I arrived at this restaurant at 9:50pm and the doors were locked. When somone walked out, i walked in and the host said they were closed, even though they dont close til 1030pm. I find it extremely rude to lock the doors to deter people from coming in, regardless of how packed the restaurant is. If you're restaurant, especially on a Saturday, you shouldn't be doing this at all!

Oh. My. Goodness!!!! Where do I begin?!!?!! Staff- Excellent, our waitress was literally lightening fast, with ordering, drinks, refills, and our food came out in a flash... Seriously, I haven't received that kind of service in a VERY long time! Food - Chips & Salsa, good heat, chips were the best, very thin, strong, and unsalted, perfection! Appetizer - We decided on the La Parilla Dip, and holy moley, it is soooo delicious!!!!! That bowl was stuffed with steak, chicken, and shrimp in a deep, rich blanco dip. I could have ordered that just for my meal ALONE... it came with tortillas, and it was great on both those, and the tortilla chips. Main dish - I chose the Chimi Rica, and it was STUFFED with meat!!! came with everything you could think of, and being that it was a chimichanga with rice and beans, I had to go for it! Husband ordered the Burrito a La Parrilla, with steak, and it too, was cooked to perfection!!!! For a $35 meal with appetizer and drink, it blows out the big named restaurants out of the water, and the waitress was tipped WELL due to the excellent service and attentive attitude! If I could put 6 stars, I WOULD!!!

This place is notorious for credit cards being stolen. Pay in cash. Foods good and all but they are busy and like I said, bring cash.

Plenty good and one of our top 5 Mexican food restaurants in the area. It's big and busy; seating is very open / not private. This was our first time to THIS location but it's comparable to their other locations. Service was very attentive. Food was tasty and nicely presented.

I've been coming to this location for years. The food is outstanding and the service is quick and friendly. They have a fully bar and small draft selection. I can say with confidence that almost anything on the menu will not disappoint. My favorite is the streak burrito and always the salsa. Enjoy.

I am highly upset about the service I received today at the Mcdougnh Ga location . The food was great . Very delicious & well season . My daiquiri was watered down . The bussers was putting all the dirty dishes near our table . I could barley Enjoy my meal due to smelling dirty dishes and food . I took pictures . The dirty dishes stayed there the entire time . I mention it to the someone who lied and said she was the supervisor. she said it was normal for them to place the dirty dishes & cups ! Now I'm driving back home to finish my food. It took us 40 mins to get food .

My little sister chose this place for her Birthday dinner.. My parents and I sat at a different table, but they sat us close to them to keep an eye on them. (Which was nice) There were boys there so my dad eagle eyed them the whole night. Food was good i had steak fajitas. Steak was cooked just the way i requested. My mom had chicken fajitas And my dad had fish tacos. They both enjoyed their meal. We had enough to take leftovers. If you go on a Saturday you will have to wait a while for a table. Sooo if you are really hungry and impatient, this isnt the place for you. I will visit this place again. *tips for resturant* Should get bigger tables so customers food can fit properly. Table was to crowed when our food arrived. Give more than just 3 tortillas (please :))

The food here is fresh and awesome. I had the Chiles Poblanos Rellenos in chicken and brisket and they were delicious! Also, we happened to have one of the BEST servers I've ever had. Her name is Monique and she offered great customer service! That's BIG in my book!

This is my favorite of all the Mexican restaurants in Henry County. Everything I have tried so far has been very good. Great food. Decent prices. It does get crowded on Friday & Saturday evenings; but that is a sign of a good restaurant.

  • Amonti C.

This spot seems to always be crowded so check in early is my first tip. The entertainment is live which makes eating here feel as if you are in mexico. i typically get the salads and tacos and enjoy it every time. this spot is ideal for a family dinner. like i said earlier make sure you rsvp it stays crowded.

Excellent food. Love their combinations. Tacos, chalupas, enchiladas are always tasty and fresh. They have light and crispy chips. I'm a fan of their mild salsa, my husband likes their spicy version. The service is above average for your average Mexican restaurant. Friendly and professional. Checked on us frequently but we're not pests. Gluten free diners can trust their chips here. 100% corn.

Just off Jonesboro Road near Target & Home Depot you will find the very busy Mexican restaurant with a lively atmosphere. They have a seafood burrito that I truly enjoy with shrimp, tilapia, and a cheese sauce that includes rice & the usual refried beans as sides. If you are really hungry try the steak a la parilla or the burrito. The chips and salsa are good; however, the salsa is finely pureed and does not have a chunky blend as most people expect. If you like that type of salsa head over to Hampton to La Michoacana near Waffle House on 19/41. This a chain type restaurant with several locations in Georgia. I have visited the one in Macon, GA and it has the same food and vibe as this location.

Great food. Decent prices. Great atmosphere! The La Parilla dip is hands done the best item on the menu. Get it! You won't be sorry! This is my favorite Mexican food in Henry county and I've lived here for almost 10 years.

  • Nathan B.

Love the food here but one of the few times I had chicken tacos I got food poisoning, order beef and it's the best Mexican place around

  • Jonette G.

Fun atmosphere, I liked that they made tableside guacamole but it was a little bland as was everything else I ate. The mango salmon was well cooked but light on flavor.

  • Eileen G.

Great chips, "so-so" salsa. Texas margaritas are good, however... They have a new menu and some of our favorites have had a price increase of 20-30%. There are way too many Mexican restaurants in Henry County with food as good (if not better) that charge a LOT less than La Parrilla.....

Good food, atmosphere and service. I would definitely eat here again.

On Saturday 29September my husband and I visited the McDonough location for the first time, and we had great service and food. Our waitress name Fabuloso or Fabi was awesome. I was very satified with her customer service. I am looking forward to visting that location again.

This was the best Mexican restaurant experience that I have had since moving to the Atlanta area. My husband and I went to one Mexican restaurant and forgive me because I do not remember the name of it and I think that is on purpose due to the not so good customer service and the tasteless food. BUT La Parrilla here in McDonough made it all better for me. :) The service was exceptional and the food was absolutely DELICIOUS!! 5 STARS!!!! Our server was Teresa and she was the greatest. I am a very PICKY eater and my husband can attest to that. I will definitely eat at La Parrilla again and I recommend it to anyone. Trish~

God...this place made me question my whole life. I mean I've been to California and had "real" Mexican/Southwestern food once before but this place....Wow...I think I'm going to move to Henry Co. just to be close to you, La Parilla. Let's start off with the best part about any Mexican restaurant: bottomless chips & salsa....OMGBESTCHIPSEVER...thin, crisp, salty. That's really all I ask for in a tortilla chip. And the salsa had the perfect amount of kick; not for pansies that's for sure. Make sure you order a grande portion of the guacamole because it's definitely the best guacamole (besides my own) that I've ever had, and you'll want to finish the entire grande portion on your own. I wonder if they sell that stuff in five gallon drums. That should last me about a week. They also have a very extensive menu of your standard Mexican dishes plus tons of original dishes that are very flavorful and very well executed! I had the Fiesta Salad and oooohhhh La Parilla you bettah hush puttin' that salmon on ME! Needless to say, I loved it... I really can't wait to go back...I'll travel the 30 miles out of my way just to get me some of that yummy guacamole! Oh and the service was very prompt - we never had to ask for a drink refill, extra napkins, more chips...they were EXTREMELY attentive!

Great food and service. I recommend the La Parrilla dip, and the Burrito la Parrilla.

The prickly pear margarita was good. The server was very nice to us.The pitcher costed $30 though. If the pitcher was a little cheaper than I would become a regular cuatomer.

This place used to be ok. It's always been noisy and chain Mexican with decent drinks--a three acting like a four, but I went yesterday and it has really gone down. I won't be back. Poor service--a bunch of servers with attitude standing around and the manager not paying attention. I was seated in the bar without being asked if that was what I wanted. Food delivery to table was clumsy at best. The food was lackluster and oversalted. The rice, to be fair, was good, but my steak and beans were uninspired. The bill was far too high for the quality of the experience: $55 for two margaritas and two dinner entrees with the unearned tip on top of that. La Parilla has descended from ok but nothing special to fairish but really not worth going. "Meh" is putting it nicely. If you don't know what good Mex is and don't care how you're treated and don't care if you're overcharged for thumbs down in each of those areas, maybe La Parilla is for you. Not again for me, La Parilla--no mas! What little thrill there was is gone. At least nobody was having a birthday--clap, clap, clap!!

OK, I have to say right away, I'm not a huge mexican food fan. I go because the rest of the group wants to go. This place was OK though. Everyone got something different and we all thought it was good. The salsa and queso was not great though. Chips were good, hot and fresh however. I'd give it a 3.5. Staff was good

We are new to the area so I headed straight to yelp for recommendations. The reviews for La Parrilla were more positive than not so we decided to give it a try. From the moment the chips and "salsa" were brought out I knew it could only go down hill from there. The chips were decent but the salsa made Pace look like it was upscale. No herbs or veggies visible at all. I ordered a shrimp quesadilla - it was served on a platter not cut at all. It was supposedly fajita style but unless than means an over abundance of barely sautéed onions and two bell peppers... they missed the mark on that one. The only bright spot from our visit was our service which was well above par. Still on the lookout for authentic Mexican food in Henry County.

I have never had good service here. The food never comes out the way that I ask it. The only reason that I come back is that it is the only Mexican restaurant that my friends seem to know.

  • Russ N.

This is our favorite Mexican place. The Arrachera (steak) is really flavorful.

  • Paul K.

I eat here several times a month and I do love this place. I am a big fan of Mexican food and always seek out new places. I have had my share of experiences in the Henry county area and besides one other place on Hudson Bridge rd this is the other best Mexican place to eat. Always has a large crowd so expect a wait, but never a long one. I haven't had anything here that I didn't like, the staff is always friendly and willing to accommodate any reasonable requests. Keep it up guys!

Food was good but we waited a loooong time for our food. THEN the orders were wrong smh. It was the kitchen's fault. Waitress seemed upset until we tried to have a convo with her. She immediately started smiling and laughed with us. Overall, I enjoyed this place but the kitchen needs some work....

  • David B.

Service was good. I had the seafood burrito which has shrimp and tilapia with a cheese sauce, pico de gallo, rice and beans. A lot of food for lunch. I enjoyed the dish a lot as it had very good flavor. My only issue was that one of the shrimp still had the shell on it inside the burrito.

I love me some La Parrilla... But ahhhh not this one! I've been to the La Parrilla in Fayetteville and Howell Mill and love those. The one in McDonough plays country music and does not have a Mexican warm feel. The food was okay, just did not enjoy the feel.

I've been here several times, and may be a bit too harsh on the 'star rating' for this review. I never liked stars anyway. Its much better if you read the reviews. Anyway, the food is decent. The problem is that it reeks of 'chain' mexican food. Something just feels very factory like about it. Several other reviewers have called it a chilis for mexican food and the comparison is spot on. The prices also tend to be a bit higher than the typical mexican restaurant. The food isn't bad and it won't stop me from going back, but its not authentic and nothing about it seems fresh either. The chips usually seem a bit on the plain side to me. They cry out for a hint of salt to be added during the cooking process. The salsa is great even if the texture hues a bit too much on the liquid side of things. It has a kick and a ton of flavor though. The texture is my main complaint but it is great salsa. The meats are generally typical mexican fare. There is better to be had but they are cooked solidly and pretty tasty when combined with everything else. I do have to say the guacamole is very good. My number one complaint about the restaurant is the sheer noise level. On Sunday, they have a band and you can barely hear yourself think much less talk to anyone you are having a meal with. On any other day, the place is basically an echo chamber and the noise level reaches insane levels even without the band. Its nearly impossible to have a conversation. My recommendation is to sit outside if at all possible.

Do not come here on a Friday night for dinner, unless you have an hour to wait. I came into town and this was my request. Big mistake, as the wait was an hour. However, once we sat service was quick. Everyone loved their food, one had fajitas, another had number one veggie combo, another had the seafood burrito, and i had the burrito a la parrilla. Overall a good meal. I must say, my favorite part is the La Parrilla dip at the beginning of the meal!

    (3)
  • Philip M.

Delicious today! Light crispy chips and great salsa. Love the meaty cheese dip called La Parrilla dip, had it as my meal! Comes with fresh pico which was light, bright and perfect topping on the dip covered chips with larger cbhicken, shrimp and beef chunks. A must try!

  • Darren H.

Much nicer than the location in Alpharetta. I don't know if that's because the people on the south-side appreciate there Mexican joints more or it just worked out that way. Outside of the decor it's pretty much the same food you get at any of the other locations A-ok, i'm still looking for that killer Mexican and BBQ place in Georgia.

  • Kori M.

Been to this location twice and i have to say that I'm a fan. Last night I had the Taquitos and they were the best! They come out on the plate with cheese dip, sour cream, lettuce and pico. It was almost like eating a salad with Taquitos in it. It was so good. I've also had the salmon with asparagus (random I know) but it was really good. Like really, really good. I was shocked. lol They drinks are good and strong. I like the Prickly Pear. Ample parking at this location and the service is excellent - everyone is friendly. side story: we ate on the patio one time and a little kid threw up right by the door. her mother didn't know what to do...so she just kept eating while the rest of us were horrified. Don't know why I shared that story. It was just so random I figured others had to know. lol

  • Phin S.

A little too mass produced feeling to be a five star place, but it seems quite solid. Pretty good service, solid food, and a nice selection of drinks. I'm happy this place exists. Edit-- I downgraded this place to three stars due to competition in McD. Ultimately, it just feels a little impersonal and is relatively expensive (a small cheese dip is around $4. A large cheese dip is around $7 IIRC. Can't imagine paying that for melted cheese). My two big complaints here are: -Crowds. This may not be fair, but there are always people pouring out the door when we go here. It is annoying. -Staff. There are some people that work here that seem kind of weird. We've had multiple sort of uncomfortable experiences.

  • Bing F.

Basically a Chili's with high ceilings, La Parrilla serves up decent enough fare, quickly (after the server left the table with our order, I swear that a little man sprung out of the floor with meals in hand.) Unfortunately, the aforementioned high ceilings act as a combination echo chamber and amplifier, making the dining room about as quiet as a junior high school cafeteria at peak lunch time. Despite the horrendous din, the food was pretty good. I had the Burrito Ranchero, which had the delicious option of steak cooked-to-order, chicken or a mix, served with rice and beans. Jae had the shredded chicken burrito which came with the same rice, but refried beans. Ambiance is downtown warehouse chic and your background atmosphere is a cacophony. If you've a high tolerance for walla and don't really crave the authentic Mexican experience, then this place will serve you well.

  • Peto F.

It's an amazing Restaurant. The menu features items that are very unique. I love the FIESTA SALAD which includes Salmon. At some point they had trouble with their credit card processing, but that has been resolved. Good for the Restaurant, good for the customers, and good for Henry County.

    (4)
  • Cole W.

This restaurant can be deceiving: the prices are high but you are not getting authentic food. I liken this place to the Chili's of Mexican restaurants. Yes, you find normal Spanish fare here like fajitas and burritos, but you are paying a $5 premium for the atmosphere which...well reminds me of Chili's. Pricey, decent food that provides a fun atmosphere for kids.

  • Pit P.

The chips and salsa. The wait was over an hour... and when we were eventually sat down the the service was good. This place was OK though. Everyone got something different and we all thought it was good.

This restaurant is neck and neck with On the Border! I never thought I would say that. My sister is an avid mexican restaurant connoisseur, so she is always introducing my family to new restaurants. She took me to this location for the first time Christmas Eve '08. (there are several other locations in Atlanta and surrounding areas including Howell Mill Rd in Atlanta which I've been to as well.) The atmosphere is clean, that was the first thing that caught my attention because I can't stand a dirty restaurant! The waiters are friendly, prompt, and they get your food out quickly. I ordered the super burrito because I like all the fixings, and most of the other burritos don't come with anything on them. I love that the meat (I've only tried chicken) is seasoned so well, not too light, not too heavy, honestly it was the best mexican I'd had in a while. As you can see from my raving on and on it was delicious! You are getting this from the pickiest of picky eaters so just know that I'm telling you the truth!

Mexican Cuisine

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.
