Angelo's is a cozy, bustling restaurant in downtown Griffin that seems quite popular with the locals. In town for a client meeting, I had no trouble finding a parking space on the street, just a few steps away from the entrance. The menu is an interesting mix of Greek and Italian favorites, and it was difficult to make a decision on what to order. Thankfully, our friendly and helpful server was there to answer all of our questions and provide expert recommendations. Since I have a gluten allergy, I was initially nervous about dining in such a small space where pizza is being made, but Angelo's took excellent care of me. While they do offer a gluten free pizza crust (10" only), I instead opted for the made-in-house tuna salad platter, which comes with three generous scoops of tuna salad on top of a smorgasbord of veggies - mixed lettuce, tomatoes, cucumbers, red onion, olives, banana and green peppers - all topped with shredded mozzarella cheese. Angelo's dressings are house-made as well, and when I couldn't decide between their house (Italian) and the ranch, our server brought both for me to try. I ended up using a combination of the two. It was delicious, and I had enough leftovers for my lunch the following day. [Side note - our server brought me a to-go container at the beginning of the meal, so I could put some aside without dressing, and then she gave me extra to-go dressing cups as well. Nice touch.] My colleague and client both thoroughly enjoyed the gyro platter, and the pizzas that went sailing by our table looked and smelled amazing. Next time I'm in town, I'll be checking out their GF 10" pizza.

The vegetable soup is amazing and the spaghetti is awesome togo and reheated the next day. I love eating here, but service has went downhill recently.

As always was great. Misty is the right mix of sassy, friendly and efficient- ask for one of her tables. BTW have never been disappointed in the food! When we are in Griffin to visit family this is a must.

Amazeballs. I am a sucker for great food, and Angelo's does not disappoint. It can be crowded and loud at times, but the food makes up for it.

Good little restaurant with cute downtown location. Service was good. Was not wowed by the food, but defiantly will return and try new dishes.

ok...this place rocks. I'm driving back here from Peachtree City so I can eat homemade gyros and a fresh baked canoli. Everything was made fresh...nothing prepackaged / prepared. Awesome! I had the open face gyro plate. It was delicious...huge chunks of Feta cheese, olives, fresh sliced onions and tomatoes, tzaziki (or however you spell it) sauce, and pita bread with the beef/lamb stuff.

This place is worth the trip. Their meatball sub is very yummy down to the bread. Service is always great and prices are also. We try to dine here for lunch regularly because it is always great.

The only place that has Gyros and they are delicious. The hummus tastes fresh and the atmosphere is nice, friendly, and clean. The restaurant is in a great location, but parking is a little of a hassle. If you live close by, it's a nice walk through down town Griffin.

I have been here twice, and will never give it third try. Many of my friends had recommended it to me, so I assumed it'd be decent. The food was indeed "decent", but for the lack of flavor I gave it 3 stars. The prices are too high for a plate of spaghetti that tastes like cafeteria food.

Looking for somewhere new to eat Italian, we ventured to Griffin to try this place. It was fun. The owner came out to talk to us, and our waiter, while not experienced, was really friendly. The salad and bread are nothing to write home about, but the entrees were excellent. The lasagna was hailed by our table of nine as the best restaurant lasagna ever. There were several sauces on the menu that we didn't recognize, and the chef was kind enough to send out samples. And dessert, well, we wish we had room for more. Tiramisu was great (I have it everywhere I go) and cannolis were good, too.

If you like Greek food, this is your place in Griffin. Right on the corner in downtown, this little restaurant has delicious food at fair prices. The service is polite and authentic - no overzealous fakeness here. The atmosphere is a little dated and there is a little wear and tear on the place, but still is clean and well put together. My favorite spot is the first booth on the right when you enter - there is large window, perfect for people watching. You're food choices can be a little confusing unless you are used to Greek food and their descriptions. If you're not sure what to get, always go with the gyro - a guaranteed great option for the indecisive customer. I feel like this place is overlooked, so definitely stop in during the afternoon or early evening for a relaxed meal with the whole restaurant to yourself.

Love this place. We live an hour away but come here as often as we can. The tomato bruschetta is the best i have ever eaten. They make the bread fresh and its loaded with cheese and tomatoes and their dipping sauce is pure heaven. Lots of garlic in olive oil. Very, very good!

Great new restaurant in downtown Griffin! Located on the corner of Hill and Solomon in a historic building. Nice, cozy atmosphere with red booths (I'm a big fan of nice booths). They are only open Monday through Friday, for lunch and dinner, and closed on Saturday and Sunday (for now, anyway). The menu contains some Greek dishes, for example one visit I ordered the Gyro Platter which not only had the Gyro flatbread sandwich but also had spanikopita, dolmas and feta cheese on the side. The owner is apparently Greek but there are more Italian items on the menu, such as lasagna and chicken parmesan, as well as pizza and sandwiches. Eggplant parmesan sub? Good stuff! Fried chicken strips with spaghetti? Yum! I thoroughly enjoy the large beef ravioli I've ordered several times, they are delicious. The waitresses were friendly and efficient. I look forward to eating here regularly in the future!

When my wife and I first visited Angelo's my wife was mixed with her selection since she doesnt like authentic greek very much (she ordered a Gyro platter) and didnt like the spanikopita, dolmas and feta cheese that came with it - the Gyro itself however was wonderful. I had the lasagna and it was great! So we decided to give it another try last week and ordered pizza since we wanted to compare it to our all time favorite (Slices) - located just a couple of blocks away! And I have to say the pizza was fantastic! My wife still likes Slices better but its a near tie for me. The pizza is a thick crust pizza which I prefer over a thinner one anyway. The staff was great and service was better than most in the area. We will definitely add Angelo's to our favorites list!

Very good Italian restaurant. Family managed and owned with great service. Entree prices are a great value as a generous bowl of soup, bread and the entree itself are served. A top choice for Griffin.

I happened to read Rosemary's review and decided to grab a couple of friends and head over to Angelo's to check out the Italian side of the menu. I had only tried the Greek on my first visit and if the Italian turned out to warrant it, I am happy to update my review. However, that, sadly, did not turn out to be the case. If you like warmed up tomato puree dumped on limp linguine, this is the place for you. If you believe that slicing BBQ bread in half, putting garlic salt and butter on it makes garlic bread, this place will make you comfortable. If you prefer your veal unpounded and steamed until the breading falls off into an oily, artificially lemonated sauce(so-called Marsala sauce), this can be your new home. If you like your cannoli disguised as a weapon (when you take a fork to this, shards of cannoli casing fly off dangerously), you and probably your kids or frat brothers will have a good time here. But Italian this isn't. I wouldn't even call this Italian-American. Prego or Ragu sauces are a step up from this. If you have some Italian in you and you call this good, shame on those relatives. If you like Mario Batali or Marcella Hazen as Italian chefs, do not visit this place.

I liked this cozy little restaurant. I wasn't too impressed with the tossed salad but it served it's purpose. The "crazy spaghetti" was good and I've heard that their lasagne is really good. And the meatballs were homemade as they should be at an Italian restaurant. I can see myself going back.

Greek Cuisine

Greek food is a fine melody of the finest pressed olive oil, fresh fermented bread, colorful vegetables, juicy meat, sea food all cooked in spices and fresh rosemary. The people from Greek were great scholars who aimed to excel in everything they do. The results are quite visible in their food as they are the inventors of olive oil which is beneficial to health. Greeks also made different type of wines from the best quality of grapes fermented in controlled environment.

Italian Cuisine

The immense popularity of Italian cuisine globally isn't unknown. You can find an Italian Pizzeria around every corner of almost every city in the United States. Not to forget that in every house, people enjoy mac and cheese as comfort food. But it would be wrong to believe that Italian food starts with pizza and ends with good pasta as this Mediterranean country has much more to offer other than these two dishes. In Italian Cuisine, there is a high use of fresh tomatoes, all kinds of herbs, great quality of cheese, all types of meat, seafood and fresh handmade pasta. Many find it hard to believe that Italians have been making noodles long back.

Italian and Greek cuisines are always mistaken to be same, but they are poles apart. The primary difference between the two cuisines is the use of cheese in most of the Italian dishes. Italians love to cultivate their own cheese and process them as per their food requirement. It is believed that some cheese is so expensive that cheese producers secure them in lockers.

If you are bored eating the same old pasta or pizza, you can try some of the authentic Italian dishes like Risotto, Polenta, Ribollita, Lasagna, Fiorentina Steak, Bottarga, Ossobuco, Carbonara, Focaccia, Arancini and Supplì. Another item which Italians love to relish every morning is a good cup of Italian Coffee. Once you taste a freshly brewed cup of Italian Coffee, you might not visit Starbucks ever again. Authentic Italian food is made with heart and soul, so go find a restaurant where you can relish Italian cuisine in your city.
