Friends and other resturant waitresses have recommended this place. While Krispy Kream donuts are yummy (especially hot and fresh), they can be overpowering with sweetness. I've never been a fan of Dunkin Donuts. They're donuts leave a gross film on the roof of your mouth. Dough in the Box has got the mastery of donuts! These guys are just right! Cute little spot, parking can be tricky during busy hours, simple menu, friendly staff, and great food! They have a few different flavors of donuts as well as bagels, breakfast sandwiches, and a variety of hot and cold drinks. They're cold drink fridge has all the favorites too. Starbucks iced coffee, Yoohoo, Apple juice, orange juice, and variety of milks and sodas. We had the Boston Cream ( - the cream), glazed, strawberry glazed, sour cream, dulce de leche, and also a sausage, egg and cheese croissant. Holy cow these are amazing! Sweetness just right. (no film residue). Freshly baked. And the croissant sandwich was sooooooooo goooood! They use white american cheese I think and it makes it just so much more cheesy. I also had their vanilla iced coffee. While it did come from a pre-made machine it was delish. Even had a hit of chocolate. I loved it! Thank you to all the friends and resturant waitresses for recommending this place. We now have an easy, quick pick-up breakfast joint!

Finally, I got to visit DITB! Everyone who knows me knows I am a totally doughnut junkie! Give me some fresh glazed doughnuts and twists over cake, cupcakes, cake pops and all that, my heart belongs to the dough!! I arrived at DITB shortly after 9am. The very sweet lady behind the counter greeted me with a sweet smile, a good morning and asked me if it was my first time in. When I said "yes", she gave me a quick tour of the menu and proceeded to tell me her favorite items. I love when servers/owners do this! In fact, I ask them all the time: "what are YOUR favorites?" It really helps guide me in one direction or another when there are too many tantalizing choices to choose from. I already knew I was going for glazed doughnuts and twists but when she told me she loved the apple fritters, I threw two of those into my half-dozen box as well. She also told me that the sour-cream doughnuts were their specialty but since I'm not too crazy about cake doughnuts, I decided I'd try them next time. To top off my order, I got a ham and cheese croissant (which she warmed in the microwave for me) and a small cup of coffee. I think my order came to about $8. I tipped the lovely lady and left. Even though I live less than ten minutes away, it would've been the LONGEST drive home if I hadn't cracked open that box at the red light. It was then that I noticed she'd also thrown in some free doughnut holes with my order. Perfect! I snacked on them and drank my coffee as I drove home. Once I got to the house I was eager to taste the apple fritter and man oh man was it delicious! It was sweet and crunchy on the outside and soft in the middle with tart apple pieces throughout. Did I mention I don't even like apples? But this fritter was off the chain! I also enjoyed the glazed doughnuts. Mmmm. The H&C croissant was okay, it was a bit salty for me but the croissant was nice and soft. The twists I ordered were slightly disappointing because they weren't as fresh tasting as everything else. But, I can tell you one thing, I'll be visiting DITB again very soon! I loved it! Listen, you've got your Krispy Kreme on one hand and you've got your Sublime on the other, both great doughnut spots for different reasons, but DITB is not to be ignored. It reminds me of a little doughnut shop on the island I grew up on, very quaint but ALL business when it comes to doughnuts. Please check them out when you get a chance and tip the nice lady behind the counter!

Very nice lady and great customer service. Absolutely best donuts I have ever eaten. We will be going back every Saturday morning

Redeemed a Scoutmob offer here for a free donut from the friendly guy behind the counter. Unfortunately everything was mislabeled and we looked away as he bagged the item, and the cruller was really heavy and dry - don't understand all the raves.

Always tasty! They have a huge selection of doughnuts. (Unlike other places that have only a couple stale bites at all times of the day....DD) We love all the choices and the fritters. Everyone is very friendly. You definitely get a great bang for your buck here.

Dough In The Box .....mixed, baked, fried, glazed and boxed my dough just right! This place was highly recommended by friend a while back and after seeing the reviews knew I had to stop in. I know I'm not suppose to get this excited about food, but I love doughnuts! My favorites are the blueberry & apple fritters and the sour cream glazed are scrumptious. My first visit was specifically to try the blueberry fritters and I totally loved them. They were out of blueberry fritters this time around so I was forced to try a few others. 5 of the best.... 2apple fritters, sour cream, boston cream and a buttermilk -yummy goodness. The service is great, very polite group. The place is about average for a doughnut shop, and easy to find if you're driving up Austell Rd.

Due to the reviews I expected to be blown away. I wasn't. I purchased a glazed donut, a chocolate iced donut and a blueberry fritter. The nice woman gave me an apple fritter for free. She said I had to try it. The chocolate iced donut was very disappointing, it was very dry. The glazed was good...to be expected. I love glazed, but it wasn't better than any others. My vote is neutral on the blueberry fritter. It was too sweet for me, but I see how others would rave about it. The apple fritter was hands down the best! If I'm in the area which I usually am not, I could see stopping by for one.

Really good doughnuts at a really good price. Just make sure you get there early cause they sell out quick. Always a friendly staff that is very helpful.

  • Slim M.

The doughnuts were a little dry. Maybe my tastebuds have changed but they're not as tasty as I remember. The sausage on the sausage egg croissant was super bland- no spices in it? :( Oh, well...

  • Lindsay K.

Whatever you do, don't go in and order 6 croissants without calling ahead. The lady will give you a stern talking to, which I found obnoxious. She wants you to call the day before. Look, they are good, but Devs is better, and you don't feel like a bad person for giving them money and business.

I have drove past this place many times and had Zero interest on stopping by this location. I thought there is no doughnut better or on the level as Kripsy Kreme..... Boy was I wrong! The staff is super sweet. No they are not like Krispy Kreme but they are just as good on their own level. Not to add that they are good and much cheaper than Krrspy Kreme. For some odd reason I keep going when they are close to closing time and by that time selections are limited and they are out of doughnut holes. UUGGGHHHH The sweet staff lady suggested to call in advance to place order even if its a few doughnut holes so I could be sure to pick up some. I have had the apple fritters, vanilla creme, strawberry creme, and the original glazed. They are always very fresh and delicious. They are not after lunch. So get plenty and save some for later if you can.

I love this place. The doughnuts are so good. Try everything and you won't be sorry. My husband has been bringing these home for years and I have never had one flavor I didn't love. Try the cream cheese doughnut. It is to die for! Eat up

the BEST donuts in Atlanta!! If you grew up on the West Coast, this is the only place that has the ones from your childhood (raised). It's definitely worth the drive to get my apple fritter fix. Cinnamon twist, lemon filling, Boston cream, blue berry fritter are great too. Take a good cup of coffee on the drive so you can fully enjoy your donuts on the drive back. Tried sublime - it just did NOT do the job. the Staff is awesome and the price is very reasonable. Call ahead or go early. Yum Yum Yummy Yummy Yum Yum

This place has been around for a long time, and after one visit you'll easily be able to see why. Sure you have your Dunkin' Donuts and your Krispy Kreme and what have you, but those places are corporate cookie-cutter. You know what you're getting when you go in, and while it may be consistent it's pretty average and generic. Not so with Dough in the Box! They have a great selection of donuts, all made extremely well and very tasty, though my favorite is the plain cake donut. Not looking for sweets? Not to worry! DitB has excellent bagels as well. The staff puts a pleasant cap on the whole experience. They're all super nice, and they hand you delicious food. What more do you need?

Great local family owned donut shop. Great for weekends with the kids, treats for work and you can pre-order a BIG birthday donut for a friend (like me!). Friendly staff makes everyone feel like a regular customer. Check it out...tomorrow morning!

Once you've decided that it's time to fill your craving for deep-fried sugary goodness, the next choice is where to fill your tank. You could go to the place that "America Runs On...", but that's like going to see a medieval church only to find out it's really a facade, or going to Paris to see the Eiffel Tower. Paris, Las Vegas, that is.... You want something authentic, something built from the heart, and not some pre-measured recepie produced in a factory and gets shipped in 50 pound bags to thousands of stores. Your American cravings for sweetness can only be filled by the best, and that's what you'll have even if you have to go on a crusade to achieve it. The thing you may not know is that what you're really seeking is in SoCal, or Southern California... or is it?! OK, OK, I know you're saying to me, "Walter C., your ownself, I've got this craving, I came to Yelp, I searched for 'donuts', and now I'm sitting here reading your stupid review where you've gone on about simulacrums and American cravings, but you haven't told me a thing about this little, locally-owned donut shop called Dough In The Box. I no longer have a craving, I've got stomach cramps and I'm beyond simple desires. I need to fill a NEED! IWANTMYDONUTS!" OK, OK, Let me tell you about the SoCal connection with this donut shop in the DeSo (that'd be "Deep South"). Most donuts made anywhere in the U.S., except for California, contain sugar in the batter. Then they coat it with more sugary toppings and coatings. Donuts of the California variety, however, are typically made with very little or no sugar in the batter. The sweetness comes from the toppings or coatings. A standard SoCal donut is the "Sugar Raised." It's a regular donut, with a hole, that is rolled in granulated sugar rather than powered sugar. And, for my tastes, that's what I call a donut. Only, what Dough In The Box does is much better than any mom-and-pop SoCal donut shop because they use that special Southern ingredient that makes our biscuits so fine -- flour from the South, or white flour from winter wheat. You can just tell by how fluffy the donuts are, just like a good old-fashioned Southern biscuit, only without the red eye gravy. Hey, maybe that's something Dough In The Box should offer, a "DeSo Fritter" -- an apple fritter covered with gravy made from bacon grease. Mmmm... So we have a coupling of the West Coast and the Deep South. Could that be called a "Deep Californication?" Anyway, that's more likely a subject for my blog and would probably be flagged as inappropriate if I continued with that trail of thought in the confines of Yelp.com . Back to the donuts -- Now, I've not substantiated my claim about Dough In The Box using Southern flour as their primary ingredient. I have a pretty good hunch, and I've had my way with enough Southern biscuits, and also those things baked up North the Yankees call a biscuit, to know when winter wheat is a primary ingredient, and when it's not. Try a donut from Dough In The Box and then try one from the other guys, the ones we supposedly run on, and you'll know the difference. Is it against my Southern nature to like something from the West Coast? Nah, we're Americans and we're about freedom of choice (or at least that's what the retail corporations want us to believe). So I choose Dough In The Box whenever I get those West Coast cravings and can't make it to SoCal in a jiffy. Hey, Governor Jerry Brown how about extending that high-speed light rail to the Deep South? Maybe I shouldn't make those kinds of comments about that donut megacorp. I mean, we do live in the era of the U.S. Patriot Act, and if that's what we're told we Americans run on, then I could be labeled 'Un-American." If that's my fate, so be it. Put me on the watchlist America, I'm headed to Dough In The Box!

We have been going to the dough in the box for about 3 years. We always get Boston cream filled eclairs, apple fritter, plain cake, and whatever special they might be having that week. Any doughnuts I tried so far hasn't disappointed me. Definitely it's worth getting up and getting there early.

Looked up the place on Yelp; was interested to see how it was. Stopped by to try ham and cheese croissant and was blown away! It was so fresh and dough was fluffy- just like my grandma used to make! Service was great, owner Is very friendly! Strongly recommend to try!

It's official for me. This is my # 2 spot for doughnuts in Atlanta. I went for a hike this morning and left with an appetite. I headed to Waffle House, but they refused to answer my phone call. I drove down to Lenny's on Austell Road to my surprise and horror they are closed on Sunday. Had to stop by the shoe store cause, hey I was already in the plaza. I proceeded to pick up my cell and search for nearby spots. Five Guys came up and Pasta Bella, but my appetite and my stomach's size are no longer the same. Then it dawned on me. "I always have space for Donuts!" and off I headed down to Dough in The Box. So happy that I came because i have come at different times and on different days and their doughnuts are always WON-DER-FUL! I will attach a pic but let me just tell you what my dozen consisted of from top left side of the box: ROW 1 - Two Chocolate Iced with Peanuts (My fav!). One - Glazed (Oh so Yummy. Close to a KK doughnut), Four Apple fritters - (2nd Fav here and they keep fresh for days in a Zip lock bag), Row 2 the last of the four Apple Fritters, Three Cinnamon Rolls (My 3rd fav here. Very close in taste and sweetness to a KK doughnut), One Chocolate Cake (for my roommate. It's too thick for me but has a good taste), Free donut wholes (Yummy. Made from the Glazed Donuts), and ROW 3 - A Donut Twist (It was pretty good too!). For the purpose of this review I had to take at least two bites from each doughnut. :) Now I am happy that Waffle House did NOT answer my phone call! And yes, I realize that I spelled doughnuts two or three different ways, but didn't I just tell yo azz that I tried like 7 donuts? Huh? LOL! It's the sugar rush!!!!!

Thanks to other yelpers, I had to make a pit stop before I came into the office on Friday. The Bakers Man's wife was really nice. She offered suggestions on my order. She told me to come back and try the apple and blueberry fritters and the donut holes but there were out - it was only 9am! I got the chocolate cake, pumpkin spice, cream cheese donut, glaze, and blueberry. I sampled just about all of them and tried to encourage everyone to do the same. Some didn't follow directions so I didn't get to sample one of them (forgot the flavor). One co-worker just grabbed one, didn't even ask what the flavor was and bit right into it lol (Rude ass. You see us with this knife, sharing on small plates). Everyone stood in the kitchen, sampled away and raved about the freshness and non-greasy taste like other donut shops. I'll be back to try those fritters. I guess I need to be up early - not a chance that I will get there 5am when they open, but I'll try my luck again during the week. My colleagues couldn't thank me enough. They asked where the shop was and I informed them that it was close to my house. Crickets. I see making donut runs on my way to work (when I'm not running late) in my future.

I drove by and made a U-turn based on the Yelp reviews. It was definitely worth the stop! I have no idea why the lines are around the block at Krispy Kreme but I was glad there was no wait. It's a small place with friendly clerks. They were all out of donut holes but they said you can call ahead and place an order. I had a glazed donut and a butter croissant. Both were melt in your mouth delicious! They were also cheap. The donut was 85 cents and the croissant was only a dollar. I'll definitely return.

Good. Actually pretty good EXCEPT, not very friendly. Try Dev's on powder springs road instead. Dev's is incredible and the staff is very friendly and appreciative. You will not regret it.

This is another spot I have drove by for years. I think the name turned me off or something (lol) call me crazy but "Dough in the Box" just sounds so generic so I admit I just kept passing it by. Well today instead of driving by I stopped in to check it out and I can't believe I snubbed them for so long cause I tore those donuts up!!! I got the Cinnamon Twist and Sour Cream Donuts. Both were very fresh and delicious. I think I am hooked now so next time I will be getting at least a dozen to take home.

I generally do not like doughnuts, so do not say this lightly - these are worth the calories (I have only found one other store that I can say that about). They are both light and decadent at the same time. One or two is enough to satisfy, a feat that is not easy to accomplish in the doughnut realm. No need for a million flavors here - the ones that they have are perfect already.

    (5)
  • Chase G.

I've been driving past this place for a while and we finally stopped in. If you like Krispy Kreme because of the lightness, this place is not for you. The doughnuts here are fabulous and have a distinct flavor. WAY better than Dunkin' and different enough from Krispy Kreme that they aren't in competition. If you're in the area, you best stop by and grab a bite. Service was phenomenal! Such a sweet lady working there.

Glazed croissants and sugar donuts! So fresh and ohhh soooo good! I really do like this place, and mind you I'm an die hard Sublime Donuts fan, so technically I feel like I'm cheating on my love. Great customer service which is an added bonus.

I found out about dough in box about three years ago. It was my most favorite place to buy donuts in my whole life. However it looks like things have changed, I think the management is now different I went in there today and I was the only English-speaking person in the place. The donuts I got were terrible. They tasted like they were cooked in three-month-old oil. I will no longer recommend this place to anyone.

The best donuts, croissants, eclairs etc...in the entire state of Georgia. I have traveled the US, every city I go to, I look for a donut shop that makes everything in house. The real stuff, is at the places that make it in house. The "Fried Croissants are addictive. The croissants with the turkey & cheese baked in them...crazy delicious! All of the donuts are awesome. This is my spot on Sunday's after church...if it is a holiday weekend...go before church cause they will sell out. They also have their own blend of fresh ground coffee...got to have donuts & coffee! People drive from Alabama, Tennessee, to buy boxes of donuts & freeze. If you love fresh donuts & pastries...have to try this place.

  • Rachelle C.

We love this place! When we moved into our new house, our neighbors brought over a box of variety doughnuts... Amaaaaazing! Of course we wanted to check this place out for ourselves. Get there early or everything runs out fast. The shop could use a little upgrade and more creativity to make it fun but I have a feeling most people like the way it is :) Yummy yum!

  • Malia M.

We read about Dough in The Box on the Atlanta Magazine. I loooove donuts so we were excited. The location and building are a bit suspect. But sometimes this makes for the best experience. In this case, it did not. We ordered a half dozen, two bacon egg and cheese croissants and two glasses of water. The girl that took our donut order was short with us and seemingly annoyed. I did see other customers that were regulars receive cheery service though. We sat at the counter to wait for our breakfast sandwiches and water. Water never arrived and she came out with only one sandwich. After opening the sandwich we canceled the second order. Imagine what you would get at McDonalds as a breakfast croissant sandwich....now imagine it soggy, this is what we got. :( Needless to say we will not be back.

5 star donuts!!! Don't let the 4 star rating scare you away. Parking lot was extremely small, a very older place, but now on to the important stuff!! Today for my birthday, I decided i would wake up today somewhere around 8. It happens every morning because I hear my nephews running around getting ready for school, but this time I would STAY up. I went and drove down to Dough in The Box and thought I would love some good neighborhood donuts and coffee. I originally wanted to try out Revolution, but its too far and too expensive for my mood today. Dough in the Box customers raved about cheap prices and really good donuts.. I made my mind up. These ARE really good donuts.. it started me off right. I purchased a Ham and Cheese croissant, which they also heat, for $2 along with around 4 donuts; I had: Guava filled inside of a powder donut (since someone in front of me bought the very last regular one), a apple filled with cinnamon sugar, a buttermilk cake and a vanilla cream. And its true, they DO fill your bag with donut holes for free!! The employees were nice and the donuts are personal and delicious.. really home-town donuts. Another Yelper said "I bought a half dozen and a coffee for $6". It is true.. it is a deal! Will be back soon... or this evening :)

To the point Dough in the Box is awesomely fantastic! 1st let me say that I am a "Hot Light is On" Krispy Kreme fan and Dunkin Donuts is not my thing. 2nd I should probably state that driving from the crux of Johns Creek/Norcross/East Roswell/Alpharetta area (yes we can drive to any of these cities in less than 5 min) means we have absolutely NO BUSINESS going ALL THE WAY to Austell Rd in Marietta just for doughnuts, (yet AND still) we will be back, not often but oh yes we will be back. Thanks Yelpers for pointing us their way, because this bakery has the tastiest mom/pop shop treats that I have had since childhood. We purchased a wide assortment; some to eat there and some to take home...bacon, egg and cheese and ham/cheese croissants, glazed croissants (baked and fried versions), chocolate frosted, apple & blueberry fritters, strawberry & blueberry jelly filled, guava filled, plain glazed, twists - well you get the idea. I think that regular glazed are the true test of a good donut shop and they easily passed with a light texture and perfect (not too sweet) glaze. We are from a small town on the Gulf Coast and this place reminded me of a tiny mom/pop bakery that existed when it was still safe for children to roam the streets alone (did I just tell my age!?)... Any who, if you live within a, dare I say, 20 mile radius and need a delicious doughy bite, get up early, pack up the car and get 'chere. It is worth the trip...don't take my word for it; when leaving I noticed they have a few articles/awards on the wall to prove it.

These are great donuts! Love them! Favorites are Pink Iced, Old Fashioned - glazed and chocolate, and the Buttermilk! They are fresh and super tasty! Every donut you buy, comes with awesome glazed donut holes!!! I

The employees are so friendly and the owners are so sweet. The donuts are superb. They also offer a special flavor of the week and that's always nice to have a fancy flavor. They make custom donuts. Can't forget the little delicious donut holes they give you with every order. No other place like it.

  • Denise G.

I'm not a huge fan of any doughnuts at all - doesn't matter who makes 'em - but I love this place because, in addition to doughnuts - they have these fairly large 'stuffed' croissants. You can have either ham & cheese or, for my non-swine eating population, turkey & cheese. These things are so delicious it's ridiculous. And they're super cheap. The croissant is light and flaky and the chese is real. I always ask them to heat it up in the convection oven so it's still warm when I arrive at work. When I'm there, I usually pick up a box of doughnuts / pastries for my co-workers - and they all love them - especially the fritters. Add to that the folks behind the counter are always friendly and courteous - and you've got yourself a five-star establishment!

Great doughnuts, very reasonable prices, and hands down the best ham egg and cheese croissant I've ever eaten!

Croissants glazed like donuts. Free glazed donut holes tossed into my bag. What's not to like??? This place doesn't look like anything special from the outside, but the donuts are tasty, cheap, and the staff was pleasant. The regular ol' glazed raised donuts were my favorite - fluffy with just enough chewiness, and not sickeningly sweet or oily like some other places.

  • Sandra M.

Wow! I had no idea what to expect inside this modest (to say the least) place. I have passed by it for 10 years wondering what they were doing in there. (I must have been passing by after 2:00pm every time since it always seemed to be closed!) Anyhow, at a Girl Scout event many of the leaders had talked about how impressed they were with this shop, so I decided to give it a try. Ohh my, every person there was so pleasant and helpful, they have a serious selection of doughnuts, croissants and sandwiches, a few tables to sit and eat, and a very homey/comfy vibe. I've now tried quite a few flavors and all were really very impressive...and they always have tossed in a few other things to fill up my box ; ] My challenge is now to get there before they are sold out or closed (around 2pm)...well that, and to try to not eat them all in the car before getting home!

Best doughnuts hands down!!! Made fresh each day. Make sure you come early because they run out.

I stopped by here when I studied at a nursing assistant school down the road. Don't hold me to it, but more than likely, I purchased a coffee with a Boston Creme donut as that's my favorite (hmm, another excuse to go back and experiment!) Overall, I was impressed by the level of service - both speed and friendliness - for as busy as it was. And it is almost always busy. They have a great selection. Tired of Krispy Kreme and want a new place for fresh pastries? Stop on by.

I love businesses that are mom & pop type. This is a really cool one. This was my first time so I decided to get a 6 pack sampler to try out a few (you can judge me....im cool with it). Being in a Krispy Kreme town...you gotta be good to last in the donut business. The blueberry donut is top notch stuff...no artificial flavoring about it. Also...the apple fritter and the cinnamon roll are really delicious. Definitely give it a shot

  • Jeff M.

Dough in the Box is pretty delicious. It's not exactly down the block from Atlanta, but if you have a free morning, it's certainly worth the trek. To those who live in Marietta, I am very jealous. Every town should have a neighborhood doughnut shop like this. The few parking spots is an indicator of goodness. In my travels, the best doughnut places in the country have no more than five parking spots out in front. I don't why why that is. If you're considered elite, you will have no doughnut places in front. Small observation. Inside is strictly business. Minimal decor. But it doesn't matter, because all around are happy people. Most with doughnut remnants still on their faces. Just a couple of bucks and enjoy yourself. Time your trip accordingly. It's open everyday. Sure it opens early (5 AM) and closes early (2:30 PM). But aim to get there closer to 5 AM than to 2:30 PM. When I showed up at about 11 AM, there was more empty space than there was doughnuts. Dough in the Box was out of dough. It was just ... a box. I was able to scramble and get my hands on a few donuts, including a glazed, maple-topped, and buttermilk. All of these were excellent. Particularly the buttermilk, which tasted delicious, but was different in its texture and increased density. Not your usual doughnut, but excellent nonetheless. One day I'm gonna show up at 5 AM with a $20 bill and go nuts!

I love this place. Great food, great people, excellent coffee and very clean. Reminds my husband of the little bakeries back in NY. He's really missed them, so this is a nice surprise. I've been eating their doughnuts for many years now. Apple fritter is my favorite. YUMMY!!! Keep up the great work guys!

  • Nekiba M.

Their apple fritters and cinnamon rolls are the best. Their cinnamon rolls are not your typical overlysized overly sweet cinnamon roll you see at the mall. Very tasty. The apple fritters are huge, nice, and fluffy. Good thing they are now open 7 days a week but catch them early because they close at 3p.m. The mourning I was there they had apple shape donuts with icing to celebrate Teacher Appreciation Week that was a nice touch to a hectic mourning. Always will be a fan.

This is my favorite donut shop in Atlanta! The pastries are always fresh! I used to drive past this place late at night and see the light on... a true sign that the donuts are being made FRESH. I will pass Duncan every time to get to a fresh chocolate iced donut!

I sure do love donuts and the donuts from here are certainly the best in the area. Thick, dense, and doughy, the donuts practically melt in your mouth when you bite into them. My go to flavors are glazed, chocolate, sugar, and old fashioned. I would come here more often if I lived closer however I would probably have to go up a pants size too...

Love the doughnuts and the customer service. I've tried almost every donut they have and I haven't been disappointed yet. Baked fresh daily. While all of the donuts are good, I'm a simple girl so the jelly donut is my absolute favorite. Don't see the jelly doughnut available? Just ask and if possible they'll make it for you right then! Again, the customer service is great!

I love going "LOCAL" for as much as possible, but even if they expanded overnight and built a thousand Dough in The Box bakeries, I would still go! Everything is delicious. I love that they bake and not fry their donuts. I used to love donuts but the ones at Krispy Kreme and Dunkin Donuts gave me indigestion. Never get it from DITB donuts. Their crossaints are fantastic, I buy up several and put them in individual ziploc bags and put them in the freezer for warming and eating later. The cake donuts live up to their name--like little personal cakes. Even more fantastic than their products are the owners and staff. Jesus and Dannia are a great young couple who work hard, support the community, and treat customers like family. My dad was a daily customer until Parkinsons and Alzheimers left him unable to drive or get around by himself. But when I am able to get some help with his wheelchair and can bring him by, he gets a hero's welcome. We even had Dad's 83rd birthday at DITB!

I have been coming here for quite some time now and have never once had an unpleasant experience here. The donuts are really top notch. Super fluffy and very well made. My favorite thing here donut wise is definitely the sour cream old fashion. It is amazing. The one thing I do get every time without a doubt is a ham & cheese croissant. Get it warmed up and its absolutely perfect in the mornings. Very friendly staff as well that I have come to know over the years. Nothing but the best here.

Let me tell you why there will never, ever be another doughnut shop for me... 1. The Doughnut Darlings - the ladies working here are focused on customer service. No one was standing still, every one was doing something - cleaning, pouring coffee, baking goodies like a boss. 2. THE DOUGHNUTS ARE UN-FREAK-IN-BELIEVABLE!!!! These are the best doughnuts I have ever had...hands down. I got a mixed assortment, so please try whatever tickles your fancy. I promise you will not be disappointed. I ordered a 1/2 dozen assorted and a regular coffee (for $5 total) and when I got my box, there were little doughnut holes stuffed in the open spaces....WHAT??? Somebody slap my cause I must be dreamin'! 3. The place, which is nothing fancy, is perfect the way it is...the way a doughnut shop should be. There is a counter for dine-in with a couple of old, regular guys chatting up the The Doughnut Darlings. There is a shiny cooler chock full of anything you could ever want to drink or they have an old school coffee maker with the various accoutrement. But their crowning glory is the clear glass doughnut rising from behind the counter like a veritable Wonderland of doughnuts. From fritters to twists, they have it all. Just a heads up, if you are heading North, it's on the left so you will have to pull a U-turn. Look for the sign pictured...or you could just look for me cause I will most certainly be back!

I drove past this small establishment for months. I always wondered what was going on inside. After all, it didn't look like much from the outside. Now I know I wasted months of my life eating at chains when I could have been eating this deliciousness! Easily the best donuts in town, and probably the cheapest. It is definitely worth the drive. Thankfully, I drive past once or twice a month, and I always stop in.

Went here a couple days a go and the donuts are excellent. Certainly the freshest and lightest anywhere near Marietta. Dania helped me out. She was very friendly and was patient with my doughnut choosing slowness. (I bet that is an inside conversation among doughnut shop owners, the way people take forever to choose doughnuts, lol.) They had Boston Creme, Strawberry, Powdered with Vanilla Creme, Chocolate Glaze Vanilla Creme, and all the other favorites that you might expect at a doughnut shop. One thing I thought was cool was that they have empty doughnuts sitting in the case that they can fill for you so that you don't have to worry about them being out of a certain type of doughnut. They also had doughnut holes. Can't wait to go back! I live in Marietta, but opposite side of where this doughnut shop is, but I don't mind if they have quality doughnuts! I did not try the coffee, so I don't have reference point for you there. Overall. I am definitely a fan of "Dough in the Box"

The doughnuts from Dough In The Box could possibly be the best doughnuts I have ever eaten. The glazed donuts are a perfect mix of sweetness and doughiness and there is no possible way that I can eat just one. I will continue to visit Dough In The Box for all of my doughnut needs!

I like Mom & Pop stores. Or in this case Husband & Wife I believe, and will support small business owners whenever possible. That being said, this business has no need of 'special treatment' as their doughnuts more than hold their own against the big box retailers. Tried this place right after the winter vacation based on reviews. Found it delightful. You have to like a place where the guys who cook also serve you. They were working hard to help all the customers. The doughnuts were mid-sized, bigger than KK but slightly smaller than DD. Very good price point $7 / dozen & you have to like a place that includes most of their varieties in the dozen price. We tried a variety of doughnuts and all were good (even threw in some freebies) but here's my take: Glazed - very close to DD but slightly less doughy (less dense) Chocolate iced - almost identical to KK Vanilla creme - again close to DD in taste and size I reserve 5 stars for my fav place (in Al) but overall, very well done even with similarities to KK & DD and a solid '4'. I will visit again based on their customer service and hometown feel alone

This fat girl knows donuts and the sour cream donuts at this shop is the best. The cake or yeast donuts are better than the filled ones. The donuts are not expensive but they taste better than some that I have paid big bucks for. I love 25 miles away and it is worth the trip. These donuts make me do a happy dance.

Food of the Gods. Ok, let me qualify this statement. I have always liked doughnuts and have always counted on them being heavy and tasteless as are the doughballs of the south that count on the sugar coating to give any taste. I don't know how they do it but these doughnuts are light that they deify nature or the laws of physics. I had to get a buttermilk one to come close to anything comparable. I had no sugar or cream in my coffee and the experience was perfection. By the way I do use cream and sugar at any other time but not with great food. The coffee is great and can hold its own as a place to just have a cup. See you there...

Oh My God Sour Cream Doughnut!!!!! Everything we had here was awesome. The highlight of the box without a doubt was the sour cream. Perfectly perfect in every way. Sweet, but not too sweet, and every bite was moist and tasty tasty good. The rest of the half dozen were also good including the complimentary doughnut holes we received. Boston Creme, chocolate glaze, raised regular glazed, apple fritter and the double chocolate made me want to take the extra trip north and far away for a little pastry loving. They even have a call ahead service just in case you're craving a specific round delight. I was told they runout daily, so probably worth the extra thought. Only draw back is the distance I have to travel which isn't that bad when you get to taste the... wait for it... best doughnuts in Atlanta! Yeah, I said it... Step over KK, DD, and Sublime.... there's a new ring in town.

The doughnuts here are simply amazing. I LOVE their glazed doughnuts, and their apple fritters are particularly delicious, as are the chocolate cakes. Currently I'm in love with their ham and cheese croissants- if Dough In The Box was on my way to work, I would be eating these every morning! If you live in or are just visiting in the area, you *have* to stop by and try some of their tasty treats~ Make sure to stop by early so you can have your pick of their selections... I once made a fatal mistake of craving their doughnuts at 1:30 (they close at 2), and was met with a total of 5 doughnuts. Lesson learned!

For 2 years, every Friday I made the prigrimage to Dough in a Box for an assorted dozen to bring to my office. The Double Chocolate and the Apple Fitters were particularly prized and things could get a little dicey if these were scarfed by persons deemed unworthy. It was a modest operation then, but the hard working and talented Cambodian family owners stuck with it and have now been rewarded with a business success. The business, notwithstanding the brisk traffic, is still unassuming. A couple of tables and some counter stools. My kinda place. I stopped for breakfast one recent morning and was warmly greeted after a long hiatus. A large and tasty ham, egg, and cheese croissant, medium coffee and an assorted half-dozen (not for me but for my long suffering family), $7.00. Thats not a typo, $7.00. As a kid we had 2 family run donought shops within walking distance of my house. The doughnuts these shops made were ethereal, they possessed a delicacy, a lighter than air quality unknown to the lard laden, gut-busters put out by several well known doughnut chains that shall remain nameless. And so it is with Dough in a Box. Old school, handmade, cakes. Expertly done, not over done and remarkably affordable.

I really have no idea why people are rating this place 5 stars. Just like grocery store doughnuts, the only saving grace is its mom and pop and not a chain.

I moved here from California 5 years ago and had been told that KK donuts are the best donuts in town so don't bother to try anything else. Well while spending time in new Orleans I previously tried KK and thought they were way too sweet for my taste so needless to say I wasn't disappointed to find out that my once a month donut addition would have to end! Lol! One day as I was on my way to play tennis I drove passed Dough in the box. I wasn't really sure if it was a good ole fashioned donut shop but thought I'd stop by on my way back home. I stopped in and was impressed with the friendly staff. They asked if it was my first time in and when I told them it was and informed them of my heartbreaking once a month donut fix story they immediately started suggesting their most requested donuts. They also informed me that they follow the west method of making donuts so I should enjoy them. I walked out with half a dozen donuts and was planning on sharing them with my family, needless to say after my first bite the plan went up in flames! :). I ate 4 of the donuts my first day and the remaining 2 the following morning with my morning coffee. They were FAB! The upside, I've found a great donut shop to feed my addition! The downside the once a month addition has now turned into a once a week addiction! Darn those dough in the box folks... I've now added a 45 minute cardio workout to my plan just to accommodate the extra calories!

I cruised by this place late one afternoon turned around to check it out, but only upset myself as they had already closed for the day. So I decided to make it a point to visit between their hours of 5am - 2:30pm the next day so I could see what they had gong on inside. - As soon as I entered the establishment I knew I'd be coming back. Right behind the counter was a huge array of donuts to chose from. I arrived later in the afternoon, so I assumed most of the types I'm a fan of - frosted/jimmied, had been gobbled up by the morning crowd. However, there was still a good amount of jimmied beauties to have at, so I asked that I have all of them boxed up. I also grabbed some pink frosted ones because they were just screaming to be bought up and then grabbed a few neat looking crullers to fill out my first dozen. - The woman behind the counter told me that they do special orders, so if I wanted something special I could call it in and have it made. I smiled and spouted off a few styles and colors I would gladly purchase. She was surprised by I think the immediacy and the boldness of a few of my requests. Then I told her I wasn't buying them to eat, but buying them to use in paintings. I gave her the whole 411 on the process and she became really interested. So I gave her my card so she could check out some of the works online to get a better idea of what I was up too. She probably thought I was some sort of mad man, but she did say to come back and let them know if they could do anything special for me. They would be more than happy to fill my strange requests. - Gotta love small establishments like this. Not only do they create really quality looking wares day-in day-out, but they are also really friendly and eager to get to know their patrons. Reminds me of that feeling you get when you walk into a small town establishment and everyone there is happy to see you and ready to chat over a warm cup of coffee. - I'll definitely be returning to this awesome location. All I need to do now is figure out what sort of madness they can bake up for me. I love it!

Yummy donuts. Period. Both raised and cake were wonderful. Toppings were great- maple, chocolate, frosting.. All great choices. Cake donuts were nice and fluffy- sour cream donuts were great. I didn't try the fritters and cinnamon rolls yet, but I will soon. It's about a 45 min drive for me which is a good thing because I'd stop here WAY too often for my good!!! The price is excellent too $7 a dozen! Check it out.

Lee Y. hits it right on the spot. Best fritters around. I am part of a donut club at work, and I always get compliments when it's my turn to buy. The donuts are less expensive than the large chains; not by much, but come on, how much are you going to make on a donut anyway. The excellent part is that all of the donuts are the same price; there are no "premium pastries" as in other dough-merchants, save the enormous eclair and twist. I personally believe all of Dough-in-the-box's confections are grand. A note to the masses; access to and from this place is a little tricky. You can only access DITB if you're heading SW on Austell RD. Then, in order to head back to dntn Marietta, if that's where you're going, you need to make a U-ie at the next light down. Not an easy task if it's rush hour. Oh and don't try to drive around the back of the store to turn around. Fruitless.

I lived in Marietta for a bit and found this place through my roommate. GO HERE!!!! If you are ever in the weirdest place on earth (Marietta) you have to try it. Get the blueberry fritter. Oh, they give you FREE dognut holes but the coffee sucks, so you'll have to wait to get to the city to get some good.

I love the donuts here. When I first started coming here it was owned by a Cambodian family. The lady was so sweet but she sold the store but her son stayed to help out from what I hear. I went back recently and saw a whole new staff so I have no idea what's going on. Donuts were still good though.

So my first time in Marietta in about 6 years. So I wanted to show my group a good palce to get some breakfast before we headed out to Smyrna for class. I found this place on yelp and saw the reviews. I sepnt $2 got an apple fritter and a cup of coffee, plus they gave me some extra mini munchkin on top of that for free. My group loved it and the price was amazing. I'm a Dunkins man but this palce it was the best apple fritter I had and one of my guys said it was the best donuts he has ever had. Highly recommend this place if you go by it. Totally worth it, my kind of place, cheap, good, fresh.

These donuts hit the spot. Everything I tried was great. The employees were friendly and the place was clean. The Apple Fitters were good as well as the sour cream donuts. Anyone in the area that likes donuts should try them out. Even their bagels were good.

The donuts we got were very good. The glazed and holes are light and tasty. I only got 1 of the apple fritters, my wife laid claim to the rest. We'll be going back.

After the yelp donut craze, I feel compelled to inform you dear reader; Don't believe the hype. If you are in search of truly good, homemade, small batch donuts, Then trek your ass outside the perimeter to Dough in a Box. When I dream of donut, as I often do, I conjure images of sweet, cake-like, fried, frosted spheres. I do not need a "new flavor" of donut. I need done right donut. This little joint is a family owned and run establishment. Without hype or overpriced candy bar replicates. I have sampled one of every item that they offer. All are perfect examples of how it should be. Light and slightly chewy. Sweet and super tasty. The blueberry and chocolate cake are my favorites. Also, the chocolate frosted , plain cake and cinnamon sugar are divine. The fritters are terrific,. Glazed, fried , dough? How could they not be awesome? Unlike the fritters in California from Happy Donut, they do not taste like fried rice. They have coffee, juice and milk to accompany your dough in the box. Again, it's not fancy. Nor do they have an espresso machine or wifi. However , the donuts speak for themselves. I believe they are saying "EAT ME!"

A coworker brings in fritters from here occasionally and they are the best. Perfectly fried. Slightly crispy on the outside. Doughy / chewy on the inside. Donuts are nothing to sneeze at either.

I don't always eat dough-nuts but when I do I prefer Dough In A Box . The service is good, family owned business often have better service. The only reason they don't have 5 stars is they are a kind of bad food choice but I don't always eat dough-nuts.
