This is a quaint and homey little lunch spot nestled in the heart of downtown Lawrenceville not far from where I work, so I've been here on my lunch hour a few times. The aura and décor is bright and very small town inn-ish, and I mean that in a good way. The people are generally friendly and the food is pretty good, but not knock-your-socks-off amazing. Their calling card is their chicken salad sandwich, while very good, I actually liked their potato salad even better. The sandwiches all have a very simple but homemade look and taste. As for the sweets...well, I'm a hearty eater, and I do love my share of sweets but I feel Blue Rooster's desserts/ baked treats are very delicious but a little too sweet. And If you know me and how I eat, that's really saying something. Their famous strawberry cake while very delicious, I felt like I was about to have a sugar coma afterward. But that's just me, others may feel differently. Also I do feel that the prices can be kind of high especially if you get a dessert to go with your lunch. But all in all I give it a solid 4 stars, for atmosphere and tasty food; but with the prices I wouldn't come here too frequently.

Came in for lunch today and ordered a turkey sandwhich with a potato salad. Food wasn't bad, but I don't know if I'd pay 8 bucks for a sandwhich and a side of potato salad. I also ordered a brownie which I was so excited to eat! But turned out to be stale and dry.. not the chewy fudgy brownie I wanted.. :( service wasn't friendly either.. :( sadly I don't think I'll be back for lunch..

Delicious food and nice folks. We stopped in for a small breakfast and we ordered the ham and cheese croissant. It was simple, yet delicious. The croissant was flaky and soft. I had an iced coffee and my husband had a hot Milky Way coffee. Both were delicious. It was around 9 am when we went so it was too early for sweets. We got some to go though and they look and smell delicious. We did have some of the cream horn and it was too good. This is more of a lunch kind of place. The lunch menu is very expansive and we will be back next weekend to try the chicken salad lunch box. I must also comment on how nice and professional the people working here are. They were very nice and patient with everyone.

Adjusting the review a little bit. Sandwich is still great and so are their cookies and sides. I finally turned around to try their breakfast menu, in my case, croissant and ham, and decided to deduct one star. Nothing too much to say, it wasn't great, and it wasn't bad by any means. Just plain ordinary stuff you can make at home with Costco's croissant and cut of a ham. Had I not been looking forward to their breakfast, maybe just maybe I would have kept it at four stars, but nah. Also for the deduction of the star is for their coffee. Maybe I was the first one to order the coffee but the smell of the coffee was a definite turn off. Tasted a bit weird and funky smell. I didn't bother talking to the lady at the counter. I noticed it few times now but the lady at the counter mumbles quite few times and if I heard it correctly, she's just mumbling random rants about who she works with. She isn't to a point where I'll say she's not friendly, but I can definitely see her getting to the level. I wish the best of the business, and will still occasionally stop by to grab a sandwich or desserts but probably no more breakfast from here.

Outstanding selection. The peanut butter cookie dipped in chocolate is sinully delicious. They do a great job on birthday cakes and my family enjoys the cake pops.

Once again, score for lawrenceville downtown. This place situated behind the courthouse looking building has some decadent homemade desserts the owner is really friendly. She makes everything herself. The prices are reasonable. I propose trying the strawberry cupcake, strawberry bar, sugar cookie sandwich. Actually try everything here. Some of the frosting can be a tad sweet but the moistness of the cupcakes make up for it. Highly recommended. Street parking mostly. They also serve coffee.

Consistency is key and one of the wonderful things about this place. It's a family favorite, great for lunch. I'd suggest the option where you can try three things or the chicken salad sandwich, easily one of their best dishes. They also have a plethora of desserts, among them cakes, cookies, and brownies. A bit expensive, but since they're all baked fresh, it's worth it.

My favorite lunch place on the Lawrenceville square. I almost always get the same thing when I go - chicken salad on croissant - it's my fave! They have a large selection of baked goods and everything is HUGE. Like you can eat half one day and the other half the next day...if you can wait that long. :) They also do coffee drinks. It gets really busy at lunch!

While the service hasn't always been the fastest, the food has always been excellent. There is a huge variety of freshly baked treats every day. I've never been disappointed with any item I've purchased. For the past couple of years, we've ordered anniversary cakes from Blue Rooster. The orders were ready when promised, and the cakes were just gorgeous! My husband isn't a huge fan of sweets, but he enjoyed the cakes from BR. I stop in as often as I can.

This little place is heaven for the carb addict. I went in today and saw that they served lunch and the menu looked good, but when I saw about 30 or more sweet selections in front of me, it was game on. I have to say THE.BEST.CAKE.I.HAVE.EVER.HAD. And I know cake. They had about 5 different flavors you could order by the slice and they were all about 7-8 inches tall and made perfectly. They have the largest cake pops I have ever seen, the cookies are about the size of one of those small tortillas, and the brownies could feed a small village. Let's just say size matters in this bakery. There were also personal cheesecakes, pies, cannolis, you name it. I felt like the fat kid in Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. I took a goodie box to a family gathering and it was gone in no time. It just saddens me that I don't live near this place. Perhaps I could talk the owners into opening a Blue Rooster of Seattle? Get a location next to one of our new recreational marijuana stores and make a killing!

Have visited this cafe more than once in hopes the attitude of the staff would improve but to no avail. Noticed this was a complaint before their Lilburn location closed. On the door of the cafe it states the place has been there much longer than it actually has. They are "adding" the years they were in Lilburn which I think is tacky. Food is ok and pricey. Desserts are good. Wish them the best although don't know how you'll make it when you appear to not like what you're doing and it shows. Probably won't patronize again. Would rather patronize a place where the staff is friendly and my business is appreciated.

I recently visited this happy fun bakery/eatery after hearing my family talk about it and loved it! The homemade food was awesome, the ambiance inviting, and this place is very clean with beautiful decor. Had no troubles with the staff, found them friendly and eager to please. Parking is great as there are plenty of spots next to the building. Their chicken salad is awesome, and don't miss out on the desserts. Take a cupcake to go!! I've been feeling like Downtown Lawrenceville has been quite stale for a while and I'm so grateful my friends and family have a new happy upbeat place to eat and hang out on the square. I'll definitely be back soon!

This is an adorable little spot on the square with a lot of charm and very friendly service. Bright and cheerful, I recently visited for lunch with four generations of our family (grandma, mom, me and my daugther.) It was a perfect lunch spot for a day out with the ladies, and we showed up a little ahead of the lunch rush (and it does rush at lunchtime!) We shared the favorite chicken salad sandwich plate and also another chicken salad plate to taste the potato salad, pasta salad and fruit options. Personally, I loved the potato salad best. The pasta salad was also great. The chicken salad was good, but a little sweet to me. Its certainly a great place for kids too. My two year old loved picking a colorful cupcake. I would definitely go back.

this place is def. a gem. We are new to the area and stopped in for coffee and some treats to take home and had to go back for lunch. There are a lot of complaints on google and I see one here about the staff's attitude. There is a younger blond girl who you can tell isn't really enthused to be there but she was still polite and the other two people who have served me were very pleasant, esp. the young man that works there who went out of his way to strike up a conversation. After the great desserts I went back for lunch and was not disappointed! The chicken, pasta, and potato salads are all AMAZING! the pasta salad is my favorite, a must try. we have been back several times and can't wait to go back! It is also SUPER clean inside which i appreciate with a bright cheery interior. Also I don't see a problem with them "adding" the time they were in Lilburn on the door. Those are the years they have been operating as the Blue Rooster, it doesn't represent that is how long they have been at that location.

I used to go to the Blue Rooster when it was in old town Lilburn, and it hasn't changed a bit. I obviously had their legendary Chicken Salad Sandwich. It was heavenly! Although I miss them being in their old location (which across the street from my job now), their new location on the square is perfect. The decorations are adorable and its just quaint! I also ordered the raspberry white chocolate latte......YUMS!!!! I need that in my life everyday and all day. It was semi sweet but not over the top. Hot but not scolding hot. It was just plain delicious and I recommend it to everyone. It is the perfect place to have brunch at or to take mom on Mother's Day. I will be going back there as soon as I get down to the square again.

I think it's delicious. Best chicken salad I've ever had and pasta salad deeelish! Space is cute and comfy, nice enough to sit for a little while and cool off from the heat. I do have 2 suggestions, put a water pitcher out for guests to serve themselves and get rid of that terrible fake cream on the condiment bar. I know more and more places are switching to the fake stuff, but no place that serves that junk is a legit coffee bar. Real cream please!

The service is slow. It's a bit pricey for lunch. Portions are adequate. I ordered chicken salad, pasta salad and fresh fruit. The chicken salad is their claim to fame and is pretty good. I think Costco does a better job. The pasta salad is tasty but a bit soggy for my taste. It's nice that they use several varieties of pasta giving it nice texture. The fruit was perfect. The pastries look good, but I really didn't want to wait in line again. Maybe next time.

Yummy sandwiches and desserts. This is a cute little shop with a very friendly staff. There are a ton of dessert choices. I tried the strawberry cake and it was excellent. We also sampled the white chocolate chip and a peanut butter cookie. Delicious. I take half a star for the use of styrofoam for the dine in experience. It seems like the place would benefit from the use of real plates because it doesn't feel cheap until you get this great dessert on a styrofoam plate. I would definitely recommend this place for lunch.

The pastries are incredible but, Wow! Great Original Chicken Sandwich. Can't wait to try all their lunches.

This place is very quaint and decorated very nicely. It was fairly busy for a Saturday. My husband and I both ordered the box lunch with pasta salad. I had a chicken salad sandwich and my husband had pimento cheese. Chicken salad was decent but nothing special. The pimento cheese was awesome tho! I had the chocolate chip cookie and my husband had a brownie, both were delicious. They had a ton of desserts which i would like to go back and try sometime, along with their coffee. Our total for lunch was $23 plus tip. I will definitely go back.

I didn't love the Blue Rooster, yet it's not really their fault. See I'm a guy:) I went here with a colleague for lunch. The decor was nice, white on white, with the Blue Rooster icon here and there. It's got a bit of a country cottage feel to the place. The menu had some nice sandwiches, salads and soups. The waitstaff pleasant and polite. The restaurant had about 15 tables, 1/2 of the filled with politely conversing and fashionable ladies. I think Oprah would love this place! I'm not trying to be fresh..it was really very nice. Yet so is the sweater you get from Nana every Christmas. Take her here, maybe your mom too, they will love it:)

I don't think I've had anything bad here from the bakery. They have this strawberry cake that is fantastic. And there is this peanut butter stuffed cookie that is half dipped in chocolate and has a chunk of Reese's cup sticking out of it, it may give you diabetes just by looking at it but it's so good. So good.

The first time I went there I had a sandwich. I don't even remember anything about it. Not that it wasn't good, but then I had a piece of their strawberry cake. It was love at first bite. Just heavenly! Now I go back all the time just for the strawberry cake. You have to get there early though. It sells out fast!!

I have never had anything from here that I didn't absolutely love. I am a meat-eater, and even their veggie sandwich is awesome and totally filling (I am one of those naysayers who never thinks anything vegetarian is any good, or doesn't leave you hungry). My only complaint is that I go there for lunch and can't help but buy some of their yummy treats too! My waistline is not pleased! I work nearby and we always get their cakes or other baked goods for office parties. Everything is wonderful.

Very cute ladies who lunch cafe and bakeshop. The chicken salad was passable, though a bit chewy. The potato salad was ok. The pasta salad was delicious, and the shining star of the 3 salad plate. My lunch mate and I also sampled the Chai Latte and found it wonderful. The desserts we had were both delicious. This is definitely the spot to come for wonderful baked goods. I'm not sure how their other lunch fare stands up, but if I come here again I'll pass on the salads and try a sandwich and perhaps the soup. I'll also bring a jacket - it was pretty cold during our visit.

This is a cute cafe that is tastefully decorated and very clean. There are so many delicious options to choose from! There are about a half dozen sandwiches, that you can pair with a variety of sides, including salads and soups. And the desserts - wow! Can't go wrong with any of the tasty options. There is also a full coffee bar. A must-see in Lawrenceville!

I had heard great things about this place but had never made it in until today. The place is cute and cozy and immediately walking in it feels like the best kind of mom and pop shops. I Ordered the chicken salad sandwich on a croissant and pasta salad. The sandwich was delicious-so good we ordered a pound to go. The pasta salad was also one of the best I've had. Overall, I would definitely recommend this place and can't wait to come back!

They have the best cupcakes. These cupcakes have the perfect textual - not too hard and not too soft but the cake is still moist and smooth. Taste is fantastic. My husband and I love their chocolate and spiced cupcakes. They also have the best chocolate cake... Yum!!

Popped in for my first visit on a rainy Thursday around two. I work in Lville and will admit there's not much it offers. The square has been hurting for a bit. Lawrenceville doesn't offer much of a fall, harvest time feel either. So I was very pleased that a bake shop would be open until 6, that parking was available beside and behind the cafe and the decor was bright, cheerful and touched on fall. Yes, you will also make note of how clean it is. I ordered half veggie sandwhich/half daily soup which was broccoli cheese. I travel frequently and it lends to enjoying very good food and becoming spoiled. The pesto on sandwhich was very flavorful, the roasted red pepper a nice touch, the wheat bread was bland. Maybe offering a nice challah that could be used for both sandwhichs and an easy french toast would be an option. Alfalfa spouts and spinach would also be great touches for this sandwhich. Soup is my favorite food but broccoli cheese can be so thick and cheap tasting, however, The Blue Rooster did a pretty good job on their soup. I also picked up a lemon gooey bar. This The Blue Rooster has perfected! I could have kicked myself for not trying one of their many offerings from the coffee bar. All in all, a nice spot to come later in the day with a book and a quiet lunch. A spot to meet for coffee and baked goods and perhaps a place for lunch. I'd swing by again to try the salad choices as well.

I love visiting downtown Lawrenceville for McCray's and Local Republic, but definitely wanted a more casual place, especially for lunch. Blue Rooster's a cute little shop with a big parking lot of its own. The decor is cute and rustic, and their chalkboards filled with cafe drinks and their cases filled with cakes, whoopie pies, cookies, and cupcakes are enough decor in itself. I had the chicken salad sandwich on a croissant with pasta salad along with a red velvet cupcake. Everything was delicious and fresh- the chicken salad was a perfect blend of sweet and savory! I wish I had gotten to try one of the drinks, but I was too full from my meal. Another cool thing about their location is that you can easily take the food to go and walk just across the street to the gazebo or picnic tables outside :)
