This place is amazing and the price is perfect!!! Absolutely one of my favorite lunch spots. I usually have their signature chicken and french toast, but they also have delicious sandwiches and tacos. One bite of their marinated, perfectly seasoned chicken and you will be hooked. The owner is super friendly and social. His staff is polite as well. My only disappointment is I only get to come here on working days because Marietta is so far from my hometown North Gwinnett.

Must be called the Local because that's how this place will make you feel! Located on the corner of the Marietta Square you'll have a good view of the rest of the Square and all it has to offer. Great place for good a good breakfast. When you walk in you order and pay upfront and choose your seat, they have outdoor and indoor options. It's a great atmosphere, and I love that it's on the square. They make an awesome chicken biscuit. And I don't take chicken biscuit rating lightly! I also tried their cinnamon donuts that I've heard about and they did not disappoint. They were fresh and warm and HUGE. I don't typically find a donut to be filling but this was. I've been here several times now and the food is consistently great and the service has been what I would call "above and beyond" every time. They have friendly staff who want you to have a good experience at their restaurant, which I must say makes "The Marietta Local" name- all the more charming.

I got the chicken biscuit and my boyfriend got the French toast and fried chicken. The food was DELICIOUS. They also have a very friendly, relaxing atmosphere. Seating outside has umbrellas to keep you out of the sun and a great view of the square. The staff was incredibly friendly and accommodating. This was a great way to spend my Saturday morning. We will definitely be back!

Good Food!!!! A friend suggested I try the fried chicken and French toast at this spot..... and let me tell you, they did not disappoint. Now at first site, I thought my chicken was burned due to its color, but it was cooked perfectly, it basically a flatten chicken breast, seasoned, breaded and cooked to perfection.. Everything on my plate was delicious, from the huge French toast ( that I couldn't finish) with a hint of vanilla flavor, topped with warm caramelized apples and served with warm syrup to the yummy fried chicken..... Did I mention the chicken??? Lol I ordered a Arnold Palmer with my meal ( strange), the beverage station was very clean, actually the entire restaurant was very clean and the service was wonderful. My friend ended up ordering a burger, no complaints there. Run Down - no table service - seat yourself - great food - great service - decently priced - local food I will be back!

My husband and I came here on a whim one Saturday afternoon. We had the intention of spending time in the square, so we dropped in at The Marietta Local. I was a little surprised that it was a counter sale restaurant. I prefer these types of places since the turn around it a little quicker, but you don't see that very often, especially since they also serve brunch. My husband opted for the fried chicken sandwich with fries and I opted for the meatloaf since I did not want anything fried. Once the food came, it was clear that the chicken was the winner. Not that I regretted my decision, but that chicken looked too good. However, their meatloaf was absolutely delicious! The tomato glaze that it came with was the star of the show. I'm typically a ketchup fanatic when it comes to meatloaf, but in this case, I was able to be without it. As sides, I got the mashed potatoes and green beans. The mash potatoes were good, but the green beans? They were even better. Not sure what they stewed them in, they were pretty much the best variation of green bean I've ever had. Th Marietta Local isn't crazy fancy, nor is it pretentious. I can really appreciate a place in Marietta square that will serve a meal to a tattooed couple without their dissenting opinions.

Had a very good breakfast here last week. I opted for the fried chicken biscuit, which was delicious. The grits were also very good. Nice and creamy, although I added a little salt and pepper. I tried a bite of the potato hash and was really disappointed. The texture wasn't my favorite; although it was very flavorful, it tasted like they weren't cooked quite long enough. Would like to return and try the famous fried chicken & french toast!

This place has been on my list of places to try for awhile, and I could never seem to make it by. Yesterday, since I was in the mood for something hearty, scratch made, and Southern...to The Local I went. Had a hard time choosing between the meatloaf and fried chicken, but eventually went with the fried chicken entree, and couldn't have been happier that I did. The food was damn good...no two ways about it. Fried chicken breasts were seasoned well, fried perfectly, and still juicy. Braised collards were some of the best I've had in a restaurant setting, and I loved their grits...fucking awesomeness in a to go container, for about $13. The service was friendly, which is always great, and they've got a pretty extensive menu...not overwhelming like Cheesecake Factory, but not sparse by any stretch. My only gripe? I believe they only offer boneless breasts, as opposed to giving you a dark meat option. I may be wrong though...regardless, I'll be back soon, so that I can try the rest of the menu.

Marietta Local has been in Marietta Square for about a year and a half. They are a great restaurant. They seem to have good food and a warm, welcoming atmosphere. They serve sandwiches and entrees for lunch. They also serve breakfast. They are strictly a breakfast and lunch place. Don't come here for dinner or they'll be closed. I would say the style of food Marietta Local to be Southern comfort food. You can tell with menu items like "Mom's Meatloaf." When you come in, you have to walk all the way to the back of the restaurant to order. They take your name, and a server will call your name and bring your food. I tried their meatloaf, fried chicken, grits, cabbage slaw, green beans, and collard greens. The meatloaf tasted good. I loved the sauce on it. The meatloaf was moist and juicy. It was flavorful. I liked it. It was very comforting. The fried chicken looked like boneless breast flattened out like a schnitzel, breaded, and deep fried. They give you 2 pieces. I thought it tasted good. The skin was nice and crunchy. It had some good flavor from the salt and pepper. The brining gave the chicken meat some flavor and kept it moist. I liked it. Their sides were good. Their green beans and collard greens are cooked the same way. They seemed to have cooked them with tomatoes and chili peppers. I could taste the tomatoes and the heat coming from them. Their cabbage slaw was good. It was interesting compared to your standard lettuce slaw. It tasted good. Their grits were very creamy. If you like super-creamy grits, this is the place to go. Overall, I liked the service and food. What more can I say? This is a solid place to get breakfast and lunch on Marietta Square.

I have heard so many good things about Marietta Local we decided to go after one of the Marietta Square Markets. First off the staff is the BEST. What awesome people they have working there! I did the Garden Omelette which is the most basic thing on the freaking menu and I could not SHUT up about how good it was. The eggs were the best I have ever had. Fresh, local, good prices. AMAZING. Then bc I am a fat kid at heart I got the french toast as well. Another amazing dish!!

I like this place and I would really like to go back sometime and try it again. I think if I ordered something different I may have given it higher reviews. The service was prompt and friendly. No issues there. I ordered some sort of monstrous salad that came with goat cheese balls, and I split a burger with the wife. The salad was really good as well as the burger. The goat cheese balls left something to be desired. They were cooked very well but the inside stuffing was simply goat cheese and nothing else. It needed something else inside with the cheese to balance out the flavor. All and all, it was a very pleasant experience but I did what I ordered did not blow me away. I look forward to trying out the rest of their menu.

I decided to try the Marietta Local after seeing the reviews in Yelp. I was in the area on a Saturday morning and tried them for breakfast. The Marietta Local sits in the location that was formerly occupied by Tommy's Sandwich Shop. I used to frequent Tommy's when I worked in this area, and I must say the Marietta Local is a big improvement. I was very pleased with my breakfast and the value for the price. I ordered a chicken biscuit, which was a large and tasty biscuit with a huge boneless fried chicken breast in the middle. The chicken was fresh and tender and had a crisp and spicy breading on it. There was also some cheese in the biscuit. It was filling and delicious and worlds beyond the chicken biscuits you get from Chick-Fil-A. I had a side of the potato hash, which was also very tasty. The staff was friendly and it's a fast-casual style restaurant where you order at the counter and then have your meal brought to you a few minutes later. There are plenty of tables and it wasn't too crowded on an early Saturday morning. The menu had several other selections that looked very enticing. I would definitely like to come back for breakfast or lunch.

Our huge group snagged one of the last tables and beat the rush...always can tell a good spot by the long lines and frequent customers singing praises in line. That only made me more excited. I had the fried green tomato bacon pimento cheese burger. It was to die for!!! One of the best burgers i have ever had!!! The pimento cheese had a little spice, the fried green tomato added a crunch that was delightful, and the thick cut bacon was perfect compliment. My husband had the chicken salad on a pita. Creamy, good flavor, and really good chicken chunks. We both had fries and they were the kind that are greasy and a hair soggy, but in the GOOD way. Other people in our group had the meatloaf, Devine! They specially made a grilled cheese sandwich for our 4.5 year old. So nice. Staff was beyond friendly and the owner took time to say hello and invite us back. Great LOCAL spot, great food, great location, great staff. We look forward to our next trip to try something else.

Came in for breakfast the other day and it hit the spot. It's a cute little place where you order at the front and then they'll bring your food to the table. They have signs boasting award-winning fried chicken (I believe the best in Marietta) and it was tasty but not the best I've ever had. The French toast with the apples were divine, but my fried chicken biscuit was a little underwhelming and too heavy for breakfast. I'd recommend the fried chicken and French toast, if your waistline will allow it! PS- I wish they had fresh squeezed orange juice. Or at least an option of pulp in my OJ. And check in on yelp, because you'll get a discount!

This was our first visit to Marietta Local. Heard some ppl talking about it at church the day before, and we decided to grab a bite. The staff is great. Very attentive and efficient with keeping the long line moving and all the areas clean. The owner super friendly, and approachable, which also reflects positive on the restaurant. I ordered the garden omlett, opted to sub hash browns for cheesy grits. Now, dont get me wrong, It was good. However, I regretted my order as soon as my two friends meals came...Chicken biscuit with jack cheese. Hands down, best fried chicken I've had in a long time. And I only had scraps of the over sized chicken breast that my friend allowed me to have. I'm so going to take my hubby here.

  • Kat W.

I've been here way to much, so much so that they know my name. I am a sucker for the fried chicken, with a side of grits and french fries. Carb overload! Don't hesitate to stop by one day for lunch or breakfast!

Fantastic chicken. Just wow! Meatloaf sandwich is no slouch either. Great service. Great food. Highly recommended! Back again... had to update my review to 5 stars. It's just so dang good!

I was really excited to see a new restaurant open in Marietta Square... especially one that is completely different from what's already there. While it's a pretty small place with limited hours and is a wee bit pricy, the decor is super charming, the staff and owners are very friendly, they have outdoor seating (a huge plus in my book), and the food is REALLY yummy. I highly recommend giving them a try!

  • Dawn L.

This place is crazy good. It's been an incredible addition to the square. I dance around like a 5 yr old going to visit Santa every time my boyfriend agrees for us to have breakfast here. I've yet to be disappointed, and every friend we've ever brought here has practically exclaimed it's the best breakfast they've ever had. The Fried Chicken Eggs Benedict? Well you know how Kate Moss says "Nothing tastes as good as skinny feels" well I'm here to tell you that's 110% false. The Fried Chicken Eggs Benedict is absolutely worth the guilt that follows. The owner is very nice and super hands on, working just as hard as everyone around him. Everyone here is just as friendly and warm as well. This place blows all the other places directly in Marietta Square out of the water.

What a great little place in downtown. I brought a number of coworkers here for lunch, and was blown away. If you haven't tried the Local, you need to. Ordered the chicken sandwich, tender juicy and the roll had to be backed fresh that day. The side of fries were hand cut and golden. The staff was attentive and very friendly. The Local is a must stop when in town. I'll be back that's for sure.

  • Becky T.

Oh my goodness! This meal was incredible, and you get a LOT! We'd heard this was the best fried chicken around, and it lives up to to its reputation. Tender but crispy, melt in your mouth flavorful! The sides were equally as good... Green beans with stewed tomatoes, collards, and also the mashed potatoes (not pictured). I love the square, and this was a great way to spend an afternoon. Highly recommend!!!!!

  • Dan T.

I'm so glad the Local opened up on the Square. Marietta needed a place just like this. The food is fantastic, especially the chicken biscuit and their grits.

This spot is conveniently down the street and around the corner from my job, which is terrible for my wallet/diet. I've only been a couple times, but the customer service and food is great! Definitely coming back and introducing friends to the Local asap!

  • Elizabeth M.

We just came down to visit from Virginia and stopped at the local to eat lunch and I'm so glad we did! It was the most amazing fried chicken sandwich I have ever tasted! My husband got the local burger and gobbled every bit of it. We definitely recommend everyone to go in to the local and enjoy the southern hospitality that we received!

    (5)
  • Dave G.

I took Jim T.'s advice and tried the meatloaf sandwich again. Outstanding! Jim even stopped by to chat. So Jim, thank you very much for your hospitality. The Local experience is truly a welcoming atmosphere with excellent food. Trust me, folks, you can't go wrong with this place. It's on point!

  • Marcos B.

Amazing service right on the Square! I had the fried chick and French toast and I don't think I've ever had better chicken with a perfect blend of salty with a hint of pepper and sweet maple and cooked apples. So good!

  • Kendal M.

This is one of the "newer" restaurants on the square (as many have been there for years), and it has a nice southern country joint charm. The service was attentive and genuinely friendly. We stuck with the signature dishes and they did not disappoint: fried chicken with waffles, and the meatloaf plate -- both delicious. The fries were done exceptionally well, they've got a secret other restaurants can't seem to figure out. I've had quite a few meals in the general area, and this one is on the top of the list.

Had jury duty today. Fun times. Opened my trusty yelp app to search for lunch places and up came the Marietta local. Ya'll....AWESOME FRIED CHICKEN. Do it. Now. And you're welcome.

  • Joe B.

Wow, what a treasure! The food here was absolutely delicious which was a huge surprise as I haven't noticed this restaurant in the last year whenever I have visited the square. Ordered a chicken salad sandwich and it was probably the best I ever had. I'd go back for sure the next time I return to Marietta. Side note: as I walked in, there were patrons walking out raving about the fried chicken and French Toast. I'll try that next time.

Went today and had the wonderful French Toast and Fried Chicken, why can I not have this EVERY day - would be happy!!!!

  • Stephen B.

First time trying this place was today at Taste of Marietta and I was certainly not disappointed. Chicken and Waffles if always my go to dish and when I saw Chicken and French Toast I was done for. This place is known for its chicken and it's easy to see why. It was perfectly cooked with the perfect amount of crunch. The addition of the cooked Granny Smith apples on top was just the icing on the cake. My Father-in-law got the shrimp and grits and he seemed to enjoy them tremendously. The most impressive part of this place to me though was the owner. I got to stand around and talk to him for a bit and you can really tell he loves what he does and the food shows that.

Apparently, chicken is the way to go at this restaurant. I don't eat chicken, but the others in my party ordered a buttermilk fried chicken biscuit. I ordered a biscuit, a scrambled egg and cheese grits. One of the chicken biscuit eaters ordered a side of grits and the other ordered a side of potatoes. None of us loved our biscuit, but it wasn't awful. It was very heavy and fried. The two of us who ordered cheese grits didn't like them. They were soupy and gritty. Yeah, they are grits but there was a sub gritty taste that wasn't pleasant. The egg was just okay. It is hard to mess up a scrambled egg, but they came close. My friend said that her potatoes were cold. Food is ordered at a counter and a server brings it to the table. Employees are very friendly. The restaurant is small and cozy with plenty of natural light. I bumped my review up by one star, since Jim (the owner), commented on my 3 star review. He truly cares about his restaurant and he is obviously trying to make the restaurant great.

  • Magan C.

I rarely give any restaurant 5 stars but The Local stands behinds its name of having the best chicken sandwich in Marietta. My husband and father in law got the chicken sandwich and couldn't stop talking about the favor and juiciness of the chicken. The slaw on the sandwich added an unexpected burst of flavor that complimented the chicken nicely. I had the chicken club and it was one of the best chicken clubs I've had in a long time. The great ingredients and hand cuts fries make this place a must if visiting the square!

Delicious! We stopped here while in town based on the Yelp reviews. So glad we did! The pesto chicken salad sandwich was amazing! My husband has the goat cheese salad a+! We loved the extra 10% off incentive too! Such a cute part of town! Great ambience!

My son and I were on our way to NY Deli on the square (another great sandwich place) when we passed by The Marietta Local. Saw some people eating and their food looked amazing. Turned to my son and he said are you thinking what I am thinking. YEP. So we skipped NY deli and popped in. I guess they are known for their chicken and waffles. Both my son and I got the chicken sandwich and fries. Ranks up there as one of, if not the best fried chicken sandwiches EVER. Will be back

Was there today for lunch with friends and we were all very please with our lunch. The Fried Chicken Salad and the chicken salad sandwich were very good. Will differently return.

  • Lauren G.

Overall a solid 4 stars. Good value for the money ($27 for two meals with drinks). Great ambiance and a super friendly staff. The Chicken and French Toast combination is out of this world. The crispy breading and juicy, tender breast pairs perfectly with the best French toast I've ever had - fluffy, thick bread topped with apples and a not-too-sweet syrup. I wish they sold a half portion because twice I have eaten every bite because it is too good to leave on the plate. My husband had a burger with hand cut fries and said it was delicious - I didn't try it but it looked and smelled great. We will definitely be back.

Great little place. I was called for jury duty and went there for lunch. They won some award for best fried chicken in Marietta so I decided to give it a try and it exceeded my expectations. I had the fried chicken sandwich. Everything was very fresh and the staff was very friendly and outgoing. The owner also came out and made a point of talking to everyone who came in. I'd definitely recommend this place to anyone passing through.

Great food, great atmosphere and super service. Jim and his team are attentive and engaging but not pushy. We both had the Local Benedict special, home made biscuit, fried chicken, fried egg, hollandaise with a side of potato hash. Best breakfast we've had out in a year or more easily. Jim gave us a sample of the grits, though we struggled to find room for them. Straight up awesome as well. The potatoes were good, but had we known. It's a short walk for us, so definitely going to become a go to spot for breakfast and lunch.

Jeez us!!!!!!! The best chicken and challah dish ever invented.. I'm used to chicken and waffles. But chicken and challah. I could have eaten 2 orders of this manna from heaven. I think they should rename it " /southern Jew food" The crispy fried Challah with syrup and apples and salty Fried chicken. Omg!!!!!!!!

I had high hopes for this place but as other reviewers mentioned the concept is there but the execution is not. The first time I went I ordered a salad and it was seriously the most tasteless salad ever. I didn't want to judge a place by just going once and the fact that I ordered a salad so t went back a second time and ordered the burger which had good reviews. Again was left unimpressed. The best thing I had here was the iced tea... note: the feeling inside the restaurant just was off, I don't know how to really explain it but i didn't get a good vibe from it and i'm not one to talk about vibes.

Just walked by this little spot while getting my car serviced on a Saturday morning. Was greeted walking across the street and was told it was a great breakfast place. So why not? While deciding the young lady said I looked like a chicken biscuit kind of guy. Turns out she was right. Absolutely the best chicken biscuit I ever had! It was a huge biscuit and big crispy Chicken breast not dried out. I don't get to Marietta very often, but, when I do I will get back to try the fried chicken and French toast. Will try to plan all my car services for early Saturday mornings. A very enjoyable experience and I got there just before the crowd.

The largest and best chicken biscuit on the planet! Had never been before, went with family on Saturday. 3 ordered chicken, 1 ordered a sausage biscuit. All 3 chickens had 4" x 4 biscuit with a 6"x4" chicken filet. So big none could finish them. Sausage was opposite, huge biscuit, teeny sausage patty. There was a reason the place was packed, A++

  • Leah F.

So flipping good! I have never been disappointed!!! For breakfast you MUST get the chicken and French toast!!!! The chicken is a full breast coated in a fine flour with a sweet and salty seasoning and fried and melts in your mouth. You want to eat it slowly because you don't want it to be gone. Lol! If you are looking for a good salad, this is the place as well especially since their dressings are homemade and not squirted from a bottle. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND!!!!!!! Nothing on the menu will disappoint.

I would give it 10 starts but 5 is the max. We both had the French Toast and fried chicken which turned out to be the best thing we've ever had. Owner stopped by and talked baseball with me for about 20 minutes. Very friendly staff with awesome food. We will be coming here for years

Proud/embarrassed to say I've been at least 35 times - figured an update was appropriate. Fried Chicken sandwich is still the go-to, although their specials are great, too. Service remains fantastic - really friendly team in there. Jim, the owner, does a great job making sure we know he appreciates our business. I also love that they have done several dinner-events: Art in the Park, charity dinners, special occasions (MLB Draft night dinner). If they were open for dinner more often, I'd be obligated to eat a lot more fried chicken! I love the Square, and places like The Local - where you can sit outside, enjoy great food - keep it great.

I can't say enough about this little corner eatery! From the meatloaf sandwich topped with homemade pimento cheese to the FRIED CHICKEN AND FRENCH TOAST, you can't go wrong with anything on the menu. Definitely not just a place you can eat at once-in-a-while. Their specials change every day and Chef Briton is always coming up with something award worthy to put a smile on your face and a heavy feeling in your belly. Stop in around lunch time and you'll most certainly bump in to their friendly owner Jim! It's quite refreshing to meet someone that truly cares about his patrons and their experience at his restaurant. If I worked close to the square I'd have a tough time not eating here every day. Five stars for sure and two thumbs up from this happy customer. PS: The stone ground grits will knock your socks off!

I ended up at this place cause it was one of the only places open before 10am on a Monday and I did not know of any other places within walking distance. I ordered a ham and cheese omelette which was very good. There were lots of tables to sit at but you order at the counter and they bring out your food for you. Not sure that I would choose to go back, $9 seemed a little high to me for an omelette.

Dined here solo on a Thursday morning. Was greeted by at least three friendly staff members who guided me through their menu and gave me a brief explanation of the restaurant. Major points, I always love when places go the extra mile so their patrons know more about the business. Ordered the infamous chicken and French toast per previous reviews. Absolutely loved it! Seriously the best fried chicken I've had! I sat on the patio to try to do work before my food came out but actually didn't have time...my food was served within about 5-7 minutes! I was surprised but also realized they need to cater the the employees of then businesses nearby who need a quick get in get out meal. Coffee was good too. Next time I'm going to bring my dog. What a gem, can't wait to try their biscuits next time.

We ordered delivery today while at an event, and the food was so.damn.good. Okay, yes I was super hungry, but still the freshness and flavor profiles were all there! I got.... The local burger: fantastic. Why don't all burgers use bread and butter pickles like them Fries: seasoned right, not too salty. Fresh Made Doughnut: omg, this thick thing was a slice of heaven. A simple doughnut with cinnamon and sugar covering it... simply delicious Others in my group ordered the chicken and french toast, which they loved. Summary: Awesome sauce

Excellent fried chicken sandwich! Reasonable prices, fairly quick service and friendly staff. I'll definitely go back when I'm in Marietta again.

A consistent pleaser! The food is fresh and well prepared. Everything I eat here is delicious! The coffee is wonderful and they have THE best biscuits in Marietta. If the food weren't enough to keep me coming back, the service would be. Always friendly smiles. The employees seem genuinely happy to be there. It can get crowded and loud at peak times but still worth it!

OMG! I have never had French toast this fluffy and delicious! The grits are amazing, and the homemade donuts are yummy! The biscuits are huge and flaky. The staff was super friendly and the atmosphere was relaxed and comfortable. This will become a favorite spot for us!

The Marietta Local is another gem that I found on the square while visiting mom over the last two weeks! This place is fab for breakfast - I love their fried chicken & monterey jack biscuit, and the fried chicken & french toast dish. Yum. Normally I'm peckish and can't finish a whole plate of food... I totally cleaned my plate. Yea that's right. The fried chicken is bomb. And I dig the outside seating - you can't beat it on a nice day. It doesn't hurt that the owner was super sweet and stopped by to say hello and see how we were doing. He genuinely seems to care about his customer's experience, I like that. The only things I wish they had: 1. Espresso drinks - there is no such thing as breakfast without a latte or cappuccino. That would give it 5 stars for me. 2. Bloody Marys/mimosas. What's weekend brunch without either of those?! I'd be so down to have breakfast and a mimosa or two and then wander around the square and buy things I probably don't need while walking off a buzz. 3. Also, this is super extra stupid picky, but, unless they are digging through their trash and putting it in recycling in the back, I think it'd be cool if they had an extra bin for recycling at the coffee station. It would create a more responsible/community focused feel. That's SUPER picky, I know, it didn't effect the dining experience, though. Otherwise, take your kids. Take your wife. Take your husband too, cuz they feedin' everybody up in here!

The fried chicken sandwich- OMG!!!! Seriously, I don't normally eat like this, but it's so good I can't resist. This place is within walking distance of my office...I'm in trouble.

Great food and an amazing owner. The food is always great and the owner is always around asking for feedback. We even had them cater a small event at out home. PLEASE BRING BACK THE CHICKEN BURGER!

I've had great burgers, fries and salads. Nothing crazy amazing. The owner is a really nice guy. We would frequent the place for lunch on the weekends if they served beer. Sitting out on the sidewalk with a good hamburger on a sunny day.... I kinda want a beer. I also don't like placing my order at the counter. I'd rather someone come to the table. All said tho, the food is really yummy.

Have been here twice, once for breakfast and once for lunch. Breakfast was very good, Bacon was flavorful and delicious, almost the best flavored bacon I have ever eaten. Paired with French Toast topped with fresh berries, it was a winner. Partner had an omelet and he wasn't all that knocked out, looked a bit oily, but plenty of ingredients and a grilled biscuit. Not sure why they do that to the biscuit, makes it crunchy and flat, but it's a style and we were giving the place a try. Atmosphere is great for me. Very casual and easy. Order at the counter and they bring your food over. You take care of drinks and utensils, etc. We sat in the window and watched the farmers market pedestrians and it was very comfortable. The owner is always around and wants to make you happy. Next time, we will order off the menu and get fried eggs, bacon and biscuits. At lunch I had the Reuben with Sweet Potato Fries, pals got burgers and Quinoa Salad. It was all good. We sat outside on the street and enjoyed our food and the pleasant vibe of Marietta Square. Portions at lunch were very fair, good sized really. The fries were wonderful and the sandwich was too much too eat. But usually you get stiffed on the corned beef, so I was very pleased with the amount of protein. Sauced just right, it's on the regular list!

The food is delicious. The ingredients are just simple. Not sure why folks go in expecting it to be something out of Portlandia. It's a humble kitchen that tries hard to deliver solid, fresh food. I disagree that the food is flavorless. The fried chicken was incredibly moist and well-seasoned. If you want it spicier, just throw hot sauce on it. Doesn't mean that the sandwich is any less. You can't please everyone. The sides are also on point. I feel like they make an effort to offer healthy side options, like the green beans and quinoa salad, both of which were tasty and satisfying. I've gone in there and gotten just 2 sides. Turns into a less than $5 lunch that is healthy and filling. I'd give this place 4 stars on food, but the extra star was for the head chef who came out and personally asked how I enjoyed the food and asked that I come back. There are no servers, so for staff to come out during weekday lunch hour and personally ask about my meal is the very definition of a "local" kinda place.

Best fried chicken sandwich I've ever had. The collard greens are excellent. Great food and great customer service. This is my family's new favorite lunch spot on the square.

My first time in Marietta was very enjoyable, especially after finding the Local. My first sense in walking in was comfort and peace-and of course my nose picked up the tantalizing smells. I could not believe how good the food was! The biscuits are, well you have got to try them. I came home and told my wife that we're definitely going back. (gonna try the chicken & french toast.) Thanks Jim and Joseph..great and kind staff. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!

Amazing food & wonderful service!! It was our first time here & we will definitely be back! The french toast with chicken and warm maple syrup were a perfect pairing with the sweet potato hash!! It's hard to find a restaurant with all natural food, great service, good atmosphere, and a great price!!

I met one of my clients here for lunch and had a soup. the atmosphere was ok but given the time and day, the weather, location and why I was there (to work). I didn't enjoy the experience much. my client loved her burger though. I'd have to go back alone or with a friend to truly enjoy it.

The food is great. My wife and I went there for lunch and ordered the meatloaf sandwich and the chicken sandwich. Both were delicious. The owner is super nice and the customer service is great. I would recommend this place for an awesome breakfast or lunch.

  • Krud D.

Went for lunch because I heard they purchased local ingredients as this is one of the things I love as it is better for the local economy and it decreases the distance and fuel it takes to get the food to the restaurant. Which is FANTASTIC! Unfortunately they serve everything on plastic and it doesn't look like they recycle. Which is not good. So... the ingredients might be local and "Green" but all the plastic forks, knives, spoons, cups, plates are all now in our LOCAL landfills. :-(

Had a group of four visiting the area on business. Wanted breakfast and I am always on the lookout for something different. Saw this place on Yelp. It was about 7 miles from where we were at but everyone was up for a short drive. We arrived and we were immediately greeted and made to feel right at home! We ordered many different things and everything was GREAT! After our meal again we were asked how everything was and we all felt so good about the experience. Most of us in the group were from Murrieta, CA so from Murrieta, CA to Marietta, GA thank you and we will definitely come again as the opportunity presents! Bottomline - GREAT FOOD! GREAT PEOPLE! GO ALREADY!

Been here a couple of times fried chicken sandwich + fresh fries are top notch. Anytime family comes in town we make the trip then stroll around the square. Everyone always seems to enjoy it! The owner always stops by to check on the food, overall pretty solid!

Food is amazing. Can't go wrong with anything you pick especially when it's all made from scatch. Fried chicken, egg, and cheese biscuit is the bomb! A definite must.

  • Jordan M.

A relatively new spot on the Square, this place still seems to be getting its feet under them, but it's almost there. The burger and fried chicken are top notch, and they serve the best omelet within the square mile (and there are a lot of omelets out here). The lemon vinaigrette is to die for. I've yet to try their french toast and fried chicken (served all day). Assuming they keep it up, this place has 5 stars in its future.

Great little breakfast spot on the Marietta Square. It's clean, cozy and comfortable with a warm feeling. The owner, Jim, greets everyone when they arrive. The food is delicious and fresh. Just a great vibe, and order a donut, they're worth the guilt.

I've been to The Local 3 times now solo and I'm bringing a group of coworkers on Friday. The first time I had the fried chicken with collard greens and mac & cheese. The portion was large enough to fill me up. Everything was great. I had never had collard greens with any type of sauce/glaze on it so I was pleasantly surprised. I might substitue the collard greens for another side in the future as I don't usually order greens (my go toos are mac & cheese and baked beans). I was a little disappointed that the price was $17.33 including a drink. Though my meal came with two sides, ordering the mac & cheese bumped the price up a bit which I didn't understand. I don't think I'll get a plate any time again because it was more expensive than what I wanted to pay for a lunch. All other times I've ordered The Local Burger. AMAZING! I LOVEEEEE me some bacon cheeseburgers and The Local did it right with this one. I'll be ordering it AGAIN on Friday (don't judge me). It's a pretty big burger with two paddies, I was full half-way through but of course still finished it through some miracle. I was satisfied with the price of the burger. I think it came to around $11 or so. The last two times I was there, the manager/owner was walking around making sure everyone enjoyed their meal. That was nice. The last time I was there I took my meal to go. I was having a late lunch around 1:00-1:30. The place was PACKED inside and out. I waited about 25 minutes for my food which I was not fond of.

The first time I went to The Local, I had my family and in-laws in town for the first time. We had brunch here and the breakfast food was outstanding. The owner came to check on our table and make sure everything was cooked well (which it was). He mentioned us coming back to try his burger, and said it was the best. Well, today I tried the burger, and he wasn't lying. Awesome burger and great fries! This place isn't flashy or pretentious, so if you're looking for an upscale eatery, this isn't it. It's just good, home cooking. I'll be back, and often!

%1,000 awesome. I've been in during lunch rush a couple times and Jim, the owner, addresses every returning customer by name and introduces himself to any first-timer he can spot when he isn't in the kitchen assisting his cooks. On off hours, if I returned an inviting smile, Jim would come over and greet me and mildly catch up. He's a rockstar business owner and a truly kind man. They also serve (hands down) the best burger I have ever had. It smells clean in there, pleasant bathroom, and he uses all local and fresh ingredients. Even the mix on the coke fountain is perfect.

The concept is fantastic, the execution unauthentic. We visited on a weekday morning around 9am. Not busy just a few tables. The compter was broken so the owner took our orders to prevent a long wait. It was 4 of us, my husband and I and his parents. He took our orders on two tickets. My husband and I got our food first--I had two eggs and bacon and a homemade donut, he had an omelette-we were both disappointed to say the least. 15 mins later my in-laws got their pancakes--they were also disappointed. While we waited for my in-laws I watched the table next to us get a granola/yogurt cup twice. I watched it get sent back twice. Then I watched the manager/owner apologize. I mention this just to say we aren't the only group disappointed. The other thing that surprised me was all the plasticware. They are "all local, foods from the farmers market" ect. But the plates are plastic bowls, plastic cutlery, packaged everything including jam and butter (not at all local)? None of it fits. AND eating over-medium eggs out of a bowl isn't easy. Needless to say we won't be back-and I am sad about it.

I had the BEST chicken burger ever!! It was juicy and seasoned to perfection. Try it, you'll definitely be highly satisfied. Everything was made to order and the owner, Jim, was absolutely awesome and genuinely appreciates your business. For lunch, I suggest calling ahead and picking up so you're in and out.

  • Jennifer W.

SO DISAPPOINTED!!! We have waited for months on this new restaurant to open, only to be very let down. First, the breakfast menu is surprisingly limited, if you don't want an omlette, your only other choices are a "donut", a bowl of granola, or a biscuit topped with scrambled egg and meat. We ordered the biscuit only to find it topped with a far overcooked version of scrambled eggs and extremely greasy bacon. The biscuit itself tasted frozen and my friend actually had her eggs and bacon placed atop a whole biscuit with a half on top. If this is to be Marietta's newest, hot place for breakfast, they will need to expand the menu and find employees who know how to source fresh ingredients and, at the least, cook decent scrambled eggs!

This place has a very good atmosphere and friendly staff. The food was on point and delicious. It's a bit pricey but the taste of the meals are great. This is my second time visiting and will come back for breakfast/lunch.

I've been here a couple times and like it quite a bit. The fries are crispy, they have the BEST fried chicken I have ever had. The food is all well made, they have a homey atmosphere here. Everything is fresh, and I can't wait to go back. Also, the chicken and french toast is legit. They also get REAL MAPLE SYRUP HERE. FROM A TREE, DID YOU KNOW THAT EXISTED? I did, and was excited as I spent my entire life in Vermont until recently. It was so hard to find the real stuff here and there is no substitute.

  • Christelle M.

My visit here was about three weeks ago, lunch time on a week day. Very good food, service could use some work. One person at the counter was nice. One not so much. Get your silverware before you sit because it will not come out with your food, and bring your dimes and nickels because every little thing is extra (dressing, water cups of a reasonable size, who knows what else!) This is most annoying when your sitting down after you have already paid and have to go through the process again.

  • Ellen H.

For breakfast or lunch, I just LOVE this place. I grew up here in Marietta and am so excited that we have yet another great place to eat. Marietta was in need of a place for fast, fresh, good food. If you go at lunch you have got to try the BTL and do yourself a favor and get the mac & cheese. I know it sounds simple, but you won't believe how good their twist on the classic is. Amazing.

Delicious lunch spot in the center of the action on the Marietta Square. Went in for a Saturday lunch and was treated to some of the best fried chicken and southern comfort food that one could hope for.

  • Gina C.

Limited menu, but what it does have, it does well. This has become my new go-to breakfast spot on the square. Cheese grits are cheesy and very creamy, not just some cheese slapped on the top of regular grits. Fried chicken breasts on their biscuit, specials, or with their french toast is always juicy and tasty. Their toast is to die for. Never thought I'd be saying that about ANY place because I don't typically care for bread.. but this sourdough cut thin and toasted is so yummy. French Toast with those thick-cut bread slices was also very good. The best part - they care about their customers. The staff is constantly walking around and checking on you even though this is an "order at the counter" kind of spot. The person taking the order even apologized for not remembering our names when we've only been there 3-4 times. That kind of attitude and personal attention sets this place apart from so many other restaurants. Plan on trying their non-breakfast items soon!

Oh My Goodness!!! I ordered a burger and Mac n cheese.... I was so busy with my Mac N Cheese that I totally forgot about my burger! Haha! Heavenly! And the cheeseburger was pretty good too. :) I'd highly recommend this place. Great food and service!

This place is amazing. What a great find in a nice small town setting. The food was all natural fresh food. You can tell all ingredients are brought in daily. The fried chicken sandwich won an award for taste of Marietta and I can see why. The owner/chef Jim came out and greeted us and was very friendly. I will be coming back for their breakfast and highly recommend anyone in Marietta to come in and give this local spot. very affordable prices

Awesome food! Awesome atmosphere! Finally some one gets it.. Quality food, great portion sizes and southern food with class! Julie Mae's Southern Classic's gives this place a 5 out 5. Don't deny yourself a wonderful treat! Boxed lunches and picnic meals for concerts on the square .. Also, what great food to have at a southern classic wedding! Welcome to the square .. Thankful for the great food:)

The best fried chicken we've ever had! We were looking for a restaurant that had brunch on Saturdays and that's how we ended up at The Local. I had the fried chicken biscuit and my husband had the chicken and French toast. We shared one of their delicious cinnamon donuts, still warm from the oven. The food was awesome. We've tried other places claiming to have the best fried chicken but The Local actually does! Tender and crispy with great flavor. The staff was very attentive. We enjoyed sitting outside. We will definitely come back.

My girlfriend and I went here because we were walking the square and I was beyond impressed. She got the local burger and fries. She loved it. The fries were perfect! (I stole a few) I got the chicken and French toast, most certainly one of the best meals I've had in a long time. The chicken is amazing and the French toast was great! No complaints at all. All of the employees were super nice. I'd recommend to anyone!

Never before had I entered the doors of The Marietta local. Never before have I tasted French toast and chicken so expertly prepared by a local non-chain restaurant. The light and fluffy French toast with cinnamon apples and powdered sugar. The fried chicken, salty and savory. The service was admirable. I wish more places had such smiling faces and polite employees. I give this place a 5\5 for being everything I look for in a small business like this. I hope one day they expand, their current arrangements are understandably small.

Love this little gem on the square in Marietta! Food is wonderful. The place is family owned and run. The owner came out to make sure everything was great and graciously thanked us for our business. We will be regulars here!

  • Liz M.

My husband and I came here after a recommendation from a friend. We visited for lunch and both ordered the fried chicken sandwich. We were not disappointed! The fried chicken was amazing and the fries and Mac and cheese were great side items. There is not much room inside of the restaurant, but it's right on the square so it's worth a wait. A nice little touch- the owner/manager of the restaurant came around and asked how everything tasted. He even offered to take our plates for us and was so kind. I think it's great to have an owner who checks in with all the customers in the restaurant.

  • Remington S.

Excellent local breakfast and lunch spot. Nothing large or loud about it, this is a great little local spot on the square that is ideal for I nice lunch and some people watching. I had the meatloaf sandwich, my grandmother had their award winning chicken sandwich, and my mother had blue devil burger. Everything tasted excellent including all the sides. Their handcut fries are top notch if you're a fry lover. But my mother says she thought the burger patties are a little thin. The atmosphere is very rustic and conservative with the Christian music station playing. Brick walls and reclaimed wood make this place very comfortable. Overall it was a great experience with great food at a reasonable price, especially considering the quality of their ingredients. So if you're looking for a casual local lunch spot with some tasty southern style dishes give The Marietta Local a try.

I have one little Suggestion that I hope the owners will consider. Today I had called in my order, when I went to pick it up there was quite a long line of people who were hmming and hawing in line over what to get for lunch, I had to wait in the same line as the people trying to make up their minds and ordering, Meanwhile my order sat on their counter the whole time because no one thought to ask "Is anyone in this line just picking up their order?" So by the time I got through the line my lunch had been sitting on the counter a good 10-15 minutes... Now onto the food, Had I been moved to the front of the line I would give this place all 4-5 stars, I work 2 miles down the road and by the time I got my lunch and got back my Hamburger bun was soggy as were my fries...even in their less than new state the food was very good, but again I think if I would have gotten my order in a more timely fashion the food would have been even better. My vegetarian co-worker got their Braised Green beans and Mac & Cheese and raved all about it. So I'll say it again, the food is quite good. Making One Line for Ordering and A Second Line for Pickup would improve my yelp rating 100%.

I just ate at The Local for the first time and I am so mad! I have been missing out on the most heaven-sent chicken sandwich the world has ever known for almost a year! Oh.My.Lordy. Delicious! And, my husband had the shrimp and grits. SO GOOD! This place is the real deal! And, the service was prompt even during a very busy lunch time.

I went to The Local based on reviews I saw on Facebook saying it had the best burger in town. I ordered the "The Local" burger and it did NOT disappoint! It was delicious...as was the quinoa and sweet potato salad that I had on the side. The staff was friendly (and knowledgeable), the place was clean, and the atmosphere was really relaxed. The owner, Jim, made the rounds and talked to customers to get their feedback. I'll definitely be coming back to this place to try their (award-winning) fried chicken sandwich that I've been hearing lots of buzz about. Glad to see this addition to the Marietta Square.

Went again today! Let me say that the chicken here is crave worthy. Ever since my last visit I have had to just about chain myself to my house/desk/steering wheel to keep from going at least once a week. Next time I am going to try to try something different. No promises!

  • Susan S.

I have been waiting to eat here as they have day hours only and are closed on Sundays. We only had time for a biscuit and coffee, but the biscuit was fantastic. Can't wait to try the fried chicken. Wish you were open later into the evening......

Definitely one of the bests burgers I've had in a long time! The food was amazing and the staff were all friendly and helpful. I sat outside and really enjoyed it. It's at a great location on Marietta square. I am definitely going back!

  • Jeff L.

So they claim to have the best chicken, burger & french fries in Marietta. I was dubious. Well, I had the chicken and fries and while I haven't eaten at every restaurant in Marietta, I will say both were FANTASTIC. I will be back to try the burger. Oh, and I'll need to try the Chicken and French Toast for breakfast. French Toast is better than a waffle any day! The one criticism I have was the smell. Definitely smelled like oil/grease. Maybe it was just an issue today... If they can do something about the ventilation, I'd up my review to 5 stars!

Great food, you can tell it's fresh and made with love. I had the fried chicken and my husband had the burger... Both were great! Coming back to try breakfast next time!!! This is a must try, you won't be disappointed!

Meatloaf sliders were just burgers, the pork sandwich was so smothered in barbecue sauce that you could not taste any smokiness or flavor to the meat. It was all moist, which suggested it might've been microwaved. Certainly didn't have that crackle to the outside of the meat from smoking. The bread was good. The unannounced cold "roasted broccoli" side was inedible. This fell way short of the $22 I paid for lunch for two.

Good honest food! Homemade buttery biscuits, crispy on the outside, fluffy on the inside. Locally sourced eggs. Homemade sugar and cinnamon doughnuts. My breakfast was most yummy -- can't wait to go back for lunch!

Went for the first time for lunch and it was really good. The remodeling turned out very well. Food was served quickly and was delicious. I had the pastrami sandwich and loved it. Others I was with said their food was really good as well. Definitely a great addition on the Square.

  • Corrie R.

Recently visited and I have to say the owner is superb! He was very attentive and went out of his way to make sure my group had a great experience. The food was really good (had the baked chicken sandwich) and based on the consensus of my entire table we were all satisfied with our meals. I was especially a fan of the collard greens, fries and even though I didn't have the burger it looked really good. The decor is very homie and they were even playing Christian music in the background which I liked. Very comfortable down-to-earth southern hospitality kind of a place.

  • Christa M.

Went there for a veggie plate and spent over $9 for mac & cheese that would have been better out of the box. While the portions were decent, it doesn't make me want to go back. Lots of other places on the Square with better food and prices.

The Local serves the most delicious handmade donut I've ever had. Served hot with cinnamon and sugar! Amazing:-)
