I went for the first time today. I always pass this place and it is always busy. That's a good sign. I finally tried it for lunch today. I was seated and given chips with salsa (free refills). Salsa was fresh. Yum. I ordered lunch platter with enchiladas, rice, and beans- very yum as well. I had sopapillas for dessert- yum! Sopapilla is crunchy, thin, triangle-shaped cinnamon toasts/crackers with melted chocolate drizzled over it and whipped cream on the side for dipping. Heaven. Atmosphere is cozy and rustic. Good experience overall. Only one tad bit concern is the hostess needs to stay in the front. She was literally running all over the place multitasking. Customers were entering and waiting to be seated. Myself included. Hostess needs to always stay at the front- her job is to greet and seat customers promptly with menu, nothing else. That's why I give it 4/5. Otherwise it would be 5/5.

Nice place, great food and atmosphere. The carnitas were fantastic. Free sopapilla dessert for Yelp check-in! Bonus when the live piano and wind players started up. Totally incongruous but refreshing and enjoyable. This place is different! Margs were decent too.

This is the best Mexican restaurant in the greater Lawrenceville area. Thursday night is mariachi band night. They are amazing! They play a mix of traditional songs and pop music. My family has tried a variety of items off the menu, and we've yet to be disappointed. Some of our favorites are the fajitas for two, the tostadas, the enchiladas, the nacho supreme, and the chimichangas. They are very accommodating of large parties. My only complaint is that they charge extra for sour cream and shredded cheese. Those small things can really add up. Overall really friendly staff and great food. Also, they have a family restroom with a changing table for small children. It is always clean. This place is always busy because it is sooooo good!

Agavero Cantina is in our neighborhood and it has evolved into a real gem. The past 2 times we have visited, our food experience has been fabulous, and our Waiter (Raphael) was even better - be sure to request him and you won't be disappointed! Lilburn has been in need of a restaurant like this for quite some time. It will definitely be our "go to" Mexican restaurant from now on!

I have loved everything I've had here! The tacos are awesome the enchiladas are plentiful, the guacamole is fresh and chunky #bestiveeverhad, and the margaritas are a must! The service is always GREAT! The standard salsa is perfect, my babies and I love the beans and rice! I must say this is the best Mexican restaurant I've ever visited in and outside Atlanta!

Tonight a group of 15 of us ate here for a work party and to be honest, I had no idea what to expect after reading the reviews. It seems like this was the hot spot a while back, and then changed ownership and things went downhill, but after tonight's dinner. It seems like a lot has changed. This is my first time here and throughout the night the place has been steady with customers. Tonight a gentleman was playing guitar, he was very talented. I saw the manager checking on tables and helping staff and our server, who I cannot recall his name, but he did an excellent job. After working in this industry for over a decade I find myself highly critical of restaurants and I look for how the place is managed, how friendly the staff is, attentiveness of servers and FOH managers, how well the food is prepared, plated, seasoned and how staff members react to issues and solve them. There are quite a lot of things to look at. I do apologize if this sounds tedious. This evening I had the Salmon Salad, which the server highly recommended. It was perfectly cooked I must say, it was pan seared perfectly and had the perfect amount of crust and the inside was flawless. It was medium inside and full of flavor. Fish can easily be over cooked, if not watched. Everyone at our table was happy, the food was great and the service was superb from our male server. He had a good personality and seemed to really enjoy his job, which makes a huge difference. The restrooms here are well kept up as well. Just as a side note, for all those who complain about chips and salsa, give the place a break, it is FREE. If you do not like it, don't eat it, after all, you are not paying for it. I definitely would eat here again. I give Agavero Cantina a solid 4 stars. [Review #323] (Eighty Third Review of 2015)

I should've learned my lesson three years ago when I got food poisoning from this place. But, after three years...I returned for dinner with my boyfriend. We were in the market for taco salads and this place fit the bill with offerings of multiple different salads. Romelia was our server. When taking our order, she did not write anything down...which I feel often leads to mistakes. Which is what happened here. I ordered the chicken fajita salad, which comes with cheese dip, gauc. And sour cream. I recieved the Don servando salad. With grilled chicken, cauliflower, broccoli served hot over a bed of now wilted lettuce and smothered in half an bulbs worth of onion. And a room temp. Ken's ranch dressing. -sigh- Boyfriend ordered a taco salad with carnitas. It seems like he got my salad with his meat choice. So overall. Both salads were messed up. Romelia was too busy across the restaurant listening a male customer complain TWICE about his order being incorrect. I ended up picking through my salad, mainly just ate the salad, and picked alittle off my boyfriends dish. Overall, the food and server were very diaappointing. I'll stick to my usual restaurant down the street. They have better chips and salsa anyways.

Good place to go for margaritas and the food is decent too. Just nothing really special or exceptional about this spot. To be fair, I am judging this place against places that has spent more money on decor like the places downtown. If you compare it to other Norcross Mexican restaurants it is a little better and the only one I will go to. And did I mention the Margaritas are pretty good...inconsistent but when they are good they are great!!

This Resturant is the Bomb dot com!! Its very affordable! It has vegetarian options Awesome! The margaritas were sooo good! I purchased a glass to take home as a collectors item. I went 3 times already excellent everytime! I left my favorite scarf there & they held it for me. I got it back. Freakin love this place!!!!

Authentic Spanish cuisine. Pretty decent drinks too! Nice little local watering hole without all the fuss.

Overall this is a pretty good place. The food & drinks are good. I order the chicken nachos, and my date got chicken quesadillas. They both tasted good and fresh. The queso was a little spicy though. I ordered a frozen strawberry margarita , and boy it was strong and good. The only reason I'm giving them 3 stars instead of 4 or 5, is because the service is slow.

My Favorite Mexican Place has gone down the drain :[. I use to work for the first owners back when it opened in back in like 2008. When it first opened it was amazing, te portions were large & everything tasted great! Even after I left I would go about once or so every week, last year my roommate & I were there every week. I moved back this year & found new owners & the food is going down hill! We have stopped going because I ordered the tacos & almost ate a HUGE piece of plastic. There was barely any meat on the taco so the cook must have not cared. Long story short even though I was given a card for $10 off my next visit. We did go back 3 more times but the new owners are just getting so cheap with everything! We will not be back! SO SAD!

I decided to go back and edit my review. To-go orders are not their thing. Both of the times I ordered to-go, I had to wait an extra 10 mins on top of the time they told me. The first time they forgot my drink and I was in too much of a rush to drive back and get it. The second time they got everything, but I noticed a 50 cent fee for to-go orders. $0.50 is not a lot of money, but I haven't seen a mexican place do this before. As far as the food, it's always been good. My favorites are steak nachos, steak tacos, cheese dip, and chicken tortilla soup w. avocado. Their salsa is spicier than the usual Mexican restaurants, but I like spicy so I don't mind it. When they first opened, I loved their flan, but today it did not taste the same. It doesn't taste bad, just not as great as what I remember.

Yum Yum YUM! I happen to think this is the best Mexican food in the whole Atlanta area. Food is always fresh, flavorful, and fast! Huge menu selection and not expensive at all for the high quality served up. Drinks are moderately priced, but they are always delicious as well. Skinny margaritas, house margaritas, coronitas/margaronas-- so refreshing. Great atmosphere any time of day or day of the week, but for the PERFECT Mexican dining experience, come in on Thursdays for live mariachi music--- these guys can cover almost anything from traditional cantina style though movie themes, pop, and rock (think jobim/gypsy kings/gaga/acdc/eagles)- and they do it well. Ok, well now I want some queso and a quesadilla--- Ayeayeayeayeayeaye!!!!!!!!!!

Great little Mexican restaurant. The staff seem genuinely to care, they are friendly and helpful. Thursday night is a fun night to go since they have a very entertaining Mariachi Band roaming the restaurant. Food is always good and the prices are right.

YUMMY!!! The BEST Mexican I have found in a while. My family has been looking for a new place since we moved to this side of town and we have found it! We will defiantly be back and would highly recommend it to others.

Had a couple meals here. Standard menu items fair to good. Notice they have some good specials. My son had some excellent shrimp fajitas. All in all service was good.

Ordered Nachos Supreme and it was regular nachos when I got home. The waitress said no sour cream comes with Supreme (says the kitchen), so I guess that means no guac and no lettuce and tomato either. I ordered a combo that came with a taco - it wasn't there. The cheese on my burrito was 1/2 melted so it definitely wasn't hot either. Oh well, I tried.

Really more a 3.5 star place, with great service and very good food. Really good, authentic Mexican food, with some nice variations. Poblano chicken, good shrimp fajitas, varied menu. Compares favorably with any Mexican place in the Atlanta area.

Good local spot for a casual lunch or dinner with drinks. Usually at this spot for drinks due to the lack of options nearby. They always have drink specials and the giant mug of beer is awesome and always ICE cold. The food is average. Typical Mexican restaurant menu with nothing spectacular as far as I know.

If you're a vegetarian, this place is one of the few Latin restaurants that can cater to your dietary restrictions w multiple options! Their cheese dip (make it spicy!) and guac are really delicious & the staff is very friendly. They messed up our order, but it was understandable bc it was a busy Friday night. I'd say this place is a major upgrade from the other options in Gwinnett like On the Border & Frontera, (both of which I try my hardest to avoid).

A well oiled machine....the food is classic but what stands out is the service...everyone moving almost in synchronicity, so fast, so efficient...I had to stop the manager and compliment him on such an amazing team.

1st time here and I'm impressed. Large menu. Pretty good prices. Lots of food. And it was delicious. Jairo is a great server with a good sense of humor. He's super quick and makes sure your order comes out right. The Texas margaritas were yummy. I suggest the fajitas or Acapulco cheese steak. The owner even came out to check on us to make sure everything was ok. That doesn't happen everyday anymore. Come here eat and enjoy.

A couple of girlfriends and I dined here while in the area. It's slim pickings in the area when it comes to good restaurants in the area, so Agavero was ranked pretty high. We arrived at around 1pm on Saturday and were seated immediately. Our initial experience was typical--someone brought waters, chips, and salsa. Then, no one came to the table for 20 minutes. We were really surprised at the lack of service as we were seated a few feet from and directly facing the host stand, the restaurant was not busy, and server after server walked past our table without acknowledging us. We finally had to ask a food runner -twice- for service, and this was only after a table directly across from us were seated, greeted, served drinks, and their food order was taken while we sat, dumbfounded, still waiting for a server. However, after an apparent manager noticed, we received excellent service thereafter, even rushing to bring us our drinks and meals. I ordered the frozen mango margarita with the lunch special beef (steak) fajitas. The mango margarita was strong and you could actually taste the alcohol and the steak fajitas were some ridiculous low price, like $7 and came out to be a huge plate of food with lots of well-seasoned, delicious steak. Despite the initial hiccup in service, I would recommend this place and would gladly go here again!

I give a 4 because I'm alone and need to see how they handle things when it's busy and I'm with a group. The Texas Margaritas are pretty good here. I must say they're the best I've had all year. Salsa is pretty stellar too although a few chunks wouldn't be bad. Overall a great spot.

We've gone to AC twice; once around 4 on a saturday, and once at dinner on a Wednesday. Our Saturday experience was great! Fast & friendly service, a large menu with LOTS of vegetarian options, and a quite atmosphere. Awesome salsa! The food was served quickly, and was very tasty. On our second visit, we quickly discovered our waitress spoke very little english. When we asked for a drink menu, we were told they didn't have one. (What?!) Our waitress was only able to say they had margaritas, she couldn't list anything else. We had margaritas and they were good, and the food was too. So, typical mexican menu with extra vegetarian options, very tasty food for a good price, and good service but sometimes a language barrier. And decent margaritas.

This place is awesome! Great food, service, and prices. Everytime i come here i have an enjoyable experience. The bar is spacious and they have an outside patio if you want to enjoy your meal with some sunlight. Great for families and someone looking for quick lunch break bite to eat.

I love it here! Always so accommodating and the food is delicious! Margaritas and fajitas are the way to go on a nice warm Sunday afternoon. We ate out on the patio and even though it's a little more difficult for the servers to be as attentive when you're outside, they still do a wonderful job. Our waitress, Angie, was fun and friendly. Inside, they had a nice soothing live saxophone and clarinet duo performing. 5 stars, and this Yelper and his family definitely approve and recommend it if you're in the Lilburn area and craving a little mexican ;) My check-in also got me a free sopapilla dessert?! BONUS!!!!!

For the price it's the best. Don't go to the mcdonals across the street ,come here and enjoy some tasty food with almost the same price of MCD. The service is friendly and fast, also some good ambiance and decor. Our main concern was food is not that tasty as other Mexican restaurants around this place, also the menu is too big to choose from. We get free appetizer deal when check in through yelp. Overall enough good food for under $10.

Great Old World Spanish atmosphere and a varied menu of Mexican fare (that really has an authentic vibe). The Texas margaritas weren't particularly strong, but they did the trick. My litmus test for a Mexican restaurant is its guacamole...the guac here does not disappoint. It consists of chunky avocado with onion, tomato, cilantro and lime...perfect! We came in to the restaurant about an hour before closing. The restaurant was mostly empty, with the exception of a few patrons and one large party in the main dining area. Service came fairly quickly, and the food was very well prepared. I had soft beef tacos, which were delicious (not greasy at all) and my sister ordered steak tacos with cilantro, one of which I tried - and it was downright delicious! As it got closer to closing, the staff wasn't around as much, so it took a minute to get the check and even longer for her to come back with the credit card, as she was talking with other staff members, one of whom had brought her new baby into the restaurant. The waitress apologized, but it was a bit odd. At any rate, I would highly recommend. There is a patio as well, though I haven't had the opportunity to eat out there yet.

Coming here was a mistake - a horrible mistake. I saw the average Yelp reviews for Agavero Cantina was 4-stars when I came here, and was drawn in by the Yelp deal of free sopapillas with an entrée. What could go wrong? Everything, apparently. Once seated and brought our drinks, our waitress disappeared - for well over 10 minutes! They weren't particularly busy on this Saturday afternoon, so I'm a little perplexed by this. Then, the hostess, seeing that we weren't getting any attention came over in an attempt to assist. She began by taking my wife's order, but when I asked her about one of their menu items, she didn't have the answer so she scurried away to find our waitress (wherever she was) to try to find the answer. Another 5 minutes passes before we are finally greeted by the manager who then attempts to take our order. Again, my wife reiterated her order, and I asked my question again about one of the menu items, his answer being vague (clearly he didn't know the answer). My question? "What is this special sauce that goes on this burrito?" Not asking for any trade secrets here, just wondering what to expect. Anyways, the manager quickly jotted down our food orders and scurried away (before we could tell him the oh so important answer to the question that he didn't ask - "Chicken or beef?". My wife's entrée arrived first because apparently the hostess decided to report an incomplete order to the kitchen (my wife's entrée was input twice - once by the hostess and again by the manager). At this time, our waitress finally reappeared (probably about 20 minutes later) to try to straighten things out - too little too late, I'm afraid. After all of this, the food was HORRIBLE. My wife's chalupa didn't have any meat on it, was soggy and covered with wilted lettuce. My burrito had the driest, most bland pieces of chicken (not shredded) I had ever had in a restaurant. The sauce was nothing like the manager had attempted to describe. We BOTH had to send our food back after only a few bites as they were both totally inedible. Fortunately, I think the manager realized that we were both severely irritated and comp'ed our meal. We left without paying, something neither one of us had done before, never to return. So much for having free sopapillas! This was the worst dining experience I have ever had.

Awesome pretty much summed up my first visit here. Me and my girlfriend visited here last night for my Birthday dinner. The staff (Veronica) was fabulous, her drink recommendation was spot on. The food was delicious. The best part was the Birthday celebration they throw for their guest is absolutely the best!!! I will return and be bring my friends. Thank you Agavera Cantina for a great time!!!!

After After visiting several amercian-style Mexican restaurants in the Lilburn area over the past few years, and being consistently disapponted, we didn't expect much when we visited this place. We were pleasantly surprised. The food is good (just don't go expecting innovAtive world-class haute cuisine), the service is attentive and they've done a very nice job decorating the interior space. Not the kind of place to drive across town for, but definitely worth a spot on your neighborhood go-to list.

One of the Best Mexican restaurants in Atlanta! Our favorite Mexican Restaurant! A mix of great food and margueritas......Nice atmosphere and friendly staff! We like to eat out on the patio!

Pretty much perfect. The owners have a keen sense of what makes a restaurant work. Really great decor and vibe, love the patio area. The menu isn't too pricey, their Texas Margaritas are GREAT, and there are plenty of options for vegetarians (try the veggie nachos - out of this world!) Countdown until La Sabrosita (gross Mexican joint up the street) closes in 5 ... 4 ... 3 ....

I wish I could give less than one star!!!!!!!!! Last time me and my daughter came here I got a funny feeling about the place. We placed our order which was supreme tacos and burritos nothing outrageous. Anyway during this time other patrons have entered the place and placed their orders way after we placed ours and yet their food comes out before ours. I'm like ok must be a miss communication in the kitchen so I let it go. 20 minutes later our food comes out. (p.s. all the booths around us are empty (no excuse for slow service). So that was about 2 months ago. My daughter and I entered the place today (8/3/2014) approximately 7:00pm and the 15yr old looking girl/hostess at the door ask us if we want to eat outside, table or booth. we say booth, she says hold on and goes and look to see if a booth is ready.(now I might mention when you walk in the place you can see booths from the front door and I see that 2 are empty, so I'm like ok trying to give servers a fair amount of tables no problem) so then a Caucasian couple enters and are waiting for her to come back.( yes were African American) So the 15yr old comes back and says a booth is getting ready for us and then she ask the Caucasian couple if they want to eat outside, table or booth they say booth and she picks 2 menus up and says right this way and takes them to one of the 2 booths I can clearly see are open. I cannot make this stuff up (2014 people) as she's walking away with them I'm just staring at her like really right in front of me and my daughters face!!!!WOW, WOW WOW. So she comes back looking like she wants to slink under a table so I guess the servers told her not to sit my kind in their section (I mean how obvious can you get) she grabs 2 menus and say you can come with me so I just looked at her and said no thank you told my child to come on and left. I'm not eating where I'm not welcomed. This happened for real I place my hand on the bible. I don't yelp much but I had to yelp this. I love everybody and I pray one day this despicable behavior will change :(:)

I would recommend this Mexican restaurant. They have mariachi on Thursday evenings and they also have a patio which is nice to eat out when the weather is nice. It's nice to celebrate a birthday here as they sing to you and give you a free tequila shot! The food is good and the service is good, but if you get Jairo as your waiter, it'll be great!

  • Melissa P.

I love this place. Mostly because I am familiar with the owners and the manager :). They are very kind and welcoming. Must have their frozen margaritas! They have a kick to them. As far as food, they have the best salsa there. It has a circuitousness to it. Also, the fajitas, enchiladas, and tacos are scrumptious. Everyone in Lilburn must visit Agavero and ask for Carlos(Best Manager ever!).

Beef fajitas and shrimp diablo. Food was good for the price. The shrimp was one of the better incarnations of that dish. The previous restaurant in the space couldn't pull off a decent version. Margaritas could have been better, the mega pitcher in the back must have had a lot of melted ice because our 1/2 pitcher tasted kind of watered down and the ice cubes were really small. The atmosphere and decorations are pretty nice. I would like to go back and try it during the summer on a weekend on the patio because it seems to have a lot of potential.

Located in the AutoZone shopping center at the corner of Lawrenceville Hwy and Beaver Ruin in Lilburn, Agavero Cantina is a new name/ownership to the long standing family favorite Mexican restaurant at this same location. If you were a fan of the prior restaurant, Agavero is even better! The interior layout is the same, however the decor has been given a face lift. Notice the huge wooden door and the beautifully painted Sunflower floor and entranceway. Peek into the restroom to see the Mexican tiled walls and beautiful rain barrel sink! The patio is definitely the place to head for a shady spot to enjoy the "knock out' Margaritas! Sit down at the brightly painted patio tables and enjoy the soothing ambiance of the stone wall fountain. When you are seated you will be served with the house salsa and chips, but be sure to ask for the spicy salsa that they reserve in the kitchen if you want better tasting more authentic salsa! No matter what you order, you wont be disappointed! So add Agavero Cantina to your list of favorites and make it a regular spot to treat your family and friends. They will love it!

Some of the best Mexican chicken soup in the metro area. In fact, i lived on this stuff all Winter. Excellent Carne Asada & Fajitas which are so huge there is no way you can finish them. Can't think of anything i've eaten here that i did not like.

Not awful, not great. Not special. And for Pete's sake buy a better brand of salsa or better yet make some. It takes more than just capsacin-hot tomato sauce. A little body to it would help a lot.

4-22-13 Update from last review. Ever since the new management the place is not good. I mean how do you screw up cheese dip rice and tacos. The new owners are draggin this place down. They have really cut the portions and do not try to use a coupon. Had a 5 dollars off 25 and hey wouldnt take it. They tried to say it was on food only and the sweet tea and coke were not included but said nothing of the sorts. Use to visit this place on a regular basis ( at least 2 times a week) and after the coupon experience and the portions shinking I will not be back. This is our favorite mexican restaurant. I always get the tacos carne asada and the are so good. Steak portions are piled on high. We have been going for years now and will not go anywhere else. Every once in a while you will get not up to par food or service but nothing to complain about. If you have a problem ask to see the manager and I guarantee he will make it right. If you are in the mood for a drink they have one called the margarona. Margarita with a Corona bottle in it. Great taste and a great buzz. Also I love there salsa. Not to hot, comes out cold and has a lot of taste to it. Give them I try, you will love it. Note: Thursday they have a mariachi band playing. Go check out there face book page for some videos and pictures.

I've been at this place twice. The first time was for drinks and chips...and my mango maragrita was good. The chips need a tad bit of salt (I usually have to sprinkle some on). I don't like the salsa AT ALL! It it watery in it's consistency and needs more flavor...tastes like they buy the cheapest thing on the block! They'd be better off getting a jar of Tostitos chunky medium sauce. So, 2 wks ago, I came back and had the grilled chicken breast with the white nacho cheese on top. It came with rice and some lettuce/tomato on the side. It was very good. One of the highlights of a good Mexican spot is when they bring out the chips and salsa and since they aren't on point with that...3 stars.

Well I think it's fine. Since my old favorite mexican restarant Los Arcos in Stn Mountain lost it, we decided to try this place. For the most part I like it because it's never crowded when we go there, I'm not a fan of crowds. Then there is the food, which gives me all the food I need at a reasonable price, and everything just seems fresh. And I noticed people complaining about the salsa, well yes, it is kind of watered down, but to me thats the best part about it. I hate chunky salsa.

I consider myself a conniseur of cheap Mexican restaurants. Agavero is,by far, the best one I've ever found. Great food. Great Texas margaritas. And a fabulous staff. Go hungery and go often. Try the chimichangas and the spinach(fresh) dip and at lunch the Mexican omlett. Ask for the guacamole salsa if you like it hot!

I visited this place today 11./14 and man was it AWESOME!!! Let me first start off by saying this restaurant Health Score is 100!! How many places have you visited with that score?? Fore me the first!! This place is immaculately clean, spacious, and very CLEAN!! Can's stress how clean this place is.. Now to the FOOD, I ordered the Burritos Tipicos (chicken) and my friend the Burritos Tampico (shrimp). My food was perfect, the cheese was smothered on burrito nicely with jalapenos and not to thick or runny!! Chicken HOTT, shredded nicely with spices. Had to try my friend meal to see if it would be something I would try at another day because yes I will be returning in a few days!! The shrimp was cleaned properly and were plentiful! My friend meal was accompanied with a spicy taco sauce which was sooooooo delicious. I poured most of it on my burrito for an extra kick. Unlike most reviews below I really enjoyed the chips and salsa. 'The chips were hott and thin, not the thick hard chips that some restaurants serve. The salsa was fresh and presented in a nice cute Mexican dish! Not like other restaurants that serve salsa it in a cheap white dish. I walked into this restaurant hungry with low expectations after reading some of the reviews on here but I must admit I'm glad I went! This is by far the best Mexican food i have had in the Lawrenceville, Liburn, Duluth, Buford area. I have tried so many Mexican restaurants and also visited Mexico twice. This is the real deal people, and it's not a hole in the wall. The decor is Mexican, the staff is Mexican and cooks are Mexican.. My waitress was very nice and attentive, the manager and owner stopped by to ask how things were. I did not experience any issues upon my visit. Will return and do recommend to anyone!!! To the drink lovers the drinks looked amazing, I didn't have any because I was driving. When you walk in you will notice a very nice/sophisticated bar and flat screens sporadically around tuned in to ESPN for game lovers. This is not the typical hole in the wall Mexican restaurant. The owner didn't spear any expense with decorations, seating or dishes. Rather than throwing some chairs in four walls he tried to make this a pleasurable dining experience.. So stop reading and just go you wont be disappointed!!!

First I never give 5 stars 5 stars has to be remarkably remarkably good so four is about my tops. When I sat at the bar I was immediately greeted. Ordered 1 of the Texas margaritas it was pretty good and got some chips and salsa. As soon as I tasted the salsa I was like wow this is really good!!! Then I thought about the review from the other people that said salsa was not very good..... what could they have been eating...this is really good salsa! So I asked 1 of the owners he said they change the salsa about 3 months ago... very good. The staff was incredible kept asking me if I was okay if everything was good. Really really nice friendly people working there. The gentleman next to me had a chicken poblano said it was his favorite. Another guest had shrimp and they said it was really good also. I ate earlier but it was late so I thought I would grab a couple of soft tacos for late night munchies they were excellent. If you're in the Lilburn area I would highly recommend this if you're in the mood for Mexican or some margaritas.

If you ask me, these positive reviews sound like they were written by the restaurant staff.!! I have eaten at many restaurants and worked at a few and i have to say Agavero is the only one I will NEVER go back to. I went in with a group of friends and everything was going fine up until we got our bill. We noticed several of our plates had extra charges. When I asked the waitress why, the waitress said she charged extra because the items were lunch plates and they dont count at the lunch price on weekends. Everyother place I've been to will usually let us know before charging extra. So the waitress said she would take the extra charges off and left to get a new reciept. We waited for about 15 minutes when the "Manager" finally came over and told us we should've known and paid attention to the menu. He said he did not believe in taking off charges for anyone. The manager is the reason why i will not go back. He was very unprofessional and just rude. In the past i've heard rumors about this manager's attitude but some of the ex employees but i decided to give this place the benefit of the doubt. WORSE MISTAKE EVER!

I compare the cheese steak soft taco to Los Hermanos Philly cheesesteak soft tacos and they don't even compare. My girlfriend loved her meal and I don't remember what it was but she was hoping I would get something other than the cheesesteak soft taco so becaus eshe knew I wouldn't like it as much as the neighboring Los Hermanos', and she really wants us to return to this place. I told her I'd definitely give something else a try next time so until then...

Service is horrible. I wonder if this place even has a manger. Hostess and servers sitting on their phones at rush hour... we saw our server every 20 mins... took 45 min to get our food. Been here 5 times and every time the service has been horrible. Average food. Clientele either pulls there house where they go or attends meadow creek. Nice build out but service needs to change.

Mexican Cuisine

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.
