Great selection of items on menu. Staff is friendly and helpful. My favorite roll is the yami maki. Atmosphere is calm and nice. Price is reasonable for quantity and quality. Delivery can be a wait sometimes. Dine in service is usually fast. Carry has always been ready on time and accurate.

Yami Sushi is better known for its non-sushi items, than sushi. (The prior Yelp reviews will confirm that.) The location, which really is there to do take out and delivery to local Emory kids and folks in the area, is a little more black lacquer than you'd expect in a modern sushi restaurant. It shares a fairly non-descript Kaplan anchored shopping center. Today, I had chicken teriyaki and rice along with some vegetables -- zucchini -- on the side. Not bad. Not great. Decent for takeout, should that what you'd be in the mood for and don't feel like going in.

This is my first one star rating on Yelp. I ordered the Teriyaki chicken and shrimp, and the chicken was way overcooked.

Sushi is okay, the fried tofu was nasty. Not worth a second try.

Edit: Just recently ordered from here and was not disappointed at all. Their tempura and sushi rolls were on point. I was able to order 2 rolls, chicken tempura, and egg rolls - all for 20 bucks! Changing my ratings from 2 star to 3 star. Yuck. Very very very very less than mediocre food + horrible service. My friend had the udon noodle soup and I had the chicken katsu and both were highly disappointing. Plus there was only one server for the entire restaurant so needless to say, she took forever to come to take our orders and basically never came back after that until it was time to hand in the check. I am giving them 2 stars because they deliver and their sushi is not thaaat bad, meaning its tolerable!

Sushi is OK at best. Hibachi is so-so. My expectations are reasonable...considering the caliber of restaurant. It will do in a pinch. What I find completely inexcusable is that they have given me spaghetti noodles instead of ramen on two occasions. The two are NOT interchangeable. This is simply not acceptable.

The staff are great, they remember returning customers. I've been coming here a long time now. They make spicy tuna rolls the right way-with fantastic spicy mayo, and not hiding the tuna with extra crap so you can't tell if it's any good, like most places in ATL. It's subdued for date night, out of the way, and a great way to surprise someone with your regional savvy.

Ordered from GrubHub last night. We ordered sushi, ramen with pork, and a hibachi chicken entree with fried rice. The sushi was fine. The ramen was NOT traditional ramen, it was more like a chicken noodle soup. Instead of ramen noodles the restaurant used lo mein noodles. The broth was just a plain chicken broth, and the only "toppings" were 3 thin slices of carrot, a slice of bok choy, and a brown egg. The meat was tonkatsu style, battered deep fried pork. Not great. The hibachi wasn't good either. They left out the fried rice (which everyone knows is the best part), and when we called to complain they said it wasn't worth their time to bring it back, and they'd refund $1.50 of our price instead. We demanded a full refund and they reluctantly brought another order of rice about 40 minutes later. Should have just taken the $1.50, the food was terrible. I'll never go back here, plenty of options in ATL for Japanese food, this has to be one of the worst.

The staff is very friendly, and the food is amazing! The vegetable fried rice, udon noodles, teriyaki noodles, and tempura are great.

HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE! I will never order from these scam artist again! I order delivery at 8:05. At 9:15 I call to check status. The lady says that it should be there very soon. At 9:45 I call to cancel, the lady says she can't and that my order will be right there. At 10:00 my food finally arrives...COLD. I call back and she tells me to put it in the microwave?!? Are you kidding?? She then tells me if I want my refund that I need to bring the food to them.

DO NOT DO DELIVERY. I can't say much about what the food is like because I never got to eat it. My first time ordering, I ordered delivery to my university. The 40 minutes wait was a bit long but I am pretty lenient when it comes to wait time because they might be busy, etc. However, when the driver called and said he was at the address I gave him I didn't see him. I talked on the phone with someone other than the driver for over 20 minutes to figure out how the driver could get to where my dorm is located. I admit that I may have given a slightly wrong address when I ordered my food so that the driver was at the wrong place on campus but I continued to give directions on how the driver could get to my dorm. After 30 minutes the person I was on the phone with suddenly hung up and my driver called me. I told the driver how to get to my dorm but he hung up on me as well and then I called him back and could not reach him. I called Yami Sushi again to ask to speak to the manager and was put on the phone with the same person I had been talking to for 30 minutes. He started yelling at me for giving him the wrong address and placing the blame all on me but I do not understand this because even if I gave him the wrong address for my dorm, the place is still on campus and I made an effort to tell him how to get to my dorm. I find it ridiculous and absolutely unacceptable that the manager would go so far as to yell at me and blame me for incompetent delivery service and drivers who aren't "familiar with the area." I am never ordering anything from this place and I will never set foot in this restaurant. Terrible customer service and terrible people working there.

A terrible experience all around. I ordered through grub hub and received almost immediate confirmation. Nothing happened quickly after that. I was told my order would take 65 minutes. Which is long but not unreasonable on a friday night. two hours later, I received my food. I ordered wonton soup - which was just chicken broth with nothing in it but one slice of green onion. Very disappointing. The spring rolls were soggy and cold (not surprising since it took two hours to deliver it the 2 miles to my house. The hibachi chicken was ice cold - not sure it was ever cooked. I threw it away after one disgusting bite. I would highly recommend going anywhere else. This place should be embarrassed by their lateness and the poor quality of every item they delivered.

Oh man. I wanted to like this place bc I love Japanese food (miss it so much since I moved from NY) And it's one one of a few places that delivers to my building. I ordered hibachi steak and salmon with mixed grilled veggies. I received some overcooked, super greasy little beef cubes and a small piece of fish that had little fibers (that looked like hair) stuck to it...like it got dropped. The veggies were also way overlooked, limp, and super oily. Everything was cold. delivery took about an hour...Bummer. I'll read more reviews and see if their sushi is any better.

  • Andrea S.

Food is decent, all hot orders are cold. They don't care if they're 30+ minutes late and will yell at you if you don't give a tip, even though you show them how they're 45 minutes late. If you call, they do nothing about cold food, incorrect orders and nothing about delivering late. They obviously don't care about service at all.

I ordered a number of items from this place using GrubHub app on my phone. Not only did the order not arrive for over 2 hours, but let me list the problems: The order contained food i did not order The food was cold All the food was over cooked I made several trips to the bathroom that night because of being terribly sick They wanted to give us more food to make up for their crapness but to be honest why would i touch their food again. They wanted to give us a refund because they took over two hours to deliver food - i dont care about the money i just dont want anyone to fall for their food and end up as ill as i was. I urge people never to use this place or use grubhub to order food - i might just be the death of you

I would periodically order take out sushi based on a convenient location and a great lunch special (2 rolls for under $10). Unfortunately, I got food poisoning the last time around. I like to give smaller establishments a chance, but the risk is high when you are eating sushi at a place that doesn't seem to get a lot of traffic (during the day anyway). The sushi is not fresh. Be careful!

  • Nicholas R.

The teriyaki was pretty good, nothing outstanding but nothing terrible. I had steak and shrimp on fried rice and my wife had steak and chicken on steamed. I felt like the zucchini and fried rice were the best part. The gyoza tasted...dry. Not the worst I'd ever had, but pretty unfortunate. The tempura asparagus was pretty good. But the sushi. Oh...oh the "sushi" was awful. Just utterly and completely awful. If you want teriyaki, this place isn't bad...if you want sushi then run away. Run far FAR away.

I love this restaurant. The food is always fresh, generous portions and care is taken with the display. Delivery is fast and if you eat in the restaurant the service is good. My favorite is the hibachi shrimp, the steamed dumplings and edamame. Best ginger salad dressing in Atlanta. Tempura is very good also.

pleasantly surprised by this joint. don't be discouraged by the nappy, half-vacant shopping center. if you're in the area go for lunch and get the shrimp tempura - it's actually quite good. I'm going to try the teriyaki next time.

When I lived in the area five years ago, I ordered from Yami nonstop. Maybe the sushi wasn't the freshest or the best, but they fulfilled every late-night craving with their lightning-fast delivery and that three-rolls-for-cheap deal. Plus, I was somewhat addicted to their shrimp tempura. (It's oddly long and you'd be hard-pressed to find shrimp in all of that coating but with the dipping sauce is tastes sooooo good). I don't even like it but I'm addicted. It's the weirdest thing. Anyway, yesterday, I had the idea to order delivery from them again for the first time in four years (I work nearby). it was not a good move. The Dynamite roll was 90% rice. They threw in a bunch of scallion that made the roll taste bitter. The gyoza were fine (with a weirdly super-spicy sauce) and the shrimp tempura were just what I remember... not tasty at all but I love eating them. It's the weirdest thing. But would I repeat this order? Probably not. Yami lives on in my memory. Unless it's after midnight and you're not quite sober, you'd be better off getting your Japanese food fix from almost anywhere else.

Ordered through Grubhub. Delivery on a cold night. Arrived quickly and soup was still piping hot! Vegetables properly cooked and plenty of sauce with the meal. I have not had their sushi before but I was pleased with their delivered hibachi.

Yami Sushi is great with sushi, but NOT with ramen. If you are thinking of trying ramen for the first time, DO NOT ORDER RAMEN FROM HERE. Save yourself the money. My boyfriend has never had Japanese ramen before, so we went here for our 3-yr anniversary for him to try it. He ordered the seafood ramen, which only made his stomach queasy because it had bad oysters and other poorly-cooked seafood items. I, myself, ordered the chicken ramen. Both his and my ramen were completely bland. I have had ramen from other restaurants, and they were far more superior compared to what we had today. The ramen soup was so bland. Absolutely no taste at all. The broth wasn't even the least bit flavorful. It tasted like boiled water. When I complained about the taste to the waitress, she did not understand my disappointment either. She did nothing to address my concerns. Talk about terrible customer service. So, save yourself the time and money. If you are looking to try Japanese ramen, do not go here. This place tarnishes the image of this wonderful Japanese noodle dish.

We just moved to the area, and my kids love sushi, so we thought that we would give this place a try. It was not great and all the ingredients seems to be at slightly off temperatures. I make a lot of sushi at home, so I know how it should be eaten, and these were not right. It seems like they do a lot of business delivering to Emory students, but we will not be back.

The sushi is bland and simply not that great. The food does not seem fresh. Once I got a yellowtail and cucumber roll that was almost all cucumber. Delivery is always later than the estimate they give (it often takes 1.5 hours even though I live very close). I keep ordering from here because they deliver and prices are low and it's never made me sick, which is more than I can say for some other sushi places...I wish there were better options.

  • Kerry M.

Sushi was edible but the fish didn't really have any taste... the 7.95 for two rolls deal is great in that I have lunch for tomorrow, but I probably won't get sushi from here again... on the other hand, the tempura is tasty! If I ever crave vegetable tempura I will probably just order that for pickup, instead of making the effort to find some use for $10 worth of food.

I wouldn't even give this place 1 star if I could. Here's the rundown: 1) DISHONEST MANAGEMENT: This is the biggie. First, I bought a $6 "gift card" for Yami Sushi at bigtip.com . I paid $3 for this and Yami Sushi refused to honor it! They said that they changed management last week (wtf?) yet this deal is STILL on bigtip.com (wtf??). Secondly, the menu clearly states that for orders over $30, customers are awarded a free California roll and something else I forgot. My party's order was over $40 but they refused to honor the offer on their menu because the restaurant was about to close. 2) YOU CALL THIS FOOD?: I ordered a Spider Roll and some ramen with fried chicken because that seemed interesting. I paid $9 for the Spider Roll and got five pieces of decent rice. The pieces of tempura that you usually find on a Spider Roll were small and flavorless. The sauce on my roll was also very syrupy and artificial. The ramen that I paid $8 for consisted of a boiled egg, cheap noodles I can buy for $1 at H-Mart, and MSG loaded soup. The fried chicken that came with it was very bad. The meat was oily and flavorless. I could get better fried chicken at any KFC or Chinese takeout place. Needless to say, I will not be coming back here. My hope is Yami Sushi either introduces some integrity to their staff and learns how to make food. If I want food in that vicinity, I will settle for the adjacent McDonalds which I am sure will not only provide me more edible food but would also honor my gift cards that I used my own money to pay for.

To be honest the Sushi isn't good. It's not that fresh and the chef is not particularly skilled. This is one of those restaurants where the owners likely went to a popular sushi bar, saw that it was doing well and thought..."This looks easy, it's just sliced raw fish on rice." If you are looking for quality, don't eat here. If you are an Emory student up late in the library craving sushi because its after midnight and you have a final tomorrow, this is pretty much the best choice you have off of campufood (grubhub now i guess). Great deals on grubhub

As someone who orders from here frequently, I only have good things to say about this place. This is my usual go to place for delivery and here are the reasons Food - Unlike most asian restaurants that deliver, this place does not taste like mouthfuls of MSG. I have had most of the hibachi items, noodles, and appetizers and they are definitely amongst the best delivery you can get in the Emory area. The only qualm I have with them is their sushi, which is quite bland in general although my friend likes their happy family roll. Service - Always quick, always reliable. Record time for delivery was 25 minutes. Typically get my food in 40-45 minutes so no complaints there. Although recently, they got a new driver who has a tendency to call me 10 minutes before he gets there, which is starting to get on my nerves. Price - Their price is slightly higher than your typical restaurant, but that's because they use real ingredients that are not stuffed with MSG. Overall - I would recommend this place because the food and service are worth the price. The only reason I did not give them 5 stars is because their sushi doesn't live up to the rest of the menu.

I don't know where to start dogging on this place. Did I enjoy the flat TV blasting some nonsensical 24/7 news channel? No! Did I enjoy the atmosphere? No. Did we get three rolls for $10 bucks like promised on the phone? Nope. Then what the frack was to like? The mother trucking sushi! Ok, this little place has nothing to charm you as both its location and interior are not up to par to the sushi houses in the area. However, the staff is nice, fast, and friendly. The food is really good and inexpensive. I strongly suggest going here for lunch as the specials are great. There is a wide selection of veggie friendly sushi and other dishes. They also have various types of sake. All in all an A-OK experience.

I've had the food here twice: once this past October, once back in 2009. Both times, I was feeling a bit under the weather and had the food delivered. You'd think I'd have learned my lesson more quickly. The first time around, I went with three sushi rolls. I actually ordered through Campusfood.com , which offered any two rolls for $7.95 and any three rolls for $10.95 (now that I think about it, I probably could've just called Yami directly and not paid the Campusfood.com convenience fee). They were edible, I suppose, but I distinctly remember regretting having not just gone down the street for a taste of Kroger's take on sushi. The second time, I went with a bowl of pork ramen ($9.95) and a shumai appetizer ($4.50) (it's OK, you can judge me ...). The tiny serving of shumai was horribly soggy and a little bland. The ramen was watered down, with maybe a small handful of overcooked noodles and an egg at the bottom. The pork katsu, served in a small container on the side, was inedibly dry. The dipping sauce didn't help. If the convenience of delivery somehow convinces me I should give this place a third try, I think I'll probably lose all respect for myself.

Yami really does not have great, or even good sushi. Why do people order?-- it delivers to Emory University. The sushi has too much rice, the fish is not usually the most fresh, and they often forget things during delivery (which takes twice as long as they say it will). If I must eat sushi and nothing else is open, Yami is the way to go, however not my go-to.

This is my go-to for delivery when I'm craving sushi. They have several vegetarian rolls that are very tasty. My standard order is the inari tofu roll and the sweet potato roll. They are sooo good :-) My meat-eating boyfriend enjoys their california roll and the chicken tempura. If you order online through Grubhub.com , they are always running a special: Any two sushi rolls for for $7.95, or any three rolls for $10.95. The delivery bag is always packed full of extra packets of soy sauce, too :) Writing this review just made me hungry....

Consistently one of the most enjoyable and tasty Japanese restauraunts in the area. In fact, my girlfriend and I drive from midtown to eat here often because the waitress remembers everything we order. We don't even need a menu! She makes suggestions based off our past meals and is always friendly and courteous. One of my favorite things to order is a chicken gyoza appetizer and a beef teriaki entree. To fully enjoy the teriaki, pour some soy sauce over it and add a little to the white rice as well. To make the rice even more awesome, spoon some miso soup over it in addition to the soy sauce. Amazingly tasty and it never gets old :)

This is a good place for delivery when you're lazy/tired/busy - but be prepared for an hour plus delivery time (I ordered from close to the restaurant), and for the maki to be different than what you ordered.

Yami Sushi gets Five Stars. We began going here for their late night menu. Three rolls of sushi for $10.95? Where else are you going to get a deal like that? If you're a snob, don't bother. It won't be up to your standards. But for someone looking to fill up on good food, Yami Sushi is the place to eat. The best part about this place is the owner. If you talk to him a bit, he'll do his best to get you the food you want. I've modified my food here many times. I always get eel-avocado, yellowtail-avocado, and salmon-avocado, all with spicy sauce. Try their sweet tea. At first I didn't like it because they don't use regular tea for their sweet tea. They use Japanese tea, so it was a funny flavor. But it grows on you, and we always get it now. I've been here with my parents for lunch, my friends for sake bombs, etc. etc. Great place. Five Stars. The menu has also upgraded since I last went. They now also have Japanese-style ramen and bubble tea, in addition to sushi, teriyaki and udon.

Eating inside the restaurant is a bit capricious for me and I've not once really enjoyed it. So, I get my sushi delivered. They are one of the only sushi places in the area that deliver, so that's a plus. I've gotten some pretty yucky sushi from Yami though. I can't really put my finger on it, so I'll just say it's OK. You can judge for yourself. BTW, delivery usually takes about 45 minutes and placing the order for the first time can be precarious as well - the lady that takes the orders has a hard time with english words that are not associated with a menu item.

I loved Yami Sushi for one reason and one reason only. After 9pm, they offered a delivery deal where you could get 3 rolls for $9. It was off a set menu, but you can't beat it. For a college student up late studying, sushi seems like a much better option than pizza. My personal favorite was the spicy California roll. It was the same idea as a standard California roll with spicy aioli on top. I never actually ate in the restaurant, so I can't speak to the service there. Delivery usually took 30-35 minutes depending on the day of the week. The food itself wasn't stellar, but definitely good enough quality that I kept going back.

The sushi is good but terrible service. Otherwise I would've given it four stars. Four of us ordered two sushi items each and an appetizer. The food came out willy-nilly over a 45 min period with the appetizer 2nd or 3rd. One person waited over 30 min for her order to come out. Go if you're not in a big hurry and don't mind the wait. Otherwise skip it. PS: I don't eat a lot of sushi so this type of service may be typical?

I've got a love/hate relationship going on with Yami. It's like the girlfriend you were too embarrassed to have meet your friends, but who still served a purpose for you. The love: They freakin deliver. That's it. I do not have to leave my house to have sushi. The hate: The quality is usually just okay. It's not the freshest and it's not the most well prepared. The rolls are pretty much the same thing that you get at any other generic sushi places, same wit nigiri choices. It's okay, but not as good as it could be. Yami, I want you to meet Jimbo and the rest of the gang one day. Just pretty yourself up some.

At 9:45 I call to cancel, the lady says she can't and that my order will be right there. At 10:00 my food finally arrives...COLD. I call back and she tells me to put it in the microwave?!? Are you kidding?? She then tells me if I want my refund that I need to bring the food to them.

Ordered through Grubhub. Delivery on a cold night. Arrived quickly and soup was still piping hot! Vegetables properly cooked and plenty of sauce with the meal. I have not had their sushi before but I was pleased with their delivered hibachi.

Be careful!

My wonderful coworkers introduced me to this delicious sushi spot. The staff there since I have been going (1+ yrs) has been most accomodating & treat us like royalty for being such avid customers. The waitresses there are warm, welcoming & somehow even the new staff they bring in spread the word that we get special treatment whether it's complimentary edamame or seaweed salad every time we come for lunch. Aside from the wonderful staff, the sushi there is always fresh & delicious. They also serve these neat lunch boxes that have a ton of food & little extra sides like spring & california rolls w/ your entree. We've found that Yami definitely offers more bang for your buck compared other places we've tried.

I really WANT to like Yami Sushi. The prices are decent, they deliver, and they're open late. However, I've given them at least three chances and I have always been disappointed. The proportions of rice-to-fish seem off, for one, and I now avoid anything with a sauce because their sauces taste cheap and overly syrupy. The last time I ordered, I placed a very basic, impossible-to-screw up order (California roll, tuna tekka roll, shrimp tempura and one of their premium rolls w/eel) and it still just didn't live up to my lowered expectations. The avocado was hard and even the wasabi didn't taste right. Sorry, Yami, but three strikes and you're out. Luckily I got name of two other places that I've tried before and liked that happen to deliver to my neighborhood, so i won't find myself stranded without sushi.

Normally I don't notice the presentation of food at restaurants but this place might be a little more high class than the location and price suggest. The standard sushi stuff that you'd expect to get at any sushi place is top notch, but the southern/Japanese hybrid cuisine is only so-so, such as the tempura fried Sweet Potato. (Personally I've never understood the practice of sushi restaurants trying to develop "local" sushi. Yeah man, I came to eat this really exotic LaVista Road roll.) Accepts major credit cards including Amex. Seating is somewhat limited but parties of four or less should have few problems. Lunch as well as Dinner service.

Gotta love Yami sushi on those late nights when all the other decent sushi places are closed. My friends and I have had delivery numerous times from Yami sushi and the food turned out to be pretty good. personally I enjoy their veggie tempura over everything else. The batter is light and the veggies are still crispy. My friend likes the steak hibachi, but i find it to be quite bland and the side veggies are not very appetizing. I've heard bad things about food quality for deliveries, but I've never experienced it myself. Lastly, even though the quality of the rice and fish is not that great, it is good for the price you pay. Having said that, if you are iffy about eating raw fish from here, they do have plenty of cooked rolls that are quite yummy. My friends and I really like the super crunch roll with the salmon and spicy aioli. Also, dining in may be another alternative (don't be intimidated by the location and decor). There's hardly ever a crowd and you can be sure that the fish is at its freshest. And things like noodle soups and tempura always taste better when they're just made. (The veggie tempura udon I had one time was very good)

Yami sushi is pretty much the best sushi you can get at its price point in Atlanta or neighboring cities. Having gone here for dinner for a number of years now, I've yet to be disappointed. Now it's my turn to share. I would highly recommend overtipping, and here's why: the first time I ever went to Yami, I came for lunch. I was so surprised by the amount of sushi I got for 9$ that I simply doubled the total to include tip. Because the restaurant isn't a chain (ie: Ru'Sans) and you get the same nice lady serving you every time you come in, little things--such as the amount you leave for tip--count. Subsequently, I've always been treated extremely well. I will say that their dinner quality sushi is better than their lunch. Not sure how they grade those things, but take that for what it's worth. All in all, Yami Sushi is a staple in the Atlanta restaurant community. I recommend the Triple Delight sushi: 3 pieces of yellowtail, 3 salmon, 3 tuna, a california roll, soup and salad for $13.

This was the first time I ordered from here. I ordered because it was convenient and they deliver. The sushi was really terrible, barely better than gas station sushi. I won't be ordering from here again; but, if you aren't picky, the delivery minimum is only $10.

This is one of my regular "oh no, it's after nine and I haven't had dinner yet!" places. I almost always try something new when I come here, and have yet to be disappointed. Yesterday I had their "sushi regular" for the first time, and it was a surprisingly big portion. Don't be put off by the weirdly empty dining room -- this place mainly does take-out business. This is not a place for a fancy dinner, but they have good solid sushi with a decent variety of choices. Their non-sushi entrees are also good.

I've had sushi at many other places before but nothing compares to the not so "yummy" sushi at Yami Sushi. I ordered a spicy salmon roll, yellowtail nigiri, and albacore nigiri. Upon opening the container I was greeted by a mysterious albino white piece of sushi (albacore) and a shiny pink piece of plasticy fish (yellowtail). I was so worried by the appearance that I did not even try it as I was concerned for my health. The spicy salmon roll was smothered in some orange sauce which I was surprised to see. I figured I had to eat part of my meal so I took a bite of this "sushi." I then realized why they put so much of this sauce on top. It was to mask the warm pieces of salmon lurking beneath. That was my first and last piece of yami sushi I will ever eat.

Whoa. After the Yelp Holiday Bash last night, this yelper's stomach was in need of a hearty lunch, and for some reason sushi sounded like i would fit the bill. Yami is a petite place that attracts a lot of emory students and staff. Covered in dark woods (and randomly a flat screen TV?), they are open for lunch and dinner - with bento boxes for lunch (yay!). Pretty tasty, and I am sure it gets pretty packed at night. Both good and bad to now know that they deliver, too!

This review isn't for the food or service of Yami but for its atmoshpere and overall cleanliness last night around 9PM. Yuck--we walked in and walked out. Dirty dishes all over the dark and too-poorly-lit-for-any-sushi-chef-to-see-what-he--or she--may have been preparing. Dirty dishes on most of the tables. I understand being understaffed or overwhelmed by guests. But the fact that dishes were everywhere suggests that it wasn't just one big party--it was the result of a night of badly executed management. Unavoidable TVs. I didn't actually see the sushi chef--he or she may have been in back. But I would be pretty embarrassed to advertise that I sold raw food in an environment like last night's. I hate to imagine what was going on in the kitchen or restrooms. Oh and watch out for Yami's delivery driver. (He's the one driving the blue toyota matrix). He almost ran us down last night when he was hauling-tail through the parking lot to park in the handicapped spot out front. Good thing I'm not a little kid or little old lady. Yikes!

Definitely not great sushi. We got it delivered because we had a coupon, and it was not worth the money we saved. I much prefer several other local sushi options. It tasted like supermarket sushi, basically. Not inedible, but certainly not worth spending money on. The ramen was particularly bad though. Flavorless, bloated noodles with sad, wilted veggies. We will definitely not be ordering from here again.

This is our go-to restaurant for good, inexpensive Japanese food in Decatur. We haven't sampled the menu extensively, but the noodle soups and tempura-battered stuff are good, and so is the sushi. We love the fact that they have a kids' menu, unlike most Asian restaurants in the area. Our son, a very picky eater, loved the kids' shrimp plate and the freshly-made beignets for dessert - which they unexpectedly gave us "on the house" one night (we were there celebrating something). The place has always been clean and not too crowded when we've been there, which is usually around 6 or 7 pm. The service is great - professional and courteous. We haven't tried them for takeout yet, but will definitely consider it in the future.

I'm a big fan of Yami and it's because I have a rule for this place. Nothing against them but I only will call in an order for pick up. Tried to dine in just once after reading a reveiw that told me not to and it took forever. Great sushi, great price and if you call it in it's always ready in 15 mins. My personal tip is to get the crabstick tempura appetizer.

Cheap! Yummers! Yay! And holy shit -- no one mentioned how FAT the rolls are! I mean, they are like John Holmes thick. Even the nigiri (which was surprisingly good) was biggie sized. There's no beer or sake listed on the menu, but they do have it -- just ask.

I was excited to discover a Japanese restaurant that delivered to my neighborhood, and tonight I placed my first order. It won't be my last! My husband and I ordered a variety of items (sushi, hibachi, ramen, and udon), and all of it was fantastic! The sushi was fresh and delicious, the ramen was savory, and the tofu hibachi exceeded our expectations. The portion sizes were just right for the money as well. I am already looking forward to our next order!

For three sushi rolls for $10.95 at 11:00 p.m. on Sunday night they are truly priceless. As an inexpensive delivery sushi place they fulfill their role (or "roll") well. There is nothing more I could expect from them and to expect more would be a mistake.

I love the fact that I can get sushi delivered to my house! Yami is good. I also like the fact that they have really good cooked sushi. I've had the shrimp tempura roll, the salmon tempura roll (which isn't on the campusfood.com menu but they do make it) and the chicken tempura roll. Yes, I like tempura. The delivery people are always so nice. Its a nice treat.

Went in we sat at the bar picked up a menu and was greeted by a roach. Then 2 bigger roaches greeted us. Out the door we went.

Do not order the calamari salad, it is not real calamari. Do not order the "crispy tuna roll", it is under the raw section of the menu, however the tuna is partially cooked and the rice is breaded. Definitely, not as described. Never ordering from them again!

No need to beat around the bush with this one.....dollar-for-dollar Yami has the best sushi in town. Great assortment, great price. My fiance and I have eaten there a handful of times and its always a pleasure. Friendly staff, quaint decor, easy access. The one draw back is that the wait can be a little long for certain items, but most times its definitely worth the wait. Beyond my staples of Unagi and Spciy Tuna, I highly recommend the Orange Crunch Roll (salmon tempura w/a spicy mayo sauce). I hear they deliver too ( campusfood.com ) so its a great option for a movie night with friends.

This restaurant was so disgusting. We ended up there after our fav. sushi placed closed down. We were the only ones in the place and the server was very rude. The sushi was bland and mushy. The spicy tuna roll was not spicy at all and had a sauce on top that tasted like pink mayo. The Inari roll tasted like a sponge soaked in Teriakyi sauce. I am not a sushi expert but I have been to enough sushi places to know the good from the bad.

Yami is the best sushi for the price! We can order tons of sushi and it's so affordable and delicious. We order delivery from there about once a week, the only draw back is that it takes about an hour, so you just have to plan ahead of time. You can even order earlier in the day on campusfoods.com and tell them what time exactly you want it delivered! You can do it all online! One time the bag of food smelled like cigarette smoke from the delivery driver, but that was only once out of about 20 times. I definitely recommend it!
