High Cholesterol at Whataburger

Calorie intake is the main concern for people with high cholesterol while dining at a fast-food restaurant like Whataburger. Well, you can always try the Lighter & Smaller options from the menu to cut down your fat intake. Opting for grilled sandwich or burgers are preferred compared to double meat or triple meat cheesy burgers which contain high cholesterol.

Foods to Avoid at Whataburger for High Cholesterol

Cut down on your meat intake to control your high cholesterol. You must skip Double Meat Whataburger and Triple Meat Whataburger at all costs. Whatacatch Dinner may sound tempting but the famous fish sandwich is also full of calories and unhealthy fat. Small atmosphere with not much distinction, but the food was great! No waiting, speedy service. Family of four ate for $40 including beer: d'villy philly was big and tasty, open face roast beef with mashed potatoes very filling the peppery gravy; kids meals are $5.99 (a little pricey for me usually) but the mac and cheese is worth every penny. Offer local beers for $4!

Friendly clean atmosphere! Great people who own it. Worth drive off the interstate!

Burkes Grill makes absolutely the best mac & cheese I've EVER tasted - as a southern girl, that's saying something!! Other excellent menu items we had were the fried chicken, tilapia and chicken fried steak...and you've got to try the cream puffs! Excellent food, wonderful ambiance and great prices!

Their goal is to be your local Cheers. 3 years in and I think they are succeeding. I cannot say enough nice things about this place. Off the beaten plan and small hole in the wall, well worth your drive. Meat and 2 specials M-F. All homemade I think. I had 3 items that are not my fav but were delicious here. Fried catfish. Mac and cheese and turnip greens. All good. Peggy and Dwight both visited my table and welcomed me with open arms. Peggy even shared some black eyed peas with me. Again another not my fav item but good. They do brunch. Have beer. And they honor our service men and women 1 day a week through a Captain Herb fund set up in his honor. Sounds like he was a remarkable man. So good to people may he RIP. Cannot wait to come back.

Six stars! Locally owned and ran. Dwight and peggy are personable and take notice of everyone who comes there to eat. If it's a Monday the red beans and rice is a must have!

I am always looking for places on the roads that I frequently travel. On a recent trip to Atlanta from Birmingham we got hungry just before getting in the city. And with the threat of traffic always on high alert, we wanted to stop in Douglasville. Luckily Yelp has this handy-dandy app to look for such places. We stumbled upon Burkes, and so glad we did. It is not RIGHT off the interstate. But it is still pretty close. It is a casual place. Which was fortunate for us on a Friday night in comfortable travel attire. They have a lot of delicious looking choices. I settled on the Chicken Fried Steak with white gravy, and it was SOO good. I also got the mac and cheese by previous recommendations and I will pass that recommendation along too; along with the black eyed peas. But I am a sucker for BEPs. The portions aren't huge, but are still filling. Great for finishing that last 30 minutes to our destination. I saw some burgers coming out when we were leaving. And I will definitely be trying that next time. Good stop on the way to ATL.

When looking for an alternative to the chain restaurants in Douglasville, Burke's provides as close to a home cooked meal as you can get. Burke's isn't a chain and delivers quality and flavorful food at an affordable price and with fair portions. Here's a list of the highlights: Mac N Cheese: Hands down, the best thing on the menu. Made from scratch this isn't your typical Kraft recipe. We don't even know exactly what's it in, but there's two different kinds of cheese and we think they crumble up Ritz crackers and sprinkle them in. Try this as a side (or the lima beans). D-Villy Philly: A huge Philly that's not greasy and just the right amount of onions, mushrooms and peppers. Double Cheeseburger with bacon: Hand made patties on a toasted bun. Blows away the other burgers in town. Shrimp & Grits: One of the better meals available. Shrimp Creole: If you've been to Gumbos, don't get this. It doesn't compare. The shrimp don't taste fresh and the creole tastes like Zataran's, but it's still better than what you'd get at a chain, by a lot.

I hate 5 star reviews in fact I generally ignore them, but I couldn't find anything other than great food, great service, and a great atmosphere here. I don't know much about comfort food, but I sure feel good after eating here. I almost feel like I stole the food after getting my bill of $7.50.

The food was good. The people were friendly. We went once and have never gone back. Why? Well I'm not a fan of plates that aren't round. In my day plates were round. And I'm only 34! It seems like each time I go to a restaurant and the plates aren't round two things are going to be true: 1) The portions will be small 2) The food will be overpriced. I think these two things were both probably true. My friend thought the place was overpriced. I would have disagreed more strongly had the portions not have been small. Still, it is a good restaurant. It's just not worth us driving there when there are plenty of good round-plate restaurants between my house and Burke's.

Don't let this little "hole in the wall" fool you! This place has great food! Home cooking at its finest! The meat is well seasoned and the veggies are so flavorful! We'll be coming back again soon.

Burke's is a great eatery that I highly recommend. Great home-cooking and a great staff that takes good care of you. You owe it to yourself to give them a try. Best food around.

This is the perfect place to go after a hard day in casual clothes. Singles feel very comfortable here. Vegetables galore, meat, soups, seafood, dessert and sandwiches to try. Personally, I'm eating my way through the menu. The food reminds me of my grandmas cooking. This is a place that you will want to frequent.

Slightly off the beaten path, but well worth it! Skip the chain restaurants & try real food with great service. Owners & staff are very personable. Food is delicious. Desserts are homemade!

Our group of seven were unanimous in enjoying not only the meal but the whole experience. The Burke family served up delicious food - everyone loved the salmon, fried chicken, Shrimp and grits and fried okra. The Mac and cheese wasn't to my liking although they said it is their most popular dish. I'm a northerner so I probably have a different taste. They had an impressive assortment of craft beers and a nice assortment of wines. The peach cobbler and ice cream dessert was amazing. Our waitress was one of the daughters and was very nice. The service was down home friendly and I got a big hug from mamma Burke as we were leaving. Our group of seven left absolutely stuffed and the bill came to only $140 before tip! That included drinks for everyone. Don't pass this one by. Much better than a chain restaurant any day.

If you are anywhere in the area, you must stop in to see Peggy. Went there while I was visiting from Houston. Not only is there a huge hug waiting for you, but the corn bread, fried chicken, red beans and rice, chicken fried steak, cabbage, green beans, Mac and cheese are all scrumptious! Don't forget your sweet tea to go. I WILL BE BACK!

We met some family at the restaurant and had s great time. Everyone was very welcoming and made us feel like a part of the family. The food was fantastic and prepared by an amazing chef with years of experience and a culinary degree. I highly recommend going, enjoy!

I have eaten here numerous times and have consistently received awesome service and very delicious food at a great price. I highly recommend the red beans & rice, the chicken & dumplings, the meatloaf, the mac & cheese, the mashed potatoes, the cream puffs -- okay, everything.

Just stopped in and had a great southern lunch! Friendly place, nice atmosphere. Great chicken fried steak and catfish. We tasted greens, green beans, mac and cheese and cabbage. All well seasoned and tasty. Good grub says this Chef!

I gave burkes another try. This time I went with the fried chicken, greens, and mac and cheese. The m&c is awesome and the chicken was really good. Ask for the local habanero hot sauce! I will be back for sure.

This place was so great! The first thing I noticed was how clean it was and that you can see into the kitchen. We had the shrimp bruschetta and it was so delicious! The sweet tea was so great as well. The Mac and cheese might have been my favorite. Everything we got was piping hot which I love! There aren't many places you go that serves you hot food. Usually it's mediocre. The service was amazing! The owner hugged us when we left.

I can't say enough great things about this place. I had a craving for meatloaf and seeing that they had a lunch special on Wednesday for meatloaf. I took a 40 minute drive to try it. The owners were so nice. The food was outstanding, the meatloaf was delicious and I also had several sides including mac&cheese, collard greens, fresh vegetable of the day (zucchini and onions), and mashed potatoes. They were fabulous. They informed me that they go to the local farmer's market twice a week to ensure the freshness of their food. I'll be heading back to try their red beans and rice and everything else on their menu. Lastly, I know that food always taste better with a generous helping of smiles and superb customer service, which they have plenty of. A now loyal customer.

I needed my fix of southern food before flying back to LA, so I yelped this place. I am very happy I did. Everything I got was yummy. I got the vegetable plate with mac and cheese, black eyed peas, lima beans, and fried okra. The seasoning is more Louisiana than Georgia, but still hits the spot. I got peach cobbler with ice cream for dessert, and man oh man was that good! My mom and nana fought over the last bites! I'll be back again at Christmas time!

Burke's has been a favorite since it opened on our neighborhood. Always a friendly atmosphere and good food. Dwight and Peggy will take good care of you. Chicken and dumplings are great and so is the meatloaf.

  • Sherri L.

Love the food here. We only did take-out so I can't commit on anything else. But this is great southern comfort food. I had the vegetable plate with corn, green beans and mac and cheese and my husband had the chicken fried steak. I only wish the portion sizes had been a little bigger. I can't wait to check out this restaurant in person.

Thank you for your note. Having been in the business I know it is never the same when you are not there to run things and keep an eye out. I am sorry for your misfortune. Your note shows me that you care about the business. Maybe we will give it 1 more try. We were just disappointed after hearing how good the food was from our church friends who visited your restaurant. Best of luck. This is a very hard business.

  • Dyan R.

Had an open faced roast beef sandwich which was wonderful. Everything was homemade. Husband loved his fried chicken. Everyone seemed to love their food. The only change I would have made was, I would have had a spring mix for the salad instead of the lettuce they had. Loved the peach cobbler.

  • T J.

I have eaten here 5 times in the past month or so. Burke's menu seems a little strange to me, but it works very well, the food is always warm, tasty, and of generous portions. The Sweet Tea is great too. For the price and "can't beat it" choice.
