My husband and I have dined at Chequers for several special occasions and have thoroughly enjoyed the experience. We are elated that they relocated to E Cobb and are now so convenient for us. Our meals were delicious and the service was impeccable. We will definitely be returning.

Tonight was our first visit to Chequers. The food was excellent and the service was phenomenal. John was our server and he was a pro. I asked for my shrimp and grits without the pepper, John checked with the Chef and quickly came back and told us that it would be no problem. I eat out a lot all over the country and those were the best shrimp and grits I've ever had. Thanks to the staff of Chequers for providing such great food, atmosphere, and service, for my wife and I as we celebrated my birthday.

Awesome food and Awesome service. I had the shrimp and grits, which were excellent. My brother had the Almond crusted Mahi Mahi, which literally looked too good to eat. So glad to see the servers work together taking care of all the guest. Instead of only seeing to the needs of guest in their own section.

This is a great place to be. served for your Birthday Dinner. The atmosphere is very nice. My sister and her husband took me out. I enjoyed the salad it was light and tasty. I also had a roll it was sweet and warm it was more like a biscuit. I had steak and a lobster tail, baked potato it was covered on the outside with salt.the steak had a good taste and the lobster tail was dynamic, delicious, wonderful. All in all my food was fit for a Queen, and that's what a Birthday Woman supposed to feel like!

A nice addition to the growing E Cobb dining scene. Chequers always has had great seafood and that hasn't changed. Service and the ambiance at their new location is top notch. The happy hour special is a good one. As for dinner, very good. My grilled tuna and the wife's grilled mahi were both excellent. Our sides were nicely done, too. One suggestion I would have is seeing, and pricing, a smaller portion as an option. Otherwise, I'm afraid Chequers is priced at expense account levels.

This places goes more downhill every time we come here. They started off strong when they first opened this location. Food used to be good but now I feel like the prep is lazy and thoughtless. Also, I believe their menu says "our seasonal selections" at the top, but I swear I haven't seen almost anything change in the last year. Same steak choices, chicken, lobster cobb salad, etc etc, the only thing I noticed that was different is they took away the Brussels sprouts side item. In addition, I find one of the bartenders extremely off-putting and non-attentive. I have had multiple encounters with this same gentleman and I feel like he literally does not care who sits at his bar. I will probably not return; it's just been too disappointing for this kind of money. What a shame, the bar area is absolutely beautiful and romantic, but I can find other places.

Tried them out on this past Friday for my Boyfriend's Birthday. We made reservations but ended up being a little late. It wasn't a probably because the place wasn't crowded at all. Our sever quickly took good care of us! We ordered cocktails. I had a Moscow Mule and he had Hennessy on the rocks. Ive been wanting to try a Moscow Mule for the longest. I will be sure to keep it in rotation lol. I enjoyed it! I ordered the Surf & Turf which included a Maryland Lump Crab Cake and a 6oz Filet(there are other options for surf and turf on the menu). My sides were Grilled Asparagus and Lobster Mac & Cheese. I fully enjoyed ever single bite!!!! No left overs for me. My hunny ordered a Rib Eye with Roasted Parmesan Potatoes and Lobster Mac & Cheese. He cleaned his plate as well. It's safe to say we will be returning! If you haven't been, what are waiting for?

Just finished my Birthday dinner (my birthday is/was 8Aug15). They're always so kind to send me a free birthday dinner email and this year, I used it! I had the best fresh halibut I've have in years and my partner had scallops that were delicious! And, to make the experience even more unknowingly appealing/inviting, wines under $100 a bottle are 1/2 price on Sunday's! WOW! Also, my birthday dessert, Carrot Cake, was the best I've ever had and I make great carrot cake! Oh! And ask for Jason (the server) he's a true PRO!

I went for dinner after hearing rave reviews only to discover a place with dirty glassware, food that I would never serve at my house let alone sell to someone. Their bouillabaisse was essentially steamed shellfish in a thin tomato stock resulting in chewy protein and subpar flavour. Their crab cakes were the only item we ordered that was alright. I would rather have spent the same amount at the other checkers and have given the food to the poor.

First, let me just say that I can appreciate that the manager reached out to me regarding my last visit. It's not everyday that you find a restaurant that genuinely cares about the type of experience their guest has so kudos to Brantley. This was my friend and I's second time coming back even though we had a pretty bad experience last time. After speaking with the manager, we decided to give it another try. We made a reservation this time. We arrived a few minutes early and were greeted by two friendly hosts. Although I think one was a waiter but still friendly. We were promptly seated in the dining room. That's a +. The manager came over and introduced himself and told us that our server is one of the best so we were pleased with that. Our server, Tony (if I'm not mistaken), really made it a great experience this time around. He made great suggestions, he made sure to let us know that our food was on the way out, made sure that we were doing ok. Basically just excellent customer service. The food was delicious. As it was the last time. I had the Almond Encrusted Mahi Mahi with whipped potatoes and asparagus. The almond crust on the fish was so crunchy and rich, a great pairing with the mahi especially since mahi can be a little bland. The potatoes were smooth and yummy. I didn't have the giant sized asparagus that I had the last time. It was normal sized asparagus and it was tasty! Side note: Those biscuits that they bring around are absolutely sinful and you HAVE to have at least one. My God...it's awful how good they are!! We even had a piece of carrot cake to go. So pleased this time around. Chequers Seafood + Steak definitely redeemed themselves! I'm looking forward to returning and I'm looking forward to trying the brunch in the future!!

I have always loved Chequers. It's a little further from me now that the restaurant has moved to Marietta but still delicious nonetheless. I believe this place is the first time I tried lobster macaroni and cheese. I get a coupon around my birthday every year for a free entree or $25 off and a free birthday dessert. Of course Bari and I had to take advantage of the coupon and make our way to Cobb County. I got the surf and turf. 4oz filet mignon and crab cake with a side of asparagus and - of course - the lobster macaroni and cheese! Awesome sauce!!!!! My steak was cooked to perfect and the crab cake was simply a 10 out of 10. The lobster mac was just as good as I remember but maybe a tad bit better. The biscuits they give you before you order are a little sweeter than most but I love them. Our appetizer was the calamari. I love it. love this place! love everything. of course I'll be back soon.

Went to celebrate special occasion at Chequers for the first time. It was OK, nothing special. Liked the biscuits; they are sweet. The SHELLFISH BOUILLABAISSE I had was Not very flavorful, some piece of fish were overcooked; nothing I would ever order again. Tried a little piece of Halibut - it was bland. Tried Crab - it was pretty good. I would go back for their specials. Right now they offer at the Bar + Lounge Mon-Fri: $7 appetizers $1 oysters $3.50 Lobster Claws Restaurant specials Mon-Thur: $8 House Wines & Bubbles $1 off Beers - draft & bottles $7 Drink Specials CARROT CAKE and CHOCOLATE VELVET CAKE were both amazing, very rich. The service was great.

I had my birthday dinner here with 8 guests and we were all blown away by the experience! The restaurant had fantastic decor and the vibe was very intimate. Our private table was in a separate area where we could enjoy each other's company. The food and wait staff were exquisite and the Chequers margarita was top notch! The fish that everyone had was fresh and flavorful! The steak was seasoned well and tender. I would definitely recommend Chequers as an dining experience that you should endure! Oh yea.....because I had subscribed to their email previously, my birthday dinner was free as they emailed me a voucher for a free meal. They also provided me with a free voucher for Their fantastic Sunday Brunch. What more could I ask for from such a exquisite establishment!

My wife and I wanted to celebrate our anniversary at a nice restaurant and my wife had a craving for seafood. Having researched the "better" restaurants in this category, I chose Chequers. This was our first visit to the Roswell Road location, however, we have dined at the Perimeter restaurant in the past (although it's been several years.) I made our reservations online for Saturday at 4:00 and requested a quiet booth for us to enjoy our time. I noticed on their website that their preferred dress code was business casual. This prompted a quick wardrobe change before we left. After all, we want to maintain the decorum of the restaurant. Upon our arrival (the first to arrive), we were welcomed promptly and seated in just the right location. We appreciated the ambience and lighting as we were seated. Having studied the menu online before we left, we knew what we were going to order. Our server brought us fresh, hot from the oven biscuits served with a whipped honey butter. They were tasty, but crumbly. I used my fork to eat mine to avoid making a mess. We ordered the Heirloom Tomato Salad as an appetizer. The salad was dressed with Arugula, mozzarella, a unique basil ice cream and a balsamic glaze. This was a marvelous blend of veggies and flavors. My wife said it was so good, she wished she could have licked the bowl! My wife ordered the Maple Plank Cedar Salmon, which was bourbon glazed, and came with Yukon mashed potatoes and green beans with pecans. She has tried cedar plank salmon in many restaurants and found this to be the best. She said the mashed potatoes were pretty good and enjoyed the green beans with pecans. The pecans had a nice tang to them. I ordered the Surf & Turf combo with a 4 oz. filet and substituted Wood-Grilled Bourbon Maple Shrimp for the Fried Shrimp. I selected the green beans with pecans and Parmesan-Herb Roasted Yukon Potatoes as my sides. The filet was fork tender, delicious and cooked to perfection. I give high marks for the wood grilled bourbon maple shrimp also. I enjoyed the fresh green beans with pecans, but was not as impressed with the parmesan-herb roasted Yukon potatoes. They were flavorful, however, I like a crispier, thin-sliced potato. We did not order drinks or dessert and with the coupon we received for signing up for their promotions, our bill with tip came to $66.00. We left satisfied and agreed that we may return soon for my wife's birthday. However, we noticed that the subsequent diners that came in after us were casually dressed, the men in shorts and even a t-shirt! I guess we over-dressed and will tone it down on our next visit!

Good food with a great culinary style. Happy hour $1 oysters are very good, and there is a wide selection to choose from. Sign-up for their email club and they send discounts and free meals for birthdays. Cool atmosphere too.

My dinner at Chequers was a great way to celebrate my birthday with my wife. My swordfish was delicious, and the sides were both unusual and excellent. Finishing off the meal with chocolate mousse cake 'on the house' left me full, but quite content! The wait staff was friendly and professional from beginning to end. Thanks, guys.

This place was really good. It's a bit pricey, but the quality and quantity makes it worth it. Came here for Sunday brunch and what a treat. Word to the wise, sample the buffet line before getting too full on the first pass thru like I did. I missed the Seafood stuffing at first and then I was too full to eat more than a spoon of it. And it was delicious. Full dessert bar complete with a chocolate fountain. Everything was fresh and tasted good. Come hungry!

Attended a wine tasting on May 28th and had dinner afterwards. The service at the wine tasting was great as usual. The food pairings with the wines were impeccable. Well worth the price! Afterwards, dinner was great and I will definitely continue to patronize this restaurant. My go to spot for wine tasting and special occasions!

Not a $40 steak, but rest of meal was good. Go for the seafood. Service and ambiance was good. Close to home so nice on the convenience factor. Go elsewhere if you want a great steak.

You can't do better than Chequers for a special occasion restaurant. We love this place and celebrate there with others, or, just have a special twosome meal. We enjoy eating our dinner at the bar, where, we get treated like someone special. The food is outstanding! Last night we had popcorn shrimp as an entrée but loved those Bluepoint oysters as an appetizer! WOW, we are so fortunate to have a convenient, super friendly, great food restaurant near us. Love it.

This was my second visit to chequers. The first was at the perimeter location before they moved. It was excellent. This visit was mediocre at best. There were three bartenders who were catering to the regular at the bar. We watched the female bartender drink Starbucks and chat to the regular about someone getting there ear sucked on at the bar. My girlfriend and I couldn't wait to leave. We ordered happy hour crab claws which were overcooked and a couple more items that didn't impress.

I must admit my curiosity to try this place was one to see what truly replaced Houlihan's, and two because my parents got a coupon in the mail. As much as I miss what Houlihan's used to be and going to dine in this location back then I will agree it was not quite up to par near the end which is probably why it closed. Chequers has done a good job utilizing what was left and working at Houlihan's and remodeling and updating other parts. I still think Chequers is trying to be more highbrow than it really is but that's okay. With the coupon, the prices were pretty fair and the food was definitely delicious there is no denying that. Without the coupon I think it's just a few dollars priced too high. That's why I deducted the one star but not to say that I wouldn't come back again. They served you fresh-baked biscuits and with honey butter to start while you chose your appetizer entrée and dessert. We ended up enjoying the biscuits and not getting an appetizer but we each got an entrée and each of them was delicious. I'd have to say my dad's prime steak was the best and surprisingly a dollar less expensive than my scallops so again prices weren't quite what I expected; we probably would've paid 10 more dollars from my dads dish but I definitely think my scallops should've been five dollars less. They are steak and seafood place see you cant wrong with the meal options. The desserts seems very complex, way too many flavors going on and I wish there was a little more variety as far as simplistic options go... not 10 choices that all had some type of ice cream on the side and four different flavors of drizzle versus relish versus peanut butter and chocolate whatever's. My suggestion to Chqeuers, have your dessert scaled back a bit and focus more on training your waiters to explain the different types of steaks and today's specials versus regular dinner items; know your product, know your consumer's expectations, you'll get there... you're pretty good already though, so don't worry we will be back.

Had a bad experience tonight and disappointed in how not handled. Went to the old location at Perimeter and was glad it was closer to home here. We went for a 6:30 Reservation of 3 for the Prix Fixe meal for Thanksgiving. All of the entrees were good and the steak was excellent. The big disappointment for all of us was that both the women in the party wanted the creme brulee since they were fans and I was of the apple crustade. We were told that they apparently ran out and all that was left was pumpkin cheesecake, pumpkin pie or mixed berries; manager never came by for us to relay that we all hated pumpkin and not in the mood for berries so no desert - big miss there. Surprised the waitress never relayed that and no manager came to talk to us which to me if you have an issue or THREE you should. Considering other nearby places such as Aspen, et al are similar in type thought they should be a bit more on the ball. When you pay out over $100 into a meal you expect any manager to come over to you to at least check, especially true of Ruth Chris, Mortons, Aspens, Stony River, Ray's or any of the places I normally go to, guess for the 90 min we weren't on that list.

Omg the Sunday brunch. It is decadent and worth the price. Be sure to work your way slowly through the line as I missed some tasty gems the first time through. It's not something I would want all the time but I would definitely recommend this restaurant for a special occasion. The service was pretty good. The food is in two spots. I was amazed at how clean the bathroom was.

  • Teresa S.

Food excellent; service deplorable. If you are spending over $200 for dinner for 3, it shouldn't be necessary to have to ask more than once for the server to get a drink order or ask others to get your server to pick up the credit card after waiting 20 minutes. Other area restaurants in the area will get our business.

We were looking for a new seafood place so we thought we'd try out chequers. We arrived to a nearly empty parking lot and thought they were closed. They weren't, there were a couple of diners inside so we went in. The hostess was chatting it up with a server and didn't greet us. We waited patiently, and waited, and then waited some more. It became slightly amusing since so much time passed, but it's so unacceptable. We ended up walking out, first impressions do count!

  • Nestlee M.

Disappointment. Mediocre waitress. Caesar salad just average. Rolls appeared after salads finished. One entree was under-cooked and had to be sent back. Side of vegetables were almost cold. Other entrée luke warm. The 'parmesan crisp' with the Caesar had strange after-taste. Before wine, we spent $50 each ... and there are so many other restaurants where that gets you a much better meal/experience.

My husband and I had dinner at the new Chequers in Marietta last night, and it was so great! This was our first time at a Chequers and we had no idea what to expect. The atmosphere was romantic and the restaurant has a sophisticated elegance. We told our waiter that it was our first time, so he brought us two soups on the house with our fresh rolls! The lobster bisque was some of the best I've had, hands down. The other was a seafood gumbo-style concoction that was good, but too spicy for my taste. For the entree, I had the Jumbo Lump Crab Cakes with a baked potato and grilled asparagus. The crab cakes with the reomoulade were so fresh, melt in your mouth good. The sides were good, but nothing too crazy, pretty standard. My husband had the Rainbow Trout with parmesan yukon potatoes and a premium side - Mushrooms in Truffle Oil. And oh were they premium.. sooo good and served in a hot mini pot on your plate. The fish was very fresh as well, exactly what we hoped for after our waiter's raving review. We were so stuffed that we turned down dessert, but.. the waiter brought us a carrot cake in a to-go box also on the house. Amazing service at this restaurant, a little higher price for high quality food, great place for a date, drinks at the bar, or even for a larger party. Also, the carrot cake was the absolute BEST piece of beautiful cake that we had ever had (and I don't typically even like carrot cake). Can't wait to go back. Thanks for a tasty night, Chequers!

Went to visit Chequer's at East Cobb today. And the food was awesome, just like when it was at Perimeter. But the beautiful blonde hostess, Donna made our experience better than it had ever been. She asked us how our day had been and made us feel so welcome at the new location. Her positive attitude brings an awesome vibe into the whole experience at the restaurant. We had good service from our server, but both my date and I wished Donna had waited on us.

I'm giving this place 3 stars because in today's world, good food isn't enough anymore. We had a company Christmas dinner there. And upon arrival the welcoming was not warm. We had called earlier that day to confirm how we wanted the table set up with white tablecloths, so there are no excuses for not having it done 3 hours later. We arrived 30 minutes before the dinner started with Xmas decor in tow, only to find out that they had not placed the tablecloths on and we were not able to decorate the table immediately. I informed the girl at the front desk that I had called several hours prior to make sure that this would happen before we got there. She then gave me a very snarky snappy answer and her hateful piercing eyes seem to slice right through me. "we're going to do it right now ma'am" she said as she marched away and whispered something to someone else who then looked over at me and gave us another dirty look. No apology at all. They just kept telling us in a irritable tone as we're waiting for them to totally reset the table for 14 people," it'll be okay...we'll get it set up for you don't worry" again I reiterate, not one person apologized. I know it's going to be okay, I don't appreciate a condescending tone, and the fact is is that no one apologized and the attitude on top of it made me want to immediately turn around and leave. When you're dropping $1400 at a place, you don't expect to be treated like that. Someone needs to train these women they're in the service industry and apologizing is always the *first* thing that you do. You don't want to make the customer feel like they're bothering you, in fact customers are the reason you have a job. The only redeeming qualities of this restaurant was a great waiter that night and a great bartender, plus the food was fresh and enjoyable. If you can get through the icy, snarky unprofessional reception I'm sure you'll enjoy yourself. That's the suburbs I guess.

We went here Christmas Eve 2014 and were amazed at the caliber of food and we loved the atmosphere. It's better food across the board and at every course then seed, zeal, ritters, red sky, and all the east Cobb establishments. From the salads to the appetizers to main courses it was perfection. Not too heavy, not too light ,not too anything. It was perfection.

My husband and I revisited Chequers recently and everything was excellent. We had the lobster bisque which is amazing and my husbands grouper was cooked perfectly. The tuna was also a standout. Everything came out fresh and just prepared. Brantley, Victoria, and Bernadette took great care of us. This is our new go to!

I've been to the previous location many times, especially on Sunday for their brunch, which was amazing. We've also been to Houlihan's (which was where the current Chequers is) and theirs was terrible. For reasons unknown to me Chequers adopted Houlihan's style of buffet. Houlihan's went out of business so I'm not quite sure why they would copy their practices in anything, but that's none of my business. Bottom line is their "New" brunch is terrible. Especially for $28

This was our second visit to Chequers at its new location and this time to celebrate my birthday. The experience could not have been more pleasant. Everyone was friendly and professional (attentive but not annoying). The service was prompt and the delicious food was served hot. Love the the warm biscuits as well! The meal ended with a complimentary chocolate mousse cake with homemade raspberry ice cream and a cute little pink candle. On top of that, we received a $25 discount. What a great way to celebrate! We will definitely return!

Disappointed. All levels failed. Service was inattentive and mediocre at best. I do not feel it provided value for the price. I left there feeling like my money would have been spent better at a fast food restaurant. This place no way compares to other premium steakhouses such as mortons ruth chris in or little alley in roswell

Chequers is always outstanding for both service and quality of their food. Servers, hosts and hostesses along with their fine managers always provide the best possible dining experience. The addition of plants will make outside dining a pleasure. Food is prepared to your preference and nutritional needs and is always flavorful. The atmosphere is warm and inviting from the moment you enter. The Early Catch Menu makes dining extremely reasonable. We see the same repeat diners at every Sunday Brunch and everyone is always more than pleased. Food is replenished at the proper time and is always presented well and at the right temperature. Service is always at the proper pace and servers and all the staff are customer service oriented. Dining at Chequers is a pleasure. We love the salmon and scallops as well as the carving station and omelet station at the brunch. I love the salads, vegetables, fruit and blintzes and everyone enjoys the chocolate fountain with the best strawberries we have had. I love that they will have a room for private parties. We recommend Chequers highly and feel fortunate that they are now in East Cobb.

Very good food, but VERY expensive. Be prepared to spend abt. $100 for iced tea, appetizer & dinner only, no drinks or desert. Glad I had a coupon to bail out my hostess! Great service by Lindsey.

Today was my dad's 80th birthday and we took him to Chequers/East Cobb, and this is the place you want to take a special person on their birthday, or any occasion for that matter! Our server, Kristina, treated my dad like a king. She was a natural. We all fell in love with her and she really took great care of us. While the service was definitely outstanding, I have to say that the food was right on par! All seven of us loved our meals, and what stood out to me personally was how appetizing and clean their plate presentation was. You just knew it was going to taste good by looking at it. Their carrot cake was divine, btw. Great restaurant - - we highly recommend it!

After 2 dozen oysters, crab cakes, and vietnamese spring role, I have to say marietta finally has a restaurant worth going to. My hubby and I celebrated our V day late and came here for happy hour. Service was great and food was fantastic. Love the happy hour prices!!!

They try to seat us at a tiny table when the restaurant is mostly empty and plenty of good sized tables are available. The sign outside the door says "$6 drink specials" but the waitress says that is only for the Margarita tonight. Just one hassle after another so we walked out. Not worth the effort.

Have always enjoyed Chequers. Great food, and service. The birthday coupon is a wonderful thank-you to their loyal customers, and $25 is a great incentive to return , and makes you happy to share a good review. Smart marketing. Kudos to Kristina K , our super server.

A mixed review for our first trip there. Food was solid - both had different grilled fish and they were great along with good sides. Service was the issue. Drinks took almost 20 minutes to arrive and server was oblivious to delay. When they did arrive, waiter slopped 1/3 of my drink on the table (and me) and did not offer a replacement or a comp. Overall lack of experience on server and the rest of the teams part were a big detriment - at this price point you expect and deserve top notch service. Food quality will make us give it another chance.

I am so excited to have this restaurant on my side of town! It's one of my absolute favorites. I dined there on day two of their opening and was thrilled to see some familiar faces among the staff, specifically Tony who has been with them since 1989. The wine list is still superb sporting Nickel & Nickel, Chalk Hill and Cakebread to name a few. We had the Lobster Roll for an appetizer and it was fantastic. If you are a connoisseur of really good clam chowder, this is your place. I ordered the Red Snapper and one of my guests ordered the swordfish. Both were cooked to perfection and very tasty. We ended our dinner with an apple croustade...which we fought over because it was so good. If I had to pick out a negative...I don't care for the salt and pepper shaker. Great for date night , anniversary and birthday celebrations or just a nice meal by yourself at the bar (which is beautiful, btw).

Heard good things (and had a coupon) so we went for our Anniversary dinner. Everyone friendly when seated, thought the restaurant was dark. Busboy was attentive bringing biscuits (which I thought were too sweet) and filling water glasses. The waiter didn't mention any specials which we thought was weird but later we heard another waiter telling the next table about specials. My wife had wanted the Halibut but it wasn't "in season". We ordered soups, her's a lobster bisque and mine the gumbo. Both arrived quickly and were pretty good, the gumbo with a nice kick. Our entrees also came quickly. My wife got the fried shrimp which were OK, not great, esp for $22. I thought they had a funny taste like it was old oil. Her mashed potatoes were not hot. I got the bouillabaisse for $29. It had decent flavor but all the seafood was overcooked and rubbery except the scallops which were OK. Lobster, shrimp, mussels, clams and baby squid weren't. Dissapointed best describes how we felt despite the coupon making our bill reasonable.

Overall, great experience! The food was amazing, the service was great. We did have a few issues (the server forgot to put in our appetizer, part of my husband's entrée was incorrect, double charged us for an item), but the server apologized and took care of each issue immediately (i.e. brought my husband an entire new plate, comped our appetizer). I value great service and places that are willing to make the customer whole! Will definitely dine here again, no question!

Chequers is our favorite steak and seafood place -- and just gets better and better! I always loved the old Dunwoody restaurant, but I must admit the new East Cobb location is growing on me. It is airy and chic, but still has the relaxed charm of the old location. I ordered a filet mignon which turned out to be every bit as tender and flavorful as the Capital Grille! My husband ordered a crab cake that was just heavenly, paired with grilled asparagus. Our servers, Malcolm and Jamie, were outstanding, and the preparation and presentation of our entrees was top-notch. For dessert we shared a piece of carrot cake so rich with caramel filling and a cream cheese frosting so amazing, I nearly slapped him for the last bite. Instead I settled for a promise to go back soon!

If you want seafood, this is the place. The new Chequers location is great! Roman - our server - was informative and attentive without crowding. The atmosphere is nice and reminds me of Houston's on Northside. Not quite as dark. We used to go to the old location at Perimeter. The location was a pain, the decor was getting a little long in the tooth, it was a trek for us. BF had the Char Crusted Ahi and he likes it super rare. It was perfect. He also had the lobster mac which was very good. Rich, but good. The tomato topping on the asparagus added the extra touch. I enjoyed the halibut. Cooked perfectly. Fresh and melts in your mouth. I am not sure where the negative reviews are coming from. They could beef up their cocktail menu, it's not the most creative. But, the ingredients are fresh not syrupy mixers. We had the above mentioned, a martini, 2 beers and our bill was $85. We easily spend $65 at Pappadeaux - which is good, but not on the same level. I think it's a good value - you get what you pay for type thing. Maybe the earlier reviewers, that went on the Saturday opening night or the couple weeks after, did have long wait, but I think after being in the space for a month or so, they may have worked through any server and logistics issues. I say you are doing yourself a disservice if you don't give it a shot. Especially since there are so few fresh seafood options in and around Atlanta. We almost didn't go because of the reviews and that would have been a shame. Far better than Seed. Maybe not as trendy, but so much better. We'll be back.

We have been delighted with Chequers for many years and now that they are in East Cobb we are regulars. The seafood is fantastic, the biscuits alone are worth the visit, and desserts are delicious, and the service is excellent. Highly recommended.

Visited this restaurant on the first Saturday night of their opening week in East Cobb. I had fond memories of the Chequers at Perimeter. This is not the same restaurant. It replaced Houlihan's and still looks like it, although with some decor upgrades and cool looking bar. It took 15-20 minutes to get our 4-drink order to the table. Seafood sampler appetizer was just average and way overpriced. Long wait for main courses, after server had to stop by and say that they hadn't forgotten about us. My seafood bouillabaisse was lukewarm and, again, average. I do not see a reason to go back here, especially given the high prices. There are now plenty of good restaurants in East Cobb, and this ain't one of them.

We celebrated Thanksgiving today at Chequers Seafood and Grill. This is the first time they had a Prix Fixe format and not a buffet. What a wonderful change. My wife and I had a baby green and balsamic vinegaret, roast turkey, sausage dressing, cranberry sauce, mashed potatoes, and green beans for the main course. We had Apple croustade for desert with their custom ice cream. What a great meal. I could not expect a single thing more. We were visited several times by the general manager during dinner. A very special event. If you are going to eat in the Atlanta area, Chequers is a must.
