I cant say anything that hasn't already been said here. Went here for Lunch and got a Shrimp and Oyster PoBoy. This thing was Huge and very fresh, Full of flavor. Service was top notch and very helpful. Cant wait to go back.

I tried this restaurant because this is my boyfriend's favorite restaurant. The food is good and the portions are huge; however, the wait time is really long, especially on the weekends. But, I can't really complain too much about the wait time since this is a very very popular restaurant. To ease the strain of having to wait so long, they had a pretty talented band play for entertainment, which I appreciated. The wait staff needs improvement. The hostesses were helpful, but the waitress that we had was awful. Let's just say she catered to my boyfriend completely, but ignored me because she "thought" that he was going to pay. He got a free drink, attention, and his food about 15 minutes earlier than I got mine. Frankly, I believe the girl wanted a big tip. She was absolutely unprofessional and lazy. I was so upset that I asked the hostess to speak with a manager. The manager seemed a little clueless, but he did offer me a free dessert. I still wasn't very happy about my experience, so I contacted corporate. They called me, asked me questions about the incident, and then they sent me a gift card. The great thing about the gift card was that I could use it at any Pappa's restaurant chain. Nope, I did not go back to Pappadeaux's to use it; instead, I went to Pappasito's across the street where I had a fantastic experience. So, to sum this up, Pappadeaux's food is great, but the service is lacking. I'll probably give this place another chance in the near future because I appreciate that corporate went above and beyond to remedy the situation. Corporate followed up quickly, and I received my gift card shortly after.

LOVE the crawfish bisque...creamy bisque with big chunks of crawfish. I bet this bisque has a billion calories b/c it tastes that good. Lunch special of the crawfish bisque and shrimp po boy sandwich is such a great deal. Gigantic portions- the times I've eaten here, I've always left the place in a food coma. Service is a little laidback...wish they have a little sense of urgency when I don't have the time to lounge around and need to get back to the office. This place gets busy during peak lunch & dinner hours so sometimes you'll have to park further away and wait for a table, despite the large size of the dining room. Pappadeaux and Pappasito's is across the parking lot from each other so you have double the crowds.

Delicious. I got some kind of salmon special and it was quite tasty. For most of the dishes I saw brought out, the portions were humongous. However, for the special, I thought the portion was on the small side for the price. The outside of the restaurant was beautiful and and the interior was well kept. I will definitely be back next time I am in the Atlanta area!

Swamp thing cocktail, yes. Catfish opelousa, OMG..yes. Sweet potato pecan pie, OMG! Great food; great service; great atmosphere! Bowl of gumbo was good and everything was large portions. From LA and told this was a must. Needless to say, I owe my friend a debt of gratitude. Would make this a stop if I'm within 100 miles of THE ATL!

It don't get any better than this spot. When I joined Yelp, I was going to be stingy giving out 5 stars!. This place deserves it though and here's why: Location - well for me personally, I don't have to drive far to eat this so if you not close to Marietta or Gwinett (sucks for you) Food - this place is all about portions! Portions, portions! Portions! I love seafood, I love cajun, I love portions and it's like a triple threat when it comes to this. There hasn't been an item on this menu that I have not approved of. Sh*t, I still can't get off the Pappadeaux Platter, definitely nice for late night snacks to the fridge as a doggie bag. Appetizers - Frog legs and gater bites all day. My father loves these appetizers and when he visits town, I can read his mind and already know that he wants to make a run to Pappadeaux for those Frog legs and a Category 5 (drink) Service - Pretty good. Not great but it doesn't suck. You will be waiting a while if its on a Saturday or Sunday. That's just how they do. They get a lot of business so either come early, come late or prepare to wait! Grade: A+ (if you are a seafood fan, fan of portions and fan of cajun)

I'm not a seafood guy... so I went for the chicken boobies. Damn. The only chicken breast that's even come close to this place is Charley's Steakhouse in Florida. Mashed potatoes are no slouch either. Sweetwater IPA on tap. The bread pudding was: H E L L O ..the whole table smelled of its bourbon.. Everyone with me was loving their meal. Didn't exactly win the server lottery but it wasn't horrible.

My wife and I went there for our Anniversary yesterday. The staff was great and very helpful, especially our server. The atmosphere was nice. The food was outstanding and well worth the money. We will definitely be going back. By the way don't forget to bring your appetite, you're going to need it.

I frequently consider a move back to Georgia just for Pappadeaux. We have found many recipes that mimic my faves here but have not found any as good. I've never had bad service and I've been a fan for about twelve years. There's a reason my family once waited for three hours in the bar here. Everything has always been delicious and fresh. My faves are the seafood fondue, the crawfish etouffee, soft shell crab, and catfish opelousa. I think I spelled some of that right. I come here whenever I can, even if I'm just in Atlanta for the day and it costs me a $30 cab ride to get here. It's worth it.

The Tilapia Orleans with spaghetti squash is freaking amazing. I crave it. Service tends to be a little slow during lunch, but still attentive-ish.

Erm...where did the 4 star rating for this place come from? I was in the area and yelped best seafood and this place came up. I thought I'd kinda heard of this place and that it was a chain but decided to trust yelp (you've steered me well in the past). I should have backed on up outta there when the wait at 4pm on a Saturday was 30 minutes and the place was thick with large parties waiting for tables. My GF and I got lucky and found a seat at the bar. We ordered Arnold Palmer's (don't judge). I wasn't impressed. I'd never had one and my friend said it wasn't actually good. Ok so food...I ordered the buffalo tomato salad & swapped the blue cheese for goats cheese. Very nicely seasoned with a light dressing. The rest of our order got completely screwed up. I know it was loud in there and yes I have an accent (all be it a British one) but how did a request for a seafood platter (which by the way comes with fries) and blackened crab (I said I didn't want anything with it) turn into 2 huge plates of fries, one with the blackened grab and no seafood platter in sight. Instead of our bar tender saying "hey I messed up & didn't put your whole order in, do guys still want it?" the manger just put the order in on the sly to cover the bartender. So we sat there munching on fries for 20 mins. The fries were really good. crisp on the outside, soft inside, and not over seasoned. When the platter came out the tilapia was so dry it was hard to swallow...seriously. I don't believe in drowning my seafood in sauces (tartar or cocktail) as the food should be able to stand alone. However even tartar sauce couldn't save the fish. The rest of the platter was mainly a miss. When the manager came over again we told him the fish was dry. He could tell & asked if we wanted another order of fish. By then we were done and ready to leave. We never gave any attitude about the FU (thats not how i roll) and still gave the bartender a generous tip (mainly b'cos the manager was actually really cool and comp'd the platter and removed the extra order of fries). We both agreed that it was a total waste of money and we'd never go back. Sorry yelp but you didn't do me right this time.

Wow.. What a meal! Decided to give Pappadeaux's after hearing such good reviews from some co-workers. It certainly lived up to the hype. We know how busy this place gets so we went early on a Friday night to beat the rush. Decor is very nice.. Noise level is higher than we generally enjoy but the food more than makes up for it. Our server was very attentive and knowledgable of the menu. On to the food.. We each started with the lobster bisque. Creamy, not salty, a nice amount of sweet lobster meat and a hint of sherry and spice. Delicious! We shared an appetizer sampler of crawfish and shrimp fondeux, alligator bites and hot smoked salmon. The alligator though very tender and tasty were a bit bready for my liking. The fondeux is Amazing!!!!! Chunks of crawfish and shrimp in a deliciously cheesy sauce with garlic bread for dipping. The hot smoked salmon also is delicious, perfectly cooked with a nice dijon mustard sauce. For an entree we shared the red fish ponchatrain.. Omg my mouth is watering just thinking about. A giant filet of tender, sweet perfectly seared red fish with giant chunks of sweet as can be lump crab meat, tender jumbo shrimp in a lemon wine sauce with a side of dirty rice. Awesome!!! The prices are generally kind of steep but the portions are very generous and the quality is top notch. I would highly recommend this restaurant to anyone

I have heard rants and raves about this place every time we are in the area. I missed my chance two years ago, but made it just his past year. WOW. Parking was simple, the wait was nonexistant, and man... It was sooo damn good. The waiter we had was nothing short of phenomenal. We asked him what he recommended for us out-of-towners and instead of trying to sell us the most opulent meal, he probed us for what we liked, what we were allergic to, i mean wow... I was so impressed with the manners. When we ordered, we definitely pushed the bill, i was with three friends and we each ordered an appetizer, main course, and dessert. I was stuffed beyond belief and before i could even ask for the check, the waiter boxed our food and even gave me a top to the mason jar full of banana pudding. I was so stoked. I will definitely go here again.

Dinner with my husband was more than enjoyable at Pappadeaux. Oneill served us well and was tipped appropriately...makes me want to get a job there considering what 15% of our check equaled! We ate, and ate, and still took food home. I highly recommend the trio appetizer that included calamari, gator, and some yummy shrimp/mushroom/spinach in a cheese sauce served with toast. My husband ordered Sweetwater 420 that is served on tap there. This brew comes straight from the Atl, and he loves it! We waited a ridiculous amount of time for his beer because they had to change out the keg. My dog could have changed it out faster... He did get his 420 on the house for the inconvenience. I got the mahi mahi covered in a lobster/scallop/shrimp sauce and the largest loaded baked potato you have ever seen. My husband got shrimp with two inch thick crab cakes on top of them. It wasn't on the menu, but Oneill suggested it immediately when my husband explained what he wanted. The zucchini "ribbons" were quite nasty and had too much of an Italian type dressing on them. We were sitting by a cold window with a wonderful view. Only bad thing was when this group of people walking by stopped to stare at us. I think they thought my husband was LLCool J....had to be the reason... We don't normally have $$$ to spend at a place like this, but this was a celebration dinner. Pappadeaux is definitely first on my list for celebration dinner places! We will be back...that's a promise. :)

Location: On Windy Hill Road in Marietta, not too far from the I-75/I-285 interchange, it was easy for me to locate the restaurant...even though I was an out-of-towner. Large, no-charge, open-air parking lot. Atmosphere: I am assuming that the décor is going for a New Orleans-style casual restaurant: warm earth tone colors, deep, rich-looking wood, a brick patio on the outside where a live band was playing, high ceilings with large ceiling fans (not really to cool the place down, but to provide that "Southern" feeling). Very large restaurant with plenty of seating. Service: For a very busy Sunday evening, service was pretty decent. Our waiter was professional and very funny. Our drinks and food came out in great timing and we did not have to search for him when additional items were needed...except when we needed cocktail sauce and he brought us ketchup...twice. Food: Being a Marylander, I am VERY skeptical of anyone's crab-based dish if the restaurant isn't within 50 miles of Baltimore. With that being said, I opted to order the Shrimp Etouffee. Lots of shrimp was in it and the seasoning was plentiful. I wish it had a little more spice to it and that they provided more white rice with the dish. However, I was thoroughly satisfied with the amount of food for the price. The Beefsteak Tomato Salad was simply delicious! A very large tomato, halved, with crumbled bleu cheese, red onion, and vinaigrette?! How could you not be in heaven with such a refreshingly light salad on a warm Atlanta evening? But, the highlight of the visit was the Crispy Fried Alligator! Yes, I know you're wondering: What the whaaaaa?! Think of it as eating a spicy chicken nugget. It's fresh pieces of alligator that's deep fried in a breading mix and served with a dipping sauce. Very delicious! I'd love to order an order of the alligator and have it on top of a Caesar or house salad! Better than your Red Lobster "seafood".

Great place for lunch or dinner. I have been to this location many times and frequent them while I'm traveling in other states if I come across one. This is a chain, but a darn good chain. The food is great and the bars are huge and always jumping. Most locations have big out door patio seating as well. You do pay more $$$ because of the overhead of these large restaurants and the service can very greatly. But generally I have been satisfied most every time I have went. Suggest the gator appetizers and the blackened chicken pasta or blackened fish for main course. Pros: Pretty good food, big bar with great selections, large roomy feel with out door patio available. Cons: Its a chain (No sense of ownership from the workers as you find in most chains). Can be VERY loud. I don't go out of my way to go here. But when I'm close by I don't mind stopping in.

Food was good. No wait on a Saturday which was huge seeing the parking lot and restaurant was jammed. Alligator was great as well as the mussels. Service was friendly and helpful. I can see myself being a regular at this place if I lived in atlanta.

Too much food on the plate ... and everything's overdone. For instance, I ordered the blackened catfish. The quality of the fish was excellent, the spices used to blacken the fish were superb ... but whatever crap (oyster pieces, shrimp, sauce, etc.) the kitchen used to dress the plate looked like trash and tasted like it came out of a can. I passed on the dirty rice side and asked for broccoli substitution. Clearly frozen and they must have used a full ladle of melted butter on the broccoli. There's no healthy option at this restaurant. Visit if you want to order a fried dish. Again on the overkilling a dish -- I finished my meal with an order of key lime pie. The pecans and cinnamon in the crust overwhelmed the key lime flavor. Still good -- I'm curious whether the large plates and addition of various "flairs" to the core of the plate is to mask ingredients that may be of lower quality. I will remember Pappadeux fondly -- but I don't think I'll ever visit again. P.S. The service staff is great.

Absolutely AMAZING! There was a long wait in a Sunday night but a waiter from the bar came and grabbed us and sat us at an open table! The waiter was nice and did an excellent job! Food (crawfish and Costa Rican Mahi) was delicious! Never heard of Pappadeaux's before but it was wonderful!

This restaurant may have great food and drinks but, they treat their employees like crap. Of course every restaurant has their favorites but this place makes their employees work 9-12 hour shifts without a break and refuses to feed them. Ive heard of money hungry but their have to be laws that require them to allow a person to eat and take a break I mean this is essential to staying alive. Managers I ask you why don't you work 12 hours serving ratchet customers that don't tip and starve yourself?!?

I've been a patron of this location for many, many years. Ironically mostly when I lived in Tennessee and this destination was a favorite special treat. Now that I live here, we haven't been in a while. On this Saturday evening the parking lot was packed, as was the lot next door, so I had to drop off my wife and walk a long way back. Based on the cars I was surprised to find that we were seated within 15 minutes. The food, as always, was great and I had my all-time favorite of Shrimp Brochette which brought back all the great experiences I've had here. On those previous trips I've enjoyed the Crawfish Fondue, the Crawfish (and Shrimp) Etouffee, Calamari, Boudin, Andouille & Seafood Gumbo, fried platter, and some Cajun dishes now no longer on the menu. None have ever disappointed except the Greek Salad. Not that it was bad, but it's very expensive and quite ordinary, so it's a bit of a rip-off, which is unfortunate because we're fans of that dish. The deserts change and were a bit lackluster that evening, but maybe that's because our appetites were too satiated to be tempted.

Nawlins-type, tasty food. I had the salmon and was very satisfied. The service was good, but the wait was out of control. Luckily, I had this hurricane crazy-huge Swamp-thingy drink, so the wait wasn't as bad. Apparently, this place is the place to be on the weekend. If you're planning a trip, PLEASE make a reservation.

Go to the Bar! it's not that far! I dearly love Pappadeaux's menu. But for New Orleans, it is far closer to Creole then Cajun. A little, well a lot too expensive for everyday dining. But the bar! People always forget about the bar, and in most places, they would be forgiven. But the bar is what divides Pappadeaux Creole Fancy from the Pappadeaux Cajun party. The bar apps are magnificent, not too much of anything, but at such a great price you feel compelled to try multiple things. I recommend the frog legs, in season, the raw oysters on the half shell, and the fondeux. The last is a cheese and seafood medley into which you dip crusty french bread. And the drinks are wonderful! Go between 4 and 7 pm for bar specials, which usually mean two to three dollars off their specialties. The Swamp Thing and the Gator Water are fantastic, but then again nothing is rotten in the state of Pappadeaux. The servers are friendly, if a little overwhelmed. The portions are perfect, and the atmosphere is terrific. If you want to sit down on Fat Tuesday, better get there REALLY early or be prepared to stand around for three hours waiting for a seat to open up. It helps, I noted, to bring a few hundred beads to give away. The restaurant is good. The bar is better. The party atmosphere is first rate :)

What can you say about a place which has a sister restaurant next door that serves Mexican. I typically don't enjoy any place that serves enough food to box up before you even start eating. I had the catfish which could have been served without the breading because neither the breading or the fish had any flavor. The place sits what feels like several hundred people so its not a good place to enjoy a romantic conversation. I won't be back here on my own. The only reason I can't give this place one star is I actually enjoyed the Louisiana style bread pudding.

I first went to Pappadeaux in 1999 in Dallas. I never heard of it, did not know what it it was, but after I left the establishment, I was in awe. I ordered a giant seafood platter that I nibbled on for two days. The service was impeccable. My wife and I dined there last night, and "oh what does a decade make." Our waiter brought out our entrees before our appetizer. He did not bring out a saucer to eat our oysters on, so we had to place our crackers on top of the wrapper and slide the oysters on top of the cracker. He wiped the crumbs off the table from the crackers, but he never bothered to bring us saucers. My bill was $81.01, and I placed a $100 bill on top of my table. My waiter all of a sudden became real attentive, and asked me if I needed change. After I said yes, he brought my change back and informed me that he also brought me 99 pennies. "Ba bump, bump." It was a decent meal, but it was not like it use to be. I ordered the same seafood platter, and the only thing I brought back was onion rings. The Hostesses are great, and I even had one escort me to the restroom after I asked her for directions. If you want to go to this Pappadeaux, go when you are deciding between Outback and Red Lobster. Do not go for a special occasion.

Wow, this place has huge portions. I ordered a cup of Andouille and Shrimp Gumbo and Fried Catfish. The Gumbo was flavorful and spicy with the andouille contributing to alot of the flavor. The Fried Catfish was huge. 4 filets is a lot for one person to eat and I could only eat 3/4 of it. The fish was light and flaky with the corn meal crust being delicious as well. Despite it being fried, it did not feel oily or heavy like other fried foods that I've had. The prices were a little higher than $$, and really enter the $$$ range. Be sure to fast for a few days because the portion sizes here are huge.

The Pappadeaux's on Jimmy Carter is where we usually dine. It's always been fine, and the seafood dishes and red beans and rice reminded me of 'home' which was for us pre-Katrina New Orleans. The ratings for the Windy Hill Pappa's Seafood don't mesh with our awful lunch on April 10th. Service was unprofessional from the host and manager down to our waitress who was neglectful if not hostile. WE were spending it up for lunch. Two baked oyster appetisers each. Both were full of sand, not to mention shell. BAD SHUCKING. Hub's cedar planked salmon came gelatinous with ice crystals, proving it had been placed on grill from the frozen state. His asparagus was woody tough. It was difficult to summon the manager. Even after the inedible salmon was instructed to be removed from ticket, the waitress didn't bring a correct ticket and we needed to beg for manager's attention again. The whole Good Friday lunch was BAD! The restaurant was nowhere near full, more like 1/4 full so there was no excuse for the bad service and bad cooking. Pappadeaux's is off my list now. There are better places to eat. I hope I can find other NOLA like restaurants in North ATL.

Love the fun atmosphere! Complete with live band. The place was packed. Started off with a bowl of the Seafood Gumbo which has both shrimp and crab. Totally awesome! Then ordered one of my favorites. Shrimp Etouffee. It was loaded with shrimp and roux sauce just melts in your mouth. Highly recommended this place for the atmosphere and excellent food. If I had more room I would have gone for the Key Lime Pie or the Homade Banana Pudding. Every time I go I'm never been disappointed.

My mom and I ate here as we passed through Atlanta on a road trip to DC. This place was PHENOMENAL in all respects. The food was delicious, high quality, and very reasonably priced for a seafood restaurant. I ordered the Atlantic salmon medium rare, which comes out in a light sauce with scallops and crab meat. I highly recommend trying this dish, one of the best salmon I've ever had. The service here was also top notch. My mom and I had Tyler as a server who couldn't have been more informative, attentive, and friendly. We both agreed that it was some of the best service we've ever had. I'm going back to Atlanta in a couple of weeks and will definitely be going here again.

I just... am not impressed by this place... I've been to the one in cincinnati and the one in Marietta and I went in with an open mind. These guys use way too much oil, butter, cream, fat, etc in everything. I ordered a simple piece of blackened fish with veggies... everything is soaked in butter and cream and no-where does it say that on the menu...my dinner mate ordered the jumbo scallops and the sausage & seafood gumbo and he said they were both very good but later he got sick, not good. Two people each with 1 entree & 1 beer, the bill ended up over $70... overpriced. Overall the waiter seemed a bit stuffy as well... I never been to GA before but I am positive there are better restaurants in Marietta for less money.

OMG! LOVE THIS PLACE.... I am SUPER SURPRISED there are NOT more reviews for this place. EVERYTIME I have come it is PACK OUT. Wall to wall peeps. Now if you're in the mood for some AUTHENTIC NOLA cooking then come here and be prepared to WAIT for the most part. They DO NOT take reservations although they should to make it easier because it can get a bit cray-cray in the waiting area, especially when it's raining out, because EVERYONE and there momma tries to cram inside. If it is NOT raining then it is NOT too bad and peeps tend to wait on the NICE patio or bar area. This palce is HUGE and they have a couple banquet areas as well for parties and large group gatherings if you want but they ALSO have several big party tables that will seat up to about 6 or 7 peeps. Something like that. Then they have smaller tables for 4 as well. Service is OUTSTANDING ALL THE TIME! I say outstanding because with the amounts of people that come here you don't get over looked and the wait staff work well together. My glass was always filled and if I want more I just ask. If you're not satisfied with something they work to make you happy within reason. I ALWAYS see peeps bring in their own cakes or desserts to celebrate with and you can ask for plates and forks to eat with without any issues. I've even seen then offer to cut the cake for you in the back and put in on plates. Not sure if there is a charge for this but they can do it. Now for the FOOD...AHHHH-MAZING! This last time was Christmas and so my family and I were all together and we ordered enough food for an army! We all got to sit together at a big long table which was PERFECT! If your have older peeps in your party then you be happy to know that 62 and over peeps can order off the lunch menu and get the lunch prices. It's the same menu as dinner just the prices are cheaper so keep that in mind if you want to save some money. Their ankle biter menu is pretty good to but sorry I didn't see any burgers but they do have fries, different types of seafood like fish and shrimp, chicken tenders, mac and cheese, and such that appeal to the crumb-snatchers. For the adults the sky is the limit. Drinks both non-alcoholic and alcoholic flow. Be wear that they do charge for refills. Something like $0.50 or $0.75 cents. This is DON'T LIKE especially since a non-alcoholic drink cost upward of $3.75. It's RIDIC that they would charge for refills. The FOOD is GREAT! EVERY IS GREAT! Being we were a large party we ordered a variety of foods so it was great to taste everything. First we got appetizers which consisted of a few orders of the traditional oysters on the half shell, and the oysters Papadeaux which is oysters with crabmeat and hollandaise, some fries and fried frog legs (ribbit), fried gator, and crab cakes. You'd think we be full off just that alone and we were but that did not stop us. EVERYTHING was FAN-TAB-ULOUS! For dinner we ordered Caesar salad with GI-NORMOUS shrimp, some fried shrimp and fried oysters, crawfish dinner, crawfish etouffee, fried crawfish with dirty rice, the Papadeaux platter, shrimp and grits with andouille sausage, shrimp etouffee, and I think someone ordered lobster and gumbo. DELISH! PREFECTLY SEASONED, HUGE PROTIONS so much so I had left overs and so did everyone else. Then we had the NERVE to order DESSERT! But we just got a couple of the SUPERB Key-lime pies, praline cheesecake, praline bread pudding soufflé. I'm NOT a bread pudding person but people seem to LOVE IT! Their dessert tray is mouthwatering so DON'T ask for it UNLESS you plan to order off of it because it is hard to SAY NO TO once you see it! As always everything was EXCEPTIONAL! I wish one would open in SoCal so I don't have to wait to eat here when I visit the south. This is how REAL SOUTHERN COOKIN is done if it ain't by one of my family members. HANDS DOWN ZZZ-BEST!

Pappadeaux was recommended by aunt who lives in Alabama, so while I was visiting Atlanta she informed me that there was one there, so I decided to go their to eat. Very impressed - the FOOD was excellent fresh seafood. I had the Oyster Duo (Apetitzer) and Jumbo Shrimp and Scallops (Meal), and the Strawberry/Lemonade Drink. I loved it all. Which I was there longer visiting - I would have gone back to try the MadiGras Pasta and Swamp Alcohol Drink - which was highly recommended from others. A Very Busy Resturant - You need to go earlier in the day. We went on a Sunday afternoon - around 12pm. We beat the Church Crowd - LOL!! Overall Satisified. Need one here in CALIFORNIA - Hint, Hint

I had the WORST experience this evening. The food was great, but the service was extremely poor. I have been dining at Pappadeaux's for well over 10 years, and went there tonight to celebrate my 40th birthday. Couldn't have been a worse choice. I began by ordering a beer but then I stepped out to take a phone call. When I returned a few minutes later, not only did everyone have their beverage, but the waiter was coming back for refills. Still no beer. About 10 minutes later he informs me that they are out of the beer I preferred and takes my order for an alternative. Returns about 10 minutes later. I could have had 2 at this point. Orders arrive - but very disjointed. My 7 year old, was the last to receive his plate and should have been one of the first. This was about 15 minutes after the first plates were served. I received my plate about 5 minutes after the initial drop, and the other half of my order about 10 minutes after the first half. The waiter was making a salad for one of our guest at the table, and ran off in the middle of the process to grab the rest of the orders. I believe he realized he had forgotten that a third of the table still did not have a dish, while the other two-thirds were almost finished. Fortunately, a manager dropped by, recognized the lackluster service and allowed me to voice my opinion about the appalling service. She understood and was gracious to address the issue. The waiter finally returned with everyone else's order - and eventually finished preparing the salad. The manager returned with a gift card and said she would take half off the ticket. I was surprised and thought it was a generous gesture. But, the waiter did not get that right either. We split the bill 3 ways amongst our party of 9 - and only one person was the recipient of the offer. Too, he did not get the tickets out all at once - and nor did he collect them at once. I gave my gift card to my friends as I did not want to have any reason to return - EVER!!! Spare yourself the headache and go elsewhere.

For the money, I expected better. It was alright.... I should know by now when I ask for grilled rather than fried I also need to ask to lay off the black pepper. Just don't like it, and it is sprinkled heavily on everything, killing the subtle flavors below... sigh... We had the seafood sampler platter (gulf shrimp, tilapia, and crawfish), and a side of baked crab mac and cheese. The platter was okay... the mac and cheese, well, again, for $13 was okay but nothing to scream about. The beer list was really sad. They need to step up here, really. Too many American tasteless swill "beers" and hardly any serious craft choices. I ordered a Sweetwater 420 and they served it in a frosted glass.... no, no, no, no! Don't do that. Too cold and you don't get the full flavor coming through. Service was excellent, and the atmosphere pleasant enough. We were taken with the outdoor area, both the patio with the lovely brick gardens, and along the back, the water shoot, gardens and pond. There didn't seem to be any service out there when we visited, which was lunchtime on a Friday. The music was not overly loud but strange.... Double Dutch Bus and Shake Your Groove Thing... It was more like staff party music than something in the background to dine to. We may give it another try sometime. Or maybe not.

If you like spicy fried seafood, then this is the best place to go. I like their fried shrimp. Their servings are huge and more than I can eat. I order the baked potato instead of french fries, because it's just too much fried food at once. But I know people that love their fries. This restaurant is as good as the Original Pappadeaux from Houston, TX as well as their restaurant in San Antonio, TX. The Gumbo is good, but not great. That's only because I've had homemade Gumbo prepared by a cook from Louisiana. Blackened Redfish is also good. Houston has Oyster Poorboys. I can't remember if it's on this menu but those are pretty good if you like Poorboys. Go there for dinner. It's too much food for lunch...

Georgia!! Pappadeaux is by far one of the best southern restaurants I've dined at in a while!! Fantastic service and the food is amazing and flavorful!!! Our waitress Shareena was very informative and I sincerely appreciate her! I ordered the ever so popular Swampthing cocktail and it was phenomenal! I ordered the sampler which included alligator (yes alligator), shrimp & crawfish fondue, and salmon. I also ordered the soft-shell crab and it as to die for!!! I wish the west coast had delicious soul food chains like Pappadeaux's I will definitely be back!!!

Love this place! I ordered shrimp and crawfish egg rolls, crab cakes, catfish and shrimp platter. All great options. The waitress made me a virgin drink which was great as well. The food came out back to back. We barely had time to finish.

We were in the mood for seafood in Atlanta and a search on Yelp turned up this unlikely but highly rated restaurant. Cajun food in my experience doesn't travel well very far from New Orleans and in a chain restaurant, at that. Boy was I wrong! Arriving late on a Wednesday night about 8:30, we had a wait of about 30 minutes. When we were shown to our table, the restaurant was packed. The noise level is pretty high and conversation is rather difficult. The food, however, is amazing. We started with the Oysters Pappadeaux. We've eaten in the finest restaurants in New Orleans and never had baked oysters in any style of preparation done finer than these. The sausage and seafood gumbo was outstanding. The Pappas Greek salad is a real treat. The Tilapia Lafayette was done to perfection. My son requested it blackened and was delighted to find it done in the style and with blackening spice true to Paul Prudhomme's original blend of spices. Blackening as a preparation has come to mean many things to many people, but to our taste you'll never improve on the original. This is an expensive restaurant. Fortunately, the food and service are exceptional and fully live up to the prices. A welcome budget concession for seniors is the ability to order off the luncheon menu at dinner. Everyone in our group agreed we would be returning, sooner rather than later.

It's off: the average price on lunch menu items is $15. This is not even remotely ever an inexpensive meal. Even a fried shrimp and french fry plate is almost $20. On the lunch menu. For that price, the place should be spotless, food delicious and service should be on point. None of those we're present with our experience. The server pre bused our table after our appetizer and put everything on a tray which was left next to our table for lost of our meal. Other people added to it so we had smelly used plates on a tray right next to us well into our meal. I had to ask our server for a refill after almost 20 minutes and she did keep up with refills after that but never took the dirty glasses off our table. My husbands food tasted wrong and the server was told but no replacement was offered or even apologies made. It's was a frustrating and expensive lunch.

Came here for New Years Day dinner and oh my what a restaurant. Our table was close to the live music. The seafood is fresh fresh fresh. I got the sampler that had everything on it. Literally one of those situations where I ate until my pant button popped off. Love the atmosphere and service at this location!!

Very attractive establi s hment. The atmosphere reminds you of N'oleans. The food and service was excellent with the exception of the gumbo and bloody mary. .I had to send it back because it the roux was to watery/soupy. It had plenty of ingredients c with the exception of blue crab. The menu had b plenty to choose from. We had King Crab, Catfish, alligator, crab dip. They bring a desert tray with a variety of deserts after you est. The banana pudding comes in a jar that you can keep. Overall great place to dine.

I really enjoyed the food, it is as good as everyone said. The prices were high but I guess that's to be expected when they make all their food fresh and from scratch (I believe I was told it's from scratch) When we arrived we were seated right away, I'm not sure if it's because we decided to eat outdoors or not. The outdoor area is really nice and the weather was beautiful tonight. The service was great and the food took no time to come out.

I love good customer service. My mom was quite disappointed with the service on her last visit but management did the right thing and reached out to make amends after becoming aware of the situation. Kudos!!! To be honest I hated to take this delightful chain off my "list". Pappadeux was always at the top for a place to get great food, great service, generous portions and a fun atmosphere. Speaking of.... This chilly weather has me in the mood for a cup of gumbo, some crab fingers, dirty rice....

Awesome food. I've had several dishes here but I recommend the pan seared tilapia with crabmeat and risotto. It is absolutely phenomenal, but it isn't cheap nor is it on the lunch menu. It's worth every penny, though. Swamp Thang is my drink of pleasure; the Texas Rose is also really good. Finish it all off with their excellent ass key lime pie or the equally amazing praline cheesecake. Pappa's is always packed regardless of the time or day of the week. I'm usually able to get bar seating fairly easily. One suggestion would be to add closed captioning to the TVs, and turn the music UP.

This place is amazing. This restaurant is always busy and for a good reason. The food is delish! Everything, I mean EVERYTHING is scrumptious. Nice atmosphere and there is live music on the weekends. Dress is casual or you can dress up if you'd like. Whatever tickles your fancy. LOL Get the oyster duo for starters and the swamp thing to drink. I swear those oysters will have you feening for more and you'll want to return and get it every time! I love their seasonal lobster bucket. The broth is to die for. Not sure what they put in there but I was hooked at first order. The service is remarkable and the menu selection has something for everyone. The portion size are nice. Some of the items are a little bit on the pricey side, but I will pay for good quality food no matter the price. I will return again and again!

I absolutely love this place! The energy, as soon as you walk in, is filled with good vibes! I ordered an alcoholic lemonade to start, it was refreshing and strong. I then proceeded to order an array of things - crab spinach dip, fried oysters, Mardi Gras pasta..everything was seasoned perfectly and served well. The waiter I had was friendly and patient and knew the menu well. I also liked the live seafood displayed in the restaurant and the way they use your cell to contact you when your table is ready! Very convenient and efficient. I have to go back for the buffet brunch - I'm looking forward to that!

Living in NYC, you could say I've just about tried it all......except for Cajun food. I was totally skeptical at first, and had no idea what to expect. Upon arriving, the interior is relaxing and gorgeous. You can get by wearing nice casual clothes, or dress it up a bit if you're feeling inclined. The service was top notch, and everything we ate on the menu was AH-MAZ-ING. I ordered a mixed drink with house made hibiscus syrup (right!?). Followed by the peppercorn crusted tuna ahi appetizer. It was a refreshing way to cleanse the pallet and begin your meal. Next, I had the salmon cooked on a wood plank. Portions are HUGE, and each bite is full of that Cajun flavor. I would also highly recommend the "dirty rice". I have never tasted such developed flavor combinations. Lastly, I ended with the banana creme pudding (huge portion), which is out of this world. It comes in a full sized mason jar, and they give you the lid if you want to take it home. Word of advice: They seem to have trays of desserts sitting out (maybe to tempt you?)...but yes, from the moment I walked in I knew I would be saving room for dessert. You wont regret it!!

As you can see, I have been on a chain restaurant binge of late. This happens when I travel out of town for work. They're just so plentiful and easy when the last thing you want to do is figure out what's for dinner. Anyways, first time at this particular restaurant though a lot of ppl have recommended it to me as something to try when I'm down south. The place was HUGE! I went on a rainy Sunday. No wait. But the place was probably 3/4 full and people kept on coming. And that surprised me. Because my dinner of 2 entrees + 1 appetizer + 1 soup and 2 drinks (1 cocktail, 1 wine) came out to $120 including tax and tip. That is not cheap.....at all! Food is flavorful and I did enjoy my crawfish and shrimp etouffee over rice very much. (Not on the menu, but the waitress said they can do 1/2 1/2 which is a nice option). PLENTIFUL food portions. My goodness. If I hadn't been out of town for work, I'd definitely have bagged it for leftovers the next day (which seemed to be a common sight, I saw to go bags everywhere). I'll definitely go back but will have to moderate the order to consider the ginormous portion sizings. I want to try to fried soft shell crabs next time. Food is above average and pretty tasty as my first foray into creole cuisine. But the price tag! Who says we're in a recession....! The lines waiting at Pappadeaux for $30 entrees clearly suggest that ppl will pay. For good food.

Awesome...good service and consistently great food. I had the Chilean Sea Bass with the spinach and the sauce on top with shrimp and lump crab meat. I usually go with the naked menu items but decided to splurge. Wow, was it ever worth it!Others at the table had King Crab Legs (so big they hung off the large plate they were on), shrimp and fries order was tasty and the rib eye was prepared well enough for a picky eater to enjoy. Even though it is a small chain....all the food is prepared well and the same in Atlanta, Austin and Phoenix..... Highly recommended. Minus one star because of the extremely long time to wait for a table for Saturday night dinner..tip..go early or not on the weekends and you should have a regular wait...

We had an amazing experience tonight at Pappadeaux! Party of seven, celebrating my husband and mother in laws birthdays, our experience couldn't have been better!!! Luckily on a busy Sunday with a large group we didn't even wait 2 minutes to be seated. Stephanie was awesome, anticipating every need before we asked for it. Our food was perfect [cheese sticks; children's chicken tenders; catfish and shrimp combo; shrimp dinner; pappadeaux platter; chicken and shrimp combo; pecan/sweet potato pie; && bread pudding], the drinks were strong and we enjoyed everything about dinner at Pappadeaux. 4 of the 7 of us were visiting from Michigan and we are sad to have to leave this restaurant down in the south. You are missing out if you've never had dinner here. You won't be disappointed!!!!!

On a business trip with my bosses and was recommended this place. Busy for a Monday night, but there was no wait for a table for 3. Finding parking actually took longer than us getting the seats. *Texas Oysters - $10 special for a dozen. DELICIOUS! Especially with the sauces (cocktail, horseradish, ponzu). Had to request tobasco which took awhile, but I didn't need it. * Mississippi Catfish Opelousas - The portions were GENEROUS. Dirty rice wasn't special and unfortunately, my catfish seemed overcooked and previously frozen? It was slightly cold and pretty firm. The deep fried shrimp seemed to have been sitting out for awhile. BUT the oyster and (little) crab bits were obviously fresh and that lemon garlic sauce! yum yum. *Peach Bellini - standard drink. *Creme brulee - pretty standard as well. Wait staff did suck (boss man tried to order a glass of Zin, but they were out? took awhile to tell us), but the manager would come by and apologize and gave us something on the house. So overall, a great place for dinner and busy ambiance. Kind of expensive, but generous portions. Expect service to take awhile.

When all else fails, go to Pappadeaux for a decent meal that will always be the same regardless of the location. Had dinner at this location last night with a group of friends. Everyone was decently happy with their top notch chain restaurant seafood meal. Our only complains was the arugula salad was made on quinoa instead of arugula... totally confusing that later they started calling it the barley salad and folks ended up with a greek salad. Yeah.. If youre confused reading this, so were we! Next up it's cool and terrible that all of the wait staff and managers are young. The good thing is that they were quick to fix mistakes. The bad was that there were so many small service mistakes because they were more focused on doing something. Like water refills in Sprites, or taking away food that we were still working on, or bringing one lemon to an entire table or having no idea was arugula or quinoa or barley was. But nonetheless, he gang got on with a good time.

Ok...came back here to hopefully experience some better service than last time. Things were not looking so promising at first because it took about 30 plus minutes to get our appetizer---however our sever Trey kept checking in with us ..refilling drinks, brought out some bread to the table,...that alone was way better than last time. Once the food came out and it was great and the baked potato was not left out this time. Looking forward to return very soon!!!

It's Pappadeaux's. What can I say? This is what a quality chain should be about- consistent quality, vibe and taste. Basically- that's exactly what you get here. I've never had a bad meal. And it always feels lively in here. It might not be the most gourmet spot but it does a damn good job of serving up mounds of fresh seafood...however you like it. Today was no different- except I was coming off a grueling night shift and it was my mom's birthday. So I was tired but definitely wanted things to go well. Start with our fantastic server Bernard H. who was able to keep close tabs, make friendly and hilarious conversation and still give us time to plan our Thanksgiving dinner. We did most of the planning while wolfing down a platter of delicious crab fingers that were meaty, perfectly fried and well seasoned. Score. Pappadeaux's has fantastic lunch specials. I had half a catfish poboy with a bowl of clam chowder. Okay, the french bread was stale but I was able to eat around that and my chowder had a nice savory kick thanks to a bit of rosemary. Sibling had catfish with the étouffée pistoulette (skip gnawing on that hunk of fried bread, but do eat up the étouffée) and my mom had a delicious and super generous serving of red beans and rice with andouille and grilled shrimp. If I had to minus a star it would be a tendency to be heavy handed with the salt (and I'm an addict!). Desserts look fantastic- and my mom went with the key lime pie. Loved that the crust was thick and graham cracker-y, and I loved the nice assortment of berries and whipped cream on top. Yum!

Softshell crab! Oh yes! That's what I had and it was such a huge portion I had to take half of it to-go. I got the 2 crabs with dirty rice-perfect blend of fried crab and seasoned dirty rice. My date got the stuffed crab and loved it too. Big portions for her as well. She had a side of the spinach. If you love garlic, get this side. Most of their apetizers will be $10+ and meals $20-25+ range, but you get what you pay for. Delicious meals with plentiful portions and quality ingredients. For dessert I had the bread pudding. It came with rum sauce, ice cream and some fruit. I had to share it with my date and we still struggled to finish it. It was so good, I couldn't leave a single bite. Perfect for a date night or just having a drink with friends(like me). Might I add it was a Monday night and the place was packed. We at at the bar which had great seating, friendly bartenders and plenty of room for me to kick back and dine. Their drinks are always great. Range in the $9 + range but well worth it. You don't come to Pappadeuax on a budget, you come to engage your taste buds. They had so many options that I want to try next time. I will have to start one plate at at time.

Well, what can you say? The food here is always delicious the service is usually very good, and the portions are extremely large. I wish they would reduce portions by 25% and reduce the price by 25% I could come more often and not leave as much food on my plate. But, I'm hooked and I come here two or three times a month.

This place is so delicious!!! The oysters were to die for! The dirty rice was really flavorful and good. Definitely will be coming here again. Great atmosphere too.

Come on guys? What do I really need to say here? Papadeaux's is DELICIOUS! From oysters, to drinks, to salmon, to steak, down to the shrimp! Love this place and I can't get enough of it!

Very busy, but the service and food were great! I had oysters with crab meat, spinach, and hollandaise for an appetizer (AMAZEBALLS), then the blackened catfish with oysters, grilled shrimp, & crabmeat in a lemon garlic butter sauce, with dirty rice for dinner (called the Mississippi Catfish Opelousas). I literally had to stop myself from eating! Everything was delicious! The Grand Hennessy cocktail was good too! S/O Zach who was an EXCELLENT server

As a previous employee of 4 years I can barely say anything ill of this company and restaurant. I moved to California 3 years ago and haven't been back until recently - best decision I made on my vacation. I had the lump crab and artichoke dip and the shrimp montage! I enjoyed it so much. There's nothing like flavorful seafood thats filling and comfortable. The ambiance and our server made it even better. Adore that food and place.

Good spot. Will go again. Food was good and generously portioned. A few improvements to get to 5 stars. Ridiculous "tall" beer glass meant for cheezy Mexican places to serve margarita mixes. More like a fish bowl and impractical to drink from. A few issues might have resulted from being a party of 6. Food was not piping hot - perhaps timing of larger party. And the waitress served us well until it went 30 minutes to get the check after all drinks were empty and we were ready to go. Still recommended.

We do not have a Pappadeaux in Portland so when I travel I like to stop in and have a good meal. The service was fast and friendly. The drinks were perfect not too much or too little flavor. On a Friday evening they are pretty packed but the wait was shorter than expected. I have been to others in the GA area and this one I would come back to.

I was visiting from out of town and we had a business lunch there and the service was great and the food was off the charts. I liked my lunch experience so much that I went back again that same day for dinner. Dinner tated amazing but the service was horrible. We had to wait for things for 30 to 45 mins just on refills. And instead of our waitress asking if we wanted dessert we had to ask for it. Then once we ordered dessert it took 30 to 40 mins to get it and it was missing things that came with it like ice cream. We tried to get assistance from another member of the wait staff as he was passing by but he threw up his hands in our faces looked us up and down and kept walking. It was very busy in there but I noticed other tables being handled by other staff moving quickly. So I assumed it was our waitress first time working the dinner shift. We had to ask a young lady that was busing tables to grab our waitress so we could pay her after waiting over 30mins for her to come bcak to collect our credit cards. And i was charged for free refills. It was a bad experience over all. If you go only go during lunch.

I have eaten at this Pappadeaux's location on many occasions. Sure, you may have to wait for a seat, depending on the time that you arrive, but I usually go to the bar and have a drink, or enjoy the entertainment. I have never waited longer than 35 minutes for a table. I love their food, especially the Sautéed Crab Claws with Dirty Rice. Their fried Seafood Platter is delicious too. I have tried the "famous" Swamp Thing beverage, but I think the rum disagrees with my stomach, but everyone really loves it. I love the service, everyone is friendly, prompt, and attentive. It's a large restaurant and seats a lot of people. You get more than your money's worth, and the food is delicious, spicy, and seasoned well. It is the closest that I have had to that "good ole Cajun food in New Orleans" that you can get around here.

Simply remarkable experience!!!!! This was our first visit and I must say that we will definitely be back. The customer service was first class and the food was very flavorful. Our waiter, Derek, took really good care of us from beginning to end. Outstanding!!!!!

This place was awesome! I can't say anything other than that! The service was prompt and the food and drinks were great! We had the Andy & Seafood, Shrimp and & Crawfish fondoo(A+), Oysters, steamed mussels (super large), (large), Redfish Pontchartrain, Pasta Mardi Gras with a Jumbo crab cake. Why can't this place be in the WDC area. This place stays crowded, so you know it's a hidden (not so hidden for some) treasure. If you're in Atlanta you must visit this place, bucket list!

Group of 4 of us ladies went out as a last dinner before flying back to Ohio. Great food. Great drinks. Great desserts. Great prices! Service was awesome! Not to mention we got to watch the Cavs vs ATL basketball game on a great screen. I can't wait to go back!

A little pricy, but the food is FANTASTIC. Well worth the cost. The only downside is how loud and noisy it is, but that doesn't take away from how good it is.

Would have loved to have tried this restaurant tonight with my wife, but we ended up feeling completely unwelcome. When you arrive, they ask for your phone number so they can text you when your table is ready. We gave them our number and were told it would be about 15 minutes. After waiting 30 minutes, we went back in to ask what had happened. At this point, a different hostess informed me that we hadn't made it into the system. She gave us a buzzer to call us up, and we were buzzed in after about 5 minutes. This all would have been just fine, aside from the lack of apologies, and lack of food in my belly - I was willing to chalk that up to "hey, everyone makes mistakes," but then a third hostess sat us, sighing heavily the whole time, and giving my wife a look that amounted to "to hell with you" the whole time she was seating us. I know looks can be mistaken, but this one absolutely could not be. The lack of basic decency, let alone respect was unbelievable, considering the reputation and price tag at this restaurant. Once we sat down I realized that I didn't want to give money to a place that had treated us so poorly, and we left, informing the hostess that we would be going. I may complain to their management, but figured this would be more effective.

Five star! The food was amazing! Our server was very knowledgeable of the menu and friendly. Service was through and prompt. My friends steak was kind of over cooked but was replaced to his liking. I will definitely come back when Im in Atlanta.

As their slogan says: "Good Food, Good...something, Good Lovin or Livin'" I had a few drinks, so I don't remember. Either way, it was a good time and the food/service was excellent. I really appreciate that this southern or creole food was not salty, seasoned perfectly, and my seafood was not over cooked. Maurice, our server was great with the recommendations. Our favorite dishes: the blackened alligator and the fondue. Don't get me wrong, EVERYTHING was delicious and we were well full midway into our entrees. Drinks are basic, but hey-it's a resturant, not a bar.

My fiance brought me here for our anniversary dinner. The wait was about half an hour but the weather was perfect and we waited outside where the band was playing. It added extra ambiance to our celebration and the time went by super fast. The staff was friendly and the food was great. I ordered the jumbo sea scallops and shrimp and a peach mango margarita. Both excellent choices. My fiance ordered the fried seafood platter. I guess it's ok if you like fried food. I would definitely go again.

500TH REVIEW!!! (wow!!!) CHEAPNESS ALERT: ahem, this place is NOT cheap! However, there are many ways around that. LOL!? Firstly, many of their meals here are $20 PLUS. Dig it? PLUS ... sooo.... avoid the appetizers, drinks, desserts, AND split the entree ... why you may ask? cuz IT IS EXPENSIVE and their entrees are HUGE. All in all, one of the best, if not, THE BEST creole seafood experience in a while. You must realize that these summamaberches will soak your food with some spice called "salt" and "butter," but the final product is just amazing! TRIO COMBO APPETIZER: Fried gators, crawfish etoufee, and smoked salmon: DELICIOUS! They manage to make the gators taste just like chicken, the etoufee may require more toast, and the salmon truly represented that smokiness. I can say so much goodness about this platter especially the fact that the etouffee was swimming with crawfish meat and shrimp ... but at $23 for an appetizer, you may feel like a bug zapped in a zapper down in a bayou in Louisiana. I ordered something along the lines of Mahi-mahi alexander something ... I cant remember but that thing was OH MY GOD DELICIOUS!! It came with dirty rice, blackened mahi mahi, and some awesome buttery sauce that came with crawfish meat and it also had some grilled shrimps and huge scallops! OH MY GOD!! Yes, yes, and dear lord, yes!!! give me some more of that PLEASE!!! Then, my friend had a mahi mahi something else! LOL!!! i cant remember the names and they are not on the online menu for me to revisit, but it was pretty much grilled mahi mahi with cheese grits and topped with REAL crab meat and some sauteed green beans!! The taste is more delicate than my plate, but it was also heavenly! For the ultimate yummy goodness, we had the bread pudding for the dessert. Me and bestie split it and it was more than enough at that point. Although, the prices arent for the faint of heart, mind you. The bread pudding was on point, we got two scoops of vanilla ice cream and this bourbon cream sauce that definitely has a kick! I mean, GOOD LORD ALMIGHTY!! THIS THING WAS AWESOME!! My friend had a watermelon something cocktail and for like 10 bucks (or more) I say, you can skip it. There were far too many watermelon BIG chunks in the drink that there was hardly any. All in all, for one app, two entrees, a drink, and a dessert, our full tab came to around $120... YASSSSS - didn't I tell you it was expensive? We got the "small" portions for our entrees, and yet, I had enough to take half of it home. Each item came at close to $25, plus the alkie, plus the drinks, plus the tax, and then the tip... so really, it was over $120 for a full on meal. Again, you can skip the app and the dessert and order a LARGE entree at around $30 and split it and you will STILL have one awesome meal. Customer service was also on point and the atmosphere is lovely as well. Check your pockets then check it out.

There are plenty of reviews that can attest to why this restaurant has 5 stars. Well if there was a 6 star option I would choose it. Great fresh seafood, great customer service. Great cocktails, and they have outdoor seating. I'm sold!! Ps. The crab claws in brown butter sauce were so good that I'm willing to take a road trip to get them. Atlanta is lucky to have Papadeaux's!!

In case you are wondering why my nickname is the inspector of everything, it's because I dig deep not just into my review of the food, but the establishment itself. After talking to our great waiter, I found out that pappa is actually the name of a couple of restaurants. I was surprised to find out that the Cantina right next to it was owned by the same brothers who ran this place! If it is anything like this place I will be visiting it soon. I came here with my manager and one of her clients that we had just closed a deal on. I did not know what to expect, nor had I read any other reviews like I generally do, so no bias here. We came in around 6, which if you are planning on coming here I highly recommend, because when we left at around 8:30 this place was so packed there was a line outside the door. As we were walking to our table there was a line of servers standing there, I think we had just hit the shift change. I was a little irritated by one of the servers who was having a conversation and throwing his arms around because he accidentally hit the client and obstructed my way to the table. Very unprofessional in my opinion, but I did think that the attire that they wore was on point. When we sat I noticed how every server was moving and if they weren't they were standing at their line of duty waiting for their next mission. When seated we were greeted by our server asap. I think phones have become a powerful thing because I was already taking pictures and I think that caused our server to expedite the process of bring us our food. So now onto the food. As an appetizer we started off with the toasted bread and spinach dip. Sweet mother of epic ness, if there was ever an appetizer that I would kill over this would be it. Now they did have a lot of other options that I would have eaten too though, specially the alligator tails, but maybe another time. The only draw back to this appetizer was the amount of bread, but I asked our server if we could get more and lo and behold they have free and infinite French bread. Now I have had French bread before, but this bread, THIS BREAD, was the bomb. It was soft, chewy, and even a little warm. You must try. Now I can not speak of what my manager and her client ate, but it looked good. At the advice of one of the other servers who heard me say that I wanted something really spicy (I mean this is a Creole based restaurant and I am part Creole), she advised me to get the shrimp and grits. Now while it was not overtly spicy, it was so good I would hire someone to make it for me every morning if I had the money. I generally do not like the mixture of tomatoes and okra that are with the shrimp at other places, but something about this was so creamy, and the okra was crunchy just the way I liked it, they killed it. I was not going to go for desert, but ended up getting a scoop of vanilla ice cream. I say this, if that was a scope I am afraid what a bowl would be, IT WAS SO HUGE! Funny thing, being from Tenn. I love mayfield ice cream, but something about this Hagen Daz ice cream was so much better, I blame the powdered sugar they put on it! I also had a specialty drink, I believe it was the henesy. I walked out feeling a little tipsy from one glass! One thing that made me really happy was that the server brought water for everyone. I really hate when you have to ask, water should be a part of every meal in my opinion. The final price was $177, but that is with a $24 tip. With the amount of food and the level of service this place offers I think it was well worth it. Besides the server incident, the only draw back to this place for me was the size of the table. I kept dropping my fork and knife because I really could not find a place to put them without moving something to make room for our enormous plates, but bonus, this place does not just give you big plates to look at, they are full to the brim with food. From what I could tell, this place also host a lot of events, so if you are thinking of planning a wedding after party you would probably be satisfied here. When I am in the area I will definitely go here again. Best Yelp experience of 2015 thus far!

This place has shockingly good seafood and Louisiana style food. I went with my boyfriend and his mother, who are actually from Louisiana, and they even agreed. I got the Étouffée which was amazing and flavorful. I would definitely recommend. My boyfriend and his mother both got crab cakes, which I got to taste, and they were amazing as well. Overall, this place was just amazing. Even our server was nice and knowledgeable.

This restaurant is always a guaranteed hit for food, but the wait is always extremely long. I arrived at 7:10 pm and had to wait 20 minutes just to find a parking spot. Once inside the restaurant, I was told my wait would be an hour and a half, although it looked like there were enough people standing around for a three hour wait. I really wish they would take reservations or at least call ahead seating. The wait is my only complaint about this restaurant. The food is always amazing!! We ordered the spinach dip, but I am a bigger fan of the shrimp and crawfish fondeaux. I also ordered the fried alligator (a must try). For my main course, I had an order of the shrimp montage which are stuffed with crab meat and cheese (not on the menu) and a side of fried oysters! My food was a hit! I give the whole course a 9 out of a 10.

If one comes here one must have the best fish I've ever put in mouth, Red Fish on the half shell....Good goobly goo...this fish just darned good. The sauce was lite and flavorful and the salad was dressed with a lemony vinegrette which set the whole dish off.

Wow, shockingly good seafood served up by a very friendly staff at what was also a shockingly large restaurant. Apparently there are quite a few of these throughout the county, and though I'm not one for chain restaurants, Pappadeaux is a stand out and a gem among the bland and boring franchises we've all been conditioned by. Definitely worth a visit if you're in the area or have one in your home town.

Great Seafood My first experience at Pappadeaux's was in Springdale Ohio on a business trip a couple of years ago. My son and his family live in Marietta and had their first child a year ago and we visited this location on one of our trips prior to his birth. Last week, we were down for his 1st Birthday and Christening and since we had both enjoyed this restaurant before, decided to visit it again for Saturday Dinner. Let me preface my comments by saying that my wife, with the exception of Crab, does not like Seafood. That said, they have a very extensive menu of items other than Seafood so they have all of the bases covered. I started with the Crab Fingers which were introduced to me at that Ohio location. One of my favorites. For my main, I stayed with a Seafood Platter which had ample portions of all of my Seafood favorites cooked just he way I like it. The Oysters and Stuffed Crab are great My wife stayed with her Filet Mignon and with a very large salad was very happy. Service is great and the atmosphere, while a bit dark, is very good. Tables are pushed a bit close for my comfort but other than that, very good atmosphere.

Everything that was on my plate was absolutely wonderful. From the corn mix to the mashed bliss. I had the fried seafood platter and you can taste the freshness. Service great, price was fair and very comfortable seating. Go if you are near one you will become a fan like me.

The app was yummy. We got the trio! To die for. The salmon was delish! The pappadueaux platter was good just not big on fried food. It was very loud in the restaurant, live music and it's dim lit. We had about a 20 min wait to get a table. The food is a little bit on the pricy side.

  • Leo R.

I went there today to celebrate a birthday with 11 people and the hostess had such a bad attitude! She was condescending and would not tell me what the wait time could be unless all of them were present. She was a tall lady with glasses. The hostess should always be pleasant and smile, that is the first impression, it does not matter how good the food is, if you are not treated with respect. We end up leaving to another restaurant. It is sad how one person can ruin the restaurant experience.

So guest services contacted me after my last review and so we decided to give this location a second chance. After crappy service at the bar from Rafael, no service, dirty wine glasses, no acknowledgment, and attitude, we were certain we would NEVER return to this location EVER AGAIN. We addressed our issue with management. It was a very bad start but After we got our table, we did get exceptional service. Joyah (prob spelling it wrong) was amazing, very attentive, great energy, great service!!! Loved her!!! The manager Reynaldo also came by our table a few times to make sure we were having a better time. He definitely went out of his way to make sure we enjoyed our dinner this time, which we did! I was unsure if I'd come back to this location again, but now I can say that we will be coming back. Reynaldo made sure of that! Thanks Papadeaux for hire a great manager and wait staff. With the exception of Carla, we gotta work on the service at the bar .... but this was definitely a huge improvement from last time. And of course the food is always amazing!!!!! Can't give 5 stars yet, but looking forward to doing so next time.... Because now there will actually be a next time thanks to management.

I absolutely love this restaurant. The food is always delicious and fresh served. The drinks are great and really makes you feel NICEEEEE! My new favorite drink is the Swamp Thing and my FAVORITE entrée is ALASKAN CRAB. This place is expensive with the seafood if you are paying for a party but if you are paying for self services it's reasonable. Check it Out!

First I would like to say Will was our server and he was great. The food however was just okay. I had the shrimp and grits (not enough grits) the new lemonade hibiscus and the watermelon both were not great. I also tried the bread pudding and that was very good. Overall it was just okay and maybe not really worth the money. I know several people who love this place so it could be me.

This place has a laid back atmosphere. A wide variety of things on the menu. The staff was very inviting and suggested some great things on the menu. The desert selection is also awesome! The waitress over heard it was my birthday and brought me out a surprise. I really enjoyed the place!

My husband and I love coming here whenever we are in the Atlanta area. Each and every time we go, there is always a long wait to be seated (if you are going on a weekend night) so we go to the bar area to avoid the wait. The wait staff are always pleasant and very helpful. Now, onto the food. My favorite appetizer is the shrimp gumbo. It definitely has an authentic Louisiana taste, and it's very filling. The entre portions are a good size, and we always leave with a doggie bag. My overall experience is wonderful. If you love seafood and a nice atmosphere, give this restaurant a try.

Everyone says "YOU GOTTA GET THE FRIED ALLIGATOR" It tastes like chicken. No my friends it does not. It tastes like alligator and it is pink weird and chewy. I did not ENJOY it. My husband did. And he ate the whole thing. Good for him. I was not a fan. I got the shrimp etoufee and I was not a fan. I know people LOVE this place so I have only been once and was not impressed, but will try it again some day and get some different things and maybe my review will be better. I think for the NOLA style food you should def come here and try it. It was not up MY alley but my husband really liked it.

We always drop in here when visiting Atlanta. I love seafood. This restaurant is huge. The night we dined, they had live music on the patio. The music was great. We heard a little before heading in. The inside is noisy, mainly because the place is so large. It's always crowded, but we never wait. The staff was nice and efficient. The food was great. I had coconut shrimp and lobster bisque. I also had a huge slice of chocolate cake. We all shared it because I couldn't tackle it alone. My only complaint is parking. There's plenty, but you probably have to park a bit farther from the door because of the crowd.

The Pappadeaux experience is always a great one. Fun atmosphere, great food and oversized drinks. My favorite things to order include: -crawfish and shrimp fondeaux -seafood gumbo -fried seafood platter (so much food you will need a take out box) -Texas Redfish Pontchartrain -drink the hurricane (alcoholic) or flavored lemonade I wasn't a fan of the shrimp and grits. Too saucy and the flavor was somewhat off. Overall good experience each time I visit.

This is my favorite restaurant of alllll time. Why? You may ask. They are consistent, you get a lot of bang for your buck.. drinks are surely not watered down, food is fresh... The raw oysters are the best beside Optimus downtown Atlanta. The oysters are plump when steamed.. Must Trys are: Shrimp Montage, Parmesan encrusted trout, seafood gumbo, and seafood platter. Drinks: definitely Dirty Dirty or Category 5. The dirty rice, alligator, and red beans n rice are also awesome. Oh.. something new ... The mussels with French bread and sausage is everything. My favorite servers Tenee' ... Loooooove!

Always a good time at this Pappadeaux's in Marietta. But ALWAYS busy. Tuesday night felt like a Friday with a 45 minute wait at 9pm! Order the shrimp and crawfish Fondue to start. Stellar menu options all around. Fantastic drink selections. Service less than stellar at the bar, but always plenty of enjoyable company and great conversation with perfect strangers.

Excellent food, top notch service and quickly seated, despite the completely full parking lot. Visitors, don't get discouraged by the overflowing parking lot... Once you arrive in the reception area, you are greeted by friendly people who will take your name. I arrived with a party of 5 at 6 pm on a Saturday. We only had to wait 25 minutes, even though we were told a 35 minute wait. Yay! The seafood dishes are excellent! We had fish dishes, fried, blackened and broiled. We enjoyed the gumbo and the Parmesan oysters. All of the food was very tasty!

Great seafood, not a big fan of the cajun seasonings, but just my preference. The food is still good though.

As a woman from Louisiana, I've found this restaurant to be the closest thing to a genuine Cajun style menu. The food is amazing! A bit on the pricey side but well worth every penny. Great environment usually with a good amount of people. My favorite drink is The Swamp Thing. Seafood platter is so good!

Always a wonderful experience. Only thing lacking this trip is the halibut is out of season and my BFF really wanted that since there is not a restaurant near her home. Excellent service by Tabitha. 2 thumbs up!!!

What a great find! I am from out of town, visiting with my family and we have had the worst luck with finding good take out. Tonight we found a great place that we will be sure to visit again. Less than 20 minutes from Buckhead, it is easily accessible from 85. The staff was very friendly. My only negative comment would be calling. I was never able to actually place my to go order by phone, because no one ever actually answered the phone. However, upon entering this beautiful location, I was greeted warmly by the hosts, and the lady who worked Take Out (who didn't answer the phone bc she was on the phone taking orders) was more than helpful with my large order. She also packed my order in a way to keep it simple for me to deliver to the other 3 I was buying for when I got back. We had gumbo, gator bites, oysters and frog legs. Everything had great flavor and was cooked well. The frog legs were really what brought us to Pappadeux. We were not disappointed. Over all we were extremely pleased with our food, the service was excellent and we look forward to eating in the next time we visit Atlanta.

I am posting this review for both Pappasito's Cantina and Pappadeaux Seafood Kitchen, both in Marietta, GA. I ate at the bar at both restaurants because on a Friday and Saturday night the restaurants are overflowing with patrons out to have a great meal and a fun time. So I know the locals know these are great places but I am writing this for newbies to Atlanta, like myself, and for those just visiting. I am from NJ and have eaten at the finest restaurants in NJ, NY and PA and many other places in the Caribbean and in France and without a doubt the Pappasito's Cantina's Filet Mignon Fajitas with Crab Cake Stuffed Shrimp and the Pappadeaux's Seafood Kitchen's Seared Alaskan Halibut with a sweet, soy macadamia nut crust with Jumbo Lump Crab and Roasted Brussel Sprouts were two of the best dishes I have ever eaten in my life. Generous portions, perfectly cooked and prepared and with a taste that is out of this world. You might be shocked at the prices on the menu as these are not "cheap eats" but you will leave with a smile knowing you got every dollars worth for this delicious food. I highly recommend both these restaurants (written 8/29/2015).

Excellent food and service! Looked packed in the parking lot but we were sat as soon as we walked in! We would come back!

I think it's over priced and over rated. All the food was way too salty and i usually prefer salt over sugar but the salt was so powerful that you couldn't enjoy what would've been decent seafood. I have to say our waitress was a sweetheart, not her fault the food was nothing to come back for.

Love this place. The Shrimp Brochette is amazing and by far my favorite. Their oysters are gulf and very well priced for a dozen raw. The service has always been good here and who can ever resist those green mints on the way out.

If I could give this place no stars I would. The food is mediocre, over rated and overpriced. All hype.

I chose to have my sorority chapter's end of the year/chapter anniversary celebration here. We reserved a private room so that we could have a small room and keep our celebration intimate. Domonique Hayes, the event coordinator, handled all of hundred of my questions I fielded to her on a regular basis. She was great. Our servers that night were excellent. They kept the drinks flowing and our water glasses full. We had a pre fixe menu that consisted of their seafood platter, stuffed shrimp, and cedar plank salmon. Everyone enjoyed their choices. Especially when the big slices of cheesecake came out for dessert! Everyone thoroughly enjoyed themselves and our dinner went off without a hitch. They even added in a couple of decorations so it looked festive without us having to do much at all. Thank you so much Pappadeaux. I will be back for more, especially another round of Swamp Things! #Yelp100

We went at about 5:45 on a Tuesday night. The parking lot was full so we parked over by Pappasito's. It was extremely crowded but we were sat very quickly (just 2 of us tonight). Our server was very prompt, thorough and friendly. We ordered an appetizer, coconut shrimp, which came out quickly and was hot and fresh. I was impressed given how extremely busy the restaurant was. Our server's attentiveness continued and he refilled drinks and he checked in to make sure the food that was dropped off tasted good. The downfall of dinner were the entrees. I ordered two crab cakes (only available as an app, and not a meal so does not come with side salad or fries) and my dining companion ordered shrimp creole with white rice (instead of cheese grits). The crab cakes were tasteless and were breaded and fried- not the traditional fresh looking lump style crab cakes. My dining partner enjoyed the shrimp creole, but we both agreed neither was worth over $20. Our total ended up being $81 (2 entrees, an app and a coke, with tip). Definitely over priced. Saving grace was exceptional, friendly service and delicious appetizer.

In town for business. Excellent seafood cooked to perfection. Great bar scene with fun atmosphere. Jamal the bartender made for a great experience with perfect martinis and food suggestions. High quality seafood. I will be back.

Love this place. Hunni and I came here too celebrate our anniversary. I had jumbo shrimp wrapped in bacon..omg so good. Simply genius. It came with dirty rice and a lemon butter sauce. A little bit of a wait but it's totally worth it.

This was our second time here while visiting family in the area. Really great ambiance, except it's a bit loud to have a conversation. We had a large round table for our party of 8 and you had to talk very loudly to the person across from you to hear. However it does make it fun and gets you in the mood for the seafood and fun drinks. The food is quite good...my swordfish (a new item) was tasty but a little on the dry side. The seafood fondue appetizer is yummy as well as the crab cakes. Greek salad was just ok, you can order a large size to share and it was decent but not the best. Others at the table had the orecchiette pasta seafood and that sauce was delicious! My son had a huge bowl of gumbo and he ate every last drop. Nice and spicy! They were very helpful with my husbands shellfish allergy, they made sure a few times who had the allergy and took care to make sure his fish was not cooked with any, etc. Overall a fun and yummy night out!

Came with a party of 22!! Everything from service to entrees were top notch. Our main server Kwabena(Kobe) went above and beyond to make sure we were all taken care of. Tried alligator tails and frog legs for the first, was not disappointed. Had a wonderful time with family and friends celebrating someone close to our hearts. They did a great job making sure we were happy with service. Ask for Kobe!!!

This was my first time here!! It was scrumpdelicious!! I heard so much about this place and everything I heard was true. The food and service was great. We didn't have to wait when we arrived. As soon as we walked in the door we were seated.

  • Angel S.

I'm giving it 2 stars because our hostess was terrible, terrible, terrible. We arrived at 9pm and were told with the worse of attitudes that we probably wouldn't be seated because they were so busy. Mind you they don't close for another 2 hours. She continued to try to persuade us to actually leave. I was astonished. Never in my life have I received such bad customer service. It was my sister's bday so we decided to wait an eat. We only waited 25mins. They were not even that busy! Long story short... I complained to the manager. She apologized and gave us free appetizers for our next visit. If that same person is at the door on my next visit... It won't be nice.

Great place, always a long wait. Love coming here for oysters and gator tail! They usually have a waitress circulating the outdoor waiting space to bring you a drink while you're waiting. It's worth it!

I just visited this location of Pappadeaux Seafood Kitchen on a business trip to the Atlanta area. As per usual, the food was excellent. For the first time I tried the Oysters Pappadeaux -- amazing. I didn't realize I liked oysters. The service was adequate. The reason I'm giving this location three stars is because of the cleanliness. It looked like the dining room, including tables, could use a good scrubbing. The closest Pappadaeaux to me is the Springdale, Ohio location and I'm used to going to a spotless version of this restaurant, so the atmosphere was not as expected at all.

Pretty good food, not as many Cajun dishes as I would have thought and a bit on the pricey side. But worth a visit.

  • Alexander M.

I'd say between this location and the other one on jimmy Carter I've had better experiences at the jimmy Carter location service wise however the food is equally good! The Mississippi Catfish is one of my favorite dishes and the lobster tail both pretty pricey but what can you expect from seafood?!

Arrived hungry and excited to be back at Pappadeaux's after a long hiatus, however, I left underwhelmed. Both the hostess and server were friendly and efficient, the food was an absolute disappointment. I had the 1/2 shrimp po-boy and crawfish bisque lunch combo. My friend ordered a wedge salad and the seafood fondue appetizer. Between the kitchen and server, my friend's salad was delivered wrong the first time, and ended up being delivered correctly after our entrees were brought to the table. The shrimp on my po-boy were lukewarm and the sandwich was literally dripping with sauces - way too much sauce on a po-boy. No joke, there was tartar, cocktail and mayo on the sandwich. Yuck! It was so overdone, that I just decided to pick off the shrimp and eat them alone. The lobster bisque was decent enough. The one redeeming factor was the sweet potato pecan pie we shared for dessert. It was hands-down delicious.

My first visit to GA and to Pappadeaux Seafood Kitchen and WOW!!! The service, atmosphere and especially the food was amazing. The seafood etouffee exceeded my expectations in taste and portion size. I also tried fried gator for the first time and had yumlicious drink to compliment my satisfied belly. This is by far, the best creole food I've ever had and will gladly look up all additional locations when I travel to other southern states. I also discovered there's a full Pappadeaux at the Dallas airport - what? That will be my new preferred connection airport with a long layover.

I just don't get it, for almost every coworkers birthday we go to Pappadeux (Marietta or Norcross). There are so many better restaurants in midtown but we trek (I know it's not that far) here. If it was amazing I'd understand, but it's just not. I'll start with the positive. The service is always good, big parking lot, right off the highway, large menu, lots of seating (great for groups) and clean. However, so much of the menu is fried. They have limited non fish items and the lunch portions are too big (we always leave with boxes). Pasta with chicken and a coke is about $20 before tip. It's pasta and chicken, c'mon. I know I'll be back, I know I'll have the same experience good service with mediocre overpriced food. If it changes I'll update. But as this is a chain I don't see any changes happening in the near future.

It was our first time here and enjoyed every last bite. Came on a Saturday day night and waited an hour to be seated. We started off with the blue point Oysters which was really fresh and all good sized. I ordered the Costa Rican mahi alexander, everthing was cooked perfect especially the scallops they are done to perfection. My wife orders the shrimp and scallop orecchiette pasta. The cream sauce was delicious and again the scallops were prefect. The kids got the kids fried shrimp meal and you could tell their shrimp was hands battered none of that prebattered frozen stuff. Ended the meal with a scope of vanilla ice cream with chocolate syrup for.99. We found a new favorite seafood place.

Where has this gem been hiding?? I'm visiting from Colorado and a friend took me here for lunch. Outstanding shrimp gumbo and the fried shrimp was fantastic. Great atmosphere, a little loud on the music side, and out waiter was outstanding. I've been a cook for a long time and I hate chain restaurants, till I found this place single BEST chain restaurant in America

I have eaten at several Pappadeux and I have never had anything bad here. The food is always good and the service is always on point. It is a little pricey but you get a lot of food for your buck and it is delicious. The wait staff is very friendly and very good at keeping your drink full. I highly recommend this place.

My sister, mother, and I came here one Friday night a couple of weeks ago. I've been here a few times but we decided to go here since my sister never been. The seafood here is not bad and the portions are fairly large, especially their fried platters. I always order the crispy fried alligator. Alligator have a tendency to be really tough but not here, it was just perfectly and the seasoning made it really good. The seafood platter look delicious but way too much fried food for my liking so I ordered the Mississippi catfish Opelousas. The catfish was blackened and topped with oysters, shrimp, and crabmeat over a large pile of dirty rice. It was a bit spicy but nothing I can't handle and I love dirty rice. As far as the atmosphere, if you're interested in spending a quiet family dinner here avoid Friday and Saturday after 5:30 p.m. If you're a single professional or just wanting to hang out with your friends for drinks you're good to go on those nights. We came in at this time and luckily we were seated in a glass enclosed are by the bar. The doors closed out the noise coming from the bar. Bonus, there were televisions in there so my sister and others were viewing the basketball game. Service was good, our server made sure to keep the door close unlike another server and the guy busting tables; they kept leaving the door open. My only thing I really hate about the place. The parking in this place is another reason to go before 5:30 p.m. unless you want to go in circles for ten minutes or more. Besides that, I'll be back again.

I can almost not write this review, I am so stuffed with amazing fried Catfish fillets, huge fried Shrimps and two types of the best Oysters I've had to date. I thought the Catfish I had in Nashville could not be beat, boy was I wrong. This is an awesome seafood place, Lil Flip, a Houston based rapper called it out in a song on David Banners song,"Like a Pimp." You can catch us at Pappadeaux eatin' steak and shrimp. Well, I'm not Lil Flip, nor a rapper, but you coulda caught me at Pappadeaux eaten Oysters and Shrimp! Goofy as he is, he was on point being a fan of this place. youtube.com/watch?v=MKGQ… (3:05) Comical video too, enjoy!

Yes, only 3 stars..... Drew and I had a celebratory dinner at Pappadeaux on Windy Hill last Thursday. I had passed my professional exams that I had been studying for since July. This restaurant is ALIVE. The music was from the 70s and 80s. Our server was on point and upbeat. The patrons seemed to really to be enjoying themselves. After we were immediately seated, we ordered the fried cheese sticks as an appetizer. Drew order the catfish and fries (around $14) and I had the Jumbo Shrimp Brochette ($24.95) and a swamp thing drink. The fried cheese stick were lukewarm when they cam out. Seems like they had been sitting around a little before serving. I really enjoyed every other part of the meal especially the swamp thang drink. The Jumbo Shrimp Brochette is shrimp stuffed with jalapeno pepper wrapped in bacon. This dish is served with dirty rice. The only thing that I would change instead of dirty rice, I would rather have grits or plain rice. The shrimp AND the dirty rice is too much spices on one plate. Drew, however, mentioned that his catfish was bland. Sometimes, I think Drew has no taste buds because of his being in the military for over 20 years, eating MREs (meals ready to eat). I tasted the catfish and sure enough, it needed seasoning. Overall, we had a good dinner. I'll be back for another swamp thing. And, I do want to try their cheesecake.

I'm not too big on seafood, but this place sure makes me love it. Three words: shrimp & crawfish fondue. (those are more like four, if you want to include the "and"). My mouth is salivating just typing these words. And the fondue is served on hot toasted garlic bread. Nothing gets better than that! Except for the sleep that comes shortly after this appetizer. Absolutely delicious. If my pockets were deeper, I would go there everyday! The only thing I don't like is the wait. Unfortunately, this place does not accept reservations, so if you're coming with a large party, it will take a while to be seated. But once you're in there, you'll be glad you waited! And the food tastes just as good the next day, especially the shrimp & crawfish fondue. I warmed it up to have for breakfast and put the garlic bread in the oven, it tasted just as good as when I first ordered it. Best. Breakfast. EVER! :)

Came to this Pappadeaux while on a visit to Atlanta. It was a Saturday and the place absolutely packed to capacity. I was a little irritated because it took about 15 minutes to find a parking spot. Luckily we were able to find a few spots at the bar so our wait wasn't too bad. The food was so tasty! We had the Boudin to start. I ordered the lunch portion of the friend catfish with a loaded baked potato on the side. I must warn you that the portions ate pretty large. My lunch serving came with 3 pieces of catfish so I can only imagine what the dinner serving is like. The service was also on point. Jon was a very attentive server/bartender. Once he left, Jamal picked up where he left off. I would highly recommend this location.

I Love this place!!!!!!!!!!!! The seafood is always fresh, everything that I have tried was delicious. My favorite fried oyster spot thus far. I must say this place is ran exceptionally well. Amazing! Our first time here and I'm in love! Our waitress, Ebony, was very friendly and very knowledgeable about the menu. The food arrived hot and fresh and very delicious. I had the Tilapia Lafayette -excellent. Wayne had the Chilean Sea Bass and as good as mine was his was better! Be sure to save room for dessert! We both had creme brulee - also excellent! The only very minor observation is that it's a little loud, but that works well with the overall atmosphere.

My partner and I came to Pappadeaux Seafood Kitchen last Friday night thanks to a coupon I had for a FREE appetizer! (I LOVE FREE!) This was our 3rd time here and every time has been a 5 star experience! The food, service, and atmosphere here is all GREAT! The crowds at this Pappadeaux are always very lively and dressed to impress! Makes for awesome people watching LOL! It was a 45 minute wait for a table at 8:50pm, which is to be expected here on a Friday night. To start we ordered the Appetizer Trio which comes with fried alligator, fried calamari, and crawfish fondue served with toast. For my drink I ordered a large "Swamp Thing" which was amazing and STRONG! For dinner entrees we ordered the "Pappadeaux Platter" which came with stuffed crab, stuffed shrimp, fried catfish, fried tilapia, fried shrimp, fried crawfish, and french fries. IT WAS A LOT OF FOOD. We also ordered the fried oyster platter. All the food was absolutely INCREDIBLE! For dessert I ordered the bread pudding which is served with a Bourbon sauce on the side and it was delicious, unfortunately though I was only able to consume half of it because I was so stuffed! Pappadeaux is a restaurant to visit on occasion. It's not the healthiest meal and kind of on the pricier side. Sign up for their email club on their website to receive a free appetizer coupon, it will slash up to $16.95 off your bill. I highly recommend this location of Pappadeaux, you won't be disappointed! (Check out my photos!)

The building and atmosphere was really cool! We were greeted by some of the nicest staff of servers I have ever met. Our waiter Anthony was very attentive and made lots of suggestions since it was our first time. We got the Shrimp and Grits and the Pasta Mardi Gras and enjoyed both! The food is kinda expensive but well worth it!! If you are looking for something different- try this place!

I need to start this off by saying that Pappadeaux didn't really have a fair shot with me. In my native City of Chicago there is a restaurant that serves Cajun food that I would lay down in front of a train for. It was literally one of my favorite restaurants. When I came to Pappadeaux, I arrived with high expectations. I felt it was wrong rating them based on that, so please bare with me and my crappy attitude and home sickness. When we came to Pappadeaux I did find this particular location to be very fun and appealing. When you are seated inside, a whole wall is a window looking outside. I love natural light so this was an added perk. It gave a nice impression of dining al fresco without the humidity. I had a taste for some Jambalaya. That was pretty much it. I was upset to see that this is a Cajun restaurant with no Jambalaya on the menu. This was a huge disappointment so I had to ponder over the menu for a little while longer. We asked our server for suggestions for appetizers and he advised us of the Fried Gator. Yeah, Gator. It was actually very good. Believe it or not, tasted like chicken. I decided to settle for Crawfish Etoufee. If I'm not getting my Jambalaya, I want to at least dabble in something that is pretty authentic with rice. I was pleasantly surprised that the Etoufee did not require any hot sauce because it was the right amount of spicy for me. Not to mention the Crawfish was an excellent touch to the meal that I would never be able to try in Chicago. I did notice that a lot of the food on the menu seemed manufactured and lacking in any real Creole influence. A lot of things are wrapped in bacon and fried. Although that sounds delicious, this is not what I expected (again with the crappy attitude). I also heard that the restaurant originated in TX. Whether or not the creator of this chain of restaurants is from the Bayou, I am unsure. My husband embraced it an got the fisherman's platter with fried catfish, crawfish, shrimp, stuffed crab and crab cakes. Now it may be fried, but it was fresh and it was delicious. Every thing we had on the menu was fresh so that made up for the lack of authenticity in my mind. This is what made Pappadeaux a 4 star experience, rather than 3 stars. Fresh seafood is an automatic win in my mind.

I love this place. My boyfriend and I come here often for date night. They have never disappointed me. I usually get the Alaskan crab legs every time I go. My boyfriend gets various misc items and we never had any complaints. I have to say, we sat at the bar the last time we went because it was so busy. We had the pleasure of having Morounfolu take care of us and he was awesome. He's so spirited and all over the place but he is on top of things. Very impressive.

Really expensive and really nice. I don't know how this place only gets two dollar signs, it deserves more. Nothing is a bargain, but I've never had any seafood dish here that I didn't like. This is the kind of place you take your older kids on their birthday.

Excellent service. Our waiter Andy did a great job answering our questions, accommodating changes and making great suggestions. The food was great and, as always, came as large portions. We shared Boudin as an appetizer: sausage stuffed with dirty rice. Delicious! Then shared bowl of Gumbo. It was well balanced and tasted very authentic. Also shared the Chilean Sea Bass. Well worth the hefty price. Ours came Blackened, topped with lobster and a beurre blanc sauce with Garlic Spinach. Overall it was a wonderful meal. We sat outside and listened to the jazz band play. Our waiter was very friendly and a manager even came by to ensure us that they would take all precautions because of an intolerance/allergy. I definitely recommend this place.

Loved the crawfish etouffee... it was delicious. The Swamp Thing tasted primarily like a margarita to me, so i wasn't impressed. I'm giving only 4 stars because the hotess' attitude sucked and I was clear that I did not want to sit outside and after waiting 40 minutes and declining to sit outside, they sat us outside anyway. I didn't complain because I was too hungry to put up a fight. Of course the parking and the wait sucked but it was worth the wait. So said there's no Pappadeaux in LA.

I made a quick beeline here on my way to work--- I couldn't help myself. I had to try the frog legs and satisfy my cravings for that alligator. All we ordered was an appetizer trio?, I believe that was the name of it. $19.99 for salmon, which we replaced with alligator, cheesy shrimp/crawfish fondeaux, garlic bread, frog legs with several dipping sauces including tartar and cocktail. Not sure what the other one was. The highlight of the meal was, you'd best believe, the alligator. Please try it. It's so juicy with the perfect seasoning!!! It was my birthday, once again (free dessert!) , so I ordered the turtle brownie with caramel and ice cream.... meh. Last year, it was better. Not so special this year. Also, the staff was very loud and unprofessional. I don't care if it's mid-day and super busy, remain professional. Don't yell at each other, laugh/scream all super loud, play-fight and stand around in circles gossiping. Where'd the old staff go? Not sure what my waitress's name was but the next time I go, I'll be sure not to get her. She could not have been less interested; she disappeared on us for about 30 minutes and would rush off before we could finish telling her what we wanted. I'm still giving 4 stars though because the kitchen is where the magic happens...

This review is less about the food and more about the SERVICE of this location of Pappadeaux's. I want to THANK and congratulate the manager and his staff for an amazing job. Atlanta is in the midst of a terrible winter snowstorm. My husband, his coworkers and countless other motorists were stuck on Windy Hill and came to Pappadeaux's for some warmth, shelter and food. Not only were they fed, but the manager allowed stranded motorists to stay and sleep in the booths in order to not be stuck in their cars, in below-freezing temperatures. We have always been occasional patrons of this restaurant, but now I can say with confidence that they are on the TOP of our list and we'll be back again for the stellar service...not to mention, delicious food! Well done Pappadeaux's!!!

As most of you know, the food here is pretty good. But, the problem exists with the horrible parking, and 2 1/2 hour wait times! Please, implement a reservation system and stick to it! I do not appreciate wasting my time driving around the parking lot, then standing around for hours on end!!! I don't recommend going on a Friday, Saturday or Sunday.

Oddly one of the best Greek salads in the city. It has an upbeat, New Orleans-inspired atmosphere with a wide variety of really solid (yet slightly overpriced) food. Lots of sugary boat drinks. It attracts a certain clientele, and it can be extremely overcrowded, especially after regular church hours. But for a national chain (Dallas, TX based) that is not close to the water, the seafood here is very high quality.

This was my first visit to Papadeaux. My husband wanted me to experience this restaurant. We have eaten at more expensive restaurants worth every penny we paid. This restaurant was a little disappointing because I ordered Fried Lobster which can be not as tasty if the lobster is not dusted. I experienced it and an glad I know what the experience is but not driven to return like some restaurants. The atmosphere and restaurant decor is very nice. Our waiter was very knowledgeable about the menu which was quite impressive.

I've said it many times. They do Cajun food right. Service is excellent and I always feel as though I've had my money's worth.

Their Chopped Salad is too good. Now I must say that this place is over rated. I usually go during the week for lunch and the service is very slow. I have figured a way to get around the wait time. Order my food TO GO, wait an hour then go pick it up and eat at the bar. You wait an hour to be seated then another 45 mins for the food. I guess in between those times they are fishing for the seafood. I would say this would be a great date spot bc due to the long ass wait time you would get a chance to know one another.

I liked it BUT.... The wait was like for an hour. The service was spotty. The place was SUPER crowded. But the food/drinks were great and I would go back.

The quality of the food is actually very, very good. This is a chain restaurant but the restaurant has expanded very slowly with an eye towards quality - it seems. The service can be a little bit slow but as always you fission enough. The gumbo is as good as any gumbo as I have ever had. Too many times you get gumbo that barely has any quality protein in it. That is not the case here. The Greek salad, while not authentic, is excellent.

Finally got my father to the Pappadeaux in the Atlanta area as he had only been to the one in Dallas that he loved. This visit did not miss on his or my expectations in the least. Thinking I was as seasoned veteran of the establishment server Rochelle Jones was ready to make sure our dining experience was a memorable one. She gave us great recommendations and knowledgeable about the menu. Even added a candle to dad's key lime pie and sung happy birthday. The food was excellent, drinks were tasty and service with a beautiful smile. If you have never been or been countless times it always worth going back for a Pappadeaux experience at this location.

This is literally the only chain restaurant I will gladly eat at. I usually go with a group of people and I always end up ordering: 2 pounds Boiled Crayfish Fried Frog Legs Fresh Oysters Oyster Po Boy and my absolute favorite and I don't even like soups...Lobster Bisque Also once got a 3 pound live lobster for 52, not bad for Atlantic lobster. Stuff is usually fresh and I usually come baked!!

If seafood is your choice of a good meal, this is the place to go. Our first visit for lunch left us with a great impression and we're planning to go there today for din-din. Great food, service and great atmosphere!

This is another one of the places around the office that we seem to frequent relatively often. While it seems that some people absolutely love this place, it's never really been a place that I've been excited to visit. Don't get me wrong, the food here has always been pretty good and the service decent, there's just nothing here that really excites me. I usually end up ordering the chicken linguine picayune or one of their salmon dishes. They are always quite tasty and I never leave hungry. Portions tend to be very large and, in most circumstances, carb heavy. I've never had an issue with the staff here, though the last server I had was a bit much to deal with. Not necessarily in a bad way, but just a tad overbearing. All in all, the place is okay. I'm sure I'll go back, order my salmon and unsweetened tea, and deal with it like I have every other time.

I don't think I've ever had a bad experience here! I came with my sister's wedding party, 30 people or so. We had to wait forever because it was a Friday evening. After about 1 1/2 hour wait we were seated. Almost all in a row. We all enjoyed our meals! I had 1/2 Roasted Chicken with red Potatoes and one of the freshest tasting plate of Spinach that I have had in many many years. I was very impressed with my meal. The manager, whom I'd met outside after a correcting my nephews improper use of the English language, came over to talk to me about my allergy issues. She was so kind and reacted as if she'd known me forever. My family swore I knew her, but I told them that she's just a friendly person and obviously perfect for that job! While we sat outside a hostess came around 4 or 5 times with appetizers offereing them to everyone sitting outside. We also had a visit that was wild in nature from a racoon that decided to join us to see what the heck we were doing! Of course I high tailed it inside until his behind was gone. Wonderful place! And you don't have to get your meal fried. I like this location over the Jimmy Carter location. I had a picture but it was way too dark in this restaurant so it didn't come out bright enough to post. Sorry.

Came here twice during a recent trip to Atlanta. My boyfriend was super excited because he used to eat and work in one in Texas, and the food did not disappoint. He had crawfish etoufee both times and I had the cajun fried chicken tenders. The honey mustard that accompanied had just a bit of a kick, which complemented the tenders perfectly. Our second visit, the waitress was pretty flaky, but we did get a free key lime pie (best.. key lime pie.. ever) after the manager came over to talk with us.

We came here on a Friday evening at 5:30pm and were able to get parking and a table right away, but by the time we left there was a line waiting for tables and people were trolling the parking lot looking for spaces. So, get here early!! The food was great! I had the "skinny salmon" with barley salad and both were excellent!! My husband had the Shrimp Creole, and he said it was almost as good as his Cajun (ex) mother-in-law used to make! It is a large restaurant and has large open rooms, so it was pretty noisy. Definitely a place to visit; but do be prepared for the parking situation.

We were visiting Atlanta for DragonCon and stayed at a hotel nearby. Tried this place for dinner one night and it was fantastic, best seafood we've had in a long time. Our server was great and super friendly and the prices were reasonable considering the quality of the food. Two of us spilt a platter and we were stuffed.

A little disappointed. I was by myself and decided to take myself out to a nice restaurant so I decided on Pappadeux Was seated right away. I ordered the shrimp cocktail for appetizer and mahi mahi blackened with cheese and sausage grits. 15 mins it took to get the appetizer. Finally it came. A little dissatisfied that the shrimp was over cooked. My meal came and was warm. Like it had been sitting under the lamps. I was asked to refill my unsweet tea, only to have it refilled as I was taking my last bite. Very dissatisfied.

I hate big chains, but growing up in Texas we frequented Pappadeauxs and Pappasitos regularly. As an adult i find myself coming back and I'm never disappointed. Last nights wait was a bit insane - 90 mins! We stopped by the bar for drinks and luckily a waiter suggested we take a booth that just opened in his section - score! He was an exceptional waiter, the food proved to still be amazing. I had the crawfish etoufee and my husband has the sea bass. Both were delicious, well made and full of flavor. Again, the only reason I'm holding back from 5 stars was the wait for a table otherwise you won't be disappointed.

My first time here and I must say the food and drinks were great. We ordered the seafood platter and the mango margaritas. You're given very large portions so I took the rest back to the hotel . I was suprised to see so many people out on a Tuesday night. I wish they had one in my hometown NY.

Arrived at lunch time approx12:45 to be informed by hostess there is a 10 to 15 min wait. I ask why no one in front of us plenty if open tables. She responds" no tables". Then she says we can sit on the bar at a small table. It took forever my family git their lunch I got mine approx 25 min later. I had the salad with chicken tenders. This was the worst restaurant ever. The hostess had a mean out down look on their faces from the beginning. Not to mention my 85.00 bill with a bad attitude and waiting forever. No thanks!!!'

A great place for traditional creole food albeit a bit pricy but the best you can get outside of Louisiana. The place is very large and has plenty of seating. Great drink menu too! Appetizers: Gulf Coast Oysters, Fried Alligator Soup: Gumbo Dinner: Crawfish Ettoufe, Seafood Platter, Fish: Gulf Coast Redfish Pontchartrain Their crawfish boils are seasonal but if you come during the right time, you must get it! They have a small lobster tank where you can pick your own lobster too! Come here hungry, leave here happy and satisfied

OK, I love this chain, but this time I was sadly disappointed. My seafood gumbo had unshelled shrimp and SAND in it. (Probable from improperly cleaned shellfish.). I only pray I am not sick tomorrow. My fried crawfish was over cooked and flavorless. Generally disappointed!

Was too salty and the server, knowing that I'm pescetarian, didn't tell me about the rice with ground beef, so a got an stomachache that night.

Excellent food and service. Get there early as this place is always packed on the weekends (From open to close). To all who drink... I recommend the "Swamp Thing" a really good signature drink.

First things first, I would have totally given Pappadeaux 5 stars had it not been for the absolutely horrible service we received just after Christmas. We went for my mother-in-laws birthday dinner. When they brought us our salads, they neglected to bring dressing or any flatware. So we sat there staring at the salads for about 10 minutes before our waiter came back to ask if everything was okay. When our oysters came there were no plates to put them on, that took another ten minutes. We ordered drinks but I did not get mine and so that took until the entrees came out to get. But the food was as expected, absolutely amazing. Lobster bisque, amazing, frog legs, yum, oysters, delicious, and all the various entrees we got were perfectly cooked and enough for two (per entree). Had it not been for the service issue, which was not apologized for, despite our complaints and obvious disappointment, we would have had the perfect experience. It's frustrating when you come for what is going to be a rather pricey dinner, we had 6 people and expected far better service, especially around the holidays, to be so let down.

Okay I guess this is one of those places where your experience depends on the items ordered and the company you keep. Just keep in mind that everything is deep fried and greasy. Exceptionally greasy, holy shit.

This place is on a steady decline. I think that the management is the problem. You get an entirely different feel at the Alpharetta location. They need more experienced people handling the seating, they need to put money back into the business and expand, wait times are too long. I think that they handle the clientele at this location with a "they'll accept it, it doesn't matter" attitude, and I'm afraid that we're proving them right. The cooking staff is handling there side, food is always hot, good, & on point. But the overall experience is what is suffering. I think it will take a decline in patronage to really get there attention, but unfortunately it has this "look at me, I can afford Pappadeauxs" cult thing going. If you're looking for good fried seafood it will do, it's just not anything to write home about anymore, especially at the price.

I held off on writing this review because I didn't have the words to describe the experience. FABULOUS! STUPENDOUS! EXEMPLARY! DELICIOUS! MARVELOUS! Best night I've had in many, many, many years! The jazz band playing on July 6, 2012 was AWESOME (too bad the hostess didn't know their name), the food was off the chain (that means it was very good, Yelpers), our server, ASHA, was the BESTEST EVER-EVER, the drinks (Pappadeaucious and Swamp Thing) were HEAVENLY, and I couldn't have asked for a better "first date" night. Of course, it helps that my date was the prettiest girl in the place- she turned it O-U-T!!

Hands down it's the best seafood restaurant in Cobb County. If I just lived alone I would dine here once a week. I get the seafood platter every time and I fill satisfied every single time. Even the leftovers taste good. Just try to get there early cause some nights the wait is too extreme

  • Lee J.

This is place is great! Every dish we got was top notch. Spring rolls are incredible! A little pricier than I expected from $$ but food was so good I didn't care. Showed up at 7:30 on a Saturday night, wait was 60-90 min but we got a seat at the bar right away and ate there.

Great food. Came here with friends. I'm allergic to many seafoods, and I wish they had more options other than seafood. I did get chicken strips and they were awesome, as was the dirty rice.

My friend and I went to Pappadeaux on a Sunday evening. The place was packed but we were pleasantly surprised at no wait. This was our first time there. Our server Greg asked us how we heard about the restaurant. He promised upfront excellent service and food, which us the reason they don't advertise but rely on word of mouth. His service was excellent. He recommended good entrees and drinks. I had the Lobster Bisque, Mahi Alexander and The Grand Hennessy. My friend had Calamari, Fried Seafood platter and New Orleans punch (not spelled like that). Food was plentiful and the large space and crowd added to the atmosphere. Dress up or casual. I'd definitely recommend a trip back to try other menu items.

There isn't enough I can say. I visited this location with two of my friends, while in Atlanta. . The food was excellent. The service was excellent. They won me over. I definitely eat here again. We ordered the red fish, fried seafood sampler, lobster and seafood pot, mussels, spinach dip and drinks. Everything was well prepared and tasted great!

The crawfish are finally in (little small though) great spices if you never tried them I recommend them over gumbos in Douglasville. I was there for fat Tuesday had a great time place was packed but the staff was on top of thier service game. Drinks are always nice, food fresh and delicious.

The food was amazing!!! I'm visiting my girlfriend in Marietta, she actually lives across the street and all I saw was seafood. We decided to check out the menu online and order in. We walked across to pick up our order and the staff was so friendly. I'm a sucker for smiles and warm personalities. So, we ordered the shrimp and scallop orecchiette pasta with jumbo lump crab and asparagus in a creamy Parmesan vodka sauce. This had to be one of the best pasta dishes I've ever had. We also had the chicken linguine picayune with mushrooms, spinach, and broccolini in garlic evoo sauce and this was delicious. We shared our plates and everything was excellent. I'm here until Sunday and I will be having at least one meal here a day until I leave and head back to NY. Speaking of NY I wish they would open a restaurant there! Can't wait to try some of the other dishes!

So you're just going to feed me amazing seafood dishes, and I'm just supposed to mosey on back to California like it never happened? What about us? Just take these 5 stars and remember me, ok... Listen up folks, this is some of the best dang creole seafood deliciousness. GAWD!!!!!!!!!!!!! Recommendations: Seafood Platter: It is truly a seafood feast, fit for the Gods. The stuffed crab was the highlight of the dish.... yuuuummers Grits: They have cheese and andouille sausage in them. The first time I tasted these I just looked in the bowl and whispered.....I love you. Amazin' Crab Artichoke Dip: Dayum Good. Whew. You know somethin' is delicious when you can't even form full sentences to describe it, just grunts and curse words. Ribeye Steak: A++ Adult Beverage: 'Swamp Thing' It was a party in a glass I tell ya. It was pretty and well proportioned on the spirits. I just got back from ATL, and I'm going through withdrawal from this place, I'm not sure if I'm going to make it. . This place is packed on the weekend, so bring your patience hat if you visit on a sat or sun. Pappadeaux, thank you for making me a better foodie, what we shared was special, and I will cherish it forever.

It's a stuffy restaurant in every way possible. The portions, the atmosphere, and the service is all a little too much. Plus, it gives off a classic chain-style vibe. Unless it was a work function, like this time, I won't be back. Atlanta is chockfull of much better restaurants...

    (2)
  • Steve F.

We went on a packed Sunday night. This could be considered a $$$ rather than a $$ place. Our bill was $60+ without appetizers, desert or alcohol. That said, the food was good, large portion of the crawfish etouffe. The 7 oz salmon was just that.

Fried seafood. Grilled fish. They do these things well. We love the fried alligator. LARGE portions that we never come close to eating. Great flavors, the service is always good, this place is great in my book. It can be a bit loud in here sometimes, so just expect it. Not the place to come for a quiet dinner.

Wonderful place. If you've ever been, then you know what I mean. Highly recommend the alligator tails app. Have never had a dish I didn't like. Beware, it does get crazy on the weekends, but that's to be expected. Parking can get a little mad, but hey, the food's great.

So I know its hard to imagine me writing a review for this place since I'm allergic to fish and shellfish, but that's why I have a better half! This used to be one of my favorite places to go.. Nice wait area that is like a greenhouse. Love to go at night. Its just relaxing. The dining area is nice and dimly lit. Great for a romantic night on the town. A night when you don't mind spending a little more than normal on the tab. I had the steak... Very well cooked.. wonderful seasoning.... Honestly you really cant go wrong With anything at this place. My better half had the lobster. Which was told it was so so unbelievably good. So, I'm going to leave this review short since I can only give it alittle info.

Blackened Shrimp & Crawfish Fondeaux = Fat Fondue. Fat Fondue = tons of cheesey, buttery, gooey, yumminess. I believe it was the best appetizer I've had outside of the calamari at Two Urban Licks. My main dish was a heap of greasy goodness - fried shrimp and fries with some hush puppies. Hot, flavorful...simply delish! Service was great, if a little slow. I think it took us a while to get our appetizer. But the place was packed out, so I expected that. It's also kinda pricey, not a place you go to on the regular for seafood. If I could give it another half star I most definitely would.

First time i went to this place was about 3 years ago and i dont really remember what i ate. Something blackened with dirty rice...lol. Went back with the girls on Tuesday and i got whatever magarita was featured on that flyer in the middle of our table(sorry dont know the name) and it was yummy. As far as food, i got the panbroiled soft shell crab(blackened) over dirty rice. The crab was amazing and i was sad i got only 2 measly crabs. I dont eat gumbo or alligator or frogs or whatever weird stuff they have on their menu and i dont think ill be trying them anytime soon. I did try the banana pudding...i was only able to get a spoonful because my greedy friend practically licked the whole jar. I guess next time i visit, ill be getting the same stuff and maybe beg for another crab even if i have to pay extra. The rice was an ample portion though.

I have been to this place 5 times and each time it gets better and better. The service is always great. I have had a different waiter/waitress every time and each one was knowledgeable of the menu items and knew what combination worked best for a great meal. The servers always check up on you. The food is great. everything I had has been good from alligator to lobster in a pot to seafood platter. The food always comes out hot and fresh. This is the only place I have been to with a party of 9 and was able to sit down in 10 minutes. They have great kids menus also. The whole family enjoyed the place. I love this place.

Shouldn't have eaten here. It's been 5 hours since and we still both feel ill. Ordered sweet tea, seafood gumbo and the pappadeaux fried platter. Sweet tea was good. Not ridiculously sweet. Seafood gumbo was better than Copelands. The fried platter was 60% fries and the rest was 2 pieces of catfish, 2 stuffed crabs, 7 pieces of shrimp and a handful of fried oysters. It arrived late for some reason. The crab wasn't cooked right...maybe that's why we feel sick. It didn't taste right. Bill was 50 bucks including tip. Beautiful location. Very busy. Server was Patrick. He was nice. Not coming back though.

Why haven't I reviewed one of my favorite restaurants ever ever ever?!?!?! I heart Pappadeaux - here's why: -- LARGE portions (its the American glutenous way!) so you always have a meal the next day. -- Pasta Mardi Gras...superb.... -- Oyster Rockefeller....divine... -- Shrimp Fondue....amazing... -- Coconut Shrimp...incredible... -- Fried Alligator...I'm running out of adjectives... -- SWAMP THING...the 8oz will make you feel warm, the 10oz will get ya right! Now, you may see a lot of gripes about the wait. If you go on a weekend, be prepared to wait...take your butt over to the bar and get your Swamp Thing. Once you finally sit down to indulge in creole heaven, you'll forget you waited 2hrs (like we did this past Saturday...every party was a more than 15 ppl!)

  • Sandte S.

Delicious food and great service. They give you large portions and even when you take leftovers home, they still taste really good. Seafood leftovers can be hit or miss but this is definately not one of those places. I had the stuffed crab, it's got this really nice spicy kick to it, definately would suggest. The presentation of the food is nice too. Definately would suggest dinner here.

My favorite restaurant in Atlanta. Great ambiance! I enjoyed the alligator tail. Taste like chicken! The stuff shrimp muscat was flipping amazing. The food is perfectly cooked and seasoned! Good eats!

Best seafood I have had in years. The seafood platter was near perfect. I am a hardy eater and I couldn't eat it all. The fish and shrimp were fresh and hot. The stuffed crab was not the standard frozen item. It was amazing. My wife had the stuffed shrimp and can't stop talking about it. The main floor is huge but the atmosphere was wonderful. The view in the back is delightful. We love this place. It is a must if you like seafood. Didn't have anything else but a couple of excellent drinks.

Was out in the ATL awhile ago visiting fam, man the food is rich out here. Catfish, lobster, shrimp, dirty rice, po-boy sandwiches etc..I made sure I ran a few laps around the hotel after I ate here! lol

  • E K.

I always start with the andouille and seafood gumbo. The dark roux has a rich deep flavor and the sausage is complemented by the pieces of shrimp and oysters and okra. Add a beer and I'm happy. But wait - there's more, much more. Po boys, soft shell crabs, french fries, mashed potatos, steaks, grilled and fried fish entres. These are my favorites, but there are plenty of other dishes. Plus the requisite mega calorie deserts. Service is always first rate. Go early (the place gets packed later in the evening), go often and go hungry.

  • Lisa H.

My husband and I eat here frequently...especially during the winter for the oysters and in the spring for the crawfish boils. We highly recommend asking to be seated in DJ's area if he is working. He is one of the most wonderful servers we have had in any restaurant and we have eaten in many !!! The food is is consistantly awesome !!

Hubs & I had not gone to Pappadeaux for happy hour/half priced appetizers in forever. We decided to go on a Friday. He got there at 5:40 to grab us a seat,I came.shortly after. There were tons of.folks sitting & had no activity, but would not get up. The waiters were not asking if they needed anything else (they did not appear to),and had no bills in front of them. We finally got a seat at 6:35 & were told that happy hour ended at 6:30 instead of 7 as it always had in the past. We paid for the dri.ks we ordered & left. It is almost like they intentionally did not make moves to clear the other folks at.the bar.to push us past the happy hour.time.

Bar staff is marginal. The other patrons were fun and friendly. Enjoyed conversations with several waiting for drinks and our table. Food was good for price. Our server was exceptional (AJay). He saved the bar staff and overall rating to make it to 4 stars!!

Great food. We have eaten at 3 different locations....all are consistently great! The only crawfish etoufee that is better is my recipe....but the etoufee here is very close! The portions are huge and we always leave with a to go box full of leftovers. Come hungry and this place will not disappoint.

I don't think I've ever seen a restaurant where it seems as if everyone is consistently having as much fun and enjoying themselves as much as this Pappadeaux's, which I've been to may 10-12 times over the years. I've been to Pappadeaux's in Texas as well and while not as overwhelmingly crowded, there is the same atmosphere. I admit to being in a rut about what I order. I get a Pappadelicious to drink (usually I'm strictly a beer drinker but this rum concoction is just too good and "rich") and a mixed seafood grill over dirty rice with the signature Pappa's garlic butter. The seafood has occasionally been undercooked but it's such high quality that it survives even that, especially with the mushrooms and butter to set it off. And the dirty rice is guilt food with the leftover butter. I took my g/f and her 2 teenage boys here while on vacation and they said it was the best dinner they've ever had. They went the fried route on catfish and shrimp, not my taste but they raved. And the desserts they had were huge...perfect for the teenage boys.

Great gumbo. Everything else is delish also. I'm a harsh critic and it's hard to impress me but this place did. It's late and I write these reviews once or twice a year -- otherwise, I would go on and on and on. Will say that as I was filling out the survey below, it was kind of odd to check off "intimate" and "touristy" for the same place but that's kind of what it is -- you feel comfortable, relaxed and even cozy because of the creative way that they have everything in sections but make no mistake, this is a HUGE restaurant -- impressive place to take out-of-towners. But, by the same token, we went here for New Year's Eve (forgot to make reservations elsewhere) and it was surprisingly romantic. (Go-figure.) By the way, I recommend this location over the one on Jimmy Carter any day.

I thought the view of the forest and the service were the highlight of the evening. I have loved Pappadeaux's ever since I first had it in Denver last year and this location did not disappoint. The food was as good as I remembered it and the service was fantastic. I had the Seared Sea Bass, which was excellent and my friend had the night's special which was a salmon covered in a seafood medley sauce with some dirty rice. The best part of the evening came when it started to hail and our waitress freaked out. She never had seen hail before and found it so amazing.

Great selection of New Orleans seafood dishes. I had a good shrimp po boy, but I would have preferred not to have fried shrimp...the seafood and sausage gumbo rocked! The atmosphere was great, and the place was doing great business on a friday at lunch. There is a loyal following for this restaurant, which after my first visit I now understand. I will be back for dinner soon.

Solid Cajun seafood dining experience. Arriving in town late in the evening and in need of decent meal before crashing in my hotel room in strip mall suburbia, I stumbled up Pappa's. I didn't realize until late in the game that it was part of a big chain of upscale restaurants by this name and even more in an extended family of restaurants including Mexican, burgers, Greek, steakhouses, and on and on. If I block out the anti-chain food snob in me, I have to say that the food, service and atmosphere worked for me. Dining room is cavernous, but I wasn't hit over the head with any hokey themes or silly scripts servers needed to follow. Many of the folks around me were thoroughly enjoying a Tuesday/Wednesday 1-1/4 lb. steamed crawfish special. This got me into the mood so I went for the crawfish bisque and salmon diablo which is chargrilled salmon topped with crawfish, crabmeat & pico de gallo in a lemon garlic butter sauce with dirty rice. Both dishes were well prepared, fresh and packed with flavor. Some of the recent reviews complain of bad service, but I didn't see any glaring issues. Then again, the situation late on a Wednesday might be totally different from a Friday or weekend.

Love this place. I really enjoy that you can rock in a chair outside while waiting for your table. The staff is friendly and attentive and the food is amazing. I also love that the portions are huge so you really get what you pay for. My favorite? The dirty rice. Actually just writing this review makes me want to pop up to Marietta and get some tonight.... hmmmm..... just go. I would recommend for a nice night out - maybe an anniversary or special occasion.

I've been here a few times and I'm never disappointed. The food is good the service is good. The fondue (appetizer) is very good and could very well be a meal all by itself. The blackened fish with sauce was great and very tasty. This place is a sure winner when you don't have time to gamble on good tasting food. It's not the cheapest place in the city but a sure bet. Enjoy!

Came on a Wed night. Waited 15 mins to get seated. Was seated. Sat there for 30 mins waiting for someone to come and take our order. We didn't even get water. We sat and watched other people get seated, get drinks, order their food. Meanwhile no one served us. So after 20 mins I walked over to a hostess and asked her if she could find someone to come to our table so we could place our order. She said OK. I then saw her walk back to the podium and do nothing. We waited another 5 mins and walked out. I was ready to bitch them out but one of my friends didn't want to create a scene. Now I wish I did. Good thing we picked up one of those customer feedback forms.

Well, I can say that Pappas restaurants take criticism very seriously. I was phoned within one day of my first less than satisfactory visit. The manager, David Young, was very personable and apologetic. He said that my comments were very specific and helpful and more importantly completely justified. He offered to make it right by taking care of a future visit. I was able to make it back for Lunch yesterday 4/17. I walked in at 11:27 am and was greeted immediately by a friendly hostess. The manager was near the front, Alissia (not sure on spelling) and had my server take me to my table outside in the courtyard. The out door seating is BEAUTIFUL, great shading and pretty water features. My server this time was Brittney. She was friendly, efficient and professional. I had my water and lobster bisque (Brittney's recommendation) by 11:31. The lobster bisque is amazing, lots of lobster lumps and the bisque is almost like a queso dip from a good Mexican restaurant, it was spicy and rich. A bowl would probably be a good meal for most people. On Brittney's recommendation I had the Mahi with an Alexandria sauce. It was a white wine sauce with some sort of cheese loaded with crawfish, shrimp and scallops. I love seafood and eat it often and these were probably the best scallops I have ever had. No fishy taste at all, just a nice clean flavor. The dish was amazing and the dirty rice it was served with complemented it nicely. I ate everything, which may have been a mistake. Pappadeaux's lunch portion is larger than most restaurants dinner portion. You get a lot of food for the price. I was completely done by 12:10. I finished my meal with the sweet potato pecan pie. It came with a wonderful vanilla sauce that may have had rum or bourbon in it that complimented the pie very well. Oh my, I might have to see if they can ship these pies to Michigan. It was divine. Now the only thing keeping them from 5 stars on this review was my last visit and the bathrooms while very beautifully built, could use some loving attention. There was an underlying unpleasant smell and in the corners and connection of wall to floor the grout was filthy. The best way to get ride of this filth is a steam cleaning robot, they use to be called Robbies. I bet you could hire out a deep cleaning on your bathroom once a month and it would make a huge difference. Thank you for the gastro-intestinal delights, it is a good thing I do not live closer because I would be much more jolly (insert fat in place of jolly)

The location isn't that convenient for me so it's been a few years since i've been here. I always thought it was pricey. Fried foods are abundant but i was feeling "healthy" so i avoided them this time, but the Pappadeaux platter looked mighty good. Started with a recommendation from the waiter who is a native of New Orleans. He recommended the fried gator, fondue, boudin and one more i can't remember. We got the fondue, cheesy but a little bland for me. Dipping with french bread is a nice touch though. Clam chowder was just ok. I won't get it again. My entree was a blackened catfish. The cream sauce that they put on top was the best part. One person got the etoufee. It was very very good. I think i will have one of those next time. overall, it was pricey and ok. Not gonna make my starting rotation for places to take my friends who are visiting town though, but a nice change of pace. Few cajun choices here in atlanta. 3 adults who were hungry left full with take-home boxes for $115, no alcohol. I was so full it hurt to sit, and then it hurt to stand. Joey Chestnut, how do you do it???

If it's about good seafood in Atlanta, then it's about Pappadeaux. Best seafood recipes in this here young city. Esquisite service and great drinks too! You like drinks right? Simply put, this place is amazing at everything it does from service, to food, to drinks, don't forget that amazing blondie for dessert and the things your girl will do to you after you leave are a whole other discussion. See for yourself- I'm going back soon.

Pappadeux has tasty seafood. The last time I dined, I had the grilled shrimp skewers. Each piece of shrimp was wrapped in spicy, cheddar jack cheese, a basil leaf and then finally bacon. The skewers were grilled to perfection and served over a bed of palate pleasing dirty rice. I enjoyed my meal with a group of 8 and the servers were attentive, timely and helpful. The only downside about Pappadeux is that they will not seat you until your entire party arrives. Great ambiance, great drinks, great seafood, superb service!

Pappadeaux is a smallish Cajun seafood chain based out of Texas: the servers tell you this -- they ask if you've ever dined here, and if not they give you a little spiel. Anyway, I've had mostly positive experiences at Pappadeaux (primarily this location, but also the one in Alpharetta). I've largely stuck with the fried seafood or the Etouffee; I should branch out, but why mess with something that works? In particular, if you want two of everything in the ocean fried and served on a bed of more fries than a person should eat in a week, look no further than the Pappadeaux Platter! For me, the standouts on the platter are their stuffed seafood (shrimp and crab). I've tried a friend's Cajun Fried Chicken Tenderloins, and they'd be fine if you're feeling unadventurous (they're good, but chicken tenders just scream "picky eater" to me). Also, the Crawfish Etouffee and Pasta Mardi Gras were both good the one time I ordered them. After all of that fried seafood, I rarely have room for dessert, but their Sweet Potato Pecan Pie is really awesome, combining the powers of two tasty southern pies. They get very crowded on weekends and the waits are typically 30 minutes or more on Friday and Saturday nights. The service is fine -- when they are busy, your waiter/waitress can be a bit scarce, but nothing bad or good really stands out to me about the service. Over the years, the food has been pretty consistent. One or two times, I've had sub-par food, but the overall track record has been positive. Anyway, I'll come every once and a while for some solid Cajun seafood.

Is your diet limited to to one of a herbivore? Do you hate the smell of fish? Are you dragged to a seafood restaurant by your co-workers? Then you must be someone like myself stuck in this humongous restaurant. Papadeaux Seafood Kitchen is a place for those who love fishy creatures. If you are not one of them, you will not have a good time here. There is maybe one vegetarian plate being offered. However, if you are a wannabe vegetarian, that is to say a pescatarian, you are in luck . Anyway, should you find yourself here, against your will, I suggest the Chinese Salad or something sounding like that. Its huge, feeds three, and does not fill you up as its nothing but carrots and cabbage leaves. If all else fails, stock up on mints on your way out. You'll be hungry, but your breath will smell great!

I have been going to Pappadeaux for over twenty years. Beaumont, Houston Texas and Schaumburg, Illinois. I have never had a worse experience at Pappadeaux as I had at The Marietta location. First, I ordered the oysters on the half shell. I only received eleven oysters. I told my waiter and the manager came over with two more oysters. Second, I ordered the Boudin. I specifically specified that I didn't want the cayenne seasoning on the outside. The proper way to eat boudin is to close your teeth on the boudin and extract the rice dressing with your teeth. You can't do this with cayenne on the outside. Alas, my boudin arrived with cayenne. I waited while this was replaced. Third, I ordered the Pappadeaux Platter. I asked that whatever I could get grilled be grilled instead of fried--fish, shrimp etc. My fish was good but my shrimp was obviously blackened and there was no fried oysters. The stuffed shrimp was over cooked. The manager came over and I was given some grilled shrimp to compensate. There was very few shrimp however. I was amazed. This is a $30.00 platter. Every one of my items was messed up. I never raised hell about any of this. I could not believe that everything I ordered was botched up. The manager should have comped the Pappadeaux Platter because she new what I went through with my meal.

I had oysters today and oysters last Thursday (as that is the only day their $5.95 special is on). They were out of this world. Salty, briney, sweet, and out of this world. Far better than any other year they've offered this deal. Watch the prices of wine....$$$$ I had a Kendall Jackson Chardonnay for $11/glass. You guessed it, only one glass for this lady. The crowd was horrific at noon. I suggest you try 11:45am if you hope to get a parking place, let alone a table.

As far as chain restaurants go, this one is about as good as you're gonna get. The seafood was fresh and the drinks were good. I felt that the price was a little high though.

Seafood...hmmmmm..... just thinking about it makes me feel like I'm in heaven. I like location I mostly order the fried alligator or the jumbo crab cakes from the appetizer. Yummy! This location is always packed to the max so I would suggest trying to go during the week and try and make it early other then that your look to wait 45 mins to an hr before you are seated. For my main dish I love the blacked salmon with the Alexander sauce. You must try adding any of there sauce to your dish its a dash of added flavor. The staff is usually pretty quick to serve really friendly and loves to talk about anything on the menu.

This place is great. Apparently it's a smallish chain with a presence in the South and Southeast but the food tasted darn authentic to me. I had the gumbo as a starter (delish) and the Shrimp Etoufee which was totally excellent. Others in my party had the Crawfish Etoufee (hot but good!) and the Mahi which was also tasty. They have an extensive menu which ought to keep everyone satisfied. The prices were also quite fair with most entrees under $20... all in all, a great meal and a fine experience.

I came here with my girlfriend for dinner twice, and I must say, overall, it's REALLY good. I'm a sucker for a restaurant with a nice atmosphere. If the atmosphere is good, it almost makes me forgive mediocre service. This is the only Pappadeaux I've ever been to so I'm not sure how their locations are usually, but I was very impressed with the atmosphere here! We went during sundown, so the scenery was almost as if I had stepped onto a movie set. Dimn lighting with flame lit lamps and a natural, sturdy wood decor composed the interior. I really like the feel of this place. Now, for the food! We started off with the Appetizer Trio. The portions were HUGE! This is definitely the place to come on those days when your eyes seem to be bigger than your stomach, so definitely pace yourself! I didnt think about it since this was my first visit and I over indulged in the appetizer. lol... The "Fondeaux" has a nice consistancy and is loaded with a good amount of shrimp and crawfish, and the bread they served with it was fresh and toasted nicely. The gator was new for me. I had never had gator until I came here, and it's not bad for an appetizer. You can dip it in the Fondeaux, throw it on the bread, and make your own combos. The food tempts you to get creative with it! The calamari was also good and well cooked. The breading wasnt as crispy as I like it to be, but the little cephalopods were nice and tender and not overcooked. The appetizers portion was so huge that I found myself reaching capacity by the time the main course came to the table, so again, pace yourself! I dont remember the name of the catfish dish I had on my first visit and I dont see it on their online menu, so I wont mention it, but it was pretty good as well. It was a blackoned catfish dish served on a bed of dirty rice. The fish was cooked well, so it too dry or undercooked, and the rice didnt have any hard grains (I hate that!) in the mix. Service was excellent. Our server (if I could remember his name, I would mention him) was attentive to the point where he's taking care of everything that needs to be tended, but not annoying. Drinks were kept full and he visited the table to check if things were good regularly. The manager also greeted us and asked how things were, and I think this is worth mentioning because in my opinion, good management is a huge part of any businesses success. Our server even took a couple photos for us while we were at the table for our facebooks! (what? she likes facebook! haha) Overall, this location specifically, A+ place to go dine. I would give it 4.5 stars if Yelp allowed, so take that for what it's worth. Go check it out!

Everything was delicious. I had alligator bites and red beans/rice. One guy had the best clam chowder he has ever eaten at a restaurant. I got the bread pudding to go. It was full of raisins and the best I have ever had besides my grandmother's. Another excellent Atlanta food experience.

Headed down to pappadeuax for my first dinner in Atlanta and I was pleasantly surprised. I was getting nervous when I felt like we were leaving most of Atlanta but when we turned the corner to the parking lot up loomed this huge building. Walking in your greeted by the friendliest staff I have ever experienced. But its a pleasant friendly. Each hostess chooses to independently greet you and make you feel welcome. I went here on a Friday night and my friend and I were instantly seated. However, we got here pretty early. On the way to the table our hostess made small talk about our day and it might be sad but I was impressed by that. The whole place has a New Orleans feel to it which I enjoyed but was mildly disappointed that its so close to seeming New Orleans rather than Atlanta style. Our waitress was at our table quickly and had our drinks in a blink. She was really knowledgeable in all their specials but so did all the other waiters i'd seen there. My friend and I ordered the cajun style alligator as an appetizer and I truly enjoyed it although its a little spicy. Even the sauce is good. And this was all a good surprise since this was my first time eating alligator. I finally ordered chicken ternderloins because im not a seafood fan. The only complaint I have about the place is that there isnt much of a choice for those of us who arn't seafood fans but we still go to these places to make our sea food loving friends happy. Maybe a pasta dish or less expensive steak would have been appealing. However, the food was great and came quickly. The only other thing I saw was that a woman at a nearby table had her drink replaced at least once and was also brought the wrong food. But the chef served her her dish specifically after that and I thought that it was a great way to make up for their mistake. Besides the woman could have just been picky. Come early for easy seating is the feel I get for this place but other than that you cant go wrong.

I was exposed to Pappadeiux's years back by a former boss/mentor. We would compare notes on great restaurants, and during a trip to Houston for the Black MBA conference. He strongly suggested that I give Pappa's a try. That brother should have never told me that. Since that time I have been a huge fan of the franchise. The cajun style seafood here is delicious, and while I have visited a number of different locales-- atlanta, houston and chi i think, the quality remains the same. I pretty much get the same thing when i go there, so Ill give you a quick run down. a) make sure you start off your meal with a "swamp thing" this is a drink with combination of different liquors that really goes well with the cajun seafood, have two of these you are feeling full and toasty after the meal is complete. b) For appetizers, the calamari works as well as the alligator tail. Both come with a good sauce to compliment. This place was the first place I ever had gator, and I absolutely love when i take ppl here and they refuse to try it...more for me numbskulls...mmm c) For main course I get the Pappadeaux platter which includes- all the fried seafood you could ever want. Hell I think they even fry the damn dish...from fried catfish, to fried oysters, to fried fried scallops, and stuffed crab. They definitely give you more than enough. If this isnt a lb to 2 lbs worth of food...i dont know what is. I dont think I have ever completely finished all this food before...but if I did, Id be an alien. (oh yeah they also do fried crawfish, which is great as well) I will forever be a fan of Pappa's...hopefully you will be too.

Had this place last summer and am finally getting around to reviewing it. I specifically remember 2 things... great beer selection and great food. I shared several appetizers with the group that I was with and all of them were very good. The only thing I remember being not near perfect was the lobster tail I had was slightly overcooked.

  • Jennifer B.

Although I like several of their entrees, my absolute favorite is the Mixed Seafood Grill! Huge juicy chunks of perfectly grilled shrimp, lobster, scallops, mushrooms, red pepper, zucchini, and more! Served over a piping hot mound of delicious dirrrrty rice! The calamari appetizer is average, but the fried crab fingers are YUMMY! Oh and the crab and spinach dip is a tasty choice as well. I NEVER come here on a Friday or Saturday night because the waits are ridiculous...like 2.5 hrs sometimes! A good time to go is during lunchtime...even on a Saturday or Sunday!

Dem folks at Pappadeaux whip up some wooo hoooo good gumbo! I always love my meals here, even though I know I'll hate myself when I leave. To eat good Cajun food means to eat unhealthy 99% of the time but I deal because I enjoy it way too much. The Salmon Yvette is to die for and I can't resist the shrimp and crawfish fondeaux. I have to say, this place isn't perfect. It can be loud. It can be crammed full of people. It can have a long wait. So make some reservations, order a drink at the bar, and let the good times roll!

Everything was so fresh and wonderful! We had oysters first-they had crabmeat, spinach and hollandais and it was AWESOME!!! It was just enough hollandaise sauce, not too much. I had fried oysters and my husband had the Mahi Mahi. The meal was prepared fresh and tasted great. We went on a Saturday night and it was busy but we were seated right away. The service was fast and friendly. I enjoyed it very much!

Some friends and I met up here last Sunday evening. There was no wait although the dining room was packed. We ordered the mango mojitos which were absolutely delicious. We all ordered appetizers and everyone raved about their food. I had the coconut shrimp with a side salad and enjoyed every bite. Desserts were shared and we tried the pecan pie and praline cheesecake. I thought the pecan pie was too sweet to eat. That should be taken off the menu until they fix the sugar in the recipe but the cheesecake was perfect. I'll definately go back to try some of the entrees.

Where do I begin! I came in tonight with a group of 12 for a nice dinner the evening before a wedding. Our waiter, Pops, was absolutely phenemonal, there's just no two ways about it. He went above and beyond to make us feel special. Our beverage glasses were NEVER empty but you hardly noticed him placing another next to you. He did it in a manner for you to acknowledge but not so much that it was distracting. He was so polite and helpful. Each course was gently placed in front of us (I'll talk about the food in a minute!). I haven't had service this good in quite a while. Now the food. It great! The stuffed crab, the oysters, the crawfish. Everything was very fresh and tasty. There was a hint of spice but it was mild enough for my sometimes wimpish palate. The portions were more than ample. I couldn't even come close to finishing a single course. The salad would have been enough of a meal for me! It was topped with the freshest veggies and a slab of feta. By the time the Key Lime Pie came out, I could barely take a couple bites but that too was more than delicious. The crust was nice with the ground pecans. I can't say enough positive things about the place. I think it would be hard to disappoint!

once again....i will say i'm from Maryland and picky about my seafood but i enjoyed my dinner at Pappadeaux. i ordered fried shrimp and i got a HUGE portion, like enough for 4 people (no lie) and tons of french fries. fried shrimp were fresh, house battered, and i would order them again! my friend ordered mahi mahi (huge portion) with scallops, shrimp, and crawfish on top w a sauce. i liked her dish too! she had oysters on the half shell, there were on special for $5.95 a dozen!!! nice place, service was just ok, we had two waiters (one in training), they were nice but a little slow. i asked questions about the crab meat (u know us folks from Maryland), i wanted to know where it was from, he came back and said "we don't really know, somewhere on the east coast." needless to say, i didn't order a crab dish. prices were very reasonable considering the portions. i would return!

On our last day in Atlanta, we decided at the spur of the moment to take a friend's advice and try Pappadeaux. We looked at the menu and decided we wouldn't expect much from the crabcakes, since my husband is from Maryland and expects perfection. We had a rocky start, because we arrived shortly after they had closed (we were told that they closed at 11pm). Tim, the Manager headed to the kitchen for a word with the chef, and next thing we knew, a patient, gracious server, named Dearick (hope I'm getting these names right) was taking our orders to-go. Customer service was superb and never did we feel that we were imposing (though I know we were). My husband ordered the crabcakes, which came with a delicious tomato dish, filled with lobster and I don't know what else, and smashed potatoes. He hates vegetables but he cleaned his plate of the tomato dish and everything else. I had the seafood cobb salad with huge chunks of lump crabmeat, large shrimp, avocado, and thick sweet bacon and boiled eggs on a bed of spinach leaves--ridiculously good! This will definitely be our go-to place when in the Atlanta area!!

I have eaten @ the Pappadeaux's in Austin TX and this one is not quite up to par with the TX locations. That being said this location is very good for georgia. Pappadeaux is always a experience, this is my dad's favorite place to dine out at so we go here sometimes. I went last night and my waitor was Mimi who was very friendly and welcoming. Pappadeaux has the best Cajun taste in the metro area to my knowledge! This restaurant's menu definitely has it's "must haves", such as blackened shrimp & crawfish fondeaux, soft shell crab, and my personal favorite LOBSTER IN A POT, which I cant give enough love!! From the appetizers to the awesome desserts never a chance of disappointment. I would highly recommend this restaurant to anyone. even if you don't like seafood! Sit at the bar for a drink as well if one gets the time for one of their Tiki-ish cocktails or a fine martini. There is also location in Doraville as well, on Jimmy Carter Blvd. @ I-85.

Don't be intimidated if the parking lot is full and there are people waiting outside. It's a BIG restaurant. And the food here is wonderful. If you love shrimp, you should really go here. They definitely branch out from the traditional boiled-fried-scampi trio that you usually see as 'seafood' restaurants. Top that off with a really good bar, and you've got yourself a great dining experience.

Being that I'm from Seattle and having a limited Southern cuisine selection at home, I always indulge myself as much as possible when i head down South. My first stop for dinner always in the ATL is at Pappadeaux. Everything at Pappadeaux is terrific from the appetizers to the wide selection of fish and Southern specialties. My FAVORITE by far is the mouthwatering Crawfish bisque. Damn, it's so GOOD. I've considered on several occasions on freezing the bisque and bringing it home to snack on in Seattle. Delicious. So if you're ever in ATL or any town w/ a Pappadeaux, i'd highly recommend checking it out.

My boyfriend, his son, and I went to Pappadeaux for the first time last night. We have lived around the corner for about 2 years and always talked about going. We were greeted by the hostess and the manager, Jason, at the hoststand. They were extremely welcoming! Our server was Susan, who impressed me with her knowledge and help with the menu! We started with their $5.95 dozen oysters and bowl of shrimp gumbo. Both good. The three of us then had the alligator appetizer (grilled) and Susan added fries for the 10 year old, the Shrimp Etoufee, and the Seafood Skewers over rice. The dishes are HUGE! I will have 3 meals from my entree. We enjoyed all three! The manager Jason came to check on us and told us to enjoy a dessert on him for our first time at the restaurant. He is definitely a people person and talked very well about the restaurant and things to come in the spring/patio. At the end of the meal, we enjoyed two desserts from Jason. The atmosphere was cool and unexpected, the staff very friendly and helpful, and the food was great and lots of it! Thanks for a great first impression...we will be back!

Well, well, well... On 7/31/08, the wife and I went here for dinner around 7:45 and it seemed pretty packed, but we were able to get a table within 10 minutes. Once seated, I reviewed the menu and it seems to be a upscale version of Long John Silvers. We decided to order the frog legs and gator nuggets for an apps and they were fried to a golden brown and very juicy and tasty. When we got the Pappadeaux platter, it was 2 huge mounds of fried goodness... If you enjoy some artery-clogging fried goodness that's a bit pricey, I recommend this place. But if you want the thrifty version of this go to LJS or Captain D's. By the way I had to wait about 10 minutes to leave because the waiter lost my debit card but at the end of the day, it came home with me

My mom has been talking about Pappadeaux ever since they went with a bunch of friends on a trip to ATL. She said everything was delicious and she was right! Went with my cousin during our Atlanta get-away trip and had lunch here the very first day. It was Saturday around 11 when we arrived so no wait at all. We started with two Swamp Things, their signature drink. It was visually appealing but not the best drink I've ever had, though I take full responsibility for that. It's half Margarita and half Raspberry and I don't like Margarita's or anything raspberry flavored so I should have gone with the Pirate Punch which looked way more up my alley. But taking into consideration the fact that I don't like Margarita or Raspberry, it was actually pretty good. To eat, I got the Oyster Trio and my cousin got the crab seafood fondue. Both were mouthwateringly scrumptious. With the exception of not enough bread for the fondue, it was perfect. We got appetizers to make sure that we had room for dessert. We were completely stuffed after the food but were determined to squeeze in a piece of the tempting sweet potatoe pecan pie with ice cream. It was worth it. Our waitress was excellent. She helped with the decision making process and made our experience very enjoyable. Is definately on my list for a return trip during my next Atlanta visit.

Came here for lunch on a slow Friday... and the place was booming with people, maybe because it was Good Friday, people were gearing up for Easter Eating.. who knows.. but the place was packed. I ordered the fried oyster appetizer which came w/ fries and a bowl of their seafood gumbo, as well as a plate of pan fried soft shell crabs. The meal was pretty good, but I would recommend skipping the fried oyster. I really like fried oysters at Japanese sushi places, but here, they are tiny, over fried, and the batter was not light. The fries were way more then the tiny baby oysters... when I order fried oysters I expect plump juicy oysters, these were TINY!!! The seafood gumbo was pretty good and filling. It had large oysters, scallops, shrimps, rice, in a nice clean broth. The next time I come I will definitely give the Pappaduex Oyster's a try,it sounds like Oyster Rockafeller, and I absolutely love those.. if you are not into Seafood they also have steak and chicken, but truly this place has alot of fish, shrimp , and oyster dishes on their menu, and why would you come here if you don't want seafood? The pan fried soft shell crab was pretty good from what I tasted, but they give way too much dirty rice for 3 soft crabs, it's like a HUGE mound of rice.. it's tricky on the eyes, because you think the plate is filled w/ greatness, but sadly it's just a carb filler. The waitress was very peppy, and happy, alittle too happy but hey it's better then being grumpy.. the place has a funky Island tropical theme to them. The entrance into this restaurant is tricky, it's a pretty sharp turn into the plaza so keep your eyes open. The platters are HUGE, looking at other people's entree, if you are not a big eater, you will be bringing leftover home. I am satisfied to find a seafood place near Atlanta that is consistent and is not overpriced.. this place definitely beats Red Lobster..except RL has yummy cheesey muffins as their starter free bread, this place gives you nothing...

It's a chain, but still pretty good. I had the grilled Mahi Mahi which was quite tasty. In Atlanta, they have Shiner Bock on tap. Casual atmosphere and moderately expensive.

Ain't nothin like deep fried frog legs and french fries...no lie. Went to visit my peeps in the ATL and had a ball. They took me to this restaurant and I tried to eat everything on the table. The atmosphere was strictly southern, the food and drink was great...I ate from everyones plate. The Salmon dish was good and the apple martini was off the chain. When the waitress heard that I was from L.A, she gave me a free glass with the logo to remember them. P.S went to the Olive Garden in Atlanta....no difference from the boxed ones here in L.A

Seafood lovers have bragged about this place for years. Finally I made my way there a few months ago and was not impressed. That's probably because the customer service was horrible and the price of very basic dishes was exploded beyond belief. Like some of my other restaurant experiences, the best part was the outdoor waiting area; we took nice pictures around the fountain. Hopefully your dining experience will be better should you decide to go. Pappadeaux has a few locations in the metro area and for more information go to pappadeaux.com .

Pappadeaux = tasty Cajun seafood. The Marietta location is high up on a hill, which is cool because they have some fountains & waterworks going down it. They have a huge & pleasant patio. The inside is nice...perhaps a bit too open, so it can be loud. Definitely order the Swamp Thing drink = Midori & Chambourd slush. For eats, anything with their shrimp is good. They have etoufee and things of that nature. I like this chicken salad that they have...it is huge!! They have I think 3 locations around Atlanta...this one is closest to me. We had my mom's 60th B-day party at a big table with about 20 ppl at the Alpharetta one, and the waitstaff was really helpful. We brought in our own cake from Costco (good carrot cake there!) and they brought it out with candles, then cut it up for all the guests. Reps that visit my work sometimes take us to the Norcross one on Jimmy Carter, also nice. Visit Count: 12 (for all 3 locations)

Consistently yummy cajun seafood and sides. Ambiance is usually fairly loud and there's often a wait but it's worth braving to enjoy their menu.

Pappadeux's is obviously good...however if you've lived in New Orleans, Lafayette and etc. please remember it's a chain. Is great for a chain? ABSOLUTELY? Is it top notch cajun? Uh, no. Nevertheless this place is great for groups because they give you SO MUCH FOOD that everyone will be pleased. The service can be pretty hit or miss but that's because the typical customer is in a lard provided haze that heck, WHO CARES...MORE FRIED SUCH AND SUCH, MORE FRIED THIS AND THAT. :-) So come wearing nonrestrictive clothes, order something you've never had before like the gata and have a good time. You can always repent and cleanse tomorrow.

One of my favs for seafood, cajun style. There has not been anything there that I did not like. The drinks are good too and you get a really nice size glass for the price. I don't know what more to say, but try it for yourself, only if you can appreciate the cajun.

Totally OK, not great. I've had better. First of all the wait here is ridiculous but DH wanted seafood from Pappadeaux so there we were waiting an hour for a table with a 1 year old. Anyway, we got our table and the food took FOREVER to come. I saw an old friend of mine and she had the same complaint, they had been there for a while too with a newborn. Once their food showed up they ate a little and then had it packed up because they were so pissed. My husband ordered a lobster tail and they offer it broiled and so he ordered it that way and they brought his steak without the lobster because the lobster was not done. So we packed up our food and waited 15 minutes for them to bring the lobster tail. Its really sad because this was my first visit to Pappadeaux. I'll be back... hopefully the experience will be different.

A little pricy but the quality of food was good. Loved their crawfish boil and oyster promo (seasonal). Oyster on a half shell was VERY good/fresh. Every time I went the place was packed.

Yesterday my co workers and I went to Papa Deaux for lunch and the following happened. For some reason I started to cough really bad and requested a glass of water from our waiter. Instead of getting me the glass of water, he proceeded to keep telling us the specials of the day. I had to run across the restaurant to the bar to get a glass of water so I wouldn't choke to death. The bartender asked if I was ok and I stated no. The bartender quickly gave me a glass of water and I returned to my party. We ordered our food and waited over 40 minutes and heard nothing from anyone. Finally when the food came the order was wrong and our waiter could care less. After one of my co workers requested a manager did we get some type of response? We received 30% of our bill but, I have to say this whole experience has turned me off to Papa Deaux's immensely! Please tell your wait staff if you don't want to be there, stay home.

I've eaten hear hundreds of times. The service and food are perfection. There are a lot of little secrets, however. If you try to stroll in on a Saturday night with a group without reservations, you're in trouble. I recommend a small (four or less group), with reservations. I strongly recommend sitting at the bar....superb, fast service, with lots of fun stuff to look at. You can sometimes get forgotten at the tables. The frog legs are among the best in the world. Perfection. The alligator bites are quite tastey....need to be sampled. The portions are huge, and the fried food makes you full fast, so be aware. I was not as impressed with the red beans and rice, but I got spoiled in New Orleans! Their beer on tap and gin and tonics are great. This is a perfect place for lunch...if you tell them you are rushed, your food is almost instantly delivered. There is a huge parking lot that is jammed, but there is always somewhere to park. This is the closest to genuine New Orleans food I've experienced anywhere other than New Orleans. The raw oysters are great...just not available for many months of the year. (The old "R" rule.) The bread pudding is WONDERFUL...just ask for for a shot of dark rum to pour over it first!

I'm not a big chain fan, but these guys do it right. I was just there again for lunch recently and had the crawfish etoufee, which I like better than my own. The salad is pretty good with greek dressing that is really tasty and looks like it is made in house. Kudos. I used to cook in a Cajun restaurant and this place is okay by me. For dinner I had the trout which was enormous with very nice lump crab meat on top. I almost want to give it a 5. I'm just so damn stingy with my fives.

I ate here with a group of 6 other ladies back in June for dinner and we were all extremely pleased with our service, drinks, and waiter. He was especially amazing with catering to my order and another lady in my group who is also a vegetarian. I ordered the spaghetti squash, tomato & arugula barley salad, and asparagus for my meal and the grilled shrimp bruschetta for an appetizer. The waiter recommended that I get some kind of special sauce to pour on my spaghetti squash and it was AMAZING! Another lady and myself had our kids with us and they were seated at a table next to us and served just as well. All of our meals came out correct and our drinks were delicious as well. We definitely enjoyed our time and didn't feel rushed even after completing our meals. I've eaten at this location before and this trip guaranteed that I definitely will be returning again in the future.

O.V.E.R.R.A.T.E.D. Don't get me wrong, the food is not bad...but I do feel it's overrated. Now, I do feel obligated to make everyone aware that I am allergic to shellfish...So some might stop reading right there LOL! But from what I have had, it's still overrated to me. I think Six Feet under is just as good if not better and the Crawfish Shack on Buford Hwy is definitely better. And I believe they're both less expensive if I'm not mistaken. Now Pappadeaux does have some good drinks and awesome dirty rice. Their dirty rice is the best thing I've tasted there, it's delicious. Now the service is always good and on my last visit Rusty was my server. I really enjoyed him and he was able to arrange my platter to where I got extra fish in place of all the shellfish. The server on my visit before the last did not offer that. All in all, I do recommend Pappadeaux. But is it worth the loonggg wait they're usually on...maybe the dirty rice is. Lol

Go here for the... Ummmmm.... Ummmmm... Save yourself the trip and go to either the Atlanta Fish Market or Marietta Fish market. We had, as a group, a few different items on the menu. From alligator to mahi to steak and lobster and for the most part everything was WAY too salty. I literally drank an entire pitcher of water by myself. The service was good, I can't complain about that although the wait can be ridiculous. The alligator and Caesar salad were good too. Hence the 2 stars.

Our waiter named Derrick was very pleasant very personable. The food was good . I had calamari as an appetizer and crawfish dinner plate with cheese grits. Also my friend had the seafood sampler with fully loaded baked potato. The wait staff was awesome this week T was not overly sweet which I enjoyed. For dessert we tried the sweet potato pecan pie that came with the scoop of ice cream. Will definitely come back

We absolutely loved this location. We usually visit Pappadeaux's in San Antonio, Texas. Everything was cooked to perfection. I ordered the Pappadeaux's platter which was outstanding. My wife ordered the Alaskan King Crab and she was very happy. Our waiter Shane was awesome and even got us a slice of cheesecake in celebration of our 1st Anniversary!!! We will definitely be back next time we are in Atlanta.

Had lunch here today and although it was busy, the service and quality of food was wonderful. My server Ray M. was very attentive, personable, and professional! Had the alligator and calamari as an appetizer...delish! Also had the seafood gumbo...that was good. As for the entree, I ordered my usual.. the Pasta Mardi Gras which was everything AND some! Now I'm stuffed and feeling great from the Swamp Thing...which is a drink that never disappoints! All in all great experience...and when I return to this location, Ray M. will be my server of choice!!

With seafood restaurants it's always hit or miss. They either amazingly fresh and tasty or frozen bland mush. It never seems to be anything in between. I'm happy to say that pappadeaux is definitely a hit. With the southern atmosphere and live band playing in the corner on a Monday afternoon it sets up the environment and atmosphere nicely. Even with the very large amount of space that this place holds it was still very busy which is always a good sign. Even with the restaurant mostly full the food was still very speedy and delicious. They had their calamari on special and I can never turn down a good calamari. This came out within a few minutes of me ordering it and you could tell that it was extremely fresh. Very light and flaky. Not over battered. Amazing. Next the grilled Costa Rica Mahi came out. This paired with a bit of fresh crab on a bed of rice in a risotto style was to die for. I didn't think that fish could taste this good. If your wanting some seafood this is a must stop for Atlanta.

I eat here proababaly 4/5 times a month. and I've always been overall pleased with my food. I love all of the salmon dishes, grilled mahi, and the Mardi gras pasta. the service is pretty good as well. Lots of smiling faces and people eager to help. the drinks are delish. alcohol wise the grand hennesy is a go. or the swamp thing if thats what you're into. and strawberry lemonade is soooo bomb. (alcohol free) if you come on a weekend, expect to wait. but I'd say it's well worth it.

Took my bf here for his birthday on a Thursday night. The wait was only about 10 minutes. Our waitress was good. Our food was good- I had the seafood sampler and he had the shrimp brochette. Our drinks were good and not watered down- peach frozen margarita and grand hennesey. He even got a free birthday desert and that was good. So no complaints! If you are looking to spend less than $50 then this is not the place for you. We have previously been here so we knew what to expect with the menu. My bill was $90. No biggie- it was his bday so he could have whatever he liked! :) If you want good seafood then I definitely recommend that you try it out at least once. I know we'll return again.

A coworker and I ate here this evening. We arrived around 7:00pm. The wait was not too bad. The food was good. I had the fried crawfish and crawfish étouffée. It was tasty. The dirty rice has a little kick which was nice. The food is a little expensive but not bad for a once in a while treat. The only negative was that we were seated next to the live music. It was good, but we really had to talk loud to hear each other. Overall, I would recommend.

Nice scenery, parking was not great, hour wait. Other than that the food was delicious. I had the red fish and dirty rice. I will get that dish again and return despite the parking & wait. I'll just sit at the bar with an appetizer in the meantime.

You know what? I fell in love with this place/their food when I lived in Atlanta & have loved it ever since. So it was fitting that when I went home for a visit this Easter weekend, that I go. Granted, we had an hour & a half wait in the rain, but trust me when I tell you, the food is so worth it. Again, I was a greedy ass & not ashamed to say so! My meal was: Drink: non-alcoholic pina colada Appetizer: spinach dip with garlic bread. So freaking good!! Meal: seared shrimp, scallop & crabmeat in a vodka-parmesean sauce that had pasta, onion slices, broccoli & asparagus spears. I was too full to even think about a damn dessert. I lost my damn mind. I cant even remember what my friend had.

Cajon Combo, particularly the catfish was very bland. My boyfriend had the Louisiana Gumbo also nasty and bland. However I do enjoy the Fried Alligator, the stuffed Crab, and dirty rice. I'm not in any rush to go back. I would give it a 2 star but the manager and waitress were very polite and apologetic when I complained about our food.

All the other reviews tell how good the food is, I want to say how good the service is. I'm from out of town and stopped by because I heard so much about this place. Our order was mixed up pretty good but, "Junior" the manager straightened it out and then some. I can't say enough about him or this place. Will definitely be back next time I'm in Atl.

Just amazing. Definitely one of the best seafood restaurants in town. The shrimp, fish(both fried & grilled) are to die for, as well as the Dirty Rice. I'm a huge fan of Pappadeaux & they never disappoint. I never hear bad things about this establishment.

Another Atlanta landmark we have been meaning to try for many years, and finally the timing was right. We were staying at a nearby hotel, and decided this was the night for our last blowout before returning to school and work tomorrow. Our server Kim was very personable, although the restaurant itself is loud, and her voice is soft, so it was at times difficult to hear what she was saying. But we started with one of our favorite appetizers, Prince Edward Island mussels, and the broth was flavorful and tasty and the mussels were larger than usual. We were just disappointed there were not more of them, but at the same time, were glad there were not because we didn't want to spoil our dinner. My wife had a Blue Moon and I went for the Sam Adams, but Kim didn't hear me order the seasonal, but I was satisfied with the Boston Lager. Then came our entrees: she had the catfish and shrimp fried platter, with a side of sauteed spinach, and I went for the crayfish platter, which included etouffee and fried crayfish. Unfortunately (but fortunately, for me,) Kim brought me the fried crayfish platter without the etouffee, and when she realized her mistake, brought out the promised etouffee, cancelled the fried crayfish platter on the bill, and then recharged it out with the correct amount for the duo platter. I ended up with many more fried crayfish than I had planned, but they were tender and delicious as any I have had, and the etouffee was flavorful and spicy and some of the best I have ever had. I was able to substitute my fries for cheese grits with andouille sausage, and I was in heaven. We were about to burst, but then Kim brought out the mouthwatering dessert tray. Restaurant owners, a word. If you want to sell desserts, bring them out on a tray. We saw people all around ordering desserts who were probably as full as we were, and we fell victim to it as well, because we never order desserts. I could not resist the goblet of banana pudding, and my wife wanted the key lime pie, but it was late, and they were out, so she had the bread pudding instead. Lip smacking! Could not eat it all and brought some home. The restaurant is just beautiful inside and out, and service was awesome, so this is the first of many visits for that special night. It is a bit pricy but not for what you get. We loved our experience here tonight! And we were seated immediately since it was after 8:30 when we arrived. An amazing place!

I heard so many good things about Pappadeaux from so many people, yet never had the time to get over there and check it out. I came with a friend and we had a pretty damn good time. In a nutshell? Generous portions, a wide variety of robust flavors and lots of goof conversation. SERVER & SEATING We came around 1:45 pm. It took us a few moments to get seated; we wanted to sit at the bar, but it didn't appear that there were any seats that would be comfortable for the 2 of us. Shenee was our bartender. She's a petite, sassy Black girl with natural hair, smooth chocolate skin and a cute smile. She greeted us and recognized my date and I, as he's been there before with some of our acquaintances. The bar was pretty full when we entered. I guess folks were getting ready for happy hour, because it seemed that as soon as one person left, another person readily took their place. FOOD What I Ordered: Shrimp Creole & Grits, Swamp Thing, Turtle Brownie Sundae What He Ordered: Swamp Thing, Crawfish and Alligator Tail Descriptions and Reviews Shrimp Creole and Grits. The best way I can describe Shrimp Creole is by quoting Wikipedia: "cooked shrimp in a mixture of whole or diced tomatoes, the Holy trinity of onion, celery and bell pepper, spiced with Tabasco sauce or another hot pepper sauce and/or cayenne-based seasoning, and served over steamed or boiled white rice." The difference is my Shrimp Creole was served over thick cheese grits, which had andouille sausage in it. I loved this choice. At another restaurant, I may have wanted my shrimp fried, but here the way it's prepared is perfect. I got a generously sized portion - neither too much nor too little. If I wanted to chop the portions in half, I could have, but I was already starving. It was rich and flavorful with a robust kick that simmered on the palate. The grits were nice and thick but didn't get bricklike and congeal while I was eating. (You know, like how it does when you leave it in a pot or bowl at home...and it starts molding like a hominy sculpture.) Swamp Thing: EVERYONE talks about the Swamp Thing. EVERYONE, so I had to try it. I had one and it was crazy good. I'm not much of a public drinker; I prefer to maintain my sobriety most of the time so I can maintain control of my environment. I ordered the large Swamp Thing; it was strong yet smooth. I was able to get a nice, lasting buzz off of it, and one was enough to last my entire visit. Turtle Brownie: Let me be honest: Brownies are my damn weakness. Especially if they're covered in caramel and are rich and thick. (There's something inappropriate in here somewhere.) This brownie is like $6.95 on the menu and dude, all I can say it's the biggest, thickest, richest, dessert I've ever had at that price. I promise you, I've had the brownies at Applebee's, Chili's and a few other places, but none were as big as this. Richness has been more intense at other places, but this one had a strong equilibrium of thick, rich texture and smooth consistency. This combination put me on my butt and had me knocked out by the time I was done. I needed a nap. It was oh-so-good. Crawfish: I think crawfish are the hoodrat cousins of shrimp and lobster. I'm not a huge crawfish fan. However, I tried some of it. You get a huge portion of crawish, but you're cracking them yourself and scooping, sucking and slurping the meat out. My date ended up ignoring the heads; he wasn't into the gooey brain matter. I had a small piece and the seasoning and texture was good but because I'm not a fan in the first I would say it's nice if you like to have a spiritual experience cracking your food apart by hand. *shrug* Gator Tail: I tried it once before a long time ago and thought it was way too slimy, chewy and rubbery. Not my cup of Yogi. At his insistence, he covered a piece in the accompanying sauce. This time, I might have gotten lucky. It wasn't as untasty as I remembered and it wasn't bad. Still, not sure I want to try it again. It's actually pretty good, but I don't know. If it's constantly compared to calamari and I hate calamari...then I'm just not going to keep taking my chances. WHY I TOOK OFF 1 STAR ON A 5 STAR EXPERIENCE Love the place, will go again, but it seemed like we were waiting a little too long for some of our items to arrive. It was busy, but not overwhelming - at least not to me. Either way, these things are subjective so.... yeah. ;)

I was in the ATL for the brother's graduation, got to try one of the local favs, right? Right! Easy to find from the hotel, upon walking in they had a nice little deck and what I think was live music. We had a party of two and the wait was 1.5 hours. Ugh no! To the bar I go for immediate service! Appetizers up, ordered the lump crab and spinach dip, it came with garlic bread, and it was great! No complaints here! Next, the the main course was the shrimp and grits. I don't know what it is about me with this whole seafood/breakfast combo that I have to try everywhere I go....lol Anywho, that dish was amazing! I want to say one of the best that I have had. The shrimp was seasoned nice, it had a yummy tomato based sauce, with andouille sausage. The grits were just so creamy....and right. The dessert was meh, not so good - sweet potato pecan pie. I tasted all pecan no sweet potato. #fail The drinks were awesome, the bartender hooked them up! Wondering if they can open one of these in Maryland....!!! Loved it!!!

Pappadeux is a go to spot if you love seafood, a buzzing after work crowd on a Friday, and appreciate a restaurant that gives you nice size portions and even has a solid dessert menu. They are a quadruple threat! I consistently get the salmon Yvette or fried shrimp and my husband gets the Opelousas. We fight for the last bite of pecan sweet potato pie. We are not typically dessert people and we find ourselves stopping consistently to carry out this dessert after having had dinner at other restaurants. It's that good! If you plan to go there during prime dining time on Saturday and especially Friday you could be in for a long wait so call first if you are starving.

Parking lot was packed on a Monday night. I was told they are full every night--good indicator of a good place. The place is big inside, which was nice because there was ample seating (no wait). Sign up for their online eclub, because we got a free appetizer coupon. We started off we the crawfish shrimp fondue w/ garlic bread($12.95 free w/ coupon). It was awesome. I couldn't get enough. I had the shrimp and scallops over risotto and spinach ($28.95). Great dish. I also added a cup of seafood gumbo for $5.95--nothing to brag about/won't order again. My wife had the blackened salmon over ramen noodles ($29.95), which was very tasty. My daughters split a child's fried shrimp platter (looked good, ~$6). For dessert I had bread pudding ($4.95), which was very good. My wife got two large Stellas ~$14, one margarita ~$10 and one miller lite $4.95. Service was good, atmosphere was pleasant, place was clean, food above average. I would recommend it to anyone. The place is moderately priced: apps $7-20, entrees ~$19-50 (most $25-40), desserts $5-8.

I love this place for its phenomenal seafood quality. Coming from a country where fresh fish/seafood is almost our daily dish, I got my cravings for the taste of them every now and then. I always got what I wanted here. The lobsters were consistently tasted fresh. I'm not sure about other seafood though. Nevertheless, this place is very noisy I sometimes feel like I don't have enough energy to go there. The tables are also crowded I often found myself avoiding the eyes of the people from our neighboring tables.

I expected something like Red Lobster or Olive Garden but was surprised to have actually enjoyed my dinner here. The older I get the more I value how I spend my calories. This place was worth the 2,000 calories. I only wish I had ordered dessert. Service was good as well. A solid pick for dinner.

Have been going to this location on and off for over 10 years - and is a frequent choice for office or dinner meetings. I am going to generalize and say that almost everything is good to very good. I routinely get the gumbo and crawfish etouffee. Larger groups really like the cheese/seafood dip. The house salad is not noteworthy so I would skip that in favor of an appetizer or bowl of gumbo. Very nicely appointed space which would remind you of a restaurant in New Orleans except there are no hobo's loitering outside and try as I might I didn't smell any urine in the parking lot. Okay...so it's better then New Orleans...

This is towards the higher end in terms of price, but it is worth it. I got the Gumbo and it was full of seafood, with whole pieces of shrimps. I suggest making reservations, especially for weekends. I went on a weekday and it was an hour wait. However, the service was surprisingly quick, the food came really fast. I did some research and read that the company believes in fast service for quicker turn arounds.

I'm so not a chain-food fan, with a few exceptions. This is one of them. I'd been jonsesin for gumbo for while, and found myself facing I-85 lockdown; Pappadaux's was the last turn before hitting the highway. Couldn't think of a better way to wait out traffic and give myself treat. Huge, FULL parking lot at 3:45pm? Late lunchers or early Happy Hour fans? A bit of both. They've got a great Happy Hour deal! Small menu full of popular starters done 1/2 portion sized, 1/2 price. THAT's a mini po' boy? It had a dozen shrimp inside! Gumbo was why I was there and I like the way they do it! They've got 3 different types, using the same base. When I asked for no oysters, they gave me extra shrimp and sausage. I had to ask for more broth. Like a side of broth, as there was no room for any in my bowl. The okra was still crisp. Just enough spice. Looking at the menu, they've got one of the best chain-food menus. Very little similarities to RL or even Joe's. I've got to go back for the fish. Great lunch menu too.

This has become my Atlanta tradition. I frequent Atlanta about 10 times a year, and my last day (Sunday) on my way back home, I HAVE to stop at Pappadeaux's. I WISH Nashville had one here. I really should venture off my usual, but I always get the Shimp and Grits. My GOD, what a great dish! Start off with a bowl of Seafood Gumbo. That is the best thing in the world. It makes for a long ride back home, but well worth it. The service is always friendly. Typically a short wait depending on the time of day. But they are rather swift in getting guests in and out. Ready to go back now.

My first time experience at Papadeaux's was Fantastic! Our waiter George was Superb. He was very experienced with the menu & offered great suggestions and the food was wonderful to say the least. I'll definitely be back.

The food is good BUT we had 7 in our party and had a 2+ hour wait. Just for the table. They don't take reservations. VERY LOUD inside. We had kids and 2 tables over was a table of "wanna be" gangstas yelling and cussing. I guess that because we were 1 of 3 groups of white people the manager didn't feel that she should ask them to calm down but instead wait for us to leave and not return. I had the shrimp and grits-not bad. I've had better at Ray's on the River.

I would two star the place, because i thought the hostess was a little harsh and not very friendly, but once we moved passed her, things were way better, so I will 3 star them for now. Let me tell you this - GET A LARGE SWAMP THING. Its a signature drink, and it will get you floating on cloud 9 in no time. Its only $2 more for a large one, and you get 4oz more of liquor. My friend went with the Pappadeaux platter for dinner. I went with the mixed seafood skewers and the other people went with one of the special meals and the small fried shrimp. I could tell that the food had been prepared freshly and even the dirty rice was much better than most places I've had dirty rice. All portions were plentiful and at least three of us needed a to go box when we left. As far as the atmosphere goes, its a little loud IMO for "upscale" dining, but most people seemed to be having a good time and enjoying themselves. There is a nice patio area to wait for your table to be ready, and the rocking chairs are really comfortable. Will surely try it again in the future, if for nothing else, one more SWAMP THING

Not what I was expecting! When I realized this is a chain, my expectations went down. But from the first moments in this place I was charmed. The hostess joked with us, the waiter was extremely helpful and gregarious. The majority of support waitstaff were very friendly and prompt. We tried the alligator appetizer. Also not what I was expecting. This was the most tender and flavorful gator I have ever had. I don't know if it is because of the batter or the delicious dipping sauce, but we loved it. I would make a meal off this. When the entrees arrived, quickly I might add, I was impressed with the presentation and the amount of food. Our waiter recommended the Mississippi catfish and I went with that. Amazing ! Broiled and blackened with sweet scallops, spicy shrimp , and deliciously prepared oysters in a magnificent cream sauce. So what other people are going on about everything being fried?? Peruse the menu people! Many other choices. All in all it was a thoroughly enjoyable experience albeit on the slightly pricey side. I will definitely return as I, my husband , and son left more than full and happy !

Being the "Bostonian" who is ready to critique any suggestions for Seafood dining. So when this establishment was offered (by the Ex-wife lol ) I put on my "Redsox" hat, and started the process.. service was a little slow, but it was packed. I started with the mussels which we're good, could have used a bit more Garlic, my daughters had the spinich dip which was good. For dinner I figured im in the South... so let's do the Catfish with beans, fried golden next to some beans laying on a bed of white rice.... yummy x 2!! definitely a return trip!!

Went on a Friday night and expected a wait, got a minor one of no more than 20minutes. Great start to what turned into a rather long dinner. We were seated around 8ish and didn't leave til after 10. My GF had never been and I hadn't been since I last visited Texas. She was in for a fried food treat!..lol We both ordered the seafood platters, mine was with catfish and a switch from crab cakes to crawfish and a side of fries. She kept it simple with a baked potato on the side. The portions are massive of course and I knew that going in but I think I had sort of forgot..lol We both ended up with left overs which made for a perfect small meal the next day. The four is just because we were there so freaking long. Our server was busy, though still attentive. I just wished we could have ended things about 30mins earlier than we did. Plus parking is a hot mess. It's a chain and most of the fare is fried but so what, we will be back!

I've been here once before that I can recall and my food was pretty good, but for some reason when I went this last time, my food was amazing! Chef change? Good night this time? Bad night last time? Nothing fried ever tastes bad? I don't know what the hell it was but I know everything was on point this last visit! We started with the Andouille sausage gumbo. Good stuff! I had the seafood platter as my entrée. Everything was perfectly fried golden brown and still moist on the inside; not overcooked. M'lady had some kind of bacon-wrapped shrimp goodness stuffed with Monterey jack cheese with dirty rice on the side. C'mon, the minute I typed bacon you know nothing could be wrong with this dish. And the cocktails, 2 large frozen swamp things. You know how you see the pictures for a restaurant in the ad on the bus passing by, or on TV commercials and you expect your food to taste and look like that picture when you actually go to the place? Well ladies & gentlemen, this was that night. I couldn't have been more satisfied with everything that I shoveled in my mouth that night from start to finish. Do note that if you go on a Friday or Saturday evening this place (including the bar) gets RIDICULOUSLY packed and parking becomes a mess so be sure to get there early or carpool so that you don't spend 30 minutes looking for parking. Enjoy!

Simply delicious. I got the costa rican tilapia, naked with garlic/herbs and it was very tasty. The gumbo is also pretty good. I'll be definitely back!

Located just north of atlanta, I've unfortunately got to say that the food was just mediocre. I liked that for appetizers they gave garlic bread instead of your standard roll but the bread seemed like it had been sitting around and wasn't particularly astounding. I was actually a big fan of their appetizers the crawfish dip with fried prawns and crab were delicious.. where I was a little less impressed was their main course department. I had their salmon special.. which was good but nothing out of the ordinary..Thankfully, this place is not horribly over priced.. I'd expect to spend about 30 a person. The desserts were also good however they were a little too sweet for my taste.. This restaurant is a no go if you care about diabetes, high cholestrol, or jus gaining weight... But!! this place would be your fat man's heaven!

Some of the best seafood ever..and definitely equally as great at Ray's on The River. I usually have the fried oysters. I also have had the fried alligator appetizer and loved them. The boudin is good too. The gumbo is decent but not what most of us from the South are used to. It's hard to explain but its more of soup. Red beans and rice are good too. Make sure you try the Swamp Thing cocktail. Very very good.

The service was awful. The server at the bar really acted as though he did not want to be bothered. It's a shame that I had already ordered my food, because I would have left. I just have a thing with wasting food. The meal was good and that's about it.

Pappadeux is a Cajun themed restaurant chain with locations ranging from Georgia to Arizona. The seafood is amazingly fresh as seasoned diners will tell from both the taste and the texture. However, Pappadeux's charm may be lost on a few. The dishes cater to a uniquely regional palette and those without an appreciation for the powerful seasonings and homely side dishes may find themselves slightly put off. I do recommend coming here with an open mind and a penchant for trying new things. The servers should be able to help you select an entree suitable to your tastes. They are all incredibly friendly and bring with them their Southern hospitality as much as their Southern flavor.

I normally go to the location in Alpharetta since it's my fave of the two. However, for my 31st Birthday Dinner i decided on this location as it was more centrally located to my friends. The food & service were almost unbearable. Everyone in my party (11) had seafood and chicken and it all tasted salty. There was not one item that was not over seasoned. Some people were even wiping seasoning off their food because it was too much salt. They sat us in a wine room despite the restaurant having plenty of larger table areas available. The wine room was HOT. It was a nice 77 degrees outside and the room was a good 80. The rest of the restaurant was nice and cool because of the air conditioner. The servers also were in and out of the room, squeezing around my guests to get wine bottles all night. When i finally complained after the 5th waiter almost dropped a bottle of wine on my little sitter, they offered me some nasty bread pudding as if that would shut me up. The waiter messed up every body's ticket so some were over charged for things they didn't order, others were missing things all together. I couldn't complain anymore when my $78 meal (me, my son and friend) came back to me on a ticket that read $23. There was no way I was going to correct him for a 3rd time so I paid the $23 and vowed to not return to this location. I later found out that another friends ticket should have been $70 and they ended up being charged only $29. Somebodies getting fired! SMH

This is hands down the BEST and FRESHEST sea food I have ever had in ALL of my life!! Oh My God!!! This food is orgasmic, I am talking, toe curling, oooh ahhh wait don't stop, slow down...ahhhhhhhhh just that good!!!! First they had a seafood spring roll appetizer which is unprecedented!!! It is about 12 inches long...with mouth watering crab and very few veggies, I mostly tasted the meat...yummmm...the best I've ever had, fa real fa real!!!! I had a bacon wrapped shrimp entree and these were HUGE bay shrimp that were succulent and AMAZING!!!! I almost felt a depression coming on when I got down to my last bite. I swear I will eat here every single time I go to the ATL. My friend said, Pappadeaux would change my life and the way I felt about seafood and I'll be damn, she was right. I just have one question, can they FedEx a meal to L.A.? Yummmmmmmm, yummmmm, and one more yummmmm!!!!

Good lord it was the best food I've ever had. The duo halibut is what I chose and my husband had the signature salmon yvette dish. Both were so amazing we ate past our comfort zone. The strawberry cheesecake finished the night in bliss. I will most def be back! Ask for Sydney she was a fantastic waitress and took the time to help us decide what we want.

Amazing, once again!!! We've always come here at lunch or off hours with the kids when it isn't as packed. Went there yesterday by ourselves on a late and very busy Friday night and I have to say the service, wait time, and quality of food didn't falter at all. I might even venture to say it was even better, but I'll credit our wonderful server for part of that. The food was delicious as usual. This time around I had their Costa Rican Mahi Mahi Alexander. Not only does it come with Mahi Mahi, but crawfish, shrimp, and scallops with dirty rice. I'm always wary of scallops because of a previous bad experience. But in this dish they were cooked perfectly and had a buttery texture...omg. Still haven't tried their fried alligator appetizer even though it was recommended, but we did have dessert this time. Their dessert is all baked in house and fresh. I had a hard time deciding but settled on their Praline Cheesecake...the portion was huge and to die for!!! It came with candied pralines, caramel sauce, and whipped cream- so sinful, but worth it! As far as prices go, often times people say its "too expensive". But for fresh seafood that is delicious, trust me its worth it. Their regular dinner portions are big enough for two to share, or enough for another meal the next day.

It doesn't get any better than this place. Had the gumbo, fondue, and Ribeye with mashed potatoes and greens. Each plate was better than the previous. I sat right at the bar and Erik treated me like family. I will definitely be back.
