Typical mexican fare, but always comes out right. I've been eating here for almost 8 years. It's the best place to eat on Fairburn Rd and fair with the price. I prefer La Parrilla, but you can't eat there at these prices. Service is always good, and you can get take out quick. I eat there for lunch at work, so I can not speak of the bar.

It was the typical American "Mexican" restaurant. It was ok. Salsa is good. The mushroom quesadilla was ok.

Typical Mexican American food, our server was inattentive and the sink in the bathroom was clogged and full of water. Servings were plenty big and tastes ok.

The food was good and the margaritas were really good. Next time we are in town I will stop here again.

New to the area and was looking for a good Mexican restaurant... We tried Monterey and were very surprised! Decent prices and large servings. The salsa and chips were great! Food was tasty and prepared well. Will return!

I'll first say this review is based on service alone, and has nothing to do with the food. The food is probably, as other reviewers suggest, decent Mexican fare at a reasonable price. However, I didn't get that far with my experience. We parked, and in spite of no indication about how parking traffic should proceed, we quickly figured out you're supposed to drive down the right side, not the left -- because it's one way and loops around in a circle (we figured this out as we almost hit someone who was leaving...a sign pointing which way to park might be helpful as construction continues? Just a suggestion.). We walked inside and the host (who was maybe 16) grabbed us some menus. I asked if we could sit outside, he nodded and brought us out. He asked us to pick a table, indicating anywhere was fine. There was one other table seated outside, so we sat a couple tables away from them. A server was with them when we walked out. A bus boy (I assume) was clearing off another table (which he never finished) as we sat down. So that's three staffers who know we're on the patio, right? The host brought us chips and salsa right away. We read the menu, ate some chips, chatted, figured out what we wanted to eat...and then waited. And waited. And waited. No one came out to the patio. We were there for a good 15 minutes and not one person offered to bring us waters, take a drink order, or even just give us a wave and say they'd be with us soon. Not a soul came by. As the ridiculousness of the situation began to become more and more apparent, we decided that, if this was setting the tone for the rest of the meal, we were over it. We got up and walked out. Coming back through the dining room (which was busy but not packed), not one person said anything to us. In fact, the server who was taking care of the other patio table was inside talking to another staffer, not doing anything. If anyone had asked, I would gladly have announced why we were leaving, but it kinda seemed like no one cared. Mmm...sorry Monterrey, maybe there was a little miscommunication going on inside, but no matter what the reason, that kind of service is a no-go in my book.

This place blew me away! I'm born and raised in Southern California, so I know Mexican food pretty well. I knew what I wanted when I walked in and my server made all of my foodie dreams come true. The "queso poblanos "are amazingly wonderful. I have been in search of a real chile rellano (aka queso poblanos) since I moved here and this place makes a real one, you just have to find it! So happy that I found what I wanted here in crappy ass Douglasville!

I will never go back to this place! Not once, but twice the waiter was rude. I asked about the pricing on a Margarita and was told to look at the menu. I asked about a specific size and was told "I told you to look at the menu". After looking over the menu, I requested that Margarita and was then told they don't have that size. Needless to say I walked out and will never return. The first experience was just ok, but pricey compared to other Mexican restaurants in the area. My advice is to lower the price and up the service.

This place is always packed in the evenings, but we were there for lunch on Saturday. I had chile relleno; which is sort of my go-to meal at Mexican restaurants; and a chicken fajita. The chile is supposed to be a tender chile, but I was served tough bell pepper instead. The pepper was inedible, I couldn't even cut it with a knife. The fajita was edible, but the chicken was very bland. All the rest of the ingredients on the plate were good, but nothing special. The chips, salsa, and cheese sauce we had before the meal was actually the best part of the meal. I've always gotten good service at this restaurant, and this visit was no exception, but I was disappointed with the food.

The is a very typical "Mexican" restaurant, complete with all of the "authentic Mexican food" you would care to eat. Right. But, it is definitely very good for what it is. I have certainly eaten at worse Mexican restaurants and if I am in the area, I won't hesitate to stop here if I am really craving a cheese laden plateful of food :-) The service is good, and if you can get into the parking lot without crashing, you will leave satisfied.

The food is standard Mexican fare. The service is great. The servers are friendly and there's mariachi every Thursday. Very affordable. And great fajitas!

Okay so i've been to this establishment twice and needless to say that I will go back. Despite the horrible parking situation due to construction the restaurant is a typical Mexican Joint. The first time I visited I ordered a combo with chicken taco, enchilada and burrito.. Enchilada was good, Taco was AWESOME and the burrito I could have done without. The chips and salsa were okay I asked the waiter if he could make the salsa spicier and he did just that yummo (except my tongue was on fire for quite a while) I ordered a 27oz Margarita on the rocks and it just wasn't strong enough for me!!! Ahh well my husband had the same thing as me except with beans and he found it okay. I think he enjoys the fact that there are tv's all around the joint so he can watch his football games *sigh*.. The second time around I had basically something similar to the first time except with beef and it was good but I rather stick to chicken the next time around. I do have to say that the wait staff was extremely courteous and a pleasure to be around. I will be back!!!

Mexican Cuisine

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.
