Whenever we have a craving for Mexican food that is nearby this is where we go. Good & fast service. Servers are nice and friendly. Yummy margaritas.

First thing I ordered was guacamole which came out bland as ever with no flavor. For $6-$7 I expected it to come out perfect without me having to add salt and lime to it. C'mon that's like the basics of a Mexican restaurant. I also ordered quesadilla and it came out soggy and I barely ate it. I don't recommend this place at all.

The food was ok. The ground beef has nooooo flavor. The chips kinda stale. The drinks watered down. The worst part was the server. She was kinda rude. Almost right when we sat down she asked if we were ready to order. She came back 3x real close together. And kinda stood there. And made a face when we werent ready. And then when we were ready she took 4ever to get to the tbl. And then of course she did the same thing with the bill. The servers are better at el real.

I usually order to pick up. Try the La Lancha (chicken and shrimp) dish. It's always good. Their chips and salsa could be my favorite restaurant combo. Best eaten with an extra side of queso ( white cheese).

We came in on a Sunday evening. They were not terribly busy. We were seated quickly. Everything went downhill after that. My husband and I split entrees because we're trying to lose weight and honestly, just not eat so much. This causes a certain look in waitstaff's eyes as they think their tip is going down. We try to compensate good waitstaff for our more moderated dining habits. We ordered chicken nachos and fries. Not authentic Mexican, but sometimes you just want to smother carbs in cheese, right? I asked for dip with no peppers as I have a sensitive tummy. I can handle the peppers, but I'd prefer to not have to worry about a flaming asshole later. Get the nachos... Cheese with peppers. No big, I can deal with that. The food is kinda flavorless even with the peppers, you know what, no big deal. It's just a-okay. The waitress had been pressuring us prior to ordering to rush, they clear the plates and we're finishing up our tea. A gentleman grabs our chips and salsa to carry away. He takes the check, which had been placed at the edge of the table earlier, and says "there's the check!" At this point, my annoyance got tipped, I'm getting sub par food that isn't what I asked for, I'm being rushed out, and the tea had a stale aftertaste. Come the hell on!! Not going back. They can suck it.

One of mine and my wife's favorite date night locations. Great environment, friendly people, quick service, reasonable prices, amazing margaritas. LOVE IT!

You will not find authentic Mexican food anywhere in the United States other than California. This is simply a FACT. I've been in Georgia for 6 years and this is the ONLY place that comes remotely close to what they offer back home in Cali, and even in Mexico. The chicken burrito with rice (roquette?) is phenomenal. I've yet to dine in and have drinks because it's usually crowded so I grab it to go. I will have to make time for this one day soon. The service is slow but the food more than makes up for it.

My friends and I have been going to this location since this place literally had their Grand opening. We used to always go to Bingo's Monday's and come in on the weekend with a huge group of us averaging a party of 15 every time. We have stop going into the actual restaurant because of how rude the staff has been towards the whole group of us. Last night was my final straw, We went into the restaurant and placed our usually order. I had order a water to drink but once I saw my roommate ice cold beer I wanted one. So I order one and was refused because I did not have my ID on me ,which is understandable. Then Manager took upon him self to watch my every move from that point on. Once we had gotten our food, I started eating and I took a sip out my roommates beer out of pure habit and the manager charged at my table from across the room. That is when the Manager got EXTREMELY rude towards everyone at the table and presided to tell me that I am not allowed to drink in the restaurant because I do not have my ID with me. I fully understand the LAW because I have been a bar owner. He then continue to talk down to me as if I was 16 and sneaking beer from my friends. I literally had to leave the table because of how rude and demeaning he was towards me. The fact that the waiter did NOT even ID my roommate because of how often we are in the restaurant is what upset me the most. Once again I UNDERSTAND THE LAW but the way I was treated over a sip of beer at the age 26 in a restaurant I have been going to at least ONCE week for 5 years has me completely taken back. If the situation had been handled with a different demeanor I would of apologized for my simple mistake but to be talked down to and belittled over a sip of beer is clearly a manager on a power trip. I will NOT be going back at all over this situation. I would recommend getting your food to go or delivered from this Monterrey location because staff has proven time and time again they don't care about customer.

Mexican flavored dog food. When El Real is the clearly better local option, you have to give up. It was never particularly good, but now it's awful

Not a bad Mexican place. The place does smell a little funky. Seems like they load everything with cheese and more cheese. Service is hit or miss.

Food is always a winner! Service has always been terrific. Easy access, plenty of parking in a shopping center. Lunch fare was only 7.00 each! My daughter and I stopped in while running errands yesterday. We have been here several times as this is my favorite Mexican food around. We ordered desert yesterday which we havent done for a while and O M G ...their fried ice cream is the BEST! Its more like what I have always known Fried Ice Cream to be..a must have!!!!

We have been eating at Monterrey for many many years. I've only had 1 (or maybe 2) experiences which were less than excellent. 98% of the time, the food is very fresh, tasty, hot and delicious! Service is great, margaritas are perfect (not too weak, not too strong), and all 5 of us love it. My fave things here: Steak burrito w/vegetables, Texas margarita, and flan (but if you're a flan "purist"... tell them you don't want whipped cream or chocolate drizzle on your flan.... yeah I know, it's bizarre to put that on flan...) 4 Stars - SOLID Tex-Mex food!

This place always gives me exactly the same great service and food. You get what your order and it is always fresh and fast. My boyfriend calls me a pain to eat with because I sometimes send my food back if it isn't what I asked for and I have never had to do this here. Ask for Edgar he is the best server there, very friendly and accurate. They don't however have drink specials but the margaritas and draft beer is reasonably priced and the margaritas are strong- Just the way I like them to be! They offer coupons in the mail and on the back of the local Kroger receipts a great value!

I am from South Carolina. In my home town, there are Monterrey's. At one point, they all had the same menu, and the amazing Quesadilla Roja---a truly divine quesadilla. After a while, they branched out and changed their menus--only one Monterrey's kept the quesadilla roja on their menu, and it became my beloved spot for Mexican cuisine. Why the history lesson? I promise it bears merit. When I moved to Atlanta, and discovered that Monterrey's were also present here, I went on my epic search for the quesadilla roja once more. Ladies and Gentlemen. It. Is. Here. and it is still delicious. Try it with beef. Fall in love with it. The end. PS. I also love their chile rellenos. Meat, cheese, peppers, and spices--what about that could be wrong?

Excellent chicken soup. They honor request to replace rice with black beans. Add extra diced jalapeño. Great lunch for under $7.

By now, you are all pretty much well aware of my incredibly picky food preferences. I love this mexican restaurant. I'm from out West (N. California) and I can honestly say I like this "fake" mexican food way better! I go here pretty often and get a #10 two hard tacos rice & beans & cheese dip. Sometimes the beans are pretty bland but other than that it suits me just fine. We love the front door guy Luis. He is incredibly friendly and always gets us our to go orders promptly. We have been here a couple of times when he was not working and service was pretty slow. But overall, we love this Mexican restaurant & since it's close to our house we eat here pretty often. I would definitely give it a try especially if you have really picky eaters in your life :)

I don't like Mexican food in Georgia. Like, at all. This includes the famed Nuevo Laredo. I have eaten Mexican food out West, and in my opinion, that's what it's supposed to taste like. With that in mind, the Monterrey chain of Mexican restaurants is decent. I'd never eaten anything from the Buford Drive location until yesterday, when I had 5 friends visiting at my house and the person who was going to bring food had an emergency and wasn't able to do so. We ended up needing to get a quick dinner, but wanted something other than delivery pizza or fast food. Someone suggested the idea of getting takeout Mexican. Unfortunately, we didn't have a menu from Monterrey and couldn't find one online. So all of my friends decided what they thought they wanted and then one of them drove up there with a list. Apparently, the staff at Monterrey were perfectly nice about this, and everyone ended up with the food they'd asked for. So at least the service is good. All I can really speak for personally is this dip that I had. My friend had eaten it at another Monterrey location and recommended it. It was queso dip with steak, shrimp and chicken. Now that we have a to-go menu for the Buford Drive location, it doesn't seem to include this dip, so it was really nice that they made it for us. It was pretty good and had a little kick to it. Would I eat there again? Well, like I said, I don't really like Georgia Mexican food. But I'd eat there if my husband (who does like it) begged me.

My boyfriend and I went in on a rainy night before Christmas. I was on crutches at the time so we were sat in the first booth. It was chilly due to the draft and I had to wear my jacket the whole time. They were pretty busy and it seemed as if they only had 2 servers. Ours spoke very little English (which I can understand at a Mexican restaurant), but she got my order completely wrong. We did not receive a refill on our waters and my boyfriend's mouth was on fire from his meal. Our check was wrong and it took a while for us to get the correct one. Overall I won't avoid going back because it is in a great location to our apartment and chips and salsa always fill me up. His beer was nice and cold and he loved his meal.

I like Monterrey's. It's standard American-style Mexican food, but it's done pretty well. I almost always ordered take-out, and my order was always correct and very tasty. My favorite food here is the Chicken Soup. It's fresh and delicious and has almost a whole avocado in it (the take-out size)! I always ask for no rice in the soup and they never have a problem with it. Their chips are actually pretty tasty and always very warm. I've had other things, and they've always been tasty. Overall, this is a nice little restaurant with reasonable prices and friendly employees.

Mexican Cuisine

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.
