I love love love this place! This is now one of my favorite places to go for lunch. If you're a hot dog lover like I am, you've got to try Barkers out. The food is inexpensive and the customer service is EXCELLENT! They also serve items other than hot dogs, and their onion rings are really good. They have all beef hot dogs also which is what I prefer. My mom comes here once a week so that should tell you something :).

Ordered a jumbo dog and fries and the dog was huge! Met the owner and he seems really nice. It was busy and there was a small wait while the food cooked, but it is worth it. Love this place.

im really not that big of a fan......and probably wouldnt try it again.... i gave it 2 chances and both were not good........ REALLY close to work so I went for lunch with coworkers. Seating is pretty limited, so both times we had to split into a couple diff tables. Line is pretty long during lunch, but moves relatively quickly. 1st time. I didnt get a 'barkers famous charcoaled broiled red hot'.....my bad. got a sausage instead....the 'royal italian sausage' to be exact. overall, it was not good. the heaping spoonful of mayo and their 'famous hot sauce' (which in reality is sweet and chunky/salsaish) didnt help. horrible horrible, didnt finish it horrible. The only positive out of this experience was probs my coworkers watching and laughing AT me try to stuff this hugeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee sandwich in my mouth and eventrually having to get a fork/knife. 2nd. got the 'jumbo all beef barkers red hot' and REALLY, it was just ok. although it looked SO amazing when it was on the grill--charred and hot, but the flavor really didnt stand out. the texture was also not pleasing. the casing was not 'casing like' and "crisp" (for a lack of a better word) when you bite into it. nor was there any smoky flavor as you usually would get when you grill hot dogs. overall just disappointing. :( price is decent for lunch....but not so good for a hot dog haha. pros: the cookies are good ha. i like costo polish sausages better. nom nom nom

Hot friggin' damn. Came here for lunch today after an unnecessarily tortuous hour of trying to figure out where to go. Durh! I got an all-beef jumbo dog with ketchup, mustard, onions, relish, chili, and cheese. Yum. Pickle on the side. And a side of baked beans (you have a choice of getting it served hot or cold!). But but but but butbutBUT.... the absolute BEST part as I am sure I have mentioned before are the brownie bites... a delicious, moist, and soft hybrid of a brownie and a cookie packed with chocolaty goodness and dusted with powdered sugar. I don't even LIKE sweets and I swear I will faint from one of these. They weren't in the display case when I checked out but I asked the lady and she said she had some in the back... you know what that means? FRESH freaking out the oven. Yeaaaah. Oh yeah, I got really great service too!

Easily the finest dog in the metro, Barkers has a place in my heart as well as my stomach. What could possibly be so great about a little log of sausage love? Well, let me tell ya, its all about the charcoal. Cooked when you order them, not a second sooner, over the flames which dance and flicker while filling the air with little flecks of ember and the smell of a really great dog. Topped with a sweetly tangy slaw, some original yellow mustard and a pickle spear - just the way I like it, was something I would liken to a religious experience, if hot dogs were a religion, that is. Their onion rings were made with sweet onions, beer battered, and fried to a golden perfection. No salt needed to doctor up these rings, kids! But the most impressive part? The place is flippin' IMMACULATE. Easily the cleanest eatery I've ever been in. Even the decor is amazing. the washed floorboards, the brightly colored walls and even the amazing striped pendant light fixtures! Bonus points for piping in sounds of the shore - seagulls, waves... a short mental vacation while waiting for your dog to be crafted to perfection... Go on... you know you want a hot dog now...

I love Barkers Red Hots. They have the best hotdogs in Atlanta. The only reason Im giving this place three stars is because their hours can be erratic. The last few times I went they were closed during their normal business hours. That can be a huge dissapointment when you really want a juicy hotdog. ***************** Update: Barkers has updated their hours, so now I know exactly when to go! Like I said before the erratic hours were my only pet peeve about this place, now since I know exactly when they will be open I have no issues.

Hot dogs. Beach theme. Whats not to like? The hot dogs are cooked over a charcoal fire and cooked to order. They hand prepare the dogs in front of you with the toppings of your choice and also hand prepare their rings and fries. The place is spotless and the owner was very conversational and seemed like he was glad to be there and helping you (a rarity these days!) Definitely would go back there!

This place is at least interesting - the hot dogs are slightly better than what you get at Costco and the place always seems to be really busy for lunch (and I do have a few co-workers who make it a point to go here). They don't have a lot of seating and I thought the fries were mediocre. Its also expensive for what you get. I'll stick to by $1.50 costco hot dog and drink special before coming back here.

If you are in the mood for a hot dog this is the place to come. They are cooked on an open coal grill so they get that nice charred texture and the fries are pretty good as well. They play beachy music and he decor is like a boardwalk. So all in all not a bad place for something different.

Not many people realize that there is an art to cooking a hot dog. When we think of hot dogs, we think of slapping ballparks onto the grill and letting then cook. Exactly what you will NOT find here is a ignored and lonely hot dog. Barkers has the absolute best hot dogs and grill master in Atlanta! When I lived in NJ I would frequent a well known spot in Long Branch known as Max's...best hot dogs along the jersey shore. Barkers is comparable in every aspect! The staff is always cheerful and polite and food quality is always consistent. The gentleman in charge of grilling is a true artist and you can watch how focused and meticulous he is. So glad I live less than 2 miles away!!

I used to to stop by this hot dog stand in Midtown, just outside of the Woodruff Arts Center on P'Tree, years ago. They had damn good dogs, crispy on the outside, juicy on the outside, ridiculous amounts of condiments. Loved it. Come to find out that these folks opened up a stand alone store off of Windy Hill Road. I'm stoked! Let me just say that walking in....I didn't expect all the COLOR, not a bad thing, I suppose, a little off-putting. I think they're trying to emulate a beach/coastal feel. The "sounds" of seagulls, as you're trying to order, was a little loud. More amusing than anything. Ordering is a breeze. I went for the original with chili, fries and a drink. The woman offered a sample of their Loganberry drink, not a fan of it. The red hot has some good flavor! The chili was just right. You have to love crinkle fries that come with their own forks. Always been a fan of that.

the signature dog is ok, kinda weird with the sweet pickle on top. i'm not a fan. The chili dog was pretty good. I think the beef dog is the way to go. I love the grilled flavor. It's like a picnic. the seagull sounds could go. I found it annoying. The vinegar soaked potato fries were not that good. i was quite disappointed. 2 dogs, 1 order of fries, no drink ~$8. yikes! no fries at costco, but 2 much bigger dogs will set you back 3 bucks and change.

Having grown up in Buffalo, I have dined at the restaurant this one is modeled after, Ted's, countless times. This one still has some work to do to be as good as Ted's. The concept: Salen's hot dogs cooked over a char-grill and served with fries and vinegar. The dog is known for their hard casing. The other house specialty is their beef on weck. It's a juicy flank steak sand on a kimmelweck roll. The dog was good and cooked perfectly. I ordered a cheese dog, but the cheese was all wrong, almost gross. It is supposed to be a nice cheese sauce instead of a congealed mess. The beef on weck was very good. I really enjoyed the quality and temp of the beef. The vinegar for my fries was white instead of malt. A big misstep for me. Lastly, it took too long to get the food! These people need a lesson from the real staff that invented this process. Please kick it into high gear. The prices are definitely higher than what I used to pay. My sand was about $6, and my large fry was the size of a Wendy's small. What the hell? If Ted's were next door, of course I would choose it over Barkers. Since that is not the case, I will embrace this store, as it reminds me of home.

OK folks...this is the only way to get a dog. These are Sahlen's hot dogs and, a little clue for some of you, much better than a Nathan's and infinitely better than anything you can get at Costco (ugh!). The main thing you put on a char-grilled Sahlen's dog is Weber's horseradish mustard. With any additional toppings, you are taking the chance of taking away from the total product. Perhaps some diced onion or a dill spear. But never oh never put ketchup on one of these puppies. And pickle relish is for losers. Top it off with some Crystal Beach loganberry, and you have a meal fit for a king. Barker's roooooooooooooooolz!

So I'm staying here in Atlanta for awhile not knowing where I'm going or where to eat. I took a walk one fine evening and found this little gem of a place in a strip mall on Windy Hill Rd. Barker's Red Hots. "What the hell are red hots?" I thought, being from the Pacific NW, I'm not sure I've ever heard the term. As I got closer to the place I found it was hot dogs, polish dogs, etc. The thing that grabbed my attention and convinced me to give it a try was the charcoal grilling they advertised. So I went in and immediately noticed how clean the place appeared. There were three employees and all of them were smiling and very accommodating. I ordered a grilled polish dog and sure enough, they pulled one out and slapped it down on the open coal grill. They also have a wide variety of condiments and horseradish mustards, kraut, relish, all the standard items. They also offer something called Frings which apparently is a combination of fries and onion rings, although I did not try them. The dog was great, just like when it's grilled in the backyard. I used the restroom, it was also very clean. If I could give this place 4.5 stars I would, the only reason I didn't give it 5 stars is because it is after all basically a hot dog joint. Again I was impressed with both the super friendly, happy staff and the cleanliness of the place. Add the fact that they use real charcoal to grill their items, and you've got a winner!

Great food, very nice employees. The kids loved it...I'll have mine with chili, cheese, and japs, please.

Love the polish sausage. Never thought I'd like sauerkraut on it but it's amazing with the Webers mustard.

Damn good dog! Prepared on a charcoal grill, they know what they are doing here. I got a jumbo and some fries. The fries were just average but the weiner was delicioso. It doesn't have the snap of a Nathan's, but it's not quite the same animal. Barkers does their own thing. The owner, who was behind the grill, seemed really proud of his place and his product. I do wish the jumbo was a bit larger. I could eat 3 of these in one sitting no problem. But they aren't all that expensive, so it's not un-doable. The establishment is extremely clean, with mildly annoying colors, and an extremely pleasant staff.

On a recent Friday, I had to run into work for an hour to catch up on some business. After , I decided to check out this cool hot dog place that was nearby based upon other recent reviews. First off, I had no idea this cool shopping strip existed just past Pappasito's on Windy Hill. It's like the UN decided to have some of its members provide culinary options to us Southern folk. There's a pizzeria, Thai place, Sushi, Chinese, Mexican, **cough, coughSUBWAYcough, cough** and then Barker's Red Hots providing America's hot dog extraordinaire When you walk into Barker's, it feels like you've set foot on a beach. Well, not quite, but that's the atmosphere their aesthetic specialist was probably going for. And who doesn't love a cook-out style meal on the beach? Bright blues and cool greens are splashed everywhere and even the counter where they cook and cash out your order is painted like crystal-blue waves. The highlight of Barkers is their indoor charcoal grill. As a sign warns you upon entering the line, food is cooked to order so please be patient as it's worth the wait. Well, I'm not so sure it was. I ordered the Original Cheese Dog with the option of melted cheese versus shredded and topped with jalapenos. The dog, while it had a wonderful BBQ look and feel after cooking on the grill, was missing something that I couldn't quite put my finger on. Maybe it needed BBQ sauce. Maybe the stadium-style cheese sauce didn't do it for me. Maybe it was the soggy jalapeno slices (yes, they were soggy!). The dog itself was really juicy and expertly cooked, so I know there's some potential there with the right toppings. I also ordered the picnic-style baked beans and without a doubt, those were EXCELLENT. They came cold, and I had never eaten cold baked beans, but I ate the entire serving and was salivating for more. So the dog didn't quite do it for me, but the beans did lol. I'm still confident that I can find a winning combination that'll make me swoon. They also had all-beef dogs, Italian sausages and Polish sausages that looked good. The prices are pretty decent and they also have a nice sized patio with tables and chairs to eat at during awesome weather. Oh, if you bring the kiddies, they have giant-sized lollipops that are sure to please. For now, Mr. Barker, you get 3 stars, but I'll definitely be back for a second opinion!

Barker's Red Hots have managed to replace Five Guys as my new favorite hot dog place. What's clear once you walk in is that these guys know their dogs. They even accurately guessed where I was from based on my choice of toppings (evidently, Texans like mayo). They have everything from veggie dogs to all-beef hot dogs, and you can get them steamed (city style) or grilled over Alton Brown-approved natural lump charcoal! All the dogs are made to order right in front of you, and they come out charred perfectly. You have a large variety of toppings to choose from, and they have fresh made fries and homemade onion rings to complement the hot dog. I've tried to go in and try their other items like the polish sausage or the chicken dog, but I can't resist the pull of the jumbo red hot. I've been 3 times in the last week, and this was when I was supposed to start eating right! I think I have issues... Update: I had to give them an extra star for stocking Smyrna's own Kenny's Key Lime Pie (they say the mango is coming soon). This place gets props.

Yum. This is a family-run establishment, and the dogs are totally divine. I'm all about the jumbo chili cheese all beef. There is something about those grill marks... Pass on the fries (not brown enough for me) but the onion rings are pretty good. My only ding is the music they play. I just feel bad that they take their ambiance so serioulsy that they listen to the same tired beachy-type music ALL day. Ick! Oh and it's in Marietta.

These folks certainly do know their hot dogs. I checked this spot out for lunch one day while i was in the plaza. Once inside, you quickly see the sticker for being voted the best hot dog in the city.... "We'll see" I thought. So you know how at Coldstone they do all this weird stuff to the ice cream (looks they are cooking it) before they serve it to you. And it really gives you the impression that they know what they are doing, but really all they are doing is finding a reason to charge you 2 bucks more per scoop? I kinda got that impression at Barkers....that is, until I actually tasted the hot dogs. It takes about 10 minutes for them to cook these bad boys, but coming off that grill there is nothing that I have tasted like them in Atlanta. They have a few different sauces that you can put on the hot dog, one is spicy and actually gives the dog a great kick. The dogs are chargrilled so they come with this really intense flavor....definitely a must try in the city! They brag about their lemonade, and i must say its damn good too.

  • Mike F.

Not nearly as good as Big City Deli in Kennesaw! This place is actually quite pricey for what you get. The all beef hot dog is good, if you just want a classic dog. Nothing special, the hot sauce is pretty good that they put on the dog, its more of a hot relish than a sauce though. The owner and his wife are not very friendly or service oriented. They like to deal with one customer at a time and cook one hot dog at time. Even though I ordered a steamed dog thats already cooked, I had to wait 10 minutes for the guy who ordered 3 dogs food to get cooked. Speed of service is huge during the lunch hour. Avoid paying the $2.39 for a small fry, you only get about 8-10 fries.

Went to Barker's for the first time this weekend, and was impressed. The prices are reasonable, the folks behind the counter friendly, and the beef on weck delicious. And they have loganberry! I'll definitely be going back.

A very niche concept as far as the overall menu goes. The food is primarily focused on a wide variety of hotdog/sausage-dog combos. The space inside is relatively small but there is plenty of outdoor seating. The staff is friendly and there is a strong sense that this is a family owned/operated affair. If you're looking for a restaurant experience, this is not the place for you. however, if you're in the mood for the "hotdog stand on the boardwalk" kind of thing, you'd be very much at home here. For all of us "cosco hotdog combo" fans, this place is a fantastic replacement. Moderately priced. Very clean and bright.

  • Sara R.

Love, love, love the beef hotdog w/sauerkraut! What I would give for one of those now. You have to be ready to wait for a few minutes because they grill them to order. I'd skip the calories on the side dishes. crinkle fries but not krispy if you like them soft. great place for a dog and root beer!

This place is a really great place to hang out. The staff is very friendly and if you go often enough they learn your name and learn how you tick. I love going because of the friendly atmosphere, the monthly trivia and great food.

Anyone from Western New York will appreciate Barker's Red Hots. Don't miss out on your opportunity to eat THE best hot dogs. Transplants can now purchase frozen hot dogs in any increment to take home and freeze. I buy 5 lbs worth for $25. Much cheaper than the checked luggage fee ;-). Thank you Barkers!!

  • Ben T.

Arguably the best Red Hots (Hot Dogs) in the city, and the FRESH onion rings are unbeatable. I'm not really a fan of the chili, but to each is own. Some people love it. [:-)] No matter what your tastse, you've got to try it for yourself especially if you love the American classic.

  • Yuly M.

Yay for charcoal jumbo hotdogs! My fave! Of course Chicago dogs are still da best, but this place is holdin it down in da ATL. Tried some kinda juice forgot name, tasted more like a raspberry iced tea. Was ok but really couldn't finish it all.

  • Erich C.

Lets start with it's a hot dog. It's not something I'm going to expect you can really do that spectacular. But for what it is Barkers does do a pretty good job of it. The service is speedy and polite even though the seating could use some work. They have enough varied options of types of dogs to toppings that can have you eat here multiple times and try different items. The onion rings are hand battered which is a nice touch.

My wife's family is from Buffalo, so they are die hard fans of Sahlen's red hots and Webber's mustard. They've got 'em both here and they cook 'em over charcoal. I thought they were great and my wife was impressed as well. Their beef on weck was money too. The meat is cut a little thicker than normal, but it was perfectly tender and moist, and the Kimmelweck was fresh and tasty. This restaurant is worthy of "craveable" status. I think someone else mentioned it as well, but this may be the cleanest restaurant I've ever been to in my life.

  • Jeff H.

Def added to my list of go-to joints. Great service and I had a couple of hot dogs and a Italian sausage.. The hot dogs were great.. nice smoky taste.. and the fries were crinkle cut..excellent. Def not a chain joint..

  • Jim G.

Barkers has some of the best hot dogs in Atlanta. They also serve a sandwich native to Buffalo NY called a "Beef on Weck" after asking the owner I found that the kummelweck roll are made in house. If you're not a fan of hot dogs I would recommend giving Barkers a shot from some of their other food.

  • Lyndsay K.

I always forget that sweet lil Barker's is right next to my office. Perhaps because the line is usually long and does take some time to get through, as they grill your dog over coal as you order it. It's just not quick and easy, but it *is* delicious! I've had a regular hot dog and I've also had the smoked sausage. I skip the sides and just stick with the dog. The grilled taste is most excellent and it's always worth the wait in line.

    (4)
  • Candace B.

This was a nice stop in for a Saturday lunch while running errands. If you are in the area and want something quick this is worth the stop. The dogs are grilled, and the food isn't dripping grease which a lot of quick hot dog shops have a problem with.

  • JJ J.

First time here and I couldn't be happier. Had a tough time deciding and went with the "Bomb" Italian sausage which I am glad I did. Their spicy sauce is legit and I may need to take a container home. Crinkle cut fries were crispy and cooked perfectly. I can't wait to go back!

    (5)
  • Lindsay K.

BEST onion ring man in the business. Period. Best hot dogs in Atl, too. This is not that Varsity swill. It is char grilled, all beef perfection, topped with exactly what you want when you want it. Get with a side of onion rings- They are magical. It is in this mans hands, and they are WORTHY.

  • Phillip C.

Tried to place an order for 9 hot dogs and sides and was told "we really frown on large orders". I left disappointed and a little embarrassed. I won't be back.

  • Jonathan G.

Holy god, this hotdog is amazing. They're grilled right there and the flavor is explosive. Everything that goes on it is quality (slaw, chili, and especially their mustard blend and hot sauce). Other stuff is...uneventful (I think the fries are frozen and the burgers look like Bubba burgers). But seriously, get over here and get a hotdog. There's a reason they're #1. It's an eating experience.

    (4)
  • Craig C.

Heard a lot of good things about Barker's, finally made it in today for lunch. Had the "Bomb" Italian Sausage and crinkle fries. The sausage was tasty, had a little kick with the spicy sauce, the bun was nicely toasted, and the fries were good. Overall, thought it was above average, I'll be back in the future to try the "Royal" and the Steak Sandwich next.

  • Yolanda P.

I had high hopes for Barkers as I am always up for a good chili dog, chili slaw dog, chili cheese slaw dog, etc... However, I was not impressed. The hotdogs were lacking in flavor and personally my friend and I left wishing we had just went to checkers and grabbed some chili dogs. It also didn't help that I think the idea of paying upwards of $4 for a chili slaw dog is a little outlandish if you ask me. Really? It's a hotdog. I'm up for paying for quality food but again something was just missing. I had a chili cheese slaw dog and a slaw dog with baon (which were actually bacon bits). I just couldn't taste the hotdog. For all I know it was a veggie dog. :-/ Oh, and by the way....if you wanna try it out because you genuinely want a "red hot", don't waste your time. They don't have em!

Was driving around looking for something good to eat and came across this shopping center. I whipped in and was really leaning toward getting some Thai food from Red Elephant but the reviews weren't that great, looked down the way and say Barkers Red Hots...instantly my mouth started watering. I love me a good hotdog! Walked in and was surprised, everything is bright and colorful AND CLEAN. I mean spotless. If Gordon Ramsey came in here he would fall in love with how the stainless steel shined in the afternoon light. Okay enough of that on to the food! Lots of selection to choose from but I wanted to stick with the basics, can't go wrong with what the name is built on right? Right! I had two original hots with chilli cheese and onion on both. Sue me, I'm a simple chick..lol The ordering process is a little slow as each dog is cooked to order, which I find terrific! I almost asked for them to burn mine but they actually came out perfect. The chilli wasn't spicy but it had a nice tang to it, onions and cheese sauce was typical. The bun was store bought..nothing special, heck it wasn't even steamed. Which I sort of thought it would be. Oh well...still a dang good dog. I also had the onion rings...Oh My Gawd. That right there is heaven in a bite! Crispy and light. I don't know what the batter is but thank you someone for inventing it. Great customer service, I honestly can't complain............except for the price..lol I spent $12 bucks on two hot dogs, onion rings and a drink. That's just a little to much for lunch. Even saying all that, I'll be back..more than once. Can't wait to try a beef dog or an Italian sausage.

Wow! I've been wanting to try this place out, but never made it before closing time. Finally, got in and had the grilled chicken sandwich. It's so good even from the first bite! Definitely will be back! They're friendly too!

I have some serious love for this place. Seriously. I've been recommended to come here for a hot dog by several veggie friends, and when I say recommended I mean that they gushed and raved about Barkers and insisted that we have to try their veg-dog. I did not expect Barkers to be so cute and modern. The interior is bright and fun and the people working here embodied that- everyone was super friendly. I ordered a grilled veggie dog (topped with onions, ketchup, mustard, and relish) and shared an order of fries with my date. The veggie dog was, by far, one of the best I've ever had- the texture was great and the taste was super similar to what I recall a real hot dog (real? it's all questionable mystery meat!) tasting like. I can't wait to come back here and I'm grateful they're located on the other side of Windy Hill so I'm not frequenting this joint more than my waist can handle.

I may have reconsidered coming back to try this place again. However, after getting snarky replies back from Glenn Barker, it is obvious that I will take my business elsewhere. Additionally, if you look at the other "average" three star ratings, Glenn also replies with an attitude. The markings of a good restaurant and owner is to take suggestions with grace and learn from them. Good luck.

Gonna keep this (relatively) short and sweet. First the highs: I am a hot dog aficionado, and Barker's hits the spot. I always go for the grilled option(not too crazy about boiled hot dogs-I can do those anytime at home), with mustard, chili, onions and slaw. Pretty simple, and Barker's never fails to deliver. The fries are decent, your standard crinkle cut, well-seasoned and onion rings are tasty . I have yet to try the beef on weck or the Loganberry drink, and I doubt that I will get the chance now that I work so far away-which brings me to the lows. My main point of contention with Barker's is the crazy schedule. Only open for lunch, it doesn't help me out when I get a yen for a dawg for dinner. Also, there have been instances when I've gone there within the hours of operation, but for whatever reason, the establishment has closed. Also, I've found the prices are a tad steep. We're not talking the chic, trendy fare of Richard Blais' HD venture but your basic, all-American hotdog.

  • Tyler T.

This was really one of the best hot dogs i have had, BUT way to expensive for a hot dog, no matter how good it is. Its defiantly a treat to have these dogs for lunch, its a cool looking place too. I love how they grill the dogs right there on a charcoal grill as soon as you order. The fries are good too, but its a place to go rarely as a treat due to how expensive it is.

  • Kell S.

This is the BEST hotdog I have ever had in my life! No joke! I was trying to decide my toppings when I saw the sign for the Signature Dog with their house-made hot sauce (amaze-balls!) with chopped onion and dill pickle spears and had to try it for my 1st visit. It was delicious! The sauce was great and the thin cut pickles were a nice addition. I also had the tomato and mozzarella and it was pretty good but I would love some red pepper flake in there. It was so good that I took some home for my daughter and boyfriend. My lunch was $5.30 (sweet!) and 3 dogs to go were less than $11. I like the dog to bun ratio. I usually like a nice big tasty bun with poppy seeds or wheat or something but I could care less here. The dog is the star and it should be. While waiting at the tax office yesterday evening we were looking over the menu and seriously, my mouth started watering. Lol. I usually try to eat pretty healthy so this was an unexpected treat and not I am worried that I may be hooked. I have no idea what I will go for next time but I can't wait! Also, the owner was on the grill and was totally conscious about keeping the long line moving and the rest of the staff were smiling and friendly. If my next trip is as good, i will be giving 5 stars!

I went here because of all the rave reviews the place has. Unfortunately, I didn't think the hot dogs were great. just regular hot dogs you can really get at any other cart in any other city. Everything about it was just not that great. I had a chilli cheese hot dog. The first thing I noticed was that the cheese was just regular prepacked cheese. Based on the reviews, I expected a little bit more than kraft cheddar. The chilli was also not that good. The bread was store bought bun. What I mean is that I feel like anyone could do this dog at home. If I'm out for a dog, I want something special and this wasn't it. I had WAY better chilli cheese dog at yeah burger (theirs was surprisingly good for the same price). The ones at HD1 were better than this too, but they also don't stand up to the hype. However, I will say this: their onion rings rocked! You could tell the batter was made in house, and was light (almost tempura based?). This review gets 3 stars based on onion rings. You read that right. I love onion rings that much. EDIT (3/1/2013): I've been here a couple of times after my original visit, and i have to say that the italian sausage is awesome. The bread is decent too. I feel like I found something here that makes me come back often. I also have to note that the service is always very friendly. They definitely take care of their customers here.

I went to Barker's this weekend, and was disappointed in the beef on weck. The bread was not made in house, as I read online in a review. It was a doctored up dry kaisar roll, the manager told me. Too doctored up, too much salt and caraway. Beef was okay, gristly, def not anything special, and not enough au jus to counteract the somewhat dry bun. If this is the best weck in Atlanta, I won't be trying the other places that have it. Dogs looked great, though, wish I had gotten one of those instead. And the fries were very good, so I'm giving it three stars. But if you are from western NY, don't get your expectations up too high for the weck. (Edited to say that the owner Glenn wrote me an immediate email apologizing for my experience, and offering a discount on my next visit. I don't need that, but very impressive. I will go again for a dog and fries, and will try the sammich again. Every place deserves a second chance with an owner like that.)

Drove One Hour to get to Barkers. With out question the best hot dog in Atlanta. I can't believe I did it, I ate two jumbo hot dogs!!! Onions rock. Wish I could give it 10 stars

Pretty ordinary, nothing to write home about. Not bad, but I agree with other reviews, really nothing special but they aren't bad. Grilling your own hotdogs in your backyard would be about the same, and even better if you smoke them over mesquite (yum). Wish they had hotdogs like In the Northeast. They have amazing hotdogs called "rippers". Fried till they split then grilled. :-D Some flavor is added by grilling over charcoal by adding a char which you can easily do yourself. (More of a novelty I think, but beyond that, same as on your own grill;) Tip: Try Mike's Hotdogs in Sandy Springs. Unbelieveble. Great service too. Chicago Style and with great Brats! They also can grill theirs, and they use premium Vienna beef Sausage . They also feature a Beef Wheck Italian Sandwich with Au Jus that is out of this world!

Barker's Red Hots is located in a busy shopping center in Marietta off of Windy Hill between I-75 and Terrell Mill. Be careful as if you wait until 12:30 or 1:00 to go you may have a difficult time parking. It's a relatively small restaurant next to the Three Dollar Café, Jr. Each dog is made to order and cooked by who I presume to be the owner. There are a variety of types of sausages (Polish, I think an Italian is available, etc.) one could get but thus far I've only tried to the Chili Cheese Dog so this is what my review will be about. The secret must be the charcoal. The sausage literally oozes with smoky deliciousness and has that lovely "snap" I like in a hotdog. The chili is good, though I may prefer it with a little more spiciness and kick. I enjoyed the melted cheese but should you choose that option be sure to grab an extra handful of napkins. They're messy. If you don't care for chili, slaw, relish, peppers and a variety of other toppings are available. Finally, if you want your bun grilled also, be sure to ask. It normally is not served that way. All-in-all, Barker's serves the best dogs in town, in my opinion. The owner and his staff are very friendly and courteous and seem to truly appreciate your patronage. This is one of the many reasons I much prefer to support local, family owned businesses over corporate chains. Cons: Not necessarily a con, per se, just be prepared to spend $10 for two dogs and a drink. Seating may be difficult at peak hours. Pros: Best dogs in town. Verdict: Recommended.

This is another in a line of eateries that, in theory, I should like. The hook here is their charcoal grill. Not quite the sophistication of MF's robata grill, but the effort is well-received. Hot dogs, grilled and charred, onion rings, crinkle cut fries. The menu reads like gastric porn to me. And yet....yet, I don't come here all that often. Namely it's the prices that keep me away. The basic grilled dog is over $3, small fries almost $2 and then almost a $2 drink. When all is said and done, it's $7 for a basic lunch of a dog, fries and a coke. And no, there isn't a combo. In a world where I know I can get 2 dogs and a papaya drink for $3.50 in the middle of freaking MANHATTAN, that's just too much to bear. But some have no problem with their prices and are willing to slap down the dough for the dogs. More power to them, I say. For me, though, it's only an occasional visit. Let the grilled dog hunt; just don't charge me so much for it.

I eat here all the time when visiting Atlanta. The hot dogs are delicious, I love the perfect texture you get off that 500 degree lump charcoal. Horseradish mustard and sauerkraut jumbo with those perfectly crispy cooked to order fries is how I like it, but they're all good. Great place to eat lunch on a work day!

Barkers Red Hots are to hot dogs what Fleming's Steakhouse Burgers are to hamburgers. These dogs are Royalty! Great stuff! I like them the "Signature Style" dressed the way the owners suggest! You can order Fries or Rings (amazingly light and crispy) or order what I get...Frings which is a boat of rings and fries! Great stuff.

Stopped in for a late lunch and was met by some friendly staff that quickly took care of my order. I went with the Original Red Hot Slaw Dog. My toppings of choice were the house hot sauce and mustard. This was a very tasty dog, very likely one of the best I've had in years. To go with my dog I got an order of their very tasty onion rings and a root beer. This was very satisfying and only set me back about $8, not a bad deal in my book.

I know hot dogs aren't good for me but I remember being curious about Barkers Red Hots, esp. the part of their signage that said "slow cooked over hot coals". Today I finally did something about it. Inside it smelled really good - I love the smell of grilled meats :) My friend & I decided to share the "jumbo all-beef sauerkraut dog" ($3.99) and the "chicken Italian sausage w/ fresh spinach & feta cheese" ($4.65). I also got a small order of the crinkle-cut fries ($2.09). They cook your meats to order ... which means there is a little wait. And while you're waiting in line, you can hear seagulls in the background - random, right? And then we saw them pour what looked like green superfood onto my chicken sausage ... yeah, that was the "fresh spinach" described on the menu. Wouldn't fresh spinach = fresh spinach leaves? And the spinach was nasty tasting! I asked my friend why it tasted peculiar - she said it tasted like canned spinach (which I'd never had). It didn't help either that the spinach, feta, and sausage were all very salty - the fries were fortunately bland so they went well with the sausage and the hot dog. But for $2.09, I thought the portion of fries was pretty small. I did like the hot dog - pricey & salty but since Barkers is a hot dog joint, it's probably best to stick with their core product :) If I did come back, I'd probably try the spicy "Jumbo All-Beef Barkers Red Hot". I checked the opinions of my other co-workers and they all thought Varsity is still the best :) Overall, I'd probably give this place 2.5 stars. FYI - not much seating so you might want to avoid lunch rush hour or get there early. Also, join their email list to get coupons.

The dogs are good but the gauntlet of repetitious questions you have to answer just to get served brings the place down. My favorite is the jumbo all beef chili cheese dog and a loganberry juice. Good stuff.

Their dogs are always great, well worth the drive for me. The charcoal grill makes them special. Fries and rings are crispy and freshly dipped for each order. On top of that, the couple who runs it is unbelievably nice, rarely do you meet people who seem like they actually care about each customer as a person, made my day.

When I first sank my teeth into the hot dog I ordered from Barker's I thought to myself "man, these hot dogs must have been made by a fifth generation German family owned meat packer, that uses products which can't possibly be bought locally!" Just kidding, it tastes like every other hot dog I've eaten. To be fair, the service was very good, so I give an extra star. Actually never mind I won't.

When I panic on a hot dog line, I usually say the same thing, "Ummm, one hot dog ... and throw everything on it!" There are some variations. Sometimes I'll drag out the "Ummmmmmm ..." Sometimes I'll say two hot dogs. At Barker's, I said "Ummm, two hot dogs ... throw everything on it ... and onion rings!" I don't know what happened. The hot dogs here I haven't seen anywhere else in Atlanta. The Barkers presumably have their own covert sausage guy. When it's cooked (the hot dog, not the sausage guy), it's cooked to order. I happened to be the first guy in the shop and right then they fired up the charcoals, took two large hunting spears for lack of a better description, and the hot dogs were rolled and cooked to perfection. There is a lightly longer wait here than at any other hot dog place you may have been to in the past. There's a snap and unique crunch with each bite. At times you wonder if what you're eating is actually a sausage. Then you add the other items, one for each vessel to be bypassed en route to your imminent heart attack: mustard, onions, melted cheese, chili, and pickles. This all congeals and comes together to form one tasty, tasty hot dog. And these aren't miniature sized dogs, like at Varsity or Brandi's. You may react when I did when I saw my two dogs next to each other: "I'm glad I took Zantac." But I ate both. In a heartbeat. And I hope my heart still beats. By the way, super friendly staff here. I somehow got into a conversation about delis and pastrami, talking about Zingerman's and Katz's. This was before I received the food. But based on this conversation, I already was a fan. During the meal, they happily refilled my water. Afterwards, without prompting, they wrapped the rest of my onion rings to go. Not too shabby. If the service hadn't already done it, the hot dogs clinched it. The onions were the salty, oniony icing on the cake ... of hot dogs. Why are all the best hot dog joints in the Atlanta OTP? No matter. I'm happy to trek here anytime.

I'm updating my review as a courtesy to the owner. It's still a hot dog. That doesn't make it bad. Is it a good hot dog? Depends on what you want. Better than what you make in the microwave or on the stove- of course! If you're particular in how you want it cooked or you want it sourced somewhere in particular, well, then this might be your place. I came on the recommendation of a friend. If I'm in the neighborhood, I'll stop in, but to try the weck. Worth a drive? Not for a hot dog. The hot dog seems to be the next glorified food of the moment- yesterday it was the hamburger. Evidence? See the cover of the June, 2011 Food Network magazine. Again, worth a drive? Only for a cultural icon,

Delicious Hot Dog!!!! I had a beef hot dog with chili, cheese, onions, mustard. It was great! I also had onion rings. The onion rings were a hit as well. On the downside, it's a hotdog...I think the prices are somewhat high for what it really is.

I have been trying to try this place for years but I can never catch them open.... But today was my lucky day.... and being the hot dog connoisseur that I am, I always try the Original and then venture out to some of the other taster items on the menu. I love the fact that its a open grill, so you get the fresh char on your dog. I didn't care for the home made relish, but other then that , this place was a plus in my book. Also I like the fact that you can purchase your pack of dogst to cook at home. Thats within its self is a win ! So if you can ever catch these guys open please stop by.

Was on business travel and had an hour to kill. This area of Atlanta is kind of confusing with a bunch of office buildings, one way streets, and submerged shopping malls below the streets. Anyway, pulled into the shopping center. Saw Barker's, which had a. outdoor seating and b. was packed, and figured I'd give it a shot. Hot dogs are grilled one at a time, each individually ordered in the line. They have about 15 different kinds, I had the original which had a very nice grilled onion/relish/long pickle on it. Fries were top shelp, vibe is good as they people were friendly. Definately found a very good place to eat, mainly for the business lunch crowd with little time and a nice appetite. Highly recommended. I'm not the biggest hot dog fan but Barker's won me over!

Absolutely the best hot dog place-bar none. Charcoal grilled to perfection. I've had a polish sausage and several hot dogs at different times. The onion rings, extra crispy please-are great. I also order fries extra crispy. I get one regular slaw chili dog and fries or rings. I have never been able to finish the entire meal, so I sacrifice the side order to try to finish my dog. Chocolate chip cookies are good too. Check in on Yelp at the register and save 15% on your check, automatically. I've already earned $10 off my next meal so I'll save it for a family night. Excellent value for quality food, IMO.

My boyfriend works just minutes from Barkers and we've eaten around this place for a while. Today I was searching for some place new for us to try, and with time constraints to boot, and Barkers won out. It is absolutely one of the cleanest places I have ever walked into to order a hot dog. I was going to start with a Polish Sausage my first time in, but decided to go with what they are famous for first. I had an original chilli cheese dog. Not bad, this is going up on my list with the Varisty for chilli cheese dogs. They have some specialty drink they sell/make in house. It's not carbonated and taste like kool-aid. I mean could I have felt any more like a kid?!? It was fabulous. My boyfriend had the all beef dog, and I had the pork/beef, and he ordered the french fries, which I finished. I had the onion rings. Very good, just greasy. All in all, a new favorite, and they have outside seating. Today was perfect!

The erratic hours killed us when we tried to fundraise (you basically compete with everyone else who is trying to get money from Barker's by sending people over there are buying their fare...like our group of 8 had to compete with our band..fail!) Looks like an awkward family service. I had their dog and mozzarella salad (which was really gross. They said it's made fresh, but how can it be when it's just pulled out of the little fridge? The cold mozzarella was gooey, which is NOT fresh because the vinaigrette had broken some of the cheese's enzymes. It came in a little ketchup sauce cup too.) and tried my friend's onion rings. The onion rings were the only redeemable things and they were actually pretty good! Though onions rings are kind of hard to mess up... --------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Note: I just got an email from the owner who said my review was "selfish, incongruent, without fact (by the way the restaurant business is largely opinion formed), and one of the few that don't get it" sounds a lot more malicious to me than my review does to your business and may actually hurt you in the long run if you guilt-trip all the customers that weren't satisfied to change their reviews and ratings (sounds like what you did with Micaela G, and probably for a lot of other people too). The owner said the hours of operation have been stabilized and the fundraising has ended quite some time ago. Just a careful note, there's not much seating in the place and outside either, so I would plan on take out because it can get busy and the atmosphere isn't to die for. I'm sorry but that was just the experience I had and if you can't take criticism, get over it. Other businesses are proactive and apologize and are absolutely wonderful- I will always return to them. A negative experience coupled with good customer service can lead to a lifetime customer. Word!!! --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Update 8.5.11: I wrote this as one of my first Yelp posts, two stars and much harsher words. When the owner flipped his bird (dog?) on me, I felt like an awful person and changed everything. But looking back on it I was basically a pushover because I was "new" to Yelp. Forget that, I'm changing it back to what I first did. I should drop it, but I still feel angry after all these years. Here I am writing about things that can be improved, and what I get back is an indignant, angry, and self-righteous reply (aka "how dare you!", "my hot dogs are the best, they're so gourmet!"). Well let me tell you some news- places that don't heed customers are the ones that never really become big. One thing that gets me is how the owner keeps on saying how awesome his hot dogs are and that we don't understand what goes into them and what makes them top-notch, importing them, etc, etc. Let me tell you something- hot dogs, as a general rule, are made from meat by-products and fat. By-products include just about everything we can't get at the local grocer's (like kidneys, gall bladders, intestines, brain, lungs, etc.). If you're talking gourmet, the franks are usually made of some type of beef, again nearly indistinguishable in taste in the end product. But unless the beef/meat is grade A1 Kobe (stupid, no one makes hot dogs with kobe) or hand made by Tom Colicchio or Thomas Keller, being made by by a fifth-generation person in a company that dates from 1869 doesn't really mean much. Especially if you don't even list the name of the company or person. Not much to credit there, is there? Places like Bacchanalia (often named #1 in Atlanta)- have to import majority of their ingredients and procure local/organic as much as possible. Their menu is completely transparent. Niman Ranch, Flat Creek Lodge, etc. They don't complain about hidden costs, and they have a mini-gourmet grocer, deli, upscale dining room, and less formal upstairs to maintain as well. I don't know about 800 degree ovens, but Antico definitely has 1000+ degrees ovens and they don't close until waay later at night. They also import majority of their ingredients (their freaking ovens, too) straight from Italy. No complaints, just pride in their food and culture. Second, I don't like how you say your food is fresh, not fast, like "your buds at Brandi's." Nothing like poorer sportsmanship than calling out fellow hot dog enthusiasts. They were named as one of Atlanta's best hotdogs by AJC, one of Cobb's Seven Wonders, and has a higher rating than Barker's (without any ugly messages, too). Maybe instead of insulting them, you should try learning from them. Third, when you wrote on Daniel B's review (which was nothing but professional. He is one of the top in Yelp.), I found it incredible that you had the audacity to say how "painfully ignorant" he was, but invited him to visit your new location up in Roswell. That, screams painfully ignorant in customer service.

Best hot dog in Atlanta. Served over charcoal, the dogs have a nice taste and crisp. Sides are great, Loganberry drink is great. Atmosphere and menu is just like a beach-side stand. We love this hidden gem. They also offer grilled chicken, beef on weck, sausages, and grouper.

I love this place great food and atmosphere they have same staff always and you really feel welcome Try will do 1/2 1/2 fries and orings if you can't decide. Dogs and beef sandwich are both great. I haven't tried the chicken but I'm sure it rocks too. They get a tad crowded at lunch, go early or late.

Family run business which is great! Always support local! Definitely the foodie fix for when you want a hot dog. Chargrilled franks done just right, and made to order! Something about that smokey flavor that brings it up a notch. Fries are good, but the onion rings are better! The lunch hour is the busiest, but they don't keep customers waiting long! A definite must have!

I love this place when they are open. But cmon guys you can't send mailers saying you're now open I drive across town only to find out you're not and what's with the summer hours that's hot dog season. The dogs are great but the hours of operation are unreliable at time

This place is everything and a bag of chips!! Got beef dog with chili, onions, ketchup, famous sauce... With some fries. The fries look bland but they taste yummy. All this for $7 and I am full. First time at this place and I am already looking forward returning.

Best hot dogs in the ATL!!! Very beachy feel, friendly service! Just awesome! Everything is done over charcoal flame. The jumbo dog is on point! The onion rings are awesome. Fresh lemonade is tasty and refreshing!bi even had the chicken sandwich one time that has bacon on it and it was awesome. The charcoal is really the secret I think, along with great ingredients and customer service. Always love coming here and have recommended to multiple people!

Quality hot dog in Atlanta. As a native New Yorker I'm used to the typical street style dog, with very limited toppings. However.... "When in Rome". This dog or Red Hot as barkers called it definitely has a different flavor/taste that your typical street hot dog and that probably attributes to the hardwood charcoal they cook it on. I tried the original red hot and it was crispy on the outside, almost to the point of being fried with the inside remaining moist. The topping station has something for everyone, but I like to keep it simple with the sweet onion and hot sauce( spicy mustard)

I was on my way home from work and noticed this interesting looking hot dog shop. At first glance I was excited to see such an eclectic establishment in this otherwise drab parking lot. When I walked in it was empty but after looking at the menu my hopes were still high. I ordered the sauerkraut dog and gave the woman at the register my card. After she stared at me blankly for four minutes without giving me a receipt I finally asked her, "Am I good?" She looked confused and said, "probably." With a very distinct attitude. I ate the hot dog, and it was good, a bit overpriced, but good. I still felt weird about not getting a receipt so I checked my bank account. Surely enough, she had charged me twice. I'm not going to go back and ask for my four dollars back and I cannot recommend this place unless you are absolutely desperate for a dog.

Barkers hot dogs are quite good with their fresh-grilled taste. I've also had the pleasure of the beef on weck, recommended to me years ago by Tom Maicon. Along with Brandi's and Hot Dog Heaven, Barkers is one of the best hot dog restaurants in the area (NW Atlanta metro). All three are very different in character and fare. The restaurant is worked by friendly, enthusiastic people. The space itself does leave something to be desired - inside seating is sparse and a bit harsh, very lacking in character. Not sure what can be done about that other than move to new location. Having seats outside helps considerably. The owner responses? Well, if I were rating that separately, Barkers would get fewer than four stars.

This place is alright but it is very expensive for a dog joint. The charcoal touch on cooking the dogs is good but not good enough to charge basically $5 for a chili dog. I got 2 dogs... 1 original and 1 all beef. I would say don't even try the original go straight for the all beef, it has more flavor and you won't feel as bad after you drop $5 for one of em. Overall, it was cool testing this joint out but I definitely would not go out of my way to get one. The chili is bland and does not enhance the flavors of the dogs at all. Don't take my word for it though, check it out yourself!

Awesomeness. It's a word. Look it up. This little joint kills it - jumbo fire grilled dogs, sausages, chicken. The potato salad rivals my own, and their signature hot sauce is some of the best I've ever tasted. As a creature of habit, I almost always get a jumbo with slaw, onions, and hot sauce, but my friends tell me the entire menu is top shelf. It's a small place, so if you come at lunchtime be prepared to wait, stand, or take it to go.

Everyone in the branch I work at decided to give Barkers a try. 2 employees took everyone's orders after we tried to call in the order and we're told they don't accept call in orders. When my coworkers got to Barker's the employees were extremely rude and kept telling them that they were messing up their business and that they don't like us bringing in multiple orders. The hot dog was nothing special. Dogfather's in Kennesaw or Chicago Hot dog in Marietta have better dogs and much nicer employees. Terrible customer service and meh hot dogs make this a place you shouldn't waste your time with.

"Let me make it up to you somehow, eh? How 'bout a nice hot dog and a beer?" -- Planes, Trains & Automobiles (1987) Here is what I love - They cook the hot dogs over charcoal so they get good and smokey and crispy and the skin gets a little charred. Yummmmm. After reviewing the menu and the toppings, I decided on getting 2 original dogs instead of 1 jumbo - this way I could try 2 different combos. I went for 1 chili-cheese dog (with mustard, of course) and my 2nd dog was decked out with their signature hot sauce and relish (also with mustard...sense a pattern?). The chili-cheese dog was delightful. The chili is a great consistency (no beans) and more along the lines of a northern chili (but not sweet/spicy like a Cincinnati chili) and they give you the option of either shredded or sliced cheese (I picked shredded). The 2nd dog was delicious too, but I was a little disappointed in the "hot sauce." It was not as hot as I was expecting (I got the relish to help calm the hot I was expecting). It was good, just not great. I think the chili is far superior to the hot sauce. Now the fries, probably bought frozen in bulk, are crinkle cut. However what makes them so good is they are fried to order in small batches and then spritzed with vinegar. WOW this makes such a difference and who cares if they are Ore-ida fries or not. To make sure my to-go order stayed in good condition, they stab the containers with a little fork to let the steam escape - however the girl did this for my fries and NOT my dogs. I could tell in the hot dog buns as they were a little soggy when I got home. I would go back, but I'll be sticking with the chili-cheese and probably go for jumbo next time.

I can see why people like this place but I personally was disappointed. I'm from Chicago and love portillos but also used to wonderful chicago hot dogs. First things I did not enjoy that I had to pay extra for a beef hotdog then extra for tomatoes then take out tax. The fries was good the hotdog itself was ok, I do like that they grill it in front of you. However if I do return it will only be for fries.

Amazing!! Took a buddy here last week and he said that it was the best he'd ever had, in the world. And he's military and has traveled. Only bad part was that they no longer have the Loganberry drink, that's good stuff. Hope that they can get it again.

This place didn't seem bad at all. I tried their Original Red Hot and their Classic Italian Sausage. The owner does cook all the sausages over a coal gril. He makes incisions in the casings before he cooks them. Then he grills them until they have nice char and looks hot. I did like the taste of the Red Hot. It had good pop and flavor. I would advise you against using too much of their sauces. I tried their horseradish sauce, and it overpowered the dog. I would just get simple condiments to compliment the dog. The flavor of the meat is the star. It's too bad their buns look like it came from a some generic supermarket brand though. I guess it works. Their Italian Sausage dog tasted good. It had the strong Italian Seasoning flavor to it. It came on a Italian Roll which seemed higher quality than the supermarket branded buns the regular Red Hots came from. I liked how they toasted it. Their sides aren't worth getting. I would just get 1-3 dogs and ignore the sides. Speaking of which, these dogs are small. So if you have a big stomach, you would need about 2-3 dogs to be satisfied. I agree with some of the Yelpers, because of their size and the price, they do seem overpriced. However, they do have a deal, as of Sept 5, 2012, where you can get 2 jumbo Red Hots for $6 or something. 3.75 stars.

Really good food cooked to order french fries without salt and vinegar hotdogs of all variety and onion rings similar to the other famous Atl hod dog restaurant

This is Atlanta's best hot dog spot! The dogs are cooked over organic charcoal to get that smoky flavor. The fries are always crisp and the service is always immaculate. They treat you like family! Great family owned business. I eat here once a week!

Barkers Red Hots is a hot dog shop located close to the intersection of Windy Hill Rd. and Powers Ferry Rd. The hot dogs are cooked over a charcoal grill. I usually end up getting the jumbo hot dog with chili and cheese along with french fries. They spritz the fries with vinegar, but I usually add a bit more. The jumbo chili cheese dog and fries come out to be about $7. I think that the hot dogs are pretty good. They get a nice little char on them from the grill. They start cooking the hot dogs after you order them so they take a few minutes. I always get my orders to-go. They will vent the containers to allow the steam to escape. Barkers offers a frequent diner type program. If you give them your cell phone number, they will keep track of how much you spend. Once you hit $50 then you get a $10 credit. They are now open from 11am to 8:30pm Monday through Saturday. My one gripe about the place has been that they are occasionally closed during times that their posted hours indicate they are normally open. This happened more when the Roswell location was open. I know sometimes they closed if it was too hot. But other times they just seemed to be closed for no reason.

EXPENSIVE! !! Really just overhyped. Not worth the money at all. I ordered two footlongs and a drink to the tune of....14 bucks! The hot dogs were completely average and nothing special at all. Update. ..ok...maybe they weren't actually footlongs because it's been months ago, but all that would prove is that they were less of a value. I do remember be charged extra for about everything. Again...I still think this is mere hype for what is really just expensive hot dogs. I remember them being at least a buck more if you wanted them grilled vs. boiled. Regardless - I won't be back

Hot dogs! Get your hot dogs! Charcoal grilled, right there in front of your very eyes. Delish. The challenge is trying to figure out what you want. I was practically frozen like a deer in the headlights, eventually settling on one chili cheese and one mustard with cole slaw and onions. I managed to decline the fries. $6, a total steal! I'll totally be back. One tip - if the line is moving slow, your hot dogs might get a little closer to "well done" rather than "medium". If you want yours grilled to a certain char level, ask.

I was really dissapointed! The hot dogs lacked that delicious flavor they get from charcoal. I ordered a side of potato salad which tasted so bad i didnt want to finish it. It was kind of pricey for a family of 4 (2 toddlers) and we ended up hungry afterwards

I'll have to admit, after reading JJJ's review of the bomb I had my doubts that it would live up to the billing, since it seems that the red hot would be the way to go for a first timer......sweet jesus was I wrong, the "bomb" Italian is where its at! So good in fact, that since we both have so few friends on Yelp, we should meet at Barker's for some "bombs" next week!

I love this place. Of course the hotdogs are fantastic but on Fridays they have an awesome fish sandwich that is crispy and has great sauce. They are great at moving the line fast during the lunch rush and the service is always friendly.

Have wanted to stop by Barker's for years and finally got around to it today. If you're from the Buffalo area this is a throwback to the style of Ted's and even serves the same Buffalo brand dogs (which are quite good). The restaurant was very clean, with a 100% "A" inspection report. The owner and his wife were manning the grill and were very friendly to me and we discussed our common origins. The dog itself was cooked fresh when I ordered it, along with perfectly crisp and tasty fries. The fries were especially good and cooked fresh not soggy or oily. Highly recommend checking the place out, they are putting out a good quality product and it looks like they're expanding their menu to other items like flank steak sandwich which I look forward to trying on my next visit.

We were very disappointed after reading reviews. The buns were dry and need steam. The wiener tasted of fake charcoal. There was no hot sauce on my "original" and the baked beans were canned and the potato salad tasted out of date. This place is over hyped. The best hot dog in the Atlanta is Zesto's, by far. We won't be going back here.

Best hot dog in ATL! Just about everything on the menu is good. I get a Jumbo and chili cheese fries. Texas mustard is to die for; I bought some to use at home.

This place is overrated! My son and I stopped by today for lunch. Three jumbo chili cheese dogs, a fry, one tea, one cup of water ($0.20) and an onion ring later...$24. I will not be returning. I have had better at Checker's.

Recently re-visited and have to raise my rating to 4 stars. I had their signature dog again along with the fresh squeezed lemonade but this time got the onion rings instead of the fries. The dog is cooked over real charcoal which imparts a nice flavor and adds even more snap to the dog's casing. The bun is a very fresh Martin's potato roll which, while still a little too much bread for my taste, is able to hold the dog and any and all toppings; I only opted for mustard and onions this time... classic dog toppings. The lemonade was just as good as last time; it rivals some of the best. Lastly the onion rings were hot, delicately thin and crispy good. The staff could not be friendlier. As an aside, the owner messaged me after my first review. This is a guy who truly cares about his product and his customer so much so that I decided to re-visit and give it another try. Hot dogs are a very personal thing for a lot of people even those who think ketchup is a worthy hotdog condiment... which it is definitely NOT! While Barkers might not be my all time fav it is definitely a hot dog worthy of consideration and definitely worthy of a visit if you're in the area.

Stopped by for take out. Had two slaw dogs and fries. The hot dogs are always fresh and the slaw is always very crunchy. The fries are my favorite. They cook them just right and they're not overcooked. If you go around lunch time, be prepared to have to wait for a seat. It gets very crowded. Also a good idea to pay attention to their hours because they are unusual. Sitting outside is nice in the summertime. Sometimes the line takes a bit too long, but it's worth a visit.

Barkers Red Hots is a hot dog shop located in the busy Terraces at Windy Hill shopping center. This is the same shopping center that houses a Fuddruckers, IZBA Crepes & Grill, Uncle Vito's NY Pizza, Red Elephant Thai Restaurant, and the recently-defunct Hashiguchi Sushi Bar. With so many restaurants and other retail businesses, the parking lot for this development fills up quickly. Not only that, but the spaces are small. Luckily, there's plenty of parking in the back, which many people don't take advantage of. I went to Barkers' grand opening years ago and while the hot dogs were good, my coworkers and I weren't floored. I revisited recently for lunch and the store was busy. The restaurant reached seating capacity and newcomers had to get their orders to go. Barkers makes decent hot dogs and sausages, but they're priced a little high for what you get. For example, I ordered a smoked Polish sausage and a chili-slaw dog. At lunch, these two items alone totaled almost ten bucks (no drink or sides). These are hot dogs we're talking about here. Two regular size dogs should fill most people up. They also have sides (fries, onion rings, salads, etc.) which you order a la carte. All Barkers' dogs are cooked-to-order, usually by the owner himself, on top of a charcoal grill. He's got an open kitchen, so you can watch your dogs being cooked if you want. When your dogs are ready, you let the employees know what toppings you want. I had horseradish mustard and sauerkraut put on my Polish sausage and it was good. This was a store recommendation. I like how the dogs are cooked-to-order, though there's a bit of a wait for them. Both the hot dog and the Polish sausage had a firmer texture and "snap" when I bit into them. The links were plump, hearty, and had a nice smoky flavor from being cooked over charcoal. Pretty much everything except the napkins are kept behind the counter. This includes forks, spoons, cups, and the fountain drinks. If you need anything, you have to go to the front and ask for it. This is a little annoying since most casual joints like this have these types of things self-serve. Note: Barkers is open Monday through Saturday and is closed Sundays. They've been closing early (3pm) each day because of the extreme heat, although I don't understand why since they have air conditioning.

I have such a love hate relationship with this place! Their food is amazing. The dogs are cooked on a grill which makes it nice and crispy on the outside, but juicy and tender on the inside then placed on a soft bun. I like to top it with their special spicy mustard blend, pickles, and jalapenos. A side of their coleslaw and crispy crinkle fries is just perfection. The people serving are always friendly and nice. They recognized us from previous visits and greeted us very warmly. The restaurant itself is a small, brightly colored, and well lit space. It's always clean. They have both indoor and outdoor seating. So what's the hate part of the relationship? Their hours are constantly changing on me I feel like! I can't count how many times I've gone there to see that they're closed. Whether due to a holiday, the owners being on vacation, the changing hours between summer and winter, it being their off day, different hours on different days. Its nuts. So to sum it up, TRY IT! But just call ahead to make sure they're open. -A

I eat there regularly. However, I must admit that I am fixated on the Turkey Dog w/cooked spinach & feta cheese !!!!! (Be sure to get your bum grilled). When one of the employees recommended this dog, (I thought to my self .... Don't know about that) ..... But they said that they were sure that I would like it .... And guess what they were wrong, I didn't like it I absolutely loved it!!!!!!!! Without exception the owners (a married coupe) and the employees are all friendly & efficient, and the service is fast. The atmosphere is pleasant, relaxing, and clean. Plus you have a choice of indoor or outdoor sitting. The only time I do not eat at the Resturant is when I do not have time to stay or specifically want to takes food out. I consider this place one of the very best places to eat in the Atlanta Metro Area. Casual, unassuming, but simply wonderful! If you want a simply wonderful dog (turkey, kielbasa, beet, etc.) with the basics or one of the wonderful combinations that they recommend ..... Then this is the place to go !!!!!!

Eaten here twice now and the hotdogs are just that - hotdogs. Nothing really special. They taste like the ones I cook at home only they are to pricey for what you get. And yes, I can get a hotdog of equal quality to make a home for less money. Their sauce they use is and interesting option that didn't taste good. It might work for some people just not me. I'm an onion, ketchup, mustard and chili person. And for that - no one beats Brandi's spicy chili. Sorry Barkers, you're not bad; you're just not great either. The owners may think I have no clue, but based on their responses to some reviews they have no respect for people's opinion. This isn't personal, I just prefer someone else's product overs yours. Deal with it. Getting upset with me is no way to earn my business; it definitely won't make me even think about giving you another chance.
