Here with the family for a lovely fiesta. The star of the show is undoubtedly the light-as air tortilla chips, delicately salted and served warm as they are homemade on-premise. The flour tortillas are also homemade, and you can watch them being cooked on a rotating hot-top, through a window into the tiled kitchen. The decor is colorful and whimsical - strands of bright fish along the ceiling, lovely painted tilework, and traditional photos of ancestors. The food is generously portioned - entrees and combo plates for under $10, served with so many extras. I had a second meal's worth of leftovers on my vegetarian combo plate. The chile relleno was fun and flavorful, breaded and filled with oozing cheese. The refrites were hearty and the veggie enchilada had nicely cooked vegetables inside. A lovely meal out with the family.

Pretty decent Tex-Mex overall. Three stars bumped up to four. A group of fifteen from my office showed up, with prior notice. We were seated fairly quickly. Right off, I have to say that our single server for this large group was outstanding. We even had one person show up ten minutes or so after everyone had placed their food order and she still got her tacos with the rest of us. Bravo. Chuy's apparently started in Austin, 1982, when I was going to UT. So, I probably ate there at least once. I have to think that their original restaurant thirty-two years ago probably bore little resemblance to what the Chuy's franchise is now. Or maybe it did, I can't remember. I was under the influence most of the time back then. Whatever the heritage, the space in the Kennesaw Chuy's is a bit cliché bordering on tacky, but that's actually OK. It's not boring. I'll put this on a separate line: there was no loud music! Yay! They get an extra star for that. We actually had the ability to converse, and we did. On to the food. Chile relleno is breaded, unlike most which are battered - not very spicy but tasty. I ordered the cheese version. Chicken enchilada - a little dry but still good. Perhaps putting some of the sauce (or more of the sauce) inside the enchilada would lessen the dryness but it's not a big deal. Hatch green chile sauce - drizzled on relleno and enchilada - not enough so I didn't get a sense of the sauce's flavor. I really like Hatch chiles, particularly the hotter version. I don't think Chuy's uses the hotter version. Creamy jalapeno chip sauce - basically ranch that was briefly introduced to a jalapeno chile. Ranch is one of my favorite chip dipping sauces, probably because that's what we served in the restaurant where I worked in Austin in 1982. I lived on chips & ranch. Charro beans - really good. Queso - an acceptable version. Many at our table drizzled it over their entrée. Very popular. Guacamole - average, maybe less so. The bowl had shredded lettuce at the bottom which made it seem like more but also made it hard to scoop with chips. I'd prefer they left out the lettuce. Not much flavor. Unlimited Diet Coke refills - including an unasked for to-go drink. OK, I guess, but the drink is still sitting on my desk at work, undrunk. A bit of a waste. I didn't poll my tablemates for their opinions - because I don't do that - but one of my co-workers who knows I Yelp remarked that his meal was good quality but needed more kick. Mind you, this is the guy who always takes some of my garden chile peppers when I bring them in. And I grow the super-hot variety. So, he's damaged goods as far as being able to judge picante. As am I.

We didn't like it. The food was pretty bad and burnt to the plate. My burrito had little flavor. The salsa was okay, but they never refilled it even after we asked. We won't go back especially with so many other options in the area. Meh.

This is the best tex-mex we've yet to find!! Everything was great from the service and fabulous food to the fun atmosphere full of customers' dog photos and tiny bowling pins! Yes, they hid 25 teeny tiny bowling pins throughout the restaurant and if you find them all, you get a prize! and did I mention the AMAZING white salsa they serve FOR FREE with your chips?! Think mexican ranch, it's awesome! All of our food was fabulous and fresh. We can't wait to go back - this will surely become a regular establishment for us.

The service was slow, the beef taco salad was all lettuce with a small scoop of meat and a dusting of cheese..had to wait 5-10 min on the dressing. We gave it a try...will not be back

For this genre of Mexican restaurant, I think that Chuy's is a pretty good choice and ahead of the rest (eg, On the Border). That said, it's not super special for Mexican fare. Typical chips & salsa plus a ranch dressing-like dip. Always have to be careful not to each too much before the meal! Portions are generous. The tortilla soup was just okay - tasted like standard chicken noodle soon with some chip strips and avocado. The fish tacos were good. The vegetarian tacos were just a pile of guac. The burritos are jumbo sized. A fun atmosphere and service was attentive. The magaritas were okay although I had mine on ice and it was mostly ice. So, 3 stars is my rating.

Chuys is the best tex-mex restaurant! The restaurant is very colorful and vibrant! My husband and I visited the Chuy's Smyrna, TN and so glad they brought one to Kennesaw. The food is still as delicious as I remembered. You can't go wrong with the fajitas and they are enough for two people to share as an entree. Today I ordered the combination plate with enchiladas and tacos and it was awesome! The beef taco was my favorite and the beans and rice are nicely seasoned unlike most Mexican restaurants. The food tasted freshly prepared and seasoned well. My mother ordered the Baja fish tacos and she loved them. She never finishes her food and she cleaned her plate! Did I mention the tortillas are fresh and homemade in house

Always delicious. Chickachicka boom boom enchiladas are my fav but the Chile relleno is fantastic too!

Being from Texas, I have had the opportunity to eat at several Texas locations of Chuy's. This location, however, is not worthy of having the Chuy's name attached. Ordered the Southwestern enchiladas like I normally do: blue corn tortilla was chewy, chicken inside was in chunks and hard to chew, and most disappointing was the "Hatch" green chili sauce. It was as far away from ANY color green, lukewarm, and totally bland. My co- worker had an enchilada that the as simply a tortilla rolled around something inside- she did not eat it. VERY disappointed in the meal, and this is NOT Chuy's quality. Surprised if this location is open six months from now.

I'll start with a broad reference to Dave and Busters... In the sense you see it very easily from a busy road, but not quite sure how to get there! Ha! Once inside, it is way bigger than it appears! Excellent outdoor seating. Very much has a 50's diner vibe when you first walk in. I believe my wife's quote was "Wow, they have so much going on with the decor, it actually works!" We were greeted and seated fairly quickly.... Though it was a little after 5.30 on a Sunday. Not a single TV insight. Lil disappointing considering the Falcons were playing. Though catching the 2nd half at home, that was prob a blessing. We had great service throughout too! And my wife, son, and I intially ordered waters. For some reason, I feel that can affect the service... What do I know! Now what matters! The food!!! Everything is super fresh! Starting with the salsa and chips! Though the chips are so thin and crispy its a lil tough to load 'em up! And I so wanted too! Wife order just a single taco and nothing else... Wasn't on the menu as far as I saw, but the had no problem honoring her request. And good thing! Tacos are pretty big! Think they charged us less than $3.50. And it was a value! My son got the kids tacos. Basically 3 tapas tacos! Stuffed! It was plenty for a 12 year old boy. He is not yet a foodie so just got chicken and cheese only. Had to be a breast of chicken total! Personally I got the taco plate. 2 huge chicken tacos, rice, beans, pico, cheese, guacamole... Added the table salsa. Was amazing! Soft shells a little brittle to handle all that I stuffed them with... Basically everything on the plate. Net net, family is unanimous at 4 stars and looking forward to returning and exploring the menu. And perhaps adding a star

***IF YOU MUST EAT GLUTEN-FREE, a manager will actually come to your table to talk with you. My mother who has Celiac's felt the one with whom she spoke was very nice and that there were a lot of options for her. The food was awesome here! I'm a huge Mexican food fanatic so I was skeptical but it really surprised me. One way I judge Mexican restaurants is by their chips and salsa. The chips were light and crispy, but the salsa had much to be desired. Part of their menu shows all these different dips you can order so you're not stuck with the salsa and I have to recommend the jalapeño cream! I've never had anything like it before with my chips...YUM! The queso had lots of flavor and wasn't the generic dip many Mexican restaurants aquire from Cisco. The restaurant was very bright and fun! It was very clean with one exception...my knife. Your place setting are set inside these sealed paper punches that note how the silverware is sterilized for us, but I had a feeling all they offered was a false sense of security. My knife had crusty food stuck on it. I'll give them another chance since I've heard great things and this was my first visit, but this is why I docked a star because cleanliness is a big deal to me. The waitress was very apologetic. Overall, I enjoyed it. The food was fresh, portions were good without being too overly generous, and I wasn't distracted by loud music blaring throughout the restaurant.

I really enjoyed my first meal experience here besides the hostess. She rudely told us to wait while she was finishing a personal conversation and the other girls up front were asking her to seat us. That was quite unprofessional. After we were seated however, everything was great! I ordered a fajita and was impressed with the tenderness of the chicken. It was perfectly seasoned. Their jalapeno cream dip is increadible! My wife had a Baja taco which was reportedly delicious as well. Our waitess Leila was very attentive and pleasant throughout our whole meal. Discounting the issue with being seated, it would have been a 5 star review.

I've heard many great things about Chuy's and am happy to report I finally stopped in! Most of my friends have gone during their Nacho Happy Hour thing, where there's free unlimited nachos, and my friends pay for a drink or two to tip their servers. Alas, we missed out on nacho happy hour and came for regular service. Before getting into the food, I need to talk about the tacky decor on the inside. It's super mix and match, and the pictures are creepy. They're old Mexican portraits where people don't smile and seem to watch you eat your food off 1950's diner style tables and chairs (complete with sparkly red vinyl seats). Not all the tables are this same style, but they are another one that clashes with yours. And, all of this is in a room painted bright pastels with Mexican designs on them (can't think of the specific name). Overall, it's an onslaught to the senses and doesn't make me feel like I traveled to Mexico or whatever to eat lunch. The complimentary chips and salsa almost filled us up. The house salsa is a nice tomato-based salsa, and the chips were a little salty but a good thickness and fresh. We also got some other sauces on the side to try (also complimentary!): boyfriend had some spicy one that was a blend of two other sauces, while I had the Rachero (aka, kid-friendly sauce because I'm a spicy food wimp!). Although it wasn't spicy-hot, it was flavorful! Because it was the middle of the afternoon and we had already eaten a lot of chips and salsa, boyfriend and I split an entree. We opted for the "Lite Combo" with chicken: a chalupa and a soft flour taco with guac on the side. The chalupa was one of the best I've ever had, and tasted more like a huge nacho, which we loved! Topped with some Rachero sauce and guac, it was awesome. The taco was good, too, especially with the same toppings. But I'd come back just for chalupas. Our only criticism is that the meat wasn't seasoned, and the dishes seemed to rely on the sauces for flavor. I'm not sure if that's their thing, but it was weird to have such bland chicken because other Mexican places serve seasoned chicken. I think if Chuy's were to add more flavor to their chicken, it would kick the whole menu up a couple of notches. I'l be back, but probably for takeout only. The decor was a little too much for us to handle.

We went there the Sunday after they opened and while the food was great, the service was not. It seemed they were still getting their act together and training folks that were new to waiting on tables. We let the manager know, decided to give them a few days and tried again. Our second experience was wonderful. The food was still great and the service was top notch. Dalton and Henry were all over it making recommendations, right there to give us more chips and refill our drinks and also letting us in on the little "secrets" of the restaurant (e.g. request the creamy jalapeno dip in addition to the salsa). One of them was "in training" so they were working together to make sure they got it right. In addition, they had others watching from elsewhere in the dining room to ensure things were working smoothly. We talked to the manager (Michael) to let him know and he was genuinely appreciative to hear it. Prices are reasonable, the quality is fresh and the portions are huge. My wife ordered the steak fajitas and had plenty to take home for a second meal. It tasted just as good the next day. Here are a few tips; 1. Ask for the creamy jalapeno dip 2. Steak fajitas are the bomb - marinated 24 hours and super tender 3. Chile Rellenos - made fresh and not frozen, lightly fried and full of yummy goodness 4. They have mini bowling pins hidden in the restaurant - see how many you can find 5. Chicken - try grilled over pulled. Both are good but grilled is better. 6. Comida Deluxe - huge platter with lots of variety 7. Fresh made tortillas - go see them being made 8. Choose the green hatch chile rice over Mexican rice (it is a bit spicy) 9. Don't forget to see the Elvis shrine on the way to the bathroom. We are going back again tonight and hope that they continue to keep service smooth so it is on par with the great food.

Stay away from the cheese burrito. I had a tough time finishing it. The restaurant is pretty average to me

Food was not what I was wanting or expecting. The Taco Salad was nothing more than a regular salad in a taco shell.. It took 10 minutes to get dressing. Chicken was grisly and fatty. The restaurant was extremely cold but a nice family atmosphere. Great with kids. One side is designated for kids only. It was a new idea but won't return again.

Aweful food. Me and 2 friends were disguised, food came out 35 minutes after we ordered and the place was near empty. Food was probably sitting for 15 minutes before being brought to us. We couldn't even eat the food. Also ordered an alacart cheese enchilada that was small and unappetizing for $3.99. This place probably won't last long. Unfortunately we were extremely dissapointed, service was decent and that's the only reason this place gets 1 star in my book.

I've been here twice and I'm just not that impressed with this joint. It's not terrible but it's not really that great. Service was not good the last time we went... Took awhile to get drinks, chips and salsa. sigh. The salsa is pretty tasty and so is the jalapeño ranch dip so def check that out. The hatch green chile sauce is pretty tasty but spicy.

I will say that the service is good and I love the atmosphere. The food has been disappointing the last couple of times I have come, however. It's not that it's terrible. It's just very bland. I have had better Mexican food at every other Mexican restaurant I have been to. I doubt I'll be back.

This was one of the most frustrating 1:45 meals that I've had in many many years. My sons and I went here for dinner on 1/24/15. We were going to go somewhere else, but the wait was over an hour, so we decided to go to Chuy's. The lobby was very crowded, so we asked how long the wait was and were told 25-30 minutes. 30 minutes comes and goes, so does 35, and 40, and 45. I was standing right next to the list, so I was watching it. There were 3 other groups seated that arrived after us. Two of them were 2 people so I get that the were likely seated at a 2 person table. However, a group of 5 that arrived at least 25 minutes after we did was seated before we were. I didn't say anything because we were next on the list, but that definitely was just not right. How can someone that arrived 25 min after we did get seated before we did when we've been waiting for 50 minutes??? When we got to the 50 minute point, we finally were seated. I get that the wait time is just and estimate, but surely they can do better than being off by 100%. Most places are really good at the wait time estimates, I don't think I've ever been somewhere where the wait was double the estimate. Unfortunately the kitchen was just as bad as the host staff. We ordered an appetizer immediately as soon as we sat down. The appetizer didn't arrive until 25 minutes after we ordered it, making the frustrating start of the evening even more frustrating. Bryan A was our waiter and he did a phenomenal job despite how understaffed the restaurant seemed to be. You could tell that he was extremely busy with many tables, but he did a great job of keeping our drinks filled. The food was good, but the fact that we spent 1:15 minutes of the 1:45 minutes we were there waiting and waiting and waiting, just completely ruined the entire experience. I would give 5 stars based for Bryan, but I'm giving 0 stars for the host staff and 0 stars for the kitchen staff. It will likely be quite a while before we give them another try based on how frustrating this experience was.

Terrible service. The food's probably good, but I wouldn't know; the order I placed ~40 minutes ago still isn't here. I would tell this to a manager, but I haven't seen one and am begining to wonder if they actually have one. Waitress keeps coming by and apologizing saying there's just a few more tickets before ours. Based on the fact that she forgot to put in our queso until 10 minutes after we ordered it and had to come back and reverify our orders twice, I have my doubts. Update: Our food came. Both orders were wrong (my mom got a chicken enchillda when she asked for cheese, and my southwest enchilldas were supposed to have a fried egg on top but didn't. The waitress put in an order for the cheese enchillada, which came 10 minutes later. Like the rest of the meal, the cheese wasn't melted. The mamager eventually came by and comped our meal, but not before giving us an entirely uncalled for amount of attitude (when I informed her that my shrimp was overcooked, she asked how I knew). All in all, horrible. Don't even bother.

Real, authentic Tex-Mex. I know ... I'm from Texas. Get the steak burrito with Hatch Green Chili Sauce. Oh, so tasty (and a bit spicy). Delicioso.

Went here on a mother/son lunch date. The food was ok and they give you lots for the money which I like. They have different flavors of salsa that you can get and let me just say that the creamy jalapeño one is soooo good. The first time I went I couldn't find the bar it's weird the way it's set up. The service was good and I have already been back for a second visit.

We wanted Mexican for lunch and while we were on this side of town chose chuy's. I wasn't familiar with the name but from the outside it looked promising. When we walked in it had a kinda of Mexican-tropical-50's diner kinda thing going on. We waited for a very long pause to be acknowledged by the hostess. She then handed us off to another hostess that was sweet but spoke to us as she was walking away and we couldn't hear her. As it turns out, you can't hear anyone in this place. SO noisy and yet they had no music playing. Weird. We sat for a bit before a server came to us and asked us for a drink order. After a few minutes someone else dropped off salsa and chips. Still no drinks... Someone else approaches the table to take our drink order again. Apparently there was a mix up as to whom would be our server. All the staff is very nice and pleasant. But we still have no drinks. The drinks arrive but the server brought my fiancé a water and diet coke because it's so loud in there that he admitted he really couldn't hear us either. Can't imagine how loud it would be if they remembered to turn on the music. The salsa is a finely chopped bowl of tomatoes and lime juice with a hint of jalepeno. Awful. And it was fermenting. Sent it back but the new one was no better. It was literally bubbling with fermentation. So gross. Chips left an oil taste in your mouth. They have a bunch of sauces that they serve / salsa like stuff. But they are served warm. Yuck. Had tacos and fiancé had taco salad- below par- not a lot of flavor. Staff was so sweet but the food isn't good. Too bad. My fiancé used the restroom and said it smelled like an old urinal or porta potty. He was grossed out.

Ok so here goes. The place is bright, bold, loud and serves mexican like any other mexican place. Nothing spectacular. Menu is limited. My loaded nachos sucked. No flavor and the chips were stale. Drinks look good. Our waitress, Monika, was great. The jalapeno sauce is pretty good, like ranch dressing. My date said the chili rellenos were ok. Nothing he would come back for. I doubt I will ever come back.

Was in Kennesaw and decided to go here. The restaurant is pretty big. They have a nice bar area in the front and even an outside patio. It seems lime they also have a room that can be reserved for private parties. For dinner I couldn't decide what I wanted so I got the appetizer sampler which was delicious. It came with a variety of different things all of which I was very happy with. The service was great. I will definitely go back when I'm in the area.

Chip, Salsa, and Tortillas housemade and delicious! Try the frozen white peach margarita!

Not impressed with the food. The atmosphere is very fun...complete with shrine to the King of Rock n' Roll. Ordered the cheese dip. It was basically Velveeta. The chips were thin and crispy but our sever was less than attentive and we barely got another bowl. My wife's flautas were actually taquitos and my fish tacos were just okay. The kids meals had a lot of food...which was nice but it did not make up for the lack of good food. Overall a very mediocre visit. Not recommended. Save your money and go to On The Border next door.

I've been here a couple times now and I have really LOVED the service. The queso isn't the traditional white queso, which I didn't think I would like....boy was I wrong! I couldn't stop eating it! The guac and salsa were great too. I had a vegetarian dish my first visit and I wasn't impressed. My second visit I ordered fish tacos...I thought, but they gave me shrimp. I wasn't upset because it turned out to be pretty good. I also had a regular margarita, which wasn't too strong, but I could still get a good taste of the tequila. Overall a good experience both times. The servers were attentive and knew the menu well.

First time ever at Chuy's. We went there for lunch on Labor Day. Big crowd, but early enough for no waiting. When we left, there had to be 50 people waiting. As for the food, I wonder if I could sit there and eat the chips and salsa for free. Plus they gave us some sort of jalapeño ranch type dressing as a dip also. I love tortilla soup. Unfortunately I don't love theirs. The chicken was too big, and the soup watered down. Very disappointing. I won't get that again. We both ordered salads. After the chips, and then the soup, the salads were huge and I couldn't finish mine. That jalapeño dressing was really good and tasty. The salad itself was fresh and clean also. Service here was really good. We told the server it was our first time here. She made sure we were well taken care of. Will we return? Yes, maybe. But if we don't, I doubt I will miss it too much.

I am usually not a fan of tex mex but this place was good. I met my biggest expectation of eating, being full at the end of the meal. The queso is amazing here, I would highly recommend it. The waitress we had was real good, knew all the food and made really good recommendations.

Chuy's, oh how I love thee!! I am the most excited person ever now that Chuy's Kennesaw has opened! It's actually dangerous to have a Chuy's this close to home. Chuy's is Tex-Mex done amazingly well. Think Rio Bravo from back in the day, except fresher flavors and more unique menu items. Their chips are thin, white corn chips. The salsa is like a tangy pico, with a hint of heat. You must also try the creamy jalapeño for chip dipping. Addictive! My favorite entrees are the Chuychanga or one of the many versions of enchiladas. If you like tomatillo sauce, try Chuy's green tomatillo sauce or the deluxe tomatillo. Both are excellent on the enchiladas. Hubs loves the "big as yo face" steak burrito. It's a bit spicy for me, but the steak inside is done perfectly. Not at all chewy or gristly. Soooo glad Chuy's is in the neighborhood!!! I'll be a regular!

Ive been here a few times since they opened not too long ago, and every time i had a fine experience. Service hasnt been bad, food has been good, and prices arent bad. Not at all impressed this time or any time I've eaten there. I've been to the one's in Texas and for some reason the food is so much better. We came in at lunch, ordered quickly, then waited 50 minutes for not so good food. If you're going to wait that long you would think the food would be good. It wasn't. The only thing that was good was the jalepeno ranch dipping sauce. I wish the food wasn't so meh! There are much better choices in Kennesaw for Mexican food.

What a disappointment. I wanted to try it out because it was new but not worth it. There are to many other Mexican restaurants that are much better. The waiter was not very informative. Not sure but I guess he could have been new. The menu selection was poor and limited. We had the margarita special and they were not that impressive. Because of the poor menu selection we just got fajitas and I could have done a better job at home. Will not be going back. The decor and tshirts are cool but that is it.

Our server took two half drank waters off an empty table on the patio, went into the kitchen and filled them, took them to our table, used straws and all. We walked out. Will never go back. Besides that disgusting act she was terribly rude right off the bat.

Everything's fresh and delicious. Above average Tex-mex here. The salsa and spicy jalapeño dip (a.k.a. "White Crack") they bring with the complementary chips are very good. They have Pacifico in bottles, so that's a plus. Or rather, not a minus - everyone should carry Pacifico, am I right? Fish tacos were very good. Looking forward to trying other things as well. The service here is top notch and attentive - no surprise since it just opened. Take advantage now!

Salsa was about a 1... Maybe. Definitely the worst salsa I've had at a mexican restaurant. I got an average amount of food for a well above average price. There are many other local mexican restaurants Id go to before this one. Will not be back. Service was good, no issues there. Just the food was not.

I have loved Chuy's for years and am excited to see them opening locations in ATL. Came tonight, with the fam, to check it out. Wish they took call ahead - put your name on the list, resos. As usual, the food was AMAZING! The fajitas, steak burrito and chicken enchiladas were sampled by the table. Their meat has ALWAYS been too notch. Love the free nacho bar, but our serving giving us grief about not wanting to stand in line for chips only, was a bit much. As with any food establishment, service is hit or miss. Ours was certainly a swing and a miss. He seemed to forget things. Order was wrong and he didn't seem to care. And I could have done without the attitude about things. I just hope that he doesn't get a first timer, because his service may deter them from returning. Overall, love the food and will be back!

I wish there was a such thing as giving no stars. Because if that was possible, that's exactly what this place would get. The happy hour nachos are maybe the highlight of this place if you like cheap ground beef and queso out of a jar. The menu is overpriced for low quality food. One Al a cart grilled chicken taco is the same price as a soft taco entree($6.00). Makes no sense. Plus it was the smallest taco I have ever eaten. My boyfriend ordered a steak burrito, they brought out a bean burrito. When he sent it back, all we got was attitude from the waitress and a plate with steak wrapped in a cold uncooked tortilla. Talk about a joke. The thing was the same size as my soft taco. They charge you for queso if you want it on top of your burrito, but serve the exact same queso at the happy hour nacho bar for free. Avoid this place and go get yourself some Taco Bell. It would be better, I guarantee.

Went there for lunch. The parking lot was full so I figured the food must be fantastic. What a disappointment. I ordered chicken soft tacos. The chicken was dry and over cooked. The food was very bland. The cheese was some kind of sharp or cheddar, not a Mexican blended cheese. I could do much better and I am not s good cook. The food was also over priced. The atmosphere was good but not the food. No where near being good. If you want truly good Mexican food, I suggest you go somewhere else.

We moved here from New Mexico and of all the Mexican places we've tried-- this one is the very best! The sauces are great, the salsa is fresh and they let the kids play with tortillas while we wait for our order. Super tasty and spicy. The green chile sauce is super delicious!! So glad we found this spot!

Great food, my wife and I loved this place the cheese dip is crazy good, we came in on a Monday and we loved it so much that two days later we were back for more...

"Meh" is right. Thoroughly mediocre in the way that makes you think "You know, if I'd gone to Costco and raided the frozen entrée section, I could open a restaurant just like this."

Worst Margarita ever! $9.25 for what was supposed to be top shelf with Gran Marnier, got a glass full of mix and ice, no orange liquor at all (it's obvious) and pretty much no tequila either! Huge ripoff!! Food was very mundane, no seasoning. Huge portions of nothing special! Save your money!!

Good food, friendly service. Never had anything from this concept I wasn't happy with. Great value for the money and a fun atmosphere.

After seeing the reviews my husband and I decided to give Chuys a try. First of all the restaurant is very small compared to what it looks like from the road. The server we had was very friendly and attentive. I saw on other reviews mentioning the terrible decor - yeah it is pretty tacky. It looks like someone went to a thrift shop from the 50's. They didn't have regular salsa or queso, so that was a bummer. Their special dip was okay. The food was just okay. It is very doubtful that we will return.

Really wanted to like this place. In a nutshell ordered chicken tortilla soup and something off of the combo menu nbr 6 for lunch my mate ordered chika boom boom or something like that. Chips salsa arrived waiters thumb entrenched in salsa..... chips funky aftertaste from the oil. Soup more like dishwater ... Mains no different from basic tex mex. Cooks having a bad day ? Poorly trained waitstaff ? Not going to return to find out. Much better places around perimeter to sample.

Love the salsa!!! Different from other Mexican restaurants. Fajita were amazing!! Nice drink selection. Very friendly staff. Decorated in 1950's diner style!! Overall fun place to eat.

Best chicken tortilla soup this side of the Mississippi! Also enjoy the fresh-made tacos and queso.

Service was good; decor was nice/interesting. The woman who makes the handmade tortilla's works her butt off and makes excellent stuff. As for the food, we had Roast Pork Enchilada's ...the Saturday special. It was lackluster and you couldn't find the pork so... don't make Roasted Pork the first ingredient... maybe make it the last one. The frijoles were unimpressive and bland. The salsa was interesting and went well with the thin tortilla chips. The jalapeno dip was very good - actually addictive and probably fattening. Everything had jalapeno's in it so we didn't find the sides complimentary to the main... just hot spiced. If this is typical I'm not sure we would go there again. Summary - not bad and not great.

Horrible service! Horrible margarita for a popular Tex-Mex restaurant. My margarita was more water and ice. No liquor. Not even mix. Can't believe I paid for that drink. Waitress was very rude and opinionated. Cheese dip tasted like something I could heat up at home from the freezer section. Chips were oily. Salsa...more like chopped tomatoes sitting in a small bowl too long. I ordered the sampler combination basically. Too much sauce. Rice was over-cooked. Cheese wasn't melted in the enchilada. My taco collapsed instantly from the extremely hard shell. My husband ordered a burrito that was entirely too big. Cold. Came with the wrong beans ordered and more over-cooked rice. No beers on tap. Not s good selection either. Would not suggest this place. Waste of money and time!!

The jalapeño cheese dip is great, ambience is cool. However, I had the fajitas and thought they lacked that kick of flavor you'd normally expect

Decided to try this out last weekend. Used the call ahead seating feature, because the two other times we tried to come here, it was a long wait. They sat us quickly and go us some chips and dips. Took 45 minutes to get our food, very disappointed. The entrees were decent, just nothing out of this world. I would not wait out the average 45 minute wait to eat here with the family on a weekend, but might be a decent spot to grab some lunch if need be.

I highly enjoyed my meal--the Chicka Chicka boom boom. The sauces made from scratch were nice. The waiter was great, and he brought out the sauces for us to try. I will go again especially in the warmer months. Nice atmosphere too.

Went there for lunch with colleagues. The bright pink interior takes some getting use to :-) I like the complimentary creamy cheese sauce - not thick like you would expect a cheese sauce would be but tasty. I ordered the steak burrito with the Hatch Green Chili sauce and chili rice. The waitress said it was the most spicy meal. The portions were huge. I would say the Hatch Green Chili sauce is spicy but not as strong as your traditional XXX wing sauces. Beware that the rice also has chili in it.

We were excited to try this new Chuy's but were disappointed with the service and the overall quality of the food. Our server kept apologizing for the late food and getting the order wrong. Maybe they need time to get the kinks out -- as of right now I would not go back.

First time here. haven't been seated yet. So all I can comment on is the atmosphere. Very crowded 45 min wait! They have a "chips & salsa" bar ( free ) but it's a pig sty. Hasn't been cleaned in who knows when. Parents letting their entitled kids stick their fingers in the chips/dips. A definite health hazard!!! Still have not been seated. From the experience so far, don't expect much !

Chuy's is awesome and they are spot on consistent with their Texas locations. They always have unique dishes, great margaritas and fresh ingredients in all that they do. Highly recommend for a casual night out.

The atmosphere is very cool, and the service was good. The food is similar to On the Border and I wasn't very impressed. I got an enchilada and the best thing I probably had were the free chips. Now, I hear there's a free nacho bar during the week. I may go back just for that.

good food but terrible service. EVERYTIME I have been there either my food or drink order has been messed up. Servers don't seem very knowledgeable of the items on the menu. Great potential and lovely outdoor area just wish service gets better!

My husband and I just got back from Chuy's Mexican restaurant. I ordered a fajita-flavored burrito. It was approx. 6" long and had only about 4 or 5 small pieces of chicken (didn't taste any flavor). Ordered "mild" salsa, got hot instead. My husband ordered the No. 2 combo (something about Elvis); said he was disappointed. They included an extremely large portion of chips (wasteful, in my opinion). I feel they must be ignorant or extremely naive to open a Mexican restaurant just down the block from On the Border (which is great). Don't feel they'll be around for long. Needless to say, we're not going back.

Best Mexican and great cocktails. Everything was fresh and delicious. Service was great. I had Chicka Chicka Boom Boom and thoroughly enjoyed it. Hubby had combination #1. I tasted the enchilada and the flautas. Both were yummy. Table Salsa was also good and fresh. Will be back.

Great food, but they have some kinks to work out since they just opened recently. The service was short of a disaster. Disappointed this location doesn't have the vibe of Chuys in Austin, TX. Without good service, it's just another mexican foos joint.

New Mexican restaurant in Kennesaw lives up to it's promise. Sat at the bar... they have a happy hour taco car, yes car that starts at 4, cups, salsa, queso, ground beef, and guacamole. Ordered the steak burrito, it's huge (that means two things). It was excellent. The bar staff was great, I believe we were served by Zack... He's a good guy. Also their salsa is excellent, I believe it is made fresh cause it tastes fresh. I highly recommend the new Chuy's as your new Mexican food hangout.

Chuys is not a 5 star Mexican restaurant. The chips are so thin they won't stand dipping in the very good salsa. The "12 burrito "is not. It's made with a 12 tortillo, maybe! But the burrito itself is barely 6" long and there is nothing on it but the meat and a little cheese and the steak?? Had a very charred flavor. 2 and a half. Not very busy but a long wait for the food.

Came in at 9:00 on Saturday night and the wait was 28 minutes. I was expecting fast food quality but was pleasantly surprised. Food was slow getting to the table but was really good. I had a# 4, which is chill relleno, and enchilada. Both were very good. The salsa is chunky, fairly mild. Service was ok. I'll come back. My only complaint is no draft beer.

They just opened on Barrett Pkwy and we went in for lunch. Like any new business the staff was going in circles and seemed kinda lost. I felt like they were new to the restaurant business. Just didn't have it together. They do not have a lunch menu so don't expect a cheap Tex Mex value here. They serve the chips and give you Pico instead of salsa, that's different... (maybe its available we didn't ask) We decided on a combo 3 $8.49 (Taco & Enchilada) and one of their "house specialties" the Steak Burrito $10.79. It wasn't served very fast like most Tex Mex places. We both said the same thing "they are dry" maybe overcooked? The sauces are more toward the spicy side. So wimps wont like the Enchilada sauce... Has a nice bar area. Overall the place is cool-trendy. The food was average at best. Maybe when they get in the groove, it will be better.

ATTENTION thin chip lovers! Awesome thin chips are here!!!! And the salsas are good. Ask for samples they have about 5 different ones. I was happy to see Chuy's come to the Atlanta area. We ate at one in Kentucky and, as a spouse of a certified Mexican foodie, visiting Mexican restaurants can be nerve racking, more so when the munchkin is with us. But we were all impressed, and I have enjoyed each and every visit to both locations. We stopped in on Elvis' birthday. Elvis showed up to say "Hi" and the kids loved it.

Went here on a Saturday night for the first time with my husband and another couple. None of us had been here before. When they first opened, we tried, but they were too busy. Well now they aren't. We sat outside on the patio. No wait at 6:00pm on a Saturday. We had the Chuy's Brew with the Coronita-- that was delicious-- as well it should be for $9.00. The chips were very light, but flavorless. The salsa was fresh, but very watery and flavorless. Had to request napkins and water and more chips. I had the Saturday special which was Pork Enchiladas-- I think it was about $10. Everyone else had a burrito of some sort. The food was just meh...my biggest gripe was that it was obvious that the plates had sat under a heat lamp way too long. All of our sauces were just a hard crust by the time they got to us. The garnish was limp due to being under the lamps as well. We ate all our food, the server came back and asked about refills-- he said something that prompted us to say we had never been there before--to which he replied-- "I wish I had known it was your first time"....well...you should have asked. Don't think we'll be back.

Short story: Only reason I am giving them two stars is because of the jalapeño ranch dip. Definitely won't be returning to this place. Their selection of food was poor for starters, they don't even have black beans. Most Mexican restaurants I have been to allow you to substitute things like nachos for a bed of rice but it seems like they were not willing to bend on any of their dishes other than the traditional option of "please hold the...". The prices to me seemed kind of high for what it was. For the quality of food we received I honestly think we would have been better off at Taco Bell. The plates were so hot when they brought them out we had to wait another 5 minutes before we could actually eat. Leading to the service: It seemed like no one even bothered to half way pretend they wanted to be there. The waiter seemed to be very impatient and only checked on us once before he brought the check. He kept my sweet tea glass full at least but it would be filled to the brim with ice so I was really only getting 1/4th - 1/3rd of the glass. He would almost run past the table to drop a new glass off without even asking if we need anything else and was gone before we could even attempt to ask. I think this is maybe the second time in years I've left less than a 20% tip. What was really disconcerting was the fact that it had been established that it was our first time there and still received such poor quality of service. And it was not busy at the time. There were no more than 3-4 tables being occupied and there was plenty of staff standing at the hostess desk chit chatting, which of course is no problem when customers are being attended to properly. I'm an easy man to please when it comes to food because of my caveman like palate, but this is the worst food experience I've had in the Kennesaw area since moving here 2 years ago.

Great services every time!!!! I wanted so bad to like this place, but I just didn't :-( . After my second visit at Chuy's I realized that it was the food I didn't like. authentic Mexican restaurants has me completely hooked. My first visit, we ordered the chicken fajitas, it was nothing to write home to my mother about and just not memorable at all. I ordered a frozen Margarita, lime & mango, it was really good. My second visit I order the taco and enchiladas combination plate. I was completely unimpressed. The beans, the sauce the enchiladas was in, and also the enchilada, were all a no go for me. The salsa was the only good thing. Hulk was our server and he completely rocked it, he got us in and out in a timely manner during the lunch rush, he was funny and very attentive, he and the welcoming staff standing at the front door is the reason for the 3 stars given. Everyone was so warming and welcoming. Now, I will not say that I won't be back because I heard about the awesome happy hour, but I will not dine here again.
