We visit El Nopal regularly. Based on their friendliness, speed of service, and value, it is my all-time favorite Mexican restaurant.

This is our favorite Mexican place by far! It's a shame that we are moving across town, because this place has the best Texas Margaritas! The food never disappoints, the servers are great and the prices are too. The manager Adrian really takes care of us since we are a regular. You can also sit outside on their patio. :)

This is my favorite Mexican place to come to! Food is delicious, staff is always friendly. Their salsa is to die for. Highly recommend if you're looking for good Mexican food.

Tonight I decided to try something different. I had the Mexican shrimp cocktail. It was awesome!! It was kinda like a spicy gazpacho with shrimp. I will definitely order this again. I don't know how I have dined here for over ten years, and never tried this!!

Our server was extremely rude to us, she was in-attentive, and disrespectful. The food was o.k., but took a long time to come out. Very disappointing service.

So much better and cheaper than the new place next door. I don't want to give their name. Five stars if the margaritas were better.

This is one of our regular stops. The staff has had some turnover recently so there has been a drop in service, but the food remains great.

Well...cleanliness and service get a 5...also nice decor. Not as ticky-tacky as most Mexican restaurants. Food was probably a 2. I just am picky about Mexican food...and all the Mexican restaurants that I've been to taste the same! It's so frustrating! The chips were very light and fresh...the salsa was spicy (it's usually sooooo bland). A nice touch was that each of us (4 people) got an individual bowl for salsa, so you didn't have to worry about double-dipping. Very nice! I ordered the lunch fajitas. You got 5 really nice, warm flour tortillas, rice, beans, and a large serving of chicken (or beef) with peppers and onions. Not served on the cast iron skillet and, judging by the limpness, I am guessing it is prepared well in advance then nuked when you order it, which was very disappointing. Flavor was ok, but it obviously had not been freshly grilled. I'm not a big meat eater and my favorite part of fajitas is the crisp tender onions and peppers...you know what I mean...where they are fresh but with that little bit of char around the edges... these were NOT like that. :( Also, you got NO toppings for the fajitas...no lettuce, no pico, no cheese, no sour cream...zippo! Also, because it wasn't served on the hot skillet, it got cold FAST. That being said, lunches were on special today and you got ANY lunch (including fajitas, which are normally $6.99) AND your drink for $5.50. Let's face it, you spend more than that at McDonalds! So for my $5.50, I was full, although not impressed.

One of my favorite quick eat spots. I always get to-go orders, but they are always hot, fresh, and correct. I love this place!

5 Stars on affordability! This place can be summed up three ways: 1. Inexpensive food with large portions (Not great but not bad either) 2. Inexpensive bar (32oz beers and margaritas for less than 2/3 the price of other restaurants) 3. Friendly service (every one smiles and seems to be happy to be employed there) This place is nothing fancy. But they do a very good job with what they offer. I think this place is perfect for people on a budget or families that don't want to go broke on a night out with the kids. My wife and I tried several dinner selection and sat at the bar for several hours enjoying a round of margaritas and several large beers. The total bill was less than 55 bucks! Anywhere else the drinks alone would have been this much. As I said before, the food isn't GREAT but it is tasty, large and very affordable. When I just want to get away but not in the mood for a fancy $100 per person meal and have a few drinks and some chow, I will differently be back to this place! As a side note. They do have a couple TV's in the bar with plenty of bar stool and side booth seating. Bar tender is very friendly.

My favorit Mexican restaurant ever! The service is outstanding and the food comes out super quick! When you get the guacamole make sure to ask for it chunky, otherwise it will be so whipped that it looks like baby poop! Are you hungry now? Great and affordable food I promise you won't regret it!

Not horrible, but will not be coming back. Chips and salsa were average. My fajitas did not come out sizzling; they had been sitting in the back a while. They were also missing tortillas; Had to ask for them. Everyone's food was mediocre. Nothing special.

Excellent food at a great price. A colleague of mine had told me about this place. So, I decided to try it tonight. After this, I will not be going back to la parrilla (which is my usual Mexican restaurant). The waitress was friendly and helpful. Overall, great place.

My family has eaten here many times before and it is definitely one of our go to Mex. This time the kids were out of town so the wife and I went by our selves. These precious moments!!! We had guac and chips for appetizer and split a Pollo con Crema. We ate the entree with tortillas. Why have we never done this before? It was great. We ate on the patio and there were too many flies and the music was too loud. So I'm not sure we would eat out there. But I'm not taking points off for that, only that I felt our waiter should have been a touch more attentive. But the taste of the food is more important to me than the service usually.

Local joint that has tasty and very reasonably priced Mexican food. Not great, but very good and worth a visit when in the area. I enjoyed a plate of the Enchiladas Supreme for $6.95 and it was well worth it. Try the Stuffed Pablano Peppers as well for more spice. Excellent.

Beautiful chicken and rice soup! It was filling with huge chunks of chicken, avocado, tomato and rice but not heavy. I went for lunch with a friend on a Thursday afternoon. We were a little ahead of the lunch crowd which wasn't large that day. The staff was friendly and attentive, but not obtrusive so my friend and I had a great conversation. We lingered a little after the rest of the crowd left and weren't pressured to rush out. Decor is bright an open. Only problem: no Coke Zero.

Mexican Cuisine

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.
