in downtown Milledgeville and the ones up 441, nobody offers food as unique, tasty, and affordable. There is a large bank of staple items, like the falafal wrap, chicken souvlaki, gyro, countless salads, hummus, etc. Then, there are the specials that change everyday. But unlike some restaurants, the specials arent overpriced things you're likely never to try. You're lucky to end up at Metropolis on a day when Deepak is cooking up a greek pizza, mousaka (like greek lasagna), or a delicious Indian dish (Thursdays). The atmosphere is warm and friendly, with countless regulars. They recently opened up a new room with a stage and have been good about having live music weekly, usually on thursdays. Metropolis also offers a beautiful back porch with a canopy to keep your head out of the sun. ENJOY! and dont be afraid to ask Deepak to "make it spicy!"

Ate here last night based on Yelp reviews and the recommendation from our B & B. Very tasty. I think these guys would do well in any market: tasty, fresh, and affordable. Ms. L. had the mahi-mahi special and it was cooked perfectly. A little bit of local color at the bar, friendly quick service . . . Milledgeville is lucky to have this little gem. We will certainly eat there whenever we're in Milledgeville, for instance to visit the grounds of the old Central State Hospital.

Probably the best restaurant in town. The food is good and affordable. However, not the best place to order a glass of wine -stick with beer. Also, the music is generally overamplified.

I eat here at least once a week. The Greek salad with chicken is excellent.

As far as Milledgeville goes for restaurants, this place is fantastic. I'm a big fan of Greek food and this place hits the spot! I highly recommend the chicken kabobs; they give you very large portions, sometimes I wish they would add a little more peppers and onions to this dish. They have great beer specials during sporting events as well. I also recommend ordering the hummus and pita bread for an appetizer. The prices are very reasonable as well. The chicken kabob costs around $7 to $8.

Great authentic Greek cuisine at a reasonable price. I haven't tried the Thursday night Indian food, but I hear it's quite good.

Best Hummus I've ever had in Middle Georgia. If you like to eat Hummus - you are denying yourself a great pleasure if you don't make it downtown to Metropolis.
