this place is a hidden treasure.....from the outside you would never expect what is behind the beautifully decorated door.....my sister and i were impressed from the moment we walked in....the decor was very elegant and tasteful... none of that *fast food* feel that it seems most chinese restaurants have adopted....i was especially taken with the absence of a buffet line.... hmmmm, let's check out the menu....everything looked good.... i chose the scallops w/shrimp & chicken, sis picked broccoli beef (i'm more adventurous!!).... the food was AMAZING....each bite was better than the last....everything was sooooooo fresh....the egg rolls and spring rolls were hot out of the fryer, but not greasy....without the *sitting on the steam table* rubberiness....the scallops were cooked perfectly, the shrimp & chicken flavorful, the beef melted in your mouth like butter, the vegetables so fresh and crisp, as if they had gone out back and picked them!!! the service was excellent, the staff attentive without *hovering*....and the prices couldn't be beat.... we were there during the lunch hour....11am-3pm....i think nothing on the menu was over $7.00...and even though we came in at 2:40, the food was as fresh & hot as if it was the first service of the day.... hands down, this has to be the best chinese i've had in a long time....and i've been around....used to be a longhaul trucker, and i've eaten chinese from florida to new jersey to wyoming to utah....you get the idea.....this was top notch....lunch, drinks and a five dollar tip....under $21 YUM!!!!

I've never been here before today. They've been open 6 years according to the gentleman who seated my family. Oriental Garden is located in a strip center in the Marshals, Publix, Old Navy store area in Gainesville sort of near the Hollywood Theaters. The first thing I noticed was the warm and friendly service. The menu was typical. I did notice that almost every table was taken for a Sunday lunch. My wife had the Wanton Soup as a lunch. Packed with chicken and dumplings. Very good and home made as a learned when checking out. I had the chicken lo-main (spelling?) Very good. We all enjoyed our meals, friendly and good service. Our lunch bill was $19 for 3 folks. I'm giving it 4 stars based on service and taste and value. We will be back.

Our second time to this restaurant and we were not disappointed. Having left one restaurant without even being spoken to, we decided to fall back on Oriental Garden. The food here is excellent but what was more important was the attentive waitress. She was very helpful and even offered to modify a menu item just for our liking. Have left both times with food to take home, which is always a plus. We will absolutely be going back for more.

I went to this place because the reviews were decent, I was out of town, and I was really hankering for some good chinese food. My fiancé and I got here at 6 PM on a Saturday and there was nobody here. Probably should have taken that as a sign to turn around and leave but we pressed onwards. First we ordered some crab Rangoon. The crab and cream cheese was really runny and tasted kind of off. We didn't even finish it. I ordered sesame chicken and my fiancé ordered chicken fried rice. My fiancé had no complaints but my chicken tasted a bit funny. I didn't eat much of it, packed it in a to go box and left. By the time I got home I was busting down the bathroom door. I was up all night puking my freaking guts out. Those five pieces of chicken I ate destroyed my stomach. The next morning I threw my to go boxes away and spent all day in my bed of pain. Perhaps this is an isolated incident but if you don't have three days to set aside to get food poisoning, avoid avoid avoid. I would also like to add that the lady who served us was the sweetest lady in the world. So the service was fine, the food poisoning, not so great.

When it comes to Chinese food, it is typically a hit or miss for me. Either the food is good or the food is not so great. This evening we found a great Chinese restaurant. The service was great and the food certainly could not be beat. The portions were large, so much that we had to ask for a to go box. Two meals, two drinks and a shared appetizer, we paid less then $30.00, before tip. Everyone has their own opinion when it comes to Chinese food, or any other kind of food and their favorite restaurant. For us, Oriental Garden 2 is now added to our favorite restaurants to dine. If you are looking for good Chinese food and good service, you must give this restaurant a try.

Chinese Cuisine

The popularity of Chinese food in America can be adjudicated by the appearance of China Town in many major cities in the United State of America. The popular trend of ordering or opting for Chinese take away food isn't unknown in America. Chinese take away food comes to rescue when you're too tired from work or too exhausted to cook. No one can resist the temptation of eating spicy noodles, shrimp, chicken, beef or pork cooked in the sweet and spicy sauce. The cooking method of authentic Chinese food is a lot different compared to what is served in America.

Generally, Chinese use dark meat small bones and organs to cook dishes but this changes when you are eating American-Chinese fusion food prepared using white boneless meat cooked with broccoli, carrots and onions. Back in China, the food is less spicy and oily as they favor steaming and braising method for cooking the most popular dishes. So, if you have a taste for authentic Chinese food, then try finding a real Chinese restaurant in the city. You can also try the most popular fusion Chinese food like Pecking Duck, Chicken Feet, Hot Pot, Shrimp Dumpling Soup, Mapo Tofu, Wontons, Chop Suey, Egg Rolls and not to forget Fortune Cookies.

There are not many restaurants in America serving authentic Chinese food. A little research on Restaurant Listings directory can help you locate the best Chinese restaurants in the city. Chinese cuisine is continuously evolving, and you can find a variety of dishes categorized as the food for lactose intolerant, gluten intolerant, vegan, vegetarian, and diabetic friendly. So, if you have a group of friends with different taste patterns, save the hassle and visit the nearest Chinese restaurant in your city.
